Weekend at Hillary's, a tragicomedy about lying enablers and a White House campaign
Sure, it looked like a scene out of Weekend at Bernie’s. At first glance, anyway.
Strange purplish sunglasses concealing dead, hooded eyes. Pantsuit as vibrant as a sack of spoiled potatoes tipped against a bollard. Helmet of hair toggling as aides hoist and jostle her feet-first — one shoe on, one shoe off into the security van with tinted windows.
The pre-Clinton era slapdash attempted-comedy is not nearly as funny as it was unforgettable for its utterly unbelievable and ridiculously goofball plot.
Basically, a couple of guys have to prop up their dead boss and make him look alive for an entire Labor Day weekend at a Hampton’s beach house. If they fail, the employees will lose their jobs and face criminal prosecution for the intricate financial swindle their boss has been playing.

"North Carolina kidnapped Virginia barbecue": Author asserts the delicacy started in the commonwealth
It’s hard not to conjure up Don Quixote when considering Joe Haynes. Like the famous fictional character who went into the Spanish countryside on a quest to right wrongs, Haynes has traveled the hills and valleys of Virginia to right the wrong he believes has been done to the state’s barbecue.
“Virginia doesn’t get its due,” says Haynes. “Virginia, not that long ago, was one of the nation’s great barbecue destinations.”
A mild-mannered technology consultant by day, Haynes, 54, is on a mission to save Virginia barbecue from obscurity. In 2016, he got the Virginia General Assembly to designate May through October as Virginia Barbecue Season. He runs a blog called Obsessive Compulsive Barbecue that’s heavy on Virginia tidbits. He’s trying to market three Virginia-style sauces that he developed. And this week saw the arrival of his book, “Virginia Barbecue: A History” (Arcadia Publishing).

Pneumonia Virus Terrified After Remembering What Clintons Capable Of
WASHINGTON—Expressing regret over its reckless decision to infect the Democratic presidential nominee, the virus causing Hillary Clinton’s pneumonia was reportedly terrified Monday after remembering what the Clintons were capable of. “Oh sh**, what the hell was I thinking—you don’t get on the wrong side of these people,” said the infectious agent, which became increasingly worried while recalling just how far the Clintons were willing to go to get what they wanted, as well as what often happened to those who dared to cross the powerful politicians. “Everybody knows you never mess with the Clintons. These people won’t hesitate to absolutely crush you, and they have the money and connections to do it. I knew I should’ve just stayed clear. I’m so f*****.” At press time, the horrified virus was reportedly planning to avoid the Clintons’ wrath by taking its own life.

Impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen
The House Freedom Caucus will attempt to force a vote on impeaching IRS Commissioner John Koskinen Tuesday on the House floor.
Good. The man needs to go. Or at least be held accountable.
Establishment Republicans are worried, though. They’re concerned the House Freedom Caucus has pushed the House too far rightward since its founding in 2015. The group helped drive the ouster of then House Speaker John Boehner, and is viewed by The New York Times as “ultraconservative Republicans” attempting “partisan mischief.”

ILLEGAL ALIEN STRANGLED WOMAN TO DEATH IN MARYLAND
BALTIMORE, MD (The Baltimore Sun) – A man from El Salvador who is in the country illegally has been charged with killing a woman in Northwest Baltimore and is considered a suspect in another woman’s killing last week, police said Friday.
Police said officers responding to a call of a woman screaming early Thursday cut their headlights and crept behind a home in the 3900 block of Dolfield Ave. There, the officers saw a man over the body of Ranarda Williams, 35. He fled into a nearby garage but was caught and taken into custody.
Williams was taken to a hospital, where she died. She had been strangled, police said.
Col. Stanley Brandford said the suspect gave multiple names, but after consulting with federal immigration officials, police determined that he was 21-year-old Elias Josael Jimenes Avardo. Police said he was in the country illegally, but they have little other information about his background. On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Avardo.

Here’s How Many Illegals Were Caught per Day in August
In August, U.S. Customs and Border Protection had another record-shattering month at the Southwest border. 5,804 unaccompanied alien children and 9,359 members of family units crossing from Mexico unlawfully were captured by patrols. On average, about 1,195 illegal aliens were caught a day.
August’s apprehension totals surpassed the previous 2016 record set in the previous month, July. 12,570 were caught crossing the border.
As of now in 2016, CBP reports it’s caught 369,522 illegal alien border-crossers. This includes 54,052 unaccompanied alien children. About 67 percent of the total captures were single adults.
The number of unaccompanied illegal alien children who’ve crossed the border in 2016 is about 57 percent higher over the number that crossed during the first 11 months in 2015. However, the large number of family members who have crossed together in 2016 is nearly double those that crossed in the previous year in 2015. Essentially, immigration on various levels is increasing at near or over doubling rates since last year.

Donald Trump would level free-trade playing field
Trump would level the free trade playing field tilted against the U.S.
It’s time to put the brakes on globalization, not shut it down.
Freer movement of goods, technology, capital and people across borders offers enormous benefits but also imperils our civilization.
Think of what Americans would be driving today if Toyota and Honda had not taken Chevrolet and Ford to school with the Camry and Accord. Although General Motors ultimately needed a bailout, Ford transformed itself by integrating cutting-edge technologies into vehicles ordinary people can afford and now has customer loyalty to rival any Japanese competitor.
The annual competition between Apple and Samsung for the best smartphone has catapulted our lives into hyper productivity. It lets us go to our kid’s 4 p.m. soccer game without really leaving the office.

Five Area Agencies to Assist OCPD during Fall Events
OCEAN CITY, MD –: In preparation for the upcoming fall events in the resort, the Ocean City Police Department has made an agreement with other area agencies who will be assisting us while the town’s population continues to swell into the shoulder season. Those neighboring agencies include the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the Maryland State Police. To varying degrees, they will be assisting the OCPD during OC BikeFest and Endless Summer Cruisin’, which are held in Ocean City. They will also bolster enforcement efforts in Ocean City during the H2OInternational Car Show, officially based in Whaleyville.
The shoulder seasons in the resort continue to grow in popularity as a result of the growth of many popular special events. By the time many of these events have begun, the majority of OCPD’s seasonal staff have left the department making it challenging to provide the staffing levels needed to patrol the resort during these special events due to the large number of visitors.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the relationships we have with these neighboring agencies. These partnerships that have been formed are extremely beneficial for us and the residents and visitors of Ocean City can rest assured that their town will remain safe during these popular events,” commented Chief Ross Buzzuro. “We know that these agencies will be here to assist us when we need it most, and conversely the OCPD is ready and willing to help each of them whenever we are asked.”

Pneumonia? Hillary Received Neurological Test Before She Collapsed
Image shows Clinton grasping fingers of nurse
Despite her campaign claiming it was pneumonia that led to her ill health in New York on Sunday, Hillary Clinton was caught on camera receiving a neurological test from someone who appeared to be a nurse.
The image shows Hillary grasping the woman’s fingers with her fist, which is a classic motor neuron test to determine abnormalities in the nervous system.
The NYU School of Medicine details how the test is conducted:
“Test the patient’s grip by having the patient hold the examiner’s fingers in their fist tightly and instructing them not to let go while the examiner attempts to remove them. Normally the examiner cannot remove their fingers. This tests the forearm flexors and the intrinsic hand muscles. Compare the hands for strength asymmetry.”

Ocean City’s Only Bowling Alley Marks 50th Anniversary
OCEAN CITY – Many businesses have come and gone in Ocean City over the years, but Ocean Lanes on 72nd Street has remained a staple for locals and tourists alike.
Although some things have changed since it first opened on Sept. 11, 1966, the game, and the memories it creates, remain the same for each generation that visits the establishment.
After reaching its 50th anniversary last weekend, co-owner Craig Smith says the business will continue to focus on its customers.
As many restaurants and outdoor venues wrap up for the summer, Ocean Lanes is just getting started with its busy season.
“So many come here and think that we are a summer operation and bowling centers are just the opposite,” Smith says. “We are busy in the winter time.”

Clinton Tech Aide Had No Security Clearance
The aide who set up former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private servers and email apparently had no security clearance, according to the findings of a congressional committee Tuesday.
Clinton aide Justin Cooper turned heads concerning the Department of State records preservation practices during a hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cooper is the same aide who also sometimes destroyed Clinton’s BlackBerry phones, “breaking them in half or hitting them with a hammer,” the FBI investigative summary report said.
Cooper was a longtime aide of former president Bill Clinton when he helped install Hillary Clinton’s system in 2008 during her first bid for the presidency.

US Official: Difficult to Alter US Elections Through Hacking
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s homeland security adviser said Wednesday that it would be very hard for someone to hack into America’s voting systems in a way that could alter an election outcome.
Lisa Monaco, speaking at an event commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the Justice Department’s national security division, said election systems by and large are not hooked up to the Internet and are diffusely operated by state and local governments.
“That makes it extremely disparate, extremely diffuse and, as a consequence, extremely difficult to have an effect across the board that would result in a change in results,” Monaco said during a question-and-answer session.

Bill Clinton Aide Asked Official for Help with Profit University
A top aide to Bill Clinton requested that the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia attend an event for a for-profit university that was paying Clinton millions of dollars as well as a meeting with Clinton, the university’s CEO, and the Malaysian prime minister.
Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff at the State Department, Huma Abdein, was coped on emails requesting the ambassador’s attendance at both the event and meeting, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.
Doug Band, the Bill Clinton aide, worked on setting up the meetings with Ambassador Paul Jones after Abedin introduced them, according to the Daily Mail.
Abedin told Band that the ambassador had “offered assistance” for Bill Clinton’s upcoming trip to Malaysia, where Laureate University had an affiliate college called INTI International University that just months before had been granted “university status” by the Malaysian government.
“I’m connecting you with our ambassador Paul Jones by email. He has offered assistance, if you need it, from him or the embassy,” wrote Abedin in the email to both Band and Jones.

Ron Maxwell: Hillary's Totalitarian Moment
The dehumanization and objectification of political adversaries as preparation and justification for mass murder came into sharp focus as an effective weapon during the French Revolution.
The specific insults morph to fit the circumstances and the times, but each insult is designed to have the same effect — to dehumanize and to objectify a group of people in opposition to the dominant group that has seized power and the legal mechanisms of the State.
Here is a partial list of the defamatory names of condemnation as utilized by tyrannical regimes as well as the fate meted out to people branded as such:

Chilli and ginger 'slash the risk of cancer - stopping tumours growing'
Scientists at the American Chemical Society found the compounds capsaicin, from chillis, and 6-gingerol from ginger, cut the risk of lung cancer
How hot can you handle your spice?
If you’re one to shy away from the vindaloo, classing yourself as more of a korma-kinda kid, it may be time to man up.
New evidence suggests eating chilli and ginger together could help prevent cancer.

Last Chance For The "Deplorables"
Speaking to 1,000 of the overprivileged at an LGBT fundraiser, where the chairs ponied up $250,000 each and Barbra Streisand sang, Hillary Clinton gave New York’s social liberals what they came to hear.
“You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” smirked Clinton to cheers and laughter. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, you name it.” They are “irredeemable,” but they are “not America.”
This was no verbal slip. Clinton had invited the press in to cover the LGBT gala at Cipriani Wall Street where the cheap seats went for $1,200. And she had tried out her new lines earlier on Israeli TV:
“You can take Trump supporters and put them in two baskets.” First there are “the deplorables, the racists, and the haters, and the people who … think somehow he’s going to restore an America that no longer exists. So, just eliminate them from your thinking…”
And who might be in the other basket backing Donald Trump?
They are people, said Clinton, “who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them. … These are people we have to understand and empathize with.”

BIAS ALERT: CBS edits out Bill Clinton slip on Hillary health
CBS Evening News edited out what sure sounded like a Freudian slip and a lawyerly correction when Bill Clinton was talking about how often his wife collapses from dehydration.
“She’s been well, if it is it’s a mystery to me and all of her doctors, because frequently, not frequently, rarely, but on more than one occasion, over the last many, many years, the same sort of thing has happened to her where she got severely dehydrated,” the former president said of Hillary Clinton, who is seeking the office he once held.
The CBS News website posted video showing the exchange, and Clinton’s mid-sentence correction. But when the exchange with Charlie Rose occurred during the nightly newscast, the “frequently, not frequently, rarely” part edited out.
For folks who wonder if the public is being told all there is to know about the former secretary of state’s health, Clinton’s full sentence seemed to hold a tantalizing clue. By the time other news channels, including Fox, picked up the comment, the slipup was gone.

Pennsylvania Democrats Explain Why They'll Vote Trump
Every single Pennsylvania Democrat who attended a recent voter-registration drive in a small western community pledged to vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump.
“They think it is the celebrity of Trump,” Sheik Shannon, 55, told The Atlantic, referring to the political class’s understanding of why people like him are voting Trump. “It’s not. They think we’ve all gone mad. We’ve not. Communities like where I live do not need to shutter and die. We lead solid, honest lives, we work hard, we play hard, we pray hard … we love where we are from, and we feel a duty to make sure that it is here for generations.”
He and more than 60 other employees of Lee Supply Company showed up at the informal drive led by Secure Energy for America — a trade association working to get out the energy worker vote in Pennsylvania.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Maryland Democrats
When it comes to the hypocrisy of Maryland's Democratic Party, one has to spell the word in capital letters ("Hogan's order on school start roiling politics, partisan roles," September 8). Did Nancy Kopp, the true blue Democratic Maryland treasurer, accuse Gov. Martin O'Malley of an "abuse of executive power" when he issued an executive order mandating that new homes with septic systems use costly technology to limit pollution? Of course not. That characterization only applies when a Republican governor dares to issue an executive order. Nancy Kopp is awaiting Attorney General Brian Frosh's formal opinion on the matter.
And then there's House Speaker Michael E. Busch: "In a phone call with Frosh last week, [he] argued that anything short of declaring the governor's action illegal would set a bad precedent." Really? The truth of the matter is that if Governor O'Malley or Anthony Brown, had he been elected governor instead of Mr. Hogan, issued the same executive order regarding school start, we wouldn't have heard a peep from Ms. Kopp or Mr. Busch, or any other Democrat in the legislature for that matter. Mr. Busch's arrogance is so gross that he's not the least bit embarrassed to admit that he called Mr. Frosh to tell him how he should rule regarding Mr. Hogan's executive order.

Friend: Hillary's falls 'not infrequent,' Bill worried
Hillary Rodham Clinton refused her husband's demand that she go to the hospital for a checkup following her fall Sunday due to pneumonia, according to biographer Edward Klein, the author of several books critical of the Clintons.
In an interview with Secrets, Klein quoted a Clinton family friend of three decades who claimed the couple had a "knock down, drag out" fight over her refusal to seek further medical help and testing.
"Bill was insisting that she go to the hospital. They had a knock down, dragout fight about this, even with her pneumonia, because she refused. It was her decision not to go, because she was afraid that if she went to the hospital it would make it look like she was even sicker and it would hurt her campaign even more. So it was her decision not to do that," said Klein.
Klein, the author of the upcoming Clinton book Guilty As Sin,described his source this way: "A source who is one of Hillary's friends for the last three decades."

Trump surges into national lead over Hillary
4.4% spike in aftermath of Clinton's collapse on 9/11
Donald Trump took a three-point lead in the Los Angeles Times tracking poll of the 2016 presidential race Tuesday, topping Hillary Clinton by 45.8 percent to 42.8 percent and breaking free from a virtual tie just a day earlier.
It was a 4.4 percent spike for Trump since Sunday.
The result, however, remains in the poll’s “area of uncertainty,” which means the race is too close to call.
The USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Presidential Election Daybreak Poll is the first to reflect voters’ sentiments after Clinton’s near-collapse on camera in New York on Sunday. Clinton left a 9/11 memorial event early because she wasn’t feeling well, and then, while entering a limousine, took a couple of jerky steps and fell, with Secret Service preventing her from landing on the ground.
The Trump support comes amid reports that Democrats are worried that Clinton might need to be replaced.

Pat Caddell: Hillary Clinton's Health Scare Reminiscent of McGovern-Eagleton Fiasco
Longtime Democratic pollster and consultant Pat Caddell spoke to Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow Tuesday about how things would potentially play out if Hillary Clinton had to be replaced on the ballot.
Caddell reflected, “In 1972 … we went through this with the McGovern campaign with Tom Eagleton. But that was in August, and we had a different amount of time to deal with this. So the question is, can you change the ballot?”
For those who may not remember, NPR’s “The Eagleton Fiasco of 1972” sums up the events to which Caddell was referring. Much like Clinton’s pneumonia, assuming that is what it is, Eagleton had a health issue he kept secret, as well:

The Nuclear Option: Hillary Clinton Campaign Becomes 'Weekend at Bernie's'

Embattled Christians push for homeland in Middle East
Christians driven from their ancestral homelands and persecuted by Islamist terrorists are pressing for an autonomous region of their own if the dust of Middle East violence ever settles.
Representatives of Iraq's Christian and Yazidi communities, as well as members of other religious minorities, convened in Washington last weekend and put forward a plan to carve out a sovereign state in the Nineveh Plain. Their plan has the backing of several lawmakers, including Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, R-Neb., who introduced a congressional resolution supporting the idea last week.
“Christians, Yazidis and other ethnic and religious minorities have been slaughtered and driven from their homes by ISIL’s horrific genocide,” Fortenberry told advocacy groups at In Defense of Christians' national convention last week.
The plan is a response to declarations by Congress and the State Department last March that ISIS was responsible for genocide against Christians and other religious and ethnic minorities in the region. A safe zone that could evolve into a sovereign state could allow them to remain safe from the black-clad jihadist army, say backers.
“One next step must be the re-securitization and revitalization of the Nineveh Plain, allowing the repatriation of those who had to flee," said Fortenberry. "This resolution, which follows on the government of Iraq’s own initiative to create a province in the Nineveh Plain region, seeks to restore the ancestral homeland of so many suffering communities.”

Gen. Mike Flynn at London Center Award Ceremony: ‘I’m Deplorable’
NEW YORK CITY, New York—Lt. General Mike Flynn received the prestigious Defense of American Principles Award from the London Center for Policy Research at the 2016 American Liberty Awards Dinner at the Metropolitan Club on Monday.
Others receiving awards from the London Center were Congressman Jim Jordan, philanthropist Foster Friess, and former Indiana Governor and President of Purdue University Mitch Daniels.
“I’ve got a secret to tell you,” General Flynn began his remarks at the exclusive dinner. “I’m deplorable,” General Flynn said to huge applause, referencing Hillary Clinton’s attack on supporters of Donald Trump as a “basket of deplorables.”
General Flynn continued his praise of Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump saying that Trump’s biggest problem is that he “tells the truth” and that the business mogul refuses to follow the tenets of “political correctness.” He also spent a considerable portion of his remarks attacking the “rules of engagement” that limit our military forces’ ability to win conflicts. Flynn pointed out that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would continue those failed tactics.

Doctor Explains Why Hillary's 9/11 "Medical Episode" Is More Consistent With Parkinson's Than Pneumonia
A few weeks back, Dr. Ted Noel, an anesthesiologist with 36 years of experience, gained notoriety by sharing his opinion on his website, Vidzette, that Hillary likely had Parkinson’s disease.
Now, Dr. Noel has posted a new video in which he explains how Hillary's behavior on 9/11 and the subsequent decisions made by her campaign staff and secret service detail are more consistent with Parkinson's disease than pneumonia.
Among other things, Noel points out that if Hillary actually was suffering from such a severe case of pneumonia that it forced her to literally collapse on a sidewalk, it's extremely unlikely that she could make a seemingly full recovery after only 90 minutes at Chelsea's apartment and feel well enough to great onlookers and snap a selfie with a child. Per Noel, Hillary's recovery timing is more consistent with how long it would take her to ingest a dosage of Levodopa and wait for her Parkinson's symptoms to subside. Noel also points out that sunglasses with dark blue lenses, like the ones Hillary wore this weekend despite the cloud cover, have been noted by doctors to help treat patients with major motion disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
With that preview, here is the full analysis:

Hillary Least Popular Dem With Blacks Since 1960
Even Jimmy Carter had more black support in loss to Reagan
Hillary Clinton has the lowest support among African-Americans as a Democratic presidential candidate since 1960.
The former Secretary of State only has around 73% of support from blacks, which is alarming for a Democratic candidate; usually a Democrat, win or lose, captures on average 87% of African-American support during a presidential election.
Before Hillary, the lowest since 1960 was Jimmy Carter with 83% during the 1980 election, which he lost to Ronald Reagan.
“Clinton recently spoke before a Black Baptist convention and was only able to fill 20% of the seats placed in the room,” reporter citizen-journalist Kevin Collins. “…The faked polls can say what they want, but Hillary Clinton is in deep trouble with exactly the groups she will need if she expects to win in November.”

Obama: The Time Has Come for Me to Pass the Baton to Hillary
President Obama campaigned Tuesday in Philadelphia on behalf of Hillary Clinton and told the crowd “the time has come for me to pass the baton on” to her.
The audience seemed fired up at the suggestion that a Clinton presidency would serve as a third term for Obama’s legacy.
Clinton has focused much of her campaign on many of the same issues that President Obama addressed in his past eight years in office, including equal pay, combating climate change, and debt-free college.
Earlier at the rally Obama lead the crowd in his 2008 signature chant, “Yes we can.” Obama asked of the crowd “to work as hard for Hillary as you did for me.”

Swedish Economist: Low Skilled Migrants a 'Ticking Time Bomb'
Despite politicians’ insistence that migrants who poured into Sweden last year were highly educated and would be an economic boon, SEB economist Johan Javeus has warned that the newcomers are low skilled, and a “ticking time bomb” in the labour market.
The Scandinavian Individual Bank (SEB) economist warned that the lack of menial jobs combined with record high mass migration is a time bomb that could explode in time for the 2018 elections. Labour minister Ylva Johansson played down concerns, describing it as “a challenge that can be managed”.
In 2015, the difference in the unemployment rate among highly-educated Swedes and among foreign-born with only basic secondary education stood at a record level of more than 30 percentage points.

West Virginia cop fired for not killing a man with an unloaded gun
We’ve tracked countless cases here where cops were able to keep their jobs after killing unarmed people, killing people after responding to the wrong house, killing people and then lying about it . . . the list goes on.
Give the Weirton, W.Va., police chief some credit. He’s come up with a new spin on the the same problem. He just fired a cop for not killing someone.
After responding to a report of a domestic incident on May 6 in Weirton, W.Va., then-Weirton police officer Stephen Mader found himself confronting an armed man.
Immediately, the training he had undergone as a Marine to look at “the whole person” in deciding if someone was a terrorist, as well as his situational police academy training, kicked in and he did not shoot.

Police are routinely building up private DNA databases
The five teenage boys were sitting in a parked car in a gated community in Melbourne, Florida, when a police officer pulled up behind them.
Officer Justin Valutsky closed one of the rear doors, which had been ajar, and told them to stay in the car. He peered into the drivers’ side window of the white Hyundai SUV and asked what the teens were doing there. It was a Saturday night in March 2015 and they told Valutsky they were visiting a friend for a sleepover.
Valutsky told them there had been a string of car break-ins recently in the area. Then, after questioning them some more, he made an unexpected demand: He asked which one of them wanted to give him a DNA sample.
After a long pause, Adam, a slight 15-year-old with curly hair and braces, said, “Okay, I guess I’ll do it.” Valutsky showed Adam how to rub a long cotton swab around the inside of his cheek, then gave him a consent form to sign and took his thumbprint. He sealed Adam’s swab in an envelope. Then he let the boys go.
Telling the story later, Adam would say of the officer’s request, “I thought it meant we had to.”
Over the last decade, collecting DNA from people who are not charged with — or even suspected of — any particular crime has become an increasingly routine practice for police in smaller cities not only in Florida, but in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and North Carolina as well.

DNC staffer calls party donors 'clowns' in leaked email
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
A recently leaked email from the Democratic National Committee shows Mid-Atlantic Finance Director Alexandra Shapiro referred to party donors as “clowns.”
During a May 16, 2016 discussion about an upcoming fundraiser, Shapiro wrote, “Vaughn’s still trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this Rudy guy and his $100k. That’s coming with 4 seats so could be a bit touchy.
“Bittel is being wishy washy on whether or not he’s coming,” Shapiro wrote.
“Trying to lock down John Maa,” referring to a wealthy donor and California surgeon, “and it looks like Phil Munger is planning on coming but I don’t have his money yet and I’m hearing it through the grapevine.

Obama Demands 30 Percent Boost in Refugees
President Obama wants the U.S. to take 30 percent more refugees in 2017, the administration told Congress on Tuesday, calling for Americans to do more on the world stage at a time when many voters are already balking at the current pace.
The announcement seems designed to boost Mr. Obama’s hand ahead next week, when he’s scheduled to host a summit on the sideline of the U.N., pressing international leaders for action on a global refugee crisis.
At home, though, his new refugee target likely to renew controversy over the ability of the U.S. to absorb newcomers, particularly from countries where vetting is not easy, and where terrorist networks have expressed an interest in inserting operatives into the refugee stream.
“The common sense concerns of the American people are simply ignored as the administration expands its reckless and extreme policies,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican and chairman of the Senate’s immigration subcommittee.
The administration’s target for fiscal year 2017 is 110,000 refugees, up from the 85,000 goal in 2016 and 70,000 in 2015. Just a few weeks ago, the State Department was hinting at a target of 100,000 refugees next year, and it’s not clear why the additional 10,000 were added.
So far, no target has been set for Syrians — the most controversial population of refugees — but the administration said it expects a significantly higher number next year. At the current pace, some 30,000 could be approved for resettlement over the next 12 months.

The World Is Turning Ugly As 2016 Winds Down
I have to say that the negative reverberations in our current economic and political environment are becoming so strong thatit is impossible for people to not feel at least some uneasiness in their gut. I imagine this is the same kind of sensation many felt from 1914 to 1918 during World War I and the terrible birth of communism, or perhaps in the early 1930s at the onset of the Great Depression and the rise of fascism. Some global changes are so disturbing that they send shockwaves through the collective unconscious before they ever hit the mainstream. People know that something is about to happen, even if they cannot yet clearly define it.
At the beginning of August in my article “2016 Will End With Economic Instability And A Trump Presidency” I stated that:
"I believe a softer downturn will begin before the election (the U.S. presidential election) takes place, most likely starting in September. This will give a boost to the Trump campaign, or at least, that is what the polls will likely say. I would also watch for some banking officials and media pundits to blame this downturn on Trump’s rise in the polling data. The narrative will be that just the threat of a Trump presidency is “putting the markets on edge."

Afraid You’ll Be Forced To Work In Retirement? That May Not Be So Bad
Many older Americans who once dreamed of lounging around the house in retirement instead are waking up each morning to get ready for work.
A recent Pew Research Center study showed that the percentage of Americans 65 and over still employed is on the rise, having reached 18.8 percent as of May, up from 12.8 percent in 2000.
Depending on an individual’s situation, though, working past traditional retirement age may not be such a terrible thing.
“Some people say they keep working because they can’t afford to retire,” says John Eikenberry, president of Eikenberry Retirement Planning (www.EikenberryRetirement.com), a wealth-management firm. “Some people don’t want to retire because they love what they do.”
Eikenberry, 68, falls in the latter group. His keep-at-it attitude worked in his favor after a surgery in February.
“One of the people in the medical field told me that because I’m active that has helped me to rehab quickly,” Eikenberry says. “They said if I was retired, typically it takes longer to rehab.”
Some advantages of working in retirement include:
• Relief from financial stress. One of the biggest worries retirees have is running out of money, Eikenberry says. With people living longer, that’s a legitimate concern. Even just a part-time job that brings in a little extra cash can help alleviate some of the stress. He has clients who work just a few days a week and that works well for them, he says.
• Physical fitness. It’s no secret that, as people age, they tend to suffer more problems with their bodies, such as joint pains. Many jobs can keep them active and moving, making for better health.
• Mental fitness. A study published in the peer-reviewed journal Neurology this year found that activities that challenge your brain may help delay symptoms of dementia. “Talk to people in their 50s and 60s and you’ll see that does scare us,” Eikenberry says. “Work gives us the ability to keep our minds active.”
Anyone considering working in retirement does need to be aware of the financial implications with Social Security, Eikenberry says.
If you wait until your full retirement age to draw Social Security – 66 to 67 for most people these days – you can earn as much as you like.
But if you claim Social Security early – which you can do starting at age 62 – earnings are limited to $15,720 annually. For every $2 you make over that amount, $1 is deducted from your Social Security.
That changes beginning with the year in which you reach full retirement age. At that point, $1 is deducted for every $3 earned above a different limit. In 2016, that limit is $41,880. But the only earnings counted are those before the month in which you reach full retirement age, according to the Social Security website.
Eikenberry is happy with his decision to remain on the job beyond retirement age and many of the clients he provides financial advice to find it rewarding, too.
“For me, there’s nothing negative about working in retirement at all,” he says.

How To Watch The Market In Uncertain Election Times
With the presidential election dominating the news cycles, many investors may be keeping an eye on the stock market as well as the voting booth as they wonder what impact the election of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump could have on their portfolios.
“Presidential elections are almost always a big part of the greater theme of markets, but in this case even more so,” says Benjamin Lupu, a Certified Financial Planner and founder of Kensington AMI (www.KensingtonAMI.com), an asset-management firm.
Lupu says it’s important to understand that how voters weigh their Election Day choices and how the market views the candidates aren’t necessarily the same thing.
As hard as it might be, he says, investors should lay aside any personal political leanings as they assess what factors might keep the market humming and what factors might upset the market – and affect their investments in the process.
“From an investment standpoint, this isn’t about being for one candidate or the other,” Lupu says. “It’s a matter of trying to gauge what the markets might do depending on different scenarios, and trying to plan and respond accordingly.”
He says factors to consider include:
• The Clinton impact. What ever opinion people may have of Clinton, she represents status quo, continuity and predictability, which markets prefer, Lupu says. Markets in general have been buoyant in recent months as a decisive win for Clinton had been the consensus expectation and has been priced into the markets. Those expectations could change quickly, though, and investors would need to consider adjustments if they do. “Harsh reality may have something to say about this before the process is over, and any reversal in the polls can greatly upset markets,” he says.
• The Trump impact. Trump is extremely popular with his populist base in the U.S., and some people would consider a Trump victory good for business. The wild card, though, is that he’s immensely unpopular in much of the rest of the world, Lupu says. If the race is seen as close, or if Trump is considered to have a strong chance of winning, global markets could react negatively, at least initially. If the odds of a Trump win appear to be improving, it might be a good idea for investors to reduce exposure, stay partially in cash and see what transpires, Lupu says.
• A general approach. Financial security in the U.S. has traditionally come from three things: sound, long-term process; clear, unemotional thinking; and American optimism, Lupu says. “I like to say keep it clean, be disciplined and have faith in the future,” he says. In this case, that means be aware of market expectations, follow what happens, but stay focused and make prudent decisions based on facts and not emotions – or personal political preferences.
In any other presidential election year, Lupu says, he wouldn’t advocate keeping such a close watch on who’s ahead in the polls and the implications behind the poll numbers. But Clinton vs. Trump is far from the typical race.
“I admit this is not the usual playbook for election years,” Lupu says. “But then, this election is not the usual affair.”

Cokie Roberts: Dems 'Nervously Beginning to Whisper' About Hillary Replacement; Floats Biden as Possibility
Monday on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” ABC political commentator Cokie Roberts offered her thoughts on the apparent health issues regarding Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the how the party could be looking to handle things if a replacement is needed for Clinton.
According to Roberts, there was already conversation within the party about such a possibility.
“The fact that it comes now when the polls are tightening and Democrats are already saying that Hillary was the only candidate who could not beat Trump and it is taking her off of the campaign trail, canceling her trip to California – it has them very nervously beginning to whisper about having her step aside and finding another candidate.”
When asked if that really could happen, Roberts called it “unlikely to be a real thing,” but floated the name of Vice President Joe Biden as a possible replacement.
“I think it is unlikely to be a real thing,” she added. “And I’m sure it is an overreaction of an already skittish party. But you know, they have looked at what happens in that circumstance. The Democratic National Committee chair convenes the committee and they vote. Now ironically, the candidate who everybody looks at is Joe Biden, who is older than Hillary Clinton. But then again, so is Donald Trump and by the way we know nothing about his health.”
