Gowdy: FBI Concealed Hillary Clinton's Role In Steele Dossier

‘They could have easily said it was the DNC and Hillary Clinton. That would have been really easy,’ he says

The House’s top investigator on Sunday said the FBI failed to notify a surveillance court it was relying on material funded by Democrats and the Hillary Clinton campaign when it asked to snoop on an adviser tied to the Trump campaign.

Did Fusion Buy DOJ Access By Paying Wife?

Under a contract from the Clinton campaign, the Fusion GPS research firm was paying the wife of a senior Department of Justice official as part of its efforts to gather opposition research on Trump, and the same official then brought that research to the FBI.

Knowledge of the relationship has raised questions about the extent to which the firm may have paid for heightened access to the criminal justice system, and whether they would have hired Nellie Ohr absent her spousal connection to the DoJ.

A declassified memo said Bruce “Ohr’s wife was employed by Fusion GPS to assist in the cultivation of opposition research on Trump. Ohr later provided the FBI with all of his wife’s opposition research, paid for by the DNC and Clinton campaign via Fusion GPS. The Ohrs’ relationship with Steele and Fusion GPS was inexplicably concealed from the” court when it was used to obtain a surveillance warrant.

Trump Says "Little" Adam Schiff "Must Be Stopped"

Update 1045ET: Trump ignored Schiff's response but continued the memo rhetoric escalation by praising Devin Nunes as "a man of tremendous courage and grit, may someday be recognized as a Great American Hero for what he has exposed and what he has had to endure!"
Representative Devin Nunes, a man of tremendous courage and grit, may someday be recognized as a Great American Hero for what he has exposed and what he has had to endure!
Update 0910ET: Rep. Schiff was quick to respond to the president with his own tweet:

"Mr. President, I see you’ve had a busy morning of “Executive Time.” Instead of tweeting false smears, the American people would appreciate it if you turned off the TV and helped solve the funding crisis, protected Dreamers or...really anything else."

Having spent the weekend accusing Russians of pushing the 2nd Amendment so that Americans kill each other, expressing his disgusts at the release of the GOP's memo (and its potential to do real harm and expose 'methods') while also pushing for the release of the Democrats' memo, and potentially leaking "confidential" information, California Congressman Adam Schiff has finally made it to the top of President Trump's shit-list.

Italy's Berlusconi calls immigration a 'social bomb'

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has pledged to deport 600,000 illegal migrants if he is re-elected.

Warning of a 'social time bomb ready to explode', the 81-year-old said in a TV interview his centre-right coalition would remove those who 'do not have the right to stay'.

'Immigration has become an urgent question, because after years with a leftwing government, there are 600,000 migrants who don't have the right to stay,' he said.

Eight Foods That Fight Inflammation

Often we meet a friend we haven't seen for a few years, and they've barely changed at all. Others have aged so much we barely recognize them. The difference? Good genes can't be discounted, but the most important elements of aging involve lifestyle, especially eating a healthy diet.

Some foods are better than others in battling Father Time, especially those that fight inflammation. These eight foods have special nutrients that help you turn back the clock:

• Fish. Fatty fish, like salmon, tuna, and mackerel, contain large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids that fight many of the diseases of aging, including cardiovascular disease by preventing the buildup of cholesterol in arteries. Fatty fish, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, also fights Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, cancer, and helps keep skin young. The American Heart Association recommends two servings a week.

Soros-Funded Groups Are Behind Campaign Opposing Israel’s Deportation of Illegal Migrants

TEL AVIV — Organizations financed by billionaire George Soros, a champion of open border policies, have been leading the opposition here to Israel’s decision to enforce its law by seeking to deport illegal African migrant infiltrators.

Israel on Sunday announced it will begin issuing deportation notices to men without children who arrived illegally from Eritrea and Sudan largely seeking work.

The move is the first stage of an Israeli government plan to enact a Knesset-approved Infiltrator’s Bill, which allows the country to forcibly deport illegal infiltrators, with exceptions for children, the elderly, parents of dependent minors, those with refugee applications pending and victims of slavery or human trafficking. From 2007 until 2012, when Israel started constructing a barrier along its border with Egypt, about 61,000 illegals were able to infiltrate Israel, with most being economic migrants originating from Africa.

The issue of Soros’ fingerprints on a campaign opposing Israel’s immigration policies came up following a report on Sunday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the billionaire for funding anti-deportation protests.

Previously Deported Mexican Convicted of Raping 9-Year-Old Girl in Sanctuary City

An Oregon jury convicted a previously deported Mexican national of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl. The convicted child-rapist has a history of crimes in the U.S.

The little girl’s mother told law enforcement officials in Clackamas County last year that a man broke into their 9 and 5-year-old daughters’ bedroom. The man came through the window of their apartment at night on February 25 and sexually assaulted their daughter. Although he escaped through a window, law enforcement officials were able to find his fingerprints, KATU2 in Portland, Oregon reported.

Breitbart Texas reported that federal officers arrested 48-year-old Santiago Flores-Martinez when he was trying to cross back into Mexico in late April. The port’s Anti-Terrorism Contraband Enforcement Team (A-TCET) apprehended the Mexican national at the San Ysidro port of entry.

Stanford students felt ‘unsafe and hurt’ over satirical posters defending ICE agents

Students at Stanford University were reportedly brought to tears by satirical posters defending Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The flyers were hung up on Jan. 24 by Isaac Kipust, who said they were a response to posters that encouraged students to report any immigration-enforcement activity on campus.

“Call to receive immediate support if you see law enforcement authorities doing their job!” the satirical flyers read. “Beloved community criminals deserve protection from Trump’s tyranny.”

All of the flyers were taken down on the same day they were put up, Mr. Kipust said, because they made three students feel “unsafe and hurt.”

Do NOT let your child get swept up by the Super Bowl

American football may never be the same again after this Super Bowl.

That isn't because the New England Patriots' star quarterback Tom Brady may retire soon (though that will be a significant moment in NFL history), nor the saga of kneeling during the national anthem, which permeated all major sports.

It is because this has been the most groundbreaking year to date in terms of research proving links between football tackles and neurodegenerative brain diseases, including dementia, ALS, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

As those studies have emerged, the rate of children playing American football has declined - a trend which threatens to shrink the next generation of fans and players if it continues.

'Waste of Time': Trump Rejects McCain-Coons Immigration Plan

‘Any deal on DACA that does not include desperately needed wall is a total waste of time,’ says president

President Trump rejected a proposed immigration bill drafted by Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Chris Coons (D-DE) that doesn’t include any funding for a wall along the southern border.

McCain and Coons formally introduced a bill that would grant DACA recipients amnesty and bolster border security, but it doesn’t include any authorization spending for the $25 billion Trump is seeking to build a fortified border wall.

“While reaching a deal cannot come soon enough for America’s service members, the current political reality demands bipartisan cooperation to address the impending expiration of the DACA program and secure the southern border,” said McCain.

U.S. Garment Workers Get Wage Raises

American garment workers are reaping the benefits of President Trump’s economic nationalism which seeks to tighten the labor market to increase U.S. wages.

As Breitbart News reported, average hourly wages jumped 2.9 percent compared to last January, much higher than originally expected, while the unemployment rate dropped to an 18-year low at about 4.1 percent.

For the roughly 116,000 U.S. garment workers and clothing manufacturers, Trump’s economic nationalism has translated to wage growth of about 14 percent on average.

Economists and analysts told CNN that the wage increases for garment workers were likely due to businesses having to raise wages in order to retain workers in the industry as immigration enforcement is much stricter under Trump.

Evidence Christopher Steele Misled FBI

Two Republican senators claim to have “substantial evidence” suggesting that former British spy Christopher Steele misled the FBI about “a key aspect” of the infamous dossier.

The senators — Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham — also provided new details about a previously undisclosed memo that Steele wrote based on information provided by a Hillary Clinton associate.

“It is troubling enough that the Clinton Campaign funded Mr. Steele’s work, but that these Clinton associates were contemporaneously feeding Mr. Steele allegations raises additional concerns about his credibility,” Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, wrote Monday.

The details are in a heavily redacted memo that Grassley and Graham released on Monday. The two Republicans sent the document to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein last month along with a letter referring Steele for criminal investigation.

William Happer Says Climate Models Are Bad

Princeton University physicist William Happer is not a fan of models used to predict future manmade global warming, and stars in a new educational video laying out the reasons he believes climate models are faulty.

“And I know they don’t work. They haven’t worked in the past. They don’t work now. And it’s hard to imagine when, if ever, they’ll work in the foreseeable future,” Happer said in a video produced by PragerU.

In the video, Happer argues that even supercomputers used to predict the weather and forecast future global warming aren’t strong enough to capture the complexity of Earth’s atmosphere, including cloud cover and natural ocean cycles.

“That’s why, over the last 30 years, one climate prediction after another — based on computer models — has been wrong,” Happer said in the video. “They’re wrong because even the most powerful computers can’t solve all the equations needed to accurately describe climate.”

This Tiny Corner Of Rhode Island Shows Us The Future Of Social Security

The United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit gave us an interesting glimpse of the future last week when it ruled on an obscure case involving government pension obligations.

The United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit gave us an interesting glimpse of the future last week when it ruled on an obscure case involving government pension obligations.

But, facing critical budget shortfalls over the last several years that the Rhode Island government called “fiscal peril,” the state legislature voted to unilaterally reduce public employees’ pension benefits.

Even more, these cuts were retroactive, i.e. they didn’t just apply to new employees.

The changes were applied across the board; workers who had spent their entire careers being promised certain retirement benefits ended up having their pensions cut as well.

Even the court acknowledged that these changes “substantially reduced the value of public employee pensions provided by the Rhode Island system.”

So, naturally, a number of municipal employee unions sued.

And the case of Cranston’s police and fire fighter unions made it all the way to federal court.

National Burn Awareness Week

The Office of the State Fire Marshal reminds all Marylanders that burn injuries occur from other sources than fire. Each year, many young children, adolescents and adults experience serious burn injuries from chemical, hot liquids, heated devices and fire related incidents. Almost one-quarter of all burn injuries occur in children under the age of 15. Burn safety advocates nationwide make a collaborative effort this time each year to help remind the public of burn injury prevention.

Each year, over 486,000 individuals were seen in emergency departments, minor emergency clinics or physician’s offices for the treatment of a burn injury in the United States. The majority of burn injuries that are treated in burn centers occur in the home followed by a much smaller percentage in the workplace. Nine out of ten people treated for fire or burn injuries were treated and released. In 2016 there were 3,390 civilian deaths from fires. The majority of these injuries were preventable. This is why the American Burn Association and its Burn Prevention Committee wants to bring awareness to the cause of such devastating and costly injuries and encourage the public to make simple environmental and behavioral changes that has proven to mitigate this problem.

Using the term “M. O. B.,” (Mechanisms of Burn) for the national campaign, the many ways in which a burn injury may occur is addressed. The campaign’s unique approach features a law and order motif. The many causes of burns (Flame, scald, electrical, etc.) are identified as “criminals” being sought after by “Police Commissioner Sean O’Safety.” Fire and Life Safety Educators, parents and others are given the opportunity to explore the various ways in which a “criminal” may cause a burn. Specific topics address the mechanism of injury for various age groups and persons with disabilities. For example, Larry “The Steamer” Liquids, may cause a burn in a different manner to a young child, then an older adult; or William “The Wire,” Electricity may cause in electrical injury in many forms. By arming themselves with the knowledge of the many different ways a burn injury could occur, individuals may take the necessary steps to ensure a safe environment for themselves and their loved ones.

'Poor People's Campaign' Readies Nationwide Mobilization

The renewed version of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s campaign to lift poor people is holding its first national mobilization, with actions and events planned Monday in 32 states and the nation's capital.

Poor people, clergy and activists in the Poor People's Campaign plan to deliver letters to politicians in state Capitol buildings demanding that leaders confront what they call systemic racism evidenced in voter suppression laws and poverty rates.

Among those who have signed on to the campaign is the Rev. John Mendez, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, who recalled protesting in New York City in the 1960s.

"I've been waiting for almost 50 years for this to actually happen," said Mendez, 68.

The campaign is especially important now because the leaders who don't want to help the poor "should not have a free hand to say and do whatever they want and there be no resistance," he said.

The letters to politicians call for a new course in government. "Our faith traditions and state and federal constitutions all testify to the immorality of an economy that leaves out the poor, yet our political discourse consistently ignores the 140 million poor and low-income people in America," the letter states.

Philadelphia aims to become first US city to legalize safe injection sites

Some Philadelphia officials want to make history by pushing an effort to make the city the first in the U.S. to allow drug users to shoot up at a medically supervised facility.

The city overdose-related deaths peaked last year to about 1,200. And city health officials want to cut down on the overdoses and deaths through this unique – and controversial – approach.

“We haven’t seen a public health emergency like this in the last century,” said Thomas Farley, Health Commissioner for Philadelphia. “It’s time for us to rethink our assumptions, and consider options we hadn’t seen before.

Unlike similar efforts by other cities, the injection sites would not need City Council approval because they would be privately run.

Israel Begins Telling African Migrants to Leave

Israel began warning thousands of illegal African migrants Sunday that they must leave by the end of March, officials said, under a plan that could see them jailed if they refuse.

On January 3, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced implementation of a plan to deport about 38,000 migrants who had entered the country illegally, mainly Eritreans and Sudanese.

The controversial plan gives them until the end of next month to leave voluntarily or face jail and eventual expulsion.

Immigration authority spokeswoman Sabine Haddad told AFP that officials began issuing migrants letters on Sunday advising them that they had 60 days in which to leave the country voluntarily.

For now, the notices are being given only to men without families, officials said.

Trump Attorneys Approve Second Special Counsel To Probe FBI and DOJ

The war between the White House and the FBI/DOJ complex may be turning nuclear.

While speaking to reported aboard Air Force 1, Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said that President Trump's attorneys have already approved the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI and Justice Department's actions during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to White House pool reports.

The excerpt from the pool in question:

*FISA warrant should it be released? and what about a second special counsel?*

Presidents attorneys have addressed this and said yes to a second special counsel.

FISA: That document along with any other that the House Intelligence Committee chooses to vote out of its committee through its process and all the House procedures, we would entertain like anything else.

As Axios adds, Shah also said that the White House will approach further memos, including the one created by Democrats, in the same way they handled the memo authored by Devin Nunes:

"Which is to allow for a legal review, national security review led by the White House Counsel’s Office, and then within five days the president will make a decision about declassifying it," said Shah.

Gowdy: The House Intelligence Committee is looking at 5 FBI employees, not the whole bureau

Rep. Trey Gowdy said there might be about five FBI employees whose actions have been suspect in the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the whole bureau should not be attacked.

“I have tremendous respect for the bureau, there are 30,000 employees, let's assume that there are five that engaged in conduct that we have questions about,” Gowdy said on CBS’ “Face The Nation” Sunday.

Gowdy said the partisan tone of the investigation has become a major problem. He said he hopes the release of a four-page memo detailing how the FBI used a controversial dossier compiled on Trump by a political opposition research firm as evidence for a warrant to spy on a Trump campaign adviser is a “one-off.”

“I hope this is a one-off, that Congress takes this position but also hope it's a one-off that a [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] application contains errors and product that is funded by a political opponent. I hope that is a one-off,” he said.

FBI Accused Of Blocking Key Details On "Trump Dossier" Author

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley's push to force the DOJ to open a criminal investigation into ex-British spy and "Trump dossier" author Christopher Steele is being met with resistance from the bureau, the latest sign that it doesn't want information about its relationship with Steele to be shared with the public.

Bloomberg reported Monday that Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley criticized the FBI for blocking the release of key portions of a memo he wrote calling for a criminal investigation of Christopher Steele, the former British spy who compiled a dossier of unverified allegations on Donald Trump.

Grassley also released the memo in its redacted form to the press.

"Seeking transparency and cooperation should not be this challenging," Grassley said in a statement after posting a heavily redacted version of the criminal referral that he and GOP Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina sent to the Justice Department last month. "The government should not be blotting out information that it admits isn’t secret."

Suspect in Colts' Edwin Jackson, Uber driver deaths previously convicted for drunk driving in California

The man suspected of driving drunk and fatally striking an Indianapolis Colts player and his Uber driver early Sunday had twice been deported and was in the country illegally, police confirmed Monday.

Police say Manuel Orrego-Savala, 37, had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he hit and killed Edwin Jackson, a 26-year-old Colts linebacker, and 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe, Jackson's Uber driver, around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Wisconsin Dems: Obtaining Voter ID Is ‘Free and Easy’

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Monday admitted it is "free and easy" for Wisconsin voters to obtain a photo ID despite arguing in the past that voter ID laws suppress minority voters and disenfranchise "so many people."

The party sent out a tweet on Monday letting voters know that the primary election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court was coming up on Feb. 20 and that it was "free and easy" for voters to obtain a photo ID to vote. The tweet included a link to inform voters about the various forms of ID that are acceptable on election day.

The "MyVote Wisconsin" link noted there is no separate "Voter ID" card required to vote, adding that anyone "with a valid Wisconsin driver license or Wisconsin state ID card" can vote. It also listed eleven other documents that would be accepted at the polling stations.

Democrats have not always thought voter IDs were "free and easy" to obtain in Wisconsin. In the not-so-distant past, Democrats accused Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Republicans in the state of trying to suppress the vote of Democrats and minorities, the Hill reported in 2016.

An Open Letter to the FBI

When LaVoy Finicum was murdered by the FBI two years ago during the Oregon Malheur protest, all the government abuses I had spoken of on my radio, really hit home. They lived near me and I had interviewed most of them prior to going to Oregon.

In light of the current headlines exposing the depth of the FBI corruption and collusion, maybe now the nation can finally grasp how this agency really operates. The FBI corruption also ran deep in the Oregon protest, too. As the media lied and twisted the narrative of what transpired, I felt compelled to shine a light on the truth of what really happened to LaVoy Finicum.

I penned this letter after attending his heartbreaking funeral.

An Open Letter To The FBI

I’ve thought about you. All three of you, with your guns pointed at LaVoy Finicum. The video still haunts me.

I would have been the first one to give you the benefit of the doubt. I was raised around law enforcement. I know good men in law enforcement. But that changed for me, as it did thousands of Americans, with the events that unfurled in Oregon as I felt utterly stunned at what I viewed in that video.

77 Citizens Charged with Committing Insurance Fraud in 2017

Criminal and civil orders result in $466,000 in fines and penalties

BALTIMORE –
The Maryland Insurance Administration continues to partner with federal, state and local government agencies, insurance carriers and producers to investigate and prosecute individuals and businesses for committing insurance fraud. For the calendar year 2017, Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, Jr. authorized civil orders and criminal charges totaling $466,261 in fines, penalties and restitution. Insurance fraud is one of the most costly crimes in the country, costing consumers directly in the form of higher premiums.

“Our Insurance Fraud Division continues to investigate all tips regarding suspected civil and criminal insurance fraud,” said Commissioner Redmer. “We want Marylanders to know they can and should call us if they suspect insurance fraud. All tips are confidential and we follow up on each lead. The bad actors need to be held accountable for their actions.”

Over 40 individuals were ordered to pay $200,514 in administrative penalties and restitution for committing civil insurance fraud in Maryland. Additionally, the investigative work of the Insurance Fraud Division of the Maryland Insurance Administration led to 37 people being criminally prosecuted for committing insurance fraud, resulting in $265,747 in fines, penalties and restitution.

Clinton associates fed information to Trump dossier author Steele, memo says

Clinton associates were "feeding" allegations to former British spy Christopher Steele at the same time he was compiling the controversial anti-Trump dossier paid for by the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign, according to an unclassified memo from senior Senate Republicans who recently made a criminal referral.

Those Republicans, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., had asked the Justice Department in January to investigate Steele based on evidence they say suggests he lied to the FBI about his contacts with the media (a violation of 18 USC 1001) -- or the FBI misrepresented Steele’s statements.

The lawmakers are now asking the FBI for an emergency review of their criminal referral so it can be made public, with limited redactions.

Steele already is under scrutiny over the unverified Trump dossier, which a House Intelligence Committee document released last Friday alleged was at the heart of the FBI and DOJ’s request for a surveillance warrant for a Trump associate.

Thousands Of Jobs In Ohio Are Left Unfilled Because People Can’t ‘Pass A Drug Test’

The manufacturing industry in Ohio is expanding under the Trump administration, but growth is stunted because many potential employees are also addicted to drugs.

Steve Staub, who runs Staub Manufacturing Solutions in Ohio, attended the State of the Union address Tuesday as a special guest to President Donald Trump. While there, aside from participating in the pageantry, Staub discussed problems in the manufacturing industry and business in general with the president.

Staub mentioned to Trump the toll the opioid crisis has had on business’ ability to fill jobs. About two million Americans nationwide are addicted to the drug. The crisis has been particularly hard on Staub’s home state of Ohio, were thousands of job applicants are turned away because of substance abuse.

“In Ohio alone, they have about 20,000 available jobs in manufacturing. In Dayton, Ohio, where I’m from, we have about 4,000 jobs available today in manufacturing that we can’t fill,” Staub told TheDCNF. “We can’t get people to pass a drug test.”

The arrests occurred during 3,935 traffic stops made by troopers working traffic safety initiatives that included additional patrols, sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and speed enforcement. Troopers issued 2,657 citations, 2,547 warnings and 542 safety equipment repair orders. Troopers at each of the 23 Maryland State Police barracks were involved in special enforcement operations during the Super Bowl weekend.

The Maryland State Police continue to support the Maryland Department of Transportation’s campaign “Toward Zero Deaths.” These high visibility enforcement efforts reduce the number of aggressive driving, motor vehicle crashes in which speed, alcohol and other driving violations are contributing factors to crashes on Maryland roads. Troopers will continue these initiatives throughout the year.

Fed Drops Hammer on Wells Fargo, Ousts Four Directors, Orders Bank Not To Grow

The Federal Reserve Friday ordered Wells Fargo not to grow until it improves its governance and to replace four board members, citing “widespread consumer abuses.”

In an order announced late Friday, the Fed said that the bank could not grow its assets beyond levels reported at the end of 2017 until it gets prior regulatory approval. The bank, America’s second largest by asset size, was also told to replace three members of its board of directors by April and to replace one more by the end of the year.

“We cannot tolerate pervasive and persistent misconduct at any bank and the consumers harmed by Wells Fargo expect that robust and comprehensive reforms will be put in place to make certain that the abuses do not occur again,” Fed chair Janet Yellen said in a statement.

The penalties imposed on Wells Fargo are unusually harsh, perhaps unprecedented. They would appear to reflect the frustration of regulators with the bank’s reluctance to take more serious measures to address years of misconduct.
