Donna Brazile criticizes Barack Obama for 'Titanic ego'

Former interim Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile has taken aim atBarack Obama and his alleged 'Titanic ego' in her new book.

Brazile, who took over the DNC from Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz after the email leaks last summer, also claimed that the former president 'leeched' the Democratic party of its vitality, leaving Hillary Clinton to 'bail it out.'

In an excerpt from her new book Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House, she accused Obama of caring 'deeply about his image' and using DNC funds to bankroll his 'pollster and focus groups' - even into his second term when he was unable to run again.

Police investigating murders committed by a confessed serial killer who targeted homeless men say he used the blood of one of his victims to write a message on the floor, it was reported on Thursday.

Nathaniel Petgrave, 22, confessed to killing three men and seriously wounded a fourth in the Fort Lauderdale area, police told WPLG-TV.

Police say Petgrave has confessed to the murders.

Police say that on October 20, Petgrave shot two homeless men, ages 65 and 68, while they slept at a gas station in Lauderhill, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale,Florida.

One of the shooting victims, 65-year-old Larry Scott, was killed, but the other, who was shot in the neck, survived, police said.

Israeli scientists say lupus may double risk of dementia

Selena Gomez’s autoimmune disease, lupus, increases the risk of dementia by 50 percent for her and 1.5 million Americans affected by the condition, a new study suggests.

Lupus causes the body’s immune system to break cells in parts of the body including the kidneys, lungs, skin and blood vessels.

This study follows on from previous research that has also suggested that it may impair memory and cognitive functions as well.

Lupus sufferers of all ages are at higher risk to develop dementia, according to the study authors, who suggest that doctors check for lupus when their patients show signs of early onset dementia.

That Bloodbath in the Old Dominion

The day after his “Silent Majority” speech on Nov. 3, 1969, calling on Americans to stand with him for peace with honor in Vietnam, Richard Nixon’s GOP captured the governorships of Virginia and New Jersey.

By December, Nixon had reached 68 percent approval in the Gallup Poll, though, a year earlier, he had won but 43 percent of the vote.

Contrast Nixon’s numbers with President Trump’s.

Where Trump won 46 percent of the vote against Hillary Clinton, his approval rating is now nearly 10 points below that. He has less support today than on the day he was elected, or inaugurated.

Tens of millions of Americans are passionately for Trump, and tens of millions are passionately against him. The GOP problem: The latter cohort is equal in intensity but larger in number, and this is especially true in purple and blue states like the commonwealth of Virginia.

There is no way to spin Tuesday as other than a Little Bighorn, and possible harbinger of what is to come.

In George Washington’s hometown of Alexandria and Arlington County, Democratic candidate Ralph Northam won 4-1. In Fairfax and Loudoun counties, the most populous D.C. suburbs, Northam won 2-1.

In the rural counties, however, Republican Ed Gillespie rolled up the landslides.

As there are two Americas, there are two Virginias.

Consider. Of all the delegate seats in the Virginia assembly allocated to Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties, the GOP can today claim only one.

Northern Virginia is taking on the political and socioeconomic profile of San Francisco.

Florida dad foils kidnapping of his daughter

A Florida father is being hailed as a hero after he bravely confronted a gang of teens who allegedly attempted to kidnap his daughter.

Amber Brackney, 17, was leaving the family home on Preservation Path, Crestview on Tuesday evening, when she found the end of her driveway blocked with barrels.

Suspecting foul play, the teen stayed in her car and was able to maneuver around the obstacles to escape down the street - without ever leaving her vehicle.

Amber's funeral director father Terry Brackney heard the commotion, grabbed his gun and ran outside to find a group of teens trying to force their way into his garage.

Cops believe the teens had 'concocted a plan to kidnap the teenage daughter' by trying to force her to leave her car to move the barrels, so they could grab her.

BUSTED: WaPo Failed To Disclose Roy Moore Accuser Worked As Sign Language Interpreter For Hillary & Biden — Openly Supports Doug Jones

One of GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore’s accusers, Debbie Gibson, has worked as a sign language interpreter for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Deborah Wesson Gibson, as she goes by on Facebook, supports Moore’s Democrat rival, Doug Jones.

Why didn’t the Washington Post disclose these details?

On Friday, Newsmax columnist James Hirsen tweeted the “Washington Post failed to disclose that one of Moore’s accusers was a sign language interpreter for Joe Biden and is a volunteer for Moore’s Democrat opponent.”

Creepy Uncle Joe Biden May Challenge Trump in 2020

Speculation grows as former VP privately floats notion

Former Vice President Joe Biden may be challenging President Trump in 2020.

In a Morning Joe interview Friday, MSNBC guest commentator Donny Deutsch revealed from a source that Biden would be running in 2020 “if he’s healthy.”

“I spoke to someone close to Biden, [who] said if he’s healthy, he’s going for it in 2020,” Deutsch stated.

Adding to the speculation, Biden, who has not formally announced he’ll be vying for the Democrat ticket, also appeared in an interview with Oprah Thursday, claiming he had regrets he’s not the president.

Roy Moore Story Unraveling? One Accuser Worked For Hillary, Another Claims Several Pastors Made Sexual Advances

From the outset, several aspects of the Washington Post‘s decades-old accusations of Roy Moore having inappropriate relations with four young women seemed off. In addition to odd circumstances surrounding the story’s origins, the accusers themselves – and even the WaPo journalist who wrote the story – have checkered pasts and political views which some could consider ulterior motives.

If the accusations against Moore are true, he needs to immediately step aside and exit politics – as both President Trump and, oddly, Mitch McConnell have stated. Moore has vehemently denied the charges.

How did the story come together?

As Radio host Mark Levin pointed out on his show last week that there are several aspects of the case which don’t really make sense. To recap; a Washington Post reporter overheard a rumor at a Roy Moore event in Alabama about Moore sexually abusing four girls 38 years ago, then found the women, interviewed them, and the rest is history.

Per WaPo:

While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women.

President George W. Bush: The Last Republican President?

We can only hope

“I don’t like him. I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard. And I’m not too excited about him being a leader.”

So says George H.W. Bush about President Donald J. Trump in Mark K. Updegrove’s soon-to-be-released, The Last Republicans. And Bush Senior admits to having voted for Hillary Clinton.

Neither is Bush Junior an admirer of his successor. “Wow, this guy doesn’t know what it means to be president.” W maintains that a president should not “exploit” and “incite” anger, but “come up with ideas to deal with it.”

Junior states that he voted for neither Trump nor Hillary Clinton.

Every American who ever desired to know the truth about our political system should thank God for Trump—regardless of whether or not they like him as a person or as a politician. Trump’s candidacy and presidency have exposed the System in all of its ugliness.

McConnell, McCain Lead Establishment Efforts to Push Roy Moore Out of Alabama Race

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and several other Republican senators said on Thursday that if allegations of misconduct are true, Alabama Senate Republican candidate Judge Roy Moore should drop out of the race.

The Washington Post released a story on Thursday alledging that Roy Moore initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32, as well as other cases of sexual misconduct.

In a written statement, Moore denied the allegations.

“These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign,” Moore said.

Axios has compiled the calls for Moore to step aside.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “If these allegations are true, he must step aside.”

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) argued, “If there is any shred of truth to the allegations against Roy Moore, he should step aside immediately.”

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said, “If there is any truth at all to these horrific allegations, Roy Moore should immediately step aside as a Senate candidate.”

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said, “I’m horrified and if this is true he needs to step down immediately.” Murkowski also said that she spoke to Luther Strange about becoming a write-in challenger to oppose Moore in the December 12 election.

Trump’s DHS Nominee Ignores His Immigration Principles, MAGA Agenda

President Donald Trump’s pending homeland security chief failed to tout his pro-American immigration principles during her hearing before Congress.

Kirstjen Nielsen’s passionless testimony and brusque answers during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee instead focused on bureaucratic issues, cybersecurity concerns and the day-to-day management of border security.

In contrast to recent testimony by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and frequent statements by White House press officials, Nielsen failed to even mention any of the President’s pro-American immigration principles during her nearly three-hour congressional hearing. Trump’s popular immigration principles include:

Domestic Workers’ Salaries’ Surge As Migrant Labour Declines in Brexit Britain

Starting salaries in Britain are rising sharply as the supply of cheap labour from the EU dwindles — as predicted by Brexit campaigners and even Remain campaign chairman Lord Stuart Rose.

“A sustained upturn in demand for staff and lower candidate availability [has] led to further increases in pay,” found a report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

“Starting salaries rose sharply overall, with the rate of inflation quickening to its second-strongest since November 2015.”

The REC buried the positive findings beneath a litany of complaints about growth slowing down as a result of business being deprived of the vast labour pool they have enjoyed under the EU’s Free Movement regime — before a reluctant admission that: “For jobseekers, this is good news, as employers are willing to pay higher starting wages to attract the right candidates.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz: ‘Unaccountable Special Prosecutor Puts America at Risk of ‘Coup d’etat’

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) joined SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Thursday’s Breitbart News Daily to talk about tax reform, which he called a “work in progress.” He also discussed his call for the removal of Robert Mueller as special counsel in the investigation of Russian influence on the 2016 election.

“It absolutely must become law because we have to deliver on the Trump agenda,” Gaetz said of tax reform. “We’re already seeing consumer confidence and business confidence and investor confidence rise in anticipation of the great work that the president’s doing. Regulatory reform and tax reform are cornerstones of that work.“

Marlow suggested the Republican establishment was trying to “run out the clock” on Trump’s presidency, delaying the passage of legislation that would improve the president’s standing with the public in the hope that an impeachment drama might remove him from office or that he will lose his re-election bid in 2020.

“We’re at a real risk, Andrew, of a coup d’etat in this country if we allow an unaccountable special prosecutor with clear conflicts of interest to spend more than a year undermining the duly elected President of the United States. It’s ludicrous,” Gaetz replied.

K-12: The Math You Need Is Not the Math You Get

Learning school subjects should be like learning anything else in life. You start at the beginning, proceed step by step, master more difficult aspects, and become skilled. Isn't that how we learn to drive a car, build a doghouse, play the piano, surf, or operate a computer? Of course. That's how we humans do it.

But our Education Establishment does not approve. Those in the Education Establishment insist on doing everything in inefficient, likely to fail ways, something like taking a child to a busy street and saying, Now, let's see you parallel park. Lots of adults, with years of experience, avoid parallel parking. But our schools (this is the essence of Common Core) put a 15-year-old in this stressful situation on the theory that he will be able to handle stress better in the future. No, many are scarred and never try parallel parking again.

Public schools (and Common Core) consistently embrace counterproductive methods. For example, "[t]he first standards gave a strong call for a de-emphasis on manual arithmetic in favor of students' discovering their own knowledge and conceptual thinking."

Now It’s The Democrats Who Have A ‘Russian Problem’

Suddenly it’s the Democrats who have a serious Russia problem.

Democratic fingerprints are all over a growing number of Russia-related scandals, including payments to Fusion GPS for its Russian-sourced Trump dossier, lobbying on behalf of Russia’s largest bank to lift economic sanctions, former President Barack Obama’s administration’s approval of the sale of Uranium One to Russia, and giving twenty percent of America’s uranium reserves to Moscow.

Republican Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Chuck Grassley of Iowa have called for the appointment of a special prosecutor to look into the mounting scandals tying Democrats to Russia.

“The bottom line is very simple, says former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “The Russian connection now is owned by the Democratic Party.”

Federal prosecutors take on pharmaceutical companies for their alleged role in opioid crisis

BOSTON – The billionaire founder of a pharmaceutical company is the latest to face criminal charges as prosecutors seek to hold big business drug makers responsible for the role they have played in the opioid crisis.

John Kapoor, 74, resigned from the board of Arizona based Insys Therapeutics in October following his arrest. He is accused of conspiring to offer kickbacks to doctors who would then prescribe Subsys, the company's fentenyl-based spray.

"The crime here was trying to profit, for Mr. Kapoor and his co-defendants, to line their pockets by bribing doctors to sell the drug to people for whom it was not intended to be used," said William Weinreb, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.

Join the Conversation Around the State Beginning in Garrett County on November 6

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland Department of Planning (Planning) is kicking off its new state development planning process, A Better Maryland, on Monday, November 6, in Oakland, Garrett County. In a series of 24 listening session outreach events in every Maryland County and Baltimore City during the winter and early spring of 2017-18, Planning will seek input from local government officials, Maryland residents, and other stakeholders.

A Better Maryland is a two-year project which was initiated by Governor Larry Hogan’s Executive Order 01.01.2017.18 this past summer, with an expected completion date of July 2019. Governor Hogan described the project as one aimed at “enriching the lives of Marylanders,” but also one that will “not supplant local planning and zoning authority.” Planning will work closely with local governments and other stakeholders, state agencies, the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission, the Maryland Municipal League, and the Maryland Association of Counties to develop and maintain a productive dialogue throughout the effort. The purpose of the listening sessions and the larger statewide dialogue is to engage and connect with Marylanders and get feedback about vital resources and information that A Better Maryland might include, and how it can help local governments and state agencies better meet their planning needs.

“The Hogan administration is committed to improving the coordination between state agencies and local government,” said Acting Secretary of Planning Robert McCord. “This thoughtful approach to planning will ensure continued economic growth, while conserving our state’s precious natural resources.”

A Better Maryland is an exciting opportunity for state and local governments, as well as Maryland residents, to work together, craft a shared vision for our state, and identify the path forward to achieve that vision,” explains Special Secretary for Smart Growth Wendi Peters.

Three meetings (elected officials, local staff, and the public) are scheduled for Garrett County on Monday, November 6, and additional meetings are scheduled for St. Mary’s County on November 28, and Wicomico County on November 29. Please visit A Better Maryland webpage at Planning.Maryland.gov for more information and announcements of future meetings. If you have any questions about A Better Maryland, please contact Chuck Boyd, Director of Planning Coordination, (chuck.boyd@maryland.gov) 410-767-1401.

WCSO Implements Body Worn Cameras

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the implementation of a Body Worn Camera Pilot Program for agency personnel. This program is guided by a policy that incorporates the best practices of the departments around the state that are successfully utilizing this tool. The objectives of the Body Worn Cameras are to enhance deputy safety, facilitate evidentiary integrity, acquire audio and visual information, enhance courtroom testimony proceedings and assist with internal inquiries. The Body Worn Cameras may also be useful in capturing events such as demonstrations and civil disorder and may be utilized to provide impartial basis for self-critiques, field evaluations and recruit deputy training.

Body Worn Camera Technology has been tested and utilized for nearly a decade throughout the U.S. Over the past year, there is an increasing interest in the use of body cameras by police. The use of body-worn cameras has become the accepted “best practice” for the law enforcement community as well as the public.

A great deal of research has been done the use of BWCs by Police.

Some of the findings include:
· Strengthening police/community relationships through increased accountability, transparency and trust
· Providing better documentation of evidence, which is more objective, accurate and reliable.
· De-Escalating confrontations between deputies and members of the public.
· Aiding in the training of deputies to strengthen and improve deputy performance and ultimately increase police officer safety.

On July 1, 2015, the Maryland legislature enacted legislation to permit law enforcement agencies to develop and implement Body Worn Camera Pilot Programs so that police officers could begin wearing these recording devices. Recognizing that we are law enforcement professionals, representing a variety of criminal justice disciplines, we saw a need to participate in this pilot program to better serve the public. Please be assured of our continued dedication to service as we strive to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Wicomico County.

Pro-life student group wins settlement after professor tries to kick away chalk messages

A California professor who is seen on video trying to censor pro-life students drawing with sidewalk chalk has been ordered to undergo First Amendment training and pay $17,000 as a result of a district court settlement.

Fresno State University public health professor Dr. Gregory Thatcher recruited students from his class to help deface the Fresno State Students for Life sidewalk chalk.

Thatcher allegedly harassed and intimidated the group, accusing them of chalking outside the free speech zone on campus -- which hadn't existed at the school since 2015.
“What the professor did was wrong, and the only permit a student needs to speak on campus is the First Amendment,” the pro-life club’s president, Bernadette Tasy, told Fox News.

The chalk messages encouraged students on campus to seek pro-life health care options.

Tasy captured an exchange between herself and Thatcher in a video clip of the incident.

Every Working American Owes $ 1.5 Million

The facts just don’t add up. US wages are falling, trade deficit is at 10 year high, debt is surging so are stocks and the US Government has again managed to publish a number of contradicting employment figures that make no sense whatsoever.

A CONFIDENT BUT UNEMPLOYED CONSUMER

US Consumer Sentiment is the highest in 13 years. At the same time US October Household Employment Survey dropped 484,000 and the Labour Force shrank by 765,000. But due to manipulation of the figures, October payroll increased by 261,000 and the Unemployment Rate declined to 4.0% from 4.2%. The Labour Participation Rate is down to the 1977 level with only 62% of the population employed or looking for work.

How can anyone believe any of these figures which tell us Payroll increased and Unemployment declined at the same time as Employment and Labour force went down substantially. It must all be pure fantasy.

'Ladies and gentlemen' no longer welcome on NYC subways

Well, it turns out man-spreading is not the most pressing threat facing the New York City subway system after all.

And neither are the trains that break down in the under belly of the city leaving passengers stranded for hours with a continuously playing pan flute ensemble.

Nor is the most pressing issue the muggers or perverts manhandling women or homeless people urinating on seats or giant rats prowling subway stations.

No, ladies and gentlemen – the greatest threat facing the Big Apple’s subway system is train conductors using the words “ladies and gentlemen.”

The New York Post reports the Metropolitan Transit Authority has ordered all subway personnel to refrain from addressing riders as “ladies and gentlemen.”

Alabama State Republicans Want POLYGRAPHS for Moore Accusers

Anyone who steps forward with “bombshell” sexual allegations, especially with “odd timing,” should have to take a polygraph test.

That’s what Alabama State GOP’ers are saying, as they call “BULL” on the 40-year-old sex abuse claims being hurled at Judge Roy Moore, who is running for Senate.

From Washington Examiner

President Trump’s Alabama state campaign co-chairmen called the allegations that Alabama Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore pursued sexual relationships with teenagers while in his 30s “bull,” and one suggested the accusers take polygraph tests.“I think it’s just a bunch of bull,” Perry Hooper Jr., Trump’s Alabama state chairman, told Talking Points Memo. “Mitch McConnell should know better to make a statement like he made unless he gets all the answers. We’re right in the political zone right now, the election’s Dec. 12th. This is the same campaign issue the left ran against Donald Trump on, they’re doing the same thing against Roy Moore.”

Podesta Email: "And Then The Bundys Showed Up"

In the pile of emails released by Wikileaks, there was one from American Progress Action to Hillary Clinton campaign manager John Podesta that contained a brief reference to the Bundys.

The email address progress@americanprogressaction.org sent Podesta an email on January 11, 2016 with the subject line: And then the Bundys showed up.

The text of the email read as follows:

After years of conflict, residents of Harney County, Oregon had finally begun to rebuild ties between ranchers and the federal government. Then the Bundys showed up. And, President Obama is leaving a seat open for shooting victims at tomorrow’s State of the Union address. In case you missed it, gun violence survivors speak out in this powerful video (editor’s note: tissues recommended).Additionally, there was a list of articles linked to Think Progress and at the top of the list was one titled How The Bundy Standoff Could Screw Over Ranchers .

The article has been removed and has not been archived.

Keep in mind, this email was sent less than 2 weeks before Oregon State Troopers, alongside the FBI shot and killed LaVoy Finicum, also a rancher who stood alongside the Bundys at Bundy Ranch in Bunkersville in 2014 and at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon in late 2015 and 2016.

This may also be insightful since we know from texts and emails that the White House, at the time, was in communication with the Oregon governor and helping to orchestrate the takedown of men who were simply exercising their constitutional rights, even to the point of killing one of them.

Biden Reportedly "Shifts In Favor" Of 2020 Presidential Bid

Earlier this week, former Vice President Joe Biden admitted that his "biggest regret in life" was not currently occupying the White House...the statement left us wondering whether he also regrets growing old, balding and not owning 75 Lambo's...perhaps we'll never know for sure.

But, of all of Joe's "regrets" in life, perhaps his missed opportunity at occupying the Oval Office is one that he may seek to rectify in the near future. As Politico reports, after months/years of waffling on the topic, Joe Biden has apparently "shifted in favor" of a new Presidential bid in 2020.

Joe Biden thinks it’s critical that Donald Trump not get a second term — and though it’s early, he doesn’t yet see anyone else who could stop that from happening.

So, he's been telling people privately, that might mean he’ll just have to run himself.

After beginning the year both teasing a 2020 bid and ruling one out — sometimes on the same day — Biden in recent months has shifted unmistakably in favor of running, say multiple people who’ve been in touch with the former vice president and his team.

For the first time in what would be the sixth presidential campaign that he’s either seriously flirted with or launched, Biden sees an argument for a candidacy for which he is the only answer: An elder statesman who can help repair the damage and divisions in the country and around the world, unite the competing wings of the Democratic Party, and appeal to traditional Democratic voters who fled last year for Trump.

Democrats demand death penalty for cops who commit assault, murder

Several House Democrats have introduced legislation that would subject state and local police to the death penalty if they are found guilty or assault or murder.

The Police Accountability Act, from Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., is one of the Democrats' answers to the police brutality that they say still plagues black Americans around the country.

His bill would subject police to the death penalty when cops commit certain crimes that already trigger the death penalty in other circumstances. Johnson, who has introduced this bill in prior Congresses, said it's needed because police cannot be put above the law.

"I support our law enforcement officers," Johnson said. "They have a difficult job to uphold the law and to protect and serve the American people and to keep them safe from harm's way. They should be commended and we owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude."

"But law enforcement officers are not above the law and should be held accountable like anyone else," he added.

Charges Dropped Against Three for Destroying N.C. Confederate Monument

Charges have now been dropped against three of the protesters charged with destroying a Confederate statue that stood in downtown Durham, North Carolina, since 1924, reports say.

Defense attorney Scott Holmes told the media that the charges were dropped against Aaron Alexander Caldwell, Myles Spigner and Taylor Cook. According to Holmes, prosecutors said probable cause exists in the cases against the three, but not enough evidence exists to prove their actions beyond a shadow of a doubt, WRAL reported.

The move by prosecutors is the first in the cases against 13 people charged with the August 14 destruction of the 90-year-old statue.

District Attorney Roger Echols, though, warned that the dismissal of these three cases should not be seen as an indication of what is to come in the other ten cases.

Accusations against Moore already debunked?

There’s a claim spreading on social media that a reporter was taped while reportedly offering a woman $1000 to accuse Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual improprieties.

The unconfirmed rumor, which seems to have originated from a former Secret Service agent, claims the woman taped the conversation she had with the reporter and sent copies to the Etowah Co. District Attorney and the FBI.

LEGENDARY COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 11-11-17

HITTING THE ROAD

The N.Y., P. & N. railroad station in 1905.

My grandfather said very little about his early years, probably because there wasn’t too much variety in his life. His formal education ended in 1904 when he was 15 years old and still in the fifth grade. He then began a life of hard work that would last for some 63 years when he finished building his last house at age 78. His first job was working for his father on the family farm. Apparently his father had a way of dispensing punishment with what my grandfather called a buggy whip. He was made to lean over a railing and, when his father struck him he said he could see his own blood spurt from the wound on his stomach. One day, when he was 16, he took the whip from his father before he could touch him, pushed him down a flight of stairs and told him he was the last man that was ever going to lay a hand on him. That night, he left home for good,

He walked the two miles to Salisbury by way of Anderson Road (now Pemberton Drive) and went to the railroad station. The railroad station in 1905 was the N.Y., P. & N. Station (New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk) and was located on the West side of the tracks about 200 yards South of where the Union Station is today. He inquired of the station attendant when the next train was coming through. He said he didn’t care at the time whether it was heading North or South. The attendant told him that the only train going through that night was an express going South, to which my grandfather replied, “I didn’t ask what it was, I asked when it was coming through.”

Around 9:30 that night he took a chance that could have ended his life before it started. He said the train was going 30-35 mph as it approached the station. The attendant told him he could never catch it, but he hadn’t figured on my grandfather’s desperation and determination. As the train approached, he began running down the platform and was positioned to make his move when the train’s box cars passed close to him. He often told me that when he grabbed the ladder attached to one of the box cars he knew that if he didn’t hang on he would have been thrown under the train and killed. The jolt he got when he was snatched up by the speeding train separated him from his prized derby hat and relieved him of all the buttons on his leather jacket. But, hang on he did. He was now heading South, with no hat, and only the clothes of his back and $4.35 in his pocket. He said his hat had his name in the hatband and one of his family ended up with the hat. When he finally came home for good in 1910, the hat wasn’t returned to him and he never had much to do with his family for the rest of his life.

He stayed on that train until he finally got off in Pee Dee, South Carolina.

Pizzagate: DC police is investigating Comet Ping Pong!

This post first appeared at Fellowship of the Minds

Comet Ping Pong is a popular “family style” and curiously politically-prominent pizza restaurant located less than 5 miles from the White House.

The pizzeria’s owner is James Alefantis, a former boyfriend of Clinton crony and Democratic Party operative David Brock of Media Matters. Though a mere pizza restaurateur, GQ magazine in 2012 had Alefantis as 49th among the 50 most powerfulpeople in Washington, D.C. — along with such political luminaries as Hillary Clinton (no. 5), Gen. David Petraeus (no. 7), Rep. Paul Ryan (no. 21), Democrat lobbyist Tony Podesta(no. 23), Jake Sullivan, Director of Policy Planning and member of the 7th Floor Group in the State Department (no. 33), and Sen. Marco Rubio (no. 43).

For a “mere” pizzeria owner, James Alefantis visited the Obama White House four times. One visit was an overnighter in which Alefantis’ group of four included a male porn star.

The US Just Approved ‘Killer’ Lab-Grown Mosquitoes to Help Fight Disease

The Environmental Protection Agency has given the green light to biotech startup MosquitoMate.

The US government has approved the release of lab-grown killer mosquitoes into the wild to help stop the spread of disease. The specially-designed insects will carry a natural bacteria that infects and kills wild mosquitoes, which can carry viruses including Zika and dengue.

"First we're going to prove our business model here in Lexington, Kentucky, but we have approval in 20 states," Karen Dobson, the production manager at MosquitoMate, a biotech company that developed the mosquitoes, told Motherboard over the phone.

Dune joyride goes 20 blocks

Federalsburg driver says he can’t recall getting behind wheel

Daniel Silvers, 47, of Federalsburg, Maryland, told police he blames a mixture of prescription medication and alcoholic beverages consumed Saturday evening for a nearly 20-block joyride along the dunes between 118th Street and 99th Street when he was discovered early Sunday morning.

Police answered a report of a vehicle on the beach at almost 6 a.m. Sunday, where Pfc. Adam Lapinski discovered Silvers apparently asleep behind the wheel of the still-running Ford Explorer that was stuck in reverse. Lapinski saw the front bumper was missing and the front fender was damaged on the passenger’s side.

Former councilwoman Hall seeking jury trial for theft

Erstwhile owner of Berlin shop accused of passing bad checks for inventory

Former Berlin councilwoman and mayoral candidate Lisa Hall requested a jury trial when she appeared in District Court on Friday after the court rejected her request for postponement.

Judge Melvin Jews asked Hall if she had found representation in the case involving two counts of theft and four counts of passing bad checks to an Upper Marlboro, Maryland meat supplier, ostensibly to stock the now defunct Berlin Butcher Shop business Hall said had recently been dissolved.

Hall said she was waiting on the proceeds from the sale of her home, 302 Ann Drive in Berlin, Maryland, to secure representation, and the sale would proceed to settlement in two weeks’ time.

Jews asked the prosecutors if they had any objection to the delay, and while no formal protest was made, it was noted that two witnesses were present and the lawyers were ready to proceed.

Jews reminded Hall she had a right to a jury trial, and asked her if she wanted to avail herself of that option, and she agreed. The jury trial, which accompanies a move to Circuit Court, has not been scheduled.

According to the complaint signed on Sept. 9, C & C Meat Sales Inc. made two deliveries on April 27 and May 27 valued at $2,836.91 and $2,415.46 and were both paid for with bad checks, apparently signed by Hall.

New OC Zoning District Proposal Removed From Comp Plan; Short-Term Rental Definition Sought

OCEAN CITY — A new R-1A zoning district that would essentially ban short-term rentals in Ocean City’s single-family residential communities will not be included in the revised comprehensive plan, but the issue is far from over.

In the wake of growing complaints about vacation rentals in some of Ocean City’s traditional year-round single family home neighborhoods, resort officials about three years ago began a debate about creating a new R-1A zoning designation that would somewhat insulate the year-round communities. However, after considerable and often contentious debate, it was determined the issue would best be addressed in the town’s five-year comprehensive plan update now nearing its conclusion.

The planning commission has been working on the five-year update of the town’s comprehensive plan for several months and that process is nearing its inclusion. However, included in the draft comprehensive plan is language that renewed the debate about the potential R-1A district. It’s important to note the comprehensive plan is largely a broad look at all future growth and development in the resort and not a mandate to adopt certain elements including the possible creation of an R-1A zoning designation.

After the Mayor and Council tabled the discussion on the R-1A district and deferred to the update on the comprehensive plan as the appropriate place to take it up again, the focus changed from creating a new zoning designation to more stringent rental license requirements, maximum occupancy calculations and other actions including increased public outreach and education about the sections of the code regarding short-term rental already on the books.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Retirement Income Tax Relief for Veterans

Proposes Legislation to Eliminate State Taxes on All Retirement Income for Military Veterans

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that he will reintroduce legislation in the upcoming 2018 legislative session to eliminate all state income tax on retirement income received as a result of military service. The Hogan administration has introduced similar legislation during the past three legislative sessions, however it has yet to pass in full.

The governor made the announcement at the State House during Veterans Appreciation Month and in advance of the nation’s 99th commemoration of Veterans Day on Saturday. He was joined by Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary George W. Owings III; members of the Maryland Veterans Commission, including Chairman Fred Shinbur; Commander Betty Brown of Disabled American Veterans; Maryland Military Officers Association of America President Harvey Kaplan; and Art Cooper, chair of the Senior Citizens League of the Retired Enlisted Association. Also in attendance were representatives of numerous veterans’ organizations including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of the Purple Heart, the Fleet Reserve Association, AMVETS, the Vietnam Veterans Association, the Korean War Veterans Association, and the Maryland National Guard.

“There can’t possibly be words adequate enough to express our sincere gratitude, respect, and appreciation to all of our military veterans,” said Governor Hogan. “These heroes make Maryland stronger, and we want to do everything we can to make sure that all of our veterans can continue to live, work, raise a family, and eventually retire, right here.

“Not only is this a deserved benefit for those who have served our country, this bill will also help make Maryland more competitive with other states in our region that already offer this benefit. We cannot afford to lose our veterans to neighboring states.”

Three states bordering Maryland already offer either full or partial tax exemption for military retirement income. Delaware offers partial exemption, while Pennsylvania and West Virginia fully exempt military retirement pay.

"The very definition of fake news and intentional defamation."

The Roy Moore campaign this afternoon released this statement in response to an article from The Washington Post claiming the U.S. Senate candidate had a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl in 1979 when Moore was 32.

Here is the statement:

Today, the Judge Roy Moore Campaign for U.S. Senate issued a statement responding to yet another baseless political attack by the Washington Post, a paper that has endorsed Judge Moore's opponent. Moore campaign chair Bill Armistead released the following statement on Thursday afternoon:

"Judge Roy Moore has endured the most outlandish attacks on any candidate in the modern political arena, but this story in today's Washington Post alleging sexual impropriety takes the cake. National liberal organizations know their chosen candidate Doug Jones is in a death spiral, and this is their last ditch Hail Mary.

"The Washington Post has already endorsed the Judge's opponent, and for months, they have engaged in a systematic campaign to distort the truth about the Judge's record and career and derail his campaign. In fact, just two days ago, the Foundation for Moral Law sent a retraction demand to the Post for the false stories they wrote about the Judge's work and compensation. But apparently, there is no end to what the Post will allege.."
