All it takes is a quick glance at the National Football League’s recent ratings to realize that their stance on players kneeling for the National Anthem in not in line with the stance taken by their American viewership. In fact, it would appear that the League and their supporters at ESPN are in the wrong on this whole fight.
But don’t take it from me, take it from liberal sports commentator Stephen Smith, who is now being forced to admit that the football players who are kneeling for the anthem are losing to President Trump.

Mom sees 3 men gang raping her daughter, stabs one of them to death — and faced MURDER CHARGES
It doesn’t matter where on the planet you live, a mother’s fierce devotion to the welfare of her children is one of the strongest forces you’ll ever see. Generally speaking, there is no length to which a mother will not go to ensure the safety and well-being of her kids, and that included killing anyone who is putting them in danger.
A mother in South Africa was facing murder charges after killing a man and stabbing two others after she was alerted to the fact that they were sexually assaulting her daughter, which is something anyone with kids would do, right?

Michigan Man Gains Joint Custody Of Child He Had With 12-Yr Old Rape Victim- She’s Not His Only Victim
Christopher Mirasalo raped a 12-year-old girl when he was 18, and now at 27 he has been awarded to have joint custody of the child that was conceived.
The girl, now a 21, was not the only victim of Mirasalo’s. Christopher, now 27, was convicted of raping another child in a separate incident.
In Brown City, Michigan, Mirasalo has been given joint custody of the child conceived in that first rape case in 2008, has also served a separate four years in prison for his sexual assault of a second child.
The woman, 21, is using any legal method at her disposal to prevent Mirsalo from having access to her child, using the Rape Survival Child Custody Act. The woman’s attorney is arguing that since Mirasalo had both forcibly raped and threatened her with death threats as a child in September of 2008 he should be prevented from having any access.

The NFL Protests Are Bad, But Is There A Bigger More Evil Truth Behind It All?
As I’ve said from the beginning, there is always a radical leftist element behind things such as the NFL protests. And it’s frequently not what you think it is. Case in point… the NFL Players Association is an affiliate of the major left-wing employee union AFL-CIO. In other words, communists. They donate a ton of money to leftist organizations and causes. Among those is the oft mentioned “resistance” to President Trump. Charity is once again being used as a cover to fund radical, communist movements.
Evidently, the NFLPA is funding groups such as Center for Community Change (CCC), which advocates for complete Amnesty for illegal immigrants, as well as Working America, a Big Labor organization that promotes far-left “class consciousness.” Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), spent $3 million on Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign last year. Working America donated more than $4 million and knocked on 2.5 million doors on behalf of Clinton in battleground states. The NFLPA’s donations to radical organizations are controlled by powerful Marxists such as George Soros and Deepak Bhargava.

Jemele Hill scandal: Pressure mounts on Disney CEO Bob Iger to fire ESPN star
Disney boss Bob Iger is facing mounting pressure on multiple fronts regarding ESPN anchor Jemele Hill, whose racially charged statements have ticked off conservatives and now possibly NFL bigwigs.
From a business standpoint, firing Hill would be an obvious solution. But Iger, who is believed to harbor 2020 presidential aspirations, could risk upsetting the left.
ESPN suspended Hill on Monday after she violated the company’s social media guidelines for the second time in less than a month. First she called President Trump a “white supremacist” and claimed if he “were not white, he never would have been elected.” But it took Hill potentially impacting the network’s bottom line with Twitter rhetoric to be punished.
In the second instance Sunday, she took to Twitter and encouraged fans who weren't happy with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ policy that his players must stand for the national anthem to boycott the team’s advertisers.

EPA, do us all a favor and don't pick favorites
President Trump's administration is killing one of former President Barack Obama's most dangerous overreaches, the Clean Power Plan. Federal law as currently interpreted won't let the administration stop there. The Environmental Protection Agency will probably need to replace the plan. This needs to be done with care, and warily, for there will be much special pleading for favors by different industries, and many legal pitfalls.
You may recall when Democrats lost control of Senate after the 2014 elections, Obama belittled Congress and boasting that he'd go around it with executive orders — his "a pen and a phone." The next year, his EPA issued the Clean Power Plan, seeking to impose by fiat what even a Democratic Congress had rejected, regulating greenhouse gas emissions by power plants.
After the House passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill in 2009, Senate Democrats, even with a 60-vote supermajority, couldn't get the bill across the finish line.
Instead, Obama leaned on the Supreme Court ruling inMassachusetts v. EPAwhich found somehow that the Clean Air Act required the EPA to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
Through the 2015 Clean Power Plan the Obama administration implemented that ruling, but not by actually regulating emissions from power plants. The rule created a complex scheme whereby utilities had to come up with various ways to mitigate or minimize emissions from the power sources on which they relied.

7 unexpected requests on Trump's immigration reform wish list
The White House pitched Congress a 70-point immigration reform wish list on Sunday for lawmakers to consider as they work on a legislative solution to the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The majority of the reforms outlined in the proposal are ideas Trump has previously called for while campaigning for president, such as building a border wall and cutting back on legal immigration. He proposed all of these ideas as possible conditions that would have to be met in return for legislating protections for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally when they were minors.
But a few of those recommendations have never or rarely been mentioned by the Trump administration; nevertheless, they're ideas that crack down on illegal immigration and are expected to be favored by his supporters.
Here are seven unexpected asks:
1. A tougher stance on unaccompanied minors
Trump wants to better control the number of unaccompanied minors still showing up at the southwestern border by changing the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. That law requires all minors from noncontiguous countries be referred to Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement and placed in the care of a family member.
The administration wants all unaccompanied minors treated the same way the U.S. currently treats Mexicans and Canadians. Instead of being parolled into the country, unaccompanied minors from all countries would be screened within 48 hours of apprehension and returned if they were not trafficked, had not credible fear of returning, or could make a voluntary departure.
The number of unaccompanied minors being apprehended at the southwestern border has dropped significantly since January, after skyrocketing during the summer of 2014. In the first 11 months of fiscal year 2017, the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection agency reported 38,495 unaccompanied minors and 71,445 family units arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.

HIV patients in California who expose others to disease will no longer face felony charges
California’s governor, Jerry Brown, on Friday signed a law that lowers the penalty for exposing partners to HIV from a felony to a misdemeanor, which includes those who donate blood without informing the center about their HIV status.
“Today California took a major step toward treating HIV as a public health issue, instead of treating people living with HIV as criminals,” Sen. Scott Wiener, D.- San Francisco, told The Los Angeles Times.

Beware of Tax Reform
President Trump and the congressional Republican leadership recently unveiled a tax reform “framework.” The framework has a number of provisions that will lower taxes on middle-class Americans. For example, the framework doubles the standard deduction and increases the child care tax credit. It also eliminates the alternative minimum tax (AMT). Created in the 1960s, the AMT was designed to ensure the “wealthy” did not use “loopholes” to “get out of” paying taxes. Today the AMT is mostly a means to increase taxes on the middle class.
The framework eliminates the “death tax,” thus enabling family-owned small businesses and farms to remain family owned. It also helps the economy by lowering the corporate tax rate to 20 percent, reducing taxes on small businesses. The framework also adopts a territorial tax system, which means US companies would only pay tax on profits earned in the United States.
However, the framework is far from a total victory for liberty. Concerns have been raised that, depending on what income levels are assigned to what tax brackets, the plan could increase taxes on many middle- and lower-income Americans! This is largely due to the framework’s elimination of most tax deductions.
The framework also contains a stealth tax increase imposed via the chained consumer price index (chained CPI). Supporters of chained CPI clam the government is currently overstating inflation. The truth is exactly the opposite: government statistics are manipulated to understate inflation.

NSSF Issues Statement On Bump-Fire Stocks And Las Vegas
Now is the time when every group that deals with guns will issue their statements regarding not just guns in general, but bump-fire stocks in particular. The National Shooting Sports Foundation is no different. Earlier today, the group issued their own statement following those issued by groups like the NRA and Gun Owners of America.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of all those killed and injured in the criminal attack in Las Vegas. The manufacture, distribution and sale of automatic firearms and their components has been stringently regulated by federal laws since 1934. We believe the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) should interpret and enforce existing laws and regulations. We call upon ATF to conduct a prompt review and evaluation of aftermarket trigger activation devices such as bump stocks to determine whether they are lawful to install and use on a firearm under the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), or whether, if they have no function or purpose other than to convert a conventional firearm into an automatic firearm, they are regulated items under the NFA. We urge Congress to allow ATF to complete its review before considering any legislation so that any policy decisions can be informed by the facts and ATF’s analysis.

The Consent Of The Conned
Every single line item in our entire Bernie Madoff scam of a system is cooked.
My theme this week is The Great Unraveling, by which I mean the unraveling of our social-political-economic system of hierarchical, centralized power. Let's start by looking at how the basis of governance has transmogrified from consent of the governed toconsent of the conned.
In effect, our leadership leads by lying. As we know, when it gets serious, you have to lie to preserve the perquisites and power of those atop the wealth-power pyramid, and well, it's serious all the time now, so lies are the default setting of the entire status quo.

Renewable Energy Is Bigger ‘Scam’ than Bernie Madoff and Enron
The greatest scam being perpetrated against taxpayers and consumers is renewable energy, according to a new analysis published by the Australian, greater even than Ponzi, Madoff and Enron.
While sinking enormous financial resources into propping up renewable energy prospectors, national governments are providing no perceptible benefits to their citizens, writes Judith Sloan, a renowned Australian economist who has served on the Australian government’s Productivity Commission.
“With very few exceptions, governments all over the world have fallen into the trap of paying renewable energy scammers on the basis that it is necessary, at least politically, to be seen to be doing something about climate change,” Sloan writes, before providing readers with an avalanche of economic data to back up her assertion.
In Australia, more than 2 billion taxpayer dollars a year are funneled to renewable energy handlers by virtue of the operation of the renewable energy target and the associated renewable energy certificates, Sloan observes.

ABC News Chief Political Analyst Caught Pushing Fake Terrorism Claim
Statistics are apparently hard to understand if you're part of the media cartel talking about terrorism, because, as I've reported many times here at PJ Media, they keep getting it wrong.
Today's contestant is Matthew Dowd, chief political analyst at ABC News, who on Twitter yesterday made this astounding claim:
This claim, that more were killed in the Las Vegas shooting last week than by Islamic terrorists over the past decade, is flatly untrue, as I'll show you in a minute.
But when people began to push back on his false claim, he asserted it was a fact (!!!) and then repeated the claim:

Xbox 360 Controllers Save U.S. Navy Boatloads of Cash
The control panel used to operate a Virginia-class submarine’s periscope features two masts that rotate 360 degrees and high definition cameras that showcase the images picked up on large display monitors. There are a few downsides to this advanced imaging system though; the controls are awkward to use, they require hours of training to use properly, and they are extremely expensive. But the United States Navy has a cost-effective solution: replace them all with Xbox 360 controllers!
Lt. j.g. Kyle Leonard, the USS John Warner’s assistant weapons officer, recalled why Navy officials began experimenting with videogame hardware: “The Navy got together and they asked a bunch of J.O.s and junior guys, ‘What can we do to make your life better?’ and one of the things that came out is the controls for the scope," he said. "It’s kind of clunky in your hand; it’s real heavy.”
It’s great to hear that our submarine pilots will have a far easier time controlling the periscope with comfortable Xbox 360 controllers, and it’s even better when you find out that the $30 videogame controllers are replacing an unwieldly control system that costs $38,000 per unit. Not only does this save the taxpayers a boatload of money, the Xbox controller allows operators to easily learn how to handle the periscope within minutes.

A Viewer Writes: New Salisbury water bill charges
Anonymous said...
Here's the skinny:
The Bay Restoration Fee is a fee established by the State of Maryland. The County is required to collect this fee for the State. Effective 7/1/2012, the Bay Restoration Fee will increase to $15.00 per quarter charge ($60 per year) on the sewer or water bills of property owners served by public utilities.
Each residential dwelling that receives an individual sewer bill and each onsite sewage disposal system or holding tank that receives a water bill is subject to a $5.00 monthly fee.
Each user of an onsite sewage disposal system that does not receive a water bill and each user of sewage holding tank that does not receive a water bill is subject to a $60 annual fee.
NOTE: The fee for some users in Garrett County and Ocean City where the wastewater does not drain into the Chesapeake Bay or the Coastal Bay watersheds(surface or ground water) will remain at the existing fee rate of $2.50 for each residential dwelling and $30 per year per septic or holding tank.
*********************
The city only collects it and hands it to the county, which hands it to the state. The city's billing saves the county the postage and printing that would be required if it billed directly. If it were't done this way, the county would bill directly and be on the hook for thousands annually, with no reimbursement for billing by the state.

Wicomico County Announces Rural Legacy Expansion
Wicomico County Announces Rural Legacy Expansion
County Executive Bob Culver is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the Maryland Board of Public Works approved the expansion of the Quantico Creek Rural Legacy Area in Wicomico County. The Board of Public Works, which includes Governor Larry Hogan, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Treasurer Nancy Kopp, voted unanimously to approve the expansion. This expansion includes areas over the paleochannel and lands along Rewastico Creek in western Wicomico County.
Executive Culver and the County Council recommended that the Rural Legacy Area be expanded to include these environmentally sensitive and important areas which will provide additional protection measures and opportunities. This will provide landowners in these areas a voluntary financial alternative to selling lots for development.
The paleochannel is a buried riverbed estimated to store approximately seven billion gallons of water. This resource currently provides potable water for the City of Salisbury and is an important future water supply for the citizens of the City of Salisbury and Wicomico County. Because of its vast potential as a source of drinking water, additional protective measures will help to ensure that the channel is protected from contamination resulting from environmentally incompatible land uses.
The Rural Legacy Program, established by the State of Maryland in 1997, is designed to preserve large tracts of productive agricultural, forested lands, natural and cultural resources through the purchase of conservation easements. Conservation easements protect the land for future generations while allowing owners to continue to use and live on their land.

The Quantico Creek Rural Legacy Area was established locally in the year 2000 and contained 14,687 acres of land. Over 4,000 acres of land have been protected through this program. This expansion will add an additional 21,131 acres to our Rural Legacy Area for a total of 35,818 acres. Wicomico County will seek additional funding from the State of Maryland in future years that can be used for the purchase of conservation easements.
The Rural Legacy Program is a voluntary participation program. Easements are sought from willing land owners in these areas in order to protect areas vulnerable to development.

Cops Abandon Search for Lost Child to Bust Man For Weed Pipes, Then Brag About It on Facebook
The Ashley Borough Police Department received a call for help in finding a missing child. But instead of locating the missing child, when they smelled marijuana at a nearby residence, they abandoned their search and confiscated a cannabis user’s bongs and smoking devices. Good Guy with a Gun Could Have Stopped Vegas Shooter Before Mass Shooting
Following Sheriff Joe Lombardo’s October 9 announcement that Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos actually discovered Stephen Paddock six minutes before the attack began, it is only natural to wonder if Campos could have stopped the attack–had he been armed.
But The Daily Beast (TDB) reports that Campos was not armed when he discovered Paddock. Therefore, he was at Paddock’s mercy and ended up shot and wounded.
The day after the attack, Breitbart News reported Mandalay Bay’s 2012 guidelines for private security, which mandate that guards are banned from carrying “weapons of any kind.” The guidelines define weapons as “guns, knives, nightsticks, mace, pepper spray, stun guns etc.,” all of which are designated as “strictly prohibited on Mandalay Bay property.”
What if the security guard who discovered Paddock six minutes before the attack had been armed?

NRA's Chris Cox: Hillary Clinton Will Never Spend a Moment Without Armed Security
(CNSNews.com) – Chris Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, accused Hillary Clinton of “hypocrisy” for her stance on gun control and criticism of the NRA, telling “Fox News Sunday” that Clinton “will never spend a moment … without armed security” or “live in a high crime area.”
“And the truth is, Hillary Clinton ran as the most pro-gun control candidate in America, and she lost,” Cox said, “but she gets an award. She gets an award for hypocrisy, because she will never spend a moment, a breath, without armed security surrounding her for the rest of her life. She will never dial 911.

325 Chicago Shooting Victims in September; 2,961 So Far This Year
The Oct. 1 shooting massacre in Las Vegas that killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 was horrific, and terribly indicative of how much misery and evil one person can perpetrate. Similarly horrible and heartbreaking are the nearly relentless shootings -- despite tough gun laws -- in the city of Chicago.
In 2016, there were 4,368 shooting victims in the Windy City. This year, as of Monday, 2,961 people had been shot.
In just the first nine days of October, 95 people were shot.
Since May, the number of shooting victims in Chicago has decreased each month relative to last year, according to the Chicago Tribune's shooting victims database and website. However, the victim numbers are high. (The Tribune dataare for "number of victims, not shooting incidents," and this includes non-fatal and fatal shootings; the number of shooting homicides is lower than the number of shooting victims.)
As the database shows, in January 2017 there were 312 shooting victims in Chicago; in January 2016, there were 297. The chart below shows the number of victims by month for both years.

‘We Are Coming After All of Them and We Are Going to Win’
Monday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon offered a preview of what to expect from him in the lead-up to the 2018 midterm elections.
Bannon explained to host Sean Hannity he was “declaring war” on the Republican establishment and said that no incumbent was safe, adding that “just voting” was not good enough and a sense of urgency was required.
HANNITY: Is this a fair statement – is Steve Bannon declaring war on the establishment that are not for the working men and women in this country?

Clean Power Plan Repeal Will Save $33 Billion in Compliance Costs
'The war on coal is over'
Repealing the Clean Power Plan will save $33 billion in costs passed onto energy consumers, according to senior Trump administration officials.
The Environmental Protection Agency formally began the process of repealing the Obama era rules on limiting carbon emissions of power plants on Tuesday, with Administrator Scott Pruitt declaring the "war on coal is over."
The EPA entered a Notice of Proposed Rule-making into the Federal Register and will be open 60 days for public comment.
White House officials said repealing the regulations, which set strict emission standards for coal-burning power plants, was following through on President Donald Trump's promises to protect the coal industry.

State Supreme Court Rules Having Sex With Minors is Legal But Sexting Them is Illegal
Sexting minors is illegal, but having sex with them is okay, an Indiana Supreme Court has ruled.
Indiana high school teacher Sameer Thakar faces three years in prison for sending nude photographs to a 16-year old girl after the Supreme Court ruled earlier this week to reverse a lower court’s decision to throw out the case.
Thakar began texting the teenager in 2014, when he was 38. After a short period in which the girl told him she was underage, he then sent her images of his erect penis, court documents reveal.

Assange Warns About Vegas Shooting: ‘Almost All Terror Plots are Created by the FBI’
Julian Assange noted that the FBI's business model is to stage terror plots so they can swoop in and save the day by foiling the plot they created.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange weighed in on last Sunday night’s deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas, and he pointed out that the FBI has a sordid history of targeting mentally ill and emotionally unstable individuals.
“Almost all ‘terror’ plots are created by the FBI as part of its business model,” Assange wrote.
Arguably one of the world’s most respected journalists, whom members of the federal government want to label a spy, Assange linked his comments to a Business Insider story written by Caroline Simone titled, “The FBI is ‘manufacturing terrorism cases’ on a greater scale than ever before.” Simone wrote an echo piece from the New York Times which indicated that 67% of terrorism criminal cases also involved evidence provided by undercover FBI agents.

Newly Passed Law Will Jail Parents if Their Kids are Caught Bullying
New York passes an anti-bullying law that will fine and jail parents if their child is caught bullying another minor.
North Tonawanda, NY — As Americans continue to become more and more dependent upon the state to manage their daily lives, a new law that was just approved in New York epitomizes this irresponsible and outright complacent practice.
On Oct 1., a new law went into effect that will jail parents if their child is found bullying other minors.
According to WBNG:
Members of the North Tonawanda Common Council hope the new law will put a stop to bullying by holding parents accountable for their children’s actions. Parents could be fined $250 and sentenced to 15 days in jail if twice in a 90-day period their child under 18 violates the city’s curfew or any other city law, including bullying.
North Tonawanda officials say the law is geared toward minors who repeatedly bully other children in public places.
This law comes after four teens were reportedly kicked out of North Tonawanda Middle School for alleged bullying.

Anger over Irish decision to honor “mass murderer” Che Guevara with stamp
Cuban American journalist asks why “a man who went to Cuba to kill and failed in everything he did” is honored
A Cuban-American radio host and Irish politicians have called on An Post, Ireland’s postal service, to explain their decision to launch a €1 stamp featuring a portrait of Che Guevara by Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick.
Ninoska Perez Castellón, a prominent member of the Cuban exile community in Miami and radio host, told RTE’s "Morning Ireland" show, the stamp honoring Che Guevara would “celebrate a man who slaughtered so many people.”

Mike Ditka sounds off on anthem protests: ‘Go to another country’
Mike Ditka may want to stick to football after his most recent interview.
The legendary Bears coach, who was a guest of NBC’s Jim Gray during the Bears-Vikings game on “Monday Night Football,” was asked little about Chicago rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky but instead weighed in on anthem protests going in the NFL.
Ditka isn’t a fan and doesn’t see a reason for them either.
“There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of,” Ditka said. “Now maybe I’m not watching it as carefully as other people. I think the opportunity is there for everybody — race, religion, creed, color, nationality. If you want to work, if you want to try, if you want to put effort in, you can accomplish anything.”

Twitter Allows Abortion Ads, Blocks Pro-Life Messages as ‘Inflammatory,’ ‘Offensive’
Twitter has blocked Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s Senate campaign ad that praises her work as chairwoman of the House Select Panel investigating fetal tissue trafficking, yet it continues to allow Planned Parenthood to advertise abortion.
As Breitbart News is reporting, Blackburn, who is running for the U.S. Senate seat of retiring Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, states in her ad that she “stopped the sale of baby body parts,” a reference to the fact that she chaired the House panel.
According to the Associated Press, a Twitter representative told Blackburn’s vendors the statement was “deemed an inflammatory statement that is likely to evoke a strong negative reaction.”
Twitter reportedly said the Blackburn campaign would have to remove the statement if they wished the video to run in the ad.
In late December of 2016, the House Select Panel made 15 criminal and regulatory referrals of abortion clinics and fetal tissue procurement companies to federal, state, and local authorities for further investigation into possible violations of the law. The referrals were made following the release of undercover videos that exposed the alleged profiteering of Planned Parenthood and its partners in the biomedical procurement industry from the sale of the body parts of aborted babies.
In June, Breitbart News reported Twitter was allowing abortion chain Planned Parenthood to advertise abortion on its platform while it also suppressed pro-life organization Live Action’s ads, referring to its pro-life messages and photos of ultrasounds of babies in the womb as “offensive” and “inflammatory.”

Obama's (Un)Clean Power Plan Up in Smoke
Trump continues a very good pattern of undoing his predecessor's legacy of economic destruction.
Donald Trump’s administration is poised to take down another regulation that was hailed by leftists as part of Barack Obama’s legacy. Obama’s Clean Power Plan (CPP) is the target this time, and when it is repealed in its entirety — and not replaced — it will be another huge win for America.
This isn’t just any regulation, either. Recall that the Clean Power Plan was Obama’s signature edict — a far-reaching effort to allegedly curb greenhouse gas emissions as part of his war against climate change. This plan directed every state to develop detailed plans to reduce CO2emissions, primarily from coal-fired plants, with the intended outcome of cutting carbon pollution by one-third from 2005 levels by 2030.
Fortunately, the CPP never made it very far after 27 states vowed to go fight it, which ultimately led to the Supreme Court blocking its implementation. Unfortunately, with Trump’s EPA announcing repeal of the CPP, there will likely be more legal challenges ahead — this time from the Left.

'Massive' data transfers from Wasserman-Schultz aide a 'substantial security threat'
A Republican lawmaker on Tuesday described the “massive” data transfers on government servers by a former IT aide to Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz as “a substantial security threat.”
“These facts, standing alone, indicate a substantial security threat,” Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Scott Perry said of the Imran Awan case during an informal hearing of Republican House members on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.
Awan pleaded not guilty in September to multiple federal charges including bank fraud and conspiracy. A grand jury had returned an indictment in August in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia charging Imran Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, with a total of four charges.
Perry, a member of the Homeland Security subcommittee on cyber security, said Tuesday that the House Office of Inspector General tracked the network usage of Awan and his associates on House servers and found that a “massive” amount of data was flowing from the networks.
Awan and other IT aides for House Democrats had been on investigators’ radar for months over concerns of possible double-billing, alleged equipment theft and access to sensitive computer systems. Most lawmakers fired Awan in February, but Wasserman Schultz had kept him on until his arrest in July.

Trump demands an end to tax breaks for the NFL
President Trump devoted half of his early morning tweets to sports, as he again went after the National Football League and tore into suspended ESPN anchor Jemele Hall, who has branded him a racist.
'Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country? Change tax law!' the president first wrote.
The president then used Twitter to dabble into health care and immigration policy before calling out Hill, who was suspended Monday for two weeks for firing off more controversial tweets, this time about the NFL's national anthem protests.
'With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have "tanked,"' the president wrote. 'In fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!'
After the administration's beef with the NFL had quieted down for several days, Vice President Pence brought it back to roar Sunday by briefly appearing at an Indianapolis Colts game, saying he was there to see former quarterback Peyton Manning honored.

NFL Chief Goodell Flip-Flops: "We Believe Everyone Should Stand For The Anthem"
Update: Perhaps the most stunning aspect of all of this is the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has now issued a statement completely flip-flopping on his previous attack of the president's demands for players to stand during the national anthem.
Here is Goodell on 9/23:
"The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture... Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players."
And now today, via The Hill, Goodell decides that "everyone should stand for the national anthem."
Goodell said the controversy over NFL players kneeling in protest during the anthem “is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.”
“Like many of our fans we believe that everyone should stand for the National Anthem. It is an important moment in our game. We want to honor our flag and our country, and our fans expect that of us," Goodell added in his statement.
“We also care deeply about our players and respect their opinions and concerns about critical social issues. The controversy over the anthem is a barrier to having honest conversations and making real progress on the underlying issues. We need to move past this controversy, and we want to do that together with our players."

Rep. Harris: The Trump Administration is Leading By Example on Religious Freedom
WASHINGTON, DC: On October 6, the Department of Justice issued guidance for federal agencies and executive departments to ensure the protection of the American people’s First Amendment right to the freedom of religion. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) released the following statement in support of this guidance:
“The Trump Administration is leading by example on the issue of protecting the freedom of religion. I applaud President Trump and Attorney General Sessions’ commitment to protecting religious liberty. The free exercise of religion is a principle that our nation was founded on, and President Trump is keeping his promise to protect that freedom. I hope that this will end the offensive, coercive behavior of the federal government toward those with deeply held religious beliefs, such as the Little Sisters for the Poor, that was so rampant under the last administration.”

Chinese Curio Shop
A tourist walked into a Chinese curio shop in San Francisco. While looking around at the exotic merchandise, he noticed a very lifelike, life-sized, bronze statue of a rat. It had no price tag, but was so incredibly striking the tourist decided he must have it. He took it to the old shop owner and asked, "How much for the bronze rat?”
"Ahhh, you have chosen wisely! It is $12 for the rat and $100 for the story," said the wise old man.
The tourist quickly pulled out twelve dollars. “I'll just take the rat, you can keep the story".
As he walked down the street carrying his bronze rat, the tourist noticed that a few real rats had crawled out of the alleys and sewers and had begun following him down the street. This was a bit disconcerting so he began walking faster.
A couple blocks later he looked behind him and saw to his horror the herd of rats behind him had grown to hundreds, and they began squealing.
Sweating now, the tourist began to trot toward San Francisco Bay .
Again, after a couple blocks, he looked around only to discover that the rats now numbered in the MILLIONS, and were squealing and coming toward him faster and faster.
Terrified, he ran to the edge of the Bay and threw the bronze rat as far as he could into the Bay.
Amazingly, the millions of rats all jumped into the Bay after the bronze rat and were all drowned.
The man walked back to the curio shop in Chinatown. "Ahhh," said the owner, "You come back for story ?"
"No sir," said the man, "I came back to see if you have a bronze Democrat

Complete and Finished
No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words. In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.
The final question was: 'How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand? Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.
Here is his astute answer:
“When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED. And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!”
He won a trip around the world and a case of 25 year old Scotch!

Governor Larry Hogan, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford Highlight Disability Employment
Governor Declares Disability Employment Awareness Month, Creates State Accessibility Coordinator
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today signed Executive Order 01.01.2017.23 declaring October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Maryland. The month will be used to highlight the immense contributions made by workers with disabilities and the increased economic strength gained through an inclusive workforce. To highlight this newly designated month, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford today presented citations to several employers who have a history of hiring an inclusive workforce, including those with disabilities.
“Disability Employment Awareness Month is an opportunity to create greater recognition of the skills people with disabilities bring to employers and highlight efforts to expand employment opportunities for all Marylanders,” said Lt. Governor Rutherford. “Businesses and employers who value an inclusive workforce benefit from this practice and, in turn, create a more resilient and innovative economic climate in Maryland.”
Under the executive order, the Maryland Department of Disabilities will initiate a public awareness campaign and partner with local jurisdictions to further strengthen this vital workforce. Additionally, the campaign will provide information to potential employers on the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities.
The executive order also establishes an accessibility coordinator within state government. The accessibility coordinator will provide technical assistance to ensure state agency communication efforts adhere to accessibility best practices in an efficient and cost effective manner. This technical assistance will also allow state government to continue as a model employer for those with disabilities and offer support for Maryland businesses hoping to strengthen their communication accessibility.
“We know that an inclusive workforce is a strong workforce,” said Department of Disabilities Secretary Carol A. Beatty. “I am very proud Maryland is able to highlight the importance of a business community which reflects the diversity of our state and support those with disabilities as they seek and retain successful employment. I am grateful to Governor Hogan for acknowledging the need for more attention to this very important issue affecting the disability community and for planning effective action that will lead to increased employment opportunities, benefiting our economy and ultimately all Marylanders.”
