Troopers Investigate Serious Motor Vehicle Crash-Middletown
Middletown, DE – The Delaware State Police is currently investigating a serious crash with multiple vehicles that occurred east of Middletown.
The preliminary investigation revealed the crash occurred around 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, on SR 1 southbound south of SR 299, Middletown. It was reported that a passenger vehicle (red Chrysler 200) was traveling in a reckless manner while driving northbound on SR 1 and had cut off another vehicle (Honda CRV) which was also traveling northbound on SR 1. After the Chrysler cut off the Honda CRV, the Honda CRV swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid striking the rear bumper of the Chrysler. The Chrysler applied its brakes to decrease speed for traffic ahead. Once the Honda CRV swerved to the right in order to change lanes, the front passenger side struck the driver side of another vehicle (Chevrolet Cobalt) which was in the right lane of travel. This action caused both vehicles to swerve left across the grass center median and into the left lane of southbound SR 1. Once both vehicles entered the southbound lanes, the front bumper of the (Chevrolet Cobalt) struck the driver side of a (Mercury Milan) causing it to spin in a clockwise direction. It was at this time the Honda CRV struck the driver side of an (Old Dominion Freight Liner Tractor Trailer) with two trailers attached carrying non-perishable food. The impact from the Honda CRV caused tractor trailer to jackknife, which in turn caused the second trailer to overturn.
Daniel Murray III, 21 of Aston, PA, operator of the Honda CRV was removed from the scene and transported to the Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Michael Gonzales-Romero, 17 of Newark, operator of the Chevrolet Cobalt was removed from the scene and transported to the Middletown Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sex Robots Sweeping the US – Should They Be Banned?
Earlier this month, the Netherlands-based think tank Foundation for Responsible Robots published a report entitled “Our Sexual Future with Robots.”
Maybe not our, since the robo-sex craze does not appear to be a group activity, but it’s enough of a title to make anyone want to learn more.
To start, we here at Right Wing News had a short debate over how to tag this story, since we don’t often need to categorize anything as “RoboSexual” or “Poor Social Skills Taken To Their Logical Extreme,” but if we can talk about California Democrats, we can talk about the fact that sex robots aren’t futuristic, they’re already being built in the USA.
Only four companies are producing sex robots, and they’re all based in the United States.
Worldwide, the sex-technology market is worth a reported $30 billion,” estimated the publication Nature, which seemed slightly embarrassed to be discussing the topic, even while calling for research on human/machine “relationships,” if you can call them that.

Speed Limit Feature Now Available to Boaters on AccessDNR App
A new mobile app feature is available from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to alert boaters of speed limits and zones on state waterways.
The new service on the department’s free AccessDNR app covers the Chesapeake Bay, coastal bays west of Ocean City, Potomac River and Deep Creek Lake.
Boaters can search for speed zones by river system and zoom in to highlight an area of interest. A click on a shaded area of the map accesses the appropriate state regulation and shows the type of speed restriction governing that area. Boaters can print a map or link the app to the GPS on their vessel to track their route and signal when they are approaching a speed zone.
“Downloading and using this app raises boater awareness, enhances enjoyment and safety, and could even save boaters some money,” Boating Services Director Mark O’Malley said. “Speeding tickets carry a fine of $85. This app, in comparison, is free.”
Excessive speed and boat wakes were responsible for 56 accidents in 2016. Last year, the Maryland Natural Resources Police issued 489 speeding tickets and written warnings.
The AccessDNR app can be downloaded from the iPhone App Store or Google Play. It is the official app from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

New York Times Endorses Authoritarian Concept That Free Speech Is Violence
An absurd and alarming notion has become prevalent among militant campus snowflakes that would spell an end to freedom of speech if widely implemented. They say that being exposed to thoughts they don’t like is equivalent to physical violence. Of course, most thoughts are offensive to someone, so this only applies to thoughts deemed offensive to those at the top of the P.C. caste system, i.e., those known in leftist theology as the “marginalized”: blacks, Muslims, illegal aliens, sexual deviants — in short, anyone cultural Marxists can play off against the core population. This notion of speech as violence is now going mainstream — if the “Paper of Record” can still be regarded as mainstream. This was actually published in the New York Times:
Physical violence is physically damaging; verbal statements aren’t. “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
But scientifically speaking, it’s not that simple. Words can have a powerful effect on your nervous system. Certain types of adversity, even those involving no physical contact, can make you sick, alter your brain — even kill neurons — and shorten your life.
Your body’s immune system includes little proteins called proinflammatory cytokines that cause inflammation when you’re physically injured. Under certain conditions, however, these cytokines themselves can cause physical illness. What are those conditions? One of them is chronic stress.
Your body also contains little packets of genetic material that sit on the ends of your chromosomes. They’re called telomeres. Each time your cells divide, their telomeres get a little shorter, and when they become too short, you die. This is normal aging. But guess what else shrinks your telomeres? Chronic stress.

ICE arrests alien wanted for homicide in Guatemala
BALTIMORE – A Guatemalan man wanted for homicide and attempted homicide in his native country was arrested July 13 in Annapolis by an Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) fugitive operations team assigned to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices in Baltimore.
Guatemalan authorities recently provided the ICE attaché office in Guatemala with a warrant charging Fredy Mariony Alvarado-Calderon, a previously removed alien with multiple felony convictions in the United States, with killing or attempting to kill an individual by shooting him with a firearm on Oct. 13, 2016, in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. ICE authorities in Guatemala also obtained information related to Alvarado-Calderon’s whereabouts and his known aliases.
“Aliens escaping prosecution overseas by hiding inside the United States are key targets for enforcement action by Enforcement and Removal Operations officers,” said Dorothy Herrera-Niles, the field office director for ERO Baltimore. “The coordination between Guatemalan and U.S. law enforcement illustrates the speed with which ERO can react to arrest criminals attempting to use the United States as a safe haven.”
Alvarado-Calderon was initially encountered by U.S. Border Patrol near Laredo, Texas, on May 27, 2001. He was placed in removal proceedings, issued a final order of removal on Oct. 1, 2001, and was removed from the United States on April 26, 2007. As a fugitive alien, he was convicted of assault in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, on March 9, 2006; and convicted of two felonies in New Jersey on July 28, 2006, before being apprehended by ERO officers in New Jersey.
That Drug Expiration Date May Be More Myth Than Fact
The box of prescription drugs had been forgotten in a back closet of a retail pharmacy for so long that some of the pills predated the 1969 moon landing. Most were 30 to 40 years past their expiration dates — possibly toxic, probably worthless.
But to Lee Cantrell, who helps run the California Poison Control System, the cache was an opportunity to answer an enduring question about the actual shelf life of drugs: Could these drugs from the bell-bottom era still be potent?
Cantrell called Roy Gerona, a University of California, San Francisco researcher who specializes in analyzing chemicals. Gerona grew up in the Philippines and had seen people recover from sickness by taking expired drugs with no apparent ill effects.
"This was very cool," Gerona says. "Who gets the chance of analyzing drugs that have been in storage for more than 30 years?"

Sewage discharge leads to clam, oyster harvesting ban in portion of Delaware Bay
Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Shawn M. Garvin directed the Kent County wastewater treatment plant to take immediate action to correct an ongoing discharge that prompted an emergency order for the closure of recreational shellfishing.
The area affected is in the Delaware Bay north of the entrance to the Mispillion Inlet.
The emergency closure impacts only the harvest of bivalve molluscan shellfish – clams, oysters and mussels – and does not affect the legal harvest of other shellfish species such as crabs and conchs.
The order came after undertreated wastewater was discharged into the Murderkill River by the Kent County treatment plant.

Census Bureau Found No Need For LGBT Data Despite 4 Agencies Requesting It
During the Obama administration, at least four federal agencies, including the Justice Department, asked the Census Bureau to add questions about sexual orientation and gender identity to the American Community Survey, NPR has learned.
Besides the Justice Department, those agencies include the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Still, in March, the bureau concluded there was "no federal data need" to ask about sexual orientation and gender identity on the largest survey in the U.S., which is conducted with about 3.5 million households each year and is used to help distribute more than $400 billion in federal funds.
Many LGBT rights groups say accurate national data about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are critical in making sure their needs are met.
The Justice Department laid out the "legal authority supporting the necessity" for collecting that information in a spreadsheet of statutes attached to its letter to the Census Bureau dated Nov. 4, 2016.

Expose children to germs to boost immune system
As parents, we can't help fret about keeping our children clean and safe from harm.
But over-sterlising their environment may be doing them more harm than good.
Exposing youngsters to microbes widespread in the great outdoors will give them a stronger, more robust immune system.
That's according to professor Jack Gilbert, co-author of 'Dirt is Good: The Advantage of Germs for Your Child's Developing Immune System'.
Indeed, the germ expert – and parent – claims that our addiction to indoor-based, uber-clean lifestyles are weakening our children's defences against illness.
'Most parents think all germs are bad, that is not true. Most will just stimulate your immune system and make you stronger,' Prof Gilbert told The Independent.

First statewide bicycle tax in nation leaves bike-crazy Oregon riders deflated
In Oregon, a state known for its avid bicycling culture, the state Legislature’s approval of the first statewide bike tax in the nation has fallen flat with riders.
Democratic Gov. Kate Brown is expected to sign the sweeping $5.3 billion transportation package, which includes a $15 excise tax on the sale of bicycles costing more than $200 with a wheel diameter of at least 26 inches.
Even though the funding has been earmarked for improvements that will benefit cyclists, the tax has managed to irk both anti-tax Republicans and environmentally conscious bikers.
BikePortland publisher Jonathan Maus called it “an unprecedented step in the wrong direction.”
“We are taxing the healthiest, most inexpensive, most environmentally friendly, most efficient and most economically sustainable form of transportation ever devised by the human species,” Mr. Maus said.

The real crime: Collusion between media, leakers
Pat Buchanan on release of stolen secrets: 'Trump is facing a stacked deck'
For a year, the big question of Russiagate has boiled down to this: Did Donald Trump’s campaign collude with the Russians in hacking the DNC?
And until last week, the answer was “no.”
As ex-CIA director Mike Morell said in March, “On the question of the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians … there is smoke, but there is no fire, at all. … There’s no little campfire, there’s no little candle, there’s no spark.”
Well, last week, it appeared there had been a fire in Trump Tower. On June 9, 2016, Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort met with Russians – in anticipation of promised dirt on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
While not a crime, this was a blunder. For Donald Jr. had long insisted there had been no collusion with the Russians. Caught in flagrante, he went full Pinocchio for four days.

No papers, no debt: Billions in student loans may be wiped out
Billions of dollars in student loan debt may be forgiven because documents proving ownership of the loans are missing.
Creditors taking borrowers to court over loans in default are instead seeing the debt wiped out because of incomplete ownership records and other documentation, The New York Times reports.
National Collegiate Student Loan Trusts -- an umbrella name for 15 trusts that own $12 billion in private student loans -- has brought more than 800 collection cases to litigation this year alone. But it has struggled to prove ownership in court, with the loans originally made by banks being sold to investors. Without proper documentation, the loans are deemed uncollectible and a situation not unlike the last decade's subprime mortgage crisis is created.
More than $5 billion of the debt held by National Collegiate remains in default.

Trump’s Temporary Work Visa Expansion Will Boost Maryland’s Crabbing Industry, Workers Say
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — To help seasonal American businesses, the Trump administration is allowing more foreign workers into the U.S.
Alex DeMetrick reports, that’s welcome news to Maryland’s seafood industry.
It’s the height of Maryland’s crab season right now, and at J.M. Clayton Seafood Company in Cambridge, crab picking is going full throttle.
Those doing the work are from Mexico, here on temporary work visas called H-2Bs, because the company can’t find local Americans to pick crabs. Not with other opportunities available to them.
“They can learn trades, community colleges, they want to better themselves, get a 12-month job, and these seasonal seafood jobs, we just can’t offer that,” says Jack Brooks.

Germany: Infectious Diseases Spreading As Migrants Settle In
A new report by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the federal government's central institution for monitoring and preventing diseases, confirms an across-the-board increase in disease since 2015, when Germany took in an unprecedented number of migrants.
Some doctors say the actual number of cases of tuberculosis is far higher than the official figures suggest and have accused the RKI of downplaying the threat in an effort to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiments.
"Around 700,000 to 800,000 applications for asylum were submitted and 300,000 refugees have disappeared. Have they been checked?
Do they come from the high-risk countries?" - Carsten Boos, orthopedic surgeon, interview with Focus magazine.
A failed asylum seeker from Yemen who was given sanctuary at a church in northern Germany to prevent him from being deported has potentially infected more than 50 German children with a highly contagious strain of tuberculosis.
The man, who was sheltered at a church in Bünsdorf between January and May 2017, was in frequent contact with the children, some as young as three, who were attending a day care center at the facility. He was admitted to a hospital in Rendsburg in June and subsequently diagnosed with tuberculosis — a disease which only recently has reentered the German consciousness.
Local health authorities say that in addition to the children, parents and teachers as well as parishioners are also being tested for the disease, which can develop months or even years after exposure. It remains unclear if the man received the required medical exams when he first arrived in Germany, or if he is one of the hundreds of thousands of migrants who have slipped through the cracks.

Illegal drug sales increasing through darknet
BALTIMORE —Authorities said illegal drug sales are increasingly done anonymously and from the safety and comfort of a laptop computer.
The dark web is contributing to the supply of fentanyl in Maryland. A few clicks on a computer can mean drugs from anywhere in the world to a doorstep in Maryland.
"Your market is as wide as connectivity," threat intelligence analyst CW Walker said.
Many days, Walker works in a part of the internet called the dark web.

Did the British plant a bomb at the World's Fair in 1940?
It was the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that finally pushed the United States to enter World War II, but a little-known bombing at the World's Fair in New York City nearly a year-and-a-half before - which resulted in the deaths of two NYPD officers - may have laid the groundwork.
It has been suggested that the bomb may have been planted by a British spy, in an attempt to gain American support for the British cause.
NYPD Lt. Bernard Whalen has studied the World's Fair bombing extensively for two books he wrote on the history of New York's finest.

Breaking News: The Supreme Court let stand an order exempting grandparents and other relatives from the travel ban, but allowed refugee limits to stay
The Supreme Court on Wednesday temporarily allowed the Trump administration to enforce restrictions on the nation’s refugee program, but it let stand a court order from Hawaii that grandparents and other relatives who want to travel to the United States to visit family must be admitted while the case proceeds on appeal.
The justices, in a brief order, rejected the administration’s request that it clarify the scope of the their decision last month temporarily reinstating the ban but allowing people with “a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States” to enter the country. The court said the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in San Francisco, should address the question.
Uber Discriminates Against Riders With Disabilities, Suit Says
All around Valerie Joseph, there is a fleet of Uber cars rolling by on New York City streets.
But though she could really use the ride-hailing app, Ms. Joseph said she does not bother because Uber has so few wheelchair-accessible cars to dispatch. “It’s plain unfair,” said Ms. Joseph, 41, who relies on a wheelchair.
Now, Ms. Joseph is part of a class-action lawsuit accusing Uber of discriminating against New York City riders with disabilities by providing scant access to wheelchair-accessible cars at a time when ride-hailing apps are becoming a common alternative to public transit in the city. The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in State Supreme Court in Manhattan by Disability Rights Advocates, a nonprofit organization.

How "Nothing To Hide" Leads To "Nowhere To Hide" – Why Privacy Matters In An Age Of Tech Totalitarianism
Would you allow a government official into your bedroom on your honeymoon? Or let your mother-in-law hear and record every conversation that takes place in your home or car – especially disagreements with your husband or wife? Would you let a stranger sit in on your children’s playdates so that he could better understand how to entice them with candy or a doll?
Guess what? If you bring your phone with you everywhere, or engage with a whole-house robo helper such as Alexa or Echo or Siri or Google, you’re opening up every aspect of your life to government officials, snooping (possibly criminal) hackers, and advertisers targeting you, your spouse and your children.
The following is not a screed against technology. But it is a plea to consider what we’re giving up when we hand over privacy, wholesale, to people whom we can neither see nor hear... people whose motives we cannot fathom.
The widened lanes of communication, and the conveniences that Smart Phones, wireless communities, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have fomented are indeed helpful to some extent. They allow, for example, for remote working, which allows people to spend more time with their families and less time commuting. In areas such as the energy business, the field of predictive analytics, born of Big Data and the Industrial Internet, helps mitigate the danger of sending humans to oil rigs at sea.
And on a personal level, of course, the conveniences are innumerable: Grandparents living far away can “see” their grandchildren more often than they could in years past, thanks to technology such as FaceTime and Skype.
People save money: As you walk by a restaurant, a lunch coupon suddenly appears on your phone.

Is Your State Financially Screwed?
George Mason University’s Mercatus Center just released their annual “Ranking of States by Financial Condition” report.
The report provides all Americans a chance to see how their respective state ranks in terms of financial condition.1
But as I’m about to show you, the report reveals more than that. More specifically, it reveals something you might want to consider next time you step into the voting booth…
When analyzing the results of the George Mason study, the difference in financial condition of blue and red states is not subtle. The chart that I’m about to show you captures the cash solvency of each state makes the difference shockingly clear.
Cash solvency is the ability to meet bills that are due in the next 30 to 60 days.
In other words, which states can each state meet its short term debt obligations?

When analyzing the results of the George Mason study, the difference in financial condition of blue and red states is not subtle. The chart that I’m about to show you captures the cash solvency of each state makes the difference shockingly clear.
Cash solvency is the ability to meet bills that are due in the next 30 to 60 days.
In other words, which states can each state meet its short term debt obligations?

Melting glacier reveals bodies of couple who disappeared 75 years ago
The bodies of a Swiss couple who disappeared 75 years ago in the Alps have been found at the edge of a melting glacier, local media reported.
Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin, the parents of seven children, went to milk their cows in a meadow in the Valais canton on Aug. 15, 1942, then vanished without a trace.
“We spent our whole lives looking for them, without stopping. We thought that we could give them the funeral they deserved one day,” their youngest daughter, Marceline Udry-Dumoulin, 79, told Le Matin, a newspaper in Lausanne.
“For the funeral, I won’t wear black,” she added. “I think that white would be more appropriate. It represents hope, which I never lost.”

House Conservatives Fear Health-Care Deja Vu on Secret Tax Plan
House conservative leaders worry they’ll be forced to vote to advance a vehicle for a tax-code rewrite without knowing details of the plan, setting up a repeat of Congress’s troubled efforts on health-care legislation.
With a committee markup of a key budget resolution scheduled for Wednesday, leaders of the conservative House Freedom Caucus have demanded details about the tax package and about welfare-spending cuts that GOP leaders have agreed to in principle. But they’ve received no guarantees, and the prospects for seeing specifics ahead of a budget vote appear to be diminishing.
For Representative Jim Jordan, a co-founder of the caucus that claims 30 or so members, that’s too reminiscent of the way GOP leaders handled health care, legislation that remains up in the air seven months after Congress adopted a detail-free budget measure to kick off the process.
“The way we look at it is -- look what happened in January,” Jordan said. “We went along with a budget thinking we were going to do a repeal bill and a separate replacement legislation for Obamacare and instead we get this seven-month ordeal we’re still going through. We don’t want to make the same mistake twice.”

Dershowitz: I Don't Have 'Right Point of View' for NYT
Considered one of the great legal minds in the U.S., Alan Dershowitz forms his opinions based on rule of law — not something the liberal mainstream media is interested in these days.
The Harvard law professor, famed TV contributor and writer on issues of law says he has been shut out by The New York Times and other liberal outlets recently because his objective opinions don't fit "the narrative they're pushing" on President Donald Trump and his administration, he told the Washington Examiner.
Despite the fact that Dershowitz remains an unabashed "liberal Hillary Clinton supporter."
"It's not that I'm not credentialed," Dershowitz told the Examiner. "It's that I don't have the right point of view."
"I said that I thought the readers of The New York Times were entitled to hear or read the other side of the issue whether there were crimes committed," Dershowitz told the Examiner.
Dershowitz said he never heard back from editors at The Times.

License plate readers being installed on waste management trucks
Just when you thought there was no way another government-funded group could get in on the surveillance scheme: Enter the garbage man.
The city of Ogden, Utah, recently joined an increasingly popular program developed by trash collection behemoth Waste Management Corporation, the Waste Watch Driver Training Program.
Here’s how Waste Management Corporation’s website describes the program: “Our trucks are on your streets every day. Our drivers are familiar with their routes, so they’re often the first to notice when something is amiss. As your community partner, we assist local police and fire departments by acting as extra eyes and ears on local streets. Through our Waste Watch program, we provide training to our drivers in what to look for and how to report suspicious or criminal activity to local authorities.”

Sessions signals more police property seizures coming
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Monday that the Justice Department will make it easier for local law enforcement to seize cash and property from crime suspects and reap the proceeds.
The practice has been criticized because it allows law enforcement to take possessions — such as cars and money — without indictments or evidence a crime has been committed.
Sessions said a shift will be announced this week that will increase the use of asset forfeiture, especially for drug suspects.
"With care and professionalism, we plan to develop policies to increase forfeitures. No criminal should be allowed to keep the proceeds of their crime," Sessions told local prosecutors in Minnesota.
A change would likely represent another reversal by Sessions of Obama-era Justice Department policies. His Democratic predecessor Eric Holder had tightened control of the department's asset forfeiture operations amid concerns that property could be seized without judicial oversight and without the owner ever being charged with a crime.

Hillary sided with Russia on sanctions as Bill pocketed $500G in Moscow
The Russian lawyer who landed a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. during last year’s campaign with the promise of dirt on Hillary Clinton had one big thing in common with the Democratic candidate: Both had opposed Russia sanctions targeting human-rights abusers.
Further, former Secretary of State Clinton’s initial opposition coincided with a half-million-dollar speech her husband gave in Moscow – a link her 2016 campaign fought to downplay in the press, according to WikiLeaks-released documents.
Trump White House officials now are trying to draw attention to that speech and the Clintons’ ties to Russia in a bid to counter criticism over Trump Jr.’s now-infamous meeting.
“If you want to talk about having relationships with Russia, I'd look no further than the Clintons,” Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at a briefing last week. “Bill Clinton was paid half a million dollars to give a speech to a Russian bank, personally thanked by President Putin.”
The speech is now coming back to haunt the Clintons, considering the company that cut the check was allegedly tied to the scandal that spurred the Global Magnitsky Act, a bill that imposed sanctions on Russians designated as human-rights abusers and eventually would become law in 2012.

Fake Views: How Establishment Media Use Flawed ‘Approval Polls’ to Attack Trump
"Polls are deployed only when they might prove useful — that is, helpful to the powers that be in their question to maintain their position and influence."
— Christopher Hitchens, Harper’s Magazine, 1992
The latest rod with which to beat the President of the United States is a Washington Post/ABC News poll showing Mr. Trump’s approval ratings languishing at 36 per cent.
Americans across the board appear, on first take, to be well out of love with the new President. But the “small print” on the polls reveals something quite disturbing about the methodology of the group responsible.
The poll was performed by AbtAssociates — a swamp dweller-staffed research and policy shop in Cambridge, MA.
AbtAssociates board members include former Bob Dole, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Planned Parenthood, World Bank, and Deloitte staffers. In other words, it is a microcosm of the party of Davos.
But that in itself doesn’t rule AbtAssociates out from doing decent work. What might, however, is the underlying philosophy behind political polling, and the methodology they use to conduct it.

Lawmakers' Crime Plan Invests In Youth, Calls For New State Laws
A group of Baltimore legislators is proposing a package of new efforts to address public safety that relies heavily on new investment in youth and calls for new state laws.
A 30-page proposal gets an early start on next year's legislative session. Legislators said the problem is so urgent attention is needed now.
"This is an all-hands-on-deck moment," said Baltimore City Delegate Luke Clippinger, D-District 46.
The public safety plan proposed by the legislators of Baltimore's 46th District includes both immediate steps to address crime prevention and long-term investment to steer youth to better outcomes.
"We need a comprehensive plan to address crime and increased safety of our communities. It can't be just about the crime fight," said Baltimore City Sen. Bill Ferguson, D-District 46. "We're really out here to up the urgency. We are really frustrated. Our constituents are frustrated.

Swedish study reveals benefits of a Nordic diet
Vikings may be best known for marauding and pillaging but there is one Nordic behaviour that is worth copying.
Sticking to a traditional Nordic diet can support brain health in old age and could help fight off dementia.
The diet is high in fish, non-root vegetables, fruit, rice and chicken, washed down with plenty of water and tea.
In good news for drinkers, the diet also includes a light to moderate consumption of wine.

Suspect Enters Church and Demands Money; Gets Bullet Instead
Police in Dothan, Alabama, say a suspect entered a church Sunday night and demanded money–but received a bullet “in the upper torso” instead.
The suspect was pronounced dead early Monday morning.
According to the Dothan Eagle, Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish described a scene where “two church employees” were in Crossroads Baptist Church at the time the suspect, Steffon Parreese Valentez Tolver, approached. A third church employee “had left the premises to run an errand, and arrived back after [Tolver] had entered into the church.”
Parrish says Tolver allegedly entered through the back door of the church and robbed one of the three people of $50. He was demanding money from a second individual when he was shot with a “personal handgun.” Tolver fled the scene, only to collapse outside the building. He was pronounced dead just before 1:20 a.m. Monday morning.

FLASHBACK: Most Explosive Case of Foreign Meddling in U.S. Election History Linked to Clintons
Despite still no evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump or his campaign and Russians in the 2016 election, one of the most serious cases of foreign intervention in a U.S. election actually occurred on behalf of the Clintons.
Not for Hillary Rodham Clinton, the failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, but Bill Clinton–her husband, and the former U.S. president. The mention of the name James Riady recalls what is easily the most serious case of foreign meddling in American politics, something that linked Clinton himself right into the mess connecting him shoulders-deep to Chinese Communists.
Riady is an Indonesian billionaire with deep connection to China’s Communist Party and who sought to normalize relations with Vietnam was almost single-handedly responsible for the Clinton family’s most significant financial boost in their political careers.
It was the mother of all foreign interference stories and always lurking in the shadows was the hand of the Communist government in China.
Their bond gains significance in the current news cycle because of the clear, illicit fiscal ties between the two, compared to the lack of evidence in the Russia story.
In fact, nothing brought up in connection to the charges of Russian interference compares to the wrongdoing the ringleader James Riady confessed to.
Riady ran the most serious case of campaign finance fraud in the history of the United States and foreign meddling in American politics.

Hogan Joins Group Of Governors Urging Bipartisan Health Care Solution
Gov. Larry Hogan joined a bipartisan group of 11 governors asking Congress to abandon efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
"Congress should work to make health insurance more affordable by controlling costs and stabilizing the market, and we are pleased to see a growing number of senators stand up for this approach. The Senate should immediately reject efforts to 'repeal' the current system and replace sometime later. This could leave millions of Americans without coverage," the governors said in a statement.
"The best next step is for both parties to come together and do what we can all agree on: fix our unstable insurance markets. Going forward, it is critically important that governors are brought to the table to provide input, and we stand ready to work with lawmakers in an open, bipartisan way to provide better insurance for all Americans."

OUT Magazine Encourages Readers to ‘Drop’ Gay Republican Friends
OUT Magazine has encouraged its readers to “drop” gay conservative friends in a new article titled, “What To Do When Your Friend’s a Gay Republican.”
“We drop friends all the time for a whole variety of reasons—they messed with our loves lives, they lied, they weren’t supportive—so why do some people think it’s such an outlandish idea to dump them for their political views?” asked actor, singer, and writer Michael Musto in his column for OUT Magazine, which featured a picture of former Breitbart Senior Editor Milo Yiannopoulos. “I think there’s a misguided sense that, ‘It’s a free country and people have the right to believe what they want. Why should I let their political opinions interfere with a long-running friendship?'”
“The truth is, there is no law that ‘free speech’ means you have to keep a friend who promotes the Republican agenda any more than you have to keep someone who calls you a cow,” Musto continued. “Everything in a friendship that might have seemed good suddenly goes sour when I learn that they advocate Trump and his hideousness, which involves attempting to diminish rights for women, LGBTQs, Muslims, immigrants, the arts, and the non-rich, not to mention all those treasonous-sounding doings with Russia.”

GINGRICH: Boost economy with ‘very large’ tax cut — or ‘real danger of Speaker Pelosi’
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich issued a dire warning to Republicans on Monday: Improve the economy or face cataclysmic losses in 2018.
“They have got to pass by Thanksgiving, and get signed into law, by Thanksgiving, a very large tax cut, retroactively designed back to January 1 to make sure that we have enough economic growth in 2018. That Republicans can run as the party of prosperity, of jobs, of higher take home pay, and of economic growth,” Gingrich said.
He said the “highest focus” should be getting the tax bill passed.
“If we don’t have economic growth next year, I think we’re in real danger of having Speaker Nancy Pelosi in 2019,” Gingrich said.

House Unveils Budget That Balances, Achieves $9 Billion Surplus, Increases GDP to 2.6%
The House Budget Committee unveiled its Building A Better America 2018 budget Tuesday, which is balanced and achieves a $9 billion surplus in 10 years and increases GDP growth to 2.6 percent.
"Our budget is one of sustainability, smaller government, stronger national security, and greater freedom for individuals," the committee states. "The status quo is unsustainable spending, higher deficits and debt, higher taxes, bigger government, and more federal control over the lives of Americans."
The budget not only balances within a decade, but aims to increase economic growth by implementing tax reform and reducing government regulations, as well as reforming several government programs to ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and appropriately.
The committee notes that under the Obama administration, federal spending grew at a rate that increased the debt to unprecedented levels. They found that if spending continued along this path, in the next 10 years there would be $9.4 trillion more added to the debt. Instead, the House is introducing a budget that reins in this spending and puts the government on a path that will balance in the next decade in order to pay down debt.
"Overall, our budget achieves $6.5 trillion in deficit reduction, resulting in a $9 billion surplus in 2027," the committee said. "We do not do this simply by cutting spending and reducing the size of government..

Professors Want Academia To Stop Citing Straight White Men
If you're writing an academic paper on any given subject, you need to do your research and get your facts straight. No, I don't mean about the topic you're writing about. You see, you're not a good academic if you don't discover who the authors referenced in your footnotes like to sleep with.
Think I'm making this up? I wish:
Geographers Carrie Mott and Daniel Cockayne argued in a recent paper that [citing the work of straight, white men] perpetuates what they call “white heteromasculinism,” which they defined as a “system of oppression” that benefits only those who are “white, male, able-bodied, economically privileged, heterosexual, and cisgendered.” (Cisgendered describes people whose gender identity matches their birth sex.)
Mott, a professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey, and Cockayne, who teaches at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, argued that scholars or researchers disproportionately cite the work of white men, thereby unfairly adding credence to the body of knowledge they offer while ignoring the voices of other groups, like women and black male academics. Although citation seems like a mundane practice, the feminist professors argue that citing someone's work has implications on his or her ability to be hired, get promoted and obtain tenured status, among others.
“This important research has drawn direct attention to the continued underrepresentation and marginalization of women, people of color. … To cite narrowly, to only cite white men … or to only cite established scholars, does a disservice not only to researchers and writers who are othered by white heteromasculinism …," they wrote in the paper published recently in the journal Gender, Place and Culture.
These two individuals actually want people to count up their citations, and then to calculate if "too many" reference white men who like women.

Sabotage: Dr. Ben Carson Only Senate-confirmed person in HUD building…
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Dr. Ben Carson joined SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Tuesday’s Breitbart News Daily to talk about healthcare reform and his accomplishments at HUD.
Marlow began by asking for Dr. Carson’s take on the state of healthcare reform, as the Senate compromise bill collapses and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell talks about holding a straight repeal vote.
“First of all, I would say health care is about the most important thing a person can have,” Carson began. “We need to take it out of the political arena and stop looking for a quick fix. There are no quick fixes. Obamacare was a quick fix, and you see what a disaster that was.”
“We really need to stop and think out of the box, maybe a little bit,” he urged. “Think about, what is health care? What was the whole purpose of health insurance? In the beginning, it was so that you didn’t lose the farm if something happened to you of a catastrophic nature. Now we’ve allowed it to metastasize into this gigantic conglomerate where we want everything covered, including a hangnail. That has provided the opportunity for a lot of manipulation and complication that doesn’t need to be there.”
“We need to go back and think about how do we fix this in a way that makes sense for everybody,” he advised.
Carson said “personal responsibility” is a key component of his reform recommendations, along with “returning care to the hands of the patient and the healthcare provider.”
Carson noted he was currently “the only Senate-confirmed person in the HUD building.”
“I fantasize about the whole concept of having some assistant secretaries and a deputy secretary,” he said wistfully. “I’m sure they’ll come someday. In the meantime, we’re not letting that stop us. We’ll continue to focus on what needs to be done to eliminate homelessness and to put people on the pathway to success in life.”

Paperwork Missing, Student Loans may be Wiped Away
Tens of thousands of people who took out private loans to pay for college but have not been able to keep up payments may get their debts wiped away because critical paperwork is missing.
The troubled loans, which total at least $5 billion, are at the center of a protracted legal dispute between the student borrowers and a group of creditors who have aggressively pursued them in court after they fell behind on payments.
Judges have already dismissed dozens of lawsuits against former students, essentially wiping out their debt, because documents proving who owns the loans are missing. A review of court records by The New York Times shows that many other collection cases are deeply flawed, with incomplete ownership records and mass-produced documentation.

OF COURSE: Joe Biden’s Niece Gets NO JAIL TIME For $100K Credit Card Scam
The New York Post reported:
Joe Biden’s niece dodges jail after $100K credit card scam
The wild-child niece of former Veep Joe Biden stole more than $100,000 in a credit card scam — and quietly cut a plea deal in Manhattan court that spares her any jail time, The Post has learned.
Using a borrowed credit card, the blonde Caroline Biden set up an unauthorized customer account at Bigelow Pharmacy on Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, and racked up the six-figure bill over the course of a year, according to a criminal complaint that does not name the victim card owner.

Hungary Continues Fight Against Soros
After a two-year battle to keep migrants out of the country, Hungary has directed its full attention toward one of its own: billionaire investor George Soros.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrapped up a six-week anti-Soros campaign Saturday. The streets of Budapest have been filled with posters and billboards of the Hungarian-born billionaire with the caption “Don’t let Soros get the last laugh!”
The campaign follows a series of moves to halt Soros’ operations in the country. The government argues that Soros is pushing for a one million migrant influx to Europe per year. It is now trying to impose legislation that would force NGOs in the country to reveal where their funding originates and the purpose for which the money was received.
“In Hungarian public life there is a single important element which is not transparent: Soros’s mafia-style network and its agent organizations,” Orban’s spokesman Zoltan Kovacs told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “This is why the government insisted that [the] parliament decide on making these organizations transparent, as the Hungarian people have the right to know who represents what and for what purpose.”
