Just Fred

A cop stops a Harley for traveling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name.
'Fred,' he replies.
'Fred what?' the officer asks.
'Just Fred,' the man responds.
The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name.
The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?'
The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred Johnson.
I studied hard and got good grades.
When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Johnson, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school.
Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through School, got my degree, so then I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS.
Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS, with VD.
Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS.
Then I was Fred Johnson, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Johnson with VD.
Then the VD took away my Johnson, so now I am Just Fred.'
The officer walked away in tears, laughing

Statement From ACORN Film-maker James O'Keefe

The government has now confirmed what has always been clear: No one tried to wiretap or bug Senator Landrieu’s office. Nor did we try to cut or shut down her phone lines. Reports to this effect over the past 48 hours are inaccurate and false.
As an investigative journalist, my goal is to expose corruption and lack of concern for citizens by government and other institutions, as I did last year when our investigations revealed the massive corruption and fraud perpetrated by ACORN. For decades, investigative journalists have used a variety of tactics to try to dig out and reveal the truth.
I learned from a number of sources that many of Senator Landrieu’s constituents were having trouble getting through to her office to tell her that they didn’t want her taking millions of federal dollars in exchange for her vote on the healthcare bill. When asked about this, Senator Landrieu’s explanation was that, “Our lines have been jammed for weeks.” I decided to investigate why a representative of the people would be out of touch with her constituents for “weeks” because her phones were broken. In investigating this matter, we decided to visit Senator Landrieu’s district office – the people’s office – to ask the staff if their phones were working.
On reflection, I could have used a different approach to this investigation, particularly given the sensitivities that people understandably have about security in a federal building. The sole intent of our investigation was to determine whether or not Senator Landrieu was purposely trying to avoid constituents who were calling to register their views to her as their Senator. We video taped the entire visit, the government has those tapes, and I’m eager for them to be released because they refute the false claims being repeated by much of the mainstream media.

Massachusetts' Interim Senator Continues To Vote

The main question here is: why is (former) Senator Kirk still voting on these legislative pieces? According to Senate rules and precedent, Kirk’s term expired last Tuesday upon the election of Scott Brown. Furthermore, Massachusetts law can be interpreted, according to GOP lawyers, as:
Based on Massachusetts law, Senate precedent, and the U.S. Constitution, Republican attorneys said Kirk will no longer be a senator after election day, period. Brown meets the age, citizenship, and residency requirements in the Constitution to qualify for the Senate. “Qualification” does not require state “certification,” the lawyers said
.
Additionally, as reported in the Weekly Standard and investigated and confirmed by GOP lawyers:
Appointed Senator Paul Kirk will lose his vote in the Senate after Tuesday’s election in Massachusetts of a new senator and cannot be the 60th vote for Democratic health care legislation, according to Republican attorneys.
Using this interpretation, Kirk cannot vote on any other legislation.

Gun-Show Background Check Bill Dies In Va House

A House Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee voted 4-1 Thursday to kill Democratic Del. Jennifer McClellan's bill to close the so-called gun-show loophole, where private sellers are not required to perform checks. The House has killed the bills for several years.

GOP Leaders Adopt A 'RINOs-Need-Not-Apply' Policy

In an unprecedented move, the Republican National Committee on Friday unanimously called on its chairman,Michael S. Steele, to "carefully screen" candidates for their adherence to conservative values before granting them RNC financial help.
The resolution specifically calls on the national chairman to take into account the voting records and statements of all GOP candidates for evidence that they support the "core principles and positions" of the party's national platform, widely regarded as a highly conservative document.
"The brilliant part of the resolution is that it is tied to the party platform ... that has been thought out, debated and passed unanimously at our national convention," North Dakota GOP Chairman Gary Emineth told The Washington Times after he and his fellow RNC members passed the resolution.
There has been intense infighting for more than a month over the wording and the desirability of the resolution, even though it has no legally binding effect on Mr. Steele or on the chairmen of the GOP House and Senate campaign committees. But it does stipulate that candidates who fail the screening should not receive money and other campaign support from the RNC or its sister committees.
The resolution also calls on Mr. Steele and leaders of the House and Senate GOP campaign committees to deny financial and other support support to "candidates who clearly do not support the core principles and positions" of the national platform as adopted at the 2008 Republican National Convention.
"The importance of resolution's passage now is that it shows we have taken steps not only to welcome tea-party activists and other independent, small-government champions but also to solve problems within the GOP that caused many of them to abandon the Republican Party," said Morton Blackwell, a veteran RNC member from Virginia.
The resolution's passage represents the first time in memory that a philosophically conservative faction has not been crushed by the national party leadership. "Heretofore there hasn't been any instruction to the national chairmen as to how to allocate their committees' resources-- that's the big difference," said Mr. Blackwell.

State Trooper
He sees a couple in a car, with the interior light brightly glowing.
He carefully approaches the car to get a closer look. Then he sees a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine. He immediately notices a young woman in the rear seat, filing her fingernails.
Puzzled by this surprising situation, the trooper walks to the car and gently raps on the driver's window.
The young man lowers his window. 'Uh, yes, Officer?'
The trooper asks: 'What are you doing?'
The young man says: 'Well, Officer, I'm reading a magazine.'
Pointing towards the young woman in the back seat the trooper says: 'And her, what is she doing?'
The young man shrugs: 'Sir, I believe she's filing her fingernails.'
Now, the trooper is totally confused. A young couple, alone, in a car, at night in a lover's lane ... And nothing obscene is happening!
The trooper asks: 'What's your age, young man?'
The young man says: 'I'm 22, sir.'
The trooper asks: 'And her .... what's her age?'
The young man looks at his watch and replies: 'She'll be 18 in 11 minutes.. '
You Guys Need To Get With The Plan..

Defending himself before House Republicans Friday, a sometimes-angry President Obama said he has already incorporated their ideas into his proposals and made it clear he doesn't think his administration is to blame for the lack of bipartisanship in Washington.
Mr. Obama, speaking to the House Republican caucus at their annual retreat in Baltimore, said he is not an ideologue and urged Republicans -- most of whom have voted against every major piece of his agenda -- to set aside politics and help him find common ground.
"I'm not suggesting we're going to agree on everything," Mr. Obama said. "But if the way these issues are being presented by Republicans is that this is some wild-eyed plot to impose huge government in every aspect of our lives, what happens is you guys then don't have a lot of room to negotiate with me."
Following his speech, Mr. Obama took several questions from lawmakers, including one from GOP Conference Chairman Mike Pence of Indiana, who asked whether the president would support across-the-board tax cuts. Mr. Obama said he could not back relief for the wealthiest individuals.
House Republicans presented Mr. Obama with a binder of proposals, which he promised to examine.
"When Democrats took control of Washington, House Republicans pledged to the American people that we would be the party of better solutions. House Republicans have kept our word," said Mr. Pence. "I urge the president to give our proposals the consideration they deserve, so we can begin the work that is necessary to fix our economy and get our fiscal house in order."

Father Of The Year
After they got settled in their seats, a woman sitting across the aisle from him leaned over to him and asked, "Are all of those kids yours?"
He replied, "No. I work for a condom company. These are customer complaints."

GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ANNOUNCES LAUNCH ON INTERACTIVE MAP FOR FY11 CAPITAL BUDGET
“We are committed in Maryland to fulfilling our promise to the people of Maryland to bring them a more transparent, accountable, and fiscally responsible state government,” said Governor O’Malley. “This new website allows all Maryland citizens to explore local projects that will impact the lives of their families and the neighbors, and see first hand how tax dollars are being used to improve the quality of life for all Marylanders.”
The website, maintained by StateStat, Maryland’s performance-measurement and management program implemented to make state government more accountable and more efficient, categorizes Capital projects and separates expenditures by project and by jurisdiction.
Capital budgets are planned in six year increments, and therefore a single fiscal year offers only a piece of the total picture. For the authoritative account on Maryland’s six-Year Capital Improvement Plan and all capital expenditures, please visit Maryland’s Department of Budget and Management’s website.
This interactive map is meant to provide more transparency to state government. Similarly, StateStat tracks every category of federal Recovery Act spending providing contract-level details to the public, and details the activities of several state agencies in an effort to improve efficiency and save taxpayer money. Recently, Good Jobs First, a non-profit research center based in Washington, DC, ranked Maryland’s Recovery Act tracking website the best in the nation for the second straight year.
Obama's Fake Freeze Folly

President Obama made a big deal last week about his purported federal spending freeze, but not enough has been said about how meager the supposed savings actually are. Historical context shows that any savings from this public-relations gimmick will be tiny. Frugality, apparently, is a concept Democrats have a hard time understanding.
The Obama freeze is projected to "save" $15 billion from expected spending next year. This is not a cut of $15 billion in existing spending, but only a decision not to raise spending (to match inflation) on certain accounts. Those accounts supposedly are to be frozen for the following two years as well, but they are being frozen only after a decade-long spending orgy that included an 8.2 percent increase in domestic discretionary spending this year. And they don't apply to any new purported jobs bill or to any other new item on the president's priority list.
What the president is proposing has the aspect of a toddler putting a single foot beyond the water's edge at the beach for the very first time and then proudly reporting to everybody that he "swam in the ocean." If he really wants to swim with the economic tide, Mr. Obama should learn from the 1990s that government is not the engine of prosperity and that when it comes to saving taxpayer money, boldness works far better than puny half-measures.

To All The Women In Our Lives
a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym.
It said, "This summer,
do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"
A middle-aged woman,
whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster,
responded publicly to the question
posed by the gym.
To Whom It May Concern,
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans.)
They have an active sex life,
get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp.
They play and swim in the seas,
seeing wonderful places like Patagonia ,
the Bering Sea
and the coral reefs of Polynesia .
Whales are wonderful singers
and have even recorded CDs.
They are incredible creatures
and virtually have no predators
other than humans.
They are loved, protected and admired
by almost everyone in the world.
Mermaids don't exist.
If they did exist,
they would be lining up outside the offices
of Argentinean psychoanalysts
due to identity crisis. Fish or human?
They don't have a sex life
because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex?
Just look at them ... where is IT?
Therefore, they don't have kids either.
Not to mention,
who wants to get close to a girl who smells
like a fish store?
The choice is perfectly clear to me:
I want to be a whale.
P..S. We are in an age
when media puts into our heads
the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends.
With time, we gain weight
because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads
that when there is no more room,
it distributes out to the rest of our bodies.
So we aren't heavy,
we are enormously cultured,
educated and happy.
Beginning today,
when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, ¨Good grief, look how smart I am!¨
Neighbors Want "Loophole" Closed In Sex Offender Notification Law
Ed and Jenny Jackson say they were stunned to learn from one of their neighbors that a registered sex offender and his wife had bought a house in their Towson area neighborhood last summer.
What bothers the couple who have three kids is that police did not notify them as required in the state's sex offender notification law.
"It was kind of shocking to find out through word of mouth and not know that this person was living there, and we had no idea," Ed Jackson told WBAL News.

But What About Kratovil?
But Bartlett cites ‘hypocrisy' in calls to work together
Predictably, Maryland's Democratic-dominated congressional caucus praised President Barack Obama's first State of the Union speech, while the lone Republican was less than impressed.
U.S. Rep. Christopher Van Hollen Jr. (D-Dist. 8) of Kensington called Obama's speech a "clear plan" to creating jobs.
"As he said tonight, our economy is in better shape than it was this time last year, but there is more we must do to create long-term economic growth and broadly shared prosperity," Van Hollen said.
He added that Obama seemed to capture the mood of the country well. "We've come through a difficult economic period and getting back on our feet and optimistic about pulling ourselves out of the ditch," Van Hollen said.
U.S. Rep. Donna F. Edwards (D-Dist. 4) of Fort Washington said Obama hit every issue she wanted him to cover in his 70-minute speech.
"He really focused on jobs and small businesses that create jobs, and that's what we need," Edwards said.

No Judgment For Judges

Gansler's plan for judicial elections could rob citizens of any meaningful oversight
Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler recently proposed ending democratic elections for circuit court judges across the state. But the system he proposes -- known by advocates as "merit" selection -- will make judges less accountable and more prone to the type of judicial activism that continues to erode confidence in our legal system nationwide.
Under "merit" selection, judges are chosen by a small panel controlled by legal elites, rather than voters. Favored candidates are then sent to the governor, who must choose from the approved slate. Judges chosen under "merit" selection never face contested elections, just retention ballots where citizens can only vote "yes" or "no."
Mr. Gansler suggests that a retention election "offers [voters] a tool to hold the judge accountable." Actually, retention elections practically assure a lifetime appointment to the bench.
Of the 6,309 judges who ran in retention elections in the U.S. between 1964 and 2006, more than 99 percent were re-elected, according to an article by Professor Larry Aspin of Bradley University. Vanderbilt Law Professor Brian Fitzpatrick found that 145 out of 146 Tennessee judges were retained in a study he published on that state's experiment with "merit" selection

State Senate President's Son Among New Judges

Gov. Martin O'Malley has appointed nine lawyers, one of them the son of state Sen. President Thomas V. Mike Miller, to be trial judges.
Named to the Circuit Court bench in Baltimore were Kendra Y. Ausby, counsel for the Courts and Judicial Affairs Division of the attorney general's office and a former assistant public defender; Videtta A. Brown, a District Court judge and former prosecutor; Charles J. Peters, a federal prosecutor and former city prosecutor; and Stephen J. Sfekas, a health care lawyer who represents providers for the developmentally disabled.
"They seem like they will be very fine additions to our bench," W. Michel Pierson, acting administrative judge for the Baltimore Circuit Court, said Wednesday . Tapped for the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court bench were career prosecutor Laura S. Kiessling, the deputy state's attorney; and trial and business law attorney Ronald H. Jarashow, a partner in an Annapolis law firm.

Don Rickles

Hello, dummies! Oh my God, look at you. Anyone else hurt in the accident?
Seriously, Senator Reid has a face of a Saint - A Saint Bernard. Now I know why they call you the arithmetic man. You add partisanship, subtract pleasure, divide attention, and multiply ignorance. Reid is so physically unimposing, he makes Pee Wee Herman look like Mr. T. And Reid's so dumb he makes Speaker Pelosi look like an intellectual. Nevada is soooo screwed! If I were less polite, I'd say Reid makes Kevin Federline look successful.
Speaking of the Speaker... Nancy Pelosi, hubba, hubba! ey baby, you must've been something before electricity. Seriously, the Speaker may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. She really is an idiot. Madame Speaker... Want to make twelve bucks the hard way? Pelosi says she's not partisan, but her constituents call her Madame Pelossilini.
Charlie Rangel.... Still alive and still robbing the taxpayers blind. What does that make, six decades of theft? Rangel's the only man with a rent-controlled mansion. He's the guy who writes our tax laws but forgot to pay taxes on $75 grand in rental income! So why isn't he the Treasury Secretary? Rangel runs more scams than a Nigerian Banker.
Barney Frank - he's a better actor than Fred Flintstone. Consider... He and Dodd caused the whole financial meltdown and they're not only not serving time with Bubba and Rodney, they're still heading up the financial system! Let's all admit it... Barney Frank slobbers more than a sheepdog on Novocain. How did this guy get elected? Oh, that's right... he's from Massachusetts . That's the state that elects Mr. Charisma, John Kerry -- man of the people!
You know, if Senator Dodd were any more crooked, you could open wine bottles with him. Here's a news flash, Dodd: when your local newspaper calls you a "lying weasel," it may be time to retire. Dodd's involved in more shady deals than the Clintons . Even Rangel looks up to him!
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, I really respect you... Especially given your upbringing. All you've overcome... I heard your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory. I don't know what makes you so dumb, but it really works for you. Personally, I don't think you're a fool, but what's my opinion compared to that of thousands of others? Gibbs does his best expositional work in the bathroom every morning.
As for President Obama, what can I say? They say President Obama's arrogant and aloof, but I don't agree. Now it's true when you enter the room, you have to kiss his ring. I don't mind, but he has it in his back pocket. His mind is open to new ideas -- so open that ideas simply pass through it. Obama lies so much, I was actually surprised to find out his first name really was Barack. Just don't ask about his middle name! But Obama was able to set a record... He actually lied more in 60 days than Bill Clinton. As far as his administration -- what with the tax cheat and lobbyists -- well, in the words of Patches O'Houlihan, "It's like watching a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob out there."
With all due respect.
FOR THOSE THAT VOTED FOR "HOPE AND CHANGE"... BEND OVER AND PREPARE TO RECEIVE YOUR BOUNTY.

MARYLAND - BUSINESS KILLING FIELD?
And people wonder why local crime is so rampant?
My advise to all of the local Educational Institutions - take heed - you need to re-examine your curriculum. First thing you might want to consider is to require a lesson on the 'Evils of Socialism'. Just take-a-look at the local business carnage.

Fruitland/Salisbury Wal-Mart Closed While WaWa North Remains Open

Wal-Mart is closed. Can anyone tell me why the employees still have to report to work for the night shift? Will trucks still deliver in this mess when everyone is being told to stay off the roads? Obviously Wal-Mart doesn't care about their employees. This is careless!
In the mean time, WaWa on the North end of Town will remain open, even though no employees have shown up for work. Management is being forced to remain at that location. So if you're out and about and would like to give a friendly hello to the Staff that can't be relieved, stop into WaWa and get a hot cup of Joe.
MSP Press Release

DATE & TIME: January 29, 2010 @ 1155 PM
LOCATION: S/B Rt 13 SO Stockyard Rd Wicomico Co., Md.
CASE NUMBER: 10-54-000904
INCIDENT: Resisting Arrest/Obstructing and Hindering
Accused: Wallace R. Jackson, 49 years old, Snow Hill, Md.
Charges: Driving Under Influence of Alcohol, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing and Hindering.
BRIEF RESUME: On 1/29/10, at approximately 1155 pm, Tfc Myers stopped the above listed subject for suspected dui at S/B Rt 13 south of Stockyard Rd. Contact was then made with the driver, Wallace Jackson. He was operating a 1995 black Cadillac at the time of the stop. Mr Jackson was ultimately placed under arrest after failing several field sobriety tests. Jackson was arrested for dui and handcuffed. He became resistant and combative at that time. Tfc Myers forced him onto the ground and called for assistance. Jackson was eventually transported to the Salisbury Barrack and ultimately to the detention center for processing. Tfc Myers sustained and injury to his lower back. Mr. Jackson did not receive any injuries as a result of this incident.
U.S. Considers 'Internet Access For All'

Next month, the United States will introduce a national program aimed at giving every American access to a fast Internet connection, raising the standard from a dial-up connection to broadband. Unlike other nations, however, the U.S. will stop short of declaring broadband access a basic human right.
For some, the right to access the Internet might pale in comparison to other basic human rights, such as the right to life, freedom of expression and equality before the law, but the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights also includes the right to education and the right to work, which may hinge on Internet access.
The United States is currently the only industrialized nation without a national policy for Internet access. Estonia, Greece, France and Finland have recognized Internet access as a basic human right in accordance with the United Nations recommendation.
In 2009, Finland became the first nation to mandate universal broadband along with a minimum speed. All Finns must have access to a 1-megabit per second broadband (Mbps) connection within 2 kilometers of their homes. Finland plans to increase the speed of connection for its populace from 1Mbps to 100Mbps by the end of 2015. What does it mean for Finns? Instead of minutes, data transfers for most tasks — including web browsing, movie streaming and large file downloads — will take only a few seconds.
American citizens who can't access the Internet are at a severe disadvantage, experts say. According to Blair Levin, executive director of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Omnibus Broadband Initiative, more than three-quarters of U.S. companies now accept resumes only online.
The FCC is spearheading the national broadband plan to accelerate broadband deployment across the United States, especially in poor and rural areas. The agency will present its plan to the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Feb. 13.
Remember I Said There'd Be Two Big Announcements On Monday, Here's One Of Them

Who says there is no GANGS in Salisbury!
A federal jury convicted two Maryland gang leaders, one of whom produced the infamous "Stop Snitching" videos, of racketeering Thursday, after two days of deliberation. Sherman Pride, 35, of Salisbury and Ronnie Thomas, 36, of Baltimore face a maximum of 20 years in prison on the racketeering charge. Pride could get a life term for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Prosecutors said the men were members of the Bloods' violent Tree Top Piru group, which sold drugs across the state. Pride led a TTP set on the Eastern Shore, and Thomas was a gang leader in Maryland, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Thomas produced two "Stop Snitching" videos, which encourage retaliation against anyone who cooperatates with police. Eight others connected to the videos have been convicted in federal court. Five other defendants charged with gang racketeering are expected to go on trial in March.

Holy Cow!
Here I thought I'd take it easy on Posts, (as I usually do on Saturday's) but like everyone else, there's not a whole lot to do today anyway.
Well, since there's so many of you on here, someone come up with their best idea of what to do when so many are stuck indoors.
Someone mentioned the power may go out and recommended that people fill up their bath tubs with water in case your toilets stop working and pull out candles in case the power goes out.
Update On Monster Truck/Civic Center Situation
Thought I’d pass on to you that the afternoon show has ended at the Civic Center. The snowdrifts are too high for some cars to move. No one has plowed the lot. Don’t know if anyone can help
There were about 1000 people that attended the show. So maybe those that wrote earlier are the “lucky ones” for not attending and loosing their ticket money but at least not getting stuck.
Tim In Quantico Sends SBYNews An Update
Another Civic Center Complaint
I am writing you with a very serious concern . And I am hoping that you could help me with getting this concerned extinguished . I had purchased 5 tickets to the Salisbury Civic center for the 2:00 Monster truck show today ... In advance . Now we get hit with this snow storm and i contacted the civic center to express my concerns of driving there from Dover , De ... I requested a refund and was told very curtly that they dont do refunds and that the show would go on . I have no choice but to eat the tickets because i do not want to jeopardize my 11 yr olds well being in this winter snow storm ... I guess what I was hoping is that you could maybe post something concerning the Civic centers position to hold onto my money and try to coerce me into putting my family in danger from trying to travel in these conditions . If I'm being un-understanding could you please tell me so , I think it is very wrong of them to take the position that they are and would greatly appreciate it if in ur heart you find your self on my side of this situation .... Pleas Joe ... Could you help any ? My money was so tight in these times of uncertainty that the 161.00 dollars would go far to helping my finances . I just wanted to show this young man a great show and feel the Civic center is being un-understanding about the weather thing . They dont have to worry with it because of last nites show .
I will be hoping and praying that you find the situation i am facing as news worthy for your blog . You have done so much there on SBY for all of us I hope you can see what i'm asking ? If I am unreasonable for wanting a refund prior to show time please let me know .... Waiting for a reply from you .... till then please take care and drive safe if you have to go out in this."
We Could Get 18 Inches??

Vehicle accidents and even road closures could result on the ground, while airline passengers face flight delays and cancellations.
This afternoon into early tonight, an additional 6 to 12 inches of snow will fall across eastern Virginia, southern Maryland and southern Delaware.
This additional snowfall will bring storm totals up to 18 inches in some areas.
Richmond, Virginia Beach, Va., and Salisbury, Md., are among the cities where such snowfall totals are possible.
In addition, strong winds gusting between 30 and 40 mph will create significant blowing and drifting of the snow along with whiteout conditions at times.

If You're Impressed With Our Local Police Now, Wait Until Monday!

Ladies & Gentlemen, while I'm not at liberty to expose information at this point and time, I certainly appreciate all of the nice comments coming in on the Church Street arrest yesterday.
That being said, there will be major news coming to all of you on Monday. If you're impressed now, wait until they bust open this information and expose all of the fine work they have done most recently the general public is not aware of, yet.
One thing is for sure, our new leaders in the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the Maryland State Police, the Salisbury Police Department and the Delaware State Police will NO LONGER stand for crime on the Eastern Shore.
Out of respect for all of these agencies mentioned above I will refrain from exposing this information and will wait until Monday. In the mean time I'll simply share with all of you that because of their efforts and cooperation with each other, the safety blanket on the Eastern Shore is more secure than you've ever seen. When these agencies said, Game On, they meant it, trust me on that one.
Let me add, my hat is tipped to the States Attorneys Offices and Judges as well. While many might say, better late than never, criminals beware, there's a new Sheriff in Town and the Eastern Shore will no longer be a place for criminals to take advantage of one and all again.
More to come.......
Stock Up On Pipe Tobacco NOW!

Pipe Smokers Beware!
A new bill has been introduced and is pending in Congress, H.R. 4439, that would amend federal law established by last year's S-CHIP expansion. The bill proposes raising the federal excise tax rate on Pipe Tobacco to be equal to the tax rate on roll-your-own Cigarette Tobacco.
The federal pipe tobacco tax is currently $2.8311 per pound, which represents a 158% increase from the pre-S-CHIP tax of $1.0969 per pound. The proposed bill would increase the tax on pipe tobacco to a whopping $24.78 per pound!

Monster Truck Show At Civic Center

I have six tickets to the monster truck show today at two at the Civic Center. I called to see what they were doing because of the snow, and the answer was; “No, it’s not cancelled and there will be no refunds issued.” How can they expect us to drive to the show with four to six inches of snow on the ground? These tickets were not cheap!!! I know there are many others in my position- is there something you can do to help???
The $1,500,000.00 Civic Center Parking Lot?
I'm sorry your schedule prohibited our meeting. I hope the following provides the information you're seeking:
Questions from Allen Perdue
Besides the outrageous asking price for this run down parking area how much more is going to be needed from the Tax Payer for the County to make this land a feasible parking area?
100% of the purchase price will be paid from Maryland’s Program Open Space fund; The grant and the appraisals were approved by the State Board of Public Works last March. The purchase price was determined by two independent appraisals
I ask this because the drainage system may not be up to date for the watershed to pass standard requirements?
The parking lot was designed by Parker and Assoc. and is compliment with new storm water management laws to be enacted in 2 months. The property will yield 500 parking spaces, thereby increasing our onsite parking by over 50%
There is no lighting which needs to be replaced / updated.
What is this cost? This area will have to be repaved. The present blacktop is in terrible condition and will be a mistake to resurface over the old. The base will have to be reconditioned after removing the old blacktop and before this area is resurfaced with new blacktop.
The parking lot was designed to include storm water management measures, re-paving and new lights. The estimate is $1,100,000. $720,000 will be paid from Maryland’s Program Open Space fund. The grant was approved by the State Board of Public Works last May. The balance will come from general obligation bonds to be paid by Wicomico County.
Are these concerns being addressed in the appraisal that is being used and deducted from the asking price? If not why?
The appraised value is the value of the property’s best and highest use… commercial or residential.
You (Rick) say the appraisals were done some time ago. If that is so why has there not been a more recent appraisal done by the State, in which the State Highway Administration conducts not a Realtors?
Four reasons:
· By law POS projects require independent appraisals performed by certified MAI appraiser.
· Because the State’s paying the bill and accepted the current appraisals
· There are no recent comparable sales
· The owners don’t have to sell and accepted this value;
· The state may withdraw the POS grant to fund its deficit and taking more time exposes Wicomico taxpayers to this risk
As for as charging for the usage of the area for parking, what is the legality of being charged when it is not being used without a written contract or is there a contract which is not being revealed?
· Unless purchased by the county, this is private property and the county has no right to use without express permission. The landowner has every right to require whatever rent they deem appropriate or deny us usage altogether absent agreement.
Who made such an agreement and on who's authority since this would be considered a County expense? Does the individual have the legal authority for this type of decision/agreement?
There is no agreement…but absent a purchase the owner will require rent or deny us use of the property.
What account is this expense being withdrawn from?
The land purchase and parking lot development payment tactics were previously addressed.
Who sets the cost for this parking area usage and is the cost comparable to other parking cost in Salisbury?
County elected officials… the Executive and County Council...IF the County purchases this property.

Maryland Could Be A Massachusetts Repeat
Having door-knocked for Scott Brown and then witnessing his victory in Massachusetts firsthand, I know that an independent candidate, free from machine politics, can and will win against any Democrat or Republican in any state, including Maryland.
In fact, President Obama admitted as much during a post-election interview when he stated, "the same voters that voted for me, voted for Scott Brown."
Ehrlich saying that Barbara Mikulski is no Martha Coakley is also not accurate. Both officials are lifelong politicians, both are beholden to machine politics and both stand for higher taxes, greater governmental spending, amnesty for illegal immigrants and a federal takeover of the health care industry. And both are/were well-liked.
Scott Brown's reputation for listening to voters, his record of fighting for open, transparent and accountable government and his campaign theme of "we can do better" resonated with independent, Democratic and Republican voters alike.
In my campaign for United States Senate, as I go door to door and event to event, I am finding a similar response — Maryland voters want elected officials that will listen to them and that will then act in their best interest, not the machine's best interest.
Maryland voters believe that "their" United States Senate seat, afforded to "them" by the Constitution, does not belong to Barbara Mikulski or to any one political machine or party ... it belongs to "them," the people.
My candidacy for U.S. Senate, like Scott Brown's, gives Marylanders a chance to once again have their voices heard in Congress.
I am hopeful that Bob Ehrlich might reconsider his comments given this firsthand accounting from both Massachusetts and Maryland, and perhaps have the evidence he needs to run for governor — a decision that I would support.

Church St Burglary

At approximately 4:40pm Salisbury P.D. was notified of a burglary in progress at 608 Church St. Officers arrived to find one #1 male (juvenile) and one #1 female inside the house. The two suspects attempted to flee, but were immediately caught and detained. During the investigation, officers found that a window had been broken in the back of the house apparently to gain access. SPD supervisor arrived to secure photos of the damage. Both suspects were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Wicomico County Detention Center. Two officers remained on scene awaiting arrival of the property owner. It should be noted that while officers witnessed both suspects inside the house, the two blamed each other for the burglary.

POLICE PURSUIT ENDS IN FATAL CRASH
The deceased is identified as Francis X. Chase, Jr., 33, of the 43000-block of Palamino Drive in Hollywood, Maryland. Chase was a passenger in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver is identified as Tyrone D. Butler, 39, of the 23000-block of Sugar Maple Court in California, Maryland. He was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George’s County Shock Trauma with non life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that around 1:30 p.m. today, a trooper assigned to the Leonardtown Barracks stopped Butler, the driver of a white 1995 Dodge pickup truck for speeding on Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood. When asked, Butler was unable to provide proper identification, but did provide a name. The name given to the trooper was found to be of an individual with a suspended license. Subsequently, the trooper called for backup assistance to initiate the arrest of the driver.
Once backup arrived, both state troopers approached the vehicle. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Butler fled the scene initiating the pursuit on to State Route 235. Butler led police on a 2.5 mile pursuit until Butler turned abruptly onto Vista Road and then into a private driveway, crashing into two trees where the vehicle came to rest.
Butler was apprehended as he exited the vehicle. Emergency personnel immediately rendered first aid at the scene. Butler was flown to Prince George’s County Shock Trauma Center.
Troopers, along with paramedics from Advanced Life Support, attempted life saving measures on the passenger, Chase. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Maryland State Police CRASH Team is on the scene conducting the investigation. The Maryland State Police Aviation Command, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department and Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the crash.
No charges have been placed at this time. Maryland State Police are consulting with the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney as the investigation continues.
