Is this the $1 Million Dollar Salisbury Fireboat up in dry dock? If it's up in the air it can't be ready for service? How long has it been out of commission? Wasn't it out of commission in Crisfield several months ago?
That's not a dry dock, it's a boat lift. You push a button and the boat is lowered into the water. It saves corrosion on this particular boat because she has a terrible electrolysis problem when in the water. And yes, she has bee out of commission in Sea Mark boatyard in Crisfield for at least two periods of six months each within the past three years.
The Salisbury Fire Dept. has never been able to take care of a fire boat. As a kid I remember a fire boat they kept in the north prong in the area of the auto parts store there and remember at least 3 times it sank because they could not maintain the bilge pump. My dad took me there each time to watch a pumper try to refloat it. I wonder if it is still in dry dock because they don't have the money to pay for the costly repairs!
Correction! This Million Dollar Fireboat was used One time by old mayor Ireton/Liarton for the free ride and drinks party down the Wicomico River. You know, the same river he told us he was going to make clean so in 3 years everyone can Swim in It. Well, that was a Lie. But the Party on the Boat was priceless. Liarton, Fake Jake Day and bunch of their buddies had a party while waving their Rainbow Flag, and on Taxpayers Dime, of course.

Is that because the river is so polluted it destroys anything it comes in contact with? Aren't boats supposed to be in contact with water on a regular/permanent basis?
A GOOD SOURCE FROM SFD ADVISED ME THAT THE SFD AND DELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT HAVE SIGNED A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT AND THAT THE FIRBOAT WILL BE RELOCATED TO LEONARDS MILL POND OFF OF RT. 13 WHERE BOTH DEPARTMENT BELIEVE THAT THE BOAT WILL SEE MORE SERVICE. ALSO IN THE WORKS IS A DAUPHIN HELICOPTER FOR THE SFD. THE COPTER WILL PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED SUPPORT IN THE TRANSFER OF TRAUMA PATIENTS TO PRMC, A LEVEL 3 TRAUMA CENTER, WHO WILL THEN BE TRANSPORTED TO SHOCK TRAUMA IN BALTIMORE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF TRAUMA PATIENTS TRANSPORTED TO PRMC ARE SHIPPED OUT BECAUSE THE LEVEL 3 TRAUMA CENTER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ADVANCED MEDICAL CARE TO SERIOUSLY INJURED PATIENTS
It doesn't matter what they do with it, does it? If it was in the water ya'll would be crying that they are wasting fuel and tax dollars, and who is paying for using it and why.
If it was just sitting, someone would be crying about why did we build it if it's just going to sit, and you shouldn't leave it in the water and it needs to be dry docked.
You really don't care what they do, you just want to complain about it. It's built. Get over it. Or better.. DO something about it. Quit armchair quarterbacking and get involved.
No matter what way you look at it and it's history up to now it was a waste of $ we did not need that size boat and the huge expense. They can pick up dead bodies in the nasty waters we have with a little row boat, ditch bank boat whatever you want to call them. We should sell it to an area in Maryland where it is a necessity, total waste of $ here--recoup some of the $ spent, and put it towards new roads, fixing up or tearing down foreclosed homes, in general a major clean up the city needs. Take a ride down Washington St Salisbury at abandoned houses, repairs started and never finished either fine the owners or fix and sell them, put the $ back into the city. This blight is everywhere not just one street. Develop a new board of non realtors, non slum lords, non council members. Just real people who care.
The lift was forcefully paid for by the volunteers, or county tax money. There was no choice in the matter. Hoppes said you will or your charter will be gone. Just like the new command vehicle because the old one wasn't good enough to ride up and down the road every day, by mysteriously does with the RN and Paramedic team does. All the equipment on both was paid for 100 percent by the volunteers. From County Money. Ask fresh new paid man Tri. He was behind it. Just like the like the purchase of the Carolina Skiff at 16 as well. SFD has 2 boat .
Nothing wrong with giving our service personnel cool toys. I mean the police are rocking all types of cool cars from their drug proceeds why are we complaining about the firemen having a cool boat?
I love the waterfront section 8 housing off to the left!!
ReplyDeleteIt has bee in Dry Dock for at least 2+ years, It has only been used for training and I believe one rescue where it wasn't needed...
ReplyDeleteUmm.... It’s on a boat lift. It can put the boat in the water in seconds.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it’s on a lift to prevent wear.

ReplyDeleteWhere did the boat lift come from and who paid for that? This "free" boat is costing us a fortune and it never used!

ReplyDeleteJune 4, 2019 at 10:23 AM PRMC isnt even able to provide primary care none the less advanced care.
ReplyDeleteThe boat lift was paid for several years ago by a grant from the state.
ReplyDeleteLaughable.

ReplyDeleteI just love it when they say it was free because it was grant money. It's taxpayers money either way.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the good ole boys club here used it to go to Crisfield to go fishing.
ReplyDeleteSby . seems to operate everything from the
