U.S. Students FORCED To Wear Islamic Garb On School Outing, Parents IRATE

A Colorado school district has come under fire from parents in the community when a local middle school told girls that they will have to submit to sharia-compliant rules regarding covering their heads and ankles on a field trip to a Muslim mosque in Denver.

According to Western Journalism, the Douglas County School District, located just south of Denver county, informed students and parents that their daughters must abide by an imposed dress code for the world religions field trip taking place Tuesday, January 13. “All students must wear appropriate long pants. Ankles must be covered. Girls must bring wide scarves or hooded sweatshirts for the mosque,” the notice read.

An outraged parent contacted local media outlets to report the forced dress requirement, all of whom allegedly refused to cover the story except for one right-wing radio broadcaster out of Denver, Peter Boyles of KNUS 710. Boyles reached out to Principal Mike Loitz at Rocky Heights Middle School — the school imposing the dress requirements on female students — and Loitz confirmed in the interview on January 6 that they did ask students to comply.

  1. When my 7th grade class at Wi Jr. High visited the Washington Cathedral as part of a DC class trip. All of us Protestant girls were told to cover our heads. We complied out of respect.

  8. So they were going t a Mosque and were pissed because they had to meet the correct dress code? If you read toward the end of the article it plainly states "Although attending the trip is voluntary, the dress code is mandatory.". Well if a parent has an issue with their child doing this, why do did they make them go. By the way, this is one of the best articles that demonstrates the need for the separation of church and state that I have ever read. Bravo. Other than that, it is a total non story

  12. Churches in Italy require women to have their shoulders covered. Many have a basket of scarves in the vestibule for those who need them. I borrowed a scarf once when I forgot and wore a tank top.
I also remember Diane Sawyer wearing long sleeves, long pants and a head scarf when she interviewed a Muslim leader on "60 Minutes." It's not a burdensome requirement.

We think of Muslims and Muslim custom as showing disrespect to women in many ways and also a non-acceptance of freedom of speech. So 1:24,1:51,and 2:10 are you Muslims? You behave like it. You certainly are not good Americans.

  15. I've done a lot of mission trips abroad. You're always expected to dress appropriately for your destination. For girls, it often means long skirts. Ever try wearing a suit in a rainforest or desert? It's hard! But somehow they do it, so we should share the custom.

In Synagogues, don't they also have a box of kips (or whatever the dome cover is) to maintain decorum? Same thing.

  18. Now people are being stupid here.

If you go to a synagogue, men of any religion put on a yamakuh (sp?) Women (married only?) often have something on their heads, too.

When you go to certain Catholic cathedrals, women have certain covers.

When you go to a mosque, the women don the scarves (those are not burkas, get a clue).

When in Rome, you do as the Romans do.

If these people did not want their children observing the custom of the mosques, they should have not given permission for the field trip. D'oh.
