Why Are Jim Ireton And Jake Day Squirming

As many have suggested, Jake Day may be considering a run for Mayor and Jimmy, well, who knows where he's headed but it certainly isn't back in the Mayor's Office.

Nevertheless, I want you to think about just how bad this Labinal situation is. Yes, 975 jobs will be lost since last year. This will be a massive impact on both the City and the County. However, there's something else to consider here as well.

I spoke to a local restaurant owner a few minutes ago and they too are squirming in a big way. 975 less people PER DAY visiting local businesses, that's HUGE! The local economy is bad enough but many of these locally owned businesses are truly near their last breath.
When you have an inexperienced Mayor with NO business background, this is what you get. Hopefully they can come to some sort of terms today, we'll see.

Here's how I think things may have gone down previous to today. I believe Labinol tried negotiating with the state and local officials and couldn't get anywhere. I believe they went to the Press and the Press wouldn't publish their release. They then sent it to Salisbury News and as soon as it was exposed here, it went viral instantly. The Press was forced to finally publish it and here we are today.

Perhaps now, Labinal can stand firm and negotiate a deal to remain in Salisbury and salvage and hold at least 1,000 jobs here. Want to know how influential we are here at Salisbury News, stick around and let's see what happens today.

Yeah, We got some crappy leaders in this county. Past and present. Pollitt, Ireton, Strasburg, Creamer, and the list just goes on.

    1. I'm not a big fan of it either. When people ask me where my so is located, I say " Downtown Salisbury on The Plaza", not da ' bury. Never was a fan. I still love the downtown area though...

  12. The question is: Do these guys want Labinal to stay? What are they willing to give in negotiations to entice them to stay....I think they're out of capital. Texas has a much better environment, I moved there with MCI in the 80's.....

  13. It was the RAIN TAX that made them decide to move. The tax that Ireton has been so staunchly supportive of.

Jimmy - how is it working for you now?

  18. dittos 2:59, hate bury. always have. now as far as the businesses are concerned; yes, there are several businesses in the area of this business that will suffer. Lombardi's and the other eateries along Mt. Hermon Rd. and then Rite Aid, and other businesses in Twilley Shopping Center. YES, they will suffer too.

  19. Jim ireton doesn't care about lost jobs, he even has barbara duncan promote it by running every good officer out of the dept on trumped up charges compiled by her crony Scott Kolb. She only cares about the rogue rookie cops she hires who will lie cheat and steal for her.

Do not like it either. Sounds hoodish & blackified for want of a better word which I'm allowed to say. I'd buy a sticker that says SBY, or even the full name.

  24. "da bury" is so slang...it is so getto. How could you not identify the downtown area with da bury? In stead of the class act that is happening in Berlin and Easton and all other classic Eastern Shore towns...we are stuck with da bury. I wish we could get people with intelligence and class involved in the direction of this town...but as long as we have da bury to overcome...I don't see that happening. I would not invest in that identification.
