Yesterday, a woman named Tara Reade appeared on a podcast with former Paste contributor Katie Halper to discuss an incident that happened while she was working as a staff assistant for Joe Biden in 1993. This was not the first time Reade came forward—she told part of her story last year after Lucy Flores accused Biden of using his power to touch her inappropriately. At the time, Reade was smeared as a pro-Russian agent due to remarks she had written in a now-deleted Medium post. Reade has come forward again, and this time, in her interview with Halper, she went into specific detail about Biden’s alleged assault. You can listen to the audio here, and you can read below for Reade’s account, which has been transcribed on Reddit. Content warning: The text below contains graphic descriptions of sexual assault.

Wuhan Residents Denounce China for Hiding Continued Coronavirus Spread
Residents of Wuhan, China – where the coronavirus pandemic originated – told various media outlets throughout the week that Communist Party-run hospitals were turning away people with coronavirus symptoms and failing to document new cases, allowing Beijing to claim the outbreak in Wuhan was largely over.
Chinese state media celebrated the alleged return to normalcy in Wuhan, a city of 11 million people in central China, on Wednesday, announcing that the Communist Party was allowing public transport buses back on the street and slowly letting businesses re-open (all economic activity in China is controlled by the Communist Party).
“Wuhan, the once hardest-hit city in central China’s Hubei Province during the COVID-19 [Chinese coronavirus] outbreak, resumed a total of 117 bus routes starting Wednesday, around 30 percent of the city’s total bus transport capacity, the municipal transport bureau said,” the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
China had spent most of the past week celebrating not documenting any coronavirus cases in Wuhan until Tuesday, when it revealed that a doctor in the city tested positive for coronavirus. Wuhan officials claimed the doctor was the only documented case in the city that day and that they did not have an explanation for how he or she got infected since no other cases existed in the city.
Reports citing Wuhan locals appear to have the answer: the virus continues to spread throughout the city, but the Chinese Communist Party has simply decided not to test or treat patients with symptoms. Hong Kong broadcaster RTHK quoted several Wuhan residents, speaking anonymously out of fear of arrest or censorship, who said that they had witnessed Wuhan medical staff refusing to test individuals with clear symptoms resembling coronavirus infection.

Airlines turn to cargo for revenue
Delta Air Lines Inc and Air New Zealand Ltd said they would offer cargo charter services on passenger planes to boost revenue as the U.S. Senate neared a vote on a bill to give its carriers $58 billion in aid, including payroll support.
The passenger travel industry has been decimated by the coronavirus pandemic, with Australia’s Flight Centre Travel Group Ltd on Thursday announcing plans to cut 6,000 travel agent roles globally, either temporarily or permanently.
Singapore Airlines Ltd on Thursday went into a rare trading halt pending an announcement, days after it said it would ground almost its entire fleet and seek more financing as it grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.
Virgin Australia Holdings Ltd plans to permanently cut more than 1,000 jobs among the 8,000 staff that have been stood down due to cuts to its flying schedule, Chief Executive Paul Scurrah said.
“That is going to be heartbreaking for those people. This is no fault of theirs,” Scurrah told the Australian Broadcasting Corp. “This is the worst airline crisis the industry has ever seen.”
In the United States, United Airlines Holdings Inc announced further cuts to domestic capacity, meaning its overall capacity, including international, will be down by around 68% in April.

Attorney General Frosh Seeks Emergency Relief for Federal Student Loan Borrowers in Response to Coronavirus Pandemic
27 Attorney Generals Write Letter to Secretary of Education Requesting Relief
BALTIMORE, MD (March 26, 2020) – Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today joined a coalition of 27 attorneys general in calling on the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to provide federal student loan borrowers with crucial emergency measures to help in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In a letter to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, the coalition asks the ED to take specific steps to protect borrowers from further financial burden and debt collection due to job losses and lost wages, resulting from the exponential rise in national unemployment in the last few weeks.
“During this unprecedented crisis, the federal government must do everything in its power to help those struggling with unemployment,” said Attorney General Frosh. “The Department of Education has the authority to help Americans who are struggling with crippling debt burdens; the small changes they have made are not enough.”
Today’s letter urges the ED to immediately implement emergency measures to protect federal student loan borrowers. The letter notes that while the federal government has already taken a series of initial steps to help student loan borrowers—including ceasing some collection actions—the ED must do more, including:
- Halting all new and continuing involuntary collection activities—including wage garnishment and the offset of government benefits, such as Social Security and tax refunds—and refunding 2019 tax refund offsets for all federal student loan borrowers for the duration of the crisis.
- Automatically enrolling all federal student loan borrowers who are in or enter into forbearance, who are or become delinquent on their loans, or who request enrollment in an Income Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan with a $0-per-month payment—without requiring submission of an IDR application, verification of income, or recertification for the duration of the crisis. This would permit struggling borrowers to suspend payments while continuing to make progress toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness or IDR loan forgiveness.
- Extending eligibility to all federal loan borrowers for all additional relief available pursuant to previously announced modifications for those affected by national emergencies, for the duration of the current crisis.
The coalition’s letter urges the ED to extend this emergency relief to all federal student loan borrowers, including borrowers those whose Federal Family Education Loans or Federal Perkins loans are not held by the Department.
Joining Attorney General Frosh in signing today’s letter are the attorneys general of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico.

Soros Bankrolls Coronavirus Attack Ads Against Trump
The Democratic Party's leading super PAC will begin hitting President Donald Trump over coronavirus in four battleground states, using millions from liberal billionaire George Soros.
Priorities USA Action—the Democratic Party's largest super PAC—will spend $6 million this week on advertisements criticizing Trump for his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The ads will run in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The PAC received $3 million in contributions from Soros's Democracy PAC on Feb. 21, new filings show. Soros's seven-figure donation accounts for 77 percent of the $3.9 million the PAC reported hauling in last month.
Major Democratic donors have flooded battleground states, especially in the Midwest, with cash for anti-Trump campaigns in hopes of appealing to the president's voter base. CNN first reported Monday on Priorities USA's new ads, which are part of a larger plan by deep-pocketed liberal financiers and activist groups to divert large sums of cash into the region. Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in several Midwestern states that she was expected to carry in the 2016 election.

Coronavirus Heroes Are Getting Tossed From Their Homes by Scared Landlords
"Anna Jones" had just finished her shift at St. Rose Hospital in Las Vegas, where she works as an emergency room nurse, when she received an email from her landlord labeled, “Quick Action Needed.” Her landlord—a quiet, older woman who lived downstairs from Jones and her husband—informed her that she would need to vacate the premises within 24 hours. The reason, she said, was COVID-19.
“I don’t want interaction or debate over this decision,” the landlord wrote in emails reviewed by The Daily Beast. “I’m sorry for the abrupt notice, but given the situation, it’s the choice I’m making to protect myself.”
“Honestly, it’s devastating,” Jones told The Daily Beast this week. “I was just really heartbroken and just felt like, ‘How could somebody treat me like this, all because I’m a nurse?’”
Kadey Carter, a travel nurse in Missouri, told The Daily Beast that multiple Airbnb hosts had cancelled her reservations in recent weeks after learning she was a nurse. “They’re apologetic but they’re just like, basically for our protection right now, we’re not comfortable with that,” she said.
Around the country, nurses like Jones and Carter—who are fighting the epidemic with little protective gear and at great risk to themselves—are being booted from their homes by property owners who fear they may bring the new coronavirus home with them.

GOP successfully blocked Nancy Pelosi’s mail-in-balloting nonsense
The cause of secure, fraud-free elections got a boost, or at least a reprieve, in the compromise coronavirus-relief stimulus agreement that is wobbling its way to probable passage.
House Democrats, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, had pushed hard for $4 billion to be made available to states to provide for safe voting amidst a pandemic, but with mail-in balloting to be required as part of that mix. As the bill stands as I write this on the late afternoon of March 25, it provides only one-tenth of the money, $400 million, and does not include mandates for mail-in voting.
The grants would go to states “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally, for the 2020 federal election cycle.” Within those broad guidelines, the states would be free to determine the best way to devise their voting procedures in ways that avoid the spread of the contagion, requiring them merely to file “a report that includes a full accounting of the State’s uses of the payment and an explanation of how such uses allowed the State to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus.”
In other words, the payments would promote federalism by allowing each state to create systems best suited to their own exigencies.
This lack of mandates for mail-in balloting is a key victory for Republicans and for fair and timely elections. To put it bluntly, widespread mail-in balloting is a mess. It often delays final election results for days or even weeks, and it is a system that makes it much, much more difficult to detect and deter vote fraud.
As election-law veterans J. Christian Adams and Hans von Spakovsky recently wrote, “Voting by mail is the single worst form of election possible..."

3 Fixes to Ensure a Stable Food Supply During a Pandemic
Maintaining a safe and reliable food supply is one of the most important concerns during the coronavirus pandemic. This includes making sure there’s enough food for Americans and that the food can get to American households.
The Food and Drug Administration explained that there are no nationwide food shortages in the United States. This may seem like an odd statement when there are so many empty grocery store shelves.
This is expected to change soon, however. Short-term inventory challenges exist, but the food supply remains in good shape.
This doesn’t mean we don’t have challenges across the food supply chain. As the private sector adapts to meets the food needs of Americans during the pandemic, so too should government at the federal, state, and local levels.
Here are three regulatory fixes that should be made immediately to help in these efforts.

Ohio Abortion Providers Say They Will Defy State Shutdown Order
Abortion providers in Ohio are defying a state mandate to cease abortion procedures in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, claiming their services are "essential health care."
The decision to continue providing abortions comes as states are adopting strict lockdown operations to combat the spread of the virus. The defiance could bring the clinics into legal conflict with the state government.
At least five of the state's six abortion providers will defy the order. The state attorney general's office said it is considering pursuing legal action against the clinics if they continue their refusal to comply with the shutdown.
A Cleveland abortion clinic told the Daily Caller it will not cooperate with the order from the state government. Ohio Planned Parenthood representatives told CBS News their priority is "ensuring that every person can continue accessing essential health care, including abortion."

Bill Gates says Donald Trump needs to lockdown the US for SIX WEEKS to have any hope of 'flattening the curve' of the coronavirus infection rate
Publishers Notes: I've been saying this from the very beginning.
As co-founder and ex-CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates is famous for being one of the world's richest people, but he is also known for his philanthropic activities, specifically funding the work towards eradicating deadly diseases.
As a result, he has become a leading spokesman for disease control and eradication, and has talked before at length about the risks our world faces should there be a new disease outbreak as we are seeing now with Covid-19.
During a digital TED Talk with host Chris Anderson on 25 March, Gates was asked what he would if he were president and tasked with leading country through the worst pandemic the world has seen in over 100 years.
Gates said that his top priority would be to keep people across America indoors to 'flatten the curve' of the coronavirus pandemic; in other words, slowing down the rate at which the virus is spreading.

47,000 Stores Shutter Across The US As Virtually All Retailers Stop Paying Rent
Even before the coronavirus pandemic ground the US economy to a halt, the US brick and mortar retail sector was facing an apocalypse of epic proportions with dozens of retailers filing for bankruptcy in recent years as Amazon stole everyone's market share...... resulting in tens of thousands of stores across the nation shuttering.
So what has taken place in the retail sector in just the past few weeks is straight out of the the 9th circle of hell.
With cash flows dwindling, and their survival in question every day, the total collapse in revenue has meant that firms such as (recently reorganized) Mattress Firm and Subway are among some of the major U.S. retail and restaurant chains telling landlords they will withhold or slash rent in the coming months after closing stores to slow the coronavirus, Bloomberg reports citing sources.
Aware that one way (out of bankruptcy) or another (in bankruptcy), they will end up renegtiating their leases, retail chains are proactively calling for rent reductions through lease amendments and other measures starting in April.

Kennedy: Democrats Blocking Stimulus Decided to ‘Double Down on Stupid’
Sen. John Kennedy (R., La.) assailed Senate Democrats for stalling a coronavirus stimulus bill on Monday, saying they had decided to "double down on stupid."
"You know what the American people are wondering right now, Mr. President? They're thinking, ‘This country was founded by geniuses, but it's being run by a bunch of idiots,'" Kennedy said on the Senate floor. "You know what the American people are thinking right now, Mr. President? They're thinking, ‘Why do the members of the United States Senate continue to double down on stupid?'"
Senate Democrats have blocked two votes this week to advance the emergency relief bill, calling it a corporate bailout with insufficient measures for workers.

Schumer taking credit for GOP or bipartisan ideas
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer on Wednesday touted a number of concessions Democrats won in the $2 trillion economic rescue package by holding out, including more unemployment insurance, more money for hospitals and additional oversight of where loans for corporations would go.
Mr. Schumer said in a letter to his Democratic colleagues that their unity “strengthened their hand” and that the public is benefiting “from Senate Democrats’ resolve in fighting to put workers first.”
Not so fast, according to Republicans, who say Mr. Schumer is taking credit for provisions that were GOP ideas or received little opposition.
“To sum up, Senator Schumer delayed lifesaving aid to medical professionals and significant relief for families and small businesses in order to claim credit for wins that are either bipartisan or Republican ideas,” said a senior GOP aide.

HOW to Make China Pay for Coronavirus Cover-Up
With the need to hold the People’s Republic of China accountable for the coronavirus cover-up that cost American lives, there is one question we need to answer: How? The good news is that there is a cornucopia of options, some of which were already being pursued. They just need to be accelerated.
One big item, which President Donald Trump has already been pursuing, is to create supply chains that are not dependent on China. The coronavirus pandemic will accelerate that trend, and that will be very helpful on multiple fronts — job creation and lower strategic vulnerability among them. But this is not all we can do.
Beijing needs more than just a hit in the pocketbook — it needs to be diminished on the world stage and humiliated over the cover-up. Beijing lied, people died, and its communist leaders are playing the race card to suppress criticism in the United States. That cannot be permitted to stand.
Part of that effort might be the bicameral legislation introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). “There is no doubt that China’s unconscionable decision to orchestrate an elaborate coverup of the wide-ranging and deadly implications of coronavirus led to the death of thousands of people, including hundreds of Americans and climbing,” Stefanik said. “This Resolution calls for China to provide compensation for the harm, loss, and destruction their arrogance brought upon the rest of the world. Simply put -- China must, and will, be held accountable.”

Obama’s China Ambassador Praises Chinese Response to Virus
Former president Barack Obama's China ambassador Max Baucus, who established extensive business ties with China after leaving the ambassadorship in 2017, extolled China's government on Tuesday for the way the country has responded to the coronavirus outbreak.
"I think that the big lesson here [is] that when you take charge and when you tell the entire country, Wuhan, other provinces what to do, they get in gear and get the job done," Baucus said during an interview on MSNBC. "I take my hat off to China for doing so."
The former Montana senator's praise of China comes amid a propaganda campaign waged by China's state-run media outlets, which have been pushing the narrative that China isn't responsible for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Gaetz: Block Bailouts to Companies Controlled by China
Tuesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) argued that given the origin of the coronavirus was of Mainland China, and allegedly could have been thwarted by the communist Chinese government had they been more transparent, any federal dollars allocated for bailout purposes should not go to any company controlled by the Chinese government.
The Florida Republican congressman noted companies controlled by the Chinese and touted his legislation that would stop from money from going to companies such as those.
“Radisson Hotels, AMC movie theaters, even the Waldorf Astoria in New York are controlled by China, in essence, and I think we ought to restore every American worker and American small business before borrowing money from China so that we can then give it to China to then pay China back with interest after the Chinese virus,” he said. “That seems like a foolish thing that a great nation would never do. I’ve introduced legislation to block bailouts to corporations that are controlled by China. It’s so obvious I can’t even believe it’s not the law already.

Trump’s Daily Briefings Are Getting Huge Ratings — And Leftists Hate Them
The ratings for President Trump’s daily briefing are soaring, and leftists are getting apoplectic.
The New York Times reluctantly admitted on Wednesday that the president’s daily coronavirus updates are garnering an average audience of 8.5 million on cable news, adding, “roughly the viewership of the season finale of ‘The Bachelor.’”
Then, of course, the attack on Trump while acknowledging he’s reaching a tremendous audience: “And the audience is expanding even as Mr. Trump has repeatedly delivered information that doctors and public health officials have called ill informed, misleading or downright wrong.”
The Times quoted uber-left MSNBC commentator Rachel Maddow stating, “I would stop putting those briefings on live TV — not out of spite, but because it’s misinformation,” as well as former ABC anchor Ted Koppel sniping, “Training a camera on a live event, and just letting it play out, is technology, not journalism; journalism requires editing and context.

Hospitals consider universal do-not-resuscitate orders for coronavirus patients
Worry that ‘all hands’ responses may expose doctors and nurses to infection prompts debate about prioritizing the survival of the many over the one
Hospitals on the front lines of the pandemic are engaged in a heated private debate over a calculation few have encountered in their lifetimes — how to weigh the “save at all costs” approach to resuscitating a dying patient against the real danger of exposing doctors and nurses to the contagion of coronavirus.
The conversations are driven by the realization that the risk to staff amid dwindling stores of protective equipment — such as masks, gowns and gloves — may be too great to justify the conventional response when a patient “codes,” and their heart or breathing stops.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has been discussing a do-not-resuscitate policy for infected patients, regardless of the wishes of the patient or their family members — a wrenching decision to prioritize the lives of the many over the one.

Walmart Coronavirus ‘Licker’ Arrested, Charged With Terrorist Threat
A 26-year-old man’s coronavirus-themed social media video, where he filmed himself licking various deodorants in a Virginia Walmart, has landed him an arrest and a charge of terrorist threat.
In the video that was taped on March 11, Cody Lee Pfister asks viewers, “Who’s scared of coronavirus?” before licking deodorant sticks out for purchase.
Pfister was charged by the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with a terrorist threat in the second degree, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Cuomo's Prison Workers Say They're Not Actually Making Hand Sanitizer
Inmates told VICE that they're really just putting a mysterious vendor's existing product in 'NYS Clean' bottles.
On March 9, New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced a measure to fight “egregious” price-gouging: an initiative to produce 100,000 gallons of New York State-produced hand sanitizer every week, to be distributed for free to needy institutions like schools, government agencies, prisons, and the MTA.
“We are problem solvers, state of New York, Empire State, progressive capital of the nation,” Cuomo said during a press conference, before opening a navy curtain and literally unveiling jugs of the “NYS Clean”-branded sanitizer, “made conveniently by the state of New York.”
But according to workers at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, New York where the hand sanitizer is being “made,” as well as a spokesperson for the prison system, they are doing nothing more than taking existing hand sanitizer and rebottling it into packaging labeled NYS Clean.

Maryland Reports 157 New COVID-19 Cases; Now More Than 1,200 Confirmed Cases In National Capital Region
“We have never faced anything like this ever before, and I continue to urge the people of our state to stay in place at home and stay safe.”
ANNAPOLIS, MD — The State of Maryland now has 580 confirmed cases of COVID-19—an increase of 157 new cases, which is by far the largest one-day increase to date. There are more than 1,200 confirmed cases in the National Capital Region—in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. The number of cases
Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement:
“We are only at the beginning of this crisis, in our state, in the National Capital Region, and in America. As I have repeatedly stressed, we should continue to expect the number of cases to dramatically and rapidly rise.
“Today, we are also seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of Marylanders filing for unemployment. We are going to do everything we can to help people and small businesses get back on their feet.
“This battle is going to be much harder, take much longer, and be much worse than almost anyone comprehends. We have never faced anything like this ever before, and I continue to urge the people of our state to stay in place at home and stay safe.
“I want Marylanders to know that if we continue to lead and work together—if we rely on and help each other—together we will get through this crisis.”

Hillary Clinton’s Emergency Plea to the Appellate Court
As our viewers already know, Hillary Clinton “was ordered deposed in a Judicial Watch FOIA case seeking the Benghazi talking points, the case that exposed the Clinton email scandal,” Fitton states. However, in resisting her court-ordered testimony before Judicial Watch attorneys, Clinton filed a mandamus petition two weeks ago, a motion akin to “suing the lower court by getting the appellate court involved to stop the court from doing something ‘improper’.”
Her “desperate attempt” to avoid in-depth questioning by Judicial Watch attorneys was ‘justified’ by her lawyers as the upholding of an “indisputable right” to not appear in court for her May 16th testimony. According to Fitton, her lawyers’ petition practically states that “she’s too important to have to testify to us [Judicial Watch].”
“Shes desperate to stop this questioning by Judicial Watch because no one has asked her questions like this before,” Fitton continues. “I encourage you to read the court order,” Fitton states, “you’ll understand why she’s desperate to avoid questioning by our top-flight attorneys.”
“We know what the issues are, and the court wants specific questions answered, but now she’s seeking this extraordinary emergency intervention to stop us.”
“So my question is: what is the Justice Department going to do about all this?”

State-Backed Chinese Hackers Launched Massive Campaign Against U.S. In Early 2020, Report Says
According to a top security firm, in early 2020 state-backed Chinese hackers conducted one of the largest espionage campaigns in recent years, targeting telecommunications, healthcare, government, defense, finance, petrochemical, manufacturing, and transportation organizations in the United states and around the world.
Referring to the hackers as APT41, Christopher Glyer, Dan Perez,Sarah Jones, and Steve Miller of FireEye stated, “This activity is one of the most widespread campaigns we have seen from China-nexus espionage actors in recent years.
The Trump administration is well-aware of China’s maleficent cyber-activities; in December, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein warned, “China stands accused of engaging in criminal activity that victimizes individuals and companies in the United States, violates our laws, and departs from international norms of responsible state behavior.”

Airline Set to Give Massive Pay Hikes as Taxpayer Bailout Advances
As the airline industry is poised to receive billions in federal handouts amid the coronavirus pandemic, union members working for American Airlines will vote Thursday to approve a new collective bargaining agreement that includes immediate pay hikes and a $6,000 signing bonus.
Top airlines in March asked congressional leaders for $29 billion in handouts, warning of "draconian measures such as furloughs" caused by the outbreak. But behind the scenes, American Airlines moved forward with an expensive new agreement. A union guide on the deal obtained by the Washington Free Beacon lists immediate pay raises of up to 18 percent, a bonus of up to $6,000 for all members, and increased vacation time. As members geared up for the Thursday vote, Congress reached a deal on a stimulus bill that would include $25 billion in subsidies to industry giants, including American Airlines.

American Spirit Shines Amid Coronavirus Crisis
The American people are, in the words of President Donald Trump, “one big beautiful American family.” How true that is. Like family we get along with some more than others. We disagree on things, often loudly and vehemently. We argue and fight, laugh, cry, and love.
Yet no family in the world sets aside differences and strengthens each other in times of crisis more than the American people. Whether it be the aftermath of the radical Islamist terrorist attacks of 9/11, the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a massive outbreak of tornadoes in the Midwest, or flooding following Hurricane Katrina, we come together to rescue our neighbor, comfort them, and help them put their lives back together.
And we do it spontaneously, without command or instruction. We see a need, and we rise to meet it; family helping family, neighbor helping neighbor. It is the epitome of the American spirit, a spirit unlike anywhere else in the world.
We saw it in 2016 with the Cajun Navy, an ad-hoc group of volunteers who hitched their boats to their trucks and drove toward Hurricane Katrina as it bore down on Louisiana. These heroes saved thousands of lives, plucking them from the raging waters that engulfed their homes. These same volunteers rescued thousands more following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Florence, and Michael.

Coronavirus Stimulus Checks: Here's Who's Eligible For Relief Payment
If all the alarming coronavirus headlines have your anxiety at an all-time high, here’s some good news: A highly anticipated stimulus package meant to provide financial relief to consumers and businesses struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic is ready to be set in motion.
Though the details of the plan have yet to be finalized and voted on, Congress has essentially agreed on the major provisions. The CARES Act, which lawmakers spent the past several days hashing out, includes a historic $2 trillion in relief funds.
But the big question on most people’s minds is whether they qualify for a cut of the money. Here’s a look at the plan, who qualifies and when you can expect to get paid.
Do I qualify for a coronavirus relief check?
The amount of money you may receive as part of this stimulus package is based on your adjusted gross income. If you already filed your federal taxes for 2019 (the deadline was extended to July 15), eligibility will be based on your AGI from that tax return. If you haven’t filed yet, the IRS will rely on information from your 2018 return or the Social Security Administration to determine eligibility.
Here’s the bad news: Not everyone will qualify for a relief check.
The maximum amount you can receive is $1,200, or if married filing jointly, $2,400 per couple. That amount phases out for single filers with an AGI between $75,000 and $99,000, joint filers with an AGI between $150,000 and $198,000 and heads of household with an AGI between $112,500 and $146,500.

Governor Hogan Demands Anyone Coming To Our State Quarantine For 14 Days
Here's what I can tell you about his demand. I have a neighbor from Pennsylvania who comes to his 2nd home every single weekend with their family. On Sunday evening they head back to PA. Catch Me If You Can. They're not here long enough to quarantine for 14 days.
I spoke to another friend of mine yesterday who lives in one of those waterfront townhouses on the water in the Riddle Farm. He told me that they are the only ones living there in the winter months. However, right now their parking lots are FULL, meaning a LOT of people are coming here from out of state, (confirmed by tags on vehicles) and yet NO ONE is policing it.
While Governor Hogan may be pounding his chest with such demands, it's a load of crap. All anyone has to do is drive around in West OC and on the island and you'll see a ton of out of state tags. Heck, just pull into the WalMart parking lot in Berlin and you'll see what I mean.
The Coronavirus is here, it's being brought in by outsiders escaping their states and we can all expect the number of positive results to skyrocket over the next two weeks. I'd like to hear what law enforcement is doing to protect us.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act is unfair for America's small businesses
Most Americans have an inherent orientation towards fair play. We don’t always get things right, but I believe, on balance, we try. So, for example, most of us would try to help the small guy (person) first rather than the person who already has a lot. We understand that the big guy often does not need as much help.
Small businesses struggle each day to make ends meet. So, when trying to remedy the fallout from the virus, I would guess that we want to help small businesses. Yet, Congress just passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which turns this thinking upside down.
In the bill, companies with more than 500 employees are exempt from the requirement to provide paid leave for their employees. Employers with under 500 employees (small businesses) are required to provide paid time off for their employees who are kept away from work as a result of the current pandemic.
