Maryland Drought Information and Current Status

A drought watch was declared for the Central Region at the end of November 2016. As of the end of February 2017, conditions in the Central region have worsened to drought warning and the Eastern Region has moved from normal conditions to drought watch.

While the conditions in the Central Region are in drought warning, they are better than they were in February during our last significant water supply drought of 2002. Furthermore, many water suppliers in Central Maryland have made improvements in system capacity since 2002 that have improved their resiliency to ensure adequate supplies under drought conditions.

The warning status in the Central Region and the watch status in the Eastern Region trigger a number of actions including water conservation, public notification, and in some instances reduction in water use; however, MDE has the discretion to postpone the requirement when the watch or warning status is in non-growing/winter season.

More information about what a drought watch and a drought warning entail can be found here.

Obama Last Minute Changes May Be Behind Leaks

Former President Barack Obama made a last-minute change to the way wiretapped intelligence is shared Jan. 12, which may have contributed to the proliferation of leaks plaguing the Trump administration.

Obama changed the way National Security Agency intelligence is shared 8 days before leaving office, which allows globally intercepted communications to be disseminated across the entire intelligence community.

The change was part of a post-9/11 push by the executive branch to increase intelligence sharing, to ensure that NSA analysts do not miss critically important information. The change is “simply widening the aperture for a larger number of analysts, who will be bound by the existing rules,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said at the time.

Suggestion Pope Benedict XVI Resigned Under Obama ‘Pressure’

An Italian archbishop close to Pope Benedict XVI has claimed that the Obama administration may have been complicit in the “tremendous pressures” that led the former pope to resign in 2013.

It is “no coincidence” that some Catholic groups “have asked President Trump to open a commission of inquiry to investigate whether the administration of Barack Obama exerted pressure on Benedict,” said Archbishop Luigi Negri in an interview Monday, citing other revelations by Wikileaks regarding efforts by the Democratic Party to sway the direction of the Catholic Church in the United States.

31 Senators Call for More Foreign Workers to Replace Blue-Collar Americans

Thirty-one Democratic and Republican Senators are asking the Department of Homeland Security to maximize the use of blue-collar outsourcing visas so U.S. companies can import more foreign workers instead of recruiting, training and paying unskilled U.S. workers.

The bipartisan request comes three months after the shocking November vote pressured GOP leaders to slash the H-2B visa program from a one-year high of 264,000 visas back down to the long-standing level of 66,000 visas.

The request to Department of Homeland Security John Kelly also comes as a claimed shortage of H-2B is prompted recruiters to find, hire, train and retain some of the millions of young underemployed men and women who could fill the many low-status seasonal jobs in landscaping, golf course maintenance, cleanup in restaurants, seafood processing, and hotel cleaning which are often allocated to H-2B contract-workers.

Recruitment consultants are helping employers hire alternative workers from American trade schools and from Puerto Rico. They are also warning employers to raise salaries and benefits for U.S. workers or else lose the workers to better-paying companies.

Border crossings decrease: Is Trump's tough talk working?

Illegal Southwest border crossings were down 40% last month, according to just released Customs and Border Protection numbers -- a sign that President Donald Trump's hardline rhetoric and policies on immigration may be having a deterrent effect.

Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly himself announced the month-to-month numbers, statistics that CBP usually quietly posts on its website without fanfare.

According to CBP data, the 40% drop in illegal Southwest border crossings from January to February is far outside normal seasonal trends. Typically, the January to February change is actually an increase of 10% to 20%.

The drop breaks a nearly 20-year trend, as CBP data going back to 2000 shows an uptick in apprehensions every February.

The number of apprehensions and inadmissible individuals presenting at the border was 18,762 people in February, down from 31,578 in January.

Soros fuels Democrats’ push to lower voting age to 17

Stung by recent election defeats, Democrats are leading the charge to lower the voting age to 17, with a little help from liberal billionaire George Soros.

In California, Democratic legislators introduced this week a landmark bill, ACA 10, that would give the Golden State the nation’s youngest statewide voting age by lowering the threshold from 18 to 17 in the name of reversing the slide in voter turnout.

“Young people are our future,” said Democratic Assembly member Evan Low, the measure’s sponsor. “Lowering the voting age will help give them a voice in the democratic process and instill a lifelong habit of voting.”

The proposal comes as the most ambitious of a host of efforts to chip away at the 18-year-old voting age as Democrats seek to bring into the fold younger voters, who traditionally support more liberal causes and candidates than do their elders.

“It is a transparent ploy to pad the Democratic vote,” said John J. Pitney Jr., American politics professor at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, referring to the California bill.

Benefits Planned To Help Family After Shocking Diagnosis

BERLIN – The friends and family of a local middle school student who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor are pulling businesses and community members together for two benefit fundraisers.

Family friends Brenda Kelly and Scott Bowden and family member Amanda Boston-Davis, with the help of Stephanie Hastings Valdivia and Kim Widgeon, are leading two fundraisers to benefit Kylie Boston, an eighth-grade student at Stephen Decatur Middle School who was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma nearly two months ago.

Doctors discovered the tumor after a routine eye exam the day before Boston’s birthday, according to Kelly. Two days later, she underwent an operation at Johns Hopkins Hospital to remove the mass, located on her brain and the brain stem.

“For something to happen to a kid like this is shocking,” Kelly said, adding that Boston was active in Pop Warner cheerleading, Berlin Little League Softball and more.

Pocomoke Seeks Armory Funding

SNOW HILL – Officials from Pocomoke City are seeking the county’s support in an effort to rehabilitate the town’s vacant armory.

When Pocomoke Mayor Bruce Morrison approached the Worcester County Commissioners this week with the town’s annual budget request, he used the opportunity to ask for their help in restoring the asbestos and lead plagued armory. Morrison says it could be revamped and put to use as a youth center.

“We have a problem with the youth in Pocomoke,” Morrison said. “We’ve got to get them off the street.”

Morrison explained that while there was a YMCA in Pocomoke, it was on the opposite side of the highway from most of the town’s residents. It also isn’t an affordable option for many families.

“It’s very expensive,” Morrison said.

OHIO: Liberal activist jailed after voter fraud guilty plea

A PAID liberal activist from the battleground state of Ohio was sentenced to six months in jail after she pleaded guilty to 14 counts of voter fraud on Monday.

Rebecca A. Hammonds was originally charged with 35 counts of “falsely registering people to vote and forging signatures on voter registration forms,” and admitted to 14 counts, Salem News reports.

Hammonds was a paid canvasser for the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, a group pushing people to register to vote in Columbiana County.

“It was fraud. It was dozens of forms where people that were deceased or just forged flat out. They signed their name and it wasn’t even the voter, the wrong date of birth, wrong streets,” said Columbiana County Elections Director Adam Booth in mid-2016 when Hammonds originally plead not guilty, according to WFMJ.

Bill for Buckling Up in the Back Seat Can Save Lives

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Seat belts save lives but some people think they can do without them. A bill in Annapolis aims to fix that.

Rear passengers can be ticketed for not wearing seat belts, but only if the driver is pulled over for some other reason. The bill makes it a primary offense, meaning if a driver could be pulled over because his passenger isn’t buckled.

Think you’re safer riding in the backseat? Montgomery County Police Captain Thomas Didone’s son was sitting between two friends.

“My 15-year-old son died in a rear seat belt collision when he wasn’t wearing his seat belt in the backseat,” Didone said.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked the remaining 46 U.S. attorneys to resign, the Justice Department announced Friday, describing the move as part of an effort to ensure a "uniform transition."

The department said some U.S. attorneys, as in prior transitions, already had left the department. Now, "the Attorney General has now asked the remaining 46 presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys to tender their resignations," a spokeswoman said.

“Until the new U.S. Attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. Attorney’s Offices will continue the great work of the Department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders,” the statement added.

Fix Is In: House Committee on ‘Russian Hacking’ Includes Only DNC-Hired Tech Experts

A list of witnesses scheduled to appear at a House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Open Hearing on “Russian Active Measures” contains a glaring problem: the only technical experts scheduled to testify are from CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike is a firm hired by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and has become the primary source of the narrative about “Russian hacking” of the 2016 election and has acted as a mouthpiece for the Democrats since last June.

The initial witness list released by House Intelligence includes a number of intelligence officials, all appointed during the Obama administration, such as former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, but the sole technical people on the invitation list are two representatives of CrowdStrike, President Shawn Henry, and the co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch.

Breitbart News has interviewed tech experts who do not agree with the CrowdStrike assessment or Obama administration’s claims that the DNC/DCCC hacks clearly committed by Russian state actors, with much criticism aimed at the FBI/DHS Joint Analysis Report (JAR) “Grizzly Steppe” that was released at the end of December.

Authorities say the union realized the theft in December of 2015 when they checked the bank account balance and discovered only $277 left.

Burger-flipping robot replaces humans on first day at work

A burger-flipping robot has just completed its first day on the job at a restaurant in California, replacing humans at the grill.

Flippy has mastered the art of cooking the perfect burger and has just started work at CaliBurger, a fast-food chain.

The robotic kitchen assistant, which its makers say can be installed in just five minutes, is the brainchild of Miso Robotics.

“Much like self-driving vehicles, our system continuously learns from its experiences to improve over time,” said David Zito, chief executive officer of Miso Robotics.

“Though we are starting with the relatively 'simple' task of cooking burgers, our proprietary AI software allows our kitchen assistants to be adaptable and therefore can be trained to help with almost any dull, dirty or dangerous task in a commercial kitchen — whether it's frying chicken, cutting vegetables or final plating.”

Cameras and sensors help Flippy to determine when the burger is fully cooked, before the robot places them on a bun. A human worker then takes over and adds condiments.

MD Natural Resources Police fights to keep its eyes in the sky

Last Thanksgiving, the Maryland Natural Resources Police got something for which they could truly be thankful: A helicopter.

After seven years with no eyes in the sky, the NRP got its 1972 Bell Jet Ranger back. The police aviation unit, founded nearly 70 years ago, had been eliminated by the previous administration in a cost-cutting move in 2009, and the helicopter was transferred to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

But restoring the NRP’s aerial mobility was a priority of Mark Belton, the current natural resources secretary. So he reacquired the copter and had it refurbished for $158,000, according to NRP spokeswoman Candy Thomson. Named Natural 1, it was pressed into service almost immediately, helping the NRP catch oyster and deer poachers and assisting with search-and-rescue missions.

Now, though, after just four months, the NRP, an arm of DNR, is in jeopardy of losing its helicopter again.

Ed Klein: What Is Huma Up To - And Why Should We Care?

The gossip sphere was atwitter recently when Huma Abedin, the estranged wife of scandal-scarred Anthony Weiner and Hillary Clinton's longtime confidante, met for lunch with Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

The two women were spotted enjoying a private tete-a-tete at Il Cantinori, a favorite celebrity hangout in Greenwich Village. They're good friends — Wintour held fundraisers for Hillary's 2016 presidential campaign and she profiled Abedin in the pages of Vogue.

Beyond their mutual admiration for Hillary, Abedin and Wintour share a passion for fashion, and sources tell me that among the things they discussed over lunch was Wintour's offer to help Abedin find a job in the fashion business.

Now that Abedin is a single mother and her soon-to-be-ex-husband is in sex-addiction rehab and out of work, she needs a steady, well-paying job.

In recent days, NPR and other news outlets have reported Comey pressed the Justice Department without success to issue a public denial of President Trump's tweet that the FBI and President Barack Obama wiretapped his phones at Trump Tower.

'A Day Without A Woman' Brings Women Back To D.C. Streets

Chanting “Donald Trump has got to go,” hundreds of protesters marched past the White House on Wednesday, making for a raucous International Women’s Day.

Supported by dozens of organizations, including the Feminist Majority Foundation, the demonstration took aim at the president’s global gag rule that restricts foreign aid to overseas organizations that support abortion. But attendees said they showed up to express concerns about a range of issues, from healthcare to sexual assault in the military.

Holding a sign that said “Stop the War on Women,” Bethesda resident Gabriella Belli said she doesn’t have just one concern about the Trump administration — she has many.

“I think what is going on in the country right now is absolutely abhorrent,” Belli said. “We are setting all our people, but women in particular, back 100 years.”

Wicomico Council Addresses Growth Map Concerns

SALISBURY – Wicomico County officials have devised a plan that will address tier map designation issues that were brought to the county’s attention in recent weeks.

In an open work session of the Wicomico County Council this week, Sharptown Mayor and Commission President Doug Gosnell met with councilmembers and Keith Hall of the Department of Planning, Zoning and Community Development to address and fix opposing tier map distinctions before the county’s comprehensive plan is adopted.

According to Gosnell, Sharptown officials submitted changes to the jurisdiction’s water and sewer plan in 2013, which reflected their future plans to serve water and sewer to a section of land adjacent to town. This tier II growth designation would make the land, as he described, “untouchable” to those who wanted to build on separate septic systems.

But as a result of administrative changes during that time, Hall said the plans didn’t get finalized. Instead of the area being labeled tier II by the jurisdiction, the county had it labeled as a tier III growth area in the preliminary growth maps, meaning that growth on separate septic systems are allowed.

OOPS! Leaders Of ‘Day Without Women’ Protest Just Made STUPID Mistake – How Humiliating!

So do you remember back when Hillary pretended was the total package and champion for women yet was caught paying her female staffers less than men as a Senator…?

Then again when it was found out that in her very own foundation, the Clinton foundation, the same thing was happening. She has no shame. The thing is …liberals do these things all the time, and just figure we don’t notice. Simply because we don’t go crazy and savage on everyone like they would in the same situation.

We are just far too classy.

Well not there is a similar situation going down and this time the controversy is unfolding around tomorrow’s “Day Without A Woman” protest. Yes, it’s happening…and yes, it’s going to be just as stupid as the last time they tried to claim they were women. They are female, but to be a real woman…they do not possess such ability.

Just saying…

Anyhow…

Apparently, there are women who will be skipping out on work tomorrow because Donald Trump hurt their feelings or something like that.

Just Another Wonderful Illegal Alien Decapitating His Mother

Will Democrats, who seem to love illegal aliens, look to hold up this guy as a paragon, like they’ve done with so many others?

(WTVD) The Franklin County District Attorney said Tuesday that 18-year-old Oliver Mauricio Funes Machada will be moved to Central Prison because it’s “more appropriate for any special needs he may have.”

Machada is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge after deputies say he decapitated his mother at their home on Morgan Drive near Stonehill Drive just south of U.S. Highway 64 Monday afternoon. The area is east of Zebulon – near the Wake County line.

At a a preliminary hearing Tuesday, both the prosecution and defense said they expect mental health to be an issue in the case. According to court documents, Machada took four different medications for psychosis and schizophrenia.

Federal officials also said Tuesday that Machada is in the country illegally and they’ve issued an immigration detainer for him.

“ICE is focused on identifying, arresting and removing public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens and gang members, as well as individuals who have violated our nation’s immigration laws,” a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson told ABC11.

Wikileaks Drops Massive Trove Of CIA Spying Documents: Guess What’s Missing

So, this happened yesterday

(UK Guardian) The US intelligence agencies are facing fresh embarrassment after WikiLeaks published what it described as the biggest ever leak of confidential documents from the CIA detailing the tools it uses to break into phones, communication apps and other electronic devices.

The thousands of leaked documents focus mainly on techniques for hacking and reveal how the CIA cooperated with British intelligence to engineer a way to compromise smart televisions and turn them into improvised surveillance devices.

The leak, named “Vault 7” by WikiLeaks, will once again raise questions about the inability of US spy agencies to protect secret documents in the digital age. It follows disclosures about Afghanistan and Iraq by army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning in 2010 and about the National Security Agency and Britain’s GCHQ by Edward Snowden in 2013.

This involved 8,761 documents that show just how the CIA was spying. Going after smartphones, computers, and even using the apps in your Samsung TV to spy. Of course, if the CIA is doing this against foreign nations, well, that’s rather their job, is it not? If the documents are real, it represents a pretty big embarrassment to the CIA, and, don’t forget, this happened to the NSA already.

Of course, article after article are rather hysterical over the CIA doing what the CIA is supposed to do. One big question is whether the CIA did this on domestic soil. Regardless, if this happened during George W. Bush’s term, how would the media react? Lots of blame and condemnation, yes?

Pruitt, who sued the EPA 14 times when he was Oklahoma attorney general, said the record is still unsettled.

Love Trumps Hate: ‘Ugly on the Inside’

Anti-bullying author and prominent LGBT activist Dan Savage declared during his podcast Tuesday that first lady Melania Trump “is as ugly on the inside as she is pretty on the outside” for quietly supporting her husband’s policies.

“I f—ing hate Melania Trump,” Mr. Savage, co-founder of the It Gets Better project, said at the top of his “Savage Lovecast” podcast, The Wrap first reported.

“I’m not alone in loathing Donald Trump’s third wife — she’s married to a misogynist after all.

Mr. Savage said the left’s sympathy toward Mrs. Trump is unwarranted and stems from the flawed notion that “the insides of pretty people match the outsides of pretty people.”

“It’s definitely not true in this case,” he said.

POLL: Trump More Popular Than the Media

A new poll has President Trump being significantly more popular than the media. Of course, an old shoe would be more popular than the biased media these days. 37 percent like the media, versus 45 percent who like Trump. 50 percent hate the media and 47 percent hate President Trump. I’m not one much for polls… they are far too subjective for my tastes, but I would be hugely surprised if Americans didn’t overwhelmingly hate, despise and distrust the mainstream media these days. They’ve given us little cause to feel otherwise.

Trump has been in a knock down, drag out fight with the media since he started campaigning for the presidency. The only difference with Trump, is he’s willing to fight back. He’s also willing to take off the gloves and fight dirty. The media have never experienced that before. If President Trump has done nothing else, he has proven to this country once and for all that the media is a propaganda arm of leftists and can’t be trusted at all anymore. Freedom of the press or not, they are the Fourth Estate.

Jorge Ramos: "Whites Will Become a Minority...This is Our Country"

Carlson responds: "You are whiter than I am"

During an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos proclaimed that whites will become a minority within 30 years and that “this is our country”.

TUCKER CARLSON: So at an event several weeks ago in February you said this, and I wanted to ask you about it, and I’m quoting you, “I’m a proud Latino immigrant here in the United States. You know exactly what is going on here in the US. There are many people who do not want us to be here and who want to create a wall in order to separate us. But you know what, this is also our country. Let me repeat this, our country, not theirs, it’s our country.” Who’s the us, and who’s the they? Whose country is it?

JORGE RAMOS: This is our country, it is yours, it is mine and it is ours. The interesting this is with the Trump administration and many people who support Donald Trump they think it is their country, that it is a white country and they are absolutely wrong. This is not a white country, this is not their country, it is ours, and that is precisely what I’m saying. Look in 2044, the white population will become a minority, it will be a minority/majority country, that is precisely what I’m saying. Latinos, Asians, African-Americans, whites, it is our country Tucker.

Legislation May Remove Parental Rights in Sex-Assault Cases

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Legislation in the Maryland General Assembly would enable a court to revoke parental rights of an individual who has been found to have committed rape against the other parent and if a court finds that it is in the child’s best interest to remove the parental rights.

The Maryland House of Delegates voted unanimously to send the bill to the Senate Thursday.

“We’re so pleased the bill came out of the House,” Lisae Jordan, executive director for the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault, told the University of Maryland’s Capital News Service. “We look forward to seeing what happens with it in the (Senate) Judicial Proceedings Committee.”

The pair of companion bills has bipartisan support. The House bill has 94 co-sponsors and there are 36 co-sponsors in the Senate. The bills allow a court to decide whether a parent should have their parental rights revoked if they committed an unwanted sexual act against the other parent that resulted in conceiving a child.

Mayor booted from office over support for Obama’s refugees

The people of Rutland, Vermont, have gained a measure of revenge against former President Obama’s forced influx of Syrian refugees, voting out the five-term mayor who helped negotiate the controversial resettlements with a federal contractor.

Rutland is Vermont’s third-largest city but still very small, with a population of 16,500.

The candidacy of Mayor Christopher Louras went down in flames in Tuesday’s election as he was defeated by the refugee program’s most ardent opponent on the board of aldermen. David Allaire won with 52 percent of the vote to 34 percent for Louras.

“That’s not just a win, that’s a drubbing,” said Don Chioffi, an activist who supported the upstart candidate Allaire.

New York to Drop Literacy Test for Teachers

You can try to jump higher, but that’s hard. It’s easier to just lower the bar. The moonbattery-addled state of New York continues to embrace decline:

The state Board of Regents will likely vote early next week on whether to ax the Academic Literacy Skills Test, one of four exams that teacher wannabes have to pass for certification, officials said Monday.

The Regents will also consider changes to one of the other three prerequisite exams for would-be educators, the Teacher Performance Assessment, or edTPA.

Under that proposal, applicants who just barely fail the edTPA could still be certified based on other factors, including teacher recommendations.

Under moonbat rule, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Sources said the moves will likely be approved, leading to outcry from those who believe they are important assessment tools.

Charles Sahm is director of education policy at the Manhattan Institute. He gasps:

“It’s alarming because we’ve now abandoned or watered down the teacher evaluation process, and now we’re lowering the bar for entry certification as well.”

HILLARY CLINTON SCANDAL BLOWS OPEN – She Knew…

The discussion on Donald Trump’s wiretapping accusations came up on Fox and Friends for discussion. Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chief, Robby Mook took the opportunity to drop a BOMB!

He stated that the only kind of wiretaps that he would acknowledge were those that were used to investigate Russia during the campaign, and then stated that “Trump aides were caught taking to Russian agents, and those conversations were captured because the intelligence community apparently regularly have taps on the phone lines of those Russian agents” then went on to also make sure he said that the REAL problem was Trump aides talking to “Russia” so much…
Classic left move… deny, twist truth, disburse the blame elsewhere, and declare the “truth” to be the agenda they are trying to push.

Is that brilliance? Maybe… is it right, absolutely not. It is a method that only fools would fall for, and unfortunately we are in a nation that has been bred to fall for these traps for years now. Well not all of us of course..you know that, but enough.

Mook then added that the Clinton campaign was informed by the intelligence community that wiretaps of Russian agents did in fact take place…. and later contradicted himself commenting that Hillary Clinton didn’t have any knowledge of the alleged wiretapping.

Why was the intelligence community informing one campaign of surveillance captured on its opponent?

The “Fox & Friends” hosts pointed to a tweet from Hillary Clinton on Oct. 31 that linked to a column from Slate that attempted to connect a server in Trump Tower to Russia.

The hosts wondered why Clinton might link to that article and who might have leaked the information to Slate.

Trump UNLEASHES Powerful Message About “International Women’s Day” It Has Heads TURNING!

It’s safe to say that literals did NOT expect Trump to come out and address International Women’s Day, and they certainly didn’t expect him to do it like this.
President Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday to publicly honor the women of the world and the “many roles” they serve which are “vital to the fabric of our society.” Sure, liberals are likely to find some way to complain about this tweet, but it is nice to see our President going out of his way to celebrate women both “in America and around the world.”
“On International Women’s Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world,” he tweeted. A shocking message for those who believe that our President has sexist tendencies.
On International Women's Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world.
But he didn’t just tweet once about the subject, ensuring that even his critics would see his sentiments.
I have tremendous respect for women and the many roles they serve that are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy.
His daughter, Ivanka Trump, joined in with a message of her own, and from a woman’s perspective on the day.
