Carson: ‘I’m announcing my candidacy for president’
Ben Carson told a Cincinnati television station in an interview broadcast late Sunday that he’s announcing his candidacy for the 2016 White House race.
“I’m willing to be part of the equation and therefore, I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States of America,” Carson said in an interview with WKRC.
“Many people have suggested to me that I should run for president, even though I’m not a politician,” the Republican added.
“I began to ask myself 'why are people clamoring for me to do this?' I represented a lot of the same thoughts that they have,” Carson told the station. “I’m not 100 percent sure ‘politics as usual’ is going to save us.”
Carson is expected to formally launch his campaign on Monday from his hometown of Detroit.

Salisbury Mayor Irate Over Protest Tonight That Will Cancel "Pride Night"
Jim Ireton with his LOOK AT ME style just announced a protest that will take place in Downtown Salisbury tonight.
Wednesday and Thursday night has typically been reserved for Pride Night but Ireton has requested that ALL businesses that would normally be open this evening close their doors. He has asked all Downtown residents to remain indoors all evening.
Ireton went on to say they will provide port a potties and additional trash cans to be prepared for what could be three people to literally hundreds.
Ireton also implied that unlike the Mayor of Baltimore, he will be prepared should anything get out of line.

WHAT A GUY?
What The Main Stream Media Is NOT Telling You About The Salisbury Fire Department
One thing is for certain, the City of Salisbury and their Fire Department is not getting their fair share of funding from the County.
No one in the right position is actually denying that. What must be ironed out is, what is fair. Here's what you haven't heard yet, especially from your local media.
Even before there was a County Executive position, your County Council had been given the task of just how to divide the funding between ALL of the Fire Departments in Wicomico County and that includes Salisbury.
Because it was an upcoming election year, the Council decided that they would simply divide the money up evenly between ALL of the Fire Departments. Now think about that for a second. Do YOU believe Allen goes out on as many calls as the City of Salisbury? Clearly the answer is NO.
Now, when you actually do a study based on per capita throughout the state, Wicomico County has far more equipment then any other County in the state. Is it necessary, absolutely not. Yeah, I know, a LOT of Firefighters will come back here on the defense and scream, that's not true. Well, it is true. I'm not trying to KNOCK ANY Fire Department. The facts are the facts, you have way too much equipment.
Heck, we've even had a candidate chime in with a letter to the editor giving his view of how to fix the problem at hand. You have to KNOW all of the circumstances to actually come up with a solution.
So, is Ireton wrong, NO. Is Culver wrong, NO. The problem at hand is the fact that Ireton has acted like a complete jackass and gave an ultimatum and anyone who has any experience in business knows, you don't give ultimatums, period. You first come to the table with an invite and NOT through the press. You negotiate and put your facts on the table and you debate the matter until there's a resolution.
Wicomico County should do like Sussex County and DIVIDE EMS/Ambulance services from the Fire Department, for starters. They can have five different locations for each ambulance. This will certainly end any more form of retaliation from the City and what's more important is that ALL County residents will be covered at all times.
As for the Volunteer Departments throughout the County, unfortunately and more than likely you are going to experience a decrease in funding because RIGHT IS RIGHT. The City deserves more of that divided funding because they do far more calls.
HOWEVER, the FACT that Ireton is placing this July 1 demand on the County Executive, know for a fact that SHOULD Executive Culver be FORCED to make a financial change, it is NOT Culver's fault, it's on Ireton. Again, it's very important to understand, Ireton is not actually wrong when it comes to that funding being unfairly divided.
No matter what, there's going to be hardship any way you look at it. However, it's simply unfortunate that it has now fallen under a REPUBLICAN Leader and should have fallen under Pollitt instead. That is why Ireton is making this thing such a big show and that is why your local LIBERAL media is following suit and giving Jimmy all this attention.
Again, if you look at all of the other Volunteer Fire Stations throughout the state you'll learn that Wicomico County has far more equipment then any other Department. The Fire Service needs to be better managed and quite frankly the old adage of "Big Boys With big Toys" needs to come to an end.
Because of technology and the fact that more homes have smoke detectors, there are less and less fires, thankfully. What ticks so many people off is that the City of Salisbury keeps spending millions of dollars on new Fire Palaces with the latest and greatest gadgets.
That being said, here's another issue most of you are NOT aware of. The SFD is accredited. Now if you know me well enough, I'm a firm believer that ANY organization who is a part of any accreditation is a load of CRAP! What does the accreditation get you, NOTHING! What does it cost the taxpayer, MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars.
These organizations have RULES. In order to be accredited you can only have a piece of equipment for so many years or so many miles. So what does the SFD do, they take that ladder truck and follow/chase every damn ambulance to rack up the miles and guess what, in no time they'll be FORCED to replace that million dollar unit and then sell it to Pittsville, (like they did with the last ladder truck) for $5,000.00. Yes, all at YOUR expense.
The SFD is not alone. The Salisbury Zoo goes through the very same crap, hence the new $3,000,000.00 Animal Services Building and exhibits. Does the Zoo need that palace, absolutely NOT. In fact the Zoo is one of the smallest Zoo's in the country and actually should NOT be accredited at all. The only reason they are is because the AZA, (at the time) wanted to recruit smaller Zoo's and Salisbury was suckered into it. Now it's costing you MILLIONS.
My main point here is, the more YOU taxpayers keep falling for these accredited organizations, (unions) the more money it's going to cost you. While actual fire calls are going down, your expenses keep skyrocketing. Eventually it starts catching up to you, hence a proposed 20% tax increase in Worcester County because they've run out of money. WHY did they run out of money? Well, who gets paid the most! Police Officers, Firefighters and Government Workers!!!!
Wake up people! This is just the very beginning. No one has DOWNSIZED in the City or Wicomico County, even though the Eastern Shore was hit the hardest in the recession, (depression) and we're nowhere near recovering.
Salisbury News is the ONLY news source that publishes the business closures and jobs reports and IF you've paid any attention, things are really bad here and they're getting worse. Heck, Ireton/Hoppes are asking for MORE Paid Firefighters, really.
Finally, in one sense I feel for Ireton and in another I feel for Culver. This Post is NOT about taking ANY ONE'S side. Both Leaders are in a very difficult position and the ONLY result is going to be extremely painful. The question is, who will feel the most pain. Will it be the Volunteer Fire Departments or will it be YOU the Taxpayer?
I look forward to your comments.

47 Years Later, History Repeats Itself
In 1968 the City of Baltimore broke out in riots after Martin Luther King was assassinated. Today we are looking at extremely frustrated African Americans who are desperate to be heard once again, 47 years later.
Governor Hogan came forward yesterday trying to explain, he had to wait for the Mayor to ASK for relief from the National Guard. He went on to express his frustration, why did she wait so long.
Could things have been calmed down last night, well, I think everyone will agree, the answer is yes. However, irreversible damage was caused by very poor leadership. I have spent years trying to explain to our viewers just how important it is to make sure you elect people with EXPERIENCE and WISDOM.
Oh sure, it's real easy to sit behind this computer and play Monday morning Quarterback but come on people, Baltimore is way out of control. So much so, more than 5,000 additional law enforcement officers have been recruited by Governor Hogan throughout the state and even other states, along with the National Guard.
Sheriff Mike Lewis and seven Deputies got in their Urban Assault Vehicle at 11:45 PM last night to head to Baltimore at the Governors request. REALLY? Salisbury News has spent years showing you how militarized local law enforcement have become and now you know why. LOOK DEEPLY at how our elected officials 100% ALLOWED things to get out of control. They did NOTHING!
None of us are sure just where the order came from but one thing is for sure, NO business is ever going to consider locating or relocating to Baltimore, why should they! From small businesses to large, you put everything on the line to create jobs and build economic development and Baltimore just proved that the money these businesses invest proves that law enforcement will NOT protect or defend their investments.

FREDDIE GRAY ALLEGEDLY HAD SPINE SURGERY JUST ONE WEEK BEFORE ARREST
CONFIRMED: Court records show Freddie Gray was receiving a structured settlement from Allstate Insurance and attempted to convert it into one lump sum in early March
EXCLUSIVE: The Fourth Estate has been told that Freddie Gray’s life-ending injuries to his spine may have possibly been the result of spinal and neck surgery that he allegedly received a week before he was arrested, not from rough excessively rough treatment or abuse from police.
The Fourth Estate has contacted sources who allege that Freddie Gray received spinal and neck surgery a week before we was arrested, and was allegedly receiving a large structured settlement from Allstate Insurance. The surgery is allegedly related to a car accident in which Gray was involved.

Mayor Ireton Embarrasses Eastern Shore and Salisbury Maryland
Several businesses refused to close their doors while a few did. However, there were about 50 people total who arrived Downtown, most of them were spectators and not participants of any vigil, protest or riot. It was a complete embarrassment to the City and an unbelievable amount of resources have been spent for nothing.
As we had predicted, Mayor Ireton, (once again) jumped the gun in the hopes of being the center of attention, implying large groups of people would be showing up and there would be mayhem on the streets of Salisbury.
Unfortunately, not only did taxpayers foot a huge bill for this, many businesses lost a ton of business as citizens were in fear for their life and refused to come Downtown.
I spoke with the owner of Roadie Joe's who stated there wasn't a single person in their business and that was about a half hour ago. Other business owners were saying they too were extremely slow.
It's all about the drama Folks. The LOOK AT ME Mayor and the press keeps giving him all this attention. No point in wasting your hard earned money for tomorrows newspaper, nothing to see here Folks.
Breaking News: Mayor of Baltimore says its OK for Al Sharpton to come there!
In a press conference this evening, Mayor Rawlings-Blake, responding to a question having nothing to do with Sharpton, suggested he would be welcome on the scene, which is rapidly degenerating into chaos and violence. Is she nuts?
She also declared a curfew -- but not until tomorrow night. Go figure.

Angry Sheriff Mike Lewis Says People Inside Baltimore Church Did Something ‘Hard to Believe’ as Deputies Patrolled Street
People giving the middle finger to law enforcement during the unrest in Baltimore isn’t necessarily an unusual sight — but from people inside a church?
That’s exactly Maryland sheriff Mike Lewis told TheBlaze he saw Tuesday night.
Lewis traveled with deputies from Wicomico County after Gov. Larry Hogan requested law enforcement assistance in Baltimore.
He said he saw a group of black and white individuals standing behind the glass doors of Simmons Memorial Baptist Church, and “five or six” of them gave him the middle finger just before 11 p.m., well after the city-wide curfew had been imposed.
The sheriff said that one of the white individuals grabbed her crotch and mouthed the words “eat my ‘P’ effing pig” and that another one — who wore the medic band around each arm — raised both of her hands and gave him a double middle finger.
Lewis told TheBlaze that after he pulled out his cellphone to photograph what he was witnessing, most of the people in the doorway turned and “fled,” but three remained, one holding up a black T-shirt over her face. Behind them read a sign, “Welcome to Simmons where you can ‘Experience the Difference.’”

BREAKING NEWS: Prisoner in van said Freddie Gray was ‘banging against the walls’ during ride
BALTIMORE — A prisoner sharing a police transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators that he could hear Gray “banging against the walls” of the vehicle and believed that he “was intentionally trying to injure himself,” according to a police document obtained by The Washington Post.
The prisoner, who is currently in jail, was separated from Gray by a metal partition and could not see him. His statement is contained in an application for a search warrant, which is sealed by the court. The Post was given the document under the condition that the prisoner not be named because the person who provided it feared for the inmate’s safety.
The document, written by a Baltimore police investigator, offers the first glimpse of what might have happened inside the van. It is not clear whether any additional evidence backs up the prisoner’s version, which is just one piece of a much larger probe.

Second Prisoner Now Says Freddie Gray Didn't Hurt Himself
The prisoner who was in the police van with Freddie Gray on the day he suffered a spinal cord injury that led to his death now says Gray did not cause his own injuries, Mediaite reports.
The Washington Post on Wednesday reported a leaked document from the investigation in which the second prisoner, who was not identified by the Post, claimed he could hear Gray on the other side of a partition "banging against the walls" and believed he was intentionally trying to injure himself."
But on Thursday, the man spoke to Baltimore NBC affiliate WBAL-TV and disputed that report.
The man, Donta Allen, told the station, "When I got in the van, I didn’t hear nothing. … It was a smooth ride. We went straight to the police station. All I heard was a little banging for about four seconds.
He said that he originally thought Gray was "banging his head," but now knows "they did something to him and his body’s been wobbling back there.... He can’t hurt himself back in no paddy wagon."
Allen said that when the van got to the police station he heard police say, "We gave him a run for his money."
"When we got to the police station, they said he didn’t have no pulse or nothing," Allen said.
"They called his name, 'Mr. Gray, Mr. Gray.' And he wasn’t responsive."

Your Tax Dollars Paid for Boston Bomber's Family's Trip to U.S.
Survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing are outraged after learning that family members of convicted bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were flown to the U.S., put up in a hotel and provided with extensive security – all paid for with taxpayer dollars.
"Fox and Friends Weekend" broke down the numbers, and they are shocking.
Anna Kooiman reported that it cost $2,500 per person to fly to the U.S. from Amsterdam, $200 per person a night at the hotel, $100,000 for round-the-clock security, plus lawyer fees.
"[This] shouldn't surprise you because you've been paying for it since day one," Tucker Carlson said. "Mrs. Tsarnaev was brought here along with her boys, the ones she claimed that were wronged, at your expense."
"They claimed asylum and then they immediately went on welfare. They've been living at taxpayer expense on the dole all these years, and now their extended family is doing the same."

“A woman seen hitting and berating a black-clad teenager, later confirmed to be her son, has been hailed as “mom of the year” after her intervention on the streets of Baltimore was caught on video. As violence flared up across the city on Monday, the woman, who was identified as Toya Graham on Tuesday afternoon, was filmed telling her child to “take that f—— mask off.”
“Graham spoke to CBS News about the video, which initially went viral with little context. In the interview, the single mother of six tells the network that she intervened out of concern for her 16-year-old son’s safety. She said: “That’s my only son, and at the end of the day, I don’t want him to be a Freddie Gray. But to stand up there and vandalize police officers, that’s not justice.”

WBOC Wants YOU To Run Their Station
Well, since it is clear they can't get it right on their own, WBOC will be holding a series of Town Hall meetings asking YOU how THEY should run their show.
Heck, the smart move would have simply been to ask SBYNews to ask these questions for them, since we have the largest local audience on the Eastern Shore.
This is nothing more than a ploy to get people with nothing better to do to come together for a meet and greet. If you really think they're going to change their ways, you're nuts.
99% of the people will say, you do way too much Delaware news. Jahelka will say, no, we've studied that and the percentage of Delaware news is a lot lower than you think. OK Craig, thanks for LISTENING and wasting every one's time.
Nevertheless, start here. Tell WBOC your "questions, concerns, comments and story ideas". This should get interesting.
The truth about Freddie Gray's 'pre-existing injury from car accident'
Rumors have been circulating online that Freddie Gray had spinal surgery recently and collected a payout in a settlement from a car accident. But Howard County court records show the case was connected to lawsuit involving lead paint.
Online reports are swirling that Freddie Gray had spinal surgery shortly before he died in police custody, and collected a payout in a settlement from a car accident. Those reports — which raise questions about the injury that led to his death in April 19 — point to Howard County court records as proof.
But court records examined Wednesday by The Baltimore Sun show the case had nothing to do with a car accident or a spine injury. Instead, they are connected to a lawsuit alleging that Gray and his sister were injured by exposure lead paint.
Paperwork was filed in December allowing Gray and his sister, Fredericka, to each collect an $18,000 payment from Peachtree Settlement Funding, records show. In exchange, Peachtree would have received a $108,439 annuity that was scheduled to be paid in $602 monthly installments between 2024 and 2039.
In her documents, Fredericka Gray checked "other" when asked to describe the type of accident. She also said that the date of the accident was "94/99" and that she was a minor when the case was settled.
In his documents, Freddie Gray checked "work injury, medical malpractice and auto accident" as the type of accident. When asked to explain, he also wrote something that is unreadable. He also wrote something unreadable when asked if he was a minor when the case was settled.
Both cases were filed at the same time by a New Jersey law firm.
A judge dismissed the case on April 2 when neither Gray nor his sister appeared in court, records show.
Baltimore attorney William H. "Billy" Murphy, who represents the Gray family, confirmed that the Howard County case was connected to the lead paint lawsuit.

The immediate resignation or removal from office of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
The following signers of this petition are writing to demand the immediate resignation or removal from office of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake for gross incompetence and negligence in the performance of her duties as Baltimore City Mayor.
On April 25 during a press conference, the Mayor described her delicate balancing act of protecting police while simultaneously giving “those who wished to destroy, space to do that as well.”
By giving these unlawful citizens room to destroy personal property, the Mayor directly contributed to the destruction and chaos that followed on April 27, 2015. This strategy underscores a complete lack of leadership and experience in handling crisis. As an executive officer, the Mayor is responsible for the preservation of the State and the protection of their constituents.

Al Sharpton to visit city, plan march to Washington over Gray's death
The Rev. Al Sharpton said Monday he plans to visit Baltimore this week to help push police for answers in the death of Freddie Gray.
The New York-based civil rights activist also wants to plan a two-day march in May from Baltimore to Washington, expressing frustration in the lack of answers into Gray's death. Gray, who died April 19 after suffering a spinal cord injury while in police custody, was buried Monday.
"I have been asked by many in the Baltimore area since day one to get involved in the justice for Freddie Gray movement," Sharpton said in a statement.

Baltimore Mayor: Space Was Provided To Those Who ‘Wished To Destroy’ [VIDEO]
Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made a stunning admission Saturday
Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made a stunning admission Saturday in the aftermath of violent protests over the recent death of Freddie Gray, saying she wanted to give space to those “who wished to destroy.”
And destroy, some did.
Numerous storefronts and vehicles were damaged and businesses were looted at the tail end of a day of demonstrations. Thirty-four people were arrested and six police officers suffered minor injuries. Baseball fans attending a game at Camden Yards were told to stay inside the ballpark until violence outside of the stadium subsided.
“I’ve made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” Rawlings-Blake said during a press conference Saturday night.
“It’s a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.”

New Black Panther Leader Says He Gonna Hunt Down White People And Kill Them To Totally Destroy White Supremacy
On Sunday, a New Black Panther Party leader using the name General Taco said members of the New Black Panther Party will hunt down and kill white people, The Blaze reported Wednesday. Saying that the future of the organization is “absolute total destruction” of what he called “white supremacy” and capitalism on the planet, General Taco said the group would hunt their “pink a**es down.”
Taco, whose name stands for “taking all capitalists out,” wasn’t finished. “Once [white people] die, we should dig ‘em up, and kill ‘em again, bury ‘em, dig ‘em up, and kill ‘em again, and again, and again!” he exclaimed, getting more agitated as he spoke. He justified his remarks by claiming white people have a “history” of pushing “crack, AIDS and unemployment” on black people in order to “exterminate” them. Taco’s call for racial violence is nothing new for the group.
On Sunday, the St. Petersburg/Tampa, Florida, chapter of the New Black Panther Party issued a tweet calling for the murder of white people.
“Kill these racist h**keys, these cr***ers, these pigs, these pink people, It has been long overdue!” the organization said on Twitter.

Video of a Baltimore mother slapping her son amid the city’s violent protests is going viral, with the woman winning praise for attempting to keep him out of trouble during the unrest.
Rioting and looting engulfed the city Monday in response to the death of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old man who died April 19 after suffering a significant spinal injury while in police custody.
The woman physically accosted her son as the protests went on around them, admonishing him for attempting to partake in the violent demonstrations.
“You want to be out here doing this?! Get the [expletive] over here! Get over here now!” she screamed, a local ABC news reported.
Police Commissioner Anthony Watts heaped praise on the woman, saying more parents should be as involved in their children’s lives, Mediaite reported Tuesday.

'Just call them n*****s': Baltimore city councilman lashes out at CNN anchor for referring to rioters as thugs
A Baltimore city councilman has lashed out furiously against an CNN anchor who called rioters 'thugs.'
'Just call them n*****s,' Carl Stoke wryly told CNN's Erin Bernett live on air.
Before asking Stokes what he thought about the word, Burnett pointed out that Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and President Barack Obama had both chosen to use the word.
After mentioning the mayor had been criticized, Burnett asked, 'Isn’t it the right word?'
Stokes first responded: 'No, of course it’s not the right word to call our children thugs.
'These are children who have been set aside, marginalized, who have not been engaged by us.
'No. We don’t have to call them thugs.'

A look at the 6 officers charged in Freddie Gray's death

BALTIMORE (AP) - Six officers are charged in Freddie Gray's death from injuries he suffered while in police custody. State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby says the officers repeatedly failed to get Gray medical treatment after his arrest. The police officers union has said they are not responsible for Gray's death.
Here is a look at each of the six officers.
OFFICER CAESAR GOODSON
Goodson was the driver of the van that transported Freddie Gray, and he faces the most serious charges. Mosby said Friday that Goodson repeatedly failed - a total of five times - to seatbelt Gray in the transport vehicle. Overall, Goodson faces six charges, including "second-degree depraved heart murder," which carries a potential 30-year sentence.
Goodson, 45, has been on the force since 1999. Friends describe him as a family man who likes to watch football and works part time as an auto mechanic at a shop specializing in Saabs. With help, he restored a green Saab convertible, a car one friend says he only takes out a few times a year. He wasn't scheduled to work on the day Gray was arrested but had been asked to work overtime, friends said.
A friend who worked with him as a mechanic said Goodson had hoped to retire in several years.

OBAMA THROWS BALTIMORE POLICE UNDER BUS
President Obama spoke – at last – about the madcap situation in Baltimore on Tuesday, but rather than telling protesters to go home, as analysts and peaceful residents alike wanted, he seemed to throw the police under the bus and fault them for the crisis and chaos that’s tearing through the city streets.
He said, in a televised statement: “We have seen too many instances of what appears to be police officers interacting with individuals, primarily African Americans, often poor, in ways that raise troubling questions. And it comes up it seems like once a week now, or every couple weeks. And so I think it’s understandable that, and more importantly moms and dads across the country, saying this is a crisis.”
Obama also went on to say the situation in Baltimore is indicative of “a slow rolling crisis” that’s “been going on a long time,” only coming to light because of social media campaigns and alert observers with cameras who shed light on police behaviors.

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Reverend Al Sharpton has come to Baltimore, calling for non-violence. He says we should be fighting the violence and not adding to it.
Meghan McCorkell has more.
Sharpton says he understands the frustration but says it won’t help. He also had some harsh words for Governor Larry Hogan.
“The cheap shots that the governor used about the mayor–a new governor who’s never had to deal with police,” Sharpton said.

About that Baltimore mom …
The Baltimore police commissioner, Anthony Batts, praised this mom, saying she was “embarrassed” that her son was participating in the Baltimore rioting.
Is it embarrassment? Or anguish? The fact is, no one really knows (yet). Frankly, I watched this video and got upset. I am upset at the fact that she feels she has to hit him to get a point across — a feeling that I’m sure is justified. Like life-and-death justified.
I have frustrations as a parent. But my frustrations are comparably laughable.
