According to court records, billionaire progressive darling George Soros was quite literally punched in the head by his ex-girlfriend, Brazilian soap opera actress named Adriana Ferreyr, during a Manhattan deposition last week. Ferreyr also hit at least three other people. Needless to say, Glenn had a little bit of fun with the story on radio this morning.
“Do we have any sad music, Pat? We need some sad music because… I don’t even know where to begin on this,” Glenn said. “You know how much I love George Soros, right? We’re like, mmm. Soap opera actress punches ex-boyfriend George Soros in the face. That’s the headline.”

The Average Joe
Joe,
My uncle shared this on FB this morning and I liked it so much that I thought that you might like to share it with your readers. It is a newspaper clip from 1949 regarding a prayer that had apparently been read right before an adjournment of Congress about entitlements. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.

Anti-Bullying Advocate Ray Rice Arrested After Physical Altercation With Woman In Atlantic City
As if the regular season wasn’t disappointing enough, Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested over the weekend in an Atlantic City casino after a physical altercation with a woman. The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reports that Rice and his fiance were charged after what he described as allegations of a ‘very minor physical altercation’.
According to Ravens director of public relations Chad Steele: “We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
Michael Diamondstein, a Philadelphia-based attorney, has been hired to represent Rice.
“We haven’t seen any charging documents yet,” Diamondstein said. “There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet.”
“Once we’re able to go through the evidence, it should wind up to be little more than a misunderstanding,” Diamondstein said.

Judge Finds St. Louis, MO's Red Light Camera Ordinance Invalid, Orders Halt Of Ticket Enforcement
Another red light camera company is in trouble, this time in St. Louis, MO, where a judge has just invalidated the city's red light camera ordinance. American Traffic Solutions (whose legal issues we've detailed here previously) has just had its camera system kicked to the curb as a result of some questionable moves it made during a recent lawsuit.
A St. Louis judge issued an order Tuesday that invalidates the city's red-light camera ordinance.
Circuit Judge Steven Ohmer wrote in the order that the city is prohibited from attempting to enforce the ordinance, sending violation notices, processing payments or sending collection letters relating to the tickets.
So what prompted Ohmer to shut down the system? Well, the tickets that were central to the case, which were over a year old at the point of the suit's filing, were dismissed almost immediately after the lawsuit was filed. Why the sudden show of largesse?
Those named in the suit — including the city, Mayor Francis Slay, Police Chief Sam Dotson and American Traffic Solutions Inc., which operates the cameras — had argued to dismiss it. Some of the defendants said the claims were moot because the tickets had been dismissed and that the petitioners lacked standing because they were not hurt by the ordinance.

‘I Am Not a Sexist’: Racing Legend Stands By Danica Patrick Verbal Swipe
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Richard Petty stood by his comments that Danica Patrick can’t win a Cup race and the Hall of Famer says it’s unfair he has been labeled a sexist.
Petty said last week the only way Patrick could win a Sprint Cup race was “if everybody else stayed home.”
Speaking Saturday at Daytona International Speedway, Petty says no one would make a fuss about his remarks if he was talking about a male driver.

Check Out Black Mobs Terrorize Victoria’s Secret Shoppers
'It wouldn't be Valentine's Day if someone didn't get shot'
Some were surprised to hear about the black mob violence on Valentine’s Day at Victoria’s Secret in Norfolk, Va.
Not at the violence: The Galleria at Military Circle has been the site of dozens of episodes of racial lawlessness over the last two years, most of which has gone unreported in the local newspaper.
The surprise is that this mall is still open. Most of its major tenants are gone or leaving – Sears, J.C. Penney’s, the nearby DoubleTree also closed. The big draw there now is a movie theater with cheap tickets.
More than 25 percent of the space is vacant. DeadMalls.com says the mall is a “zombie” that is really dead but just acts alive.
The latest example of black mob violence at the mall came on Valentine’s Day. A large group of people fought in the Victoria’s Secret store. One guy pulled out a gun and shot someone in the leg.
In urban lingo, shooting someone in the leg is called “leg warming.” It is often a warning about cooperating with police or selling drugs in someone’s else’s territory or even refusing to give someone a pit bull puppy.
The victim’s aunt told a different story to WAVY- TV:

Meet Judge Arenda Wright Allen, Who Struck Down Virginia’s Ban On Same-Sex Marriage
The federal judge who struck down Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage Thursday is an appointee of President Obama and in 2011 became the first black woman appointed as a federal District Court judge in Virginia.
Arenda Wright Allen, born in 1960, is a Philadelphia native who spent decades as a government lawyer: first for the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, then as a federal prosecutor, and finally as a public defender. She is married to a retired pro soccer player from Jamaica and has two children — one of them named for musician Yanni.
When Wright Allen testified about her career before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she brought her pastor with her, from the 300-year-old First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. Next to her husband, Wright Allen said, the Rev. Jim Wood was “probably the closest man in my life.”

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Under fire from the tea party for his part in allowing a senate vote to raise the nation's debt ceiling, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday he had to act in the best interests of the country to avoid default by the United States.

Here’s the U.S. Army’s $96 Million, 300-Acre Fake City in Va. — Complete with Subway Station, Football Stadium, and Mosque — for Terrorism Combat Training
The U.S. army has constructed an elaborate fake city designed for terrorism combat training, noted the Telegraph, spanning 300 acres and including a five-story embassy, a bank, a school, an underground subway and train station, a mosque, a football stadium, and a helicopter landing zone.
Located in Fort A.P. Hill, Va., according to the Fredricksburg Free Lance-Star, which is just under an hour north of Richmond, the facility includes bridges and other other structures that can be adapted for specific purposes and scenarios.
The Army’s Army Asymmetric Warfare Group opened the training center last month, the Telegraph said. The AAWG was created in 2004 to help combat terrorism and deal more effectively with emerging threats.

Democrats Seek To Turn Stand On Issues Into Votes
CAMBRIDGE (AP) — Congressional Democrats held a retreat this week seeking inspiration. But they left as befuddled as ever by an America that arguably likes their issues but not always the party.
This fall's elections seem likely to leave Democrats in the House minority, and may rob them of their Senate majority. Republicans hope to gain six net seats to control the Senate.
At a three-day retreat by the Chesapeake Bay, House Democrats struggled to explain this political landscape while also insisting the public supports their agenda on immigration, income, women's rights and other priorities. Friday pep talks by President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden did little to solve the riddle.

The True State Of The Economy: Record Number Of College Graduates Live In Their Parents' Basement
Scratch one more bullish thesis for the housing recovery, and the economic recovery in general.
Over the past several years, optimists had often cited household formation as a key component of pent up demand for home purchases. So much for that.
Recall that last August, the WSJ noted that in a report on the status of families, "the Census Bureau said 13.6% of Americans ages 25 to 34 were living with their parents in 2012, up slightly from 13.4% in 2011.Though the trend began before the recession, it accelerated sharply during the downturn. In the early 2000s, about 10% of people in this age group lived at home." It concluded, quite logically, that "the share of young adults living with their parents edged up last year despite improvements in the economy—a sign that the effects of the recession are lingering."

High Rate Of Approval For ‘Dreamers’ Vexes Critics Of Immigration Reform
The test run for immigration legalization — the 2012 program to grant tentative legal status to young illegal immigrants — has exposed some serious problems that likely would need to be solved if Congress approves a broad immigration reform bill creating a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 12 million in the country illegally.
From exceptionally high approval rates — 97 percent of all applicants have been given legal status — to accusations that the government gave the illegal immigrants’ applications priority over those of legal immigrants, the trial run shows some of the difficulties in administering any legalization.
For young immigrants who have obtained legal status, it has been a boon. They have gained work permits and are able to access some privileges such as obtaining driver’s licenses.

The US Participation Rate Is At A 35 Year Low: This Is How It Looks Broken Down By State
After years of being roundly ignored by the mainstream media, and certainly by self-important economists, the issue of labor force participation is suddenly up front and center, especially now that the Fed itself finds itself scrambling to explain the humiliation of hitting its 6.5% unemployment "forward guidance" threshold without proceeding to tighten as it said it would initially when it launched QEternity in December 2012.
Incidentally, we predicted precisely this when we said in December 2012 that "using a simple forecast, based on LTM trends across all key employment metrics reveals something very troubling, for the Fed and stocks that is: the 6.5% unemployment rate will be breached in July 2013! Now granted that is simply idiotic, and there is no way that the US economy could possibly recover that fast, but that is precisely what is implied based on the ongoing collapse in the Labor Force Participation, and the concurrent plunge in the Labor Force Participation rate, which has been the biggest marginal driver for the unemployment rate, far more than the number of people who have jobs, or are unemployed (readers can recreate our calculation on their own in 10 minutes with excel)."
Granted, we were off by six months, but we were spot on about the reason why the unemployment threshold number was hit so quickly, instead of as the Fed has originally predicted, some time in 2015/2016.

Biden: Be Optimistic On State Of The Nation ‘In Spite Of Who’s President’
(CNSNews.com) -Vice President Joe Biden told fellow Democrats they should be optimistic about the state of the nation, “in spite of who’s president.”
Biden was addressing the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference in Cambridge, Md. on Friday when he discussed why he feels positive about America and the upcoming mid-term elections.
“It always surprises me when we don’t have the degree of optimism that we should about the state of the nation," Biden said. "And in spite of who’s president, in spite of who’s in the Congress, the American people are so much stronger, so much more resilient, so much more capable, that even the ridiculous policies of our friends on the right cannot keep them from moving forward.”

Obama's Valentine's Day Bachelor Golf Holiday Marks 23rd Vacation
America, you know how to treat a president and his family.
With another Presidents' Day bachelor holiday planned by President Obama, this time golfing in California, and Aspen, Colo., resort reporters on the lookout for the annual first lady ski trip this weekend, the taxpayer's tab for the first family's vacations has topped $2.4 million.
But that's just the start. That total is just from the skimpy documents detailing travel and security expenses obtained by the public watchdog group Judicial Watch from a handful of first family vacations.
When all of the reporting of the first family’s 22 vacations so far to Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard, Spain, Colorado, Florida, Africa and elsewhere is added up, the estimate reaches over $18 million when hotel and resort rent, security hotel and car rentals, and airfare are included.

Goodbye, Eric Holder?
Embattled Attorney General Eric Holder told the New Yorkermagazine he plans to step down from his post later this year, but a Holder spokesman now denies he made any such commitment.
It’s just another confusing day in the increasingly chaotic Obama administration, where, as the president’s approval ratings continue to fall, the left hand never quite seems to know what the extreme-left hand is doing.

It’s just another confusing day in the increasingly chaotic Obama administration, where, as the president’s approval ratings continue to fall, the left hand never quite seems to know what the extreme-left hand is doing.
In an interview that appears in theNew Yorker’s Feb. 17 issue, Holder told Jeffrey Toobin that he intends to remain in his position “well into” the year. Holder “told me that he will leave office sometime this year,” Toobin writes in the feature article.

Rice Arrested After Incident In Atlantic City
Police in Atlantic City say Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested at a casino there after an argument with his fiance turned physical.
Atlantic City police said that Rice and Janay Palmer were both arrested on simple assault charges and were released on a summons after an incident at the Revel Casino early Saturday morning.
Both Rice and Palmer declined medical attention and neither reported any injuries.
Michael Diamondstein, an attorney for Rice, says that he's hopeful that after an investigation "the matter turns out to be little more than a misunderstanding."

A Doctor’s Oath
Government may be poised to mandate that all doctors participate in Obamacare.
For me and many other doctors like me, taking care of you has never been about the money. I have always considered it an honor and a privilege to be allowed personal entrance into the private world of your mind and your body. It is very satisfying for me to be able to offer my medical knowledge and experience to help you, my patient. This is why no matter how much or how little you or your insurance company pay me to see you, I will continue to do so. I will not abandon you because the reimbursement I get for your office visit is constantly diminishing or because I will soon get a bundled or quality-of-care payment rather than a fee for the service. No matter what the insurance scheme, I will struggle to lower office overhead to compensate for continued loss of income.
But Obamacare may not allow me to continue taking care of you, no matter how altruistic I am. The real problem with Obamacare’s narrow networks on the state exchanges is not doctors like me dropping out; it is insurers deciding not to add us to their new networks in the first place. Don’t get me wrong. No doctor in his or her right mind is eager to accept the reduced fees that Obamacare offers, and there is every reason to believe that the new policies will cut our reimbursements to the bone. But the reason that I don’t participate in the individual market’s GHI, HIP, or Empire Blue Cross plans is that these insurers have decided not to include my university’s network of doctors.

This Financial Collapse Will Be Catastrophic
Today David Stockman stunned when he warned King World News that the Fed’s massive trading room “is a weapon of financial mass destruction.” Stockman also warned about the enormous danger of the Fed’s continued interventions in major markets. KWN takes Stockman’s warning very seriously because he is the man former President Reagan called on in 1981, during that crisis, to become Director of the Office of Management and Budget and help save the United States from collapse. Below is what Stockman had to say in part I of a series of powerful interviews that will be released today.
Eric King: “The Fed and the massive trading room where they are managing these markets, are they going to eventually get overrun and it’s going to be a horror show even in that trading room, where there’s nothing left they can do, no levers to pull as everything comes unwound?”
Stockman: “That trading room is a weapon of financial mass destruction. That’s the point that people need to understand. The people running the Fed today have no clue of the danger that they are creating through this massive market intervention and manipulation....

10 Prison Security Techniques Being Implemented On The American People
Americans are not typically aware of how their federal and state prison systems work. What we think we know, we learned from watching television. When I took my first walk through at FCI (Federal Correctional Institution) El Reno Oklahoma as a new employee, I was surprised at how non-Hollywood real prison life is. Frankly, all I knew about prison life was what I saw on television or at the movies. Not even close.
As I got closer to retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), it began to dawn on me that the security practices we used in the prison system were being implemented outside those walls. “Free worlders” is prison slang for the non-incarcerated who reside in the “free world.” In this article I am going to compare a number of practices used in federal prisons to those being used today in the “free world.”
You might find that our country may be one giant correctional institution.

America’s Ridiculously Large $16 Trillion Economy
The map was created by matching economic output in US states in 2012 to foreign countries with comparable GDPs, using BEA data for GDP by state here and GDP by country from the United Nations, via Wikipedia here. For each US state (and the District of Columbia), I tried to find the country closest in economic size in 2012 (measured by GDP), and for each state there was a country with a pretty close match – those countries are displayed in the map above and in the table below. Obviously, in some cases the closest match was a country that produced slightly more, or slightly less economic output in 2012 than a given US state.
It’s pretty amazing how ridiculously large the US economy is, and the map above helps put America’s GDP of $16.2 trillion in 2012 (and more than $17 trillion in Q4 2013) into perspective by comparing the GDP of US states to other country’s entire national GDP. For example:

Tea Party Still Needed To Prevent GOP Lurch Toward Big Government
On Oct. 20, 1998, eager to avoid another government shutdown weeks before midterm elections, then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich acceded to President Clinton's demands by pushing a 40-pound, 16-inch thick, 3,825-page, pork-laden spending bill through the Republican-controlled chamber.
At the time, the Associated Press reported, “Gingrich lectured his own party's conservatives, labeling them 'the perfectionist caucus' ” for demanding a tougher stand against Clinton.
It was four years earlier that Republicans had taken over control of Congress, storming into Washington on a pledge to shrink the size and scope of government. In the winter of 1995-96, the failure of Clinton and the Republican Congress to reach a budget agreement triggeredgovernment shutdowns.

Napolitano: Impeachment Only Way to Stop Obama's Executive Actions
The only way to stop President Barack Obama from nullifying duly enacted laws is impeachment, says Judge Andrew Napolitano. The problem is, neither Congress nor the American public have the guts for it.
"The president is doing the opposite of what he was elected to do," Napolitano said Thursday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto." Napolitano is a former New Jersey Superior Court judge and a Fox News legal analyst.

A Presidents' Day Reminder Of Why We Must Fight
What if they had given up?
It is coincidental that I was inspired to write a commentary about not giving up on Presidents Day, which remembers George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. If either of them had given up during the toughest times of their presidencies, then we would not be here today. And where we are, just to be clear, is standing as a free nation united, but losing our freedoms and becoming more divided every day.
The good news is that the fat lady has not sung. (A note for our hypersensitive friends: This is a metaphor referring to how some operas end their grand finale, and is not as an insult to fat ladies. In fact, the reason they are singing the finale is that they must be one of the best singers in the cast.)
Stated another way, and paraphrasing a popular biblical passage, "As for me and my house, we will fight." My house refers to everybody who is not ready to surrender to the political class.

Obamacare Woes Pit Democrats Against Democrats In Liberal States
Glitches in states hit incumbents
The Obamacare rollout has gone so badly in some liberal-leaning states that it has turned into an issue in Democratic primaries, where incumbents are under attack for botching the enrollment period that began in October.
Some of those states were eager, early cheerleaders for the Affordable Care Act, making their failures all the more stark.

Moving Is Never Fun Or Easy
Who would have ever thought we would have seen SNOW on Saturday. Between the wind, the cold and snowy conditions, we spent the weekend taking years of furnishings out of 300 W. Main Street as we have received word there will be a closing on the sale of my old building Downtown.
A neighbor asked how I felt about selling the building and quite frankly it actually caught me off guard. I replied, It's bitter sweet. I'm very excited for the buyers as they will create an incredible Wine Bar Restaurant downstairs and yesterday I came to learn they are actually planning on moving into the building as their main residence. Now that's exciting!
There is more space in that building than most people realize and IF I had my way and I didn't have so many animals and vehicles, believe me, I would have pushed to make the entire building our main residence as well. So in a sense I'm a bit jealous.
Spending all the years I did living in New York City, I love the City Life. I can sleep right through sirens and loud people making noise down below. To me it's like a Grandfather Clock. Over time you simply stop hearing the chime.
Nevertheless, the majority of my things we want to take with us are out and we're all working together to complete the sale in the very near future.
It was a great time Salisbury. For now I'll sit on the outside looking in and see where the elected officials take what could be one of the greatest Cities in Maryland.
A Letter To The Editor 2-17-14
If passed this Bill will allow predators and perverts special access to vulnerable women and children. This Bill is called Fairness for All Marylanders Act of 2014 and disguised with the warm and fuzzy buzzword "Fairness" that is being used by corrupt Democrats in their language to get bills passed. This is how they gain more Democrat voters.
SB 212 will be voted on in the Maryland Senate this Thursday. If you have not yet called every Senator DO IT NOW. Once it is LAW, we can't do anything to protect the most vulnerable, the children and women from sexual predators who will use this law to dress as women and go into once what was private areas with little girls, boys and women to harm them. See the list below to call.
The Maryland Senate Bill 212 if passed, will open the doors to male sexual predators to don women’s clothing to gain access to public girls and women's restrooms, showers, locker rooms, dressing rooms and dorms to commit sex crimes on the most vulnerable.
Tell these 11 Senators to vote NO to SB 212 because it will open the doors to Sexual predators to come into private areas for women and children to do harm to them and that this is not a bill to protect REAL TRANSGENDERS and they should give serious consideration to the responsibility in the passing of such a dangerous law.

Monday afternoon's hearing had been rescheduled from last Thursday, due to the snow storm.
