Coming home from work last night I saw close to 20 police cars all with lights flashing on Main Street Salisbury at Burnett White tire, does anyone know what was happening? I haven't seen any info on robberies or shootings.

Does Salisbury even have 20 police cars? I doubt they would have 20 officers on duty at night. Are you sure you are not exaggerating?
Look the volunteers had a fire, but it wasn't in Salisbury so that doesn't count. It was in Parsonsburg.
ReplyDeleteAgain they don't need 60 paid fireman. Especially paid fireman taking calls in Parsonsburg at the expense of the tax payers in Salisbury's city limits.
Get rid of the paid fireman and let the volunteers handle the fire calls. EMS can be a separate entity in the city just like the police department is. At least the ambulances can be self sufficient with it's billing service.
Volunteer firefighters cant handle anything if they fail to get the equipment out. Do you listen to your scanner at the alarming rate these stations are re-alerted and sometimes never get out. Wake up and be glad you have a combination fire department with paid and volunteers serving you.
ReplyDelete5:07 is correct. Studies have shown that split (paid/vol) fire septs lead to less active volunteers and it gets worse as time goes on. The theory is that knowing there are paid back-up fire fighters, volunteers are less driven the volunteer and that volunteers eventually feel taken advantage of by the community since they devote their time without compensation. Just saying.

I would be elated to have a 100% fully volunteer fire company in Salisbury. I would feel safer and my wallet would feel heavier.
5:07 is a paid fireman and we all know that paid fireman don't live in the city and pay taxes so they have no say in the matter. They need to be sent packing and take that overweight, wannabe FAR Cheef with them.
This list posted daily clears proves there is no need for a 24 hour paid fire crew.
ReplyDeleteTax dollars are paying over 60 paid firemen to sleep every single night and chase ambulances all day long to justify their jobs.
Please tell me what the courts are going to say when the City of Salisbury and the Fire Department gets sued when they run over someone or gets into a serious accident responding to an ambulance call that they weren't dispatched on?
I love how all the paid firemen get on here with all their "What if" justifications for running on calls they aren't needed on. However, I never see them mentioning a "What if" they run over a small child chasing their ball into the street.
4:44 Some were Sheriff department and six were plain cars, possibly MSP. I've never seen that many cars except for armed robberies or a shooting. Unless you've seen a cluster of police respond to a bank robbery you don't usually see that many police cars coming out of the woodwork. There was one plain car that went around me to get up that hill where Arby's is on RT 50 to spot light that old graveyard area behind Lowershore and another plain car doing the same around Wi Sr campus.
ReplyDeleteoops make that Wi Jr campus
