In August, U.S. Customs and Border Protection had another record-shattering month at the Southwest border. 5,804 unaccompanied alien children and 9,359 members of family units crossing from Mexico unlawfully were captured by patrols. On average, about 1,195 illegal aliens were caught a day.
August’s apprehension totals surpassed the previous 2016 record set in the previous month, July. 12,570 were caught crossing the border.
As of now in 2016, CBP reports it’s caught 369,522 illegal alien border-crossers. This includes 54,052 unaccompanied alien children. About 67 percent of the total captures were single adults.
The number of unaccompanied illegal alien children who’ve crossed the border in 2016 is about 57 percent higher over the number that crossed during the first 11 months in 2015. However, the large number of family members who have crossed together in 2016 is nearly double those that crossed in the previous year in 2015. Essentially, immigration on various levels is increasing at near or over doubling rates since last year.
