College Newspaper Loses Thousands in Funding After Publishing Negative Black Lives Matter Op-Ed

A private liberal arts college’s student government unanimously decided to slash its student newspaper budget following intense controversy over an op-ed that was critical of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The opinion piece published in the Wesleyan Argus on Sept. 14 was titled, “Why Black Lives Matter Isn’t What You Think.” Within a few days, according to the author of the piece, ”all hell broke loose.” Hundreds of copies of the student newspaper were destroyed, anonymous social media apps buzzed with negativity directed at the paper and the author, and a petition circulated the campus demanding that the paper be defunded.

On Sunday, the Wesleyan Student Assembly Senate voted 27 to 0, with four people abstaining, to pass a resolution cutting the Argus’ funding by more than half and redistributes that money to other campus publications for paid worker positions and digital innovation. That funding would be allocated through measuring online data analytics and the student body’s vote.

Just look at the sheer numbers of top entrepreneurs, eclipsing the US for the first time in its history," Rupert Hoogewerf, Hurun Report chairman and chief researcher, said in the report. "The China Century seems to have started earlier than many expected, although it will be a few years more before China overtakes the US in terms of GDP."

The Chamber of Commerce is Bad for Republicans, Conservatism and America

Almost everything liberals say about conservatives isn’t true.
Rush Limbaugh isn’t angry, Sarah Palin isn’t dumb, the Tea Party movement isn’t racist and the idea of a war on women never made any sense to begin with, given how many prominent conservative women there are in the Republican Party. However, liberals are right about one thing. They’re right about the Chamber of Commerce, which has transformed from a solid conservative organization that looked out for mom and pop businesses into a pale imitation of the kind of “evil corporation” that you see in the movies. In fact, the Chamber goes wrong in the same place every evil corporation in the movies initially goes wrong: it puts profit before EVERYTHING else. It puts it before what’s good for conservatism, the Republican Party and it even puts it before what’s good for the country.

We are talking about an organization that has adopted the same philosophy as a bad guy in an Ayn Rand novel. The Chamber of Commerce may portray itself as the voice of small business in America, but in actuality it’s all about using the power of government to benefit big corporations. In fact, many of the stupidest things the Republican Party has done over the last few years have been driven by the Chamber of Commerce.

Once again, you can read it all here.

G Fund investments will stop Oct. 30 without debt ceiling deal

If Congress cannot agree to extend the debt limit by Oct. 30, the Treasury Department will have to resort to extraordinary measures, which includes suspending investments in federal workers’ retirement funds.

The Treasury will temporarily stop making investments in the Thrift Savings Plan’s G Fund and Exchange Stabilization Fund to milk the last of its reserves before it reaches the debt limit on Nov. 3, according to a new Congressional Budget Office projection.

Treasury also will suspend new securities and semiannual interest payments to the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund and the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund.

To be clear, these measures are standard operating procedure when the government starts getting claustrophobic as the debt ceiling approaches.

Secret Service to Protect Trump, Carson as Threats Grow

The Secret Service will give agent protection to Ben Carson and Donald Trump while heavily upgrading Hillary Clinton's existing detail, a Washington source close to the agency’s plans confirmed to Newsmax.

The deployment of agents around Republican candidates Trump and Carson is set to begin as early as next week. Approximately two dozen agents will be assigned to each candidate.

Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, has had Secret Service protection since leaving the White House as first lady in 2001, but her detail will be heavily upgraded by the agency’s move.

The agency's decision was primarily triggered by a significant number of threats to Carson, including death threats and terrorist chatter, the source said.

Davis Confirmed As Permanent Commissioner Amid Protests

Kevin Davis has been sworn in as Baltimore's permanent police commissioner by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Davis, the interim commissioner until the City Council voted to confirm him hours earlier, was met with cheers as he took his oath at a community meeting Monday evening.

Beforehand, Davis and Rawlings-Blake held a news conference to address an activists' protest that erupted after the vote. The protesters, some of whom were arrested after a sit-in at City Hall late last week, said they remained frustrated even after Davis met with them Sunday and agreed to 19 demands, including a policy for how police treat protesters.

Davis said he thought the meeting was "productive" and that he admired the commitment of the young activists.

Illinois Sixth-Graders Are Being Taught Islam Had Nothing To Do With 9/11 Attacks

You’ve got to be freaking kidding me! A parent in Swansea, Illinois got a nasty surprise when her 12 year-old daughter asked what a Koran was. She looked at the vocabulary list which included items such as: Jihad, Islam, Muslim, Allah, Mohammed, Caliph, Hergira (which in fact should be Hijrah), Mosque, Koran, Baghdad and Ayatollah. Because you know, that’s what I expect my kids to learn in school. How about you? I’d have my child out of that school so fast, the earth would shake. I don’t see them teaching about Jesus and the Crusades, but Mohammed… well, evidently that’s history. This is taking political correctness way too far.

From Gateway Pundit:

Local Muslims celebrate the deadly 9-11 attacks in Pakistan in 2011 as they do every year.

A Swansea school is teaching 12 year-old kids that Islam had nothing to do with the 9-11 attacks.

The school wants to emphasize tolerance.

The Belleville News Democrat reported:

Rachel Seger’s daughter “adores” her history teacher and “loves” the class at High Mount School in Swansea, but Seger didn’t like the 12-year-old’s homework of vocabulary words on Thursday night.

“She said, ‘What’s Koran mean?’ and I flipped,” Seger said. “I said, ‘Excuse me?’ and I looked at them, and I said oh my God.”

The vocabulary words included jihad, Islam, Muslim, Arabia, Muhammad, Allah, hegira, mosque, Koran and Baghdad.

“Some of these words, I don’t even know what they are: Ayatollah, caliph,” said Seger, who was shocked that the history class would step so close to teaching religion. “I don’t want her learning other faiths from school. If it would have just stopped at ‘this is their culture, this is where they go to church,’ fine. But when you get into the actual aspect of it, that’s where I’m drawing the line. That’s just going a little too far.”

Jim Munden, a sixth-grade history teacher at High Mount, would not comment other than to say the issue had been resolved with the family.

Texas Defunds Planned Parenthood, Alleges Clinics Unsafe, Unsanitary

Those affiliates are potentially “liable, directly or by affiliation, for a series of serious Medicaid program violations” highlighted by the videos, the five-page letter read, alleging Planned Parenthood unlawfully alters the timing or method of abortions to harvest desirable tissue from aborted fetuses.

Combined Police Effort In Wicomico Co. Results In Arrest Of Heroin Dealer After Interstate Pursuit

October 20, 2015

(SALISBURY, MD) – A combined law enforcement effort in Wicomico County led to the arrest yesterday of a suspect believed to be involved in the distribution of heroin in the region and the recovery of more than 500 bags of heroin packaged for street sales.

The suspect is identified as Paul D. Jenkins, 35, of Harrington, Delaware. After consultation with the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office, Jenkins was charged with five counts of first degree assault, five counts of second degree assault, possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with 10 traffic offenses, including failing to stop at a property damage accident, failing to stop at a red light, failing to stop at a stop sign, unsafe passing on the shoulder, and speeding.

A cooperative investigation between the Eastern Shore Gang Enforcement Unit and the Salisbury Police Department, with assistance from the Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force, designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit, led to the identification of Jenkins as a suspect in heroin distribution in the region. Information was developed by investigators indicating Jenkins would be transporting heroin yesterday in the Salisbury area.

A Cancer Drug Shows Promise In Reversing Parkinson's Disease, Dementia

A drug that's already approved for treating leukemia appears to dramatically reduce symptoms in people who have Parkinson's disease with dementia, or a related condition called Lewy body dementia.

A pilot study of 12 patients given small doses of nilotinib found that movement and mental function improved in all of the 11 people who completed the six-month trial, researchers reported Saturday at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in Chicago.

And for several patients the improvements were dramatic, says Fernando Pagan, an author of the study and director of the Movement Disorders Program at Georgetown University Medical Center. One woman regained the ability to feed herself, one man was able to stop using a walker, and three previously nonverbal patients began speaking again, Pagan says.

"After 25 years in Parkinson's disease research, this is the most excited I've ever been," Pagan says.

Smoking Gun Memo Changes Context of Middle East

Smoking gun emails reveal Blair's 'deal in blood' with George Bush over Iraq war was forged a YEAR before the invasion had even started. Leaked White House memo shows former Prime Minister's support for war at summit with U.S. President in 2002. Bombshell document shows Blair preparing to act as spin doctor for Bush, who was told 'the UK will follow our lead.' Publicly, Blair still claimed to be looking for diplomatic solution – in direct contrast to email revelations. New light was shed on Bush-Blair relations by material disclosed by Hillary Clinton at the order of the U.S. courts. – Daily Mail

Dominant Social Theme: Public servants rarely lie.

Free-Market Analysis: So it is all coming out now ... the deliberate, cold-blooded planning to create a war with Iraq no matter the consequences. The evidence is contained in communications from then US Secretary of State Colin Powell to President George W Bush.

Just released – apparently as part of a court-mandated data-dump of Hillary Clinton's emails – one memo notes that Blair "will be with us" if the US made war in the Middle East, and that Blair would follow the lead of Bush and the Pentagon.

In Britain, where the public turned against Tony Blair long ago, the revelations are complicating the endless dithering of the Chilcot inquiry that is supposed to clarify Britain's role in the Iraq war.

From this standpoint, the memo is indeed an important one. It seems to confirm suspicions that Blair himself was determined to bring Britain into the war and confirmed to Bush that he would do what was necessary to support US actions.

Even worse, according to the UK Telegraph, "The briefing also suggested the then British Prime Minister would effectively act as a front man for the arguments for war in return for being promoted on the international stage by America."

This is surely a charge of the gravest sort and something that should terrify Tony Blair. It accuses him of trading the blood of British soldiers for personal aggrandizement advanced by the power of the Bush administration.

Emails reveal Tony Blair's deal with George Bush over Iraq war was forged before invasion started

A bombshell White House memo has revealed for the first time details of the ‘deal in blood’ forged by Tony Blair and George Bush over the Iraq War.

The sensational leak shows that Blair had given an unqualified pledge to sign up to the conflict a year before the invasion started.

It flies in the face of the Prime Minister’s public claims at the time that he was seeking a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

He told voters: ‘We’re not proposing military action’ – in direct contrast to what the secret email now reveals.

Moving Toward A One World Government, A One World Economy And A One World Religion

From September 25th to September 27th, the United Nations launched a “new universal agenda” for humanity

The global elite have never been closer to their goal of a united world.

Thanks to a series of interlocking treaties and international agreements, the governance of this planet is increasingly becoming globalized and centralized, but most people don’t seem alarmed by this at all. In the past 30 days, we have seen some of the biggest steps toward a one world government, a one world economy and a one world religion that we have ever witnessed, but these events have sparked very little public discussion or debate. So please share this article with as many people as you can. We need to wake people up about this before it is too late.

From September 25th to September 27th, the United Nations launched a “new universal agenda” for humanity. Those are not my words, they actually come directly out of the core document for this new agenda. The Pope traveled to New York City to give the address that kicked off this conference, thus giving his considerable endorsement to this new plan. Virtually every nation on the entire planet willingly signed up for the 17 goals that are included in this plan, but this stunning turn of events made very few international headlines.

CAN YOU HELP HONOR LOCAL VETERANS AT COASTAL HOSPICE?

Coastal Hospice

Coastal Hospice is asking the community for donations of patriotic-themed lap blankets for our veteran patients. In this photo, Navy veteran and Coastal Hospice patient Charles “Dick” Rohm of Powellville smiles under a fleece flag-themed blanket we brought to his home.

We plan to start giving these blankets to veteran patients in the four Lower Shore counties on Nov. 11, Veteran’s Day. We will continue to use them throughout the year as veterans enter our care, making every day Veterans’s Day for our veteran patients.

Red/white/blue designs, stars and stripes, etc. are some suggested themes. Most appropriate are knitted, crocheted, quilted or fleece lap blankets. The blankets must be new, and can be either handmade or purchased. The ideal size is approximately 36x42 inches. There is also a continuing need for non-patriotic blankets for hospice patients.

Donations are being accepted during regular business hours at the Coastal Hospice main office at 2604 Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury or at Coastal Hospice at the Ocean at 10441 Racetrack Road, Taylorville Center, in Berlin.

More information is available from Elaine Bean, Coastal Hospice community relations manager, at 410-742-8732.

Teenagers just learned what happens when you start a business in America

When I was a teenager, it was pretty common for young people in my lower-middle class neighborhood to find work.

I was a waiter myself… though probably one of the worst in history, as I may still hold the record at Tippin’s Restaurant and Pie Pantry for the most cups of coffee spilled on patrons.

A lot of other kids would do odd jobs like cutting the grass and whatnot. And some of them were pretty successful at it.

I remember two kids in my class, Ryan and Will, had a very successful lawn mowing partnership.

One of the reasons they did so well was because they realized how much more efficient and profitable they could be if they could maximize the number of clients within a single neighborhood.

Instead of wasting time driving around from neighborhood to neighborhood, they could focus on servicing as many yards as possible within a few blocks.

This was an extremely important lesson for them… and one they would never learn in school.

It’s obvious that doing things like this provides incredible and in many cases life-changing lessons for kids.

It’s the whole idea of having the freedom to start something from scratch out of your own sweat and labor, to provide a valuable service and to work hard, and stake your reputation on the quality of what you do.

This concept is at the very foundation of the American Dream. Or at least it used to be.

Case in point, last week, two teenagers in New Jersey were going around their neighborhood advertising their snow-shoveling service right before the big storm hit.

Biographer: Hillary Cackling about Email Scandal ‘Is What Makes Her So Darn Unlikeable’

Hillary Clinton biographer Ed Klein said Clinton’s bizarre cackling when asked about her email scandal last Friday on CNN proves that she has a “distorted sense of reality” and is what makes her “so darn unlikeable.”

On Breitbart News Sunday, Klein told guest-host and Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 that a person who has given the Clintons advice for the better part of three decades has told Hillary “time and time again” that “you gotta take this seriously—don’t make a joke of it.” Klein said Hillary has ignored the advice and “has made a joke of it time and time again.”

“That cackle is an example of her arrogance and her belief that she can get away with things that nobody else can,” he said. “It is what makes her so darn unlikeable.”

Klein latest book on Hillary is Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary, and he added that Hillary’s cackle “should freak you out” because “it says something about her character and psychology.”

IAEA Probe Into Iran’s Weaponization Activities Doesn't Matter

As the U.S., Iran and others mark the formal start of the Iran nuclear agreement, Obama administration officials have confirmed that the findings of a separate but related investigation by the U.N. nuclear watchdog into Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons activity will have no bearing on the deal moving ahead.

Sunday marks the formal start – “adoption day” – of the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA): Iran is due to begin taking the steps it has agreed to on limiting its nuclear activities, and the U.S. and European Union will start preparations to lift sanctions, including the issuing of sanctions waivers.

Actual sanctions relief is scheduled to take place only at the next JCPOA milestone, “implementation day,” when the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) verifies that Iran has completed the steps laid out in the deal. (How long it takes to reach implementation day” depends on the speed at which the Iranians carry out those actions, but officials in Tehran have spoken about getting there by year’s end.)

Separately, the IAEA is expected to report by December 15 on its probe into the “possible military dimensions” (PMDs) of Iran’s nuclear program. The agency said last week Iran had met an Oct. 15 deadline to provide the data necessary for it to wrap up the PMD investigation.

Senior administration officials briefing reporters on background at the weekend confirmed that the agency’s findings in the separate PMD investigation will not play a part in the lifting of sanctions.

China Still Tries to Hack US Firms Despite Obama Pact

Hackers associated with the Chinese government have tried to hack at least seven U.S. companies in the three weeks since Washington and Beijing agreed not to spy on each other for commercial reasons, according to a prominent U.S. security firm.

CrowdStrike Inc said software it placed at five U.S. technology and two pharmaceutical companies had detected and rebuffed the attacks, which began on Sept. 26.

On Sept. 25, President Barack Obama said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed that neither government would knowingly support cyber theft of corporate secrets to support domestic businesses. The agreement stopped short of restricting spying to obtain government secrets, including those held by private contractors.

CrowdStrike Co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch said in an interview that he believed the hackers who attacked the seven companies were affiliated with the Chinese government based in part on the servers and software they used.

Bigger bite for health law penalty on uninsured

WASHINGTON (AP) — The math is harsh: The federal penalty for having no health insurance is set to jump to $695, and the Obama administration is being urged to highlight that cold fact to help drive its new pitch for health law sign-ups.

That means the 2016 sign-up season starting Nov. 1 could see penalties become a bigger focus to motivate millions of people who have remained eligible for coverage, but uninsured. They're said to be more skeptical about the value of health insurance.

Until now, health overhaul supporters have stressed the benefits of getting covered: taxpayer subsidies that pay roughly 70 percent of the monthly premium, financial protection against sudden illness or an accident, and access to regular preventive and follow-up medical care.

But in 2016, the penalty for being uninsured will rise to the greater of either — $695 or 2.5 percent of taxable income — for someone who goes without coverage for a full 12 months. This year the comparable numbers are $325 or 2 percent of income. While the increase isn't good news, it does create a marketing opportunity.

The numbers are pretty clear. With subsidized customers now putting in an average of about $100 a month of their own money, a consumer would be able to get six months or more of coverage for $695, instead of owing that amount to the IRS as a tax penalty. Backers of the law are urging the administration to hammer that home.

‘Clock Kid’ Ahmed Mohamed Visits White House, Meets Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) — Ahmed Mohamed, the Texas teenager arrested after a homemade clock he brought to school was mistaken for a bomb, capped a whirlwind month with a visit to the White House on Monday.

Ahmed got a personal invitation from President Barack Obama for “Astronomy Night.” The two met and chatted briefly during Monday night’s event.

Earlier Monday, Ahmed said he was grateful for the president’s support and said he’s OK with the nickname that so many have given him over the past few weeks — “clock kid.”

He said the lesson of his experience is: “Don’t judge a person by the way they look. Always judge them by their heart.”

Last month, Ahmed brought the clock to his school to show a teacher, but another teacher thought it could be a bomb. The school contacted police, who ultimately chose not to charge Ahmed with having a hoax bomb, though he was suspended from school.

A Viewer Writes: IRS Scam

Hi Joe.

Just wanted to post something on you site as a warning to your readers. I had a message on my home phone Friday that said the IRS was bringing a law suit against me. Now I know this is not the way the IRS operates. But there may be people who could be duped by this. The message says to call back at 509-790-0609 to discuss this, so being the adventuresome type that I am, I called the number. They asked for the phone number that I had been contacted on, and then asked for me by name. They started on this spiel of my accounts and assets would be seized...yada yada.

So after about 10 to 15 seconds of this I said,"You know, this is a stinking load of (insert well-known expletive for excrement). The IRS doesn't contact people this way. By the time I got to the word contact they hung up. Just wanted to pass this on. Its definitely a scam.

Full-Fat Foods are Better For You
