UC Berkeley instructor calls rural Americans 'bad people' who deserve 'uncomfortable' lives

A UC Berkeley graduate student and instructor took to Twitter to shame "rural Americans" and those who aren't "pro-city."

Jackson Kernion, who has reportedly taught at least 11 philosophy courses at the California university, made the comments last Wednesday.

"I unironically embrace the bashing of rural Americans," Kernion wrote in a now-deleted tweet. "They, as a group, are bad people who have made bad life decisions...and we should shame people who aren't pro-city."

Kernion started going after rural citizens, saying they should have higher health care, pay more in taxes and be forced to live an "uncomfortable" life for rejecting "efficient" city life, Campus Reform reported.

Sometime middle of last week, Family Dollar at 1005 Snow Hill Road had a robbery.

A white female approx 5' 8 " about 100 lbs with tattoo markings of the Number 1, 2, 3, 4 on her neck and forearm, reached across the counter, stealing a employees wallet. She than ran towards the exit door; knocking other shoppers out of the way, and jumped into a white van marked " KITCHEN CONCEPTS" and drove to the store located @ 1001 Eastern Shore Drive in Salisbury.

Salisbury Police responded to family dollar, and all robbery evidence, escape route, and Van identification was clearly noted on CCTV @ that Salisbury family dollar store.

SPD has yet arrested this woman or returned the employees wallet to the rightful owner at Family Dollar.

I asked the employee at family dollar on 11-11-2019 while shopping and noting the managers concerns....why the wallet was in reaching distance. The employee responded I just got a soda , and was about to place the wallet in my pocket, when the robbery took place.

Jake Day ran on no crime in Dabury.....and he lied his AZZ OFF.

Hillary Says She’s ‘Under Enormous Pressure’ To Run For President, But Doesn’t Say From Who

Hillary Clinton refused to rule out a 2020 presidential run Monday, and said she is “under enormous pressure” to do so.

“As I say, never, never, never say never,” Clinton said in an interview with BBC Radio 5 when she was asked about a future presidential bid.

Clinton’s remarks will no doubt fuel speculation that the failed 2016 presidential candidate will jump into a crowded Democratic field in hopes of challenging President Donald Trump.

Supreme Court lets Sandy Hook families' lawsuit against gunmaker proceed

In an order released Tuesday, the Supreme Court allowed families of Sandy Hook victims to proceed with a lawsuit against gun manufacturer Remington Arms despite the company's claims that it was protected from liability by federal law.

Remington had petitioned the Supreme Court to reverse a March 2019 decision by the Connecticut Supreme Court, which ruled 4-3 that Remington could be sued under state law over its marketing practices, citing one of the few exemptions to the federal law.

The gunmaker argued that the state court's interpretation of the marketing exemption is, "intolerable given Congress's 'intention to create national uniformity'" with the federal law, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. "As the dissenters below noted, lawsuits like this one are precisely the kind the PLCAA was enacted to prevent."

Baltimore Murder Crisis Could Hit Record, About To Record 300 Homicides For Fifth Straight Year

The murder crisis in Baltimore City could set a record this year.

The current homicide count is 296 as of Sunday afternoon, following a fatal shooting Saturday morning.

In the next week, the murder count could breach 300 for the fifth year in a row.

With 57 days left in the year, the city could record the most murders ever, would need to break 344 homicides, a record that was set in 2015.

Councilman Leon Pickett, who represents Baltimore's seventh district, told CBS 13 Baltimore that the murder crisis is "unacceptable."

HOW TO HACK A VOTING MACHINE IN TWO MINUTES

Voting machines are far from impenetrable. There’s remote access loopholes, general corporate malfeasance, and democracy-shattering bad design, for starters. And then there are hacks like this.

In a video posted to Twitter, Rachel Tobac, CEO of white hat hacker group SocialProof Security, showed just how easy it was to obtain admin access to one of the most popular electronic voting machines in the U.S. The hack takes about two minutes and requires no specialized equipment (save a ballpoint pen) to obtain administrative access.

The machine used by Tobac is the Premier Election System’s BallotStation 4.7, a close cousin to the Diebold AccuVote TS, one of the most popular and vulnerable electronic machines used to record vote tallies. Though Diebold changed its name to Premier back in 2007 for “strategic” reasons, it apparently decided to hold on to its extremely vulnerable equipment.

Middle school to be latest to fly Black Lives Matter flag

Vermont middle school is going to join a number of schools across the state by flying a Black Lives Matter flag.

The Burlington School District reports that the city school board voted unanimously Tuesday to allow the flag to be flown at the Edmunds Middle School.

The Burlington board’s action came after it received a proposal to fly the flag from the school’s Youth Participatory Action Research Collective.

Students of color make up 28% of the Edmunds Middle School community.

San Francisco’s New DA: Public Urination ‘Will Not Be Prosecuted’

San Francisco’s pee problem could soon get worse.

Chesa Boudin, the urine-and-feces-plagued city’s incoming district attorney, pledged during the campaign not to prosecute public urination and other quality-of-life crimes if he was elected. Boudin declared victory Saturday night after results showed him winning a plurality of votes in the DA race.

“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes. Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted,” Boudin vowed in response to an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questionnaire during the campaign.

Bernie Sanders claimed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would “play a very, very important role” in his administration if he becomes president.

During an interview with ABC News, Sanders, 78, explained that he believes Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most accomplished freshman members in Congress.

“I don’t know of any person — I’ve been in Congress for a few years — who in the course of less than one year, she’s been in office for less than one year, who’s had more of an impact in American politics as a freshman member of Congress than she has,” said Sanders.

What’s Driving Unusually High Voter Turnout

American voters are motivated by a fever pitch.

That’s the message from last week’s elections.

The headlines were the Democratic sweep of the state legislature in Virginia that put the entire state government under Democrat control for the first time in 25 years and the defeat of incumbent Republican Gov. Matt Bevin in Kentucky.

An important part of the story is that voter turnout was off the charts.

In Kentucky, an estimated 43% of eligible voters turned out compared with 31% for the last gubernatorial election, in 2015.

Voter turnout in Virginia was the highest it has been for a state legislature-only election in at least the last 40-some years.

There’s a lot of noise in the political and cultural arenas in America today, and it’s exactly what I talk about in my new book, released this week, “Necessary Noise: How Donald Trump Inflames the Cultural War and Why This is Good News for America.”

A new Gallup poll measuring voter enthusiasm reports that 64% are “more enthusiastic” compared with previous elections, a percentage “among the highest Gallup has measured across presidential election years.”

It’s actually the highest ever measured because previous levels in this range were reported one to five months before upcoming election. Voter enthusiasm at this accelerated level one year before an election is unprecedented.

'I want to have my own car': American-born ISIS bride begs to return to US

A woman born in New Jersey, who fled the United States to join the Islamic State five years ago, said she "regrets every single thing" and has fought to return home despite the loss of her citizenship.

Hoda Muthana, 25, left her family home in Alabama in 2014 after making contact with ISIS fighters through social media. Muthana had gained a large following on Twitter and expressed anti-Western ideology consistent with that of ISIS, or Daesh, including encouraging jihadis to "go on drivebys, and spill all of their blood."

Muthana was born to a Yemeni diplomat in 1994 and was issued an American passport despite some confusion about when her father's diplomatic post officially came to end. The U.S. government argues that Muthana's status as a U.S. citizen was issued in error because her father was in the country as a foreign official at the time of her birth. Muthana's lawyers and family claim that she was born after her father's post ended when the family had been issued refugee status due to unrest in Yemen.

Upon arriving in Syria to join ISIS in 2014, Muthana burned her U.S. passport and declared herself a part of the caliphate.

BREAKING: At least 6 hurt in shooting at California high school, suspect at large: Live updates

At least six people were taken to hospitals after a shooting at a high school in Southern California Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The search is now on for the suspect as terrified students evacuate the campus and reunite with their parents.

Deputies have swarmed the scene at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, about 35 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The number of injuries are fluctuating.

While fire officials reported six people hospitalized, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said at least three people, all students, were hurt, including at least one gunshot victim.

‘Baby Trump’ balloon slashed at Alabama-LSU game, Hoyt Hutchinson charged

A protest against the president at Tuscaloosa’s Monnish Park ended abruptly after a man slashed a large “Baby Trump” balloon.

Witnesses said the incident happened shortly before kickoff of the Alabama-LSU game. President Donald Trump attended the game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“Officers observed Hoyt Deau Hutchinson, age 32 of Tuscaloosa, AL, cut into the “Baby Trump” balloon, and then attempted (sic) to flee the area. Officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody on a charge of Criminal Mischief First Degree. Hoyt was transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail where he was held on a $2,500 bond,” a statement from Tuscaloosa police read.

Maya Rockeymoore Cummings resigns as MD Democratic Party Chair

BALTIMORE (WBFF) Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings has resigned as Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party amid rumors that she is running for her late husband's congressional seat.

According to a spokesperson, Dr. Cummings resigned at the party's meeting on Monday. Cory McCray, Baltimore City State Senator and former Vice Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, is now Interim Chair of the Party.

The 7th Congressional seat became available after Congressman Cummings passed away on October 17 following longstanding health challenges.

Regarding the Maryland Democratic Party, a statewide meeting of the Democratic State Central Committee will be scheduled within the next two months to elect a permanent Chair.

Students Walk Out to Protest Chick-fil-A at Football Games

A group of Oregon high school students organized by the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance club walked out of school last week in protest of the presence of a Chick-fil-A food truck at the school’s football games.

The students at West Linn High School walked out to protest the school’s use of Chick-fil-A as a food vendor at football games, reported KATU2, apparently because they view the presence of the popular fast-food chain to be part of an unsafe environment for LGBTQ students. They said some students have experienced harassment in classrooms and on sports teams.

The Gay-Straight Alliance reportedly said Chick-fil-A supports anti-LGBTQ organizations and charities.

As the group of students organized by the Gay-Straight Alliance walked out of school, another group also left the school wearing “Make America Great Again” hats and waving Chick-fil-A bags.

KATU2 reported officials at the high school said the Chick-fil-A food truck will remain at the football games throughout the season, but they will reconsider their vetting process for contracts with vendors in the future.

Popeyes worker who 'body-slammed' a customer, 55, leaving her with a broken leg and six broken ribs is arrested

A Popeyes employee has been arrested after being caught on video body-slamming a customer outside a Tennessee store.

Deriance Ra'Shaiel Hughes, 29, has been charged with felony aggravated assault after allegedly attacking Debra Staggs in a dispute over her check.

Rocky McElhaney Law Firm which is representing Staggs, 55, said she was trying to get a refund after being charged twice for her $13.11 meal.

Video of the attack quickly went viral with the footage showing people chasing Staggs outside the restaurant. She is then body slammed to the ground by a man who is now believed to be Hughes.
