Chesapeake Waste has been raising residential trash pick up prices by as much as 35 % and appear to be losing customers right and left according to many Facebook posts. They have no website, no online presence with their policies and poor customer service when you call. They will not allow me to speak to a supervisor or owner. They have no agreements or policies I can find, and my paper bill indicated just an annual renewal amount for contract renewal on June 1 - no cancel policies, no notice of authorized credit card payment, no other details about service or changes in policies were noted on the bill.

On May 15, a full 2 weeks before the end of my current annual contract, they charged my credit card $ 392 without any authorization to do so. (I assume they have my credit card on file from a previous year when I listed it on the bill or called in to pay with it.) They received my notice of cancellation on the same day they charged my account but will not honor the cancellation with a refund OF ANY PORTION even though my current contract had not expired, and they charged me for a full year from June 1, 2019 - May 30, 2020.

Can anyone share their dealings or familiarity with Chesapeake Waste Industries on Brick Kiln Road in SBY? Any insight, experiences or ownership info anyone can share? I think Chesapeake Waste Industries was started after buying it from Waste Management in recent years. Can anyone provide background? I have no complaint with the service, just the large increase in price. Otherwise I would have remained a customer.

I am not looking to "trash" any company (pun intended!), but I'm not feeling good about this local company's desire to use fair business practices. I hope they will reconsider soon. It is currently in credit card dispute, but I would like to resolve it locally. Thanks, Joe, and thanks to your readers!

The Head Of Wicomico First Alert Is Once Again Spreading Lies And Attempting To Purposely Harm Caribbean Joe's

Shelby Vick is one of the band members for the ROCK A HOLICS and was the main person we had originally negotiated their rates for the weekend. He made the below statement about an hour ago on Facebook.

So it was my intention to not return to Facebook, but in the interest of doing what is correct, we the ROCK A HOLICS played two killer shows over the weekend at Caribbean Joes, on rt. 50 west Oc. And while I am not sure who or how it got started we did indeed get our agreed compensation, and are looking forward to a continued relationship with west Oc's only pool bar (pool officially opening today).

Baltimore mayor proposes public boxing rings to reduce violence

BALTIMORE —In a violent weekend for Baltimore City, police responded to a deadly stabbing and eight shootings. Police said 11 people were injured and two men were killed, including a 17-year-old.

City leaders are now saying it's time to try different tactics to reduce violence.

Mayor Jack Young said he's considering having people solve their issues in a boxing match.

"Gun violence has been plaguing this city for the last 10 years. The murder rate in this city and non-fatal shootings have increased. I'm not happy with it and neither should the citizens of Baltimore," Young said.

Young, along with City States Attorney Marilyn Mosby, attended a National Gun Violence Awareness Day event, connecting youth with resources, such as jobs, in an attempt to encourage them not to pick up a gun.

A Viewer Writes.......The money pit folked festival and Baltimore

The bigger take away is that he had to go begging for money in Baltimore for the folk festival the city could not afford? I give him credit for going out and finding money but this just shows you that the city can not financially support this event on its own.

Local businesses could not or would not step up to the plate and donate so he is pandering in Baltimore?
A fundraiser in Baltimore for a festival here? How does that make any sense?

Just how are they going to "fundraise" from a baseball game?
Walk around with buckets like they did at the festival?

He invites us to join in him Baltimore to fundraise?

How much is this costing the city taxpayers?
Why wasn't this party held at the shorebird stadium?
Now you know why County Council wants to play ball and give Jake money.

SALISBURY, Md.- The National Folk Festival on Friday announced the Baltimore Orioles as a 2019 stage sponsor for the 79th National Folk Festival, which returns to downtown Salisbury, Sept. 6-8.
“The City of Salisbury is overwhelmed with excitement to welcome the Baltimore Orioles as a major sponsor of the National Folk Festival,” said Salisbury Mayor Jake Day. “We invite our community to join us in celebrating during an event at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this June.”

Biden says he would spend $5 TRILLION to fight global warming

Former Vice President Joe Biden unveiled a $5 trillion climate change proposal that would roll back Trump tax cuts to help fund investments – amid pressure from rivals to match Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's 'Green New Deal.'

Biden's plan would call for net zero emissions by 2050 and what Biden calls a '100 per cent clean energy economy.'

The Green New Deal sets the goal of an electric grid powered by 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030.

Biden in a release called it a 'bold plan' and a ''Clean Energy Revolution'' to address 'this grave threat and lead the world in addressing the climate emergency.' He has already faced critics who pounced on an advisor who said he was seeking to find 'middle ground' on the issue.

Whoopi Goldberg criticizes Trump for attending D-Day ceremony: 'They didn’t have bone spurs'

"The View" host Whoopi Goldberg was partially bleeped out during her criticism of President Trump attending the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

The panel commended Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for not criticizing Trump on foreign soil during an interview with MSNBC in France. They noted Trump had jabbed at 2020 candidate Joe Biden while he was in Japan.

"He’s out of control. He called Bette Midler, while at a state visit in England, he called her a washed-up psycho and a sick scammer," Ana Navarro said.

Sheriff: Jewelry store stops deputy from picking up engagement ring because he was armed

STATESVILLE, N.C. —A sheriff's office in North Carolina took to social media Wednesday afternoon after staff members at a jewelry store allegedly stopped an on-duty deputy from entering the store to pick up his engagement ring because he was armed.

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office said they were "deeply saddened" by the situation that unfolded at Kay Jewelers in Statesville, North Carolina, about 40 miles north of Charlotte.

"The deputy took his meal break to pick up the ring and was met at the door by the store manager, who informed him he was not allowed to wear his service weapon while on their premises," according to the Facebook post.

The deputy told the manager it would be a policy violation for him to remove his service weapon while in uniform.

'I want to see Trump in PRISON': Nancy Pelosi tells top Democrats

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reportedly told top Democrats that she wants to see President Donald Trump 'in prison'.

Pelosi's remarks came in a meeting on Tuesday with top House Democrats, including Judiciary Committee chair Jerrold Nadler, who is aggressively pushing for impeachment, Politico reported.

'I don't want to see him impeached, I want to see him in prison,' Pelosi said in the closed-door meeting, multiple Democratic sources familiar with the meeting told the outlet.

Pelosi, who fears political disaster if impeachment proceedings are launched without broad public support, argued that it would be better to see Trump defeated in the next election and then criminally prosecuted as a private citizen.

Lack of political will to make its core neighborhoods a competitive choice for families, an ineffective code and compliance department, and a mayor who just doesn’t get the big picture. Downtown will never flourish, crime rates won’t drop, etc. until somebody wakes up. Where is Salisbury Neighborhood Housing these days?
So sad and aggravating!

Real ID Update

Senator Addie Eckardt, District 37
Real ID Update
June 4, 2019
REAL ID was passed by Congress to create standards for secure driver’s licenses and identification cards nationwide in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. As of October 1, 2020, all Marylanders must have documents on file and be REAL ID compliant if they wish to use a state-issued driver’s license or identification card to board an airplane or enter federal government facilities.

Maryland began issuing REAL ID licenses and identification cards in 2009; at that time, Maryland was only required to collect documentation from new drivers, allowing those renewing or obtaining a duplicate or corrected driver’s license or identification card to obtain a REAL ID without additional documentation. However, in October 2017, federal mandates required those with the newly-designed driver’s license or identification card to still bring in additional documents to become REAL ID complaint. The documents can include: a birth certificate or passport, proof of social security and two documents proving a Maryland home address.

MDOT MVA has been working diligently to directly contact drivers that have a new REAL ID license or identification card but still need to file the additional required documents, requesting these documents be submitted within six months. The timing of the notifications allows customers six months to submit documents and allows MVA to provide customers with the best possible service. These customers MUST come to a MDOT MVA branch with the required documents as soon as possible and are urged to make an appointment.

In order to accommodate the shift to REAL ID, the MVA has added more than 1,900 weekly appointment slots across the state, and now has more than 3,000 appointments available every day.

All Marylanders are encouraged to:

Robert E. Lee statue removed from Dallas park sells for $1.4M after bidding war

A statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee was sold online for more than $1.4 million on Wednesday after it was removed from a Dallas park nearly two years ago over concerns the monument was racist.

The bronze statue drew a top offer of $1,435,000 from a bidder identified only as "LawDude," according to the Lone Star Auctioneers Inc. website. The second highest bidder, "MustangJerry," maxed out at $1,432,500 after placing 41 bids since the statue first went up for auction with a starting price of $450,000 on May 26.

The Dallas City Council last month voted 12-3 to declare the 1935 sculpture by Alexander Phimister Proctor as "surplus property" and sold to the highest bidder. The artwork features Lee and a young Confederate soldier on horseback.

ELIJAH CUMMINGS’S WIFE USED HER CHARITY TO PAY HER FOR-PROFIT COMPANY, DOCUMENTS SHOW

House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings’s wife has funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars from her charity to her private for-profit organization, according to a previously undisclosed cost-sharing arrangement that multiple experts said raises red flags.

Maya Rockeymoore Cummings’s charity, the Center for Global Policy Solutions (CGPS), paid her for-profit venture, Global Policy Solutions LLC, over $250,000 in “management fees” between 2013 and 2015, according to the charity’s audited financial statements covering those years. The management fees were paid in addition to a cost-sharing agreement where the charity pays for its share of equipment, personnel and other expenditures.

Rockeymoore Cummings’s charity is funded by companies with interests before her husband’s congressional committee, according to the Washington Examiner.

HUGE! Investigation Into Ilhan Omar Reveals Alleged Fraudulent Tax Returns Linked to Marriage to Her Brother

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was ordered to pay a $500 civil fine for violating campaign finance law.

Omar had to pay an additional $3,469 fine for improperly used campaign funds.

But the investigation into Ilhan Omar and the findings released by the Minnesota Campaign Finance & Public Disclosure Board reveal something even more serious.

It appears Ilhan Omar may filed fraudulent federal and state tax returns.

Michelle Malkin immediately jumped into the fray and called Ilhan Omar out on her fraudulent marriage to her brother and how she filed joint tax returns with a man who she was not married to.

“Things that make you go hmmm: Read this closely and keep in mind that Ilhan Omar was legally married to Ahmed Elmi from 2009-2017 while also filing joint tax returns with Ahmed Hirsi in 2014 and 2015. Time to get federal IRS officials involved,” Malkin said.

Virginia Tech Offers 10 Different Graduation Ceremonies for Black, LGBT, Asian Students

Virginia Tech offered ten separate graduation ceremonies this year for different student groups based on identity.

Virginia Tech hosted ten separate graduation ceremonies for students based on their identity. In May, the university held separate ceremonies for Black, Asian, Latino, Muslim, and LGBTQ students. Breitbart News reported in May that many American colleges offer separate graduation ceremonies for Black students.

The College Fix reported this week that Virginia Tech is one of many universities that have adopted separate ceremonies for student groups based on identity. For example, The Donning of Kente Ceremony is held to commemorate the graduation of Black and African American students.

Virginia Tech will also hold a “Lavender Ceremony” for student members of the LGBTQ community.

MDP Chair Statement on Virginia Beach Shooting

Maryland Democratic Party Chair Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings: "My heart breaks for the victims of this brutal attack. Unfortunately, the senseless slaughter of men, women, and children has become common place in our society. We have to do more to keep guns out of the hands of mentally unstable people. And we have to connect everyone— young and old— to the mental health services they need before they become violent.

I applaud the work of our Democratic legislators who fought to eliminate the gun permit review board, which regularly overturns the permit denials of unfit gun owners. Overturning the governor's veto of this bill in the 2020 legislative session is an important step Democrats can take to help prevent tragedies like the Virginia Beach shooting from happening in our communities."
