  1. We are the USA we are not suppose to negotiate with terrorist. Much less pay them ransom so they can find more terrorism with US taxpayers money.

  2. He has vowed to help Iran destroy Israel . Being a muslim (obama) he has work with ISIS.

  3. Ransom money ahead of a deal Iran has not kept? And they're still taking Americans hostage. This administration is totally insane!

  4. So, now everyone in that administration is saying "what difference does it make?"!

  5. Translation: You stupid people have no right to ask how we throw away your hard earned tax dollars. Just shut up and keep sending the money in.

  6. They have been sending planeloads of cash to the middle east for years

  8. 749am - absolutely CORRECT!

What is it, like 40% of ones' salary goes to taxes?? Just imagine if half of that (20%) - we could actually keep and invest it in whatever....economy, kids, ourselves, future....

yeah I know..I know..wake up from my fantasy dream!

  10. 7:41 Israel is our ally. This was taking care of something that happened before 1979.

As Mr Earnest said in a press briefing on 19 January, the $400m (£300.3m) payment was "the result of a long-running claims process that had been at The Hague".
The then-Iranian government had purchased $400m (£300.3m) in US military equipment before it was overthrown in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The Obama administration had agreed to repay Tehran $1.7bn, which included the original payment as well as interest.
Since Iran's financial institutions were completely cut off from the global electronic banking system at the time of the payment, it had to be made in cash.
The sanctions also meant it was illegal to make the payment in US dollars.

BUT, you can use whatever tactics you like to make it work for the Republican agenda. Your candidate has once again proved that he has no idea what is going on in the world.

  11. We have certainly reached the Orwellian state, where officials SAY whatever they want to say, REGARDLESS of the truth. And INSIST we believe it!
Pay no attention the the facts or the clash between the official "version" of the facts and the obvious contradictions they disregard with such ease.
They KNOW that 40% of the American public reads at a second grade level, never watches the news (the Daily Show is NOT news), can't name or identify five U.S. Presidents, and couldn't navigate their way down a one-way street without screwing it up. In a word, stupid.
Their smug arrogance and crass political semantics is why Trump has a following.
They could deny that it's dark at night and 40% of the people would nod in agreement and MSNBC would do a story on why the American people didn't realize that a long time ago.
Stupid people are easily -- VERY easily --- led.
    Keep cheering!
(I'm going to buy another gun today. And no, it won't be "registered", I'm NOT taking a "class" -- my "class was the U.S military, I'm NOT paying a "fee", and I'm not asking any storm trooper or hypocritical politician if it's okay with them.)

  12. 8:53 would you like to explain why you are blaming Trump for this? I do not see his name mentioned anywhere other than your comment.

    1.3b in interest, yea sure.
and it is just a coincidence that we made a 4m payment at the same time we were negotiating prisoners.
have we made any other payments since then? no? hmmmm why not?
yea it's all trumps fault, but he probably knows more than you do mr 8:53.
I have no doubt that he knows more than you do.

  14. Wasn't a huge amount of American currency found in Iraq after Saddaam was captured?

  15. 8:53 - You are a fool if you are buying this crap. Iran should get nothing even if it is owed. This is not about a republican agenda. It is about protecting our country. You know as well as everyone else what this money will be used for and that this is indeed a payment for hostages.

no there was no money. none at all. zilch.

lol just kidding. if memory serves, didn't saddam or one of his sons truck a lot of money out of iraq before our invasion or at least try to?

I remember saddam had a lot of money on him when he was captured. he used it for bribes and such when he was in hiding and never stayed in the same spot twice or on consecetive days.

  18. 9:17 because Trumps reaction was to take to twitter and criticize any move made by the white house, as he always does, with no clear understanding. Which I have learned today is a problem that plagues many readers as well.

9:24 & 9:38 we traded prisoners for prisoners. Another thing you would discover after doing a little research.

You are rallying behind a candidate who has proven time and time again that he is thin skinned, impulsive and ignorant. No wonder Putin wants him in office. We will be the laughing stock of the world. If a valid point is made against Trump he resorts to smear tactics and yells build the wall. It's a perfect strategy for tapping into the voters who hate anyone different from themselves. Don't forget that Trump once praised Obama, and said he is a “champion” who had saved America from a depression. Just one of his many inconsistencies.

We stick our noses into any country we can. It's why we fund drug cartels in SA and provide weapons to militant groups in the middle east.

And please don't take any of this as pro Hillary. She can rot too. I think it's time the people realized we don't have to settle for one or the other.

  19. Stupid statement of the day " I think it's time the people realized we don't have to settle for one or the other"

Really? talk smack like that and offer no solution.

Just another puffed up know-it-all, or should I say know-nothing-at-all.

You keep believing the MSM and all you are fed.

You think he is ignorant, again, I am sure he knows much much more than you do about what is going on.

  21. The stirring phrase "Millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute" is attributed to Robert Harper, later a US Senator from Maryland, at a dinner in 1798. It was made when details of a French official's extortion demand as a payment for starting negotiations between the countries.

It factored into the decision to send Marines 'to the shores of Tripoli' in the war against the Barbary Pirates, where Stephen Decatur gained notice.

Since that time our policy and practice has been not to pay ransom demands because it just encourages more kidnapping and extortion.

But of course, in all the preceding 240 years of our republic, we never had such brilliant leadership as we enjoy today thanks to the selfless toil of Obama, Kerry and HR Clinton.

Lucky us. The mullahs are grinning; they think dealing with our idiots makes taking candy from a baby look challenging!

  23. It was $200M for Iran, $100M for the Obama Foundation, and $100M for the Kerry Foundation. There was no oversight on this so it would be hard to prove me wrong.
