‘Ghost employee:’ High-paid Pennsylvania governor aide to resign amid allegations

Ron Tomalis will resign from a job he may not have been doing in the first place.

Tomalis is a former Pennsylvania secretary of education who has worked as an aide in the Corbett administration the past 15 months making $115,000 a year.

A July 27 story by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Tomalis sent only five emails during his first year in a special adviser position created for him after he resigned as secretary of education in 2013.

Justice in Missouri: Burn Down the Neighborhood

Arson equates with justice in Ferguson

“This is exactly what is supposed to happen when an injustice is happening in your community,” Smith said as he stood before a smoldering QuikTrip. He went on to say arson and rioting are appropriate responses to slavery.

The destroyed store served as a gathering place Monday night for residents outraged by the alleged murder. Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson told CBS News the police used tear gas and beanbag rounds against the crowd by nightfall.

Smith, who hinted he had something to do with the arson, may believe destroying the private property of people who had nothing to do with the shooting substitutes for justice, but the NAACP disagrees.

“To sneak around under the cover of darkness, to steal, to loot, to burn down your neighborhood – this does not require courage,” National NAACP President Cornell William Brooks said. “Courage is when you strive for justice.”

“Martin Luther King did not live and die so that we may steal and lie in the middle of the night.”

Militarized Cops On Display In Ferguson Riots

Armored vehicles, Kevlar, rifles: 'Sounds like
something right off the streets of Iraq'

The developing violence in Ferguson, Missouri, where throngs have been rioting for several days over the shooting death by a police officer of an 18-year-old high school graduate, has put on display the country’s increasingly militarized local police force, according to the author of “Police State USA: How Orwell’s Nightmare is Becoming Our Reality.”

Cheryl Chumley has been watching developments in Missouri, where Michael Brown was shot over the weekend, and just overnight two more people were shot, including one by police.

“Armored vehicles on patrol, Kevlar-wearing, camouflage dressed officials carting high-powered rifles, tear gas wafting through the air – sounds like something right off the streets of Iraq. But it’s not. It’s actually the scene that’s playing out in Ferguson right now, with SWAT-type police taking to the residential streets for crowd control duties,” she said.

Riots are have erupted with hundreds of protesters gathering at a suburban St. Louis police station on Monday demanding murder charges against an officer who shot to death an unarmed black teenager over the weekend. Looting just went nuts like the ’60s. While this is being painted as a race issue, there is yet another issue that is not being addressed – that is the militarization of the civil police forces around the country.

JUST IN: Reporters Arrested In Ferguson

Reporters from The Washington Post and the Huffington Post were arrested in Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday night while covering the protests that have rocked the St. Louis suburb.

Wesley Lowery, a Washington Post political reporter, and Ryan Reilly, a Huffington Post justice reporter, were arrested in a McDonalds shortly before 8 p.m. ET. Police entered the restaurant and told patrons there to leave, the reporters wrote on Twitter after their release. The police then asked Lowery and Reilly for their identification and, according to the reporters, arrested them because they weren't packing their bags fast enough.

Lowery also said the police officers "assaulted" him. "Officers slammed me into a fountain soda machine because I was confused about which door they were asking me to walk out of," he wrote on Twitter. Lowery also said that he and Reilly were released without paperwork or charges, and that the officers refused to provide the reporters with their names.

Here Is The Average Cost To Rent A 2-Bedroom Apartment In Your City

We have been pounding the table since 2009 that without a sustainable increase in average disposable income, the US housing market - that core driver for "wealth effect" and net worth for the "rest of us", i.e., those non-1%ers whose net worth is not tied up in various rigged, manipulated capital markets - will never recover, and as a result, neither will the US economy.

Four dead-cat bounces, and yet another fading bubble in home prices later, this has again proven accurate, with the percentage of Americans owning houses dropping to levels not seen in 19 years.

Hundreds Of U.S. Military Families Missing Vehicles After Returning From Overseas

FORT BELVOIR, Va. (WJLA) – An ABC 7 Watchdog investigation has uncovered that hundreds of military families, who served overseas and used a federal contractor to ship their cars back stateside, are looking for their vehicles. Now, weeks—and in some cases, months—after they were supposed to be delivered, hundreds of cars are missing, and it’s costing you money.

International Auto Logistics got a $305 million contract from the Department of Defense in May. IAL started shipping cars just three months ago, and ABC 7 News discovered that the company has already racked up 500 complaints with the military agency that oversees these moves, hearing from people who are worried they may never see their cars again.

Melanie Buckley has a new home on base at Fort Belvoir to be excited about, but something’s missing, and it’s not just her furniture.

“This is where my car should be parked,” she said, standing in her empty garage.

David Axelrod smack-tweets Hillary Clinton

David Axelrod, former adviser to President Barack Obama, hit back Tuesday against Hillary Clinton's recent criticism of Obama's foreign policy.
Just to clarify: "Don't do stupid stuff" means stuff like occupying Iraq in the first place, which was a tragically bad decision.

In an interview with “The Atlantic” published over the weekend, Clinton argued the decision not to arm Syrian rebels early on had led to Islamic militants taking over swaths of territory in the region.

The former secretary of state also took a swipe at an oft-repeated phrase Obama uses to sum up his foreign policy choices - “Don’t do stupid stuff.”

"Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle," Clinton said.

Governor Martin O’Malley Orders United States Flag and Maryland State Flag Flown at Half-staff On Thursday

This is to advise you that Governor Martin O’Malley has ordered the United States Flag and Maryland State Flag to be flown at half-staff onThursday, August 14, 2014, from sunrise to sunset. This is in memory of Major General Harold J. Greene, of Albany, NY, who died on August 5, 2014, in Kabul, Afghanistan. Major General Greene served at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 2009 to 2012. This action is taken under the Protocol for the United States and Maryland State Flag. Any questions on the above should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.

Hillary Clinton Owes the American People—and the World—an Apology

Hillary Clinton has some explaining to do. But first, a profound apology is in order. If she wants to fulfill her dream of becoming one of the oldest world leaders in history, Hillary must accept responsiblity for the widespread geopolitical chaos that has erupted since she quit her job at the State Department.

The American people, and every citizen of the world, deserve to know why Clinton chose to deprive them of her stalwart leadership as Secretary of State, just so she could make millions of dollars speaking to financial executives and wear muumuus in the Hamptons with her guide dog.

Why did Clinton, who claims to be predisposed to public service, reject the president’s request for her to stay on as Secretary of State, when quite clearly it was her steady hand, and her ability to make “hard choices,” that was the only thing preventing President Obama from fulfilling his own dream of weakening America’s influence in the world?

As Secretary of State, Clinton served as a much-needed check against some of Obama’s worst instincts—American is just another country, using chemical weapons against your own people is fine as long as you promise not to do it again, maybe we should negotiate with terrorists, tyrants like Vladimir Putin will back down in the face of strongly worded expressions of concern, and so on—with respect to foreign policy. As Clinton rightly summed it up in an interview with the Atlantic‘s Jeffrey Goldberg: “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”

Cardin Announces $5.5 Million Federal Grant for Repairs at Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Airport

SALISBURY, Md. - U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) was on hand at the Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport (SBY) Wednesday to announce a federal grant in the amount of
$5,530,524. The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) funds will be used to rehabilitate one of the airport’s two runways: 5-23. Part of the runway improvements will include increasing the runway’s weight limit allowing heavier planes with more passengers and cargo to move through the airport. Runway 5-23 has not been renovated in 30 years.

“SBY is an economic hub for the entire Eastern Shore. Keeping this airport, and all of our nation’s airports, running smoothly and safely is critically important to job growth,” said Senator Cardin, a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure. “Federal investment in infrastructure of all kinds -- runways, roads, bridges and water mains -- makes good fiscal sense and create jobs while keeping people and goods moving where they want to go.”

Study: Twitter Has Potential To ‘Induce Psychotic Symptoms’

LONDON (CBS Sacramento) – A new study finds that the downside to global social networks is the potential to ‟aggravate or even induce psychotic symptoms” in psychologically vulnerable patients.

Five doctors examined the real-life case of a 31-year-old woman the authors called ‟Mrs. C,” who was admitted to the psychiatric ward of a hospital in Berlin.

Medical records showed “Mrs. C” had never shown signs of any kind of personality disorder until she was committed following a year-long obsession withTwitter.

‟Sometimes, she would spend several hours a day reading and writing messages, neglecting her social relationships and, sometimes, even meals and regular sleeping hours,” said the study.

Son Buys Mom Her Dream Car (And Surprises Her With It)

Since I was a kid, my mom's been raving about this car that she's always wanted: an old Saab. Last year, I asked her to point out the exact car, in passing. She pointed out a copper coloured 1973 Saab 99 EMS.

A lot of people have been asking why her dream car is the Saab '73 99 EMS. My mom used to clean houses for a living, and one of the houses she would clean for a few years was a guy who owned a 70's saab 99. He would throw her the keys and let her move the car all the time and she fell in love with it.

After 6 months of looking, my friend found one on eBay and I reached out to the seller. It wasn't the same year or colour, but it was close. It was a silver 1974. After talking with him on the phone, I found out he had a lot of collectible Saabs, one of which was the exact make, model, colour and year I was looking for.

It took me another 6 months to get it, but surprising her with it made it all worthwhile.

For those who are watching and aren't familiar with the project, I'll explain it here:

2.5 years ago, my mom lost her job and I set off on a challenge to earn enough money to financially retire her. I haven't been successful yet, but this is a big milestone in helping to improve her life. She hasn't had a car in a year, and the one before that was falling apart.

'She became extremely sad'

Carers for the world's most intelligent gorilla claim she was 'close to tears' following news of Robin Williams' death - 13 years after video captured the two becoming fast friends

News of Robin Williams' untimely death hit particularly close to home for famed sign language gorilla Koko, who handlers say was moved nearly to tears by the somber mood shared by all at her Northern California home.

Staff at the Gorilla Foundation were, like much of America, in mourning after hearing the news Monday. Williams visited their center in 2001 and quickly befriended Koko, making her laugh for the first time in six months.

So when they explained to Koko, who is fluent in American Sign Language, that a dear friend of the center had died, she soon became sad and is pictured sitting hunched over with a quivering lip.

Hillary’s apology to Obama is all about salvaging the African American vote

Despite what you may hear from the corrupt media who said a community organizer was qualified to be president, Hillary Clinton’s take back is about keeping the black vote in line.

In reality Hillary Clinton is Barack Obama in a pantsuit. So her task with the help of the media is to lie when she can to distance herself away from Obama’s radio activity.

It’s an impossible feat, but nonetheless will be interesting to watch.

Roadside Campaign Signs May Be Installed

Dover -- With some exceptions, political signs can now be installed along the roads throughout Delaware, due to an exemption in state law.

Normally, signs installed along the right of way (state-owned strip of land along the roads) are prohibited, but state law allows signs to be installed along the roads 30 days prior and 30 days after an election, with some restrictions. Because there are statewide primaries this year, candidates and campaign workers were able to begin installing signs on August 10.

However, there are still many restrictions on where the signs can placed.

Specifically, the law prohibits at all times all non-official signage in medians, in channelization islands, on utility poles, and no closer than 10 feet from the edge of pavement of state roads and highways. This is also known as the Clear Zone Law. Outside the Clear Zone, signs are allowed to be placed in the remaining portion of the right of way during an election cycle. Starting this year, signs are also prohibited in the triangular strips of land between roads and access ramps; an area called the "gore" or "gore point".

Because it is prohibited to stop on a limited-access highway, I-95, I-495, I-295 and the tolled portions of Route 1, placement of signs along these roadways is discouraged.

The goal of the Clear Zone Law is simple:

Keep the rights-of-way and utility poles clear of visual pollution, which contribute to litter and can be a safety hazard. The law must be applied equally to all who place signs in the right of way. The law subjects the owner of an illegal sign or other obstruction placed in the state's right of way to a $25 per sign fine and a $15 per sign recovery fee.

All signs must be removed 30 days after the election has concluded.

Backlash: College men challenge 'guilty until proven innocent' standard for sex assault cases

Kevin Parisi is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and barely weighs 120 pounds.

He’s hunched over and walking with a cane after back surgery earlier this year. He suffers from severe anxiety and digestive disorders, along with extreme allergies and panic attacks.

But in his junior year at Drew University in Madison, N.J., Parisi was accused of forcing a fellow student — one who is now a professional athlete — to have sex with him.

He was kicked off campus and placed under investigation. Three months went by before he was found "not responsible" in a campus disciplinary proceeding. Local police never filed charges against him.

Being accused, however, was enough to cause his world to collapse. Now he is suing Drew for assuming he was guilty from the outset and treating him as such until it was determined he was innocent.

He is also suing his accuser and her boyfriend at the time, claiming they concocted the false allegation to preserve their relationship. The Washington Examiner has chosen not to publish their names.

Navy Removes Bibles From Guest Rooms

There is growing outrage among sailors and religious liberty advocates over adirective that calls for the removal of Bibles from lodges and hotels run on U.S. Navy bases. The directive comes after an atheist group filed a formal complaint earlier this year over the placement of Bibles in the rooms.

"The current direction is to remove all religious material from Navy Lodge guest rooms," read an email to a Navy chaplain from The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM). "For those Navy Lodges with religious materials currently in guest rooms, the Navy Lodge General Manager will contact the Installation Chaplain's office who will provide guidance on the removal procedure disposition of these materials."

The American Family Association received an exclusive copy of a similar directive from NEXCOM, the organization that manages the lodges.

"The Navy Lodge General Manager should advise the Installation Commanding Officer of our intention to work through the chaplain's office to determine what installation policy is and the method to remove religious material currently in the guest rooms," read a directive approved by Michael Bockelman, the vice president of NEXCOM and the director of the Navy Lodge Program.

Officials Begin Removing Names From Sex Registry

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Corrections officials say they have started the process of removing more than 800 names from Maryland's Sex Offender Registry.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said Tuesday that other sex offenders are also being reviewed for possible removal for crimes that occurred before 1995.

In May, the Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that retroactively requiring sex offenders to register for crimes committed before the registry was created in 1995 violates Maryland's constitution.

How A Crazy Sex Drug Inspired Mass Police Raids Across America

On November 2, 2002, a large group of police officers in tactical gear descended on a rave party in Racine, Wisconsin. The cops kicked in doors, dragged young people from bathroom stalls, threw others to the floor, and held dozens more at gunpoint.

The police issued more than 450 citations of $968 each to partygoers merely for attending an event where some attendees were breaking the state’s drug laws. Only three people were arrested on actual drug charges. With help from the ACLU, the city of Racine eventually dismissed the charges against all attendees who hadn’t yet pleaded guilty.

The trendy new drug throwing the media and politicians into hysterics was Ecstasy. Raves were the new, weird, and different dance parties where teenagers were allegedly taking this crazy sex drug. Cue the moral panic, political grandstanding, and ensuing aggressive crackdown. Prior to the raid in Racine, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware seemed particularly obsessed with rave parties. Politicians seemed to think that any party with techno music, pulsing lights, and neon inevitably degenerated into underage kids getting high on Ecstasy and engaging in mass orgies.

ISIS Suicide Bombing Instructor Blows up Class By Accident: Feel-Good Story of 2014

An Isis commander at a terrorist training camp north of Baghdad accidentally detonated a belt packed with explosives during a demonstration in front of a group militants on Monday, killing himself and 21 nearby trainees.

The accident was a source of dark humour for locals, with suicide attacks in public spaces having become an almost daily occurrence in Iraq.

A bomber struck a falafel shop near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad last week, and when told of the bungled training demonstration by the New York Times, Raad Hashim, who works at a liquor store near the site of the bombing, burst out laughing.

"This is so funny," he said. "It shows how stupid they are, those dogs and sons of dogs."

On a more serious note, he added: "It also gives me pain, as I remember all the innocent people that were killed here.”

"This is God showing justice. This is God sending a message to the bad people and the criminals in the world, to tell them to stop the injustice and to bring peace. Evil will not win in the end. It’s always life that wins over death.

Those contacted must respond with supporting documents by Sept. 5 or risk losing coverage on Sept. 30, officials said.

High school may be forced to rehire African-American math teacher 'who called at-risk students lazy n*****s'

A math teacher who was fired this year for allegedly calling her students 'n*****s' may be re-hired after a judge ruled the school district didn't follow the proper steps in her termination.

Joyce Quiller, 51, taught math to at-risk students at Jean Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Florida when she got her termination letter last February.

A judge last month ruled that the Duval School District violated Quiller's union contract by firing her, instead of first putting her on suspension without pay.

'The School Board skipped step three and went directly to termination even though, if the allegations were true, they would have amounted to what is considered a minor offense,' Reginal Luster, Quiller's legal consultant, told WJXT. 'Not some type of severe misconduct on behalf of Ms Quiller. It does not warrant the termination.'

The school board will meet next week to discuss what to do about the judge's ruling.

GOP Delegates Seek Answers On Immigrant Children

Republican members of the House of Delegates are asking Gov. Martin O'Malley how Maryland will deal with the children coming to the state in the wave of unaccompanied minors from Central America entering the United States illegally.

In a letter Tuesday to O'Malley, the House GOP caucus asked several questions, including how many immigrant children are expected, how they will be sheltered, what public services they will need and how much it will cost.

Republicans urged the governor to brief General Assembly members on the state's response. They did not criticize O'Malley's policy of welcoming the children as refugees rather than treating them as lawbreakers, but statements issued by House GOP leaders reflected skepticism over the governor's approach.

Shortage of fishing poles

"If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles"
By Junius P. Longscroll down for his words of Wisdom  (you live in a country run by idiots.)

Food For Thought
If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally,

If you have to get your parents' permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion,

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote on who runs the government,

If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy leaders in Egypt,

If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat,

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched,

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more,

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of grade school for saying his teacher's "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable,

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones,

If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working, with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can't find work,

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more " safe" according to the government,

Think about the above before you vote in November..

On a pleasant Saturday this summer, Eric Holder, his daughters, their boyfriends and two security officers boarded a government-owned Gulfstream and jetted off to New York for the Belmont Stakes Thoroughbred horse race.

Even for personal trips like this, the attorney general doesn’t fly commercial. For security reasons, Holder — like other top government officials — flies a government plane, though is required to reimburse taxpayers for airfare.

According to records obtained by The Daily Caller through a Freedom of Information Act request, Holder is getting pretty good deal here — especially when he flies a government-owned Gulfstream V jet.

That one day trip to Elmont, N.Y. on June 7, according to records provided to TheDC by the Department of Justice, ended up costing the government $14,440.

A Small Price To Pay?

In response to Russia Fires Back With More Sanctions: NASA, Pepsi, McDonald’s, Autos in Spotlight a close friend responded “It’s a small price to pay to counter naked aggression.”

Questions

Naked aggression by whom? Who started this mess?

Who fomented the overthrow of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych.? Was it Russia or the US?

What country reneged on promises to not expand NATO into Eastern Europe? Was it Russia or the US?

What country has satellite coverage of the region and has failed to produce any evidence as to where Buk missile launchers were on the day MH17 crashed? Russia or the US?

What country stood the most to gain from the downing of MH17?
Why was MH17 rerouted far from its normal flight path to fly directly over a war zone?

But what the heck? Let’s ignore all those pointed questions. Let’s also ignore the Gulf of Tonkin resolution in Vietnam, an asinine war in Iraq, support for “moderate” rebels in Syria who in retrospect turned out to be Isis members, horrific errors in Afghanistan, lies that led us into war with Iraq, US involvement in the overthrow of the Shah of Iran, etc., etc..

And with virtually no evidence presented, please wrap yourself in the US flag, along with president Obama and senator John McCain, and believe every lie the US has to tell.

College Drinking Survey: Nearly Half of Maryland Students Binge Drink

About 47 percent of Maryland college students who responded to a survey on alcohol consumption engaged in binge drinking during the month before they were asked, according to a survey released Tuesday.

In the first Maryland College Alcohol Survey, binge drinking was defined as five or more drinks in a row within two hours for men and four drinks or more for women at least once in the past month.

William Kirwan, the University System of Maryland Chancellor, said the survey showed the rate of student drinking in Maryland reflected a rate of binge drinking similar to the national average.

JOHNSON: The 'mugging' of America by a GOP president

The Republican National Committee is trying out a curious new fundraising tactic: Rewriting history. The organization is actually trying to convince Republican donors that George W. Bush was a principled conservative and a great president.

Maybe the people running the RNC have amnesia. Perhaps they’ve managed to block out painful memories. It’s even conceivable someone at the RNC raided the liquor cabinet and was three sheets to the wind when they crafted their latest fundraising pitch.

There has to be some logical explanation.

Surely, the folks at the RNC aren’t foolish enough to think that they can reinvent reality and manage to make President Bush appear like some sort of limited-government hero and free-market icon. They can’t possibly believe the American public is gullible enough to buy such an outrageous tall tale, can they?
