According to photos released by Huffington Post’s Front Page Editor Phil Lewis, a large crowd has gathered outside of Mitch McConnell’s home in Louisville, Kentucky.

The crowd is reportedly reading the letter Coretta Scott King wrote about now Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

One twitter user named Nathaniel Gardner captured video of the crowd reportedly 200 strong, repeating the words of explanation concerning Warren’s dismissal from the podium.

Discrimination Complaint Against Prince George's Co. Police Department Includes Training Dummy Depicting Black Man, Anti-Obama License Plate

DOJ reviews complaint filed by dozens of police officers

A complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Justice by dozens of Prince George’s County police officers alleging discrimination within the department includes a training dummy depicting a black man and a sergeant’s seemingly vulgar anti-President Barack Obama license plates.

The 300-page complaint sent to the Justice Department in October includes pictures of a training dummy with an afro and a picture of a black man’s face taped to it. It was taken inside a Prince George’s County Police Department training facility.

Mexican President’s Photo Op with Deported Migrants Backfires

An attempt to capitalize on the arrival of 135 deported Mexican nationals by having the president welcome them backfired when some of the migrants said the government abandoned them and would return to the U.S. as soon as possible.

The event took place at Mexico City’s airport when Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto welcomed a group of 135 Mexican nationals who had just been deported from the United States.

“You are not alone, do not feel abandoned” Peña Nieto said. “The doors to this, your house, will always be open.”

During his speech, Peña Nieto called Mexico a land of new opportunities as he talked about various programs, new investments, and the support that the newly-deported individuals would be receiving.

Thieves allegedly using 'mystery device' to open and start vehicles

PORTLAND, Ore. — The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) says new technology is being used to unlock vehicles, start them up and steal them. It's believed to be happening in Northwest Portland.

For years, car break-ins puzzled neighbors near Northwest Cornell Road and Westover Road. Thieves appeared to be gaining entry to cars without smashing a window or tampering with locks.

"Neighbors were certain they had locked their cars the night before and found them unlocked the next morning," Ginger Burke told KATU News. "I think it's been happening for a long time."

Maryland, Virginia make top 10 for teacher pay

WASHINGTON — What public school teachers earn varies widely by experience and education, as well as region, city and even school district. But based simply on average salaries in each state, Maryland and Virginia make the top 10.

The website GOBankingRates.com took data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment Statistics from May 2015 and looked at the annual mean wages for elementary school teachers, middle school teachers and high school teachers. It excluded pay for special education instructors.

Based on its number crunching, the average public school teacher pay in Maryland is $65,257, ranking Maryland No. 8 on the list of top 10 states for teacher pay.

GOBankingRates notes teachers can make even more money in wealthier areas of Maryland, and with more experience. It cites a Capital Gazette report that says the average salary in Maryland could mean a $13,000 difference.

Should the Public Have Access to Police Misconduct Reports?

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A Baltimore state senator is calling for more transparency. The issue is how much information in misconduct investigations should be made available. Some say right now, there’s virtually none.

Policing by nature is not an easy job, but a Department of Justice investigation found patterns of misconduct in the Baltimore Police Department that are currently being addressed.

Now Baltimore Senator Joan Carter Conway is sponsoring a bill to make information in police misconduct investigations open to the public.

“Especially if in fact I’m the victim and I file a complaint against the police then I should be able to see the file to know the outcome or what the status of or whether or not they’re investigating and they currently do not do that,” Conway says.

Trump’s education secretary pick plans to get rid of Common Core standards

Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education, will put the brakes on the contentious Common Core standards if she is confirmed by the Senate.

“It’s time to make education great again in this country,” she said at a Trump rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Friday. “This means letting states set their own high standards and finally putting an end to the federalized Common Core.”

DeVos, a prominent Republican donor and the former head of the Michigan GOP, is known as a charter-school advocate and a booster of school choice and education vouchers.

DeVos’ five-minute speech echoed her new boss’s stance.

“The answer isn’t bigger government — it’s local control, it’s listening to parents, and it’s giving more choices,” she said.

Robber Apprehended 3 Hours After West OC Bank Holdup; Charging Documents Recount Timeline

WEST OCEAN CITY — A local woman, arrested this week after allegedly holding up a West Ocean City bank on Monday, had a busy morning in the hours leading up to the crime including changing clothes before and after in a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday, the Maryland State Police (MSP) Berlin barrack received a 911 call from the Farmers Bank of Willards branch in the White Marlin Mall in West Ocean City reporting a robbery. A bank employee told police a white female had entered the bank and demanded money.

The MSP, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WCBI) and allied local law enforcement agencies responded and a search for the suspect was launched including police aviation and K-9 units. Around 12:15 p.m. on Monday, MSP troopers located and arrested the suspect, identified as Bonnie Gay Bozman Taylor, 56, of West Ocean City.

According to charging documents, Taylor entered the bank shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday dressed all in black and wearing a knit hat. Taylor handed the bank teller a hand-written note stating, “I have a gun, I will kill you,” according to police reports. The teller who was handed the note then handed over a significant amount of currency including “bait money” with serial numbers recorded. Taylor then fled the scene on foot.

Carozza tries to extend senior fraud protection

Improving efforts to protect the elderly and other vulnerable adults from being financially duped is the aim of legislation introduced by Delegate Mary Beth Carozza (R-38C).

The House Judiciary Committee heard testimony last Thursday for HB 256, which would double the time local social service departments have to conduct non-emergency adult protective services investigations.

Testifying at last week’s hearing was Worcester County Social Services Director Roberta Baldwin, who joined a chorus of voices asking to extend the investigative process from 30 to 60 days. The current 10-day window to complete emergency case investigations would remain intact.

“It really provides an opportunity to conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation, which would allow us to better protect vulnerable adults,” she said.

Liberals Call Joe Albero A Coward

It's sad that a local blogger will run and hide from a real liberal challenge. Conservatives need to rise up and take a stand. Very disappointed in the "Anonymous" blogger army.

If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything!

Jonathan Taylor As stated the man is and always has been a coward

To The EBT Blogger,

This "coward" went door to door in Salisbury for a year addressing some 8,000 voters face to face while I ran for Mayor. If I was in fact what you call a "coward", wouldn't I be afraid to confront thousands of haters? I also stood up to the Liberal Party by running for Mayor.

The only coward I see is you. You refuse to go to work and instead sit behind your computer picking on defenseless women and children. Instead you collect disability, live in an affordable housing complex and live off us hard working Americans.

I'm sure once people read this message they will want to spit in your face, not that I encourage anything of the sort. We at Salisbury News make incredible donations with our advertising revenue, Paying It Forward simply to help others in need, something you don't do.

Yeah, I'm a real "coward".

Record 5,411 Americans Renounced Their U.S. Citizenship In 2016

For the fourth year in a row, a record number of Americans and green-card holders renounced their U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency in 2016, according to Treasury Department data slated for publication Thursday.

At the end of each quarter, the Treasury Department publishes the names of people who renounced their citizenship during the prior three months. Last quarter, 2,365 individuals expatriated, according to an analysis of the data by international tax attorney Andrew Mitchel, who has been tracking expatriations on his website since 2008.

Last quarter’s tally mean the total number of published expatriates in 2015 was a record 5,411 — 26 percent higher than 2015, when 4,279 individuals renounced their citizenship, and 58 percent higher than in 2014, when 3,415 expatriated, according to Mitchel’s analysis.

Worcester Schools draft $101M budget

Though salary negotiations are still underway, and formal approval is not expected until Feb. 21, Worcester County Public Schools Superintendent Lou Taylor and Finance Officer Vince Tolbert presented the school board with the draft budget for fiscal year 2018 at a work session on Tuesday.

The schools are requesting about $101.4 million, a $3.11-million increase over last year. The additional money includes about $1.11 million for step increases to salaries, about $611,000 for a one-percent cost-of-living increase, almost $711,000 for health insurance increases and nearly $567,000 for capital projects.

The remaining $115,000 is made up of bus expenditures and an increase to the local share of teacher pensions.

“The biggest change is the $500,000 for capital improvements,” Taylor said. “We’ve gone eight or nine years without, and I’ve talked with the commissioners and agreed to go down this road.”

Maryland: Contact Committee Members in Opposition to Ban on the Private Transfer of Long Guns

This flawed legislation is being pushed by an out-of-state anti-gun group who is trying to impose their misguided policies on the law-abiding gun owners of Maryland.

Activists crowd meeting on proposed pipeline under Potomac

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) — Environmental activists crowded a TransCanada open house Thursday in western Maryland, blocking access to displays about the company’s proposed pipeline beneath the Potomac River to carry natural gas from Pennsylvania to West Virginia.

Protest leaders pledged a sustained campaign against the project, planned by the same Canadian energy company behind the disputed Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Russell Mokhiber of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, told the peaceful protesters they can defeat the Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project by making their concerns about potential leaks known to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission once TransCanada files its application in March.

Most Left-Wing Protesters Live With Mom and Dad

You ever wonder how all those young people have all that free time to go to protests, camp out at Occupy Wall Street, sit around at demonstrations against oil pipelines and GMO firms?

While no one in the U.S. has bothered to ask the kids just how they afford all that free time, a newspaper in Germany studied 873 suspects who were investigated by authorities for a decade, between 2003 and 2013. You'll never guess what they found. (Yes you will.)

More than 9 out of 10 of the political protesters (92 percent) live with their parents, with a third unemployed. Eighty-four percent were young men -- the usual age was 21 to 24 -- with 16 percent women, the Bild newspaper wrote.

And their political views are, of course, hyper liberal.

"Most politically motivated violent crimes come from the left-wing scene," Interior Senator Frank Henkel told the paper.

Under Armour CEO Is Turning Heads with a Bold Statement About President Trump

Plank's endorsement of the president isn't sitting well with everyone. Many Twitter users have announced their intention to boycott the Baltimore-based clothing company:

1933 | The President Assumes ‘Dictatorial’ Powers. Quickly.

Tumultuous? Definitely.

Busiest? That depends.

President Trump certainly stirred a whirlwind in his first 10 days. But it wasn’t unprecedented. Take a look at the front pages from the first 10 days of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency in 1933, beginning with his speech on March 4 (the last time a swearing-in was held on that date).

“The inaugural address was a Jacksonian speech, a fighting speech, implicit with criticism of the lack of leadership and the philosophy of government which the president imputed to his predecessor, who sat there listening,” Arthur Krock, the Washington bureau chief of The Times, wrote in his account.

“ ‘Action’ was the promise of Mr. Roosevelt’s speech, and action was immediately forthcoming,” Mr. Krock stated.

Before his second full day in office was over, President Roosevelt had suspended all banking transactions in the United States. The goal was to stanch the hoarding of currency and gold by anxious depositors. Runs on the nation’s banks had pushed them into or near collapse.

History calls it a “bank holiday.” That makes it sound cheerful. No confetti was involved.

School cancels black history cotton-picking field trip

A private Catholic high school in Ohio is discontinuing an “immersive” class lesson aimed at recreating the experience of slavery, complete with spiritual music and picking genuine raw cotton.

In a letter to parents on Sunday, principal Mark Vollmer of Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown said the lesson presented during last Thursday’s African-American history class covered Southern agriculture prior to the Industrial Revolution. Students listened to music from the period and watched a video of a firsthand account of slaves picking cotton before going to a field themselves.

“Students were then provided the opportunity to actually feel, manipulate, and work the seeds out of genuine new cotton samples,” Vollmer wrote. “Study and then discussion ensued regarding the invention of Eli Whitney’s cotton gin and the mechanization which took over the industry.”

Governor’s Sex-Trafficking Bill Would Help Child Victims

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A bill proposed by the governor would change Maryland’s sexual abuse law to allow law enforcement to more effectively prosecute suspected sex traffickers of children, regardless of whether the trafficker is a relative of the victim.

Hogan’s Protecting Victims of Sex Trafficking Act of 2017 would change Maryland’s definition of sexual abuse to allow for police to open investigations into allegations of sexual trafficking of children even if the suspect is not related to the victim by family or through the household. The bill has bipartisan support.

“It ensures minor victims of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in Maryland are treated as victims of child sexual abuse,” Amelia Rubenstein, with the Child Sex Trafficking Victims Initiative, said in written testimony.

Democrats continue to lose in showdowns with Donald Trump

They are comforting themselves with moral victories, but for Democrats, there have been no concrete wins so far in their showdowns with the Trump administration.

The Senate vote Tuesday confirming Betsy DeVos as education secretary was the latest example, with the minority party holding all its own troops and even gaining the support of some Republicans — and still falling short in their bid to thwart President Trump.

It’s not for lack of trying. Democrats staged a rally outside the Supreme Court last week to protest Mr. Trump’s executive order for extreme vetting at ports of entry for people from seven Muslim-majority nations. They also mounted feverish opposition to nearly all of the president’s Cabinet picks, forcing record delays and denying him his team.

They also have helped increase Mr. Trump’s approval rating, which stands at 54 percent, up nearly 10 points since just after his inauguration.

But Republicans powered through their budget, and each of Mr. Trump’s nominees has been approved thanks to the lower threshold Democrats created in 2013 to help President Obama.

Muslim Charity Worries Sessions Will Cut Off Its Federal Funding

A federally-funded Muslim social services group that counts an accused former Hamas operative as its spiritual leader says that Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions should be disqualified from serving as attorney general.

Wafa House, based in Clifton, N.J., appears to be concerned that a Sessions-led DOJ will cut into its funding stream because of the Republican’s past votes against the Violence Against Women Act, a 1994 law which provides billions of dollars in funding to investigate and prosecute violence crimes against women.

Wafa House, which focuses on cases involving Muslim and immigrant victims, received $800,000 in federal grants last year through VAWA and a DOJ victims assistance program.

The non-profit’s grants last year far surpassed previous years’ totals as well as its entire budget for 2015. The group received $45,000 in each of the previous three years. In 2015, its entire budget was $360,000, its tax forms show.

Many foreign nationals who are not deported commit more crimes — even murder

At least 121 killings within a four-year span were carried out by convicted immigrants who were not deported, according to a 2015 U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee document recently reviewed by el Nuevo Herald.

Every year, federal immigration authorities release foreign nationals convicted of crimes — including murder — both because the U.S. Supreme Court has prohibited indefinite detention or because their countries refuse to take them back even after immigration judges have ordered deportation.

While the release of convicted immigrant criminals has been routine since the Supreme Court issued its landmark ruling 15 years ago, the practice is now in the national spotlight because President Donald Trump has made it imperative to deport immigrant convicts as quickly as possible lest they commit more crimes.

The Clintons Assisted Goldman Sachs, Angela Merkel In The Greek Financial Crisis

It's a story that has been told many times in part, but not in total. While Goldman Sachs' role in helping to create the environment forGreece's government-debt crisis is well known, less discussion is given to the role the Clinton family played in helping Angela Merkel to consolidate political control of Greece while also assisting Goldman as it continued to benefit from the meltdown once austerity measures had begun. The Clintons appear to have received funds from both Germany and Goldman Sachs during this period.

I. Goldman Sachs Was Responsible For Greece's Economic Collapse

Goldman Sachs is generally blamed for having a hand in intentionally causing Greece's 2008 financial crisis. Observers have noted that the financial group was instrumental in helping to arrange a secret loan of 2.8 billion euros for Greece, disguised as an off-the-books “cross-currency swap” - a complicated transaction in which Greece’s foreign-currency debt was converted into a domestic-currency obligation using a fictitious market exchange rate. This allowed Greece to hide 2% of its debt but left it immediately in a much worse position after the effects of 9/11 caused the amount Greece owed to Goldman double.

Meanwhile, Goldman padded its profits by leveraging Greece as much as possible along with most of the rest of the global economy. It continued this pattern of predatory lending advice in 2005, when they renegotiated the deal with Greece to lock in their debt at a staggering 5.1 billion euros. In 2009, it made another proposal for a financial instrument that would push the debt from Greece’s healthcare system into the future, delaying payment. In the aftermath of its efforts to financially hobble various nations across Europe, Goldman employees have moved into positions of control within Europe's financial sector. Mario Draghi, managing director of Goldman’s international division at the time of their negotiations with Greece, has since moved on to become the head of the European Central Bank.

II. The Clintons Helped Goldman Sachs To Continue To Exploit The Greek Crisis Financially

“What’s happened on the Republican side, even hope the many of them have doubts about these nominees, they’re afraid to break with Donald Trump,” he said.

“They’re marching in lockstep on these nominees and so many other things. Can you imagine if a Democrat had said the United States has moral equivalency to Russia and Putin? The Republicans would be howling at the moon. But here they just go along and say nothing. It’s a real display of lack of courage, of lack of strength, of lack of conviction for them to go along with these nominees and so do many things that I know in their hearts and minds is wrong.”

'Disgrace to the Black Race': Sen. Tim Scott Illustrates How Liberals Show Tolerance

(CNSNews.com) - Too often, conservatives "are found guilty until proven innocent on issues of race, issues of fairness," Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said in a moving speech on the Senate floor Wednesday.

"I say that, because as I think about some of the comments that have come into my office over the last several weeks, that I'm used to being attacked. If you sign up to be a black conservative, the chances are very high you will be attacked. It comes with territory, and I've had it for 20 years."

For several minutes, Scott read some of the tweets he's received, blasting him for supporting Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general.

It was painful to hear:

"You area a disgrace to the black race," said one message. "You are Uncle Tom Scott. You're for Sessions. How does a black man turn on his own?"

The senator continued: "Sen. Tim Scott is not an Uncle Tom. He doesn't have a shred of honor. He's a house negro like the one in Jango."

Scott continued: "I'm a complete horror. A black man who's a racist against black people. A big Uncle Tom piece of fertilizer."

Scott said he omitted all the messages that used the N-word, because he "just felt like that would not be appropriate."

"You see, what I'm surprised by, just a smidgen, is that the liberal left that speaks and desires for all of us to be tolerant do not want to be tolerant of anyone that disagrees with where they are coming from.

Chelsea Clinton’s hubby flubs badly – out of a job

$25 million hedge fund loses 90% of value in bad bet on Greece

Hillary Clinton isn’t the only one in the Clinton clan who has recently lost a job.

Son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky is hitting the bricks following the monumental failure of his hedge-fund company, Eaglevale Partners.

The fund was quietly closed down in December, and now Mezvinsky and his partners are busy returning what money remains to investors. The group raised $25 million, reports Britain’s Daily Mail and Bloomberg News, but the fund lost 90 percent of its value investing in bank stocks and debt from Greece.

Eaglevale clients were given a glowing report of the company’s Helenic Opportunity Fund in 2014, with Mezvinsky predicting Greece would soon be exiting its crisis on the way to “sustainable recovery.” But, by year’s end, it was apparent the Greek economy was set to crumble without a massive bailout from the Eurozone.

While the Clinton connection failed to save Eaglevale, it may have helped entice some of its biggest investors to bet on Greece. Among the big Wall Street names presumably losing significant money with Mezvinsky are Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd C. Blankfein and Marc Lasry, co-founder of $13 billion hedge fund Avenue Capital, where Chelsea Clinton worked after graduating from Stanford.

"I'm giving you an opportunity to go to school and not be in jail pending this trial. The curfew is 1 p.m., 7 days a week."

Deal said he understood. Taylor wished him luck.

The Minimum Wage Disaster

There is little question in most academic research that increases in the minimum wage lead to increases in unemployment. The debatable issue is the magnitude of the increase. An issue not often included in minimum wage debates is the substitution effects of minimum wage increases. The substitution effect might explain why Business for a Fair Minimum Wage, a national network of business owners and executives, argues for higher minimum wages. Let’s look at substitution effects in general.

When the price of anything rises, people seek substitutes and measures to economize. When gasoline prices rise, people seek to economize on the usage of gas by buying smaller cars. If the price of sugar rises, people seek cheaper sugar substitutes. If prices of goods in one store rise, people search for other stores. This last example helps explain why some businessmen support higher minimum wages. If they could impose higher labor costs on their less efficient competition, it might help drive them out of business. That would enable firms that survive to charge higher prices and earn greater profits.

Pelosi to Adopted Girl: Moms Should Be Able to 'Choose' To Kill Babies Like You

Fresh off a despicable hot mic slip urging a Muslim Congressman to play up his identity for political gain, former Speaker of the House and 100-year-old Democrat Nancy Pelosi made stomachs turn during a recent town hall event hosted by CNN's Jake Tapper.

Pelosi was confronted by a female college student who explained that her young mother found out she was pregnant with her in less than perfect circumstances, but she gave her up for adoption instead of aborting her. The woman bluntly asked Pelosi: Shouldn't all lives be given the same chance to thrive and succeed like I was?

Now, there was no way Pelosi, being the abortion fanatic that she is, was going to concede the obvious: of course all lives matter and no one should be killed in the womb under the guise of "choice." So instead, the Democrat decided to inform the young woman that she was happy her mother had the "choice" to kill her, although she didn't choose to.

Yup, seriously.

Watch:

Democrats’ path to power in the age of Trump is harder than it seems

BALTIMORE - House Democrats plotting strategy at their annual retreat this week see themselves on the rebound. But they have a long, hard road ahead.

As they gathered in Baltimore Wednesday for their three-day conference, congressional Democrats were unusually upbeat. Protests against President Donald Trump have been energetic and ongoing. Incumbent presidents' parties historically lose congressional seats in the mid-term election. And Donald Trump's approval ratings are unusually low for a new president.

“Two years from now we have have our best opportunity yet,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio.

But the path to regaining political relevancy for House Democrats, who have 193 of the House’s 435 seats, remains an uphill climb, with the party’s support increasingly limited to the coasts and big cities.

Ed Klein: Obama's Coming Crusade Against Trump

After three short days in rainy Southern California, Obama escaped the weather and boarded Sir Richard Branson's private jet for the British Virgin Islands. There, with his hat on backwards and wearing shades, Obama chilled out with his wife, Michelle.

Liberals don't have to worry: Obama intends to be the most politically active ex-president in modern times. He's tossing out the old rule book that says former presidents should remain silent for a decent interval to give their successors in the White House time and space to govern.

Spurred into action by his two significant others—Michelle and Valerie Jarrett—the 55-year-old ex-president is preparing to lead the progressive charge against President Donald Trump.

"He's planning to make speeches and speak out forcefully against Trump," said one of his friends. "He's going to fight Trump's executive actions, fire up the leftwing resistance to the Trump administration, and pave the way for the Democrats to retake Congress.

"He's been given assurances by George Soros and other liberal money men that they will make a mighty war chest available for his crusade against Trump," the friend continued.

County joins opponent list for repealing Road Kill Bill

The Worcester County Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to write a letter supporting Gov. Larry Hogan’s effort to repeal the Maryland Open Transportation Investment Decision Act, commonly referred to as the Road Kill Bill.

The Hogan administration has made overriding the bill a priority for the 2017 session of the General Assembly. In a letter requesting the commissioners’ support, Hogan characterized the legislation as an attempt to fix a problem that didn’t exist.

“Prior to the enactment of the Road Kill Bill, Maryland law already required one of the most public, transparent, and inclusive processes in the country for developing statewide transportation priorities,” he said.

RNC chair: Dems ‘obstructing everything the president puts forward’

Ronna McDaniel, the new chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, said Wednesday the party is already eyeing the 2018 Senate map as Democrats throw up roadblocks on Capitol Hill.

“We have a great opportunity with the Senate. And we’re seeing what’s happening in Washington right now with Democrats obstructing every possible thing the president puts forward,” Ms. McDaniel, the niece of 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, said on “Fox & Friends.”

“They are keeping him from putting Cabinet members in place. Now they’re threatening to filibuster the Supreme Court. So now we’re going to go to the Senate map in 2018 and say guess what? We need to get to 60 seats so we don’t have to deal with this anymore and government can function,” she said.

A Muslim Brotherhood Security Breach in Congress

Last year, eight members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence issued a demand that their staffers be granted access to top secret classified information.

The signatories to the letter were Andre Carson, Luis Guiterez, Jim Himes, Terri Sewell, Jackie Speier, Mike Quigley, Eric Swalwell and Patrick Murphy. All the signatories were Democrats. Some had a history of attempting to undermine national security.

Two of them have been linked to an emerging security breach.

The office of Andre Carson, the second Muslim in Congress, had employed Imran Awan. As did the offices of Jackie Speier and Debbie Wasserman Schultz; to whom the letter had been addressed.

Imran Awan and his two brothers, Jamal and Abid, are at the center of an investigation that deals with, among other things, allegations of illegal access. They have been barred from the House of Representatives network.

A member of Congress expressed concern that, “they may have stolen data from us.”

All three of the Pakistani brothers had been employed by Democrats. The offices that employed them included HPSCI minority members Speier, Carson and Joaquín Castro. Congressman Castro, who also sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, utilized the services of Jamal Moiz Awan. Speier and Carson’s offices utilized Imran Awan.

Old-Guard Republicans Pitch Carbon-Tax Plan

A group of prominent Republicans and business leaders pitched a tax on carbon dioxide to top White House aides Wednesday, selling the plan as an economic win that could drive job growth and yield environmental dividends too.

Former Secretary of State James Baker and other members of the new "Climate Leadership Council" pressed the case in a 45-minute meeting in the Roosevelt Room that included President Donald Trump’s top economic adviser Gary Cohn, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and senior aide Kellyanne Conway.

President Trump and a majority of the House of Representatives have come out against a carbon tax in the past year. But the idea of a carbon tax, long favored by economists as the most straightforward way to address climate change, could gain traction as part of a broad tax overhaul on Capitol Hill.

The blueprint involves a $40 tax on every metric ton of carbon dioxide released by burning fossil fuels, with the price climbing over time. To avoid an undue burden on the poor from the higher energy bills that would result, the projected $200 billion to $300 billion in annual revenue would be redistributed to households in the form of quarterly checks from the Social Security Administration. Families of four would see an average annual payout of $2,000 under the plan, they say.

The proposal also calls for border adjustments that would act to hike the costs of products imported from countries that do not put a price on carbon. The tax would be imposed at the point fossil fuels enter the economy, such as when oil leaves the refinery or coal leaves the mine. In exchange, regulations aimed at cutting emissions would be eliminated.

A Viewer Writes: New Inflation Fears

The ivory tower economists just don’t get it.

Wages, either adjusted or not adjusted for inflation, have not gone up in over 8 years. Ask anyone if they had a significant raise lately.

If inflation increases for any other reason than from wage increases, we risk going into a recession again. I don’t know about you, but if my income doesn’t go up, I don’t get too excited about buying stuff I can’t afford.

Look at the local businesses that are going out of business: All of their expenses are going up but their customers can’t afford to buy.

That’s why Trump’s idea makes sense. If we all do better, the economy will take off again. This starts with tax cuts for small businesses and manufacturers, which creates more jobs, which creates wage growth, which creates more money being spent. Wash, rinse, repeat. It works. It’s not some crazy, unproven theory. Reagan already proved it.

The pussy-hat folks don’t get it and never will.

Maybe the economists get their information from the MSM or they live in DC or NYC.

‘Unprecedented Obstruction’

(CNSNews.com) - White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday the fact that Vice President Mike Pence had to cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is a reminder of the Senate Democrats’ “unprecedented obstruction.”

“The fact that we had to get to the point where the vice president had to be pulled in to overcome the Democrats’ historic and partisan logjam of the president’s qualified nominee is another glaring reminder of the unprecedented obstruction that Senate Democrats have engaged in throughout this process,” Spicer said.

Pence’s tie-breaking vote marks the first time in history that a vice president had to break a tie regarding a cabinet nomination.

“The American people sent a strong message when they elected President Trump in November - they’re fed up with business as usual in Washington. Democrats in the Senate should expect that voters will remember how they stood in the way of the president enacting an agenda that put him into office,” he said.

Thank God Its Friday 2-10-17

What will you be doing this weekend?

The DNC chairman’s race reveals much about the party

Even though it is proceeding mostly out of view, the race for the chairman of the Democratic National Committee is important and it says something about the transformation of the Democratic Party. The phenomenon of Bernie Sanders during the 2016 campaign made it clear that the Democratic Party has fully abandoned the Clinton era. Hillary Clinton was the last gasp of an era and not the beginning of anything. Traditional Democratic policies and the cerebral, leftist character of the Obama administration have left the Democrats unfulfilled. Now, it looks as though there is an appetite for angry, full-bore liberalism that is essentially anti-capitalist.

One of the favorite candidates to become the next DNC chairman, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), is so far to the left that he is actually having to try to clean up some of his radical past statements and actions. It’s a bad sign that he is trying to appear more moderate by relying on feature stories in publications like Mother Jones to tidy up his record. But the highlights of Ellison’s career can’t be easily disguised. He was associated with radical leader of the Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan, previously defended the anti-Semitic views of Farrakhan and has fully embraced the Black Lives Matter movement.

Protect the American Flag!

Support Flag Desecration Amendment (HJRes. 61)

Take Action!

Rep. Steve Womack (Ark.) has introduced a proposed constitutional amendment (H. J. Res. 61) to allow Congress to pass a law to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States. Many brave men and women who serve and have served in the Armed Services feel deeply about the honor and dignity of “Old Glory,” and the physical desecration of this symbol of democracy and freedom is an affront to them and the memory of those who died in the defense of this Nation.

Please ask your Representative to support this proposed legislation.

Pocahontas Still on the Warpath

In her diatribe against Sen. Jeff Sessions on Tuesday night, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) used the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's words to attack Sessions as a racist.

In his farewell speech, Sessions said he actually got along with Sen. Kennedy when they served together on the Judiciary Committee, and Kennedy even asked Sessions to sponsor legislation with him.

"It was a moment of reconciliation that meant a lot to me, and I think he appreciated it, too," Sessions said.

For the record, in a series of tweets after Sessions was confirmed, Sen. Warren continued her attack on Sessions, accusing him of "radical hatred."

-- "There’s no Rule 19 to silence me from talking about Jeff Sessions anymore. So let me say loudly & clearly: This is just the beginning"

-- "If Jeff Sessions turns a blind eye while @realDonaldTrump violates the Constitution or breaks the law, he'll hear from all of us.'

-- "If Jeff Sessions makes even the tiniest attempt to bring his racism, sexism & bigotry into @TheJusticeDept, he'll hear from all of us.'

-- "And you better believe every Senator who voted to put Jeff Sessions’s radical hatred into @TheJusticeDept will hear from all of us, too."

ICYMI: Martin O’Malley and Larry Hogan are Both Pushing to End Gerrymandering

From The Washington Post

“We must, on a state-by-state basis, push for an end to gerrymandered congressional districts.’ O’Malley said. ‘. . . This simple reform, already being adopted in some states, must become the new norm of American democracy.’"

The Washington Post
Josh Hicks
February 5, 2017

“Former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley (D) has changed his stance on gerrymandering, a practice he embraced when he redrew the state’s congressional districts more than six years ago.

“During a speech at Boston College last month, O’Malley, who unsuccessfully sought the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, said he no longer supports partisan redistricting. He said manipulating voting boundaries for political purposes 'digs ideological trenches around incumbents' and deepens the nation’s political divisions.

“‘As a governor, I held that redistricting pen in my own Democratic hand,’ he said. ‘I was convinced that we should use our political power to pass a map that was more favorable for the election of Democratic candidates.’

“Attorneys challenging Maryland’s voting map as unconstitutional are now trying to learn more about O’Malley’s intentions during the state’s 2010 redistricting. Last week, they subpoenaed him to testify as part of a lawsuit challenging the state’s congressional districts. ...

Ted Cruz: Democrats 'Filled With Rage and Fury'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren's attacks on Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, who was confirmed Wednesday as attorney general, reflected the Democratic Party's "rage and fury" over the outcome of the November election, Sen. Ted Cruz told Newsmax TV.

"The Senate Democrats, I mean, they are right now filled with rage and fury — and they're in a state of denial over the election," the Texas Republican told "The Joe Pags Show" in an interview.

"They're really angry at the voters.

"They're angry at the American people for voting for a Republican president, a Republican Senate, a Republican House — and they're lashing out."

Dershowitz: Trump Will Win on Travel Ban at Supreme Court

President Donald Trump will lose the appeal on the nationwide ban on his travel executive order — but he will prevail before the Supreme Court, famed civil-rights attorney Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"I do not believe that this order constitutes a violation of the establishment clause of the Constitution," the Harvard Law School professor emeritus told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "The fact that they picked seven Muslim states, those are the states that have high levels of terrorism.

"When you focus on real victims or real perpetrators — and the impact is heavily on one particular religion, that doesn't create a constitutional problem.

Maryland Association of Counties Stands With Governor Hogan on Road Kill Bill Repeal

Organization Representing Maryland’s 24 Jurisdictions Votes to Support Repeal of Disastrous Law

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), a non-profit and non-partisan organization that advocates on behalf of local governments to the Maryland General Assembly, has voted to support Governor Larry Hogan’s call for a full repeal of House Bill 1013, more commonly known as the Road Kill Bill.

This legislation, passed over the governor’s veto in the 2016 session, severely jeopardizes major priority transportation projects across the state. Under the extremely flawed and biased scoring system mandated by the legislature, 66 out of 73 transportation projects are cancelled, including pivotal projects such as the widening of the Severn River Bridge in Anne Arundel County, the widening of Route 2/4 in Calvert County, and the construction of the I-270, Watkins Mill Road interchange in Montgomery County. In addition, the vast majority of nearly $1 billion in available funding for these capacity increasing projects is directed to only 4 of Maryland's 24 jurisdictions.

“I sincerely thank MACo’s membership for standing up for their constituents and fighting back against the Road Kill Bill,” said Governor Hogan. “This disaster of a law will wreak havoc on our state transportation system and usurp important authority away from local governments and away from the executive branch of state government, giving authority instead to lobbyists and special interest groups. I will not stop fighting until this catastrophic bill is repealed.”

“This law threatens critical projects in Anne Arundel County and imposes a one-size-fits-all formula that ignores the diversity of transportation needs in our State,” said Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh. “I applaud Governor Hogan’s resolve to fight for important transportation projects that will keep Maryland moving.”

“The scoring system established by this flawed legislation puts small to mid-size counties like Harford at a further disadvantage to obtain already limited capital road improvement projects,” said Harford County Executive Barry Glassman. “Harford County respectfully requests that the General Assembly repeal this law.”

Red Cross Suspends Operations In Afghanistan After Six Employees Killed

The International Committee of the Red Cross suspended operations in Afghanistan after gunmen killed six employees helping to deliver emergency relief to a remote northern region hit by heavy snowstorms.

The governor of Jowzjan Province said the aid convoy was attacked by suspected Islamic State gunmen. The head of the Red Cross called the incident the "worst attack against us" in 20 years.

A search operation was under way to find two charity workers who were still missing late on February 8.

"Our operations are on hold, indeed, because we need to understand what exactly happened before we can hopefully resume our operations," the charity's director of operations, Dominik Stillhart, said.

The BATTLESHIP

During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945,

"We the People of the U.S.A." produced the following:
22 aircraft carriers,
8 battleships,
48 cruisers,
349 destroyers,
420 destroyer escorts,
203 submarines,
34 million tons of merchant ships,
100,000 fighter aircraft,
98,000 bombers,
24,000 transport aircraft,
58,000 training aircraft,
93,000 tanks,
257,000 artillery pieces,
105,000 mortars,
3,000,000 machine guns, and
2,500,000 military trucks.

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for theAtlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb, and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama Administration couldn't even build a web site that worked.

That So-Called Judge

Last week, in a public courtroom in the federal courthouse in Seattle, the states of Washington and Minnesota — after suing President Donald Trump, alleging injury caused by his executive order that suspended the immigration of all people from seven foreign countries — asked a federal judge to compel the president and all those who work for him to cease enforcing the order immediately. After a brief emergency oral argument, the judge signed a temporary restraining order, which barred the enforcement of the president’s order everywhere in the United States.

The president reacted with anger, referring to the judge as a “so-called judge,” and immigrant rights groups praised the judicial intervention as a victory for the oppressed. The president meant, I think, that Judge James L. Robart had not acted properly as a judge by second-guessing him — that he had acted more like a politician; and the immigrant rights groups felt, I think, that the United States was once again a beacon of hope for refugees.

Here is the back story.
