Nearly 14,000 Virginians may be at risk of losing health insurance coverage obtained under healthcare.gov due to “inconsistencies,” the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said Tuesday.
The federal insurance marketplace began sending notices to 310,000 consumers nationwide who signed up through the exchange and need to submit documentation to keep their coverage. At issue with most of these consumers are citizenship or immigration data matching issues, CMS said.
Those contacted must respond with supporting documents by Sept. 5 or risk losing coverage on Sept. 30, officials said.
