(OCEAN CITY, MD) — At the request of the Ocean City Police Department, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is conducting an investigation into the death early today of a suspect who had been arrested on drug charges and who later died at a hospital after exhibiting symptoms while being processed at the police station.
The deceased is identified as Jerry L. Weston, 37, of Greenwood, DE. He was pronounced dead at Atlantic General Hospital shortly after 3:30 a.m. today.
Weston had been arrested along with two others by the Ocean City Police Department on felony drug charges early this morning. During his processing at the Ocean City Police Department, he began exhibiting signs of physical distress. The preliminary investigation indicates emergency care was provided and emergency medical personnel were summoned to the police department. Investigators have learned Weston told those treating him he had ingested cocaine.
Weston’s body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. An autopsy is scheduled there tomorrow to determine the cause and manner of death.
Maryland State Police investigators are interviewing police and medical personnel involved with the arrest, transport and medical treatment of Weston. The investigation is continuing.
Please refer to the Ocean City Police Department news release issued earlier today for information surrounding the arrest of Weston and two others. No further information about the investigation is able to be provided by the Maryland State Police at this time.

GOVERNOR ORDERS STATE FLAG TO HALF STAFF IN HONOR OF FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the state flag to be lowered to half-staff in honor of former Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley, who passed away on Aug. 6.
Hogan has also released the following statement:
“The First Lady and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley, one of Maryland’s most dedicated and respected leaders. She was a friend and I had come to value her wise counsel over the years. During a recent visit with her, I was inspired to see that the same spirit and determination that defined both her public and personal life was still very much present right up to the end.
“Congresswoman Bentley worked with tenacity, energy, and passion on behalf of her constituents, making her a rare breed in politics and a role model to public servants across Maryland. She was a trailblazer for women in media and government, a longtime champion for manufacturing, maritime issues, and the Port of Baltimore which proudly bears her name as an everlasting tribute to her achievements.
“Our deepest sympathies are with her family and friends as the First Lady and I, along with countless Marylanders, mourn the loss of a true leader for our great state. The legacy of Congresswoman Bentley will not soon be forgotten. We owe her a debt of gratitude for a lifetime of service on behalf of the state of Maryland. She will be missed.”

BREAKING NEWS: BLACK LIVES MATTER EXPECTED TO PROTEST IN OCEAN CITY TONIGHT
You heard me right. We have received notice by TWO reliable sources the Black Lives Matter group is planning a protest at 6:00 PM tonight at the White Marlin Marina.
It seems after the local media stirred up such a big deal on the tee shirts, (perhaps taken from the White Marlin Matters tee shirts) has stirred the pot.
We have been informed the word is now spreading like a wild fire in Ocean City and some businesses are considering closing their doors and employees are already leaving work as they do not want to be in the middle of what might become of this protest.
Unfortunately, (should they follow through) more to come... UNBELIEVABLE! KILL WHITEY UPDATE: Joe several large groups of bikers started showing up a little after noon hour in OC.. Not the.. I'm a lawyer with a harley... but the.. I will split your skull with a pipe.

Lets beg for money in front of a no solicitation sign......
In my opinion, if your child does sports in high school and they need money to travel, you as a parent should be footing the bill.
I do not know why parents feel it appropriate to teach children that it is everyone's responsibility to support their hobby.
But from this photo these are not our brightest.
Who in heavens name thought begging in front of the home depot intersection was a smart move?
These simpletons even had their children begging in the median on route 13 in front of Walmart!
Didn't they remove the druggie from begging there because it was illegal but these people can do it?
Your hobby is your financial responsibility.
The only thing you accomplished was creating a hazardous situation, to beg for money.
Sad.

Marina's 'White (Marlin) Lives Matter' shirts upsets NAACP
An Ocean City marina is selling T-shirts featuring the phrases "White Lives Matter" and "Blue Lives Matter" to spread awareness - about the conservation of white and blue marlins.
The NAACP is not pleased about this.
White Marlin Marina worker George Lamplugh, who designed the shirts, says he means no offense, and that fishermen know a good joke when they see one.

Today's Racism: Who's Really to Blame?
By Thornton Crowe
Lately, with all Black Lives Matter activities coming to the forefront, there has been many conversations here on Salisbury News about racism -- promoted by the lynch drawing at SU and the group beating of a white PHS student along with BLM invasion on OC's boardwalk.
Racism is now front and center in our minds and no topic on this blog goes unscathed without some comment that's racially based. Salisbury is only a indication of what's going on in every community throughout America. Obama's divisive rhetoric has poisoned the wells not just in urban areas but small towns as well.
David Horowitz, a former Civil Rights activist during the King era, makes many startling claims in his book, Progressive Racism, which boils down what's really doing on in America today -- the racial turmoil. And, his fact-based conclusion may surprise many.
Using examples based in actual history, the majority of blame for racism in America today is Black Americans and the Liberals (Progressives). The Democrats, under the guise of social justice, are merely using the Black community in order to paint their opponents as racists because of historic taboo implications. However, with the gross overuse of the word, it's gotten to the point where it simply doesn't really mean anything, anymore.
Unfortunately, especially in this election, being called a racist merely means you don't agree with another person's point of view. No longer does it mean anyone actually holds some deep-seated hatred for another race or religion. For example, by sheer virtue, I am a racist. Why? Because I am white and not a Democrat. It doesn't matter that I have Black friends or that I hold no negative attitudes towards any minority group. It also doesn't matter that my academic background concentrations in the Civil Rights Movement history. Because I'm a non-Liberal white, I'm immediately a racist.
Does it bother me? It used to, but not anymore. I know the people who call me a racist are ignorant. They're belching out spoon fed lines the media talking points. Ironically, as we discovered last week, the media is in collusion with the DNC and the Clinton Campaign so that even further marginalizes their rhetoric.
Sadly, they don't seem to understand, they're the only ones name calling. Amazingly, the Black Americans whom engage in race baiting, don't seem to get the fact that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism against their ancestors that goes well beyond the recent Wikileaks revelations about the DNC/Clinton Campaign referring Hispanics as "Taco Bowls" and Black people, "Boos."
Horowitz points out the hypocritical balderdash about wanting a conversation from politicians like Hillary Clinton. In reality, this 'conversation' has always been a monologue, not a dialogue and never based in facts or statistics - only emotions.
Furthermore, these same politicians conveniently forget that no Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act in 1964. And once passed, it wasn't until President Richard Nixon (R) that segregation was outlawed in practice not just on paper.
It doesn't matter what has been done to help them or how many bars have been lowered to accommodate them, they will never be satisfied. Because their leaders won't allow them to move on. Instead they go from cradle to grave believing White America owes them something. And worse yet, the Democrats will never let them be satisfied either.
In short, Horowitz clearly demonstrates the racism is one-sided and Blacks along with Liberals are the now the ultimate racists - not Whites.
The Liberals' blatant abuse of Black America is shameless. Yet, most Black Americans continue to support them, despite the fact their hope for the American Dream has been all but severed under their leadership. Hence, his argument clearly proves the Democrat Party is the worst affliction on Black America since the days before Reconstruction. Even Malcolm X denounced them before he died, so Horowitz is far from alone in pointing out how Democrats viciously manipulate them for their own political gains and thirst for power. The politicians don't realize or care the wounds they create take decades - generations - to heal.
It's unfortunate Black America continues the Democrats' mythological hate against them because, in reality, we are all Americans -- and we're all in this together!

Rt. 50 Shut Down In Both Directions
A viewer informs us that there's been a very serious accident, (possible fatality) near WalMart/589 involving a Food Lion truck. ALL traffic has been shut down.
Even WalMart Food Products Are A Rip Off
As if it wasn't bad enough we have all watched the SIZE of the products we had been purchasing for years get smaller and smaller, (yet hold the same price, if not an increase) today we bought this package of cookies and at least 1/3 of it doesn't even have cookies in it. My thumb and top finger clearly show there's nothing underneath and no, they are not bunched up at one end. When are people going to finally get fed up with this crap?
Michael Phelps Urged To Give Up Position As Olympic Flag Bearer
The Rio Olympics have almost begun and representatives from across the globe will soon bear their country’s flag during the highly anticipated opening ceremony.
As for the United States, swimmer Michael Phelps was elected by his teammates to carry Old Glory. As the most decorated athlete in Olympic history, Phelps seemed to many like an obvious pick for the job.
“I’m honored to be chosen, proud to represent the U.S., and humbled by the significance of carrying the flag and all it stands for,” Phelps said.
Despite being the pick of his fellow teammates, some are calling on Phelps to give up the honor and instead allow the runner up to carry the flag.
Ibtihaj Muhammad, an African American, Muslim woman famous for wearing her hijab during her fencing matches, came in a close second behind Phelps as the choice for flag bearer. Muhammad has also been outspoken against Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump. “When you incite hateful speech and rhetoric like that, the people who say it never think about the repercussions and how that affects Muslims,” she told Time.

A black social worker called 911 because she was afraid of a cop. A violent arrest followed.
Nervous and distraught, Earledreka White did the only thing she thought she could to allay her fears after being stopped by a police officer in Houston: She called 911 to report the traffic stop and asked for police backup.
White’s voice was so shaky that she stuttered when trying to give the emergency dispatcher their location, a medical plaza parking lot outside the Loop 610 near downtown Houston. Next to her stood an officer with Houston’s Metro Police Department, waiting while she made the call in the doorway of her sedan.
“He’s saying I crossed over a solid line and I did not not,” White told the dispatcher. “I got out of the car to ask him what the offense was. He raised his voice at me and threatened to arrest me. So I’m really confused. And I would like another officer to come out here.

Woman Fatally Shot By Baltimore Co. Police Had History Of Anti-Government Sentiment
Baltimore County Police say the Randallstown woman killed in a standoff with officers Monday had a history of anti-government views.
Korryn Gaines, 23, engaged in an hours-long barricade after officers attempted to serve arrest warrants on her and her boyfriend at the apartment in the unit block of Sulky Court.
One officer got a key from the landlord and opened the apartment after no one responded to repeated knocks. The officer saw Gaines sitting on the floor, pointing a long gun at him, police said. The officers retreated to the hallway, and the boyfriend exited through the front door with a 1-year-old boy, authorities said.
That man, later identified as 39-year-old Kareem Kiean Courtney, was arrested on his outstanding warrant for second-degree assault and later released on his own recognizance. The alleged June assault was against Gaines, according to a police report released Tuesday afternoon. That report is attached above. Gaines alleged at the time that Courtney attempted to strike her with a chair.

Michael Swartz Resigns From Wicomico Central Committee
While Michael seems to have found a special and recent relationship with the Lord, you have to applaud a man who stands up for what he believes in.
The local Republican Party/Club is a JOKE. Their only interest is rubbing elbows with special interests. They've done nothing to help local economic growth and most importantly they turn their backs on the very people truly interested in representing the Republican Party on a local level while Wicomico County crumbles right underneath them. Their delivery of qualified candidates is yet another joke.
Tell me, do you believe John Cannon is a true Republican? How about Bob Culver or Stevie Prettyman? Larry Hogan?
Yes Michael, you made the right move and I tip my hat to you for being a man of honor. Agree or disagree, the Central Committee just lost an incredible asset. Best of luck in your future Michael.
Sleeping In Car Complaints On Rise In Ocean City
OCEAN CITY — Resort officials are seeking to put some teeth in the ordinance regarding sleeping in cars after receiving recent complaints.
Councilman Wayne Hartman said during Monday’s meeting the town has received increased complaints about individuals sleeping in cars in violation of a city ordinance and urged City Solicitor Guy Ayres and City Manager Doug Miller to look into increasing the penalties for the illegal activity. Hartman said the complaints were related to some of the groups the resort has attracted recently.
“There is a correlation between some of the groups that we have that are sometimes disrespectful and a little unruly and sleeping in cars,” he said. “We addressed this through local ordinance and changed the fine from $25 to $100, so I would like to ask our city attorney and city manager if they can look at this further and see if we can take it from a municipal infraction to a misdemeanor and see if that would have any impact on making a stiffer fine or penalty.”
There is a section in the municipal code specifically related to sleeping in cars entitled “use of vehicles for sleeping quarters.”

A Viewer Writes: Abandoned Cars
Today is day 13.
I'd love for them to explain why it is acceptable to abandon cars on eastbound Rt. 50 for DAYS. In my opinion, they are a hazard and can cause a serious accident if someone were to veer out of their lane.
There is a car on the eastbound side of Rt. 50 between Pittsville and Willards - one of which has been there for 13 days now. I KNOW the MSP has driven by them yet there's no orange tow tag. Heck, there isn't even a license plate on the vehicle. Has anyone ever stopped to check the vehicle out? Make sure it's not stolen? Make sure everything is okay?
It's ridiculous that officers would drive by dozens of times per day to issue speeding tickets, yet wouldn't take the appropriate actions to remove these vehicles from a major highway.

Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to push for immigration reform
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake on Wednesday is expected to push for immigration reform and highlight a new report focused on the economic impact Maryland immigrants have on the state.
The report, compiled by the Partnership for a New American Economy, shows immigrant-owned businesses in Maryland generated $1.8 billion in income in 2014, and 26 percent on all entrepreneurs in the state are immigrants. Further, the report says, immigrants make up 19 percent of Maryland's workforce. Maryland immigrants earned $33.7 billion in 2014, with $3.1 billion going to state and local taxes.
The call for immigration reform comes as a larger debate on the issue continues to take shape across the country, especially in the current presidential race. The Partnership for a New American Economy is releasing reports on immigration for all 50 states and Washington, D.C., as part of its Reason for Reform campaign.

Justice for Ginger
On behalf of the Austin family we started this gofundme to help raise a Reward, to offer in exchange for information regarding her brutal killer.
Ginger broke out of her kennel on July 31, 2016 in Mardela Springs, Md., near NW Elementary School. She was a beautiful Red Labrador Retriever and was a total sweetheart. She was very gentle with everyone and wouldn't hurt a soul. Well, unfortunately, a cruel person hurt her. She was found dumped in a ditch with a gunshot wound through her heart. How anyone could commit such a heinous act is beyond comprehension..... As you can imagine, her family is completely devastated. Our community is devastated too and our hearts break for the Austin Family.
We are are so sorry for the loss of Ginger and we hope that the person responsible for this horrible act of animal cruelty is found.
Our beloved pets are our family. They spend their lives loving unconditionally, giving us so much joy, emotional support and friendship. It's a beautiful bond and Ginger's life ended abruptly but not in vain. Please help support the efforts and spread the word so that there will be Justice for Ginger. Phelps To Carry United States Flag During Olympic Opening
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- Unlike the last four Olympics, Michael Phelps will be taking part in the opening ceremony for the Rio Games.
And he'll have something to carry.
Phelps will be the bearer of the U.S. flag during the Friday night ceremony at Maracana Stadium, selected in a vote by all members of the American Olympic team.
The decision announced Wednesday makes Phelps, the most decorated athlete in Olympic history, only the second swimmer to lead the U.S. delegation in the opening ceremony. Gary Hall was the first at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
"I'm honored to be chosen, proud to represent the U.S., and humbled by the significance of carrying the flag and all it stands for," Phelps said.
His selection was an obvious choice. Phelps has captured 18 golds and 22 medals overall, far more than any other athlete in Olympic history, and he is the first American male swimmer to qualify for five Olympics.

Millions of gallons of sewage flowing into Patapsco River after floods
The Maryland National Guard airlifted equipment Wednesday to repair a broken sewer line in Ellicott City that has sent millions of gallons of sewage into the Patapsco River after Saturday's storm.
An estimated 5 million gallons per day have flowed into the Sucker Branch tributary of the Patapsco River, according to Jay Apperson, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment.
The overflow is one of several reported in the Baltimore area after Saturday's torrential rain that caused flooding in the Howard County town and parts of Baltimore.
The break in Ellicott City was not discovered until Tuesday, Apperson said, and crews have struggled to make repairs because a road washed out. Crews hoped to stop the overflow by Wednesday night.

Police: Followers Urged Woman Live-Streaming Standoff To Defy Officers
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) — A seven-hour standoff with police ends with a woman dead and a child injured. Police say they were trying to serve an arrest warrant on 23-year-old Korryn Gaines when she barricaded herself and her five-year-old son inside their home. Police say Gaines had a shotgun, and at one point, the officers exchanged gunfire with her. She was shot and killed.
Investigators say Gaines was live streaming parts of the standoff with police. It’s a new phenomenon that’s got some policing experts worried.
Baltimore County police contacted Facebook and asked them to take down the live stream after followers urged Gaines to defy officers, WJZ’s Meghan McCorkell reports.
As SWAT teams and hostage negotiators assembled outside, inside a Randallstown apartment, Korryn Gaines was sending out a live stream of her seven-hour armed standoff on social media.

Md. school asked to accept After School Satan club
WASHINGTON — Most after-school programs involve exercise, hobbies or arts and crafts, but a local elementary school is considering the Satanic Temple’s request to open an After School Satan club.
The Satanic Temple contacted about a dozen elementary schools across the country, including Bradbury Heights Elementary, in Capitol Heights, with a request to present its curriculum for an after-school gathering.
The group is open in its opposition to evangelical Christian clubs in schools, in particular the Good News Club, which operates in several local school districts.
School officials in Prince George’s County acknowledge receiving the request, and are reviewing it.

Black Lives Matter’s New Bucket List of Demands Reminds Us It’s All Based On A Lie
Black Lives Matter’s release of a laundry list of demands is so confusing, so far-fetched, and so wholly devoid of addressing any real issues affecting the black community that the only plausible explanation is that the entire movement is based on a lie.
Which, of course, it is.
The operatives of this far-left dream, masquerading as a movement for the black community, must have sensed that the nation is tiring of their vitriol and hate, as this latest move is more about moving the goal-posts on the public than providing any solutions that will actually help the black community.
Rather than putting forth concrete, solvable solutions to their so-called grievances, of which many are self-inflicted pathologies brought on by underclass cultural dysfunction, Black Lives Matter reveals that it has no solution – because there is no problem that cannot be solved in the American ghetto by adapting to cultural norms like functioning families.

Can Wicomico County Truly Keep Up With Emergency Services?
OK, so over the past week we've seen a few issues/problems with the Volunteer Fire Services in Wicomico County. Well, there's more.
Today, the sirens went off to get a Volunteer to come in and drive one of the east side ambulances. The County does have two paid Paramedics but here's the problem. When a call comes in, someone has to be there to DRIVE the ambulance.
Because no Volunteer was able to come in quick enough, (this morning) one of the Paramedics had to drive to the other Station so to meet the second Paramedic so they could respond to the call/emergency. Ultimately it's best to have two Volunteers so they can help load the patient on each call. This also means there was NO Paramedic available to take any other calls on the east side if another call came in.
What's interesting is, one friend explained to me this morning how they had to call in an Ambulance to take them to the Hospital. Other then taking their vital signs, nothing else was performed at the scene and or on the way to the Hospital. However, when all was said and done they received a bill for $690.00, that's a fact.
Aside from the fact that each property owner pays taxes to cover these type of services, tacking on an additional $690.00 seems to be a bit outrageous, wouldn't you agree?
Nevertheless, Wicomico County has a problem. While we could sit here and follow the scanner day in and day out, we've got much better things to do. However, in the short time that we have been listening we're clearly seeing the County simply cannot handle these emergencies.
All that being said, what do YOU think needs to be done to resolve these issues?

Benghazi Widow On Khan: Why Is Your Son's Death More Tragic?
Dorothy Woods, widow of Ty Woods, a Navy SEAL who died in the Benghazi terrorist attack, weighed in on the controversy surrounding the Khans, the Muslim Gold Star parents who spoke at the Democratic National Convention, questioning why “they are more important than the rest of us.”
In an interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show, host Hugh Hewitt asked Woods for her reaction to the “Khan-Trump controversy involving the Gold Star family that are the Khans and Mr. Trump?”
Woods replied, “First and foremost, I would never, ever want to wish a Gold Star status on anyone. But I also truly believe that it should never be used as an excuse or a shield when we hear something, and when I say we collectively, the Gold Star families, when we hear something that we don’t like.”
“The way I see it is no one ever questioned [Captain] Khan’s sacrifice or his service or his death,” Woods continued. “He was rightfully given full military honors, you know, like my family, his family, have lived under the benefit of American citizenship. And the second generation, [Captain] Khan and myself, we’ve chosen to give back. I believe that [Captain] Khan was an American first that day, and that’s very important.”
