The New Traffic Light At Sixty Foot Road

The new traffic light on Route 50 at Sixty Foot Road is now in operation!

  1. Looks like they are working on a light for RT 50 and White Lowe Road as well. Construction crews have been out there all week.

  2. Compliments of the jackarses that think they know how to drive but obviously they can't!

    1. The traffic light is not needed. There is nothing blocking the view of drivers crossing Rt 50 in either direction.Drivers just need to stop at the stop signs, look each way twice, and proceed when safe.

    2. The real sad part is they only have to look ONE way!

    3. That’s why people like you get killed in accidents. Cars get hit because they only look one way as they cross not noticing a car sitting there in the middle to cross the westbound lane. They get stuck in traffic and hit! Your response was childish and hopefully you will start liking BOTH ways.

  5. A light does not make a better driver. That intersection has been blamed over the stupid driver too many times.

  6. the one going in at route 50 and white lowe is a bad decision

    just shut down that crossover

  7. Should of been an overpass like St. Lukes Rd at the Rt. 13 Bypass. Simple and works well. Stop lights still have accidents.

    1. And I’m sure more costly too

  8. State police lost their honey hole. They would wait preying on the public in the 45mph construction zone when there was no construction going on. Chump carpetbaggers.

    1. So you want people to speed in a construction zone near workers? Apparently you never held a shovel.

    2. It seems you can’t read. MSP was ticketing during non-working hours. I never once saw MSP during working hours.

  9. My guess, is the accident area will be Main St Ext. I have to agree with many, its not the road, it is the drivers.

  10. They need to so the same at THE HEBRON RT 40 ROYAL FARMS.

  11. Hot-diggity-dog! Now all the cars in the passing lane will end up stopped there, too. Like at Walston Switch.
So, now I can pass all of them in the slow-lane.

    1. There is no such thing as a “slow lane”. The speed limit is the same in BOTH lanes.

    2. Tell that to the cops that blow by everybody as if they are standing still.

    1. Going to lots of rear end collisions now !!!

    2. The only reason people were killed at this location is because they were in a rush. They ignored the stop signs and expected traffic to yield to them. I watched this on countless ocassions over the years. If they knew basic rules of the road they would still be alive.

  13. Now watch the Westbound RT 50 traffic blow right through that red light at 65 MPH like they do at the Hobbs Road traffic signal. You take your life into your own hands if you cross route 50 there without making sure nobody is still barreling down the highway trying to "beat" a light that has already been RED for 3-5 seconds. Your green light means nothing to westbound rt 50 traffic. Bet there will still be deaths at the 60 foot road intersection, even with the traffic light. A red light to many on route 50 means speed up before anybody crosses over in front of you. I see it daily.

      I agree about speeding cars

      to reduce Pollution

we need to reduce speed limits on Route 50
from the College to Ocean Shity

      to 25mph

      reduce speed saves lives

Yeah, yeah, you OWN the highway and don't have to share it with anybody. See you every day. Go get another case of road rage. We don't care.

  15. 12:44, That is actually not a bad Idea, but more costly!!!! However, this might be needed for future expansion... This is the problem with 5 points in Delaware at the beach... So much traffic and to many roads converging... There is literally no way to fix it, without an overpass type setup like you mentioned for this intersection in the image... But the problem is MONEY!!!! Not that it will cost money to do, but you will literally have to shut down the road to do it and that cost money to businesses and since it is a beach area, You know damn well that won't happen... So it will just get worse and worse...

This is the crap I keep mentioning to you clowns on here... You HAVE TO plan for the future, and is for everything... Look at 5 points and how bad it is, look how bad this one intersection was for so long... Look at how stupid the Berlin town council is, and what they do, no it is at a point that the tax payers have to fix it and foot the bill to the tune of a 30% tax hike on land, and that does not include the fees and taxes going up for utilities like water and sewer... ON top of anything else that goes up, like food, or gas or anything else...

The left lane is the passing lane. It is not a travel lane. You are suppose to use it to pass and get back over.

Tell that to all these dumba$$ libtard Prius drivers. All they know is to plant their A$$es in the passing lane and become permanent fixtures. Those idiots are the cause of road rage. Most Road Rage would end if these road hogs would stay to the right.

    2. It’s not Prius owners, it runs the spectrum of cars and trucks. Some people feel they have to ride in the passing lane for their turn that’s coming up 15 miles ahead!

  19. 5:58 you are the epitomized example of ignorance. There are TWO LANES for a reason. One for cruising and one for passing. Otherwise, we would only need one lane if all vehicles were traveling the same speed. It's basic physics. Comprende??
Use some of your limited grey matter, learn the reason for the #1 lane, be courteous and let people pass, even if the are traveling slightly more than the posted speed limit.
Or not, and remain the Eastern Shore's biggest phallic symbol.
IT's CALLED COURTESY. Look it up.

  20. To ALL Who think this light will curb accidents. It won't. Watch for many more during this summer.WHY?? Because it wasn't warranted. When you put signals at intersections that aren't warranted. It makes the intersection even more dangerous. YOU'LL SEE!!

  21. 10:02 is right. So many drivers start out moving to the PASSING lane at Hobbs road with anticipation of turning left in Willards or Pittsville and never move over.
Inconsiderate if you ask me. Please, please let us pass and we might not give you the finger.

Thank you for displaying your ignorance. You can't PRETEND to be smarter than everyone else. Physics, hah! Bet with certainty you never had a physics class in your life. What was that you wrote? Comprende?? Think you own the road, right? Everyone should get out out the way of your oversized ego, and let you rule the road. Laughable, I must say. When you want to run 80MPH, I will be right there running 75mph daring you to pass me on the right, and drive in the reckless manor you desire. I also toot my horn when I go by your car and the blue lights have you stopped. Look over, I will be giving you a wave. Your kind are my toys on the highway. I play with you. This is coming from a professional driver with millions of miles under my belt, and MY last moving violation was in 1978. Yep, your kind are laughable (and entertaining when I encounter you on the highway). I've gotten you guys to volunteer for more tickets than I can count. And I laugh about it every time. Matter of fact, it makes me grin just thinking about it.

  29. Only a YEAR Late !!! After Too many Died Too !!!!!

State don't want to put up a light Anywhere & there are
    Plenty of places Needed !!!!!

They can stick those Round-Abouts UP their Butts too
costing Alot more than a light

Plus, your Govt waists Millions putting up too many lights
in one place , making the intersections way too big !!!!!

  30. April 11, 2019 at 5:44 PM - your proof?

    You couldn't be more wrong.

The angle of the road, created a blind spot from the front rail of the car. If there was a car coming in a certain spot you did not see it.
The way the intersection was designed was flawed. Or are you too stupid to realize this? How many other intersections are there without the same number of accidents?

You can't educate a "know-it-all." They truly believe, in their uneducated minds, that they are "smarter" than anyone else. They cannot perceive their own ignorance. You obviously understand the problem. A know-it-all just blames the problem on other people that he thinks are not as smart as him, like everybody else but him and even highway engineers. LOL. It's both funny, and pathetic, at the same time. You are wasting your words and facts on someone like him. It would be justice if he was one of the ones that got creamed at that intersection by a car he never saw coming.
