Apparent Murder of State Prison Inmate Investigated

(CUMBERLAND, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the apparent murder of a state prison inmate found deceased in his cell today in Allegany County.

The deceased inmate is identified as Terrance Cirata, 59. He was an inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md. Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services officials said Cirata was serving a 25-year sentence for sex offenses and had been in prison since 2011.

No one has been charged in connection with this apparent crime. Investigators will be consulting with the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding charges as the investigation progresses.

Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators were contacted by this morning by detectives from the DPSCS Internal Investigative Division regarding the death and potential homicide. State Police Homicide Unit investigators responded to the prison to conduct the investigation, with the assistance of DPSCS IID detectives and State Police crime scene technicians.

The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly before 8:00 a.m. today, a correctional officer at the North Branch Correctional Institution received information that caused him to check Cirata’s cell. The officer found Cirata unresponsive on a cell bunk. Correctional officers attempted lifesaving measures with negative results and the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.

No obvious signs of significant trauma were observed by investigators. The body of the deceased has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Cirata shared his cell with another inmate. He was one of numerous individuals interviewed by investigators today.

The investigation is continuing.

COPS SHOT UNARMED GEORGIA WOMAN IN THE HEAD, ADMIRED THEIR MARKSMANSHIP, PREVENTED FIRST AID AFTER

They are both still gainfully employed—woman’s interaction with police began over suspicion of drug use

An awful story in Georgia about a fatal 2010 police shooting as investigated by theAtlanta Journal-Constitution and Channel 2 Action News, illustrates many of the structural and systemic problems in policing and police discipline, not just in Georgia but around the country.

35-year-old Caroline Small took police on a low-speed chase that ended with her Buick Century in a ditch on its rims. The two cops who followed her shot her, claiming they feared for her life because she could drive the car, which was without tires now, down the narrow path between her and them . After shooting her in the head, the cops are caught on their cameras talking about their marksmanship. A subsequent investigation of the incident cleared them of wrongdoing but the investigation by the Journal-Constitution found a number of problems:

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution/Channel 2 Action News investigation of the case found that:

• Glynn County police officers interfered with the GBI’s investigation from the start, seeking to protect the officers.

• The department tampered with the crime scene and created misleading evidence that was shown to the grand jury.

• The local district attorney shared the state’s evidence with the officers nearly two months before the grand jury convened and cut an unusual deal with them just before it met.

Berlin Sidewalk Work To Continue Through Summer

BERLIN – The sidewalk work disrupting traffic and causing lane closures in downtown Berlin is expected to last through the summer.

Officials from Maryland’s State Highway Administration (SHA) report that the sidewalk replacement project that began this spring in Berlin is expected to be complete by the end of the summer. The $400,000 project consists of the installation of new sidewalk along Main Street from Route 346 to Tripoli Street.

“Crews have completed the south side of the project and are roughly halfway through the northbound direction,” SHA spokesman Charlie Gischlar said.

The sidewalk being replaced is more than 20 years old and in poor condition, according to Gischlar. The new sidewalk will meet the latest accessibility requirements. It will be five feet wide and features handicap accessible ramps as well as detectable warning surfaces, or the bumps that enable a visually impaired person to know a road is ahead.

Alabama mother says cops tased epileptic teen girl 3 times

An Alabama woman has filed a lawsuit against local police alleging a stun gun was used on her epileptic daughter three times while the teen was suffering from seizures at a concert in Rainbow City. Police also tased the girl's mother, she alleges.

The 32-page lawsuit, filed earlier this month in US District Court, accuses at least five Rainbow City officers and three officers from neighboring Gadsden, who were allegedly handling security for a January 16 hip-hop concert, of excessive force, torture "and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment," Alabama Media Group reported.

The woman and her 16-year-old daughter, whose identity has not be disclosed, seek damages for pain, emotional distress, medical expenses, punitive damages and attorney's fees, the media group added.

According to Gregory Harp, attorney for the plaintiffs, a "Taser was used three times on a child's chest, during a medical emergency, while she was pinned to the ground by officers. “

Other officers present at the scene failed to intervene. Her mother was knocked to the ground, handcuffed, and then she herself tased and arrested."

Feds sued over massive water-rule power grab

A massive new power grab by bureaucrats in Washington that would give them control of “practically every pond, stream and ditch in the country” and the lands where they are is being challenged in court by a legal team that already has taken on – and defeated – federal efforts to run roughshod over Americans with water rules.

The newest fight is against the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and others for their announcement, at the end of June, to vastly expand the jurisdictional term “waters of the United States” under the clean Water Act.

A lawsuit was filed by the Pacific Legal Foundation because, as its principal attorney, M. Reed Hopper, explained, “This new regulation is an open-ended license for federal bureaucrats to assert control over nearly all of the nation’s water, and much of the property, from coast to coast.”

NEW MD VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS ENTERING KINDERGARTEN, 7TH GRADE FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

Reminder of New Maryland Vaccination Requirements for Students Entering Kindergarten, 7th Grade for the 2015-2016 School Year

Updated Maryland immunization regulations mean additional vaccinations are required for students entering kindergarten and 7th grade for the 2015-2016 school year. These immunization requirements were new for students entering those grades this school year (2014-2015).
  • Students entering kindergarten in 2015-2016 will be required to have had two (2) doses of Varicella vaccine (for Chickenpox). Prior to the current school year, only one (1) dose of Varicella vaccine was required.
  • Students entering 7th grade in 2015-2016 will be required to have had one (1) dose of a booster Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis/whooping cough) vaccine and one (1) dose of Meningococcal vaccine. These vaccine requirements were new for 7th graders for this school year. (The new immunization requirements must also be met by students entering 8th grade, most of whom already meet the new requirements.)

Wicomico County Public Schools is informing parents of current prekindergarten and sixth-grade students of the new vaccination requirements now to ensure families have ample time to take care of the required vaccinations prior to the start of the 2015-2016 school year. A letter about the immunization requirements went home with the 3rd marking period and year-end report cards for students in Prekindergarten and Grade 6.

The immunization chart with new requirements is posted on the school system’s website: (click HERE)

Parents/guardians are encouraged to check their child’s health record and schedule immunization appointments as needed to ensure the child meets the state requirements by the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Some health insurance plans offer an electronic copy of the immunization form that can be submitted to school staff, or an up-to-date immunization record may be requested from a doctor’s office. Parents are responsible for providing each school with their child’s updated vaccine record.

Parents/guardians should contact the child’s primary care provider to ask questions and to receive the new immunizations. The new immunizations are also available at no cost through the Wicomico County Health Department, which will support Wicomico County Public Schools and families with a walk-in health clinic on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. No cost for the new immunizations. All other immunizations offered through insurance, Medicaid, or nominal fee. Fritz Center, 300 W. Carroll St. Salisbury. Clinics will also be held from 8 a.m.-noon Sept. 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23, and from 5-7:30 Sept. 16 only. If unable to make one of these clinics, or to inquire about other immunizations, parents/guardians should call the Health Department at 410-543-6943.

Maryland immunization law states children must be excluded from school if they do not have up to date immunizations within 20 calendar days of admission to the school. Parents/guardians of students not yet meeting the new immunization requirements when the 2015-2016 school year begins must provide the school office with notice that the student has an appointment for immunization within 20 days. This notice may be a note from a doctor’s office or clinic, or a note or verbal notification from the parent/guardian with the date of the appointment within 20 calendar days. The appointment must be kept within that 20 days, and proof of immunization provided to the school for the student to continue attending.

Lyme Disease Tick Spreading Rapidly in US

The geographic areas where Lyme disease is a bigger danger have grown dramatically, according to a new government study published Wednesday

U.S. cases remain concentrated in the Northeast and upper Midwest. But now more areas in those regions are considered high risk.

"The risk is expanding, in all directions," said the lead author, Kiersten Kugeler of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There are now 260 counties where the risk of catching Lyme disease is at least twice the national average, up from 130 a decade earlier, the report shows.

Lyme disease is most common in wooded suburban and far suburban counties. Scientists aren't sure why high-risk areas are expanding, but it likely has something to do with development and other changes that cause the mice, deer and ticks that carry the bacteria to move, Kugeler said.

Overall, 17 states have high-risk counties. The entire state of Connecticut, where the illness was first identified in 1975, has been high-risk for decades. Now, high-risk zones encompass nearly all of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and more than half of Maine and Vermont.

4 Ways Big Pharma Is Ripping You Off

America spends more than any other country on healthcare, yet ranks last in health quality among developed nations.

Why is this?

Much of it can be blamed on our system of administering prescription drugs.

Prescription medications make up close to 10 percent of the $2.9 trillion annual total spent on healthcare in the U.S., and the costs of drugs continues to rise.

Your health may not be the first priority of big pharmaceutical companies, whose shareholders demand maximum profits.

“Physicians are by and large really goodhearted, well-meaning people, but without knowing it, they are simply being herded into recommending what is most profitable,” says Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D., a board certified internist and author of the best-selling book "Real Cause, Real Cure."

New California Law Recognizes Cheerleaders as Employees

Gov. Jerry Brown has approved legislation recognizing California's professional cheerleaders as employees who are entitled to minimum wage and overtime.

The Democratic governor announced Wednesday that he signed AB202, requiring that sports teams employ cheerleaders as workers instead of contractors. It provides them with sick leave and overtime pay, as well as other labor protections available to team staff.

The law, which will take effect in 2016, is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation. A similar bill in New York is pending.

Democratic Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez introduced the bill after Oakland Raiderette cheerleaders filed a wage-theft lawsuit. Gonzalez, who cheered at Stanford, said many professional cheerleaders are treated like glorified volunteers.

"We would never tolerate shortchanging of women workers at any other workplace. An NFL game should be no different," Gonzalez said in a statement.

Raiders cheerleaders were ultimately paid less than $5 per hour through a contract that did not include pay for hours of rehearsals and public appearances, Raiderettes attorney Sharon Vinick said.

Manatee Spotted in the Chesapeake Bay

The animal was sighted in St. George Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River near Waldorf, Maryland.

While it may seem like an odd occurrence to see these animals in our area, it’s actually no coincidence. In the warmer summer months, manatees typically travel up the East Coast from Florida. The Chesapeake Bay is full of sea grasses, choice food for any manatee meal.

As temperatures begin to drop in September, these migrating manatees will begin to head back to the warmer waters available along the southern Atlantic coast.

PR Firm: Harvesting Organs of Aborted Babies 'Humanitarian'

Planned Parenthood's public relations firm, Camino Public Relations, says in a background document that harvesting organs of aborted babies is a "humanitarian undertaking," The Weekly Standard reports.

Elizabeth Toledo, the president of Camino Public Relations, says that the process isn't as gruesome as most suggest, but rather a process that can help save lives.

"It’s not like someone comes and says like 'I’d like to buy an arm,' or something like that. It really doesn’t work that way," Toledo told the Weekly Standard.

According to the PR firm's "backgrounder" document, it states that "Aborted pregnancy tissue donation and research are humanitarian undertakings that hold the potential to cure disease, save lives, and ameliorate suffering."

The document also states that a secret video, made by David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress, shows "inaccurate" and "inflammatory" claims regarding Planned Parenthood's fetal tissue donation and reproductive healthcare.

The Weekly Standard notes that the undercover video displays Planned Parenthood's senior director for medical services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, bragging about the technique in which they abort babies to enable them to later sell their body parts and organs for profit.

Smoking Gun in Hillary Clinton Benghazi Email

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence,” said President Calvin Coolidge, and Judicial Watch continues to prove it, much to Hillary Clinton’s consternation.

Judicial Watch now has information about an email directly tying Clinton, for the first time, to the now-debunked Benghazi talking points used by then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice to claim the attack was the result of a “spontaneous protest” gone awry.

Showing contempt for transparency, the Obama State Department is refusing to divulge the contents of the email.

Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit in July 2014 seeking records from Clinton and her top State Department staff about the Benghazi talking points scandal, specifically, copies of any updates and/or talking points given to Ambassador Rice by the White House or any federal agency concerning, regarding, or related to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya; and any and all records or communications concerning, regarding, or relating to talking points or updates on the Benghazi attack given to Ambassador Rice by the White House or any federal agency.

Baltimore will pay kids to shovel snow next winter

Children won't have to ring the doorbell to ask grandma if she wants her sidewalk shoveled this winter in Baltimore City.

The city Department of Transportation is starting a new youth snow program that will have young people clearing public sidewalks for older residents and those with disabilities. It will hire 200 to 400 youths between the ages of 14 and 21.

Young people participating will have the choice of receiving a stipend of at least $500 — depending on how much it snows — or credit hours that can be applied toward high school graduation. They will be assigned specific locations to shovel during snow emergencies, said said Richard Hooper, operations bureau chief for the department of transportation.

SUPREME COURT CAUGHT MESSING WITH MARRIAGE CASE?

Suspicious events described as 'troubling turn' found by key legal team

A series of events that has been described as a “troubling turn” has been found to have taken place at the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the justices’ looming decision on marriage – whether they will affirm the millennia old standard of one man and one woman or whether they will create a right to homosexual “marriage.”

The report is from the law firm of William J. Olson, P.C., the workplace of Olson, who served in several positions for the Reagan administration, and Herb Titus, a longtime constitutional law professor.

The organization has issued a series of reports on the issue of marriage, under funding from the United States Justice Foundation.

The circumstances concern efforts to have Ruth Ginsburg and Elena Kagan recused from the marriage case because they both have taken public advocacy positions for same-sex “marriage” by performing those ceremonies even while the case was pending before the justices.

The charges against Briddell arose out of an incident that occurred during the months of October, 2014 through November, 2014. (Please note that because there are other related cases pending, the State is unable to provide additional details about this matter at this time).

Briddell was sentenced in the Wicomico County Circuit Court to a total of 145 years in prison. He received the maximum penalty of 40 years for the Human Trafficking charges; 30 years for Kidnapping, 50 years for Conspiracy Rape 1st Degree, 20 years for Sex Offense 3rd Degree, and 5 years for Distribution of Heroin. Briddell will also be subject to sex offender registration for the remainder of his life.

Matthew A. Maciarello, State’s Attorney for Wicomico County stated: “Human trafficking is occurring in cities and towns, big and small, all across the country. This case was a product of multiple agencies working together to obtain justice for many who were victimized by the defendant. The result achieved in this case is a testament to the fact that we will not stand idle as heroin dealers and agents of prostitution profit off of those unable to protect themselves. Law enforcement officers are working very hard to identify and arrest those involved in these heinous crimes—and when such offenders are caught, our office will prosecute with earnestness and vigor.”

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Salisbury City Police, the Maryland State Police, and the Department of Homeland Security, along with investigating officers, Sgt. Howard Kennard, Sr. Tpr. Kenny Moore, Special Agent Cara Rose, Det. Matthew Thompsen, Det. Jeff Miller, Sgt. Chris Devoe, and Det. Jason Caputo. Hillary Fired for Lies, Unethical Behavior from Congressional Job: Former Boss

(Published April 1, 2008)

Dan Calabrese’s new column on Hillary Clinton’s past may bring the curtain down on her political future. Calabrese interviewed Jerry Zeifman, the man who served as chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during the Watergate hearings, has tried to tell the story of his former staffer’s behavior during those proceedings for years. Zeifman claims he fired Hillary for unethical behavior and that she conspired to deny Richard Nixon counsel during the hearings:

As Hillary Clinton came under increasing scrutiny for her story about facing sniper fire in Bosnia, one question that arose was whether she has engaged in a pattern of lying.

The now-retired general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, who supervised Hillary when she worked on the Watergate investigation, says Hillary’s history of lies and unethical behavior goes back farther – and goes much deeper – than anyone realizes.

Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week.

Sorry, CNN: Same-sex “marriage” is a public health risk

With marriage officially redefined across America, it has become incumbent upon the mainstream media to justify this offense against God, human nature, and the U.S. Constitution.

On June 29, CNN made one such effort, in a gloating article that abused and misused science to claim that redefining marriage would improve America’s health.

What CNN (mis)reported

One of CNN’s primary source of “information” comes from Dr. William C. Buffie, described as “a physician at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, who researched public health implications of same-sex marriage.” According to CNN:

But numerous studies have shown that a happy heterosexual marriage gives individuals a health boost, including better access to health care, longer life spans, and lower rates of depression — and, Buffie said, that applies to same-sex marriage, as well.

“As it relates to health outcomes, same-sex couples benefit from marriage in the same way as opposite sex couples,” Buffie said.

Friendly Reminder: Medicaid Is A 'Humanitarian Catastrophe'

I’m sure most of you already know this, but Medicaid expansion–a critical component of Obamacare–is an abject disaster. In Virginia, almost a quarter of doctors aren’t accepting new Medicaid recipients–and those already enrolled into this government-run health care program experienced no improvement in care.

So, how is this a good blueprint for the rest of the country? Well, as you know, it isn’t–and the figures get worse regarding who is actually receiving care under this government program. As the Foundation for Government Accountabilityreiterated during their conference in June, there are still a lot of misconceptions about Medicaid expansion.

For starters, let’s go over the talking points (again).

First, it’s not “free money;” the federal debt is projected to grow over $26 trillion dollars over the next decade.

Review: Harper Lee’s ‘Go Set a Watchman’ Gives Atticus Finch a Dark Side

We remember Atticus Finch in Harper Lee’s 1960 classic, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” as that novel’s moral conscience: kind, wise, honorable, an avatar of integrity who used his gifts as a lawyer to defend a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman in a small Alabama town filled with prejudice and hatred in the 1930s. As indelibly played by Gregory Peck in the 1962 movie, he was the perfect man — the ideal father and a principled idealist, an enlightened, almost saintly believer in justice and fairness. In real life, people named their children after Atticus. People went to law school and became lawyers because of Atticus.

Shockingly, in Ms. Lee’s long-awaited novel, “Go Set a Watchman” (due out Tuesday), Atticus is a racist who once attended a Klan meeting, who says things like “The Negroes down here are still in their childhood as a people.” Or asks his daughter: “Do you want Negroes by the carload in our schools and churches and theaters? Do you want them in our world?”

In “Mockingbird,” a book once described by Oprah Winfrey as “our national novel,” Atticus praised American courts as “the great levelers,” dedicated to the proposition that “all men are created equal.” In “Watchman,” set in the 1950s in the era of the Brown v. Board of Education decision, he denounces the Supreme Court, says he wants his home state “to be left alone to keep house without advice from the N.A.A.C.P.” and describes N.A.A.C.P.-paid lawyers as “standing around like buzzards.”

In “Mockingbird,” Atticus was a role model for his children, Scout and Jem — their North Star, their hero, the most potent moral force in their lives. In “Watchman,” he becomes the source of grievous pain and disillusionment for the 26-year-old Scout (or Jean Louise, as she’s now known).

WASHINGTON — A convicted sex offender has been indicted on first-degree murder charges for the deaths and disappearance of two sisters who went missing in Montgomery County more than 40 years ago but the charges offer few answers for a community that has never forgotten the girls’ story.

Lloyd Lee Welch, 58, is charged in Bedford County, Virginia, for the deaths of Sheila, 12, and Katherine, 10, Lyon, who were last seen at Wheaton Plaza, now known as Westfield Wheaton Mall, where they had gone to look at Easter decorations and to eat lunch on March 25, 1975. They never returned to their family’s home, which was just a few blocks away.

With the girls’ parents John and Mary Lyon and other family members by their side, law enforcement and prosecutors from both Montgomery County and Bedford County announced the indictment, which a grand jury handed down Friday but was not unsealed until Wednesday, near the mall in Wheaton.

Richmond court dismisses suit involving cow dung in streams

A Richmond Circuit Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by an environmental group that sought to keep cattle from big livestock farms out of streams.

Cattle in streams often drop waste and cause erosion. That taints waterways, many of which lead to the already troubled Chesapeake Bay.

The suit by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation asked the court to require Virginia to prohibit large livestock farms — for cattle, that’s defined as 200 to 300 animals — from allowing the cattle in streams.

Congress’s Plans to Lock You in

US routinely uses passport revocation to punish its political enemies

Freedom to travel is a fundamental and internationally recognized human right. Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) states:

Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state. Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.

Congress ratified the UDHR on April 2, 1992. But it’s now having second thoughts.

The “right to travel” makes some politicians very nervous. Consider the issue from their viewpoint. Leaving the country makes it more difficult to detain you if the Feds suspect you of a crime, such aswithdrawing lawfully earned cash from your bank account. It’s also less convenient to surveil you if your political opinions don’t toe the party line. And above all, it’s harder for Big Brother to grab your assets.

Report: Wind Turbines Trigger Danger Response In The Brain

If just reading the words ‘wind turbines’ makes you feel physically sick then spare a thought for the people who have had them thrust into their lives. A new report shows living near a wind turbine may harm emotional wellbeing after scientists discovered that low frequency sounds generated by rotor blades trigger a part of the brain which senses danger.

According to the Daily Telegraph, brain scans show that even infrasound as low as 8hz – a whole octave below the traditional cut off point for human hearing – is still being picked up by the primary auditory cortex. This is the part of the brain which translates sounds into meaning.

And a separate part of the brain, linked to emotions, also lit up when the seemingly ‘inaudible’ noises were played to volunteers in a lab.

BURR AMENDMENT WOULD CUT $40 MILLION FROM MARYLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Every single Maryland school district would lose federal funds under the Burr Amendment: Baltimore City would lose $6.2 million, Baltimore County would lose $6.2 million, Washington County would lose $859,000, Wicomico County would lose $982,000

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.), senior member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today spoke on the Senate floor to oppose an amendment sponsored by Senator Richard Burr (R-N.C.). The Burr Amendment would change the Title I funding formula in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), cutting federal funding for public schools in states like Maryland that make investing in education and closing the achievement gap a top priority.

“I’m here today to stand up for Maryland and all the educators and students who would lose resources under the Burr amendment,” said Senator Mikulski. “This amendment would punish states like Maryland that make education a priority by investing in students who need extra help. The amendment will not do a thing to lift kids out of poverty or close the achievement gap. In fact it will make the gap worse. Maryland alone will lose $40 million under this amendment, and I won’t let that happen. I am on the side of our students, and I am on the side of all the teachers and administrators who work so hard to educate them.

Murder Rates Drop As Concealed Carry Permits Soar

The number of concealed carry handgun permits has skyrocketed since President Obama was first elected, while murder rates have fallen, according to a new report released Wednesday.

Since 2007, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared from 4.6 million to over 12.8 million, and murder rates have fallen from 5.6 killings per 100,000 people to just 4.2, about a 25 percent drop, according to the report from the Crime Prevention Research Center.

And the number of permits issued is increasing faster every year. Over 1.7 million new permits were issued last year — a 15.4 percent increase over 2013, the largest such single-year jump ever, according to the report from the center led by President John R. Lott and research director John E. Whitley.

“It puts the lie to the myth promulgated by anti-gun individuals that somehow more law-abiding citizens carrying guns will lead to more crime. In fact, quite the opposite is the case,” said Larry Keene, senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation. “More law-abiding citizens own firearms for self-protection, and crime continues to decline.”

Salon Says Alex Jones’ Anti-PC Rants Could Get Gay People Murdered

This is why Salon is a complete laughing stock.

Salon’s Bob Cesca says that Alex Jones’ rants about the media being obsessed with political correctness could lead to gay people being murdered.

In a piece posted yesterday, Cesca accuses Jones of being a “libertarian homophobe” for not fully embracing the recent Supreme Court decision on gay marriage, before directly suggesting that the radio host’s criticism of the left’s fixation with LGBT issues could lead to violent extremists going out and murdering gays and transgenders.

“Seriously speaking, it’s eliminationist rhetoric like this that gets people killed,” writes Cesca.

Dick Morris: The Bushes Rehabbed the Clintons

If Hillary Clinton becomes the next president — and, in the process defeats Jeb Bush — the Bush family will only have itself to blame.

Without the active help of both former President George H.W. Bush and his son, George W. Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton would be on the ash heap of history. It was Bill's predecessor and his successor who saved his and his wife's career.

Note: Dick Morris is appearing all this week on Newsmax TV discussing the 2016 presidential race, the Republican primary and Hillary's campaign. Watch Dick on DirecTV 349, Dish 223, FIOS 115 or go to Newsmax TV by clicking here.

State Police Conducting Death Investigation

Georgetown - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently conducting an investigation of an apparent accidental drowning of a man operating a farm tractor near a tax ditch.

Preliminary investigation revealed first responders were called to the area near a tax ditch behind 18642 County Seat Highway Georgetown, around 6:45 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, July 15, 2015, where they located a male subject deceased. Kendall B. Hastings, 47, of Georgetown was operating an older model 8N Ford Farm Tractor cutting brush, along a deep water filled tax ditch approximately 1/4 mile behind his residence when the right rear tire of the tractor slipped off the steeply angled ditch bank. This caused the entire tractor to overturn onto it's top, trapping the victim underwater.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted and responded to the scene in order to remove the body. An autopsy will be conducted in an attempt to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.

New resources announced to help those with student loan debt buy homes

CENTREVILLE — Maryland is putting more resources into an innovative program that makes homeownership more accessible to members of the Millennial generation who have been trapped by significant student debt.

Gov. Larry Hogan and Secretary Kenneth Holt said the state will commit $70 million for the next phase of the "You've Earned It!" program for Maryland Mortgage Program borrowers who have more than $25,000 in student loan debt and are purchasing a home in one of the state's Sustainable Communities, such as Centreville or Sudlersville.

The program is aimed at assisting potential buyers, particularly members of the so-called "Boomerang Generation," who are employed and have good credit but are saddled with student debt that is proving a barrier to homeownership. These young people are more likely to live with their parents than were young people one or two decades ago and they are saddled with significantly more student loan debt than their predecessors.
