Suspisious Activity Near The Zoo In Salisbury
Just so others are more aware. Please be safe out there especially with your kids. This happened earlier today around 1pm...
My husband, son, a friend of ours and I were going to walk around the zoo for a little while since it was nice outside. We were walking by Ben’s Red Swings playground towards the zoo entrance, and our 2-year old was holding his dad’s hand, our friend was walking right with them, and I was about 2 feet away just looking around at everything. A teenaged girl about 15-17 years old walked up to my husband and told him that our son’s “mom” was calling for him, and his name was Carter so she was going to take the baby to her. My husband said that it was definitely his son and our friend confirmed. The girl said that his mom needed him (my husband said no i’t his son again) and she was taking him, and reached for our son. As she did, our son tried to back away from her and his dad was picking him up. As soon as our son was picked up by my husband, he turned his other shoulder to her, and she tried to grab him again. Our friend got between the girl and my husband and son as I was coming around them. I grabbed her by her wrists, definitely harder than I realized (and was told that I pinned her up against the fence, which I didn’t realize at the time because I was in defense mode) and yelled at her “No, that’s my son.” Only then did she back off and said “Sorry, I didn’t realize you were his mom,” and ran away to the parking lot faster than anyone I’ve seen before. If she really was trying to help a mom find a child, she would have known what the child looked like (no other kid looked even remotely looked like him), would have run back into the playground (where she said the “mom” was), and would have realized her “mistake” sooner. We also looked around after she took off to see if anyone was missing a child that they were looking for, wanting to help if it was a misunderstanding. She intentionally targeted my husband because she did not realize his mom was already there, and people would have most likely defended her in taking my child because she was a plain looking teenager, and a female. We have made a police report. The girl that tried to take our son was about 5’3’’, white, glasses, thin build, and had short frizzy light brown hair. After all of this happened, another one of our friends was at the playground yesterday and gave me her description before I told him exactly what she looked like, and she was there the day before with a skinny, mixed, male. They were sitting at the playground looking around, and had no child(ren) with them. This is unfortunately common tactic used for human trafficking, which has become a really bad problem in this area.

Someone should do an article on your blog about all the traffic changes in the park. It's a total mess what Jake Day has done. And will be from here on as events occur in the park, like the band concerts, etc.
Can Someone Tell Me Where County Executive Bob Culver Is?
I can tell you that Executive Culver WAS involved in this photo shoot but for some reason, (BUDGET) he was removed and this image was published instead.
It's pretty damn sad when the very people who work for you choose to disrespect you simply because they disagree. Of course you'll see Jake Day, (the yes man) included and published.
Because Bob Culver is a LEADER and not a follower, he's retaliated against while the States Attorneys Office shows their true colors. Keep up the good work Bob. You have the toughest job in the County and obviously you're not going to be liked by all. Welcome to my world.

Cory Booker introduces Senate bill on slavery reparations
Sen. Cory Booker on Monday introduced a bill that would study the possibility of reparations for descendants of slaves, embracing a push that recently has caught the interest of fellow 2020 Democratic presidential candidates.
The senator from New Jersey said Monday that “this bill is a way of addressing head-on the persistence of racism, white supremacy, and implicit racial bias in our country. It will bring together the best minds to study the issue and propose solutions that will finally begin to right the economic scales of past harms and make sure we are a country where all dignity and humanity is affirmed.”
The measure is a Senate companion to a bill introduced in the House of Representatives in January by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas, which if passed into law would set up a commission to study the impact of slavery and continued discrimination against black Americans and make recommendations on reparation proposals for the descendants of slaves. The legislation was first introduced 30 years ago by then-Rep. John Conyers of Michigan.

Georgetown students could approve first slavery reparations fund in the U.S.
Georgetown University students are voting Thursday on a proposed student fee that would fund reparations for descendants of slaves once sold by the school. If it is passed and implemented by Georgetown, it would be the first reparations policy at any major institution in America.
The referendum would add a fee of $27.20 to be paid by every Georgetown undergraduate once a semester. A new board of trustees would allocate those funds to the descendants of the "GU272" — the 272 slaves Georgetown sold in 1838 to boost the university's finances. There are an estimated 4,000 living descendants of those enslaved people.
Students for GU272, a student group supporting the vote, calls it "an unprecedented opportunity for us to come together and take action and responsibility as a Georgetown community." Other elite universities — including Harvard and Yale — have confronted their historic ties to slavery, but never before has there been a student-led fund for reparations. The vote is online and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

234 HOUSE DEMOCRATS, TWO REPUBLICANS CO-SPONSOR BILL FORCING SCHOOLS TO LET MALE ATHLETES COMPETE ON GIRLS’ SPORTS TEAMS
Every House Democrat but one has co-sponsored a bill requiring schools to allow male athletes who identify as transgender girls to compete on female sports teams.
Democrats’ Equality Act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law. Among other things, the bill would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls.
Sarah Warbelow, director of the left-wing Human Rights Campaign, praised the bill’s impact on high school sports in written testimony submitted to a House subcommittee on Tuesday.
“Opponents of equality in athletics for transgender athletes have argued that girls who are transgender have unfair physiological advantages over cisgender girls and as a result, will dominate women’s competitive sports,” Warbelow wrote, calling it not “rooted in fact” that biologically male athletes will outperform their female counterparts.

JUST IN: Md. man charged in plot to kill pedestrians in National Harbor
A Maryland man inspired by the Islamic State terror network allegedly planned to ram a truck into "disbelievers" at a popular tourist spot and keep "driving and driving and driving" nonstop, U.S. officials said Monday.
Rondell Henry, 28, of Germantown, was charged by federal prosecutors with interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle -- but officials said more charges could follow.
"Today, the government filed a motion arguing for Henry to be detained pending trial as a flight risk and a danger to the community. Specifically, the government’s detention memo alleges that Henry, who claimed to be inspired by the ISIS terrorist organization, stole a U-Haul van with the intention of using it as a weapon against pedestrians on sidewalks within the National Harbor complex along the Potomac River," the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said.

Walmart doubles down on robots to shift labor costs: "We're going big"
- Walmart said it's adding almost 4,000 robots to its stores and facilities.
- The investment will allow human workers to shift to other tasks that are harder to automate.
- The push into robotics comes as the company has boosted worker wages.
The robots are coming for Walmart workers' jobs, with the retail giant saying it plans to add almost 4,000 robots to its stores and facilities as it seeks to remove human workers from routine tasks like scrubbing floors.
The company said the plan is part of a goal to shift human workers to customer-service roles, such as "engaging with customers," according to a blog post. The new robots include the "Auto-C," which polishes floors, and the FAST Unloader, which scans and sorts items unloaded from delivery trucks.
The investment in automation comes as the retail giant has pledged to boost worker wages, pledging $2.7 billion over two years to boost pay as well as training and education. Robots, while requiring an initial investment, promise lower labor costs because they don't require benefits, while they can often perform the same job in much less time than a human worker. Walmart said the Auto-C will replace a store worker who typically spent two hours polishing floors with a scrubbing machine.
Illinois Joins 7 Other States to Raise Smoking Age to 21
Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill Sunday that will raise the legal age for purchasing cigarettes, e-cigarettes and other tobacco products from 18 to 21 statewide.
"For Illinois, it will reduce costs for our state, it will make our schools and communities healthier places to learn and live, and -- most importantly -- it will save lives," Pritzker said in a statement.
Public health advocates have been trying for years to raise the legal age in Illinois, arguing that people are less likely to become smokers if they haven't started by the time the turn 21. Lawmakers approved the bill last monthfor the second time in as many years after then-Gov. Bruce Rauner vetoed an earlier version last year.
When the law takes effect July 1, Illinois will join seven other states that have raised the smoking age to 21: California, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon and Virginia.

Pelosi: Trump’s Sanctuary City Proposal Is ‘Unworthy of the Presidency of the United States’
Friday in Leesburg, VA at the House Democrat Caucus Retreat closing press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reacted to reports that the Trump administration considered a plan to release detained immigrants into “sanctuary cities.”
Pelosi said, “I do not know anything about it, but again, it is another notion that is unworthy of the presidency of the United States and the disrespect for the challenges we face as a country and people to address who we are, a nation of immigrants.”

Baltimore Dubbed 'Most Robbed' City In America
About a 60-minute drive northeast of Washington D.C., the city of Baltimore is on the verge of collapse.
Thousands of people are fleeing the city each year as total population plummets to 100-year lows. There are about 46,000 vacant rowhomes scattered throughout the area, or roughly 15% of the housing stock is dormant. On a per capita basis, the city has the highest rate of homicides per 100,000 in the country. Opioids from Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland Medical Center continue to flood the poorest of neighborhoods, leaving the African American communities in a perpetual state of addiction, along with the need for constant government assistance programs. With the local economy basically a black market, gangs roam the streets like a third world country.
The outlook for Baltimore is rather bleak. We have covered the great implosion of Baltimore over the years. The accelerated deterioration restarted after 2015 Baltimore riots. Ever since, the slope of decline has been far steeper than ever seen before.
There is new evidence that verifies our coverage on Baltimore, and we must say - the report doesn't give hope that a turn around in the city is happening anytime soon.
New evidence from ADT security study that examined FBI statistics shows the town is now the "most robbed" city in America.

White House proposed releasing immigrant detainees into ‘sanctuary cities’ to target political foes: report
The Trump administration proposed releasing immigrant detainees onto the streets of “sanctuary cities” -- including San Francisco -- on at least two occasions within the past six months as retribution against the president’s political enemies, The Washington Post reported, citing unnamed Department of Homeland Security officials and emails.
The proposal was first floated in November amid reports of a large migrant caravan from Central America making its way to the southern border. The other time it was considered -- in February-- occurred during a standoff between Trump and Democrats over border wall funding.
It was rejected both times by immigration agencies, the report said. A Nov. 16 email from the White House to officials at several agencies reportedly asked whether migrants could be arrested and bused to “small-and mid-sized sanctuary cities” and other Democratic strongholds.

Judge Napolitano: ‘Julian Assange Is A Hero’
Hero. Traitor. Crusader. Criminal. Journalist. Rogue. The many conflicting words people use in reference to the enigmatic Wikileaks founder Julian Assange are legion. Following his forced removal from the Ecuadorian embassy in the U.K., people from all corners of the media have either rejoiced with contemptuous schadenfreude or mourned in regretful sorrow.
Over at Fox News, Judge Andrew Napolitano openly hailed the Wikileaks founder a "hero" for using his organization to publish information the "world had the right to see."
"I have to tell you, in my opinion, Julian Assange is a hero," said Napolitano on "Fox & Friends." "What he published was truthful information that the American public and the world had the right to see."

A pregnant mother was cited by police after her 3-year-old urinated in a parking lot
RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- Potty training can be a stressful time for any parent, but what happened to a Beech Island woman with her 3-year-old son is next level stress.
So, let’s talk about little Cohen Johns. Cohen is about to be a big brother. His sister is due next month, and his mother, Brooke Johns, has been told to take it easy.
“And he’s heavy,” Brooke said of Cohen.
Last week, Brooke was driving down Sandbar Ferry Road when the little voice in the backseat said he had a big problem.
“He's like, 'Mom, I've got to pee. I've got to pee!' I was like, 'Well, hold on,' and he's like, 'No! I've GOT to pee! I've got to REALLY pee.' And I'm like, 'Baby, there's nowhere for me to go, and he says, 'Momma, I'm about to pee in my pants!" Brooke said.
Brooke said they barely made it to a gas station parking lot before she realized they wouldn’t be able to make it inside.
“I can’t pick him up,” Brooke said. “You know, I’m not supposed to lift him.”

Two gun control measures fail to pass in Maryland
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Two high-profile gun control measures died in the Maryland General Assembly after getting fervent support from mothers who wanted tighter access to firearms and fierce opposition from critics who flew their message with an airplane around the Maryland State House.
One measure would have required background checks anytime someone buys a rifle or shotgun. Supporters said it was needed to close a loophole in Maryland law enabling private sales of long guns without background checks.
“I’m incredibly disappointed. A lot of the moms were consistent in coming down and being very supportive,” said Del. Vanessa Atterbeary, a Democrat who said she planned to try again next year.

Why Are Young Americans So Miserable?
Survey after survey shows young Americans are increasingly unhappy, depressed, and even suicidal. They are America's future, and their outlook makes that future look grim. What's the matter with kids today?
Recent years have seen a rise in Americans 12 to 25 saying they are unhappy. Since 2012, the proportion of 8th and 10th graders who tell the Monitoring the Future survey that they felt unhappy has crept up from 13 percent to 18 percent. In roughly the same time, the proportion of 18- to 25-year-olds who say they are unhappy has risen from 11 to 17 percent, according to the General Social Survey.
These small increases under-represent the growing group of young people for whom life has grown unbearable. Among both high schoolers and young adults, incidences of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness—culminating in major depressive episodes—have risen substantially. A recent survey from the Pew Research Center found that 70 percent of teenagers think anxiety and depression are major problems among their peers, easily outpacing bullying or drug addiction.
