Destroying Your Vote
Voter ID laws have been challenged because liberal Democrats deem them racist. I guess that’s because they see blacks as being incapable of acquiring some kind of government-issued identification. Interesting enough is the fact that I’ve never heard of a challenge to other ID requirements as racist, such as those: to board a plane, open a charge account, have lab work done or cash a welfare check. Since liberal Democrats only challenge legal procedures to promote ballot-box integrity, the conclusion one reaches is that they are for vote fraud prevalent in many Democrat-controlled cities.
There is another area where the attack on ballot-box integrity goes completely unappreciated. We can examine this attack by looking at the laws governing census taking. As required by law, the U.S. Census Bureau is supposed to count all persons in the U.S. Those to be counted include citizens, legal immigrants and non-citizen long-term visitors. The law also requires that illegal immigrants be a part of the decennial census. The estimated number of illegal immigrants ranges widely from 12 million to 30 million. Official estimates put the actual number closer to 12 million.
Both citizens and non-citizens are included in the census and thus affect apportionment counts. Counting illegals in the census undermines one of the fundamental principles of representative democracy — namely, that every citizen-voter has an equal voice. Through the decennial census-based process of apportionment, states with large numbers of illegal immigrants, such as California and Texas, unconstitutionally gain additional members in the U.S. House of Representatives thereby robbing the citizen-voters in other states of their rightful representation.

Applying for a mortgage? Here’s the current denial rate.
It is a bit easier to qualify for a mortgage now, but banks are still turning lots of borrowers down.
Real estate firm Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ: ZG) looked at mortgage lending data for conventional loans in 2013 and 2014 under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, and found that, in Baltimore, the application denial rate was 7.7 percent last year, down from 8.3 percent in 2013.
Baltimore has one of the lowest denial rates in the country. The U.S. average last year was 11.2 percent.
The mortgage application denial rate in Miami last year was 19.5 percent. That's the highest denial rate among the largest cities. When breaking down denial rates by race, 14 percent of black applicants in Baltimore failed to qualify for a mortgage, compared with 5.8 percent for white borrowers.

You’re Doing It Wrong, ‘The View’
It looks like those elitist harridans on ABC’s “The View” learned nothing from the national backlash over their mockery of nurse Kelley Johnson less than eight weeks ago.
Guess they’ve already forgotten how major advertisers Johnson & Johnson, Party City, McCormick spices, Snuggle, and Eggland’s Best all pulled spots from the show after co-host and lead Mean Girl Michelle Collins led a cacklefest ridiculing Johnson, Miss Colorado 2015, for a heartfelt monologue about her work during the Miss America pageant.
In a craven attempt at damage control, the daytime divas inflicted yet more damage by blaming nurses and their supporters who protested the plain insults for “misconstruing” their snotty remarks. Co-host Joy Behar blithely confessed she “didn’t know what the hell I was talking about” when she poked fun of Johnson for wearing her stethoscope.
Liberal female TV stardom has its privileges.
Rather than be humbled and chastened, however, the know-nothing loudmouths have dug themselves another big, fat hole.
Last week on the iconic show created by a pioneering female journalist with an all female-cast to provide revolutionary TV programming for a female audience that had been marginalized by the male-dominated entertainment world, the shrews of The View chose to wield their influential platform to…

Somerset County Farmland Protected
A new conservation easement totaling 30.2 acres will permanently protect important farmland in Westover, located in Somerset County. Landowner Frederick Howard donated the easement to the Maryland Environmental Trust to safeguard its resources and his family’s legacy.
“We are grateful for Mr. Howard’s efforts to help keep this farmland a productive part of the local economy and to protect the scenic view,” Maryland Environmental Trust Director Bill Leahy said.
The easement serves as an integral part of the area’s agricultural setting, connecting protected farms, offering prime soils for farming and providing sweeping views of the farmland along Revell’s Neck Road.

Patients Want Drug Off The Market Following Crippling Side Effects
BALTIMORE (WJZ)–Doctors are blaming crippling side effects on a powerful drug that’s being prescribed to thousands of patients around the country and here in Maryland.
The antibiotic can treat diseases like anthrax and the plague, but asGigi Barnett explains, doctors are giving it to patients with less severe illnesses.
Eight years ago, Caroline Egan’s doctor prescribed her Levaquin to treat a sinus infection.
She took it as prescribed for three days until the former daycare provider from Framingham, Massachusetts says she began to see unusual symptoms.
“One day I can be OK and focused. And another day I can’t even talk to anybody, cause they’re not making sense. It sounds like they’re not speaking English,” said Caroline Egan.

Ok, Who Ordered The Mexican Heroin?
Heroin use in the United States increased by nearly 80 percent between 2007 and 2012 alone, and The New York Times' main reaction to this depressing fact is to be overjoyed that the new addicts are mostly white.
The important point is not that ragingly addictive drugs are sweeping small-town America, young lives are being cut short, or that we lost one of the most talented actors of his generation to a heroin overdose. What matters is that that the drug epidemic is not having a disparate impact.
Excitedly reporting that "nearly 90 percent of those who tried heroin for the first time in the last decade were white" -- yay! -- the Times claimed that, with white kids dying from heroin overdoses, their parents are taking a "more forgiving approach" to heroin addiction.
Assuming that's even true, are grieving parents the best source of public policy recommendations? If we're basing our drug policies on the feelings of parents whose kids overdosed on drugs, how about having the parents of kids who have been raped and murdered write our death penalty laws?
Columbia professor Kimberle Williams Crenshaw lamented that if only whites had been dying of heroin overdoses sooner, "the devastating impact of mass incarceration upon entire communities would never have happened."

Baltimore police union joins others in boycott of Quentin Tarantino film
BALTIMORE —The Baltimore City Lodge No. 3 is the latest police union to announce a boycott of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film.
Tarantino is being heavily criticized by police unions around the country for remarks he made during a police brutality rally on Oct. 24 in New York, calling attention to those killed in police shootings.
"When I see murder I cannot stand by. I have to call the murdered the murdered. I have to call the murderers the murderers," Tarantino said during the rally.
The Baltimore City Lodge No. 3 on Thursday became the latest to announce a boycott of Tarantino's upcoming film, "The Hateful Eight." The movie does not deal with the issue of police brutality.

How Media Bias Works
What happened to the email scandal? Or the cost of Hillary Clinton’s and Bill Clinton’s speeches? Or the Uranium deal where President Putin got control of our mines? Or Hillary Clinton’s lie about Benghazi being caused by a video? Or any of the scandals the media pursued with such zest and vigor until last w
Some say that Clinton won the debate by surviving the Benghazi hearings. Others say there was nothing there in the first place.
The truth is that the four-year rule kicked in. The four-year rule, widely honored but never admitted by the media provides that it can be critical of the Democratic Party, President Obama, or the Clintons for only three out of every four years. But when an election year looms, they have to cut it out and fall in line behind the Democratic Party and its likely nominee, Hillary Clinton. In other words, when the stakes are down, they have to cut out the criticism.

Maryland family faces harsh criticism after adopted daughter featured in ‘American Girl’ magazine
The parents of an 11-year-old girl in upper Montgomery County said they are disappointed and hurt after they received sharp criticism on an article in a popular girls magazine about their adopted daughter, their family and their charity work to help foster children.
Rob and Reece Scheer of Darnestown adopted Amaya and three boys — all of whom had been in foster care — several years ago and were recently featured in a magazine run by the huge toy chain Mattel and its popular dolls, called “American Girl.” In the article, Amaya tells of how she and her brother came to the Scheers in 2009 with their belongings in two trash bags. It was their third foster home in four months. The Scheers went on to adopt two other kids who are brothers — Greyson, who is now 8, and Tristan, now 6.
The article, by an adult writer for the magazine, is written through Amaya’s perspective. In it, Amaya promotes the charity one of her dads — Rob — started several years ago, called Comfort Cases, which provides backpacks filled with pajamas, toothbrushes, blankets, stuffed animals and other items for foster kids. The group has gone from providing about 300 kits in 2013 to donating 7,000 to kids in the District, Maryland and Virginia foster care systems last year.

Rupert Murdoch Takes Over at National Geographic, Immediately Starts Laying off Award-Winning Staff
National Geographic, 1888-2015, RIP?
It's as bad as many of us feared. In spite of happy talk like, "Oh, his son will be running it and he's different," "Rupert wouldn't destroy an asset like Nat Geo," etc., the axe fell on Tuesday.
The memo went out, and November 3rd 2015 came to the National Geographic office. This was the day in which Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox took over National Geographic. The management of National Geographic sent out an email telling its staff, all of its staff, all to report to their headquarters, and wait by their phones. This pulled back every person who was in the field, every photographer, every reporter, even those on vacation had to show up on this fateful day.
As these phones rang, one by one National Geographic let go the award-winning staff, and the venerable institution was no more.
The name now belongs to Rupert Murdoch, and he has plans for it. The CEO of National Geographic Society, Greg Knell, tried to claim back in September that “there won’t be an [editorial] turn in a direction that is different from the National Geographic heritage.” Murdoch’s move today only served to prove Knell’s words hollow, with hundreds of talented people now served their pink slips. And with the recognition that Murdoch’s other enterprises do not reflect the standards held by National Geographic, and with Murdoch’s history of changing the editorial direction of purchased properties, today’s move indicates that we can expect a similar shift for National Geographic.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces New Regulations to Address Impaired Driving
Ignition Interlock Program Expanded
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today announced an expansion of Maryland’s Ignition Interlock program, which will help save lives by reducing the number of drunk drivers on Maryland roads. Beginning in 1989, Maryland’s Ignition Interlock program instituted a device that prevents a car from starting when it detects a certain level of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Under current regulations, drivers who register a 0.15 blood alcohol level or higher are allowed to opt-in to the program and keep their license without having an administrative hearing, while those who register 0.08 to 0.15 are not allowed to opt-in to the program.
Governor Hogan’s proposed regulations will allow all of these drivers the option of participating in the ignition interlock program and therefore, the ability to keep their license without an administrative hearing.
In addition to expanding the number of people that can opt-in, the new regulations also will bring Maryland in compliance with ignition interlock device standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Our administration is committed to protecting all Marylanders by taking the common sense steps that will help to prevent drunk driving,” Governor Hogan said. “These proposed regulations will make our roads and communities safer by ensuring that past drunk driving offenders cannot start their car after they have been drinking.”
On average, there are 7,884 impaired driving crashes across Maryland in any given year. In those crashes, 170 people die every year due to impaired driving. All of these fatalities are preventable. In Maryland, drivers with a BAC of .08 or higher are charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and those with a BAC of .04 are charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
“Every life lost is one too many,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn. “Expanding Ignition Interlock is a giant step forward in eliminating impaired driving fatalities on Maryland’s highways!”
Maryland’s ignition interlock program has approximately 11,000 participants and is monitored by the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). The MVA has implemented an automated comprehensive ignition interlock program, which efficiently monitors participants and allows the MVA to take action against program violations
The Cold Truth About Cold Medicines
You might want to think twice before heading to the drugstore the next time you have a sniffle.
Welcome to cold season! If you should happen to catch a sniffle, don’t bother with the cold medicine aisle at your local pharmacy. New research shows these products work no better than placebo.
Actually, products like Tylenol Sinus, Sudafed PE, Advil Sinus & Pain and others containing the supposed decongestant phenylephrine may work worse than a placebo, since cold medicine often comes with unpleasant side-effects like jitteriness and dry mouth, and can leave you feeling worse than you did before taking it.

Maryland gets 'C' on March of Dimes report card
NBC) —A new report from the March of Dimes finds that while there have been improvements in the nation's preterm birth rate, there's much more work to be done.
The national preterm birth rate is about 9.5 percent, earning a grade of "C" in the March of Dimes' latest report card. Maryland got a "C" with a 10.1 percent preterm birth rate, while Baltimore City got an "F" with a 12.2 percent preterm birth rate.
Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen released a statement Thursday afternoon, saying in part: "Today’s announcement only reinforces how premature birth rates are deeply tied to fundamental issues of racial equity and systemic poverty. To continue moving the needle forward, we need the continued -- and expanded -- support from our local, state, and federal partners, so that we can ensure that every child born in Baltimore is born at a healthy weight, full-term and ready to thrive in healthy families.”

4 Reasons Pot Legalization Crashed and Burned in Ohio
The Buckeye State legalization initiative got trounced Tuesday, and there are lessons to be learned.
Issue 3, the ResponsibleOhio marijuana legalization initiative, was trounced at the polls Tuesday, losing by a 2-to-1 margin despite polling that showed a competitive race and a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign that went largely unanswered.
The defeat came even as voters, both in Ohio and nationwide, voice their support for pot legalization. Last month, a Quinnipiac poll had Ohio support for generic legalization at 53%, while a Gallup poll had national support for legalization at 58%.
So what went wrong? It's pretty early to fully dissect voting patterns, but here are four contributing factors to the defeat:
1. It's a marijuana monopoly! The ResponsibleOhio initiative would have created a "monopoly" on commercial pot cultivation by allowing only 10 such grows and assigning them to people who invested in the campaign. It was an interesting initiative business model and worked well enough to actually make the ballot, which no other marijuana reform initiatives in the state have managed to do, but turned out to be self-defeating in the end. The model left the initiative open to charges of "crony capitalism" and creating a "legal marijuana cartel," and really stuck in the craw of even many Buckeye legalization supporters, some of whom publicly and virulently opposed it.

Restaurant CEO Predicts Robots will Replace Overpriced Labor
To put it simply, the government is pricing labor out of the market, and machines are standing ready to fill the gap
The melancholy truth that America’s leftists, and the young people they exploit for political support, stubbornly refuse to learn is that the true minimum wage is zero. When the cost of labor is increased beyond its true value by government fiat, employers learn to make do with fewer workers.
The primary factor containing the damage from such market responses to increased labor cost is customer satisfaction. Beyond a certain point, it becomes impossible to cut jobs or productivity suffers too much. In a service-oriented business, such as food service, the customers have unhappy experiences at understaffed establishments and take their business elsewhere.
However, the CEO of one large restaurant chain warns that customers are now comfortable enough with automated systems to allow another huge round of job cuts in the near future. To put it simply, the government is pricing labor out of the market, and machines are standing ready to fill the gap.
The CEO in question, Ron Shaich of Panera Bread, didn’t really phrase this as a warning during his most recent quarterly earnings call. As reported by Business Insider, it was more like a confident prediction. “Labor is going to go down,” he said. “And as digital utilization goes up – like the sun comes up in the morning – it is going to continue to go up.”

Robot Will Attend School for 10-Year-Old With Cancer
Peyton Walton calls her robot PAVS, for Peyton's Awesome Virtual Self.
The thin robot, holding an iPad that shows Peyton's face, will bring Peyton to class virtually and will help her socialize with her friends as she rolls down the halls of Poolesville Elementary in Poolesville, Maryland.
It will be in school for five weeks while Peyton, 10, undergoes cancer treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Peyton will see and hear what PAVS will "see" and "hear." She'll control the robot with an app and be able to respond to people talking with her.

Feds: 81,038 Unaccompanied Illegal Alien Children Placed In All 50 States, D.C. in Last Two Years
Feds continue to ignore rule of law regarding illegal immigration
The federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has released data updated as of Nov. 2 that show in the last two years 81,038 illegal alien minors who entered the U.S. without a parent or guardian were subsequently placed with adult sponsors in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
According to the “Unaccompanied Children Released to Sponsors By State” statistics and confirmed by a spokesman for the Administration for Children and Families – which operates ORR – 27,520 unaccompanied illegal alien minors have been released to sponsors around the United States in fiscal year 2015 (October 2014 to September 2015). This is in addition to the 53,518 children released into the United States in fiscal year 2014 (October 2013 to September 2014).
Those statistics bring the total of illegal alien children who were apprehended, placed with ORR and then released to sponsors over that time period to 81,038.
According to the data, the 10 states receiving the most of these illegal alien children are Texas (10,618), California (9,587), New York (8,570), Florida (8,330), Maryland (5,668), Virginia (5,563), New Jersey (4,120), Georgia (3,075), North Carolina (2,897), and Louisiana (2,220).

State trooper delays telling children of parents’ death, takes care of them on Halloween
MORGAN COUNTY, Georgia -- Faced with the somber task of informing four children that their parents had been killed in a car wreck on Halloween, a big-hearted Georgia state trooper opted to do things a little differently.
Rather than just announce the devastating news there and then, Trooper Nathan Bradley decided to take the costume-clad kids under his wing for the evening and allow them to enjoy Halloween. He also started an online fundraising campaign to help the family.
Bradley has recounted the heartbreaking moment when he and two other officials arrived at the family home in Morgan County to deliver the news.

Gloria Steinem: You’re Racist If You Attack Planned Parenthood
But P.P. founded by a racist and aborts a disproportionate number of African-Americans!
Gloria Steinem claimed the current backlash against Planned Parenthood is an attempt to restore a “long-term racist system,” despite the estimated 16 million African-Americans that have been aborted since 1973.
“[The attack] is part of an ultra right-wing attempt to restore the basis of patriarchy or a male-dominant system and the necessity of a long-term racist system which is controlling reproduction,” the CIA-connected feminist activist told PBS’ Tavis Smiley on Tuesday. “And to control reproduction, you have to control the bodies of women.”
That’s quite a few buzzwords Steinem used there while ignoring the fact that a lot of the organization’s critics are not “ultra right-wing” but simply have a problem with harvesting aborted baby organs for profit.
And considering that abortion kills 19 times as many African-Americans as murder, how can she possibly suggest that attacking Planned Parenthood is racist? What kind of inverted reality is she living in?

Why are Maryland teens turning to heroin?
Recovering heroin addict Conner Ostrowski grew up in what his mother calls a "stereotypical suburban household" in Anne Arundel County.
The former Linthicum resident is part of a close-knit family. He excelled in academics and athletics, consistently making the honor roll and wrestling for North County High School. And he dreamed of one day becoming a disc jockey and sound and lighting expert.
But four years ago, when Conner was 16, he injured his back during a wrestling match. Soon after, and without his parents' knowledge, someone shared a prescription pain pill with him. That's when his descent into heroin addiction began.
"It was one pill," says his mother, Andrea Wildason. "That's the danger. He took that pill and it was like magic."
Within two years, Conner went from popping Percocet to injecting heroin, four to six times a day.
Local leaders say addictions like Conner's are becoming all too common in Maryland, where the heroin epidemic is reaching record levels.

Houston Voters Say No To Houston LGBT Ordinance
A win for common sense and rationality
(NY Times) A yearlong battle over gay and transgender rights that turned into a costly, ugly war of words between this city’s lesbian mayor and social conservatives ended Tuesday as voters repealed an anti-discrimination ordinance that had attracted attention from the White House, sports figures and Hollywood celebrities.
The City Council passed the measure in May, but it was in limbo after opponents succeeded, following a lengthy court fight, in putting the matter to a referendum.
The Times seems a bit upset that citizens would be allowed to vote on this.
Supporters said the ordinance was similar to those approved in 200 other cities and prohibited bias in housing, employment, city contracting and business services for 15 protected classes, including race, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. Opponents said the measure would allow men claiming to be women to enter women’s bathrooms and inflict harm, and that simple message — “No Men in Women’s Bathrooms” — was plastered on signs and emphasized in television and radio ads, turning the debate from one about equal rights to one about protecting women and girls from sexual predators.

County rejects high road on medicinal pot license
With the deadline looming and the competition heating up between counties for medicinal marijuana grower and dispensary licenses, the Worcester County Commissioners decided to forego a request by their new economic development director for endorsement of an application to bring new agricultural and pharmaceutical opportunities to the county seat.
“We’re looking at the big picture — other counties are supportive,” Economic Development Director Merry Mears said.
Referring to Somerset County, Mears said that county’s commissioners are lobbying hard for the agricultural jobs the production of medicinal cannabis will bring.
“This is coming,” Mears said. “There are the opportunities for jobs and revenue. This is the only official request (for a Worcester license), and I recommend issuing the letter.”
There will only be 15 grower licenses issued for the entire state. Only two dispensaries will be allowed per state senate district. Worcester County has just one district, which includes Somerset County and part of eastern Wicomico. Western Wicomico shares its district, and a potential two dispensaries, with Talbot, Dorchester and parts of Caroline counties.

Sanctuary, Not Just Shelter: A New Type Of Housing For The Homeless
Ending homelessness isn't just about finding a home. Sometimes, it's about finding anice home — a place that's bright, modern and healthy to live in. That's the idea fueling the development of a number of buildings around the country, as communities try to move chronically homeless people off the streets.
In downtown Washington, D.C., one of those buildings is currently going up right beside NPR's headquarters. Still under construction, the structure looks a little like four huge blocks, stacked atop each other and slightly askew. At 14 stories high, it will have a striking view of the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument when it's finished.
"It's going to be definitively an inspiring place for the folks that are in it and for this neighborhood as well," says Nadine Maleh, executive director of the Institute for Public Architecture. Until recently, she was the director of inspiring places at the nonprofit Community Solutions, one of the groups behind the project.
"The front of the building will be predominately glass," Maleh adds, explaining that it's designed to let in as much natural light as possible.

Anarchotyranny: 6,000 Drug Convicts Freed as Fisherman Goes to Prison for Catching Too Many Fish
Some people find the term anarchotyranny confusing, because it appears to be an oxymoron. The Obama Regime makes it easier to understand by providing illustration:
Last week the administration started releasing the first wave of 6,000 drug convicts who will get out of jail early. In all, about 50,000 prisoners are eligible for early release and federal authorities claim they’re all “non-violent” offenders whose sentences were too long in the first place. Federal prosecutors have warned that drug trafficking is inherently violent and therefore the phrase “non-violent drug offenders” is a misnomer. …
The new more lenient penalty stops the justice system from unfairly targeting minorities and the poor, according to Obama’s first Attorney General, Eric Holder, a driving force behind the change. While drug offenders get off easy in the name of racial justice, the administration has increased punishment for violating federal regulations involving less serious acts such as reeling in too many fish. The feds actually went after a commercial fisherman named Anthony Jospeh for “Fisheries Fraud” because he caught too many fluke. Then, he lied about it to the government—“systematically underreporting fluke”—and that got him in a boatload of trouble.
Last week the New York fisherman got sentenced to seven months in prison, a $603,000 fine and three years of supervised release following incarceration, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) announcement.

USA – The growth in both types and numbers of gun owners, and the coincident drop in violent crime have not induced gun prohibitionists to reconsider their position.
A rational person might look on these big-picture truths as evidence that her thinking could be wrong. But if gun prohibitionists were rational people, civil rights activists wouldn’t be working day in and day out to defend that precious right secured by the Second Amendment.
On the contrary, as more women, African-Americans, and others become proud gun owners, gun-hating activists have become more strident, even abusive, in their campaign against gun owners.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton even sees enough political traction among that crowd to go on national television and call the NRA (and presumably the tens of millions of Americans who support the NRA’s politics) an “enemy”.
Gun control groups have long followed a strategy of endlessly repeating their talking points, which are instantly and eagerly echoed by traditionally gun control-friendly major media outlets. Just this year they dusted off a couple of old gun control schemes dating back as far as the 1970s (regulating guns as consumer products through a federal agency, the Consumer Product Safety Commission) and hawking“gun violence” as a public health problem. They present these nostrums as new ideas, counting on a gullible public to buy these discredited ruses.

Crisis management team to help Adams County Sheriff’s Office after outcry over shooting of Idaho rancher
An officer-involved shooting that left a longtime Adams County rancher dead Sunday has shocked the community and brought a tidal wave of recriminations for the county’s small sheriff’s department.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has been bombarded with angry calls and hate mail from people upset by the shooting, which left 62-year-old Jack Yantis dead on U.S. 95 in front of his home north of Council.
Adams County Sheriff Ryan Zollman said people in the office are being called “murderers” and said the calls coming in forced one emergency dispatcher to leave her post Tuesday. “She was so upset,” he said.

Street Performers Officially Challenge New Ordinance; Christ-Led Group Eyes Solicitor Suspension
OCEAN CITY — Just one day after a federal judge rejected an attempt to piggyback on a prior case, a collection of Boardwalk street performers late last week filed a formal complaint in U.S. District Court challenging Ocean City’s new ordinance regulating buskers.
Last Tuesday, a group of six Boardwalk street performers filed a motion in U.S. District Court to reopen or reconsider the case of Chase v. Town of Ocean City for the purpose of seeking declaratory judgment against the resort’s contentious street performer ordinance implemented this summer. Within one day, U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Hollander, who presided over the Chase case, sent the motion back to the plaintiffs, opining “only parties to the case may file documents,” and “you may wish to file a new case.”
The plaintiffs, led by Tony Christ, who purposely received the one and only citation issued to a street performer this summer, along with Jim Starck, Joseph Smith, Bill Campion, Sr., Jesse Guthrie and Robert Peasley, heeded the judge’s advice and last Thursday filed a new complaint against the Town of Ocean City. Among other things, the complaint seeks a declaratory judgment against the Town of Ocean City, which, if approved, would essentially dismiss the busker ordinance implemented in July in its entirety. The complaint also seeks $1 million in compensatory and punitive damages against the town for the plaintiffs, and a 90-day license suspension for City Solicitor Guy Ayres, ostensibly because the town’s attorney knew or should have known the new registration requirement in the ordinance violated the Consent Decree from the Chase case in 2011.

The Most Surprising Thing About Today's Jobs Report
After several months of weak and deteriorating payrolls prints, perhaps the biggest tell today's job number would surprise massively to the upside came yesterday from Goldman, which as we noted earlier, just yesterday hiked its forecast from 175K to 190K. And while as Brown Brothers said after the reported that it is "difficult to find the cloud in the silver lining" one clear cloud emerges when looking just a little deeper below the surface.
That cloud emerges when looking at the age breakdown of the October job gains as released by the BLS' Household Survey. What it shows is that while total jobs soared, that was certainly not the case in the most important for wage growth purposes age group, those aged 25-54.
As the chart below shows, in October the age group that accounted for virtually all total job gains was workers aged 55 and over. They added some 378K jobs in the past month, representing virtually the entire increase in payrolls. And more troubling: workers aged 25-54 actually declined by 35,000, with males in this age group tumbling by 119,000!

FHFA Head Warns Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac May Need Another Taxpayer Bailout
Yesterday, we learnedthat Fannie Mae recently rolled out a new programknown as “Home Ready,”which would allow borrowers to obtain a 3% downpayment mortgage with no minimum cash contribution.
Now we learn this.
From MarketWatch:
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are at risk of needing an injection of Treasury capital after the latter reported its first quarterly loss in four years, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency said Tuesday.
FHFA Director Mel Watt issued a statement following mortgage-finance company Freddie Mac’s $475 million third-quarter loss, its first quarterly loss in four years.
“Volatility in interest rates coupled with a capital buffer that will decline to zero in 2018 under the terms of the senior preferred stock purchase agreements with Treasury will likely make both Enterprises increasingly susceptible to the possibility of quarterly losses that could result in draws going forward,” Watt said.
Freddie Mac said its loss was driven by interest rate changes that soured the value of derivatives it holds.

GLOBAL COOLING: Decade long ice age predicted as sun 'hibernates'
SCIENTISTS claim we are in for a decade-long freeze as the sun slows down solar activity by up to 60 per cent.
A team of European researchers have unveiled a scientific model showing that the Earth is likely to experience a “mini ice age” from 2030 to 2040 as a result of decreased solar activity.
Their findings will infuriate environmental campaigners who argue by 2030 we could be facing increased sea levels and flooding due to glacial melt at the poles.
However, at the National Astronomy Meeting in Wales, Northumbria University professor Valentina Zharkova said fluctuations an 11-year cycle of solar activity the sun goes through would be responsible for a freeze, the like of which has not been experienced since the 1600s.
From 1645 to 1715 global temperatures dropped due to low solar activity so much that the planet experienced a 70-year ice age known as Maunder Minimum which saw the River Thames in London completely frozen.

This Teen Makes a Mind-Blowing Comparison Between Obama and Carson… Liberals SPEECHLESS!
Nothing bothers liberals more than a minority American thinking for themselves. And that’s probably why a meme created by Markeese Young, a 19-year-old black conservative Republican, is driving them all crazy.
Markeece Young, 19, who describes himself as a “former Democrat now conservative Republican,” recently created a meme to compare presidential candidate Ben Carson with President Barack Obama.
The meme pointed out that Carson has somehow been considered a traitor to his race by those on the left for no other reason than the fact that he advocates conservative principles.
Carson directly addressed those who attack him as an “Uncle Tom” in an August interview with TheBlaze.
“I’d say they need to actually listen, not only to what I’m saying, but look at my life and look at what’s been done,” the retired neurosurgeon said. “It is the things that are done that elevate people, not things that repress people and make them dependent.”
The idea of blacks rejecting the Democrat agenda drives liberals crazy — and even to violence — but Carson also addressed the longstanding tradition of blacks supporting and voting for Democrats and how the Republican Party can change that.

But Clinton has a 3-point edge over Donald Trump in the poll, 46 percent to 43 percent.
Interestingly, the second tier among primary voters is also a virtual tie between Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. No other Republican candidate was able to score over 3 percent, and quite a few of them fell below 1 percent to become asterisks.
Atheist: It’s OK to Slam Christians, But Islam is Off-Limits Because…
Atheists have no problem criticizing Christianity, but very rarely do they criticize Islam. And one atheist professor has a very simple explanation as to why: he doesn’t have to fear for his life if he says something negative about Christianity.
An atheist professor said Tuesday that it’s acceptable to criticize Christians but not Muslims, because he does not “fear” retaliation from Christians.
“I know what keeps me from critiquing Islam on my blog is just fear,” Phil Zuckerman said at a discussion on religious liberty at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. “I’ve got three kids.
“So I know I can say anything about Christianity or Mormonism, and I’m not living in fear, which is a testament to Christianity and Mormonism, and that’s wonderful. Thank you,” said Zuckerman, who is a self-described atheist and professor of secular studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif.
At least he is giving Christians and Mormoms credit where it is due. Christians may not like the things that atheists say, but they won’t kill someone for it — but Muslims will, and it took a lot of courage for Zuckerman to say even that.

Appeals Court Rules In Worcester Death Penalty Case
SNOW HILL — A Baltimore man sentenced to die in Worcester County Circuit Court three decades ago for a gruesome double murder in Baltimore County in 1983 may have finally exhausted his appeals after a Maryland high court this week upheld the lower court’s ruling in on his motion on a bid for a new trial.
The Maryland Court of Special Appeals this week denied the latest appeal of Vernon Lee Evans, who was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder by a Worcester County Circuit Court jury in 1984 and sentenced to death. Evans was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder for the shooting death of two victims in a murder-for-hire plot in a Baltimore County hotel in 1983, and when the state announced it would seek the death penalty, Evans requested a change of venue and the high profile case was transferred to the Worcester County Circuit Court in quiet Snow Hill in 1984.
According to court documents, Evans was hired by noted drug kingpin Anthony Grandison to kill David Piechowicz and his wife Cheryl, who were set to testify against Grandison a week later in a federal narcotics trial. Evans went to the Warren House Motel in Baltimore County where Piechowicz and his wife worked and shot and killed David Piechowicz and who he thought was Cheryl Piechowicz. However, never having seen his targets before, Evans did shoot David Piechowicz, but also his sister-in-law Susan Kennedy, who was filling in for her sister. According to court documents, Evans shot the two victims with a machine pistol, firing 19 rounds.

Obama Gets BAD News About Guns
It has become increasingly obvious that Obama’s efforts to squash the Second Amendment have failed.
New reports reveal that gun sales are at a record high for the sixth month in a row.
InfoWars reported:
The level of FBI firearm related background checks in October again hit a record high, indicating that Americans have been buying firearms at all time highs for six months in a row now.
The FBI released October’s figures, showing that it carried out 1,976,759 Instant Background Checks. This makes it the sixth consecutive month to see a record number of checks.
It also constitutes a a 373,290 increase in checks on figures from this time last year.

Trump Could Win Over Hispanics Who Fear Competition From Illegals
To hear political pundits tell it, Donald Trump has little chance to attract enough Hispanic voters to win the presidency in 2016 because of his plans to build a border wall and deport all illegal immigrants in America. Some pollsters and activists who have whipped up past Hispanic support for Republicans, however, see it differently.
They think Mr. Trump’s lasering in on the economy and his perceived competence in creating jobs will appeal to the one segment of Hispanics that matters most in elections: those who work and tend to vote. That’s because those voters fear illegal immigrants will compete for their jobs under the new Obama amnesty.
“This stuff you read about how Hispanics are going to run away from Trump in droves is a Northeastern myth,” said longtime presidential campaign adviser Mark Sanders.
“Most Hispanics here in East Texas are here legally, they vote, and they are hard-line opponents of illegal immigration,” said Mr. Sanders, a top adviser in Democrat Tony Sanchez’s 2002 campaign to unseat then-Gov. Rick Perry. “The only one they want is Trump — not Hillary, not Bernie. That’s the conundrum for Democrats.”

ObamaCare’s death spiral, stage one: Denial
For the press, the debate over ObamaCare is over. There may be a few proverbial Japanese soldiers wandering on isolated islands yammering on about the failure of ObamaCare, but word will eventually filter down to them, too.
This assumption is so deeply embedded that it is impervious to new evidence that ObamaCare is an unwieldy contraption that is sputtering badly. Yes, ObamaCare has covered more people and has especially benefited those with pre-existing conditions (to be credible, Republican replacement plans have to do these things, as well), but the program is so poorly designed that, surely, even a new Democratic president will want to revisit it to try to make it more workable.

Enrollment is falling short. The Obama administration projects that it will have roughly 10 million people on the state and federal exchanges by the end of next year, a staggering climb-down from prior expectations. The Congressional Budget Office had predicted that there would be roughly 20 million enrollees. If the administration is to be believed, enrollment will only increase about another million next year from its current 9 million and only sign up about a quarter of the eligible uninsured.
Premiums are rising. Not everywhere, but steeply in some states. Indiana is down 12 percent, but Minnesota is up 50 percent. Health care expert Robert Laszewski points out that it’s the insurers with the highest enrollment and therefore the best information about actual enrollees that have tended to request the biggest increases — a sign that they don’t like what they’re seeing in their data.

DRUCKENMILLER WARNS: 'The chickens will come home to roost'
Stanley Druckenmiller doesn't think the Federal Reserve's experiment of keeping interest rates near 0% to spur economic growth will end well.
Speaking at The New York Times' DealBook Conference on Tuesday,Druckenmiller said "all you do" when keeping interest rates at 0% for this long is "pulling demand forward today." "This is not some permanent boost you get — you're borrowing from the future," he said.
Druckenmiller also said he thought there had been "a misallocation of resources" because the zero-interest-rate policy had gone on so long and, he said, "so unnecessarily."
"The chickens will come home to roost," he added.
The basic idea supporting rates at 0% is that the economy isn't as strong as it needs to be (or should be), and only by keeping interest rates super low will the Fed be able to give the economy the space and time it needs to repair itself.
But in Druckenmiller's view, this policy has simply created bad behavior. And worse, he thinks, it has mortgaged the economy's future potential.

Nearly 1,000 Norfolk city, school workers could lose pay for late taxes
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – More than 500 employees for Norfolk Public Schools have until Friday to pay delinquent personal property taxes, before the city takes money out of their next paychecks.
Administrators said they sent a notice to employees Thursday that the city served tax liens on them.
“If I don’t collect the revenue, we can’t pay these individuals…I have a job to do and we use all of the tools that are available to us to collect these taxes,” said Norfolk City Treasurer, Anthony Burfoot.
In addition to those 565 school employees, 425 city workers are in danger of losing some pay, Burfoot said. The employees owe more than a combined $280,000 in delinquent taxes that were due months ago, he said.

Hillary and The Road Not Taken
These lines by Robert Frost, from his famous poem “The Road Not Taken,” still echo through the noise of popular culture:
Conventional wisdom tells us that taking the road less traveled is a good thing. It has a certain heroic quality. It implies a fortuitous outcome.
It seems that this traveler, departing from his rat-in-a-maze mentality, suddenly stops to consider another way of doing things, joyously frees himself from his thoughtless routine, follows his bliss, takes wing on his newly-discovered path, and overcoming all obstacles, ultimately prevails.
Queue the applause track; as the curtain falls, our heroic pilgrim lives happily ever after.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
