Hungarian Govt Outlines ‘Stop Soros’ Legislation Criminalising NGOs Which Aid and Abet Illegal Migrants

The Hungarian government has outlined its ‘Stop Soros’ legislative package, which will punish NGOs and activists facilitating illegal immigration.

George Soros is considered one of the main drivers of mass migration by Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán, with the billionaire financier accused of lobbying the European Union to open its borders and funding ‘civil society’ organisations which help illegal migrants to infiltrate the bloc.

“The new ‘Stop Soros’ legislative package puts forth a more rigorous response by declaring illegal immigration a grave threat to Hungary’s national security,” announced government spokesman Zoltán Kovács.

“Anyone involved in aiding or abetting illegal migration would be committing a criminal offence.”

BOMBSHELL: Leaker, Liar and Former FBI Head Comey Likely Caught in Another Lie – FBI Russia Investigation Started Before July 2016

Another Internet sleuth has uncovered another bombshell surrounding the fake Trump-Russia investigation. Leaker, liar and former FBI Director James Comey stated that the investigation started in July of 2016, but evidence found in the public domain proves that the investigation started much earlier.

Manny at Politics Central released a post this weekend that shows information that corrupt Comey apparently lied again.

According to far left Politico, Comey stated in March of 2017 under oath that the FBI investigation into the Trump – Russia scandal started in July 2016 –

FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers Monday that his agency has been investigating possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian officials since last July [2016].

Clapper: The U.S. Meddled In Foreign Elections And Conducted Regime Change In The "Best Interests Of The People"

Former head of US Intelligence James Clapper just admitted that the United States was simply looking out for citizens of various countries "when we tried to manipulate or influence elections or even overturned governments," a statement directly at odds with the moral high ground claimed by President Obama and other US officials on the topic of Russian election meddling.

In an interview with Bloomberg's Tobin Harshaw published Saturday, Clapper - who is promoting his new book "Facts and Fears," said "I guess the way I think about that is that through our history, when we tried to manipulate or influence elections or even overturned governments, it was done with the best interests of the people in that country in mind,’ adding that the US has a “traditional reverence for human rights.”

According to a February 2016 report by Dov H. Levin, the United States has engaged in over 80 instances of election meddling or regime change between 1946 and 2000, while a February analysis by the New York Times notes that election meddling is hardly unprecedented.

“If you ask an intelligence officer, did the Russians break the rules or do something bizarre, the answer is no, not at all,” said Steven L. Hall, who retired in 2015 after 30 years at the C.I.A., where he was the chief of Russian operations. The United States “absolutely” has carried out such election influence operations historically, he said, “and I hope we keep doing it.”

War Erupts Between Italy's Government And Soros: "You Profited From The Death Of Hundreds Of People"

A feud has broken out between liberal billionaire activist and fervent Clinton supporter, George Soros, and Italy's anti-immigrant League party, which on Friday formed a populist movement in coalition with the 5-Star party, and whose leader Matteo Salvini stepped into his new job as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior on Friday, pledging to deport hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants.

Salvini's League and the 5-Star Movement struck a deal Thursday on a coalition government which will work towards "putting Italians first" (and potentially making life for Europe a living hell with the ongoing threat of Quitaly, which according to JPMorgan may be Rome's best outcome), ending five days of market volatility and political chaos.

In response, George Soros flipped out, openly suggesting that Salvini might be financed by Vladimir Putin, saying he is "very worried about Russia's influence on Europe in general and on the new Italian government."

Breaking News: Facebook has given at least four Chinese companies access to user data. One has been flagged by U.S. intelligence as a security threat.

Facebook has data-sharing partnerships with at least four Chinese electronics companies, including a manufacturing giant that has a close relationship with China’s government, the social media company said on Tuesday.

The agreements, which date to at least 2010, gave private access to some user data to Huawei, a telecommunications equipment company that has been flagged by American intelligence officials as a national security threat, as well as to Lenovo, Oppo and TCL.

A Wannabe Assassin And Self-Described Pedophile Is Running For Congress — Who’s To Blame?

A self-described pedophile and rapist who was imprisoned for threatening to assassinate the president of the United States is running for Congress.

Nathan Larson is the candidate, running in Virginia, and Democratic ex-Governor Terry McAuliffe is the man who restored voting rights to thousands of convicted felons in 2016, Larson among them. Larson landed himself in prison in 2008 after sending a letter to the Secret Service threatening to kill the president. That felony conviction would have made it impossible for him to vote for the rest of his life, but McAullife’s blanket amnesty changed that. Since his release from prison, Larson has revealed some horrifying things about his late ex-wife and his sexual preferences.

Larson probably doesn’t have much of a chance winning his election, but McAullife has been eyeing a 2020 presidential run. This probably isn’t the best start.

Women’s March Leader Slams U.S. Government For Providing Aid To Israel

Women’s March leader Tamika Mallory on Friday slammed the United States government for providing aid to Israel.

While speaking at an event hosted by the progressive Center for Constitutional Rights, Mallory claimed that Israel’s founding in 1948 amounted to a “human rights crime.”

“My soul would not rest, standing by and doing nothing about it, to know that the U.S. government – my taxpayer’s money, $10 million a day – is going to a government, a military, that takes the lives of people who were there first,” Mallory said at the event, where she appeared via video. Her comments were first reported by Jewish website Forward.

“There are a lot of people who will say, ‘Do you believe that Israel has the right to exist? I believe we all have a right to exist. I want to see all of us live in a free society where we are all able to raise our families and to be fruitful and have opportunities,” Mallory said. “This is not about stopping one side. This is about ensuring that the native people are able to enjoy the land. They shouldn’t ask anybody for their land! This is their land!”

Analysis: There is a Meth Crisis in America

And most of it is coming from across the border

Methamphetamine overdose deaths have skyrocketed in the past decade, hitting numbers unheard of during the mid-2000s meth epidemic as tens of thousands of pounds of the drug flow across the southwest border.

An analysis conducted by the Free Beacon, based on publicly available data, shows that meth-associated overdose deaths rose more than 450 percent between 2008—the trough of the last meth crisis—and 2016. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Free Beacon's analysis, that spike was instigated not by domestically produced meth, but by a surge of amphetamines trafficked by Mexican cartels into the United States.
Yes, Meth is Back

Many Americans think of meth as a thing of the past, an early-2000s craze that gave way to thecurrent opioid epidemic. Indeed, the number of meth overdose deaths began to spike in 2001, rising continuously until 2005.

The New Health Care Option Some States Might Offer: Medicaid -- for Sale

More than a dozen states either have or are still considering the idea of letting people buy Medicaid -- regardless of how much money they make.

Medicaid, as we know it, is the nation's government-run health care program for the poor. You have to make below a certain amount of money to qualify for it, and it's free for most. But what if people -- regardless of their income -- could buy a Medicaid plan?

That idea is gaining popularity among state lawmakers. Last year, a "Medicaid buy-in" or "Medicaid-for-all" bill made it as far as the governor's desk in Nevada. Gov. Brian Sandoval vetoed it, but it inspired similar efforts around the country.

Six states -- Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey and Washington state -- have active legislation to establish a Medicaid buy-in program. In four others, bills were proposed but stalled. New Mexico has set up a task force to study a Medicaid buy-in program, and Connecticut may do the same.

Venezuela's ‘21st-Century Socialism' Is an Unmitigated Disaster

The sham re-election of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on May 20 has made it clear that the humanitarian crisis in that country will only get worse.

Maduro has been running a dictatorship since the election of the constituent assembly in July of 2017, and Venezuelans are suffering because of it.

Many on the left have for years praised Maduro and his predecessor, Hugo Chavez, as heroes of “21st century socialism.” Tragically, the downward spiral of Venezuela’s economy puts the lie to those claims.

Venezuela’s decline is well-documented in Heritage’s Index of Economic Freedom. In 1995, the first year of the index, Venezuela scored 59.8 on its 0-to-100 scale, more than two points above the world average.

The liberal Left continue to push their radical agenda against American values. The good news is there is a solution.

That prosperity did not last. Under Chavez and Maduro, economic freedom has evaporated, and Venezuela is now one of the most economically repressed countries in the world, second only to North Korea. (See chart.)

Obama never shed his arrogance and other comments

From the left: Obama Never Shed His Arrogance
Obama adviser Ben Rhodes’ memoir, says The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd, further proves that “Obama always found us wanting.” After President Trump’s victory, Obama wondered if he wanted too much from the American people, if we were really ready for him. “He’s saying that, sadly, we were not enlightened enough for the momentous changes wrought by the smartest people in the world,” Dowd writes, adding that Obama thinks “We just weren’t ready for his amazing awesomeness.” What Obama never understood, Dowd writes, is that his election was a momentous step in American politics and culture — but that once he became president, he had to govern. Hope is for the future, but when it comes to the present, voters “needed to know, what’s in it for them?”
Foreign desk: Palestinians’ Strategic Blind Spot
President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem shows the danger in the Palestinian strategy of internationalizing the conflict and relying on the “international community” to do its work for it, explains Haviv Rettig Gur at the Times of Israel. “The only real alternative to internationalization (besides terrorism, of course, which vanishingly few Palestinians still view as a winning strategy) is to meaningfully engage with Israel and Israelis, a step too ideologically and politically painful for any major Palestinian faction to contemplate seriously,” notes Gur. Plus, internationalizing the conflict doesn’t require the Palestinians to give up their dream of undoing Israel’s reestablishment in 1948. As they discovered when Trump moved the embassy, however: This strategy “leaves you vulnerable when those politics change.”

Sales for Mariah Carey's Vegas shows are 'a disaster'

Mariah Carey might want to sell some more jewelry if fans don’t start buying tickets to her “Butterfly Returns” shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Seats are still available for the July 5 opening night of her three-month residency. “It’s a disaster,” one insider told me. “Scalpers bought a bunch of the tix and are freaking out.”

Carey fired her fiercely protective manager Stella Bulochnikov in November and hasn’t performed since Christmas.

Bulochnikov was going to book her at a smaller venue in Vegas “so they could keep announcing sold-out shows,” my source said.

“Instead, they put her back in Caesars with 4,300 seats.”

It’s official: The US Navy has a new ship killer missile

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Navy has selected the Norwegian Naval Strike Missile as its newover-the-horizon anti-ship missile destined for the littoral combat ship and likely the service’s future frigate as well.

The NSM, which was a joint submission between Kongsberg and Raytheon, was widely expected to win the competition after its main competitors — Boeing’s extended range Harpoon and Lockheed Martin’s Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile — dropped from contention. Both companies felt the competition was skewed towards the Raytheon/Kongsberg offering, Defense News reported last May.

The introduction of the NSM to the fleet breaks the venerable Harpoon’s decades-long lock on the surface over-the-horizon mission and is a huge boost to Kongsberg’s ambitions in the U.S. market.

The initial contract is listed at about $14.86 million but it could grow to as much as $848 million over the life of the contract.

Politicizing The FBI: How James Comey Succeeded Where Richard Nixon Failed

Comey involved the FBI in what appears to have been a plot to entrap a political opponent...

A little over 40 years ago, Richard Nixon went from a landslide re-election winner to a president forced to resign in disgrace. Nixon’s downfall was the direct result of his unsuccessful attempts to politicize through patronage of an independent, straight-arrow FBI. The commonsense, ethical lesson from this for all government officials would be to avoid attempts to use our nation’s independent fact-finder as a partisan force.

There is as well, of course, a more perverse lesson to be learned from Nixon’s downfall at the hands of an independent FBI, to wit: there is much power to gain by politicizing the Bureau, but only if its upper-leadership team is all on partisan board. Emerging evidence increasingly suggests, sadly, that this was former FBI Director James Comey’s leadership strategy in our country’s most sensitive investigations.

In the years running up to the 1972 election, Deputy Associate FBI Director Mark Felt, serving under feisty bulldog J. Edgar Hoover, staunchly refused the entreaties of Nixon lieutenants to act politically, e.g., to whitewash an ITT/Republican bribery scheme and to lock up innocent war protestors. Felt, the natural successor to Hoover, fell out of White House favor as a result.

Pelosi: Masterpiece Cakeshop is a commercial bakery open to the public, and such services clearly must be made available to the public on equal terms as determined by an independent review by the Colorado Court of Appeals which should have been upheld.

Ron Paul: Homeschooling Protects Chidren From Violence & Marxism

The February mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida prompted many parents to consider homeschooling. This is hardly surprising, as the misnamed federal “Gun-Free Schools” law leaves schoolchildren defenseless against mass shooters. Removing one’s children from government schools seems a rational response to school shootings.

School shootings are not the only form of violence causing more parents to consider homeschooling. Many potential homeschooling parents are concerned about the failure of school administrators to effectively protect children from bullying by other students.

Of course many parents choose homeschooling as a means of protecting their children from federal education “reforms” such as Common Core. Other parents are motivated by a desire to protect their children from the cultural Marxism that has infiltrated many schools.

Sen. Merkley 'spreading blatant lies' in failed attempt to enter immigrant detention center, WH says

A Democratic senator who recorded his dramatic, unsuccessful effort to enter a federal immigration facility in Texas on video over the weekend was "irresponsibly spreading blatant lies about routine immigration enforcement," the White House said Monday.

And in a separate statement, the Department of Homeland Security seemingly contradicted Sen. Jeff Merkley's suggestion that he was being systematically barred from immigrant detention centers, saying federal officials took extra steps to grant him access to one on Sunday.

In footage uploaded to Facebook late Sunday and seen by more than a million viewers, Merkley, D-Ore., approached the Office of Refugee Resettlement facility in Brownsville, Texas, after remarking that the government's treatment of children illegally entering the U.S. was "unacceptable."

Merkley then tried to follow somebody into the building, before being told that he was on "private property" and should "please go away." The facility, run by a contractor, is in a former Walmart with blacked-out windows.

Is Eric Holder's election pet project targeting your state?

Former Attorney General Eric Holder could have your state in his crosshairs in 2018—as he leads a campaign with the potential to paint the map blue for the next decade.

Democrats have played catchup in state legislative races since the Republican wave eight years ago. And they are well aware that how states draw maps, based on the 2020 Census, could determine which party controls the U.S. House of Representatives and most state legislatures for years to come.

Enter Holder and the group he chairs, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

The organization is focused on overhauling those maps and fighting the “gerrymandering” that in some cases favors Republicans. The goal is to back state Democratic candidates who could have a say in drawing new districts after 2020. Holder, while also mulling a 2020 presidential run, is now targeting a dozen states—four of which are expected to gain at least one congressional seat after the Census. Former President Barack Obama, Holder’s old boss, has also lent his name to the effort.

“In many states, governors and state senators elected to four-year terms will still be in office when new maps are drawn in 2021,” NDRC spokesman Patrick Rodenbush told Fox News. “That makes this a crucial year for redistricting.”

6 Ways to Lower Your Cholesterol Without Drugs

There is a raging controversy about the role of cholesterol in the diet and in the blood. Some scientists say that dietary cholesterol — without gorging on saturated and trans fats — doesn’t increase cholesterol levels in the blood. However the reverse is also true. Certain foods can help bring down high cholesterol levels naturally, without the potentially dangerous side effects of medication.

“By increasing your intake of soluble fiber you can significantly lower your blood cholesterol levels,” Dr. Gabe Mirkin M.D., author of The Healthy Heart Miracle tells Newsmax Health. “I would also recommend that folks eliminate red meat altogether from the diet not only because it’s a source of saturated fat but also because of the many negative health consequences — including increased cancer risk — it has on your whole body."

Here are some super foods that can drive down blood cholesterol levels:

Judicial Watch Sues to Expose DOJ FISA Warrant Abuses

Democrats outline demands for North Korea deal

Senate Democrats told President Trump on Monday that they won’t accept a deal to lift sanctions on North Korea unless the country completely and permanently eliminates its nuclear and missile testing program.

"Sanctions relief by the U.S. and our allies should be dependent on dismantlement and removal of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J. wrote in a letter to Trump. "Any deal that explicitly or implicitly gives North Korea sanctions relief for anything other than the verifiable performance of its obligations to dismantle its nuclear and missile arsenal is a bad deal."

They also said the deal must also result in the "complete and verifiable de-nuclearization of North Korea," an end to North Korea's ballistic missile tests, and "robust compliance inspections." Any deal that doesn't meet these requirements could be blocked by Congress, they warned.

We are all just one bad tweet away from disaster

If you use Twitter, you too are a public figure. And one egregious tweet could blow up your life.

On Tuesday, ABC canceled the wildly successful reboot of “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr wrote a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser in Barack Obama’s White House. Barr apologized, but the damage was done. Several members of her cast and ABC executives denounced her.

The cancelation of Barr’s show came some 11 hours after she sent the original tweet. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, who is black, said in a statement. ICM Partners talent agency also dropped Barr.

The swiftness of ABC’s response is a testament to diversity in the C-suite and the speed with which news travels on social media, says Aram Sinnreich, professor of communications at the American University, Washington, DC.

“It helps that there’s an African-American woman calling the shots,” he said. “It also reflects that, in the Trump age, the news cycle has accelerated so quickly that there’s a vanishingly small window for commercial entities to get out in front of these damaging public relations incidents. The ability to bury these kinds of stories has diminished to almost zero.”

This wasn’t Barr’s first racist tweet. So why now? The political climate is putting all employers on high alert when it comes to the words and behavior of their employees, Sinnreich says. “We’re understood to be private citizens, but when someone is the public face of a public corporation, that corporation should and must be held accountable for the actions of that individual,” he added.

University Of Michigan Now Has Almost 100 Full-Time Staff Dedicated To "Diversity"

There are various reasons for surging education costs, but the primary one is the expansion of university administration in recent decades.

Year after year, media note, and sometimes bemoan, the ballooning cost of higher education.

There is no doubt that the human costs of this rise are severe: Some 44 million Americans currently carry nearly $1.5 trillion in student loan debt, and the delinquency rate is 11 percent.

There are various reasons for surging costs, but the primary one is the remarkable expansion of university administration in recent decades. As Paul Campos, a law professor at the University of Colorado, wrote in the New York Times a few years ago:

“According to the Department of Education data, administrative positions at colleges and universities grew by 60 percent between 1993 and 2009, which Bloomberg reported was 10 times the rate of growth of tenured faculty positions.

Even more strikingly, an analysis by a professor at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, found that, while the total number of full-time faculty members in the C.S.U. system grew from 11,614 to 12,019 between 1975 and 2008, the total number of administrators grew from 3,800 to 12,183 — a 221 percent increase.”

Universities are large and require administrators to function, of course. The problem is there seems to be no end to the expansion. This point was recently illustrated by Mark Perry, an economics professor at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Perry, who also is a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, used the University of Michigan as an example to highlight the rise of “diversicrats” (diversity bureaucrats) on today’s campuses. The numbers are astonishing.

Sarah Sanders Slaps Paul Krugman For ‘Great Recession’ Prediction Under Trump

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders once again took aim at New York Times columnist Paul Krugman for predicting global recession under the Trump administration.
The White House frequently has made fun of Krugman for his November 2016 prediction that “if the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never.”

The Nobel Prize-winning economist continued: “Putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news. What makes it especially bad right now, however, is the fundamentally fragile state much of the world is still in, eight years after the great financial crisis.”

Supreme Court vacates ruling granting abortion rights to illegal immigrants

The Supreme Court on Monday erased a lower appeals court’s ruling that had found illegal immigrant teens in federal custody had a constitutional right to abortions facilitated by the U.S. government.

The ruling, delivered in an unsigned opinion, does not settle the big constitutional issues, but it does reset the playing field, erasing a precedent that had said illegal immigrants had abortion rights similar to an American held in government custody.

The case is one of a series of legal battles that erupted from the surge of illegal immigrant families and Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) over the past five years.

In the case of unaccompanied children, some of them arrived at the border pregnant, and when taken into custody demanded an abortion that, most likely, would have been illegal in their home countries.

Trump administration officials signed off on a few abortions but sought to impose conditions on some of the teens, such as informing their parents back in their home countries and pushing them to seek counseling from pro-life crisis pregnancy organizations.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the teens, and U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan sided with them, arguing that they deserved to have their abortions in the U.S. and she wouldn’t countenance sending them back to their home countries where the procedure might be illegal.

FINALLY: FBI’s Hillary Email Scandal Center of Upcoming Senate Hearing

Senate Judiciary Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced the date for a hearing on the Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) report about Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials’ conduct ahead of the 2016 presidential election, including the Hillary Clinton email scandal.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the hearing will now take place at 2 p.m. on June 11 and is open to the public.

The hearing, titled “Examining the Inspector General’s First Report on Justice Department and FBI Actions in Advance of the 2016 Presidential Election,” will focus on the long-anticipated IG report.

Fox News reported in May:

Why Liberals Are Mad That Conservatives Want to Exempt Some People From Work Requirements

Several states are considering exemptions from Medicaid work requirements that would disproportionately impact black and white people.

Since the Trump administration greenlit state governments in January to add work requirements to their Medicaid programs, many conservative states have seized on the opportunity. The concept of making work a requirement for people living in poverty to get free health insurance is a controversial one. But the exceptions to these work requirements are generating controversy of their own.

In Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio, Republicans -- who control the legislature in those states -- have proposed exempting counties with high unemployment from the work requirements.

Supporters argue that work requirements will incentivize people to get or stay employed and eventually stop using Medicaid. Generally speaking, the counties that would be relieved from the proposed exemptions lack jobs and public transportation.

Arnold Ahlert: An Unrelenting Leftist Hatefest

Hate and hysteria, rigidly enforced by rank hypocrisy, is the dominant mindset of the Left.

November 8, 2016, was a watershed moment in American history. It was the night when decades of leftist propaganda, all centered around the self-aggrandizing assertion they were the most tolerant and enlightened people in the nation, was revealed as utterly fraudulent.

In its place, hate and hysteria, rigidly enforced by rank hypocrisy — directed at Donald Trump, his family, his associates and his supporters — has become the dominant mindset in the leftist universe.

Roseanne Barr was universally scorned for her racist tweets directed at Barack Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s Joy Reid engaged in anti-homosexual blogging and lied about it. Moreover, newly discovered blog entries included the image of Sen. John McCain’s head photoshopped onto the body of the Virginia Tech shooter, suggestions that Israeli Jews should go back to Europe, and a post that encouraged her readers to check out “Loose Change 9/11,” alleging the 9/11 terrorist attacks were perpetrated by the U.S. government.

Despite Farm Bill Fail, Advocates of Food Stamp Work Requirements Succeed Elsewhere

The House voted against the legislation on Friday. But some of the ideas behind it have seen success in the states.

The farm bill, which included substantial changes to food stamps, failed in the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday.

The legislation, crafted by Republicans on the House Agriculture Committee, would have imposed stricter work requirements on more food stamp applicants and eliminated options that states have to expand or ease eligibility rules. It also would have invested about 10 times more money per year in workforce training programs.

The bill’s defeat may spell the end of any serious effort to make major changes to federal anti-poverty programs through legislation in 2018. But there’s still one place where advocates of stricter eligibility requirements are likely to have some success: states.

Robin Smith: Legal Plunder as Law Enforcement

Tell that to the American citizen stripped of $58k seven months ago with no crime.

Most will skim this headline and think, “Nah, this doesn’t apply to me.”

Well, yes it does.

If you own property that could be stolen from you and then used in some type of criminal activity, your property, once recovered, doesn’t have to be returned to you. If you simply possess a large amount of cash and are stopped and searched, the money can be taken and held for an administrative review to determine if, indeed, it was lawfully obtained or possessed. It may not be returned.

So, in reality, there’s a real possibility your life may be impacted by the issue of civil asset forfeiture. Regardless, it’s an issue that emphatically demonstrates the metastasizing cancer of bureaucratic government.

What is civil asset forfeiture and why should you care?

Civil asset forfeiture is the confiscation of property by law enforcement at the federal, state and local levels when that property is alleged to have been derived from or used in the commission of a crime. Unlike criminal asset forfeiture, property is seized and held from individuals or entities without a conviction or even formal charges filed. In short, there is no requirement of proof of guilt, a conviction or even formal charges. It’s entirely legal, and there’s often little recourse against it.

Spygate: Majority Believe Feds Broke Law to Stop Trump Presidency

A majority of 51 percent of voters now believe “senior law enforcement officials are likely to have broken the law in an effort to prevent Trump from winning the presidency,” according to a poll from Rasmussen Reports.

Only 42 percent of voters believe it is “unlikely that these officials illegally attempted to stop a Trump presidency.”

In other words, we now live in a country where only 42 percent of voters believe it is “unlikely” federal law enforcement officials tried to illegally meddle in a presidential election.

Only 26 percent believe it is “not at all likely.”

In this poll of 1,000 likely voters, which was taken just prior to the Memorial Day weekend, Rasmussen also found that public opinion — despite the establishment media’s dishonest efforts — is steadily moving against federal law enforcement since this poll was last taken in February.

Why There's an Increased Interest in Homeschooling

There’s a lot to dislike about many public schools—and right now, student safety is at the top of the list. “After a gunman opened fire on students in Parkland, Florida,” a new Washington Times feature explains, “the phones started ringing at the Texas Home School Coalition, and they haven’t stopped yet.”

Like so many state organizations, the Texas organization was used to a certain number of inquiries about homeschooling. President Tim Lambert says they usually averaged about 600 calls a month—a number he watched double over the past several weeks. “When the Parkland shooting happened, our phone calls and emails exploded. And they’re not alone.

“I think what happens with these school shootings is they’re the straws that broke the camel’s back,” Christopher Chin, the president of Homeschool Louisiana, told the Times. “I don’t think it’s the major decision-maker, but it’s in the back of parents’ minds.” In general, he thinks, the violence, bullying, and dangerous environment is tipping the decision for families, who were already sick of the lack of quality instruction and liberal indoctrination.

More families are angry about what their kids are learning—and they’re pulling their kids out of public school to prove it.

Life with Father, A Dying Breed

In 1952, I was five years old when I walked into the kitchen of our 6th floor apartment in the Baltimore government projects. Dad stood as Mom sat at the table with a spoon in her hand tapping on a glass. Mom was preparing Dad to take the test to become one of Baltimore City's first black firefighters. By tapping the glass with a spoon, Mom was teaching Dad the alarm bells he was required to recognize. Mom was a tough teacher. “No! That's wrong! Listen and get it right!” Not only did Dad learn the alarm bells, he became a super firefighter, winning “Firefighter of the Year” two times.

Dad went to be with Jesus at age 90, June 1, 2018. Passing away with Dad is a generation in which parents were parents rather than treating children as peers/friends. My baby brother who is a cop said that it is stunning the number of parents who call the police because their child refuses to go to school.

In Dad's day, manliness was encouraged. Dad liked John Wayne, Hopalong Cassidy, and Roy Rogers. Today, little boys are drugged for behaving like boys. Kindergarten thru college males are being transformed into metrosexual wimps. Public schools are erasing gender lines and encouraging transgenderism as early as pre-k. SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) laws require elementary teachers not to address students as boys and girls.

We are moving towards a fatherless America...

Democratic Governors Threaten to Sue Over Trump's Abortion Rule

Democratic governors are threatening to sue the Trump administration over a proposed rule that would force Planned Parenthood to give up its federal grants or keep family-planning and abortion-related services under different roofs.

"If this reckless policy is finalized as written, we will have no choice but to explore all possible avenues, including legal options, to block it from harming the women in our states," Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and 13 fellow members of the Democratic Governors Association wrote in a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar. "Our voices will be heard on this damaging proposal, and we are prepared to match our words with action."

Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced that it would develop a new rule governing so-called Title X family-planning funds to make it harder for providers of abortions and related services to obtain federal money. While it is already illegal to use taxpayer funds for abortion, Planned Parenthood and similar groups use federal grants for other women's health care services while using private money for abortion-related services — often at the same facilities and with the same personnel.

Study: Catholic Schools Teach Self-Discipline

Catholic schools may better inculcate values of self-control in young children, a new study from the Thomas B. Fordham Institute suggests.

The study found that elementary-level Catholic-school students generally outperformed their peers when it came to self-control and acting out, indicating that Catholic schools' emphasis on "teaching the whole child" may be useful in encouraging students to self-discipline.

Disciplinary practices have become a point of contention in recent years. Many within the Obama Administration were concerned that disadvantaged students, especially those who are black or Latino, were being unfairly targeted for discipline in the public-school system.

The DOE issued a "Dear Colleague" letter in 2014 that indicated it would interpret a racially disparate impact of disciplinary action as discriminatory, even if there was no evidence of discriminatory intent. Subsequent analysis has cast doubt on the efficacy of this intervention.

The Fordham report suggests that educators may be able to sidestep this suspension debate entirely through an emphasis on self-discipline. "One thing seems certain," the report notes: "Self-discipline is far better than the externally imposed kind."

How to Calculate What Opioid Overdoses Cost Government

New research provides a formula to help cities and counties know what to expect, financially, when drug deaths spike.

As governments grapple with the rising cost of the opioid crisis, one group may have found a way to predict how high those costs will go.

For every three fatal overdoses, a local government's public safety costs can increase by an average of 1 percent, or $150,000, according to research from the data platform OpenGov. What’s more, once deaths start spiking, government costs tend to steadily increase at that rate for about three years until they begin to plateau.

The findings give local governments an idea of what to expect financially as they respond to rising overdose deaths. The data were gathered from 20 cities and counties across five states considered to be on the front lines of the crisis -- Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- and released exclusively to Governing.

Cleaning up after Obama and Hillary

Maureen Dowd, New York Times opiner, comes out with a curious piece titled Obama – just too good for us. You sorta wonder why she’d do up such a piece at this late date. She caught on to Barama too late with too little insight, and even then missed the most salient point - that he and Hillary Clinton are about to enter history together for trying to take down the most successful country that ever existed. Considering them together, in what we might call (with spectacular originality) A Deplorable Basket, it just seems natural.

Obama and Hillary in some ways are mirrors of each other; in other ways, photographic negatives. They’re alike in that the focus of each is self -- self with a vengeance, in a way so exaggerated as to escape the comprehension of normal people. Each thinks him/herself the smartiest pants in the room, maybe even the world, perhaps even the galaxy. Both have perfectly average intelligence, scant talent, zero common sense and no zest for anything that resembles productive work.

His phony cerebralism counterpoises her readiness for hardball. His towering disdain balances her sneering contempt. His ideology-driven cast of mind opposes her criminality. Neither is or ever was presidential timber or even presidential toilet paper. Both mistook the band wagon ambitions of supporters for proof that they themselves were Napoleons among battalions of corporals.

The most extraordinary thing about both, especially Obama, is a capacity for self-delusion. Their only real skill is skirting rules, subverting institutions, playing on resentments, destroying lives. For real accomplishment, for building up rather than tearing down, neither could lead a fly to fresh horse dung.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces $80 Million in Higher Education Scholarships for 2018-2019 Academic Award Year

Scholarships Will Help 38,000 Students Attend Post-Secondary Institutions

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) has awarded more than $80 million to nearly 38,000 students to attend one of Maryland’s post-secondary institutions.

“Working to make higher education affordable and accessible for as many Maryland students as possible is one of our top priorities,” said Governor Hogan. “Each dollar we provide to our students for their education is an investment in our economy and our state's future. As we continue to expand access to education, we strengthen our workforce and help both Maryland citizens and businesses grow and succeed.”

The money, which will be used by students in the 2018-2019 academic year, comes from the Howard P. Rawlings Educational Excellence Awards (EEA) Program, comprised of the Educational Assistance (EA) Grant and Guaranteed Access (GA) Grant programs.

“The EEA program is the state’s largest need-based aid program, providing financial assistance to Maryland students with the greatest financial need,” said MHEC Secretary Dr. James D. Fielder. “This is an excellent example of how, under Governor Hogan’s leadership, we are able to increase student access and success with less debt.”

Of the 38,000 awardees, 1,650 students received an award that covers 100 percent of their financial need, with a maximum award amount up to $18,600.

Grant and scholarship awards in other programs will be announced as they are awarded by OSFA during mid- to late-summer. Each year, OSFA is responsible for granting awards to more than 60,000 students in state grant and scholarship programs with a total expenditure of more than $105 million.

Since taking office, the Hogan administration has invested more than $7.1 billion in higher education and for the past three years has worked with Maryland’s public colleges and universities to cap tuition growth at two percent for Maryland residents at these schools.

NHL Playoffs 2018: Capitals overwhelm Golden Knights in Game 4, just one win from Stanley CupNHL Playoffs 2018: Capitals overwhelm Golden Knights in Game 4, just one win from Stanley Cup

The Capitals came out firing at home, scoring four straight goals before the Knights got on the board

Three down, one to go. The Capitals are just a victory away from hoisting an elusive Stanley Cup after blasting the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4 on Monday night at Capital One Arena. Washington scored three first-period goals and added another in the second period to jump out to an early 4-0 lead.

T.J. Oshie got the Caps on the board just 10 minutes in on the power play after using some fancy footwork to hit the puck off his skate and then off his stick into the back of the net on an assist from Evgeny Kuznetsov. Kuznetsov assisted on the next goal as well, scored by Tom Wilson. And Devante Smith-Pelly, who gave the Caps late insurance with his Game 3 goal, scored a near-identical goal to Oshie's in the final minute of the first.

Egg a day tied to lower risk of heart disease

People who eat an egg just about every day may have a lower risk of heart attack and stroke than individuals who don’t eat eggs at all, a large Chinese study suggests.

Researchers examined survey data on egg consumption among 461,213 adults who were 51 years old on average. When they joined the study, none had a history of heart disease. Overall, they ate an average of half an egg daily; about 9 percent of them avoided eggs altogether while 13 percent ate roughly one egg every day.

At least half of the participants were followed for nine years or more. During that time, 83,977 people developed heart disease or had a heart attack or stroke, and 9,985 died from these conditions.

Donald and Hillary go fishing in the Winter

How do you settle a presidential election when the vote is too close to call?

With a fishing contest in northern Wisconsin in the winter, of course!

After the first round of votes were counted, Hillary and Donald were exactly deadlocked.

Instead of going through a recount, they agreed to a week-long ice fishing contest to settle the election.

Whoever caught the most fish at the end of the week would be the President-elect.

They decided that a remote frozen lake in northern Wisconsin would be the ideal place. No observers on the fishing grounds, but both would need to have their catches verified and counted each night at 5 PM.

After Day 1, Trump returned with a total of 10 fish, Hillary came back with nothing.

Day 2 finished, and Trump caught another 20 fish, but Hillary once again came back with nothing.

That night, Hillary and her cronies got together and accused Trump of being a “low-life, cheating’ son-of-a-bitch.”

Instead of fishing on Day 3, they were going to follow and to spy on him and figure out how he was cheating.

Day 3 finished up and Trump had an incredible day, adding 50 fish to his total.

That night, Hillary and her Democratic cohorts got together for the full report on how Donald was cheating.

Hillary stood up to give her report and said, “You are not going to believe this, he’s cutting holes in the ice.”

And this story, ... tells you the difference between a successful businessman and a career government politician.
