An MSNBC producer penned an explosive resignation letter on Monday, calling the liberal cable network a “cancer” that is “stoking national division” by amplifying “fringe voices.”
Ariana Pekary, who worked as a producer on “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” said July 24 was her last day on the job after seven years with the network.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore,” Ariana Pekary wrote on her personal website. “My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis.”
“It’s possible that I’m more sensitive to the editorial process due to my background in public radio, where no decision I ever witnessed was predicated on how a topic or guest would ‘rate,’” she continued. “The longer I was at MSNBC, the more I saw such choices — it’s practically baked in to the editorial process – and those decisions affect news content every day. Likewise, it’s taboo to discuss how the ratings scheme distorts content, or it’s simply taken for granted, because everyone in the commercial broadcast news industry is doing the exact same thing.

Larry C. Johnson: Yes, New Evidence Shows George Floyd Killed Himself
First there was the transcript. I wrote about that on 11 July (see here). Now we have the video. Floyd was complaining of not being able to breathe at least five minutes before the police were forced by Floyd to put him on the ground. The transcript I posted on the 11th shows clear evidence that George Floyd was complaining of not being able to breath. This video provides the visual proof. George Floyd was not killed by police. He was suffering respiratory distress caused by a Fentanyl overdose. His inability to breathe had nothing to do with the neck restraint applied by the Minneapolis police.
Now we know that the entire premise of the Black Lives Matter riots was based on a false claim of police abuse. Derek Chauvin did not murder George Floyd. George Floyd, a criminal and drug addict, killed himself by ingesting a drug that Doctors use to shutdown a patient’s respiratory system.

Veepstakes Derailed: Joe Biden's VP Rollout Has Devolved Into a Total Train Wreck
Former Vice President Joe Biden emerged from the bunker to say he would announce his running mate in the first week in August. Now, that’s been delayed after what appears to be quite a disastrous rollout. For starters, we got a glimpse into his top picks. California Sen. Kamala Harris appears to have been his choice. Politico published a piece noting as such, with a quote from Biden as to why he picked Harris to be on the ticket with him. The publication quickly scrubbed the article, but the Internet is forever. An editor’s note was issued, but it didn’t address the quote from Biden. Was it fake? And then, an AP photo captured Biden’s notes, which contained talking points about Harris during the Wilmington presser last Tuesday. In all, this is quite a nightmare (via NY Post):
Joe Biden is not expected to pick a running mate until at least Aug. 10. The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee had previously said he expected to name someone to the job by the first of the month.
The late in the game decision will put the announcement just one week before the Democratic convention that will officially designate the pair as the party’s presidential and vice presidential nominees.
Biden, 77, would become the oldest person ever elected president if he triumphs in November and many believe he would only serve one term. That combination of factors has injected particular urgency into the veepstakes as whoever is selected would become an instant 2024 frontrunner and potentially shape the party for years beyond.
In March, Biden promised to choose a woman for the job and since then may names have risen and fallen. Sen. Kamala Harris, Rep. Karen Bass, and former National Security Advisor Susan Rice are among the current finalists.

On New Voter Registration in Key States, Trump Is Blowing Biden Out of the Water
While polling continues to show President Trump behind Biden in key swing states, new voter registration numbers are telling a different story about his chances to win re-election in November.
According to Axios, the RNC continues to register more voters than the Democratic Party in places where it will matter most.
The Trump campaign and RNC have now registered 100,000 new voters in the 2020 cycle, more than doubling their numbers from 2016 and shrinking Democrats' registration advantage in key swing states, according to new Trump Victory data provided exclusively to Axios.

Democrats still have more active registered voters in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida, but Republicans have managed to narrow the margins in those states by tens of thousands of voters since 2016.
Republicans have narrowed the voter registration gap in key swing states, according to Axios' reviews of those states records.
Republicans have lessened the margin by 133,000 registered voters in Pennsylvania and 87,000 voters in Florida.
Republicans have also chipped away at Democrats' advantage in the tossup state of North Carolina — gaining a net 216,410 voters since Election Day 2016.

Unmasking Obama: A New Portrait of an Opaque President
I am a proud Lilliputian.
Jack Cashill’s wonderful new book, Unmasking Obama: The Fight to Tell the True Story of a Failed Presidency, has put me and all my colleagues in conservative media and punditry in the appropriate weight class in his sometimes whimsical, yet always powerful, analysis of the Obama administration.
Cashill accurately equates those of us who have fought for years to dig facts out about the amazingly opaque man, Barack Obama, and his administration with the little inhabitants of Lilliput. Occasionally, we succeed in locating a revelation here or there amidst the murk, busily working away like those diminutive characters in Jonathan Swift’s classic, Gulliver’s Travels. The characterization is especially apt considering the power of our opposition in the monolithic Deep State, which heralded Obama as the next Coming of the Messiah. Those Deep Staters in government, along with their media, Hollywood and Big Tech confederates, did everything possible to protect Obama from scrutiny.
The book does an excellent job of laying out the political/media landscape – the nature and tactics of both those on the political left hell-bent on protecting the beloved Obama and those on the political right seeking to expose him and his agenda. The book is largely an exposition of the corrupt modern mass media. But it is much more.

The Newest Demon In The Left's Sights: Woke White Women
Today it’s “Nice White Parents.”
That’s the title of a new podcast distributed by the New York Times which argues that many black and brown children are not excelling in our public schools because of “what is arguably the most powerful force in our schools: White parents."
Specifically, liberal white parents who espouse enlightened views on race but then refuse to send their children to truly integrated schools - e.g. minority-majority without separate “gifted and talented” tracks - for fear they will be shortchanging their kids. Apart from the complex educational issues at play -- including the inflammatory suggestion that minorities need to be around whites to succeed – the podcast reflects the left’s broader effort to demonize an unlikely group as it seeks to reduce every issue in American life to questions of race: liberal white women.
Trump-supporting conservatives and “patriarchal white males” are still in their crosshairs, but these women, long considered key allies in the cause, have become chief targets.
One example is the prevalence of the “Karen meme,” a social media label applied to white women allegedly exercising their “white privilege.” In some cases – such as the New York City woman who called the police on an African American birdwatcher in Central Park – it describes people who actually engage in racist actions. More often it involves far more ambiguous conflicts and micro-aggressions. But the larger message is clear: Karen resides in the heart of all white women, who have a conscious or unconscious desire to dominate minorities.

New York's wealthy Upper East Side reports a shocking 286% increase in robberies
New York City's wealthiest neighborhood is grappling with a spike in armed robberies, new data reveals.
Manhattan's Upper East Side has seen 27 robberies over the past four weeks - a 286 percent increase when compared to the same period last year, according to the NYPD.
Alarmingly, a significant number of those have involved locals being held up at gunpoint.
For the entirety of 2019, the Upper East Side only reported four armed robberies. This year, 14 have already been reported.
The figures are causing alarm in the ritzy neighborhood, where residents boast an average annual income of $322,400.
The Upper East Side is also known for its high concentration of billionaires - and some of the crimes have taken place just feet from their lavish residences.

The Real Reason Democrats are Pushing for Mail-In Ballots
Mail-in ballots are the latest talking point for Democrats and their media allies. They claim this will keep voters safe from the Wuhan virus, even though it is burning itself out quite nicely on its own.
The surges in cases we are seeing across the country mean that more and more of the population have been exposed to the virus. The vast majority are not getting sick; in fact, most don't even know they are ill, and they are getting tested due to potential exposure, for return to work or travel or simply because the tests are widely available and free under most insurance plans.
Once the virus tears through a population, there are fewer left to infect, and it goes away. A summer surge in positive tests brings us closer to herd immunity, and this will likely burn itself out by fall. Normal colds and seasonal flu may complicate things, but that's another story.
The compassionate Democrats say it's too dangerous to wait in line to vote. Yet it was fine for hundreds to wait in line for John Lewis's funeral procession. Hypocrisy is on full display when it comes to the Chinese coronavirus.
The all-knowing, all-caring Dr. Anthony Fauci donned a large mask while standing all alone on the pitcher's mound waiting to launch his ill fated pitch closer to the dugout than home plate. Yet in the bleachers, he was yukking it up with some pals, forgetting all about masks and social distancing.

Governor Hogan Demands Action From State Board of Elections on Mail-In Voting and Polling Places for General Election
ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today sent a letter to the State Board of Elections (SBE) demanding an update within 48 hours on the status of mail-in voting and polling places for the November 3 general election.
With the State Board of Elections unable to reach consensus on a plan, the November 3 election is occurring under existing state law, which allows Marylanders to vote by mail, take part in early voting, or cast their ballot in person on Election Day if they choose to do so. This is consistent with CDC guidelines, which recommend giving voters a variety of choices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On July 10, to help enhance voting options, the governor directed the State Board of Elections to promptly send mail-in ballot applications to voters. The administration has also begun actively encouraging state employees and college students to serve as election judges.
“I am now giving SBE 48 hours to report to me, the Board of Public Works, the Secretary of State, the presiding officers of the Maryland General Assembly, and the public explaining why those applications have not been mailed to Marylanders,” wrote Governor Hogan. “In addition, we expect you to provide your plan for how to conduct the election under existing law, including the minimum number of polling places that you will be able to open in each county.” Read the governor’s letter here.
In the letter, the governor expresses serious concerns about polling places being closed, particularly in minority communities. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 explicitly prohibits “deny[ing] or abridg[ing] the right of any citizen of the United States to vote on account of race or color.” Section 1983 prohibits depriving any person “of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws.”

Report: Feds have confiscated $2 billion from travelers
A new study reveals that between 2000 and 2016 the federal government, through its Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection agencies, confiscated some $2 billion in cash from travelers.
Only a tiny fraction eventually was linked to any allegation of criminal activity.
The study by the Institute for Justice is part of its battle against civil forfeiture processes in the United States that allow government agents to take cash away from citizens.
Sometimes, eventually, they are forced to give it back.

Pence on Cuomo’s Criticisms: His ‘Poor Decisions’ Cost Lives, He’s Praised Trump in the Past
On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” Vice President Mike Pence responded to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) criticisms of the Trump administration’s coronavirus response by blaming some of the deaths in New York on Cuomo’s policies and by pointing to Cuomo’s past praise of President Trump’s coronavirus response.
Pence said, “Well, our hearts grieve for the fact that one in five of all the American lives that have been lost in the coronavirus pandemic were lost in the state of New York and some of that was because of poor decisions by the state and by Gov. Cuomo. But look, I liked it better when he said that President Trump’s leadership in the pandemic was, in his words, phenomenal. He said that repeatedly as we surged testing, as we surged PPE, as we sailed in a hospital ship, as we built hospitals in New York. I couldn’t be more proud of the support that we rendered to the people of New York. … Gov. Cuomo has been on again off again. He’s complimented the administration’s response and then he pivots to criticism, I think people see through that. It’s just politics.”

Poll: Most Likely Voters Believe Violent Protests Are Hallmarked by Criminals
Most likely U.S. voters believe the violent protests dominating several cities nationwide are dominated by criminals “taking advantage of the situation” a Rasmussen poll released Monday revealed.
Rasmussen Reports conducted the survey on July 29-30, 2020, among 1,000 likely voters and asked, “Is the mob violence that has continued for weeks in several major cities primarily legitimate outrage over the police or mostly criminals taking advantage of the situation?”
The majority of voters, or 57 percent, said that the violent protests are comprised of “mostly criminals” who are taking advantage of the general waves of unrest. Only 32 percent expressed the belief that mob violence is fueled by “legitimate outrage over the police.” Twelve percent of respondents indicated that they remain unsure.
While younger respondents are more likely to view the violent protests as stemming from legitimate outrage, 49 percent of younger voters think it is “primarily criminal instead.”
“While 56% of whites and 70% of other minority voters say the ongoing mob violence is largely criminal, just 37% of blacks agree. Forty-one percent (41%) of black voters say it’s mostly legitimate outrage,” Rasmussen reported.

Good News! Trump Is Registering More New Voters than Democrats in Key Swing States
This is incredible news for the Trump campaign.
Trump is registering more new voters than Democrats in key states.
“The Trump campaign and RNC have now registered 100,000 new voters in the 2020 cycle, more than doubling their numbers from 2016 and shrinking Democrats’ registration advantage in key swing states, according to new Trump Victory data provided exclusively to Axios.
“But Republicans have narrowed the voter registration gap in key swing states, according to Axios’ reviews of those states records.
Republicans have lessened the margin by 133,000 registered voters in Pennsylvania and 87,000 voters in Florida.
Republicans have also chipped away at Democrats’ advantage in the tossup state of North Carolina — gaining a net 216,410 voters since Election Day 2016.
Meanwhile in Arizona and Iowa, Trump Victory has managed to slow voter registration momentum behind Democrats.
In Iowa, the number of registered Democratic voters surpassed Republicans in March, but Republicans recently took back the advantage.
Democrats had been outpacing Republicans in Arizona as well — but since April, Republicans have overtaken them.

Schools Should Open--Teacher Unions Are Wrong to Fight It
Schools aren’t that risky, and teachers are essential workers. We must reopen.
This week, public school teachers in D.C. marched to protest opening schools next month, placing fake body bags outside the school district’s office. They brought signs saying “RIP Favorite Teacher,” “killed in the line of duty” and “how many will you let die?” They are not alone. According to an Education Week poll released last month, 65 percent of public school teachers and administrators want to keep schools closed this fall, while just 35 percent want to reopen.
Maybe they should have brought signs that read “I’m not essential” — because that is what they are telling us.
At the height of the pandemic, millions of grocery clerks, factory workers, food processors, truck drivers, railroad workers, mass transit workers, sanitation workers, utility workers, police officers and firefighters continued showing up for work — because it was essential that they do so. Are teachers less essential than these professions? Apparently, they think so.

Biden the Former Deficit Hawk Wants to Be Biden the Big Spender
The Democratic nominee envisions trillions of dollars in new outlays to address the environment and inequality.
Joe Biden, who’s spent decades warning about the dangers of budget deficits, will inherit one of the biggest in U.S. history if he becomes president—and he’ll be in no rush to pare it back.
That’s the signal the Democratic candidate is sending after his campaign rolled out a $3.5 trillion economic program over the past month. It promises to invest in clean energy and caregiving, buy more made-in-America goods, and start narrowing the country’sracial wealth gaps.
The bill for this agenda is modest in comparison with the universal health-care and student loan forgiveness plans backed by some of Biden’s primary season rivals. Still, it would come right after the U.S.’s multitrillion-dollar fight to pull its economy out of a pandemic slump. This year’s budget shortfall is forecast to exceed 17% of gross domestic product, the most since the country mobilized to fight World War II.
All that red ink might have been a problem for past incarnations of Biden. First elected to the U.S. Senate in the 1970s, he has a history of urging fiscal restraint. In the 1990s he twice voted for unsuccessful Republican efforts to make balanced budgets compulsory by amending the Constitution. And as a presidential candidate in 2007, he signaled that he would consider trimming spending on Social Security and Medicare in the interest of sound public finances.
Since then there’s been a sea change in American politics and economics.

Since then there’s been a sea change in American politics and economics.

Things are definitely going to look different this year thanks to some circumstances beyond anyone’s control. COVID-19 threw the entire planet a curve ball earlier this year, and with the way the world has been looking we’re thankful that the WMO is even happening. Last week there was buzz around the docks that the WMO could have a reely good turnout like some of the other tournaments have been seeing this year…..Enter Tropical Strom Isaias. WMO tournament directors decided based on the early forecast for this coming week to extend the tournament through Sunday, August 9. That allows two extra days of fishing making this year’s tournament a fish 3 of 7 day event.

Berlin Chamber Announces Fiddlers Show Will Not Go On In September
BERLIN – The Berlin Fiddlers Convention will not take place next month as COVID-19 remains a concern.
The Berlin Chamber of Commerce announced in a statement Monday that in an abundance of caution the Fiddlers Convention, set for Sept. 25-27, had been canceled.
“This event has been a favorite of visitors and locals for almost three decades and will be sorely missed by all,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, the global pandemic and the very thing that makes our narrow streets such an endearing venue also prevent us from responsibly hosting a large-scale event and ensure the safety of our visitors, musicians, vendors, sponsors, merchants and volunteers.”
Ivy Wells, the town’s economic and community development director, said she understood the reasoning behind the cancelation, as the event was three days and drew large crowds of both performers and attendees.

Trump signs Executive Order restricting H1B Visa Opportunities
President Donald Trump signed a new executive order Monday that seeks to prioritize federal agencies hiring U.S. citizens and green card holders over foreign workers for high-skilled contract work.
The Hiring American order limits federal agencies’ abilities to hire temporary foreign workers for high-skilled contract work and specifically prevents agencies from firing and replacing citizens and permanent residents with temporary workers in IT contract positions. The order also directs the government to conduct a study to assess how many temporary foreign workers are federally employed contractors, according to Bloomberg
“President Trump will not tolerate lucrative federal contractors firing hardworking Americans in the pursuit of cheap foreign labor, like at the Tennessee Valley Authority,” White House assistant press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Daily Caller of the order. “Today’s Executive Order prevents this tragedy from occurring, encourages federal employers to hire Americans first, and yet again delivers on the President’s promise to secure jobs on the homeland.”

Dr Brix says Americans may have to start wearing Mask inside their homes
Enforcement of mandatory mask order would require draconian police powers.
Dr. Deborah Birx has suggested that Americans may have to start wearing masks inside their own homes in order to fight the spread of coronavirus.
“What we are seeing today is different from March and April. It is extraordinarily widespread. It’s into the rural as equal urban areas,” Birx told CNN.
She then suggested that some Americans may need to cover their faces inside their own homes in order to protect other family members.
“If you’re in multi-generational households, and there’s an outbreak in your rural area or in your city, you need to really consider wearing a mask at home,” said Birx.
The doctor’s advice echoes that of the Texas Division of Emergency Management head Nim Kidd, who said people should wear masks indoors if they have potentially exposed themselves to the virus by being outside.
Florida’s state Democrats have also called for mandatory mask orders which would enforce wearing them inside homes, while residents of Miami and Miami-Dade County have also been told by mayors to wear masks indoors.

Nancy Pelosi: 'Cannabis.. is a Therapy that proven successful for COVID?
(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) countered a reporter's statement that the HEROES Act included elements that were “not directly related to COVID”--such as a provision allowing banks to do business with marijuana retailers--by stating that “cannabis…is a therapy that has proven successful” in dealing with COVID-19.
“Republicans and the administration got a lot of heat when they released their bill because there was a lot of unrelated things in there, including money for the FBI building, money for the defense, to replenish the wall,” the reporter said to Pelosi.
