Justin Bieber caught using N-word while telling racist joke
Justin Bieber faced a backlash from his fans yesterday after footage emerged of him telling a racist joke.
In a clip his PR people tried to suppress, the then 15-year-old singer was filmed saying the N-word five times.
He asked: ‘Why are black people afraid of chainsaws?’ before making the noise of a chainsaw and concluding the joke with ‘Run n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****.’

Video: Staind Frontman Loses It in the Middle of a Concert After Allegedly Seeing Something Very Disturbing Happening in the Crowd
Editor’s Note: This story and video contains very strong language that will be offensive to some readers.
During a Saturday concert in Kansas City, Staind frontman Aaron Lewis put his band’s performance on hold to go off on audience members who were allegedly touching a teenage girl inappropriately as she crowd-surfed. The singer’s explosive rant was captured on video.
“Alright, listen up, you f***ing a**holes,” Lewis began after stopping the show in the middle of a song. “That f***ing girl right there is, like, 15 f***ing years old, and you f***ing pieces of s**t are molesting her while she’s on the f***ing crowd.”
He then told the alleged offenders that their mothers “should be ashamed of themselves.”

Female-named Hurricanes Kill More Than Male Hurricanes Because People Don’t Respect Them, Study Finds
People don’t take hurricanes as seriously if they have a feminine name and the consequences are deadly, finds a new groundbreaking study.
Storms with female names have historically killed more people because they neither consider them as risky nor take the same precautions, the study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concludes.
Researchers at the University of Illinois and Arizona State University examined six decades of hurricane death rates according to gender, spanning 1950 and 2012. Of the 47 most damaging hurricanes, the male-named hurricane produced an average of 23 deaths compared to 45 deaths for female-named hurricanes, or almost double the number of fatalities. (The study excluded Katrina and Audrey, outlier storms that would skew the model).

The Velocity Of Money In The U.S. Falls To An All-Time Record Low
When an economy is healthy, there is lots of buying and selling and money tends to move around quite rapidly. Unfortunately, the U.S. economy is the exact opposite of that right now. In fact, as I will document below, the velocity of M2 has fallen to an all-time record low. This is a very powerful indicator that we have entered a deflationary era, and the Federal Reserve has been attempting to combat this by absolutely flooding the financial system with more money. This has created some absolutely massive financial bubbles, but it has not fixed what is fundamentally wrong with our economy. On a very basic level, the amount of economic activity that we are witnessing is not anywhere near where it should be and the flow of money through our economy is very stagnant. They can try to mask our problems with happy talk for as long as they want, but in the end it will be clearly evident that none of the long-term trends that are destroying our economy have been addressed.
Discussions about the money supply can get very complicated, and that can cause people to tune out, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
To put it very basically, when there is lots of economic activity, there is lots of money changing hands.
When there is not very much economic activity, the pace at which money circulates through our system slows down.
That is why what is happening in the U.S. right now is so troubling.

Tool Can Plug Gunshot Wounds In Seconds
You can find many things in Williams-Sonoma, the kitchenware retailer.
Cookie sheets. Spatulas. And, oh yeah, an idea for treating gunshot wounds.
At least, that's what RevMedx found.
The U.S. military had asked the medical technology company to come up with a solution for stopping gunshot and shrapnel wounds from bleeding out. The working idea was a medical version of Fix-a-Flat, the foam you squirt in punctured tires to plug up a hole. (Perhaps the military had been browsing at Pep Boys.)
Instead, it was a sponge that solved the problem, says Andrew Barofsky, RevMedx's CEO.

'Bowe Bergdahl deserted and Americans lost their lives'
Not everyone is welcoming Bowe Bergdahl home with open arms. Some of the men who served with the Taliban POW believe that he deserted his post. And they say six American soldiers died because of his actions.
Bergdahl's release, brokered with the Taliban in exchange for five Guantanamo detainees, has ignited fury in some corners of the U.S. military community and re-opened old wounds.
'Bowe Bergdahl deserted during a time of war and his fellow Americans lost their lives searching for him,' former Sergeant Matt Vierkant told CNN.
A former superior of the 28-year-old soldier, Greg Leatherman, said he hopes the military investigates Bergdahl and questions whether he did, indeed, desert his post in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009.

Bergdahl Deal Could Be First Step to Emptying Gitmo
Now that President Obama has proven Congress can’t stop him from releasing terrorists, the administration could be primed to empty out the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
President Obama released five Taliban leaders from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility on Saturday without consulting Congress and without strict assurances that the militants won’t somehow return to the fight. Republicans on Capitol Hill worry that the swap of these Taliban leaders for American hostage Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is a prelude to a bigger move—the emptying out of Guantanamo entirely.
In his 2014 State of the Union address, Obama promised to shutter the prison built on Cuban soil by the end of the year. Obama now has seven months to fulfill his latest promise to shut down Guantanamo—or come as close to it as he can. During that time, Congress will be unable to prevent the release of the 149 prisoners still there.

Two Rescued From Ocean This Afternoon, One Hospitalized
The official release from the Ocean City Beach Patrol on this afternoon's rescue.
"A quiet afternoon on the beach took an alarming turn today as several first responders searched the water for a missing swimmer. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Ocean City Communications reported a water rescue in progress.
According to the initial report, three swimmers entered the ocean in the area of 137th street and were caught in a reported rip current. An Ocean City Beach Patrol Surf Rescue Technician was the first to enter the water, quickly rescuing two of the swimmers. The third swimmer, whose name is not being released, was unable to be immediately located.
In all, 15 rescue swimmers from the town’s Beach Patrol and Fire Department responded and were eventually able to locate the victim. Also helping in the rescue were Maryland State Police Trooper 4 and the United States’ Coast Guard personnel. ARTICULATE LIBERAL ATTACKS OBAMA
Some years ago, the University of Nebraska asked our firm to help build a crowd for a debate between William Rusher, the publisher of the conservative National Review Magazine, and Nat Hentoff, of the liberal The Village Voice.
While William Rusher and William F. Buckley, Jr. and National Review, were already familiar, it was only necessary to read a few back issues of The Village Voice to understand that Nat Hentoff was (and is) one of the world's most articulate liberals. We filled the auditorium; however, we didn't know what to expect. Would the debaters be civil or uncivil?
More than civil, they listened respectfully to what the other had to say. The audience was treated to the best ideas that both conservatism and liberalism had to offer in an atmosphere of respect and even genuine friendship between the two icons of their differing points of view.
Unfortunately, in April, 2012, Mr. Rusher went to his Eternal rest. Fortunately, Mr. Hentoff is still with us and continues to give voice to liberal causes. But what brings this particular column about is that Mr. Hentoff, the consummate left-winger, has just called for the impeachment of President Obama, saying that Mr. Obama is the most dangerous and destructive president ever and is far worse than Mr. Hentoff's former target, President Richard Nixon.
Mr. Hentoff says Mr. Obama has thrown the U.S. Constitution under the bus and is ruling as a dictator. As evidence, Hentoff cites Mr. Obama's delay of the employer mandate in ObamaCare, the changing of types of plans available under ObamaCare, ignoring our immigrations laws, refusing to deport illegal immigrants, enacting stricter gun-control measures without Congressional legislation, sealing his presidential records, creating government offices and Czars without authorization, and changing the pay grades of selected federal employees without authority.
For some work-a-day Americans, these burrs under Mr. Hentoff's saddle might seem insignificant; however, one of conservatism's leading voices, St. John's University Professor M. Northrup Buechner, writing in Forbes Magazine on November 19, 2013, saysMr. Obama's unlawful actions could lead to atroubling scenario: "A Republican Congress is elected and repeals ObamaCare over a Democrat President's veto. The President refuses to enforce the repeal. The Supreme Court rules that the President's refusal is unconstitutional. The President denounces the ruling and refuses to be bound by it.
"If the President persists in rejecting all authority other than his own, the Dénouement [outcome] would depend on the side taken by the Armed Forces..."
Writing in The Washington Times on November 12, 2013, Commander J.D. Gordon, USN (Ret.), a former Pentagon spokesman, says "...every week since President Obama took office, we've been hearing that another top leader has been summarily fired, despite decades of loyal service and valuable experience protecting the nation. Statistically speaking, it's actually closer to one every 8.8 days, a staggering 200 military brass shown the door in less than five years.
Thus, one wonders if this Stalin-like purge of generals and admirals is a precautionary step taken by Mr. Obama in advance of a descent into the darkness of a Constitutional crisis.
"Fasten your seat belts, this is going to be a bumpy flight."

Pentagon Wrestles With False Climate Predictions As Military Funds Shifted To Green Agenda
Ten years ago, the Pentagon paid for a climate study that put forth many scary scenarios.
Consultants told the military that, by now, California would be flooded by inland seas, The Hague would be unlivable, polar ice would be mostly gone in summer, and global temperatures would rise at an accelerated rate as high as 0.5 degrees a year.
Yet the 2003 report, “An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications for United States National Security,” is credited with kick-starting the movement that, to this day and perhaps with more vigor than ever, links climate change to national security.

Fact Check: Clinton’s Benghazi chapter has holes
Excerpts of Hillary Clinton's forthcoming memoir obtained by Politico conflict with the factual record about what happened during and after the 2012 Benghazi terror attack.
Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., who sits on the newly formed Benghazi select committee and the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News before the excerpts were released that he is concerned the administration has not fully grasped the impact of the terrorist assault.
"We know that intelligence analysts on the ground knew instantaneously that this was Al Qaeda and its affiliates who had led this attack. And yet it took an awfully long time -- indeed today, it's still not clear this administration has acknowledged the depth and the risks associated with what it means to have an Al Qaeda affiliate actually take down an American [consulate]," he said.
In the limited excerpts published Friday from Clinton’s Benghazi chapter, the former secretary of State continued to defend the administration from what she termed a “political slugfest.”

Is Teaching American History Racist?
A white Michigan middle school teacher remains suspended two weeks after he was placed an administrative leave.
His crime?
Teaching history.
Alan Barron was teaching his eighth-grade class about the history of racial segregation when he showed a video featuring blackface.
The video was historical, showing how white Americans used blackface to mockingly imitate black people as part of a broader social scheme of repression — but a school administrator sitting in on the class found it inappropriate, and Barron was suspended the next day.
He was only a month from retirement, having served 36 years with the school district.

Chili's and Sonic join Chipotle as latest chains to ban guns
'We recognize that the open carry of firearms creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws,' Ashley Johnson, a spokeswoman for Chili's' parent company, Brinker International, said in an email to the Huffington Post. 'So, we kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.'
A spokesperson for Sonic told the website that it will follow all laws allowing restaurant patrons to store guns in their vehicles if they choose to dine at one of their restaurants - which are primarily drive-up patios - but they don't want weapons outside of the vehicles.
'We’re asking that customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas,' Patrick Lenow, Sonic's vice president of public relations, told the website.
Johnson suggested that the two chains coordinated to set a common gun policy, saying 'When issues like this happen, we always talk to others in the industry to get their perspective.'

Giving Afghanistan War Dogs A New Purpose
WASHINGTON -- It was graduation day for a few tough pups. These war heroes, once precious guides for Marines in Afghanistan, will now be fighting crime locally in Prince George's County.
On Friday morning at the police department's Special Operations Division in Riverdale, six former military bomb dogs graduated after eight weeks of training as the Basic EOD (Explosive Ordnance Detection) Canine Class 14-01.
"It's an honor to say six K9s are graduating: Shaggy, Slick, Ringo, Razz, Bill and Kane. They have served this country with great heroism in the United States Marine Corps as IED detection K9s," says Corporal Jeff Walden with Prince George's Police K9 Unit. He was the head trainer for the new graduating class of bomb dogs for the county.

Baker who refused order from gay couple told he can't discriminate
A Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple because of religious beliefs has been told by the Civil Rights Commission that he can't discriminate against customers.
The state's commission has told Jack Phillips that his religious objections to same-sex weddings did not trump Colorado's anti-discrimination statues.
The unanimous ruling upheld an administrative law judge's finding in December that Phillips violated civil rights law when he refused an order from a gay couple in 2012, who later sued.

Toddler critically burned during SWAT raid
ATLANTA — The mother of the toddler injured after a flashbang was thrown into the home where their family was staying told Channel 2 Action News Friday morning that the boy remains in a medically-induced coma.
UPDATE:DA to investigate SWAT raid
“He is in a medically induced coma and he is paralyzed. I hope he’s not going to remember this. I know his sisters, his mommy and his daddy will never forget this," the boy's mother, Alecia Phonesavanh, said. "Our kids have been through enough this year. This is just more trauma that they didn’t need, and I just wish there was something better I could do to make it better for him. Wrong place, wrong time. There’s nothing I can do about it."
The family's home in Wisconsin recently burned down, prompting their trip to Atlanta to visit family.
“There’s nothing we can do to change the situation, my husband and I would gladly both give up our lives just to see him not like this. He’s such a happy little boy, and to see him like this laying there, not moving, it’s heartbreaking. We just want to hold him and we can’t," Phonesavanh said.

Bummer: Fast Food Place Robbed Same Day It Went Gun Free
Serendipity is a stone cold mother, isn’t it?
(Daily Caller) On the same day that Sonic, an Oklahoma City-based fast food chain, issued a statement against customers carrying guns at their restaurants, an employee at the company’s Topeka, Kan. store was robbed.
According to Topeka police, two males robbed a carhop on Friday afternoon, reports the Topeka Capitol-Journal. Sonic is unique among major fast food eateries in that it provides customers the option of having carhops bring orders to their vehicle.
While police said no guns were displayed by the robbers, the crime follows a new policy that the Oklahoma City-based company issued Friday.
“We’ve considered the views and desires of our customers and employees that staff the drive-ins across the country,” the company said, according to USA Today. “Accordingly, we’re asking that customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas. With respect to the storage of guns in vehicles, we ask that our customers continue to honor local laws.”

New EPA rules could burn coal state Democrats
It’s not just electric companies and coal miners bracing for the Obama administration’s announcement Monday of tough rules to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from America’s roughly 600 coal-fired power plants, rules designed to cut U.S. power plant emissions by nearly a third in the next 15 years.
Democratic candidates and the party’s campaign organizations have positioned themselves carefully in anticipation of more stringent emissions standards that will thrill the party’s environmentalist base but cause political headaches for Democrats facing tough challenges in states that produce coal or rely heavily on coal to generate electricity.

BREAKING NEWS: Wor Wic President Ray Hoy Finalist at Del-Tech
I am writing to inform you that I am a finalist for the presidency of Delaware Technical Community College. This was an unexpected opportunity that required a great deal of thought and consideration. You may be aware that Delaware Technical is a four campus institution with the central administration located in Dover. Most of my family, including all four our grandchildren, live in Dover and just across the border in Kent County, Maryland. Donna and I have always intended to move to the Dover community when I retire in order to be closer to the family. But, I’m not ready to retire anytime soon. So, this opportunity is one that really makes sense for us.
I also want you to understand that if I am not selected, I am not otherwise in the job market and I have no intention of considering other openings. It is just that this position presents the prospect of being closer to our family and offers an undeniable opportunity for natural progression in my career at another very successful, but larger, institution.
Part of the search process includes contacting people at our institution and in the community. Even though the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) consultants urge that this is a confidential process, word tends to get out. As you know, I have always been open and forthright in my dealings with you. Even though this is a very personal decision that I would have liked to remain totally confidential, my concern is that some will learn of this. Rather than let word spread that way, I feel it is only appropriate that you hear it from me.
I continue to be committed to the success of Wor-Wic and it is very possible that we will spend years here together supporting the college and our community. The other candidate is an internal candidate, a graduate of Delaware Technical Community College who has solid credentials. So, it is certainly not inevitable that I will be leaving for this position. The board will be making their decision based on who is the best fit for their institution at this time.
I am sorry for any disruption that this may cause for Wor-Wic. Fortunately, the Delaware Technical Community College Board of Trustees intends to make its decision by June 17th, so none of us will have very long to wait.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Ray

Widespread Memorial Day Black Violence Ignored by National Media
Black Beach Week used to get all the glory: Every Memorial Day weekend, 300,000 black people gathered in Miami Beach to get their freak on. And also create a tsunami of violence, robbery, shootings, carjackings, vandalism, mayhem, noise and trash.
But this year, many party-goers complained that Black Beach Week -- only reporters call it “Urban Beach Week” -- just wasn’t as much fun any more: Too many cops, tactical vehicles, helicopters, lights, towers, cameras, suspicion. Not enough chaos.
Not to worry: The rest of the country picked up the slack. Black mob violence over the holiday weekend was reported in more than a dozen cities around the country. Some fatal. Some comical, almost.
Let’s take a tour, starting with Cincinnati: Four days after scattered reports of black mob violence during the Memorial Day Taste of Cincinnati, local police and media are just now starting to figure out how bad it was.

Supreme Court could deliver crippling blow to Big Labor
In the first year since the Wolverine State adopted a right-to-work law in 2013, SEIU Healthcare Michigan lost a staggering 80 percent of its members.
The case illustrates a dirty secret of the modern labor movement: A lot of its rank and file members don't want to be in a union in the first place and will leave if given the chance.
What right to work did in Michigan, the Supreme Court might soon do nationally: In the case ofHarris v. Quinn, the justices must decide if Illinois state government can force its own public sector employees to participate in a union. If the ruling is "no," that could effectively extend right-to-work laws to all public sector employees.

Negotiating With Terrorists: Inside the Capture and Release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl
U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has been released from captivity. That’s the good news. Every American and every freedom-loving person in the world should rejoice. The reunion with his family will be a major media moment and a major moment for the president. The bad news is that President Obama has now placed a target on the back of every single American – civilian and military alike.
For more than 200 years, the United States has had a policy of not trading prisoners for American hostages. That policy has been shredded and international travel to even cities like London, Paris, and Amsterdam will now pose an exceptional danger for Americans.
And as Americans, we must all ask: at what price was Sgt. Bergdahl’s freedom purchased?

New Russia/China Gas Deal Is Beginning of the End For US Petrodollar Dominance
Daily Bell: How are things?
Ron Holland: Well, I'm on the beach in the Caribbean today as I respond to the interview questions so for me, personally, like the Zac Brown Band sings in their hit song, "Toes", "I got my toes in the water, *ss in the sand not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand. Life is good today, life is good today." But I fear the economic future, especially for Americans, is an entirely different story. Actually, earlier this week an event took place of paradigm shift proportions that will likely destroy the dollar as the world reserve currency over the coming decade. Of course, it was not covered by the mainstream media and even missed by much of the alternative media but this historic Russia/China gas deal totally outside the dollar is the beginning of the end for the petrodollar system. ZeroHedge did publish an article explaining this deal that I would recommend for anyone wanting a more thorough understanding, entitled "Russia and China Finally Sign Historic $500 Billion 'Holy Grail' Gas Deal." Over time this will translate into a dramatically lower standard of living in America along with at least a 50% depreciation in the dollar. I fear the long-term catastrophic financial impact on the US dollar and your wealth will dwarf anything that has happened during most of our lifetimes. You can expect violence, property destruction and the end of all civil liberties and constitutional protections for a long period of time. When world reserve currencies are replaced and major empires die, it is not the end of the world but history shows it will be the end of the world we've known for much of our life in the United States. I believe America will bounce back and the situation will not be permanent but it will be severe for those who have not prepared in advance. Washington's response will be much higher taxes and placing a financial iron curtain around America to keep your assets available for confiscation should the need arise. This includes a future emergency wealth tax plus possible gold and retirement plan asset confiscation or forced investment into a future collapsing Treasury market. But with crisis and disruption also comes opportunity for those aware of what is happening, both bad and good. Remember the old adage, "Invest where there is blood in the streets"? Well, the dollar collapse will not be a quick event and it will ebb and flow depending on many factors but I'm sure America will have blood in the streets and the only question is severity and duration. Hence the reason I'm down here in beautiful Ambergris Caye, Belize on the beach with a beer. But contrary to the song lyrics, this trip is not about pretty señoritas or tequila and I can't play the guitar, nor will I "roll me a big fat one" today – though on that note, I do believe cannabis legalization for medical and recreational use will likely be the biggest positive equity market story of the coming decade. Actually, I'm down here searching for an offshore escape hatch for Americans because the new Russia/China Axis is the biggest negative dollar and financial event for the United States at least since the Great Depression. I've found several excellent locations in Central and South America as well as domestically while doing research for my new book, Safe Haven, that will be out very soon. Belize tops my list for beach-based, second home, safe-haven communities at prices 40% lower than most Caribbean islands. Colombia, in South America, is also an interesting situation. Click here for more information specifically on Belize where I'm visiting today. Email me at rholland [at] eastnet.ch for a complimentary copy of the new book when available and complete guide for safe-haven opportunities to escape what is coming.

Current Measles Outbreak The Worst U.S. Has Seen In 14 Years
When I was a young cheese-fed sprout growing up, the measles sounded like one of those awfully scary diseases that only people in history books ever came down with. Because I knew enough to know that getting vaccinated against it meant I likely wouldn’t get it. But measles are all the rage again now, or at least cases are climbing to record highs since the disease was eliminated 14 years ago in the U.S.
The current measles outbreak currently infected people in the country is at the highest number of cases in 14 years, with 288 cases of the potentially deadly infection popping up in 18 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday, according to theWashington Post.

Georgia Woman Shoots Home Invaders Posing as Police
On May 29 three people allegedly approached an East Point, Georgia, apartment posing as police officers, "intending to force their way inside" when the woman inside the apartment shot one of the would-be invaders.
According to WSB-TV 2, the renter "cracked the door to take a look outside and that's when police say the three tried to push their way inside."
Police say said that "one of the suspects raised a handgun but the woman fired first," grazing one attacker "on the head and the backside."
The suspects fled, but the wounded one was apprehended.

Minnesota Brewpub Grants Free Beer For Life With $1,000 Investment
What if you could pay only $1,000 and be guaranteed a freshly-poured beer whenever you felt like it? That’s not a feasible deal for most of us, but for early investors in one Minnesota brew pub, that dream has come true.
When three business partners wanted to raise $220,000 to get a bank loan and open up their own restaurant, the Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub in southern Minneapolis, they at first tried to the usual rout of finding investors and offering a voting share in the restaurant, reports The Atlantic’s City Lab.
But those investors didn’t know much about the restaurant business, so they tried a different tactic when friends and family offered up a few grand here and there.

EPA Power-Plant Proposal Will Seek 30% Carbon Dioxide Emissions Cut by 2030
WASHINGTON—The Environmental Protection Agency will propose a draft rule on Monday seeking a 30% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 from existing power plants based on emission levels from 2005, according to two people who have been briefed on the rule, setting in motion the main piece of President Barack Obama's climate-change agenda.
The rule, scheduled to be completed one year from now, will give flexibility to the states, which must implement the rules and submit compliance plans to EPA by June 2016. States can decide how to meet the reductions, including joining or creating new cap-and-trade programs, deploying more renewable energy or ramping up energy-efficiency technologies.
Each state will have different percent reduction standards, and the national average will be 25% by 2020 and 30% by 2030, these people said.

GOVERNOR O’MALLEY ISSUES STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PROPOSAL TO REDUCE CARBON DIOXIDE POLLUTION
ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 2, 2014) -- Governor O’Malley today released the following statement in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement of a proposed rule to reduce carbon dioxide pollution from existing power plants:
“Climate change is transforming the world in profound ways that continue to evolve. We still have time to become great ancestors, and we have a moral obligation to our children and our grandchildren to act now while we can make a difference.
“I congratulate and thank President Obama for his bold leadership. Today’s announcement is the first federal regulatory action to set carbon pollution standards for existing fossil fuel-fired power plants, the largest single source of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.
“Maryland is among the nation’s most vulnerable states to the effects of sea level rise from climate change, and we are taking strong action to reduce carbon pollution. Three of our 16 strategic goals bear on this directly, our goals: to reduce Maryland’s greenhouse gas emissions 25% by 2020; to increase Maryland’s in-state renewable generation to 20% by 2022; and to reduce energy consumption in Maryland 15% by 2015.
“Maryland regulates carbon emissions from power plants through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a partnership with eight other East Coast states. RGGI is a key component of Maryland’s Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and we are pleased to see the federal proposal recognize the value of a regional approach.
“We are already witnessing a transformation in the U.S. economy to increased production of lower carbon energy through fuel switching to natural gas and expansion of wind, solar, geothermal, and other renewable non-carbon intensive energy sources. The President’s proposal will: (1) help us continue to expand our use of renewable sources of energy and reduce harmful air pollution responsible for increased risk of heart and lung disease; (2) give us greater energy security; (3) make important strides in improving public health; and (4) unleash the power of our innovative green economy.
“We must preserve our planet and grow our economy simultaneously. We cannot become more prosperous without the living systems upon which our prosperity depends.”

Middle School Teacher Suspended For Showing Video About White Actors Wearing Blackface
A middle school history teacher in small-town southeastern Michigan has been placed on paid administrative leave because he informed students that white entertainers used to paint their faces black to imitate black people and showed kids a video about it.
The teacher is Alan Barron, reports the Monroe News. The 59-year-old teacher has taught in the local school district for well over three decades and is retiring in just two weeks.
The suspension occurred after an assistant principal observed Barron teaching an eighth-grade class. Barron’s topic for the day was racial segregation laws during the Jim Crow era. The lesson included a video which showed how white actors commonly used theatrical makeup known as blackface — a practice which began in the nineteenth century and lasted over 100 years.
The unidentified assistant principal concluded that Barron’s lesson about how entertainers used to be racist was itself racist, according to the local paper. The assistant principal also apparently ordered that Barron stop the video as it was being played.
Parents with kids at the school have overwhelmingly opposed the suspension.

Hacking Accusations
Tensions are growing between the U.S. and China over accusations of cyber- spying. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will speak with Chinese representatives during a national security conference in Singapore this weekend. The situation involving five Chinese military officers hacking American companies will definitely come up, as will the Chinese government saying the U.S. targeted them in cyber espionage. Secretary Hagel has other matters on his to-do list, though. They will discuss territory disputes in the Pacific theaters, like how China has been strong-arming nations like Vietnam and set up a controversial defense zone over islands controlled by Japan.
NFL NAME CHANGE
Here is an email sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.
Dear Mr. Page...
I always love your articles. and I generally agree with them. I would
suggest, as in an email I received, they change the name to the "Foreskins" to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Congress.
Here are some other politically correct issues to consider: I agree with our Native American population. I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward. Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad
because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.
The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of
militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.
The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives.
I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.
Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!
Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.
The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.
The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates . Wrong message to our children.
The Milwaukee Brewers---well that goes without saying . . . Wrong message to our children.
So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out
to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become
involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the
do-nothing congress loves . . .
As a die hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers."

U.S. Gas Consumption Plummets by Nearly 75%
Regular readers are familiar with my narratives on the U.S. Greater Depression, and (in particular) some of the government’s own charts which depict this economic meltdown most vividly. The collapse in the“civilian participation rate” (the number of people working in the economy) and the “velocity of money”(the heartbeat of the economy) indicate an economy which is not merely in decline, but rather is being sucked downward in a terminal (and accelerating) death-spiral.
However, even that previously published data, and the grim analyses which accompanied it could not prepare me for the horror story contained in data passed along by an alert reader. U.S. “gasoline consumption” – as measured by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) itself – has plummeted by nearly 75%, from its all-time peak in July of 1998. A near-75% collapse in U.S. gasoline consumption has occurred in little more than 15 years.
Before getting into an analysis of the repercussions of this data, however, it’s necessary to properly qualify the data. Obviously, even in the most-nightmarish economic Armageddon, a (relatively short-term) 75% collapse in gasoline consumption is simply not possible. Unless we were dealing with a nation whose economy had been suddenly ripped apart by civil war, or some small nation devastated by a massive earthquake or tsunami; it’s simply not possible for any economy to just disintegrate that rapidly, without there being some ultra-powerful exogenous force also at work.

Big Labor's VA Choke Hold
We know with certainty that there is at least one person the Department of Veterans Affairs is serving well. That would be the president of local lodge 1798 of the National Federation of Federal Employees.
The Federal Labor Relations Authority, the agency that mediates federal labor disputes, earlier this month ruled in favor of this union president, in a dispute over whether she need bother to show up at her workplace—the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. According to FLRA documents, this particular VA employee is 100% "official time"—D.C. parlance for federal employees who work every hour of every work day for their union, at the taxpayer's expense.
In April 2012, this, ahem, VA "employee" broke her ankle and declared that she now wanted to do her nonwork for the VA entirely from the comfort of her home. Veterans Affairs attempted a compromise: Perhaps she could, pretty please, come in two days a week? She refused, and complained to the FLRA that the VA was interfering with her right to act as a union official. The VA failed to respond to the complaint in the required time (perhaps too busy caring for actual veterans) and so the union boss summarily won her case.

Shortage Of Fishing Poles

Food For Thought
If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally, you live in a country run by idiots.
If you have to get your parents' permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion, you live in a country run by idiots.
If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote on who runs the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more " safe" according to the government, you live in a country run by idiots.
If you are offended by this article, you probably voted for the idiots who are running our country into the ground.
‘High risk’ label from feds puts gun sellers in banks’ crosshairs, hurts business
Obama plan pressures financial institutions
Gun retailers say the Obama administration is trying to put them out of business with regulations and investigations that bypass Congress and choke off their lines of credit, freeze their assets and prohibit online sales.
Since 2011, regulators have increased scrutiny on banks’ customers. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 2011 urged banks to better manage the risks of their merchant customers who employ payment processors, such as PayPal, for credit card transactions. The FDIC listed gun retailers as “high risk” along with porn stores and drug paraphernalia shops.

CHEMTRAILS: A Chemical Assault On People And Chemical Trespass of Property
Legality of Chemtrails Hotly Debated in Florida
State of the Nation is very pleased to announce a recent development in the State of Florida regarding the ongoing chemtrail debate. The recent evolution of this debate is not whether chemtrails exist; rather, the discussion in Florida is whether such chemical assaults are legal under the rubric of international law.
“If the International Criminal Court moves on these charges, it would be a historic moment in the use of criminal laws to protect individuals from exposure to toxic chemicals by government contractors and corporations.”
This ongoing legal discussion about the criminal nature of secretly chemtrailing the skies of the USA is an extraordinary success for the Chemtrail Truth Movement. The legal theory revolves around two facts: (i) legally mandated disclosure of the various chemical ingredients of the chemtrail aerosols is not provided to those who are severely impacted and (ii) those same ingredients have been proven to cause bodily injury and emotional injury to those who are most sprayed and susceptible to their deleterious effects.

Eight State Alliance Releases Plan To Put 3.3 Million Zero Emission Vehicles On The Road
Eight states on the East and West Coasts today released a collaborative action plan to develop the infrastructure, coordinated policies, codes and standards and a consumer market primed to put 3.3 million zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) on the road by 2025. The Multi-State ZEV Action Plan is the first promised milestone for the bi-coastal collaboration, an effort to pave the way for increasingly large numbers of the cleanest cars in the nation.
Collaboration is critical
The partner states are California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont. Together they account for more than one quarter of the nation’s new car sales.
“This collaborative effort is an important step forward to ensure the success of our zero-emission vehicle programs. Transitioning our light duty transportation fleet to zero emission vehicles is essential if we are to achieve our long term air quality and climate goals,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “Implementation of the action plan will support the arrival of more than 3 million zero emission vehicles in our states by 2025 and serve as a roadmap for a healthier, more sustainable transportation sector on both coasts. ”

How to stop Pa. from allowing even MORE air pollution by Ray Wallace
Like the Lancaster-York-Harrisburg-Lebanon area of Pennsylvania:
Delaware County recently received an F grade for High Ozone Days in the American Lung Association’s “2014 State of the Air Report.” So, it is particularly troubling that the state Department of Environmental Protection is working to turn back the clock on an important air pollution requirement.
In Pennsylvania, most power plants already have an effective, modern pollution-control technology known as selective catalytic reduction. However, under the DEP’s new proposed rule “Additional Reasonable Available Control Technology Requirements for Major Sources of NOx and VOCs,” power plants will be allowed to use older, less efficient and less effective technologies to control their emissions.
The Department of Environmental Protection should require the most effective technology to control NOx and VOC’s, otherwise our ozone problem will worsen and people with respiratory illnesses will become sicker. The proposed plan for “Additional Reasonable Available Control Technology Requirements for Major Sources of NOx and VOCs” ensures that Delaware County, and the surrounding areas, will continue to receive an F rating for high ozone days and citizens will suffer. We should not tolerate an F-.

Celebrating Maryland Green Schools
This has been a productive year for our state’s teachers and students in environmental education and today we honor our progress while looking to the future. Earlier today, I joined students and educators at the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education’s Green School Youth Summit, held in Sandy Point State Park.
This event gave us the opportunity to congratulate 58 new Maryland Green Schools, 73 schools that have been recertified to maintain their green status, and the 3 schools that have achieved the Sustained Green School Award. Since 1999, 468 Maryland schools have received the Maryland Green Flag, making our State a leader in sustainability by incorporating green practices into the classroom and tackling environmental projects in their communities and neighborhoods.
The green culture that educators, parents, staff, and community partners are establishing in our schools provides students with a pathway to college and future career success, while working to fulfill Maryland’s Environmental Literacy graduation requirement. Our graduation requirement is the first of its kind in the nation and an important step in ensuring that our students become savvy, healthy and productive members of our evolving green economy.
One example of this work in action: In 2013, we launched Explore and Restore your SchoolShed, through which teachers use local streams and creeks as outdoor classrooms, and connect hands-on learning to disciplines beyond science, such as language arts or social studies. Students learn about water quality and the importance of healthy streams, as well as the ways their own actions can improve their local environment. More than 100 schools are now participating across the State, and more schools are encouraged to join.

Lowering Hospital Bills by Reducing Uncompensated Care
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) ushered in a number of important reforms: insurance companies can no longer deny care to someone because of a preexisting condition; they can’t drop someone if he or she gets sick; and children can now stay on their parents’ plan until age 26. The Affordable Care Act was also designed to expand access to affordable and quality health coverage, and to reduce the significant cost-shifting that drove up health care costs pre-ACA.
Before the ACA, people who didn’t have insurance—and who couldn’t afford to pay out-of-pocket—would show up to hospitals for care. Hospitals would then shift the huge costs they incurred from providing uncompensated care onto the rest of us via higher bills. As more people are insured because of the ACA, fewer people without insurance will show up to the hospital in need of care. Reducing uncompensated care will mean fewer costs that have to be passed on to everyone else, and that will mean lower hospital bills.
We know that more than 330,000 Marylanders have enrolled in coverage since January 1 (exceeding our goal of 260,000). We received some early data in March to show that uncompensated care already was on the decline in Maryland. And yesterday, we received even more data: for the first quarter of 2014, hospitals saw 62% fewer charity cases and 24% fewer self-pay cases, compared to the first quarter of 2013.
Maryland’s unique system of setting hospital rates means that less uncompensated care translates directly into lower hospital bills. Officials on the rate setting commission said they plan to take 1% off of their planned rate adjustment in July because of a reduction in uncompensated care. There is now optimism that rates could be driven down even farther.
Tom Mullen, the widely respected CEO of Mercy Medical Center, summed the news up this way to the Baltimore Sun: “It’s very positive. Having more people covered is good. In Maryland, everyone benefits.”
