WCEA OFFICERS RECALLED

Fellow WCEA Members:

In recent weeks, hundreds of WCEA members have signed two petitions: one to recall the current WCEA leadership and a second to put a group of members in place as interim managers to handle the daily operations of the association.

These petitions have now been signed by a majority of WCEA members. As a result, the WCEA leadership has been placed on notice that sufficient signatures have been secured to recall them from office. Pending the recall process, they have been suspended from their positions and the interim managers put into place.

What does this mean for you? The interim managers will take care of the day to day business of the association, including:

· Working to successfully conclude negotiations

· Appointing a review committee to provide due process to the recalled officers

· Appointing an election committee to secure nominations for officers and directors and to conduct an election.

It is the goal of the managers to re-establish a vibrant WCEA that truly reflects the wishes of its members and that works tirelessly to strengthen our association, profession, and public schools.

The interim managers will adhere to the vote of the Representative Assembly on March 19, 2014 regarding the proposed bylaw amendments. Specifically, the body will not consider bylaw amendments to disaffiliate from MSEA/NEA before the end of the 2014-15 school year, if at all. In the interim, we will actively work on establishing an improved relationship and better communication with MSEA/NEA. The Representative Assembly originally scheduled for today will remain cancelled.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact any of the undersigned interim managers. We have full confidence that together we will build a strong WCEA.

Dear WCEA Members:

On April 15, 2014, Gary Hammer et al., entered the WCEA offices, changed the locks and codes, removed or altered office equipment and purported to illegally fire the Association’s only employee. These actions were not taken in accordance with the governing documents of WCEA or in accordance with the law.

The democratically elected leadership of WCEA would like everyone to know that we are continuing to exercise the duties of the office. We will not be bullied and these actions will not affect the business affairs of the Association. Member services, including member representation and contract negotiations with the Wicomico County Board of Education, will continue unchanged. Further, this attempt to subvert the democratic process will not succeed: on April 28th and 29th, the Association’s vote on Bylaws changes will proceed, and members will be able to decide for themselves whether to become self-governing.

Sincerely,

Kelly Stephenson, WCEA President, and the WCEA Board of Directors

A Letter To The Editor: Food Lion

Good morning Joe,

Just wanted to tell you about my experience at Food Lion Tillman ROAD this am. My wife is under the weather so guess who got to go grocery shopping today. I am an early riser so I was at the store shortly after opening. Did the normal routine, couldn’t find bacon bits so I asked an associate, well no clue so I said forget it. Very low choice of beef roast and I mean standard chuck roast as they had two! Needed about a 3 pound roast however my wife had wrote on my list 3lbs. Found no one to help me so I bought another cut that was large enough. Everything else was normal.

Got to the checkout and they rung the groceries up and the last item was some matches. Joe they asked me for ID. Joe I am 70 years old!!! They said it didn’t matter if I want the matches id required. The manager happened to walk by and the cashier asked as she was walking by she never stopped just shrugged her shoulders and kept going. Joe I really wanted to leave and go somewhere else but I didn’t because of time restraints. This policy pertains to any restricted items such as cigs and alcohol and who knows what else. I know the policy was put in place because they got caught selling something that was age restricted and probably paid a hefty fine. I told them that I would never be back and I mean it The cashier just gave me that whatever look! Very Poor Management!!!

Not at all customer friendly. If a cashier at some point sold an age restricted item the answer is NOT TO PUNISH the public but to find some other way so that their employees don’t do that.

Food Lions policy is right there with BAN ALL THE GUNS because of a few individuals use them in an unlawful way! Here I come Giant! Yes your prices are a little higher but in return you have a great selection and excellent customer service, and WalMart for other certain things.

Wicomico County - Connecting the Dots - Elected County Executive, Rick Pollitt

As most of our readers know SBYnews
strives to reach-out in order to keep our community informed.  An informed public is essential for a 'Free Democracy' to work.  With that being said, we would like for the public to review some of the Campaign Contribution information for our Elected-County Executive, Rick Pollitt.  For a more complete breakdown of the Campaign Contributions - it can be viewed at the following State Board of Elections website at - https://campaignfinancemd.us/Public/ViewFiledReports?theme=vista .  In the Peach colored window - enter Pollitt.

CLICK ON THE READ MORE LINK BELOW.

Today - Wicomico County Council Revisits Board of Elections Decision - In Our Opinion - This Was Improper!

  • The Wicomico County Council revisited their last Council's decision (6-1) vote to try and schedule yet another public hearing on Leasing the Adkins facility to house the Board of Elections.  Recently - there has been a rash of 'flip flop' votes to reconsider a number of County wide issues.  In our analysis - it's almost as if our County has become the City's version of SAPOA - whereby the 'Good Ole Boys' network tries to prevail to the detriment of our citizens.
FLIP FLOP EXAMPLES:

  • First - there was the Bennett Middle School Construction.  In that instance, the County Council body originally decided not to build the school. Then, Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman decided to bring the topic up again, this time reversing her previous vote that ultimately led to the BMS construction approval.
  • Second - then there was the recent decision to not issue a pay raise for Mike Lewis - Sheriff's Department.  Again, Stevie Prettyman reversed course and decided to change her vote that resulted in that vote being changed also.
  • Third - again today, Stevie Prettyman decided to reverse course and tried to schedule yet another hearing - to revisit the subject.
Even Council President - Matt Holloway, brought up the topic, not once - but twice today - trying to sway the other Council members to change their vote.

Today - it reminded us of a full blown public hearing procession, however, this time the public was not invited.  We would also like to add - that according to the County Council's own set of instructions - it's suppose to limit the time allowed for public comments to no more than 5 minutes.  Today - we noticed the Adkins Lease proponents
stood-up numerous times and proffered testimony that well exceeded their 5 minute allotments.

In the end - we found today's County Council meeting to be improper - not only to those who attended - but to those thousands upon thousands of Wicomico taxpayers who had little or no voice in the subject matter.   In our opinion - the Adkins Lease - ought not to have been allowed to be revisited - especially since it wasn't even advertised.  Adkin's spokesperson - Bill Turner kept referring to him being 'blindsided' at the first public hearing.

Delmar resident, and spokesperson John Palmer finally interjected at the end - and called attention to the 'public ambush' - putting it in military terms;

'Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance'.

We Agree!

It should be noted that there's an especially interesting twist to this whole thing. Not only did Matt Holloway try to bring it back to a vote TWICE today, it's been reported that Matt is LEASING FARM LAND from one of the people involved. He should have recused himself and he did quite the opposite.

Let's Clear Up The Two Unfortunate Stories This Morning

In Berlin, an elderly couple are now deceased as the husband shot the wife and then shot himself, ultimately passing away as well.

In Salisbury, two men, (roommates) experienced an home invasion on Pemberton Drive which is now being called a homicide as one is deceased and we're not exactly sure of the other mans condition but were told it's not good.
There was NO double shooting in Salisbury. Sources were confused with the Berlin shooting being from Salisbury and that was obviously not the case.

That being said, a home invasion near an affluent neighborhood, (Nithsdale) where such rage took place and two people were beaten by a baseball bat, this is not good Folks.

In recent years Salisbury has grown about 25% in population and let's make something VERY CLEAR here. This increase in population is NOT because Salisbury provides so many job opportunities.

What Salisbury provides more so than anywhere else in the state is AFFORDABLE HOUSING. Need I say anything else?

Today we announced Salisbury as the 4th most dangerous City in the state. LOOK at those POPULATION numbers again Folks.
Ocean City, (in my opinion) is off base on the 7,179 numbers. That would make Salisbury #3. Elkton has half the population of Salisbury and Baltimore has more than 200% more people there than we do.

SALISBURY IS NOT SAFE! When you have two murders in one year and the next year you only have one, telling people part one crime is down 50%, are you feeling safer? This is the kind of math your Mayor and Police Chief are using.

Yesterday someone stood in front of the County Council stating crime is NOT what is actually being published, BS! Salisbury has a crime issue and what is your Main Stream Media telling you all day yesterday and today, WE NEED TO SAVE THOSE 12 FIREFIGHTERS. BS, we need 12 new police Officers! We hear the Fire Chief stating how proud he is that the 12 new Firefighters are helping to save properties by not allowing fires to spread more than ONE ROOM. Then, (right in their very back yard) an entire building on Lake Street burned to the ground, HELLO!

The Mayor and Council need to get their priorities straight and they have failed to do so in almost TWO decades. Quit pounding your chest Salisbury is growing. Quit pounding your chest you're bringing more affordable housing to Salisbury. There's a problem in Salisbury Ladies & Gentlemen and YOU need to stand up to this problem before ANY more victims lose their lives.

Ongoing Support Needed For Bundy Ranch

The Bundy Family, and the supporters on the ground at their Ranch, including Oath Keepers, have put out the call for continuing support. Needed are:

Pop up tents
Sleeping bags

And other basic supplies

This will be a long struggle. The BLM and Harry Reid have stated that it is not over. We Oath Keepers plan on being there as long as it takes. Elias Alias, our Editor and Board member, is on his way to the Bundy Ranch today, for an extended stay. He's 67 years old, and a Vietnam Vet, who still heeds the call of freedom.

Men and women, from all corners of the nation, are rotating in and out of the Bundy Ranch. While they are there, they need our support. If you are going there yourself, please consider bringing extra supplies, such as the above. While Other County Executives Are Trying To Bring Jobs To Their Counties, Pollitt Is Trying To Bring In Trash Instead

Knock, Knock, Who's There? Rick Pollitt. NO THANKS, GO AWAY.

That's what happened recently when Pollitt's Team went to Worcester County to try and get them to send their trash to Wicomico County instead of New Jersey. Worcester County knows the history of Wicomico County and its liberal leadership. Start out with one price and in no time they'll raise the price.

Regardless of public input, Pollitt is desperately trying to move at warp speed to deliver ammunition back to the next meeting with the hope of selling the public with overwhelming interest from other Counties, it's failing. It kind of reminds me of the E.S. Adkins project and the Election Board, DOA.

We have yet to see ANY interest whatsoever in this proposed and unexpected project. WE NEED JOBS, NOT TRASH. And why haven't we seen any new jobs or industry, because Rick Pollitt is incapable of doing his job, period.

POLICE CONTINUE TO SEEK LEADS IN SALISBURY HOME INVASION

(SALISBURY, MD) – Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continue to seek leads in the investigation of a home invasion that left one dead and another injured early yesterday morning in Salisbury.

The deceased victim is identified as Donald G. Mariner, 72, of the 27,000-block of Pemberton Drive in Salisbury. Mariner was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results.

The identity of the second victim remains undisclosed at this time due to safety concerns. He is being treated for injuries sustained during the incident at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

The suspect is described as an African American male. Police believe he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time the crime occurred.

The preliminary investigation indicates the injured victim made the 9-1-1 call to police, reporting the home invasion on Pemberton Drive. Upon arrival, troopers from the Salisbury Barrack, sheriff deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the Salisbury Police Department found the injured victim, who told police he had been assaulted with a blunt object. He was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police also found Mariner inside the home. He was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel. Police believe the two victims were roommates.

During the initial stages of the investigation, police learned that Mariner’s Ford F150 pickup truck had been stolen from the residence. Police believe the truck may have been operating sometime between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Monday night to 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15th.

The truck was found abandoned on West Main Street near the VFW, approximately two miles from location of the crime. Anyone who may have seen the black Ford F150 in the area of Pemberton Drive or West Main Street is urged to call police.

Crime Solvers of the Lower Eastern Shore at 410-548-1776 is offering a reward of up to $2,000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continues the investigation…

Cliven Bundy's Nevada ranch wrecked by retreating feds

The federal government may have ordered Bureau of Land Management agents to stand down and ride away from the surveillance spots they took up outside a Nevada rancher’s cattle property — but they didn’t exactly go quietly.

Fox News reported BLM agents left a slew of property damages in their wake, including holes in water tanks, wrecked water lines and destroyed fences.

The federal force is also accused by family members of rancher Cliven Bundy of hiring so-called “cowboys” who killed two prized bulls.

“They had total control of this land for one week, and look at the destruction they did in one week,” said Corey Houston, a Bundy family friend, Fox News reported. “So why would you trust somebody like that? And how does that show that they’re a better steward?”

The BLM blinked first in the standoff that ensued over Mr. Bundy’s property and the dispute that’s waged for years over his grazing fees. Agents left Saturday — but they then sent officials to round up and take his livestock.

Is Your Home's Energy Meter Spying On You?

Utility companies across the U.S. are installing smart meters in customers’ homes, touting the technology’s energy-saving ways, but opponents argue that the meters are opening a Pandora’s box of privacy concerns.

The smart energy meters read electric or gas usage, and enable a power company to collect detailed usage data on a particular home or building. But the readings also gather personal information that some critics argue is too intrusive.

The information gathered from smart meters includes unencrypted data that can, among other details, reveal when a homeowner is away from their residence for long periods of time. The electric wattage readings can even decipher what type of activities a customer is engaged in, such as watching TV, using a computer or even how long someone spends cooking.

Mizeur Calls For State Funded Retirement Accounts

Del. Heather Mizeur, who is running for Maryland governor, has proposed a state-run retirement savings program to help workers who don't have retirement plans from their employers.

Mizeur, a Democrat, announced plans Wednesday for promoting the health, safety and security of Maryland's elderly population. She also wants to seek more funds for Alzheimer's research and create a registry of long-term care workers found guilty of abuse.

She estimates that the retirement savings program would become self-sufficient after a $360,000 start-up cost, and would have enough participants to make the user fees lower than alternative plans.

Gang leaders tell membership to paint gun barrels orange so cops will not shoot

Street crimes units from around the US are making a startling discovery. Gang members are painting the ends of gun barrel orange. The theory is that cops will be slower to shoot because that orange tip is a signal of being a toy gun.

Officers working out of Los Angeles first alerted us to this over the weekend. But soon enough reports have also come in from Chicago, New York and Dallas.

Many realistic looking toy guns, such as airsoft guns, are increasingly using orange tipped barrels in an attempt to signal the weapon is a fake. The last few years have seen an increase of police shootings where after the fact it was established the suspect had a toy gun.

Gang leaders are apparently using this trend to embolden their troops. Z-Bazz, leader of the Lucas Street Lords, was willing to talk with CallTheCops.

Michael Bloomberg Anounces He'll Spend $50 Million To Target The 2nd Amendment

Former New York City Mayor and radical left-wing bigwig, Michael Bloomberg, has a real problem with the 2nd Amendment. His long history of anti-gun activity is well established and his organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), has been at the forefront of the fight to eliminate your right to own a firearm.

For an idea of how much he hates the concept of private citizens owning their own guns, we need look no further than his organization's membership rolls. In a little more than a year, nearly 50 mayors have abandoned MAIG. In February one of Bloomberg's former MAIG allies, Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik, turned on him and offered a possible reason for the defections. He announced that the group's true goal was not "common sense reforms" but actual firearm confiscation.

(SALISBURY, MD) – Investigators from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit are investigating a home invasion that left one dead and another injured early this morning in Salisbury.

The second victim is not being identified at this time due to concerns for his safety. He was transported by emergency medical personnel to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during the home invasion.

The suspect is described as an African American male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Investigators are continuing to develop further leads regarding the suspect.

The investigation began just after 1:00 a.m. this morning, when troopers from the Salisbury Barrack along with officers from the Salisbury Police Department were dispatched to the 27000-block of Pemberton Drive in reference to a home invasion. A Letter To The Editor: Bike Lanes In Salisbury

Joe:

Note of interest of my experience yesterday!

Yesterday I was driving home from work at 5:00 p.m.on Route 13 North. As I approached the north end of town near the Tastee Freeze, I saw two bicylists riding in the bike lane beside one another. It is almost impossible to pass one bicycle that rides in the bike lane, let alone, two! A car ahead of me, actually pulled close to edge of road to almost to the curb near the light at Zion Road so the bicyclist could not continue in the bike lane. With that, one of the cyclist pulled into the middle lane between traffic and weaved in and out till he was back in bike lane. When I got to the intersection of Zion Road, this same crazy man, is riding in the right car lane and would not move over. I blew the horn continually and he just looked at me and would not move I did call the State Police because this man was being totally obnoxious and I am sure he was going to show the cars that he was in charge. He still would not move over, so I had to pull in the passing lane as a driver was courteous enough to move over for me. Someone not as nice as me would have ran him off the road. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got through that area.

The morale of this story is, there is NOT enough room on Route 13 for a bike route, and by the way there is a running pavement all down the side of Route 13. So, to the idiot who put the bike lane on Route 13, I do not know what you were thinking, especially when you get a jerk who is trying to take over the road on his bicylce.

Two People Allegedly Shot This Morning In Salisbury

We've been getting messages all morning stating two people have been shot in Salisbury this morning. We're trying to get to the bottom of it and we'll update you as soon as we can.

UPDATE: We're told there was a home invasion in Nithsdale last night. One person is dead and the other is in surgery.

UPDATE: As crazy as this might sound, we're getting word, (not confirmed) that there was a double shooting in Salisbury as well as the home invasion in Nithsdale. The home invasion, two patients were beaten with a baseball bat. Incredible!

UPDATE: As for the home invasion, one of the two male victims in Nithsdale is deceased. We're told it is a father and son.

Maryland’s “Most Dangerous” City Might Surprise You

Hampstead is the safest and Ocean City the most dangerous place to live in Maryland, according real estate research website Movoto.

The website ranked the 10 safest places to live in Maryland based on the FBI’s 2012 state crime report. Movoto evaluated towns with a population of at least 5,000 residents and compared violent crime numbers, the amount of property crime and the odds of a resident being a victim of a crime.

The company weighted each category: violent crime represented 50 percent of the ranking; property crime represented 30 percent of the ranking; the likelihood of a resident being a victim of crime represented 20 percent.

The five safest places to live in Maryland:

  1. Hampstead
  2. Ocean Pines
  3. Thurmont
  4. Glenarden
  5. Taneytown
Ocean City took home the title as the most dangerous place to live with a one-in-five chance of being the victim of a crime. Elkton and Baltimore ranked second and third.

County Council Will NOT Revisit RFP Lease With Board of Elections and E.S. Adkins

While John Hall wanted to, (and suggested) the Council revisit this location, the majority of the Council just decided to not bring it back for consideration.

Prettyman expressed her disgust that the people visiting today did not bring such passion during the public hearing on this matter, she also claimed she didn't have the proper information they learned today back when they voted on it two weeks ago. Lack of communication and information is a problem she said. She'd like to hold another public hearing on this matter. Council needs FOUR votes. There were NOT enough votes but Prettyman, (once again) tried to bring yet another vote back to the Council again. Incredible!

You should know that a few other business developers were present offering their support on this location.

NAACP President Mary Ashonte Calls For Overview Board With Subpoena Powers

"How did an unarmed man end up dead". Mary was referencing the recent MSP shooting in Salisbury.

Mary stated that she is receiving calls from concerned citizens from Baltimore, Worcester County and Delaware referencing too many African Americans and Latinos being charged and locked up too often. In many cases they are being harassed even after being arrested. She mentioned one person from Delmar in which law enforcement allegedly went to the suspects business clients to discuss the suspect.

Mary suggests the Police need better training especially after the latest shooting death. She believes we need to bring in the U.S. Department of Justice or the FBI to investigate these cases and added that she would like to see an Overview Board with subpoena powers.

So Where Is Salisbury City Government Heading?

Last night I got a text message telling me that WBOC had implied that the City Council and Mayor still want a raise, this is not true.

Last night Council President Jake Day asked that this agenda item be tabled. Of course Shanie Shields and Laura Mitchell wanted to move forward with a raise but Day and Spies said NO and gave a multitude of reasons why it shouldn't move forward.

Here's the deal. There is much to consider. Jake wants to look into a possible full time Mayor position. He is not saying he wants that to happen for Salisbury but in all fairness he wants to look into it as an option.

The other option is going back to a position in which the Council President would act as Mayor. Since Jake knows he wants to continue a political career down the road, there's no way he will vote in favor of ANY of these options as he does not want the public to ever be under the impression he is/was looking to pad additional income for himself. This, (to me) is quite honorable.

Jake has NO intention of EVER bringing this item back to the agenda while he is Council President. Now you have the TRUTH behind last nights decision to table this item. There will be NO RAISES for the Council or Mayor.

A Letter To The Editor: Casino at ocean downs

A few days ago a security guard posted a letter to the editor. As an employee of the casino I would like to set the record straight.

The things the security officer said was 100% true. Hard as it is to believe.

Ceiling tiles soaked and moldy due to rain leakage. Managers that have no idea what they're doing. As I read through the comments of the posting I couldn't believe people were blasting this guy or woman.

Come on you have no idea what it's like to work in extreme heat. I weigh 176 pounds but I guess I may need to lose some weight also. Former and current employees know what it's like to work for this circus. Clown wages and an atmosphere of a joke shop. The hr open door policy is never any help. Course the door is open for them hr bimbos to throw you through it. Them two are the most two faced, conniving, and back stabbers I've ever seen.

As for the things they write someone up over I could write a novel. I've went to the labor dept with my complaints and they won't touch the place. BBB wasn't any better either. The morale in the place isn't much better either. It would kill someone to give a hard working employee a compliment. Thank you still goes a long way. Don't make a mistake though, they'll never let you live it down.

As for the high rollers they're the Gods of the casino for they can never do no wrong. They can do anything they please and we just turn a blind eye. After all that's where the most revenue is coming from.

Every department in this place needs a raise. They have no idea the people and the attitudes we deal with on a daily basis. Big bosses get nice plush chairs to sit their butts in and do nothing all day but dictate what the little people should do. When will we have a say on how things operate and come to a mutual understanding? Probably never.

Thanks again to the guard for having the guts and the courage to stand up against the machine and all the dimwits within it.

Accused Bully Says Judge Who Sentenced Him To Hold Sign In Public 'Destroyed' His Life

The man accused of bullying his neighbors for 15 years, including children with developmental disabilities, carried out part of his punishment on Sunday by sitting at a busy intersection with a large sign that says he’s a bully.

Edmond Aviv, 62, endured five hours of people yelling at him from passing cars while holding a sign that said: "I AM A BULLY! I pick on children that are disabled, and I am intolerant of those that are different from myself. My actions do not reflect an appreciation for the diverse South Euclid community that I live in."

Aviv, who ignored the comments and rarely looked up, said the judge’s sentence and ensuing media coverage that garnered national and international attention ruined his life. He also denied he bullied the family.

“The judge destroyed me,” said Aviv, who refused to answer other questions. “This isn’t fair at all.”

A Letter To The Editor: Interesting topic on sports in the county

I wanted to share with you and your readers something I find rather interesting.

My son plays baseball for one of the high schools in Wicomico County. These players are asked to pay a $42 fee once they make the team that is referred to as “pay to play”. This is asked of all players, regardless of those on free/reduced lunch, etc.

There are some kids out there whose parents can’t afford to buy clothes for them, yet they have to cough up $42 to play sports.

I was under the assumption that this money went directly to the athletic budget to pay for equipment and such. I was rather disgusted to learn (although not confirmed) that this money doesn’t go to the school or to the athletic budget at all. Rather is goes to the Superintendent’s discretionary spend budget.

I know this was addressed at one point but to my knowledge, it is still the case. Friday afternoon the parents of the players were sent an email indicating that a person was stepping up to set up a concession stand for the games on Saturday. We were “informed” that said person would probably be asking for each of us to bring an item for the stand (which is completely fine) and to contribute $20. What for?

If each player contributes $20, that’s the fundraiser right there—over $600 in pure profit. This individual was pretty determined to collect the money, going from parent to parent and then to the players to shake them down. Let me add that each school charges $4 per head to attend games as well. Where is that money going? Apparently not to the team.

In all the years of baseball I have witnessed as a parent, from Tom Brown, Salvation Army, Little League, travel, etc, this high school ball has got to be the biggest racket going. I was hoping with your contacts, you could find out a little more on where our money goes and why it’s not going to the sports that we are paying for. It seems like we, the parents, are fully funding the sports. Shouldn’t that be in the budget?

Thanks Joe.

Make Your Own Peanut Butter Eggs At Home

The Reese’s seasonal peanut butter cup empire is now a year-round operation with hearts, pumpkins, and even footballs, but it all began with the humble peanut butter egg. What you might not know is that you can make this confection in your very own home, with ingredients that aren’t very hard to find.

Foodbeast has the recipe: the only ingredients you probably don’t have in your house right now are the chocolate coating and powdered peanut butter.

Thanks to the quirks of our food system, this project probably won’t be cheaper than buying a big bag of peanut butter eggs at the store, but it would be a fun project and you could use any fancy chocolate that interests you and might melt to the right consistency.

Plus, you can cake a page out of the Reese’s (cook)book and make them in any shape you want.
