Black Lives Matter Leader: If America ‘Doesn’t Give Us What We Want, We Will Burn Down this System’

Appearing Wednesday on the Fox News Channel’s The Storywith host Martha MacCallum, Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome warned that if the United States “doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it.”

A partial transcript is as follows:

MARTHA MACCALLUM: People watch what you say in that video, that you now want to show legislation down people’s throats now that you have everyone’s attention and you’ve also said violence is sometimes necessary in these situations. What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?

HAWK NEWSOME: Wow, it’s interesting that you would pose that question like that because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what’s our diplomacy across the globe? We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical.

[…]

MACCALLUM: The only reason why I posed that first question to you the way that I did is I watched you talking on a bunch of different interviews today and you said, “burn it down.” You said, “burn it down, it’s time.” That makes me think you want to burn it down.

HAWK NEWSOME: I said If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down the system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking figuratively, I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation. Let’s be very real and let’s observe the history of the 1960s. When black people were rioting, we have their highest growth and wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks. Since you started protesting there have been eight cops fired across the country. Remember you were telling us that there was Due Process?

That’s why the cop that choked Eric Gardner kept his job and kept receiving raises for five years. Anytime a cop hurt a woman, a child, our elders, there was always a call for due process. But the moment people start destroying property, now cops can be fired automatically. What is this country rewarding? What behavior is it listening to? Obviously not marching. But, when people get aggressive and they escalate their protests, cops get fired, now, you have police officers and Republican politicians talking about police reform. I don’t condone nor do I condemn rioting but I’m just telling what I observed.

California Legislature Repeals Proposition 209; Places Race-based Affirmative Action on Ballot

The California State Senate passed a constitutional amendment on Wednesday to repeal Proposition 209, a ballot initiative passed in 1996 to prevent the state from discriminating on the basis of race for any purpose.

Effectively, Prop 209 prevents race-based affirmative action in state contracts, government jobs, and university admissions. It was supported by African American civil rights leader Ward Connerly, and is very popular among Asian Americans, who suffer the primary burden of affirmative action at universities.

Strzok Notes Reveal Biden Knew About Flynn Probe Despite His Denials

Former Vice President and now 2020 Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden claimed months ago that he knew “nothing” about moves to investigate former Trump National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Michael Flynn, but newly-released documents proved otherwise.

Biden, appearing in May on ABC News’ This Week, was asked by news anchor and host George Stephanopoulos what he knew about moves to investigate Flynn while he was vice president.

Willie Richardson: Chicago: Another Weekend From Hell

Why don't black lives matter when other blacks are the ones taking those lives?

What was supposed to be a weekend that black Americans celebrated Juneteenth, a holiday marking the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States, turned into another bloody massacre. Is this even news anymore? Is this what should be expected of neophyte bloodthirsty gang bangers seeking approval from veteran gangsters? Is this just what young, black, father-absent males do?

Chicago’s urban violence is one of the talking points of black conservatives when the misguided Black Lives Matter mob comes up; and rightfully so. In no other American urban city do you see this scale of reckless violence on demand every other weekend. Just like there’s 24 hours in a day, you can bet your bottom dollar that another urban innocent child will be lost to street violence.

This past weekend 104 people were shot, while 12 were fatally wounded.

ONE HUNDRED FOUR PEOPLE IN ONE WEEKEND. Let this marinate.

If white cops shot this many unarmed urban youth in five years, America would be on fire from sea to shining sea. But it’s just those gang bangers killing again; business as usual. Have we become numb and dumb to the senseless violence? Let’s test our sensibilities.

Nate Jackson: Pelosi's Chokehold on Police Reform

Her brazen race-baiting lie: Republicans are "trying to get away with the murder of George Floyd."

Republicans are “trying to get away with murder, actually — the murder of George Floyd,” claims Nancy Pelosi. Where’s the Leftmedia’s army of “fact-checkers” for Pelosi’s latest race-baiting lie? The House speaker used this noxious slander to slam, of all things, what she called the GOP’s “unsalvageable piece of legislation” on police reform — written, no less, by black Republican Senator Tim Scott.

Floyd’s death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer was indeed unjust, though we’ve speculated that Minnesota’s radical Democrat Attorney General Keith Ellison isdeliberately overreaching on murder charges so as to “prove” that the system is racist. Regardless, Republicans in the Senate led the charge with the JUSTICE Act, a bill providing thoughtful, careful, and needed reforms for police. It’s certainly not perfect and the federal government has only a limited role (primarily by attaching strings to funding), but it’s a worthy start.

Nevertheless, Pelosi complained that there are irreconcilable differences, like banning chokeholds. “We’re saying no chokeholds,” Pelosi said. “They’re not saying no chokeholds. I mean, there’s a big difference there. What’s the compromise? Some chokeholds? I don’t see what the compromise is.” The truth? Democrats want Congress to enact a blanket ban while Republicans want to incentivize local bans.

Scott would also require much greater data reporting from police departments, but Democrats want even more. “Their goal,” explains The Wall Street Journal, “is to use a paint-by-colors ‘disparate impact’ analysis to show ‘patterns and practices’ of policing. This will make it easier for the Justice Department to sue local police departments under the 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act.”

Trump administration activates National Guard to protect DC monuments

The Trump administration has activated the National Guard to protect monuments during anti-racism protests in Washington, according to a report.

Interior Secretary David Bernhardt requested the deployment this week, Fox News first reported, citing a senior defense official.

The move follows the toppling on Friday of DC’s only statue of a Confederate leader, Albert Pike, near the city’s police headquarters. On Monday, protesters unsuccessfully tried to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson facing the White House.

President Trump called the assault on Jackson’s statue, which was lassoed with ropes, a “sneak attack” and warned activists they face up to 10 years in prison under the Veterans’ Memorial Preservation Act.

The number of people protesting against racism and police brutality in Washington has diminished since an initial wave of protests in late May and early June against the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.

Offshore, a few wahoo have been caught recently and anglers have been catching and releasing white marlin and at least one blue marlin recently.

Dear White People: Please Do Not Read Robin DiAngelo’s “White Fragility”

A destructive book full of bad reasoning and bad advice is topping the bestseller charts

On June 5th, Jonathan Capehart wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post entitled, “Dear White People, Please Read ‘White Fragility’.” In it, he writes that Robin DiAngelo, the book’s author, “forces white people to see and understand how white supremacy permeates their lives and to recognize how they perpetuate it. More importantly, she shows them what they can do to change themselves and dismantle this pernicious system.”

In the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death, race in America has shot to the top of the headlines. It comes as no surprise, then, that books like White Fragility and How to Be an Anti-Racist, as Jeffrey Trachtenberg noted this week in the Wall Street Journal, “are among many titles related to racial issues leading Amazon’s bestseller list.”

Will these books help?

Unfortunately, the answer is no.

Coronavirus: How The CDC Lost Control Of The Pandemic. Then The Agency Disappeared.

The world’s premier health agency pushed a flawed coronavirus containment strategy — until it disappeared from public view one day before the outbreak was declared a pandemic.

On January 17, the world’s most trusted public health agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, announced it was screening travelers from Wuhan, China, because of a new infectious respiratory illness striking that city.

It was the CDC’s first public briefing on the outbreak, coming as China reported 45 cases of the illness and two deaths linked to a seafood and meat market in Wuhan. Chinese health officials had not yet confirmed that the new illness was transmitted from person to person. But there was reason to believe that it might be: four days earlier, officials in Thailand confirmed their first case, a traveler from Wuhan who had not visited the seafood market.

“Based on the information that CDC has today, we believe the current risk from this virus to the general public is low,” said Nancy Messonnier, the CDC’s director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. Messonnier, 54, was a veteran of the CDC’s renowned Epidemiological Intelligence Service, where she had risen through the ranks during the national responses to the anthrax attacks and the previous decade’s swine flu pandemic to eventually head the agency’s vaccines center.

Most of the novel coronavirus’s infections apparently went “from animals to people,” she explained, and human transmission was “limited.”

Some states have embraced online voting. It's a huge risk.

People’s phones, tablets and computers are vulnerable to hackers. Securing the internet could take a decade or more. But some states are plowing ahead anyway.

Some West Virginians voting in Tuesday’s primary will be allowed to tap on their phones or laptops instead of heading to the polls. Some in Delaware will get to do the same next month. And the trend may spread into November, as the coronavirus pandemic inspires a search for voting methods that don’t expose people to the deadly disease.

But moving elections to the internet poses huge risks that the United States is unprepared to handle — endangering voters’ privacy, the secrecy of the ballot and even the trustworthiness of the results.

2020 Statue Destruction Craze Needs to End

Show Me on the Statue Where Stupidity Hurt You

Enough already. The statue-toppling phase of 2020 riot season doesn’t seem to be losing any steam. Honestly, I had no idea there were even that many statues in the United States, or the world, for that matter. There seems to be some sort of resignation settling upon the land and a lot of people have just decided that letting the unbathed idiot mob knock over statues is better than having them, riot so the antics are being met with a collective shrug now.

The discussion about the removal of Confederate statues was a valid one, but that didn’t last long before the mob started going after all statues like predators after wounded prey.

Matt wrote a post yesterday detailing just how idiotic the anti-statue crowd has become:

There’s a memorial statue Lincoln Park in Washington D.C. that depicts President Abraham Lincoln holding a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing a slave. The Emancipation Memorial, also called Freedman’s Memorial, apparently offends Black Lives Matter protestors, who, on Tuesday, vowed to topple it down.

That’s right, Lincoln is getting canceled for freeing the slaves by the people who want racial healing or something.

Beware: The Woke Mob Is Targeting You Next, Small-Town America

Woke mobs are coming for you if you are an elected official with conservative values. In cities and towns all across America, organized and well-funded protest groups have begun attacking city councilors, mayors, county commissioners, and members of school boards. It’s not just the big cities. Increasingly, small towns have faced similar harassment. The woke mob has targeted local elected officials for the sin of not being sufficiently woke. Its goal appears to be to intimidate conservatives from getting involved at any level of government. It also appears that the mob efforts are expanding faster than anyone realizes.

Here in Oregon, the small, rural, conservative-leaning towns of Estacada and Mollala have recently seen elected officials threatened with recall. In Oregon City, a medium-sized city south of Portland, a protest group has organized a recall against the mayor. The suburb of Gresham saw resignations from its mayor, city manager, and chief of police. And in Salem, the state’s capital, several school board members have been targeted for destruction.

This trend is growing and expanding and it appears to be the work of well-funded progressive groups on the local level with ties to large national non-profits pushing a radical agenda.

Laura Ingraham on far-left violence: 'Democrats have created a monster that escaped the lab'

Laura Ingraham blasted the leadership of the Democratic Party in her "Angle" monologue Wednesday night, saying they "have created a monster."

"We told you that they saw the coronavirus as a political opportunity to exploit, not a medical issue to manage," the "Ingraham Angle" host said. "When vote by mail and the Green New Deal recovery proposal started to resurface, it was obvious where all of this was going.

"What we didn't realize, however, was how far they can take things," Ingraham went on. "Welcome to the Summer of Love."

Ingraham then turned to the Tuesday night chaos in Madison, Wis., where protesters tore down a statue of a famed abolitionist and attacked State Senator Tim Carpenter, who Ingraham described as "an extremely liberal Democrat," for recording a demonstration.

"He was literally mugged by reality," Ingraham said of Carpenter.

Update from Governor Hogan on COVID-19: “We Must All Continue To Remain Vigilant”

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following update to Marylanders regarding the state’s ongoing response to COVID-19:

“While yesterday the United States saw a record number of COVID-19 cases, in Maryland, our key health metrics continue to trend in a positive direction. Our daily positivity rate reached a new low of 4.38%, and our seven-day positivity rate fell to 5.05%. Our total current hospitalizations have dropped to 511, their lowest level in 83 days. We have now conducted more than 600,000 tests, and have nearly 200 testing sites available across the state.

“As we continue to safely reopen, it is important to remember that this crisis is still not behind us. More than 65,000 Marylanders have been infected, and more than 3,000 Marylanders have now lost their lives to this deadly virus. We mourn each and every loss.

“Because of our early and aggressive actions, Maryland is better positioned for an economic comeback than nearly every other state in America. Our unemployment rate is more than one-third better than the national average. We have led, and will continue to lead, on the road to economic recovery.

“Now more than ever, as we begin to come into contact with more people, we must all continue to remain vigilant. Our health and economic recovery depends on all of us continuing to exercise personal responsibility in order to keep ourselves, our family members, our neighbors, and our coworkers safe. We encourage all Marylanders to get tested, wear a mask, and practice physical distancing.

“Throughout this crisis, Marylanders have been strong, resilient, and they have never lost hope. And now, while we still have miles to go on our road to recovery, I have no doubt that the people of our great state will continue setting an example for the rest of the nation.”

OC Police Use Cell Phone To Track Carjacking Suspects; Wicomico Authorities Nab Suspects After Crash

The victim was not still in the carjacked vehicle and told police what had happened. The victim reportedly told police he had backed his vehicle into a parking space at 9th Street and was talking on his cell phone with his cousin when the alleged incident occurred.

"This Is Madness" - MSM Angry That They Lost Sway Over The Gun-Control Narrative

At least one major mainstream media outlet, the LA Times, has been reportedly “angry” that gun sales have shot up because of the tyrannical takeover of government in response to the COVID-19 panic they induced. Apparently, fear can have effects on the public that the MSM and government do no want – more self-reliance.

According to a report by Big League Politics, the LA Times is “throwing a fit” that other humans are buying weapons to defend themselves against the obvious tyranny. Remember, this follows their theme. The more dependent you are on them and the system they set up against you, the easier you will be to control. Taking your self-defense into your own hands was never a part of their plans.

In fact, the LA Times editorial board described the increase in gun sales as follows:

Since the start of the pandemic, Americans are buying more guns. The FBI says it conducted a record 3.7 million background checks for would-be gun buyers, a loose proxy for firearm sales, in March as lockdown orders spread across the nation.

In April the checks dropped to 2.9 million but rebounded to 3.1 million in May. The monthly average for 2019 - itself a record year for background checks — was 2.4 million. So even as we get fresh studies connecting possession of firearms with increased risk of gun violence, accidental shootings (usually by children) and suicides, we are adding more firearms to the nation’s already numbingly large privately owned arsenal of some 300 million guns (no reliable count is available) owned by about a third of the population.

Larry C. Johnson: President Obama and Vice President Biden Directly Involved in Coup to Stop Trump – With Update

When it comes to the Michael Flynn case the media, along with vast swaths of the pliant public, are like a stupid dog that reflexively chases a shiny object or a phantom squirrel. The latest development is that the District of Columbia Court of Appeals ruled 2 to 1 to order crooked Judge Emmet Sullivan to accede to the Department of Justice request to drop the case against Flynn. While this ruling merits attention, the real news is that we now have documentary evidence that President Obama and Vice President Biden were involved directly and personally in orchestrating the entrapment and prosecution of Michael Flynn.

A Peter Strzok note, apparently penned on the 4 January 2017, recorded the discussion about Flynn with Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Sally Yates, Jimmy Comey, Susan Rice and Strzok (it looks like Comey took him along specifically as his note taker). Here it is:

Strzok nails Obama and Biden as masterminds behind Flynn probe

Notes show Comey deemed Kislyak call 'legit' but prosecuted anyway

Newly released handwritten notes by fired FBI investigator Peter Strzok show President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden had a direct role in the prosecution of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, whose charges were ordered dropped by an appeals court Wednesday.

Strzok – memorializing a Jan. 4, 2017, meeting in the Oval Office regarding Flynn's phone call with Russian Ambassador Kislyak – said that Biden wanted to invoke the Logan Act against Flynn and that Obama ordered the investigation.

Obama, according to the notes, sought to have "the right people on the case."

The Logan Act is a rarely used 1799 law that bars unauthorized American citizens from negotiating official national business with foreign countries that are in conflict with the U.S.

New Hotel Fails To Make Bayside Boardwalk Payment; City Withholding Certificate Of Occupancy

OCEAN CITY — It appears the future of a new hotel under construction just north of the Route 50 Bridge is in question for this summer after resort officials this week denied a plea from the developer to defer a $165,000 contribution to the town for a bayside Boardwalk.

For the last four years, the new Cambria Hotel along the waterfront at 1st Street has steadily risen from the ground on the site of the old Cropper Concrete plant just north of the bridge. Through the spring, finishing touches were put on the new hotel and it appeared the facility was headed toward an opening at some point early in the 2020 season.

However, as a condition of the zoning amendment that allowed for the development of a hotel on an old industrially-zoned parcel and as a condition of the site plan approval for the project, the developer agreed to convey a 10-foot wide public access easement along the bayside of the property and contribute $165,000 toward the continued development of a bayside boardwalk in that area. In short, the developer, Ocean Hospitality I, would pay $165,000 toward the bayside boardwalk, long a desire of the town of Ocean City to connect commercial properties along the waterfront in that area.

The treasonous head of John Kerry rears again

John Kerry, a failed senator, a failed presidential candidate, and a failed secretary of state, is back again, campaigning in Florida for Joe Biden.

True to character, he's put his treason-face on. According to the Washington Examiner:

Former Secretary of State John Kerry raised the possibility that a victory by President Trump could provoke a revolution in the United States, claiming that Republicans have a history of denying voting rights to Democratic voters.

"If people don't have adequate access to the ballot, I mean that's the stuff on which revolutions are built," Kerry said during a virtual appearance at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. "If you begin to deny people the capacity of your democracy to work, even the Founding Fathers wrote in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, we have an inherent right to challenge that. And I'm worried that increasingly, people are disaffected."

This is utterly untrue. It comes off as foreign propaganda, of the type Russia puts out, intended to sow falling confidence in the integrity of elections. If a Democrat loses, he's saying, it has to be because Republicans suppressed the vote.

My Wife Is Black. My Son Is Biracial. But White Supremacy Lives Inside Me

My son is 9 years old. He’s big and beautiful and biracial, and although my wife and I have always known we would need to prepare him to face racism, we’ve never talked to him or his little sister about police violence against Black people. Not until now.

He wept when we told him about George Floyd. His voice shaking, he asked whether the same thing would one day happen to him.

My wife and I told him to draw about his feelings, and what he brought back to us broke both our hearts. In pen, he’d drawn a white police officer standing in front of a cruiser, holding up a smoking gun and looking down at an unseen corpse. My son had written the words “Killed Me,” with an arrow pointing down at his own body, lying lifeless just outside the frame of the page.

There’s nothing my son can do to prevent this nightmare from becoming a reality. There’s nothing he can do to change the way the world will see him when he grows into a tall, broad-shouldered Black man.

To protect my son, and every other Black boy and girl in America, white people must change the way our own eyes see the world. We must do the work of stamping out white supremacy where it lives: in our systems, and in ourselves.

House Democrats pass police reform bill that will likely be blocked by Senate

House Democrats approved a police reform bill Thursday in response to the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota — but Republicans said the vote was a PR stunt that wasted an opportunity for consensus.

The Justice in Policing Act passed 236-181 over Republican warnings that the bill won’t pass the Senate or reach President Trump’s desk. Three Republicans and all Democrats voted in favor.

“Half measures are not enough. Pretend sham measures are not enough,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

The bill would restrict chokeholds and ban federal agents from conducting no-knock drug raids. It would curtail transfers of military equipment to police, create an officer misconduct registry, end qualified immunity from lawsuits and lower the threshold to federally prosecute officers if they show “reckless disregard” for someone’s life.

Ocean City Police/Fire Marshal Arrest Man for Destructive Device

OCEAN CITY, MD – On June 10, 2020, the Ocean City Fire Department was dispatched to the Homestead Apartments, 106 14th Street, for a reported explosion and possible building fire. Upon the fire department’s arrival, multiple occupants of the two-story, apartment building were evacuating. Fire officials determined that an aerial shell firework had been lit and exploded in an enclosed second floor stairwell, endangering the approximately 24 people occupying the two dwelling units served by the stairwell. Fire damage was limited to a small area of the stairwell and occupants were able to later return to their units. No injuries were reported.

Through a joint investigation by fire investigators and OCPD detectives, Jamie Carl Bouma, Jr., 21, of Sykesville, MD arrested and charged with possession/use of a destructive device, two counts of reckless endangerment, malicious destruction of property less than $1000, and discharging fireworks without a permit. Bouma was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was released on a $25,000 bond.

“The reckless discharge of illegal fireworks inside a building or anywhere in a congested urban area like Ocean City is incredibly dangerous and puts the lives of occupants and bystanders in danger,” commented Fire Marshal Josh Bunting. “Thankfully, no injuries occurred as a result of this incident.”

Visitors and residents in Ocean City are reminded that, with very limited exceptions, all fireworks are illegal to possess and use in Ocean City. Penalties include fines of up to $1000 and possible jail time, depending on the incident.

Rhode Island Becomes First State to Change Its Name

The tiny state of Rhode Island announced that because some people are too stupid and too dense to understand that some words have several meanings, they will move to change the official name of their state.

The “official” name of the state is “The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.” But to those choosing to be ignorant — or those who really are — “plantations” means “a usually large farm or estate, especially in a tropical or semitropical country, on which cotton, tobacco, coffee, sugar cane, or the like is cultivated, usually by resident laborers.”

But in the context as it was originally intended, “plantations” referred to a new colony. But what does context matter when there are dragons to slay? It has been decided that we should choose to remove context and substitute personal interpretation of meaning.

RI.gov:

Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner today made the following announcement about his office’s use of the state’s name:

“Today, I am announcing that the Office of the General Treasurer will remove the words “and Providence Plantations” from the state’s checks. We will also remove those words from our letterhead, citations, and other Office correspondence.

The Rhode Island treasurer says he talked to African American leaders who complain the word makes them uncomfortable.

For African-Americans and other People of Color, ‘plantations’ are synonymous with centuries of race-based slavery and violence. In my discussions with African-American leaders in recent weeks, they have explained the chilling feeling they have when seeing the word “plantations” on Rhode Island government letters, citations, and checks.

Pelosi: Senate Republicans Are Trying to Get Away with the ‘Murder of George Floyd’

Tuesday on CBS Radio, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) accused Senate Republicans of trying to get away with not doing serious police reform in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

When host Steve Futterman asked if a compromise could be reached with Republicans in the Senate, Pelosi said, “Well, you be the judge. We’re saying ‘no chokeholds.’ They’re not saying, ‘no chokeholds.’ I mean, there’s a big difference.”

She continued, “What’s the compromise? ‘Some chokeholds’? I don’t see what the compromise is. You know, ‘No racial profiling?’ Maybe ‘some’? So the point, Steve, is the following: They understand that there’s a need to get something done. The press has given them so much play for this bare leaves, unsalvageable piece of legislation, and then say, ‘Well, can’t you compromise with that?’ No, because it is — ‘no.’ And we are, ‘yes.’ It isn’t, ‘maybe.’”
