Reporters from The Washington Post and the Huffington Post were arrested in Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday night while covering the protests that have rocked the St. Louis suburb.
Wesley Lowery, a Washington Post political reporter, and Ryan Reilly, a Huffington Post justice reporter, were arrested in a McDonalds shortly before 8 p.m. ET. Police entered the restaurant and told patrons there to leave, the reporters wrote on Twitter after their release. The police then asked Lowery and Reilly for their identification and, according to the reporters, arrested them because they weren't packing their bags fast enough.
Lowery also said the police officers "assaulted" him. "Officers slammed me into a fountain soda machine because I was confused about which door they were asking me to walk out of," he wrote on Twitter. Lowery also said that he and Reilly were released without paperwork or charges, and that the officers refused to provide the reporters with their names.

Heck no we don't live in a police state. They don't use Gestapo tactics. When will the sheep learn. It's ok for the police to blatantly kill citizens because they have a prior record or don't follow their orders quick enough or smell like pot or look at them cross-eyed or smart mouth them.
ReplyDeleteStill think the Constitution Means anything tho the Gestapo? Cops just walk into a public place and order people to leave, then assault REPORTERS, who (don't be surprised now) are afforded special protections under, ....uh....whats that thing called again? Oh yeah. The CONSTITUTION.
ReplyDeleteThey thumb their nose at our "rights".
Those cops should be immediately fired. And subject to civil action. Or subject to vigilantes.
The cops have enough time to hassle reporters? Aren't there some black kids they can shoot in the vicinity?
And, they refuse to identify themselves? ARMED (and dangerous) public SERVANTS think it's within their power to walk into a business where NO CRIME was reported and NO police were called, order everyone out, and take reporters into custody without charges (!), rough 'em up (you know, just to remind them that they COULD be killed and all the cops had to say was "they looked liked they were reaching for a weapon), and release them with no explanantion??
WE are THIS close to the edge.
What part of "protect and serve" were the Gestpo doing in this incident?
Truly, the "secret police" ARE in existence here in the USA.
Keep cheering.

ReplyDeleteWe are quickly moving to a police state and martial law.
I think the press may have been there to stir up trouble just for a news story or to put salt in a wound. Just like in the race riots of the sixty's, the press sometimes tries to stir up trouble.
