The federal government may have ordered Bureau of Land Management agents to stand down and ride away from the surveillance spots they took up outside a Nevada rancher’s cattle property — but they didn’t exactly go quietly.
Fox News reported BLM agents left a slew of property damages in their wake, including holes in water tanks, wrecked water lines and destroyed fences.
The federal force is also accused by family members of rancher Cliven Bundy of hiring so-called “cowboys” who killed two prized bulls.
“They had total control of this land for one week, and look at the destruction they did in one week,” said Corey Houston, a Bundy family friend, Fox News reported. “So why would you trust somebody like that? And how does that show that they’re a better steward?”
The BLM blinked first in the standoff that ensued over Mr. Bundy’s property and the dispute that’s waged for years over his grazing fees. Agents left Saturday — but they then sent officials to round up and take his livestock.

ReplyDeleteHow about you look into the story a little deeper. You let your brief msm material override your thought process
DeleteThis isn't about fees. It's about Chinese companies wanting land for cheap or for free. Even if he was paying them he would have had to go like all the others that had grazing rights. They were all bought back by Clark county and "retired." 54 other ranchers.
ReplyDeleteThey've been trying hard to get all the animals off that land for years now including the wild mustangs and the burros.
This is such an abuse of power, I do not know where to start. In defiance of federal law 92-195, USC 16, 16, 1331, the BLM has been gathering up wild horses off the Nevada range with a vengeance beginning in December of 2009 following the appointment of Ken Salazar as the Secretary of Interior.
According to Senator Conrad Burns, it was Senator Reid who asked him to insert a rider into the 2004-2005 omnibus spending bill that would allow for the slaughter of wild horses and the ability for wild horses to be sold without limitation. Then retreated to Senator Burns office to compose the rider, and as agreed upon, Senator Burns slipped this rider into the bill just prior to the vote. Since Senator Burns was chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, he could do this without calling attention to it. Both of these men knew that the Congress would never agree to the massive slaughter of America’s horses, but they had no moral compunction about putting the will of this one man over a law that was passed unanimously by Congress and upheld as constitutional by a unanimous decision of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, there may be as many as 50-60,000 wild horses illegally removed from their herd management areas through the discretionary power granted to the Secretary of Interior. Horses on the range cost the American tax payer $0. The BLM’s wild horse and burro program mismanaged in every way imaginable and in some ways not so imaginable has cost the tax payer millions of dollars to support a program that operates above the law, without standards of scientific integrity, or any standards of integrity.
Obama, who blindly supports anything green and who seems disconnected from the role that horses have played in the West and their positive effects on the ecology, has allowed Senator Reid to do as he pleases as long as he stops legislation from going forward that the administration opposes.
We have had a do nothing Senate for years. If we had a budget process, perhaps someone might have spotted what was going on in Nevada before now.
Now we know why Senator Reid has been so intent on roundup almost every wild horse in Nevada.
Wveryone thought it was because of the Nevada Cattlemen’s Association and the Public Lands Council and their very small but well-funded, powerful lobby. But now we now why (solar farms) new legislation to protect America’s Wild Horses and Burros never had a chance to see the light of day
It seems another Ruby Ridge or Waco may be developing. An out of control armed agency demonstrating total disregard for the citizenry is stunning. A temporary stand-off is nothing to be happy about, expecially when a U. S. Senator (Reid) indicates that it is not finished is very chilling indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe Obama admin has been doing the same thing to people who for generations have rented oil and gas leases. These people made and continue to make 100's of 1000's in investments on these properties and when Salazar was appointed head of the Dept of Interior he said he didn't care if gas went to $9/gallon, he was not going to issue the permits for these people to continue to drill. They are slowing giving up their leases because they can't afford them anymore.
ReplyDeletePresident Bush lowered gas prices with the stoke of his pen by issuing more permits to drill when gas prices got out of sight under his watch.
You will see. Some big business will end up using these wells for little or no money to the American people as is happening with this NV desert land.
No. This is about a man who stopped paying his grazing fees twenty-one years ago.
ReplyDeleteBundy does not recognize federal authority over land where his ancestors first settled in the 1880s, which he claims belongs to the state of Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management disagreed and took him to federal court, which first ruled in favor of the BLM in 1998. After years of attempts at a negotiated settlement over the $1.2 million Bundy owes in fees failed, federal land agents began seizing hundreds of his cattle illegally grazing on public land last week.
OMG you have to be a fan of MSNBC or you rode the short bus
DeleteLooks like a few on here just can't (or won't) see the forest for the trees.
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong 6:04. They revoked his grazing permit years ago and not because of the grazing fees. It was because of the supposed endangered desert tortoise. He hasn't paid the fees, true but that wasn't the issue anymore. All the ranchers that had permits are gone from the area. When I get a few more minutes I will pull up for you the court docs that show this isn't about owing fees. It's about trespassing.
ReplyDeleteThere was absolutely NO attempt whatsoever, by no one's stretch of the imagination to negotiate any kind of fee settlement. If you read that somewhere it is a complete fabrication.
I am well aware of what has been going on with not only the cattle ranchers, but the wild mustangs, burros and tortoises in that area well before you and probably anyone else on this blog knew the place even existed, so I can tell you unequivocally you are incorrect.
6:04-The 1.2 million dollar figure and other figures that have been tossed out are not what he owed in grazing fees. That is a fine incurred for "trespass damages" after he defied a 1998 order to remove the cattle.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you read or hear there was an attempt to negotiate?
America get ready this how the government is going to be if we don't get this aholes out of office
ReplyDeleteNo, this is about politicians who have gotten too drunk with power. It needs to end.
ReplyDeleteI'm now for the Witch Party to take over DE politics. We have an AG that turned the other way while a pediatrician molested his patients and, more recently, did the same while a DuPont raped a child relative. Not much I personally can do for MD as they are beyond repair.
I've read the Complaint. It's attached to many of the stories concerning the Bundy Ranch saga.
ReplyDeleteIn the early 1990's he didn't renew the permit, so of course he didn't pay the fee. The following year-one year or less-, the BLM cancelled the permit.
By cancelling the permit, all ties between the parties were severed. These ties would include not only Bundy being authorized to use the land, but also Bundy's obligation to pay. In other words, once the permit was cancelled, he was under no obligation legally to pay any fees associated with the permit.
I don't much give a damn if Bundy owes the govt some fees for grazing his cattle - that's debatable, at best. Aren't any of you liberal jackasses the least bit appalled by the militarization of the BLM and other 'service' organizations? Why do these bastards have SWAT and snipers while the border patrol is under-staffed, under-armed, and under-utilized. And why do they send enforcers after a rancher, but refused to send aid to our consulate in Benghazi? Honestly, you liberals and Obama apologists are looking more pathetically ignorant all the time.
ReplyDeleteBravo!!! or Brava!!!! Which ever one fits.
DeleteI wish some democrat would come on here and tell me what they have to be proud of. Is it the slaughter of all the wild horses and burros or the execution of the desert turtle? Or maybe the heathcare bill that if not for the cancellation of so many existing policies would have fallen flat on it's face.
ReplyDeleteIt was not only Reid and Burns(MT) but also Dorgan (ND) who are responsible for the wild horse slaughters aka "The Sale Authority."
President GW Bush being a decent man tried his dammest to find a way to veto the rider but since he had no line authority couldn't and was forced to sign the omnibus bill. Reid's involvement in this was known by the end of 2004. It wasn't until Obama took office that any aggressive actions were taken against the wild horses or Bundy either. In 2012 the connection between Reid and his son and the foreign solar energy companies and the public land in NV started to surface and the reasons why he wanted the all the animals on the land gone became obvious.
You should give a damm 10:36. Knowing the whole story in it's truthfulness and entirety is important. The use of excessive force will be justified by some who are falsely led to believe it was about fees the rancher owed.
ReplyDeleteThis goes along time ago, an was and still continues to be an orchestrated way for Reid to line the pockets of his family.
Most people aren't aware Reid son's was the president of the Clark County NE council. He was instrumental in having the county purchase back from all the other ranchers in S NV's Clark Co, grazing permits in the 90's, costing the county nearly $400,000. He shortly then gave up his position on the council, waited the required year and then became a lobbyist for the Chinese solar energy company.
Haven't you heard the saying-"the enemy of my enemy is my friend?"
With regards to this issue you should take that saying to heart.
11:12 - maybe (10:36) I wasn't clear. I DO understand the background to this case. The point I'm trying to make is that the govt response was way out of proportion to anything Bundy allegedly may have done. I'm beyond fed-up with this administration's selective law-enforcement. So, no, I don't give a damn about some questionable fees that Bundy may have owed to the feds. I've had some experience with that crap myself in the form of a local land theft called 'critical areas'.

Thank you for your uninformed opinion.
Tell me, if the Bundy's are thugs, what are the gubmint agents, including snipers? Heroes?
