Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) reintroduced a bill Wednesday that would abolish the Department of Education.
Massie announced his plan to reintroduce his one-sentence bill to end the department in a Facebook post:
“The bill states, ‘The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2020,’” wrote the congressman. “Neither Congress nor the President, through his appointees, has the constitutional authority to dictate how and what our children must learn.”
Massie continued:
Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. should not be in charge of our children’s intellectual and moral development. States and local communities are best positioned to shape curricula that meet the needs of their students. Schools should be accountable. Parents have the right to choose the most appropriate educational opportunity for their children, including home school, public school, or private school.
Massie’s bill was reintroduced as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced an executive order eliminating the federally incentivized Common Core State Standards – which were rebranded as the Florida Standards – in his state:

Tucker: Congress Should Ban Smartphones For Children

The Criminal Justice Reforms Trump Didn't Mention in His State of the Union
The president touted a bipartisan bill he signed to reduce sentences for nonviolent drug offenders. But he's been quiet about his support for a new juvenile justice law that could impact more people.
In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Trump lauded Republican and Democratic members of Congress for coming together to pass criminal justice reforms. The First Step Act, which was signed by Trump in late December, reduces prison sentences for thousands of nonviolent federal inmates.
But another bipartisan measure signed in December, which will make sweeping changes to the nation's juvenile justice system, has received far less attention from the president and members of Congress even though it could impact more people since it also applies to state prisons and local jails.

Democrat Blames Trump For Democrats Blacking Up In The Past
Argues that blackface Democrats not resigning is “a result of not acting on President Trump’s bigotry”
A Democrat from Texas, has vowed to impeach the President, attempting to blame Trump over Democrats blacking up in the past.
Rep. Al Green attempted to argue that the refusal of both Virginia’s governor, Ralph Northam (D), and the state’s attorney general, Mark Herring (D), to resign after admissions of wearing blackface in the past is Trump’s fault.
Green stated that it “is but a symptom of a greater syndrome that currently plagues our country as a result of not acting on President Trump’s bigotry.”

Elizabeth Warren Hints at Other Documents Claiming Native American Heritage
“It was based on my understanding from my family’s stories.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) insisted once again on Wednesday that “family lore” was sufficient justification for claiming — beginning in 1984 in the Pow Wow Chowcookbook and in 1986 on her Texas Bar registration card — that she has Native American heritage.
She also hinted that more documents from “from that point in time” — presumably the 18-year period between 1986 and 2004 — may surface in which she identified as an American Indian in legally significant documents.
“Are there any more documents or forms like this out there that you have listed yourself as that could come out?” one reporter asked Warren specifically on Wednesday.
Warren responded:

Why Liberals Can't Talk Honestly About Abortion
Democrats will protect American children from the evils of trans fats and gay conversion therapy, but not from doctors who will kill them through negligent homicide in the first few hours of their lives.
This is the ugly reality of the contemporary abortion debate. It’s why most advocates will do about anything to avoid describing the unpleasant realities and consequences of their increasingly radical position.
This week, Senate Democrats blocked Nebraska Republican Sen. Ben Sasse’s effort for unanimous consent on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
It must be stressed that this bill isn’t technically about abortion; rather, it’s about protecting babies who survive the procedure. It seems the already risible argument of “my body, my choice” has morphed into “not my body anymore, still my choice.”

An Analysis of Trump’s Policy Proposals in State of the Union Address
President Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union address Tuesday night, and Heritage Foundation experts weighed in with analysis of the president’s policy proposals. Commentary editor of The Daily Signal, Daniel Davis, collected their responses for each issue. Here is what they had to say.
A Call for Robust Border Security
President Donald Trump’s remarks on immigration tonight reflected a commonsense, principled approach to the immigration problem that his opponents refuse to acknowledge in their obsession with opposing anything he does.
Trump also made a fundamental point that his opponents refuse to recognize when he said, “We have a moral duty to create an immigration system that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens.”

OPINION | The Unintended Consequences of Smoke-Free Public Housing
The policies can go a long way toward improving tenants' health, but they needn't result in evictions.
With temperatures in parts of the country threatening to hit record lows this winter, it's hard to imagine not having a safe, affordable place to live. But a rule prohibiting indoor smoking in public housing could result in evictions for tenants who break the rule repeatedly -- literally leaving them out in the cold. Last year, Jim Armstrong, a policy analyst for the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association, predicted that evictions for smoking violations would likely start around now.
Smoke-free housing has tremendous potential to improve health by ensuring that tenants have cleaner air to breathe and to enhance their safety by reducing fires. But, somewhat ironically, this potential will not be fully realized if residents are evicted for smoking.
Safety and stability are both essential elements of a healthy home. A safe, stable, affordable home is a critical foundation for good health and well-being. Stability not only provides families with consistent, predictable access to schools, jobs and social connections but also with the ability to plan beyond tomorrow. Conversely, housing instability creates disruption and anxiety for families and their children. Evictions can result in disruptions of work, school, support networks of families and friends, and health and other services.

Trump Welcomes 'Pocahontas' Elizabeth Warren to 2020 Campaign Trail
President Donald Trump taunted Sen. Elizabeth Warren as she officially announced Saturday her decision to run for president in 2020.
Despite Warren’s 1986 State Bar of Texas card resurfacing last week with her race identified as “American Indian,” she pushed forward with her presidential campaign announcement.
“Today Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Will she run as our first Native American presidential candidate, or has she decided that after 32 years, this is not playing so well anymore?”
Earlier Saturday, the Trump campaign said that Warren was “exposed as a fraud.”
“Elizabeth Warren has already been exposed as a fraud by the Native Americans she impersonated and disrespected to advance her professional career, and the people of Massachusetts she deceived to get elected,” said Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale.
Trump appeared ready to run against Warren in 2020.
“See you on the campaign TRAIL, Liz!” he said.

Philly Union Boss Indicted
116 charges against IBEW officials, city council Dem
One of Philadelphia's most powerful union bosses and the city's Democratic majority leader stand accused of embezzling funds from the workers they claimed to represent.
The Department of Justice indicted International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98 boss John "Doc" Dougherty Jr. and several other union officials, as well as Democratic City Councilman Bobby Henon, on corruption charges. They face 116 counts of misusing of union funds to serve their own interests rather than those of their members.
"When union leaders misdirect the organization's money for personal gain, they're breaching their obligation to members—and breaking the law," Michael T. Harpster, special agent in charge of the FBI's Philadelphia division, said in a statement. "Such corruption must not go unchecked. No matter how long it takes, the FBI and our partners will investigate and work to hold accountable unscrupulous union and public officials."
The indictment accuses the union officials and Henon, a labor official and the city council's majority leader, of using union coffers as a personal piggybank. They allegedly used their positions to enrich themselves, buying everything from concert tickets to receiving free labor on their homes. The corruption probe conducted by the FBI, Labor Department, IRS, and several other federal agencies found that the group "conspired and agreed to embezzle Local 98 funds for their own personal use and the use of their family members, friends, and commercial businesses."

"WTF Is Going On In Downtown LA?": Army War Drills Continue Across Los Angeles
Having started on Monday, the US Army continues its war drills across the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area through Saturday with the goal of enhancing Army Special Forces skills by "operating in urban environments", Army Special Operations Command said in a statement.
Residents around Los Angeles may hear sounds associated with the field training exercise, including helicopters and weapon simulations, according to the statement.
"The local terrain and training facilities in Los Angeles provide the Army with unique locations and simulates urban environments the service members may encounter when deployed overseas," the Army told CBS.
Downtown Los Angeles residents were shocked Monday night when a fleet of Boeing A/MH-6M Little Bird and Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters swooped in around them.

Study: Trump's Obamacare Reforms Will Save Americans $450 Billion
A White House study released on Friday found that President Donald Trump’s Obamacare reforms will save Americans roughly $450 billion over the next ten years.
A White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) study released on Friday found that Americans will save $450 billion through Trump’s Obamacare reforms. The CEA suggested that Trump’s repeal of the Obamacare individual mandate and the expansion of short-term insurance plans and Association Health Plans (AHPs) will save Americans billions over the next ten years.
The White House also suggested that the benefits of Trump’s deregulatory actions saved Americans billions, increased access to more health insurance options, and did not amount to a “sabotage” of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Trump's Agenda Is a Winning Formula for Black America
My fellow Americans.
Given that the Democratic Party chose to select a recently defeated political candidate to give a response to the president’s State of the Union address because she is black and a woman, I feel I should also step up and give my response.
Although I have not recently lost a governor’s contest, I am black and I am a woman.
Democrats want Americans, particularly minority Americans, to believe that a left-wing agenda is what they need and what will define America’s future.
I am here to say today that the agenda of the left is the problem, not the solution.
For too many years the left—and I am talking here about those with a hard-core secular humanist and socialist agenda—have been dominating discourse in our minority communities.
America’s future is in the values that defined it from the beginning. Christianity, capitalism, and the Constitution.
When I say Christianity, I do not mean to deny the bedrock of religious freedom. I mean to say that theses values must be predominant and define our nation and our culture.
There is no freedom without family, and there is no family without faith. It’s as simple as that.

After holiday lull, Central American family migration returns to record levels
U.S. border officials said Friday they saw an abrupt drop-off in illegal crossings during the holiday season, but the number of Central Americans arriving in family groups has returned to record levels since then.
The lull in unauthorized crossings suggests some Central American migrants - and the smuggling organizations that deliver them to the border - may have taken a break or deferred the journey north until after the holidays.
A CBP official told reporters Friday that about 75 percent of the family members detained in January arrived during the second half of the month. Family groups accounted for 59 percent of all border apprehensions, and although the total number of parents and children taken into custody - 24,116 - declined slightly from December, "that still represents one of the highest totals we have on record," one official said.

Human Rights Leader Says NY's Abortion Law ‘More Barbaric' than China
Prominent human rights advocate Reggie Littlejohn issued a scathing indictment of New York’s recently passed abortion legislation, saying on Friday that the law permits practices “more barbaric than that of the Chinese Communist Party.”
Ms. Littlejohn, a China expert and president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, told Breitbart News on Friday that even under China’s draconian one-child (now two-child) policy, the laws “acknowledged that once a woman was in labor, such procedures could not be used. The infant must be born alive.”
This is not the case in New York, she said, where abortion is now legal up to and even during childbirth.

Seven adult mumps cases confirmed at Houston ICE detention facility
Seven adult detainees at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Houston have been diagnosed with mumps, but the contagious disease is contained, the city's health department said on Saturday.
'Since these individuals were isolated inside the facility during the period they were infectious, we do not anticipate these cases posing a threat to the community,' Dr. David Persse, Houston's local health authority and emergency medical services medical director, said in a statement.
ICE's Houston Contract Detention Facility houses approximately 950-1,000 adults.

City's ordinance on toplessness doesn't discriminate
New Hampshire's highest court has upheld the convictions of three women arrested for going topless on a New Hampshire beach.
In a 3-2 ruling Friday, the state's Supreme Court found the city of Laconia's ordinance does not discriminate on the basis of gender or violate the women's right to free speech. In a dissenting opinion, two judges argued the ordinance was unconstitutional because it treats men and women differently.
Heidi Lilley, Kia Sinclair and Ginger Pierro are part of the Free the Nipple campaign. They were arrested in 2016 after removing their tops at a beach in Laconia and refusing to put them on when beachgoers complained.
Pierro was doing yoga while the other two women were sunbathing.
The women argued this was a form of gender-based discrimination because men don't have to follow the same rules. The law's supporters argue it helps prevent public disturbances.

House GOP Plans Sustained Effort to Expose Leftist Democrats on Abortion
House Republicans are gearing up for a sustained push to expose leftist Democrats in the House Democrat majority on their increasingly extreme views on abortion, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
Specifically, Republicans–as they have demonstrated for three consecutive legislative days–intend to push for a floor vote against Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s wishes on a piece of legislation from Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) that would ensure babies who are born alive following an abortion attempt are given the same medical treatment and care any other newborn baby would receive.
“Protecting innocent life shouldn’t be a partisan issue and it shouldn’t be difficult. Infanticide is barbaric and the growing trend of Democrats advocating it is frightening,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican, told Breitbart News.

Study: Voter ID Laws Do Not Stop People Voting
Strict voter ID laws do not suppress turnout, a new paper finds, regardless of sex, race, Hispanic identity, or party affiliation.
Requiring photo ID to vote is a hotly contested subject in American political discourse. Proponents argue that it is necessary to insure against fraud and preserve the integrity of the American electoral system. Opponents argue that it will disenfranchise otherwise eligible voters—many of whom would be poor and of color—who are unable to easily obtain ID.
In total, 10 states, ranging from Georgia to Wisconsin, require voters to show ID in order to vote. Seven of those states require a photo ID, and three do not. An additional 25 states "request" that voters display ID, but may still permit them to vote on a provision ballot if they cannot. The remaining states "use other methods to verify the identity of voters," according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
The new research, from an economics professor at the University of Bologna and another at Harvard Business School, indicates that "strict" voting laws of the type implemented in those ten states do not have a statistically significant effect on voter turnout.

Mayoral task force recommends paying struggling Chicagoans $1,000 a month
Some Chicago families could start collecting a $1,000 check every month with no strings attached. That's the new proposal from a task force created by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The idea is to break the cycle of poverty. The pilot program would give 1,000 struggling Chicagoans $1,000 a month.

Appeals court rules Trump can build border wall
A federal appeals court ruled Monday that the Trump administration has the power to waive environmental laws in order to speed up border wall construction, dealing a major symbolic blow to the president’s opponents.
The three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which President Trump regularly likes to chide as too liberal, sided with him this time.
The judges said federal law gives the administration broad powers to waive any laws in order to get the wall built.
“In short, the plain text [of the law] grants DHS authority to construct the prototype, San Diego and Calexico projects,” the judges ruled.
They were referring to some of the earliest wall-building projects the young Trump administration pursued.
Since then, Homeland Security has constructed new fencing across the southwest border, replacing vehicle barriers and upgrading old, substandard fence. And last week the government began to build the first new barriers on the border that was previously unprotected by any barriers.
In each of those cases, the Homeland Security Department has also issued waivers.

Hungary: ‘Border Protection Is an Obligation of the State’
Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó has explained how Hungary slashed illegal immigration by building strong border barriers and praised U.S. President Donald Trump in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News.
Hungary, a conservative-led Central European country with a population of around ten million, found itself overwhelmed in late 2015 when Germany’s Angela Merkel took it upon herself to invite millions of migrants to the European Union unilaterally.
Hundreds of thousands surged across Hungary’s southern frontier — one of the EU’s external borders — trampling farmers’ crops and stealing food from vegetable patches and greenhouses. Some later turned out to be radical Islamic terrorists, including over ten of the jihadists involved in the Bataclan massacre in Paris.
“It was terrible, there were 400,000 illegal migrants violating our border, and violation of a border means disrespect towards a country,” Mr Szijjártó told Breitbart’s Amanda House.

Antifa activist facing assault charges was tied to Democrat policymakers
What a difference a year made for Joseph Alcoff.
On Monday, the 37-year-old has a court date in connection with charges he’s facing in Philadelphia that include aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation for allegedly being part of an Antifa mob in November that attacked two Marines, Alejandro Godinez and Luis Torres, both Hispanic. Alcoff and two others charged in the attack have pleaded not guilty.
But while Democratic officials are distancing themselves from Alcoff now, until recently he was a well-connected, aspiring political player in Washington who may have even had a hand in key policy proposals.
His endorsement apparently mattered when several congressional Democrats in February 2018 issued press releases with his quote backing their bill on regulating payday lenders.
As the payday campaign manager for the liberal group Americans for Financial Reform, Alcoff participated in congressional Democratic press conferences, was a guest on a House Democratic podcast and met with senior officials at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2016 through 2018.
He was also pictured with now-House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and ranking Democrat on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio. Both committees oversee financial regulatory policies Alcoff was advocating.
Alcoff met with then CFPB Director Richard Cordray and other senior CFPB officials on April 2016, again in March 2017 and a third time in May 2017, as first reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
During this time, he reportedly was an Antifa leader in Washington.

Oklahoma House Committee Passes Bill to End Concealed Permit Requirement
Oklahoma’s House Public Safety Committee passed legislation this week designed to end the concealed carry permit requirement in the state.
71 Republic reported that the legislation, HB 2579, would make Oklahoma the fifteenth permitless carry state. This would mean nearly a third of all states allow guns to be carried openly or concealed for self-defense based on the Second Amendment alone.
On May 12, 2018, Breitbart News reported that similar legislation passed the Oklahoma House on April 25, 2018, by a vote of 59-28. It passed the Senate on May 2, 2018, by a vote of 33 to 9. But then-Gov. Mary Fallin (R) vetoed it.
The Herald-Dispatch reported, however, that Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) “has said he will sign it.”
On January 31, 2019, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) signed legislation removing her state’s concealed carry permit requirement.

South Dakota Becomes Latest Permitless Gun-Carry State
NRA says law allows 'South Dakotans to exercise their fundamental right to self-protection in the manner that best suits their needs'
South Dakota governor Kristi Noem (R.) signed the state's permitless carry bill into law on Thursday.
The bill, SB47, eliminates the state's requirement that residents obtain a permit in order to legally carry a firearm. Instead, so long as a resident is legally allowed to possess a firearm, they are legally allowed to carry it concealed on their person.
Noem said the new law is in line with the country's founding principles and protects South Dakotans gun rights.

The mysterious case of AOC’s scrubbed 'Green New Deal' details
On Feb. 5, the congressional office of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez posted a new blog entry under “energy issues” detailing her "Green New Deal" proposal and answering “frequently asked questions.”
The page, announcing an 8:30 a.m. launch on Feb. 7, is now gone, and a top adviser suggested Friday it was actually authored and distributed by the GOP.
By the afternoon of Feb. 7, Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., removed the document from her website without explanation but following backlash and even ridicule over the radical plans outlined within it, including a call to "eliminate emissions from cows or air travel" — which would functionally ban the latter — and to provide “economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work.”
The document vanished just hours after Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., formally unveiled a "Green New Deal" resolution that has so far attracted 67 Democratic co-sponsors in the House. It’s a nonbinding measure that is less detailed than the now-deleted FAQ document but calls for a complete and speedy overhaul of the nation’s energy, transportation, and farming sectors in order to eliminate carbon emissions in the coming decades.
The communications staff has so far not responded to an inquiry about the now-missing blog post.

29 of New Mexico's 33 Sheriffs Sign Letter Against Red Flag Law
Twenty-nine of New Mexico’s 33 Sheriffs signed a statement against a red flag law, universal background checks, and other gun controls being pushed by the state’s Democrat lawmakers.
New Mexico Democrats are also pushing gun storage laws.
CBS 7 quoted Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton saying, “You’re just taking guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands. This is not going to affect the criminals out there. They’re going to be able to get guns and they do not follow the law.”

Power grid serving 65 million may be at risk in East, Midwest
Electricity is the most important and convenient way to consume energy. Without it, we’d literally be living in the “Dark Ages.” However, we often forget that it takes energy to make energy.
With the electricity generation mix changing dramatically in recent years, this is no simple task. There is no more disputing it: the combination of too few power plants being built and too many serviceable power plants being shuttered prematurely threatens the viability of America’s power supply. How well — or poorly — power systems address the problem will be critical to ensuring a reliable, affordable and secure supply of energy in the years ahead.
A decade ago, about 50 percent of the electricity consumed in the United States came from coal-fired generation plants. Today, natural gas is the leader, providing more than 50 percent, while coal’s share has dropped to less than 30 percent. In fact, coal capacity in the United States has fallen by more than a third since 2010, and another 25 percent of today’s fleet is set to close by 2025.

Abortion on Demand In Maryland
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that "Maryland’s House Speaker Michael E. Busch plans to lead an effort to enshrine a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy in the state constitution, joining a number of other states attempting to preempt any possible move by the Supreme Court to erode abortion protections." (8/2/18 article in Baltimore Sun)
The innocent killing of unborn babies across our state and the country is not something to be "enshrined."
It needs to be stopped and any attempt to put abortion in our state Constitution must be opposed at all costs.
By signing this petition you are supporting Maryland Pro-Life Alliance PAC's position that this amendment be voted down.
Speaker Busch is planning to push this dangerous scheme in January 2019.
Now is our time to prepare to defeat this measure in the legislature. Please sign this petition now and donate to this cause to hold the pro-abort politicians accountable on this issue.

NYC Councilman Won't Apologize For Homosexual Comment
A city council member in New York City is refusing to apologize for saying that the Bronx City Council is “controlled by the homosexual community,” The New York Daily News reported over the weekend.
Ruben Diaz, who has represented the 18th District in the New York City Council since January 2018, made the comment while speaking on the Spanish-language radio program, “El Desahogo," last week, according the Daily News, sparking demands from other politicians for an apology.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio sent out a tweet saying that “The disgraceful and homophobic comments made by Ruben Diaz Sr. don’t reflect this city’s values. The council member owes an apology to @NYCSpeakerCoJo and 8.6 million New Yorkers.”
But Diaz has instead doubled down on his comments, telling the Daily News that they are the truth and not homophobic.
He added in a tweet that "what’s homophobic about saying that the gay community controls the NYC city council? I’m giving them credit for the power and influence they have."

Blackface: The Social Justice Gestapo Strikes Again
Teacher's Firing is Latest Example of Social Justice in Lieu of Changing Hearts and Minds.
America's social justice Gestapo has ensnared another citizen amid increased efforts to rid the world of all racially impure thoughts, looks, jokes, Halloween costumes, advertising materials, historical documents, and lastly, rational thought and common sense.
Yessir! Hooray for social justice! Now let's burn us some conservative, church-going, pillars of the community bigots!
This shameful 'blackface witchhunt' of late is one of the most regressive crusades to combat bigotry I've witnessed in my lifetime, and ironically, it is being propagated by the very leftists who purport to be taking a stand against injustice and hatred.
The latest individual to be targeted by the misguided mobs of the anti-blackface fashion brigade is Richard Gist, a now-former assistant coach at Brown County Schools, who was forced to resign after a decade-old photo surfaced of Gist dressed in blackface for Halloween.
Of course, "blackface" is just how the local media outlets and liberal hysterics have described the controversial photo. In reality, Gist was merely dressed in generic Bob Marley attire, and while the picture reveals he had darkened his skin as a part of the costume, no clear thinking individual would assume that Gist intended to cause harm or promote racist propaganda.
Unfortunately, we now live in an era of "seek and destroy," courtesy of misguided leftists who are out to inflict pain and deliver payback for the sins of our ancestors. Their goal is the complete and total destruction of individuals, their reputations and careers, and it's all being done in the name of 'justice.'
Shameful.
In reality, their twisted and vengeful 'do-goodery' breeds a wicked and devastating resentment that impedes the progress of bi-partisan efforts to combat injustice and racial inequality in America - efforts that are rooted in understanding and forgiveness rather than vindictive hatred.

Notre Dame Professor Calls Covington Catholic An Example Of ‘Violent Manifestation Of Whiteness’
On January 25, during the University of Notre Dame’s "Walk the Walk Week," a six-member panel convened by the Meditation Program of the university’s Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies hosted an event called "Confronting Whiteness at Notre Dame: Power, Identity, and Exclusion."
According to the university’s independent Catholic student newspaper, the Irish Rover, the professor who moderated the event talked about forms of "violent manifestation whiteness," listing the debunked Covington Catholic School controversy as an example.
"The illusion of whiteness as related to racial categorization disguises what is actually important … namely, white is a description of both a political condition and a mechanism for the distribution of power," Professor David Anderson Hooker, a professor of the practice of conflict transformation and peacebuilding, said. "Where it has real relation to the concept of racism, the two don’t squarely overlap."
Hooker noted that the "kind of whiteness that we’re investigating isn’t that kind of repulsive, violent manifestation of whiteness" like "the kind of Richard Spencer, Milo Yiannopoulos, Ann Coulter, Steve King, Charlottesville, Covington Catholic School forms," reports the Irish Rover.

Pelosi, Dem leaders condemn Rep. Omar for 'anti-Semitic' language
In an unprecedented rebuke under the new Congress, House Democratic leaders on Monday roundly condemned Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., for statements about supporters of Israel that were widely viewed as anti-Semitic and called on her to apologize.
The statement issued by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic leadership team followed the latest in a string of controversial comments from the freshman lawmaker -- as well as pressure from Republican leaders to speak out.
“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception," the statement said. "We are and will always be strong supporters of Israel in Congress because we understand that our support is based on shared values and strategic interests. Legitimate criticism of Israel’s policies is protected by the values of free speech and democratic debate that the United States and Israel share. But Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive.

Singer’s Pro-Trump Dress Was the Perfect Way to ‘Welcome’ Michelle to the Grammys
If there’s one reason to pay attention to the Grammys — aside from getting yourself worked up over the fact that the worst song and/or album always seems to win its respective category — it’s Joy Villa’s sartorial decisions.
The singer first made news back in 2017 with a “Make America Great Again” dress, one that was the source of many headlines in an industry where the mood is almost unanimously liberal.
In 2018, she decided to wear a gown with an explicit pro-life message, according to Variety, again managing to throw a small cultural wrench into the proceedings.

Florida Teacher Fired for Giving Zeros to Students Who Don’t Turn in Their Work
A Florida teacher has been fired for giving her students zeros for missing assignments.
Diane Tirado has been a teacher for years. Most recently, she was an eighth-grade history teacher at Westgate K-8 School in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Diane recently gave her students two weeks to complete an Explorer notebook project, but several students simply didn’t hand it in. Since there was zero work done, Diane gave them zeros.
She got fired for it.

Brooklyn tenants claim building is overrun with topless coeds
High-paying residents of an amenity-loaded doorman building in Downtown Brooklyn are unhappily getting schooled.
Tenants of The Azure tell The Post they’re angry their pricey digs are being used as a de facto dorm for students of The King’s College in lower Manhattan.
“They marketed it as being a luxury building with families,” said Tommaso Kralj, a 38-year-old stay-at-home dad who lives at The Azure with his wife and 10-month-old son.
But then The Azure — which is currently advertising a 628-square-foot two-bedroom pad for $3,950 a month — struck a deal to rent some 30 percent of its 150 units to the school, according to Diana A. Ortiz, who works for the building’s management firm.
Now residents are resentful about sharing fancy amenities and common spaces with the students, some of them topless or clad in pajamas, who moved in last August.
“The students take over the gym,” said one female tenant. “They’re wearing earbuds and yelling to hear each other. It’s not where you want to be as an adult.”

Yale Newspaper Publishes Guide To Destroying "White Boy" Lives Using "Stasi Tactics"
At the Yale Daily News, East Germany had nothing on the paper's opinion editor, Isis Davis-Marks.
The Nazi SS had nothing. The Castroite Cuban turbas had nothing. Mao's cultural revolution had nothing.
Here's what Davis-Marks has in mind for Yale college kids:
Everyone knows a white boy with shiny brown hair and a saccharine smile that conceals his great ambitions. He could be in Grand Strategy or the Yale Political Union. Maybe he's the editor-in-chief of the News. He takes his classes. He networks. And, when it comes time for graduation, he wins all the awards.
One day, I'll turn on the television — or, who knows, maybe televisions will be obsolete by this point — and I'll see him sitting down for his Senate confirmation hearing. Yes, he'll be a bit older, with tiny wrinkles sprouting at the corners of his eyes and a couple of gray hairs jutting out of the top of his widow's peak. But that smile, that characteristic saccharine smile, will remain the same.
When I'm watching the white boy — who is now a white man by this point — on CNN, I'll remember a racist remark that he said, an unintentional utterance that he made when he had one drink too many at a frat party during sophomore year. I'll recall a message that he accidentally left open on a computer when he forgot to log out of iMessage, where he likened a woman's body to a particularly large animal. I'll kick myself for forgetting to screenshot the evidence.
She concludes...
We allow things to skate by. We forget. We say, "No, he couldn't have done that," or, "But he's so nice." No questions are asked when our friends accept job offers from companies that manufacture weapons or contribute to gentrification in cities. We merely smile at them and wave as we walk across our residential college courtyards and do nothing. Thirty years later, we kick ourselves when it's too late.
But I can't do that anymore — I can't let things slip by. I'm watching you, white boy. And this time, I'm taking the screenshot.
So here we have the lovely state of affairs at Yale University, which gave this mediocrity - after a clearly cosseted upbringing among the elites - an admission slot.
She's urging her fellow students to follow white males around, monitor them, spy on them, screenshot them, and document everything they do, in the hopes of ruining their careers at some point 30 years down the line. If she knew anything about the history of socialism or communism, which, to make charitable assumptions, she doesn't, she's in fact calling for a Stasi-like atmosphere, as seen in The Lives of Others, all because she was so inspired by the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, with the Senate Democrats' last desperate tactic of bringing up false stories dating from college as a means of sinking Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination.

Amazon Helped Create the Invasion of Privacy Jeff Bezos Now Protests
Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos launched a tirade against the invasion of his privacy, last week, after the National Enquirer reportedly obtained private images of the billionaire. Bezos’ company Amazon, however, helped create the culture of invasion of privacy he now protests.
In a blog post, Thursday, Bezos’ claimed he was being blackmailed by the National Enquirer, and insinuated that both President Trump and Saudi Arabia were responsible.
“If Bezos were the political victim of surveillance state abuses, it would be scandalous and dangerous. It would also be deeply ironic,” declared the Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald on Friday. “That’s because Amazon, the company that has made Bezos the planet’s richest human being, is a critical partner for the U.S. Government in building an ever-more invasive, militarized and sprawling surveillance state.”
“Indeed, one of the largest components of Amazon’s business, and thus one of the most important sources of Bezos’ vast wealth and power, is working with the Pentagon and the NSA to empower the U.S. Government with more potent and more sophisticated weapons, including surveillance weapons,” Greenwald proclaimed, noting Amazon’s development of facial recognition software for governments.
The facial recognition software, known as Rekognition, has been shopped to various government agencies, despite it mistakenly identifying criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted List as famous celebrities, and misidentifying 28 members of Congress as police suspects.

Cory Booker makes himself look the fool, again
Sen. Cory Booker made himself look the fool yet again this week while questioning judicial nominee Neomi Rao.
At Tuesday’s confirmation hearing, the Jersey Democrat senator went after Rao with the clear suspicion that she’s some kind of religious bigot, asking first: “Have you ever had an LGBTQ law clerk?”
Her reply exposed Booker’s total lack of preparation: “I have not been a judge, so I don’t have any law clerks.”
He fell back to asking if anyone now working for her is LGBTQ — and she humiliated him again: “To be honest, I don’t know the sexual orientation of my staff. I take people as they come, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation.”
But Booker wouldn’t let go, asking, “Are gay relationships in your opinion immoral?”

Fairfax Staffers Resign Following Second Accusation Of Sexual Assault
Two of Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax's staffers and two employees of his political action committee have resigned following a Friday report of a second sexual assault allegation against the embattled politician, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The PAC employees who left are Dave Mills, who was the executive director of We Rise Together, and Courtney McCargo, a fundraiser for the PAC.
Mills is the husband of state Sen. Jennifer McClellan, D-Richmond, who is considered a strong contender to replace Fairfax as lieutenant governor should Fairfax resign.
On the government side, Adele McClure, the policy director, resigned, as did Julia Billingsly, the scheduling director. -Richmond Times-Dispatch
Still standing by Fairfax - so far, are communications director Lauren Burke who is employed by his PAC, and his chief of staff Larry Roberts, who remains a state employee.
According to the Times-Dispatch, the job of lieutenant governor is part time - while law firm Morrison & Foerster has placed Fairfax on paid leave.
As we reported last week, Meredith Watson, a friend of Fairfax's at Duke University when they were both undergraduates, alleges that Fairfax raped her in a "premeditated and aggressive" assault in 2000.
Watson is the second woman to come forward alleging Fairfax sexually assaulted her.
Speaking through an attorney, Nancy Erika Smith, Watson said that she shared her claim immediately after it happened with several classmates who have provided statements, while her lawyer added that Wilson shared her account with friends in several Facebook messages and emails.

Police: Md. human traffickers released on bond despite immigration, public safety concerns
Three weeks after Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan declared war on human trafficking, two men accused of taking part in the illegal sex trade, were released from jail despite immigration, flight risk and public safety concerns.
The case highlights the frustrations shared by multiple law enforcement sources working to eradicate pimps and madams, but finding themselves at the mercy of the judicial system that can often have a more lenient worldview.

The Brothel Along Garland Avenue:
In August 2018, the Montgomery County Police Department’s gang unit conducted an undercover sting at an apartment building along Garland Avenue in Silver Spring, near Rolling Terrace Elementary School. The officers witnessed various men come and go from the building.
Police stopped a number of suspected “johns” as they left the area. All admitted to paying for sex with an unknown woman inside. One man confessed to shelling out $30 for a 20-minute appointment. Another man explained he knocked on the apartment door, was let in by a short, heavyset man, paid that individual $35 and was then allowed into the bedroom.

Solomon: Evidence Mounts Of Democrats' Collusion With Russia
After Congressional investigations in both the House and Senate have failed to produce evidence that Donald Trump and his campaign colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 US election from Hillary Clinton, The Hill's John Solomon points out the deafening silence over clear links between the Kremlin and the woman who would have been President had Donald Trump lost.
Aside from the fact that the Clinton-funded Steele Dossier heavily relied on a Russian source. And the fact that John Podesta (who would have likely become Secretary of State) sat on the board of an energy company with a Kremlin official and a Russian oligarch - tangible evidence of Russian collusion exists. Once again, Solomon digs deeper into the upside-down to reveal Russian ties that would see Donald Trump jailed for treason by the left's standards.
Congressional investigators have painstakingly pieced together evidence that shows the Clinton research project had extensive contact with Russians.
Steele’s main source of uncorroborated allegations against Trump came from an ex-Russian intelligence officer. “Much of the collection about the Trump campaign ties to Russia comes from a former Russian intelligence officer (? not entirely clear) who lives in the U.S.,” Ohr scribbled. -The Hill
In today's episode of the Twilight Zone, Solomon spotlights Hillary Clinton's close relationship with Russian leaders which raised concerns over a wholesale technology transfer to the Kremlin, right around the time of the Uranium One deal and Bill Clinton's now-infamous trip to Russia (where he hung out at Putin's house) and picked up a $500,000 check for one speech.
As secretary of State, Hillary Clinton worked with Russian leaders, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-President Dmitri Medvedev, to create U.S. technology partnerships with Moscow’s version of Silicon Valley, a sprawling high-tech campus known as Skolkovo.
Clinton’s handprint was everywhere on the 2009-2010 project, the tip of a diplomatic spear to reboot U.S.-Russian relations after years of hostility prompted by Vladimir Putin’s military action against the former Soviet republic and now U.S. ally Georgia.
A donor to the Clinton Foundation, Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg, led the Russian side of the effort, and several American donors to the Clinton charity got involved. Clinton’s State Department facilitated U.S. companies working with the Russian project, and she personally invited Medvedev to visit Silicon Valley.
The collaboration occurred at the exact same time Bill Clinton made his now infamous trip to Russia to pick up a jaw-dropping $500,000 check for a single speech. -The Hill
