McDonald’s Recalls 1 Million Chicken Nuggets For A Super Gross Reason

If you needed another reason not to eat the “food” at McDonald’s, we have it for you. Customers have reported finding “blue plastic” and “vinyl” as well as other stomach-churning items such as human tooth fragments in their chicken McNuggets. Just another reason to eat at home.

McDonald’s Japan is having a rough start to 2015. Last week, the company apologized after a customer found plastic fragments in an order of Chicken McNuggets, which were thought to have been produced at a Cargill factory in Thailand. McDonald’s pulled out nearly 1 million McNuggets from the factory in one day. The same week, a customer in Misawa found a piece of vinyl in an order of McNuggets.

In a statement about the plastic contamination, company spokesman Takashi Hasegasa said, “We deeply apologize for the trouble we have caused our customers and we are taking quick measures to analyze the cause of the contamination.”

Plastic and vinyl are, sadly, not the only gross items that customers have found in their McDonald’s meals over the past year. In August, the company received a complaint from a customer in Osaka who had found the shard of a human tooth in an order of french fries. It was unclear at press time if the customer was in fact “lovin’ it.

Obama Tells Cops He’ll Continue Giving Them Military Equipment, Just Don’t Be Racist

One of the early issues surrounding what happened in Ferguson was the use of military styled equipment against protesters. While many were reserving judgement regarding what happened between Michael Brown and Officer Darren Wilson, which ended up with Brown dead, many people were concerned over the use of said military style equipment, even after the riots, looting, and arson broke out. This prompted a “national discussion” over police using that equipment, and why they need it. No worries, though, Obama is available to provide more!

(Daily Caller) President Obama quietly issued an executive order Friday in which he continued to give local police departments military-style tanks, but also created a working group to make sure that the tanks won’t be used in a racist way.

“For decades, the Federal Government has provided equipment to State, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies [LEAs] through excess equipment transfers [including GSA donations], asset forfeiture programs, and Federal grants,” Obama stated in the executive order.

“These programs have assisted LEAs as they carry out their critical missions to keep the American people safe. The equipment acquired by LEAs through these programs includes administrative equipment, such as office furniture and computers. But it also includes military and military-styled equipment, firearms, and tactical vehicles provided by the Federal Government.”

$harpton-Styled Protesters Mock Soldier Trying to Get to Hospital for Surgery, Call Him “Mr. White Privilege,” Attack “Whiny White People”

As a veteran of the US Army was trying to get to the hospital in Boston last week, he found whiney BlackLivesMatters/Al $harpton-styled protesters blocking I-94 preventing him from getting to his surgery appointment. But when he went to Twitter to complain about it, hate-filled protesters attacked him as having “white privilege” and called him a “whiney white person.”

Joe Sheehan is a soldier who was trying to get to ear surgery so he could remain in the military and continue to serve. His comments were his own and he was not speaking on behalf of the military in any way. The person mocking him in the above tweet cares so much about Eric Garner, he can’t even spell his name correctly. ‘Viva La Causa’ is about “leftist causes” and “understands why al Qaeda brought down the Twin Towers”.

But this is how protesters described objections to their ‘protest’ of blocking I-93 in Boston, and hating on white people, including Sheehan:

Tense moments in Texas Capitol when open carry advocates confront Dem lawmaker

While it’s debatable just how much it helps their cause, some open carry advocates in Texas continue to pursue aggressive tactics in support of the right to bear arms — much to the chagrin of at least one Democratic state lawmaker.

Members of the group Open Carry Tarrant County were in the Texas Capitol on Tuesday advocating for a bill that would undo a 125-year ban on the open carry of handguns when they visited the office of state Rep. Poncho Nevarez, D-Eagle Pass, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Group leader Kory Watkins recorded the visit, posting it on Facebook and YouTube.

As can be seen in the video, things quickly became tense when the activists start calling Nevarez “a tyrant to the Constitution.”

Senior cop blasts schools chief for 'trying to cover up sex crimes'

A senior Texas police officer has accused a school superintendent of trying to cover up allegations that four teachers had sex with pupils by investigating the crimes himself.

Stan Standridge, Abilene Police Chief, said local school superintendent Heath Burns interrogated staff himself before involving police, and has tried to trip up investigators ever since.

Mr Standridge also accused Mr Burns of censoring his complaints after he was barred from a school board meeting on Monday, where he planned to discuss his concerns with trustees.

Police began their inquiries into the Abilene Independent Schools District in December last year after Michael Trook, 29, the dean of Holland Medical High School, was arrested.

Trook has since admitted having sex with a 17-year-old pupil in his office on December 10 last year and has left his post at the school.

DELAYED TRAVEL URGED THIS MORNING DUE TO ICY ROADS AS EXTRA TROOPERS ARE CALLED IN

(PIKESVILLE, MD) -- Troopers are urging delayed travel today as they and county police continue to respond to dozens of crashes caused by icy roads, especially in the central and northern regions of the state.

Troopers were held out from night patrol and additional troopers have been called in to duty to assist with the response to crashes being caused by slick roads. Most of the crashes have occurred in Howard, Baltimore, Harford, and Cecil counties.

As of 10:30 a.m. today, troopers in Harford County are on the scene of a fatal crash that preliminary information indicates was weather-related. That is the only fatal crash troopers have responded to since the series of crashes began about 8:00 a.m. today.

State Highway Administration personnel are out in force, salting areas causing the most hazards, which are ramps, bridges and overpasses. Troopers are coordinating with SHA personnel to direct resources to areas of greatest need.

Troopers continue to urge motorists to delay travel this morning. Temperatures are warming and travel conditions will be much safer this afternoon.

For the latest information on crashes and road conditions, visit www.MD511.org, or call 511.

Eastern Shore Farmers Beware...

Our friends at ACT are gearing up again. See the newsletter below our friend Kathy Phillips has been elected to the Board of the Water Keeper Alliance and the Board of Directors for the Chesapeake Water Keepers. Apparently going after farm families is very good for your career!

MARYLAND AND PHOSPHORUS
What's the big fuss all about?

Our coastal watershed, the Chesapeake Bay and all Eastern Shore waterways have a phosphorus problem, there is too much of it.

Over saturated farm fields and their crops can't use all of it, so the excess is running off into our waterways causing algae blooms that cause 'dead zones,' suffocate underwater vegetation, and harm fish and crab stocks.
After ten years of intensive scientific study, and four years of legislative process, Maryland is finally ready to take the most important step to control this excess nutrient in 30 years - adopting the Phosphorus Management Tool or the 'PMT.'
The PMT is a phosphorus pollution reduction tool that farmers and soil conservation officials will use to determine where phosphorus rich poultry manure can be spread on farm fields and where it can't.

Fields on the lower shore are most heavily saturated with Phosphorus. Click the map to read an important Report from Environmental Integrity Project about this.
Learn more about the PMT here.  Call or write your Legislators and tell them it is long past time to implement the PMT.  Don't let the Farm Bureau and Big Ag delay this any longer.

Salisbury/Wicomico County Will Lose Another 650 Jobs

As we just posted HERE this morning, Labinal Power Systems just informed me there are 650 Employees in the Salisbury facility.

This is a massive blow to our economy. Quite frankly, I would have liked to have been informed by SWED, the former County Executive and just as important Mayor Jim Ireton FIRST on this matter.

A true professional would have provided a Press Release expressing ALL of the hard work they had done to try and salvage Labinal Power Systems leaving Salisbury.

Mind you Folks, THAT is what a professional business person would do. Labinal contacted me directly with this Press Release, so for those of you questioning if my original post was true, it absolute is.

So why hasn't this been on WBOC, WMDT or the Daily Times? Can you say, Liberal cover up. At least companies like Labinal know where to go to get factual information out to the masses.

As for the Employees, WOW, this breaks my heart. Just know that if I had been elected Mayor I would have exhausted everything I could to keep your jobs here in Salisbury. How unfortunate.

BREAKING NEWS: TODAY'S MEETING WITH LABINAL FLOPPED

I'm in complete SHOCK!

Ladies & Gentlemen, Mayor Jim Ireton didn't even show up. In fact, his representative Jake Day showed up late to the meeting.

John Cannon was present, Wayne Strausburg, Dave Ryan from SWED, people from unemployment, a representative from Mikulski's office, (I didn't get her name as the audio was not good at all times) I did hear her say something about her being present when Barbara found out and she was very upset. Labinal had their General Manager there.

Ladies & Gentlemen, today's meeting was NOT about salvaging Labinal in Salisbury. It was about damage control and what everyone was going to do to retrain these employees and how they might possibly find another company that could utilize that facility and their trained employees.

In other words, they/we/you are screwed. I firmly believe Ireton being a no show and the letter that he sent out while the meeting was going on, knew there was nothing left to salvage. Man, I just can't stand Liberal politicians.

This is not good at all. The Daily Times was a no show and will once again RELY on whatever they are TOLD by someone that was there. OR they'll read what I have and run with it.

BREAKING NEWS: ANOTHER MAJOR BUSINESS IN SALISBURY TO CLOSE THEIR DOORS FOR GOOD

Labinal Power Systems Shifts Portions of Operations to Denton, Texas
Salisbury, Maryland Plant to Close by December 2016

Dallas, January 14, 2015

Labinal Power Systems (LPS) announces plans to transfer operations from their Salisbury, Maryland plant to its Denton, Texas location, resulting in the Salisbury plant closure by Dec. 31, 2016. LPS will systematically move operations from Salisbury to Denton beginning May 2015.

“In order to maintain our competitive position in the aerospace industry, we must restructure our North America operations and consolidate our wire manufacturing business into one U.S. facility,” said Jorge Ortega, Vice President, Labinal Power Systems North America.

Salisbury employees will receive transition packages, job training support and other transition-related assistance. Job counselors and educational specialists will be on site to offer assistance. This operational transfer will result in job growth at the Denton plant.

“We are extremely grateful to our employees,” said Tony Rodriguez, General Manager, Labinal Power Systems, Salisbury. “We also appreciate the years of support we have received from the Salisbury community.”

Mr. Ireton: Did Sen. Mikulski Lie About Jobs At The Labinal Plant In Salisbury?

Almost immediately after the phase-out of production and eventual closing of the Labinal plant in Salisbury was announced, Ireton is telling us that none of the $994 million funding of the contract for 32 additional Chinook helicopters has come to Salisbury for components/systems to be used in them. And that may be true - the funding for the contract was approved in December, 2014.

Boeing, the prime contractor for the choppers, says that it does not know whether any part of those funds has been disbursed for work done in Salisbury, but that seems irrelevant. In recent years, certain components (electrical systems, etc.) for the existing Chinook fleet have been purchased from Labinal, which made them here. It stands to reason that would also be so in regard to the additional birds. And, unless Mikulski was feeding us 100% BS, she must have been told or led to believe by Boeing’s executives and/or its lobbyists that Labinal would furnish the components and build them here.

Was Mikulski’s vote bought by Boeing or Labinal or does she really support beefing up US defense? What say you, Babsie? And how about your pals O’Malley and Cardin?

What's more interesting for folks in Salisbury is that Ireton has already gone public, claiming that he has been told by Boeing that the local Labinal plant is not involved, but Boeing says that it does not know at this point whether that is the case.

Is Ireton trying to deflect criticism for the plant closing from himself. At the time of the funding approval by Congress, Sen. Barbara Mikulski proclaimed that she had saved 400 jobs in Salisbury by supporting the funding. Ireton tried to ride that savior story as well, suggesting that he was also responsible for what was portrayed in the local mainstream media as a huge boon for Salisbury.

Stay tuned, folks, because it looks like this one has legs as news journalists sometimes say. We will keep you posted on subsequent aspects of this matter that may come to the surface or become known to SBYNEWS.

County Executive Bob Culver Tours West Salisbury Elementary School

Salisbury, MD - Fulfilling the commitment he made at the December 2nd County Council meeting when the architectural design cost for a new West Salisbury Elementary School was removed from the Bond bill, Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver toured the school for the third time on Saturday, January 10th at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of the Saturday tour was to conduct a detailed assessment of the condition of the facility and the options for renovation.

In addition to West Salisbury Principal Melva Wright, accompanying Culver were Director of Administration, Wayne Strausburg and Assistant Director Sharon Morris from the Executive’s office; Ed Heatwole, Professional Engineer and a member of his transition team; Dr. John Frederickson, Superintendent of Wicomico County Public Schools; representatives and members of the Board of Education; community members with expertise in construction, electrical, roofing and building maintenance; community activist Mike Dunn; and Wicomico County Council President John Cannon and Council members Ernie Davis, John Hall, Joe Holloway and Marc Kilmer. Council member Larry Dodd and Council Vice-President and member of the Wicomico County Board of Education Building Commission Matt Holloway did not attend.

“I believe our tour was very informative and productive,” said Culver. “While we wait for final input from the experts, my sense is they believe that renovations are possible at a great cost savings to the taxpayers. One long term County employee commented that this was the first time in memory that a tour like this had been held and thought it was a great idea,” Culver added. “While I was very pleased to hear that, it seems like common sense to me that steps like this should be taken before the taxpayers are committed to building new schools.”

For more information, contact the Wicomico County Executive’s office at 410-548-4801.

Why You Can NO LONGER Believe Or Trust The Daily Times

For years now I have been telling you there are no more investigative reporters and or reporters that truly know the Eastern Shore. What can you expect when they keep IMPORTING people from other parts of the Country who are completely clueless.

On the FRONT PAGE of today's Daily Times you will see the images above. Now, while I'm confident Mr. Anderton would LOVE to have such experience under his belt, IT IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER LIE.

Now get this. As you read on in this article they QUOTE the following from the Anderton Camp...

"He doesn't shy away from his past either, saying on more than one occasion, "I'm not college educated" when speaking about his past or the state of education in the region".

I am NOT making this up Ladies & Gentlemen. It's one thing to have a spelling error, I get that. But when you become a PROFESSIONAL Journalist, this is completely out of line. Getting caught in your own lies has got to be embarrassing, to say the least.

Not knowing the elected official and or their history while CHARGING customers money for their false daily information is just ridiculous.

Oh, let's not forget that Gannett/Daily Times requires a College Degree for these positions. A lot of good that does.

Breaking News: Large Group Fight In Progress

*Police Alert*
Large Group Fight in Progress

Several 911 callers stated that a group of 20-30 people are actively fighting. Salisbury and Wicomico have several units responding. Unknown if there is any weapons.

One in Three Americans Believe Police 'routinely Lie'

While most Americans approve of the work being done by their local police, nearly a third feel that some officers "routinely lie to serve their own interests," a survey released on Thursday by Reuters and the IPSOS polling organization showed.

The number rises to 45 percent among African-Americans.

The findings come as scrutiny on police has been heightened in recent months by the killing of unarmed blacks by white officers, which has raised questions about police treatment of racial minorities.

While distrust is significant, nearly three-quarters of respondents approve the job done by their local police, the survey said. The survey showed that 56 percent of African-American respondents approved of their local police.

MarQuis McClee, a small-business owner from Bloomington, Indiana, who took part in the poll, said that he generally trusts police and has officers among his relatives, but as an African-American, he can also be wary around law enforcement.

Outgoing Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley Working On Book

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Outgoing Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley says he is working on a book.

The Democrat, who’s considering running for president, said Thursday in a brief interview that the book will focus on “the new way of governing” he brought to Baltimore. He served as city councilman from 1991 to 1999 and later as mayor from 1999 to 2007. He’s describing it as “a story of service.”

O’Malley is known for a data-tracking management tool called CitiStat that aimed to measure performance in government. He used the same tools on a statewide level when he became governor in 2007.

Why Are Jim Ireton And Jake Day Squirming

As many have suggested, Jake Day may be considering a run for Mayor and Jimmy, well, who knows where he's headed but it certainly isn't back in the Mayor's Office.

Nevertheless, I want you to think about just how bad this Labinal situation is. Yes, 975 jobs will be lost since last year. This will be a massive impact on both the City and the County. However, there's something else to consider here as well.

I spoke to a local restaurant owner a few minutes ago and they too are squirming in a big way. 975 less people PER DAY visiting local businesses, that's HUGE! The local economy is bad enough but many of these locally owned businesses are truly near their last breath.
When you have an inexperienced Mayor with NO business background, this is what you get. Hopefully they can come to some sort of terms today, we'll see.

Here's how I think things may have gone down previous to today. I believe Labinol tried negotiating with the state and local officials and couldn't get anywhere. I believe they went to the Press and the Press wouldn't publish their release. They then sent it to Salisbury News and as soon as it was exposed here, it went viral instantly. The Press was forced to finally publish it and here we are today.

Perhaps now, Labinal can stand firm and negotiate a deal to remain in Salisbury and salvage and hold at least 1,000 jobs here. Want to know how influential we are here at Salisbury News, stick around and let's see what happens today.

WOW Jimmy, That's Really Going To Make Them Change Their Minds At Labinal

Ireton Asks Labinal to Stay Put
January 15, 2015

Mr. Peter Lengyel
President and Chief Executive Officer
Safran North America
2300 Clarendon Blvd, Suite 607
Arlington, VA 22201

Dear Mr. Lengyel,

The sudden announcement this week of the impending closure of Labinal here in Salisbury has left me saddened and frustrated – emotions which mirror those of my community.   I implore you to reconsider your decision.

This closure has come as a complete surprise to not only me, but to your employees, and to the City of Salisbury.  Safran’s decision to close the Salisbury plant will lead over 500 people to seek employment in an already struggling economy – and that’s not to mention your employees who are family members, putting them in an even more perilous situation.

I know that Senator Mikulski has rallied for Safran in order to secure federal funds for your company’s benefit, and Salisbury and Wicomico County's commitment to this plant throughout its history is unparalleled.  As mayor of a small city, I work endlessly to draw businesses, retail and manufacturing, to our area.  Without manufacturing plants such as yours, a town cannot employ its skilled laborers.

I would like the opportunity to discuss this closure with you. I welcome a phone call or other correspondence.

Sincerely,
Signature
Mayor James Ireton, Jr.
City of Salisbury, Maryland

Publishers Notes: Excuse me Mayor Jimmy but because you are more interested in drinking beer and partying with your pals, let me tell you something.
This was NO surprise to the employees there. IF you had your ear to the ground and people actually liked you, perhaps you would have known almost a year ago, like all of the employees I have spoken to did. You've now dropped their employees down to 500. Interesting because your own figures from the City show them as the 3rd biggest employer and even by your own records it shows at least 650. In reality, a year ago there were 975 employees, but you are too ignorant to know that.

You said

"Salisbury and Wicomico County's commitment to this plant throughout its history is unparalleled". Really, we would like to know just what commitment you and the county have made? They purchased the building and property, they paid their water, sewer and taxes just like everyone else, you didn't know they were closing, damn, I'm really curious to know what commitment you are talking about?

"Without manufacturing plants such as yours, a town cannot employ its skilled laborers".

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, REALLY? Perhaps you should have thought of that YEARS ago and visited them. The THIRD largest employer and you claim to be shocked and clueless. Yeah, THAT is a real leader.

Well, at least you've published a public letter to cover your ass. However, I think ANY business person reading it will immediately realize how big an ass you just made of yourself.

Enjoy the beers at 3rd Friday tonight. I'm sure this will be the talk of the town and you'll blame everyone else. You screwed up Jimmy.

BREAKING NEWS: Major Meeting Being Held Right Now At The Chamber of Commerce

SHHHHH, we're not supposed to know,
BUT WE DO!

That's right Ladies & Gentlemen. Mayor Jim Ireton, Jake Day, Staff from Barbara Mikulski's Office, Wayne Strausburg and other dignitaries are right now in a meeting WITH SELECT PRESS, are gathering with a representative from Labinal.

Here's the deal. Since we were able to get notice in advance and since I didn't want to disturb the meeting, we had a device planted in the building so we can monitor what's going on.

Here's the bottom line. Remember the original Press Release I personally received from Labinol? The fact is, they clearly stated without any alteration exactly what their plans and intention is. Salisbury News never altered the release. It was published word for word.

So no matter what the Press says about this situation, this plant, (in their own words) is shutting down. Because particular LIBERALS have been exposed for their failure to stay on top of things, because they NEVER go to visit these businesses, they have NO CLUE as the the real pulse of business in the County. Now it's CYA.

All they are interested in is photo ops or ribbon cuttings and that's it.

So some time later today I will publish just what this meeting was about and the direction, (or lack thereof) they are heading.

Oh, by the way Ireton, Mikulski and Day,
"You've Been Blogged"

Al Sharpton Calls For Emergency Meeting To Address 'Appalling' All-White Oscar Nominees

The Rev. Al Sharpton was left fuming mad after the Oscars revealed its all-white list of nominees for this year's Oscar awards on Thursday.

"The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets," Sharpton quipped in a statement released later in the afternoon.

Sharpton, a critic of the lack of diversity in Hollywood, also announced he was holding an "emergency meeting" next week to address the issue.

"I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards," he said.

NO TAXES ON 2ND JOB

With all of the talk over the last couple of years about Obamacare putting businesses in a difficult position and lowering their employee hours down to 30 hours a week, I've come up with what I feel is a proactive way to resolve this problem.

NO TAXES ON A 2ND JOB

Since this is clearly the way of the future, why not force Obama into showing his commitment towards "We The People".

Let's say you get 30 hours at one job and 20 hours on the 2nd. Whichever is lower, you pay no taxes. Not Federal, not state, no medicaid, not Social Security and no local/municipal.

It's clean cut and only fair on the hard working Americans who are truly trying to survive without asking for government assistance. I have forwarded this information to our legislators, all the way up to the Governors Office.

What are your thoughts?

WBOC Wants You To Believe The Shore Is On The Rise For Job Opportunities

Last night WBOC did a couple interviews with select people THEY wanted you to hear from. The first was Memo Diriker who stated, "the trend is positive for business and jobs". REALLY, SERIOUSLY?

WOW, I don't know about YOU but perhaps IF WBOC had actually PUBLISHED the monthly Jobs Reports SBYNews has been publishing for YEARS, they just might have a clue as to how much BS that statement actually is.

Nevertheless, it doesn't fit WBOC's agenda, so you get what you get.

Then there was the interview with Wayne Strausburg. He said that Labinol in Texas is doing the same work down there as they are in Salisbury. NOT TRUE! In fact, if Wayne, Jimmy and Mikulski had done any real research they would have learned that there's nowhere near enough room in the Texas facility to relocate what they do in Salisbury down there.

I've been told the French companies main goal is to ultimately relocate the majority of their company to Mexico where the pay scale is much lower.

It seems everyone is squirming on this matter, especially Ireton and Mikulski. They keep talking about 650 jobs lost when it's really 975. Nevertheless, there will be an investigation into this whole matter.

In the mean time, Wicomico County is NOT on the rise business wise. Sure Wayne, there are a LOT of opportunities here and like I've been saying for YEARS, the rest of the world just needs to know we're here. I wonder where he got that from last night?

Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Fredericksen Updates Board of Education, Community on Status of the Bennett Middle School Construction Project

At the Jan. 13 meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. John Fredericksen updated the Board on the status of the Bennett Middle School project in Fruitland. This construction project is within budget and on track to open to students in August 2015, as originally scheduled, said Dr. John Fredericksen, Superintendent of Schools.

Whiting-Turner is doing an excellent job of managing this project, he said, and the school system is looking forward to having Bennett Middle school teachers and staff visit the building soon. “The construction project will be finished as scheduled within the next few months, and we will begin preparing the school to welcome its first students at the end of this summer.”

MIKULSKI ASKS LABINAL TO RESCIND ITS DECISION TO CLOSE SALISBURY PLANT

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) today asked Safran North America President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Lengyel to rescind its decision to close its Salisbury Labinal plant.

“I want families who rely on Labinal for their paychecks and economic security to know that I’m on their side,” Senator Mikulski said. “I was shocked by Labinal’s decision to close its Salisbury plant. I urge Mr. Lengyel to rescind that decision. I will never stop fighting for jobs in Maryland.”

'America has too many f****** guns'

Taken star Liam Neeson launches expletive-laden tirade despite launching second career as action hero

The gun-totting star of the 'Taken' trilogy, Liam Neeson, has condemned the level of gun ownership in America labelling it an '(expletive) disgrace' while offering his condolences over the Paris terrorist attacks.

Neeson made the comments while standing in front of a poster of him gripping a pistol gun at a press conference in Dubai for his new movie Taken 3.

The 62-year-old actor spoke out after being asked about the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks in Paris, which he later linked with gun ownership in America.

Muslim call to prayer to sound at Duke University

DURHAM, N.C. — A weekly call to prayer for Muslims will be heard at Duke University starting Friday, school officials said.

Members of the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, known as adhan or azan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower each Friday at 1 p.m. The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be “moderately amplified,” officials said in a statement Tuesday.

“The adhan is the call to prayer that brings Muslims back to their purpose in life, which is to worship God, and serves as a reminder to serve our brothers and sisters in humanity,” said Imam Adeel Zeb, Muslim chaplain at Duke. “The collective Muslim community is truly grateful and excited about Duke’s intentionality toward religious and cultural diversity.”

Mikulski & Obama Burned By Labinal Power Systems In Salisbury

On December 23, 2014, President Obama signed a bill to give millions of dollars in a Grant to Labinal Power Systems in Salisbury, Maryland.

The grant was to CREATE an additional FOUR HUNDRED jobs here on the Shore but here's what else you don't know.

One year ago there were actually 975 people working at Labinal in Salisbury. As people quit and others retired in the last year, Labinal did not replace those employees, NONE of them. THEY KNEW they would be moving to Texas and my belief is that Barbara Mikulski knew it too. There was not going to be an additonal 400 jobs here on the Shore and 325 of that 400 had already left.

So for the MILLIONS of dollars Mikulski and Obama gave them, it would have really only created an additional 75 jobs!

Labinal told Mikulski they had been contracted to build 32 new Chinook Helicopters and in return of the grant they'd create an additional 400 jobs. Funny how politics works, isn't it.

A year ago they had 975 employees. That dropped to 650 and just DAYS ago, (obviously without ANY research from Mikulski) they gave a Grant to a company who TODAY announced they're moving to Texas. How convenient!

We're working on finding out exactly how much money Labinal got from the Obama/Mikulski Grant. So there will be more to come...

ENOUGH OF THE LIES AND RUMORS ABOUT THE SALISBURY FESTIVAL AND PORK IN THE PARK

I have been receiving calls and messages about this blogger guy spreading a rumor that the Salisbury Festival has been canceled. NOT TRUE!

The Chamber of Commerce decided to move the  from Spring to Fall, that's it!

As for Pork in the Park, IT WILL GO ON THIS YEAR

More details on that event will be forthcoming.

Look, if you want the TRUTH and FACTUAL information, come to Salisbury News. It really is that simple.

This Just In: Heroin Overdose Death In Salisbury / Wicomico County

SFD and SPD dispatched to Cannon Drive for a priority 4 DOA, 35-year-old female. Medical Examiner requested. Command also request Central to notify the health department about a possible heroin overdose.

Sheriffs Office and WBI on the scene at Cannon Dr. Apparently that person was 35 y/o.

Heroin OD's in Wicomico County are an epidemic and isn't getting a lot of attention.

A Letter To The Editor: County Roads

"Can you confirm if the county plans on salting or de icing the rural roads. My road is a sheet of ice and not one truck has been around. Road conditions in these areas are horrendous".

Publishers Notes: I have seen a lot of comments today referencing the road conditions, especially in Wicomico County. Some, (like another clueless Blogger) want to blame Bob Culver, thanks for the laugh!

Nevertheless, because I have been doing this for year and I actually listen and LEARN, let me explain how it works.

Because it was so cold last night and what actually fell from the sky was freezing rain, the roads were a sheet of ice FIRST. The white stuff on the top, (are you listening JT) that would be called SNOW. Are you following me?

JUSTIFIED? Police Office Fatally Shoots Unarmed Man that Didn’t Put his Hands up .. The Man was Reportedly on Meth

BILLINGS – After listening to more than 8 hours of evidence over two days, a coroner’s inquest jury took just 30 minutes to determine Billings Officer Grant Morrison was justified when he shot and killed an unarmed man in April.

Chief Rich St. John, who testified at the hearing, agreed.

“Our officers, as well as any other officer in the country, are authorized to use deadly force when there is an imminent threat of serious bodily injury or death,” St. John told the jury during his testimony.

Morrison testified that the actions of Richard Ramirez, who was killed during the encounter, left him no choice but to use deadly force.

“It was his left hand that was most concerning because he repeatedly refused to follow my commands to keep his hands up,” Morrison said. “He continued to reach down to the area along his waste that I couldn’t see whatsoever. I couldn’t see what he was reaching for. I couldn’t see where his hand was, it completely disappeared from my view and it was making me more and more afraid.”

Ramirez was killed when Morrison fired three shots.

Cardin, Schatz Introduce Legislation to Give Federal Workers a Well-Deserved Raise

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) today introduced legislation to provide a 3.8 percent pay raise to federal workers in calendar year 2016. Federal employees have lost over a billion dollars in salary and benefits due to sequestration and a three-year pay freeze from January 2011 to December 2013.

“We have continued to place an increasing burden on federal workers, who now represent the lowest percentage of the total American workforce in the three-quarters of a century that reliable records have been kept,” said Senator Cardin. “The knowledge, expertise, skill and commitment of our public sector workforce are some of this country’s greatest assets. No other nation can match our public workforce’s professionalism and level of accomplishment. Yet all too often, public servants are disparaged, denigrated and forced to bear the brunt of deficit reduction. We need to strengthen and encourage our public workforce. In Maryland and across the nation, these public servants deserve recognition and thanks for their hard work and dedication.”

“Hawai‘i’s federal employees are some of the hardest working public servants in the country,” said Senator Schatz. “In recent years, our federal workers have endured pay freezes, furloughs, and a government shutdown. Our bill recognizes the service of working families and gives them a well-deserved raise.”

The owner of Jack's market asked for this picture to be put up to show the parking lot is not cleared from SHA truck.

As a side note, my Wife just text me to let me know the road conditions on Rt. 50 from the Hebron area into Salisbury/Fruitland are not good at all. Very slushy, she said. She was only able to do 30 MPH, (at most, on Rt. 50) in my truck.

In addition, the reason we got the above photo is because someone claimed in comments that the SHA had cleared their parking lot.

Family of Md. boy who died after falling through icy pond says safety measures should be in place

OXON HILL, Md. (WJLA) – A family is calling for change following the death of a 7-year-old boy who fell through an ice-covered pond Friday night.

Two police officers jumped into the frozen pond to try and save Zae’ Quan White. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but died later that night.

A small memorial—balloons, stuffed animals and photos—sits near the spot where Zae’ Quan fell into the pond.

“I’m hurting every day,” said his mother, Myesha Inman. “It’s sad something like this had to happen.”

The boy’s family is still in shock. Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, Zae’ Quan and a cousin wandered down an embankment to take a look.

What The Heck Does This Mean?

We found this bumper sticker on the back of a car this weekend. Even my Grandson said, what the heck does that mean? So I called a couple chicken farmers that I know and sent them the picture. When they responded they told me they had no clue what it meant. DO YOU?

Salisbury University On The Nanticoke: The Eastern Shore's Camp David Retreat

Back in October of 2014 Salisbury University purchase around 3 acres of land with a lavish home on the Nanticoke River that included a large garage with an apartment above.

The home was owned by a Salisbury University faculty member Tom Horton and his then Wife, heiress to the Folgers Coffee empire.

Being that the two parted their ways, the home went up for sale for $650,000.00. From what we're told there were two offers on the property, aside from the University but the offers were for much less than $650,000.00 and the owners refused to take the offers.

U.S. Students FORCED To Wear Islamic Garb On School Outing, Parents IRATE

A Colorado school district has come under fire from parents in the community when a local middle school told girls that they will have to submit to sharia-compliant rules regarding covering their heads and ankles on a field trip to a Muslim mosque in Denver.

According to Western Journalism, the Douglas County School District, located just south of Denver county, informed students and parents that their daughters must abide by an imposed dress code for the world religions field trip taking place Tuesday, January 13. “All students must wear appropriate long pants. Ankles must be covered. Girls must bring wide scarves or hooded sweatshirts for the mosque,” the notice read.

An outraged parent contacted local media outlets to report the forced dress requirement, all of whom allegedly refused to cover the story except for one right-wing radio broadcaster out of Denver, Peter Boyles of KNUS 710. Boyles reached out to Principal Mike Loitz at Rocky Heights Middle School — the school imposing the dress requirements on female students — and Loitz confirmed in the interview on January 6 that they did ask students to comply.

How Do You Feel About This?

I came across an interesting situation recently in a bar/restaurant. Obviously a Police Officer sat at the end of a booth exposing his gun and badge.

Now, the question is, do you find this offensive or does it make you feel safer?

In my honest opinion, I'd rather not see an Off Duty Officer exposing his weapon, especially in this day and age in which he could become a target.

Nevertheless, I'm really looking forward to see what all of you think.

Martin O’Malley: ‘My feelings were hurt’ by Maryland voters

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said Thursday that he’s still “seriously considering” a run for president but admitted that he was rattled when voters rejected his hand-picked Democratic successor in favor of Republican Larry Hogan.

“I can tell you my feelings were hurt,” Mr. O'Malley said in a speech at the University of Chicago, CNN reported. “We had done a lot of really good things in Maryland and in the end, you did not hear much about it during the campaign,”

Still, he acknowledged, “I was on the ballot.”

Mr. Hogan won a stunning upset victory over Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, who served alongside Mr. O'Malley for eight years. The Republican’s campaign focused almost exclusively on Mr. O'Malley’s record of massive tax increases and heavy government spending.
