FOP Calls Out County Executive Rick Pollitt As Dishonorable

WICOMICO COUNTY F.O.P.
LODGE 111
SALISBURY, MARYLAND

PRESS RELEASE

The Wicomico County Fraternal Order of Police has filed for arbitration against County Executive Richard Pollitt’s decision not to honor the current contract between the Deputy Sheriffs and the County. “Clearly the County Executive does not believe in the rule of law and in honoring his word”, stated FOP President Sgt. Martin Fisher.

After agreeing to pay increases and a new disability pension program for deputies seriously injured in the line of duty, the County Executive proudly touted the successful negotiation and publicly stated his support for the deputy’s new agreement. Now the County Executive is ignoring the law that he and the County Council signed on June 13, 2014.

Sheriff Mike Lewis agreed with the FOP’s position in a grievance filed after Pollitt’s decision not to honor the signed contract. In a written response to the FOP’s grievance, the Sheriff ruled in favor of the FOP, stating in part,” I find the FOP’s position is supported and factually accurate” The County Executive is even ignoring the written decision of Sheriff Lewis.

According to President Fisher, “the evidence is clear and available for anyone to see. We will do whatever we have to, in order to enforce our agreement”. It is unfortunate Mr. Pollitt has chosen to waste taxpayers’ money and destroy morale in the Sheriff’s Office.”

Respectfully,
Martin A. Fisher
President F.O.P. Lodge 111

County Executive A Victim Of Common Core

Considering Pollitt was quoted in the Daily Times stating he has NOT raised a single red cent for his campaign for re election, he also stated the following.

“From my perspective, I think my best strategy (for the primaries) was to keep doing what I’ve been doing for the last 11 years,” Pollitt added.

Excuse me Rick, (and the Daily Times) but you haven't been County Executive for 11 YEARS!!!! You've been in office for SEVEN years.

Now, that being said, now that we know MATH isn't a strong point for Rick Pollitt, when he does raise money, my guess is that he will do so in a VERY BIG way from donations in Annapolis and he doesn't want YOU to see that until the very end or the election is over.

Culver is coming on VERY STRONG in the last week financially and without giving you any BS Hype, business owners and residents in the County are coming to Bob's side and it looks like Bob will be the clear winner in this race.

The NICE GUY days are over for Pollitt. He has been in office long enough to prove he cannot handle the County's massive job losses. He has proven his main goal is to raise taxes each and every year in the hope YOU will help him eliminate the revenue cap.

Rick has hired THREE In House Attorneys and has skyrocketed executive office expense WAY BEYOND what anyone had ever agreed upon.

Finally let's talk about the FOP and WCSO. Ever since Rick was elected he made a deal with the WCSO for collective bargaining without binding arbitration. In recent weeks, (after SEVEN years) they finally came to an agreement and out of nowhere the deal fell flat on its face and Rick sent back ALL of the money they had been taking out of Deputies pay in anticipation of the deal going through.

They are trying to keep it quiet but let me tell you this, there's a MASSIVE lawsuit about to hit the County Taxpayers and quite frankly, (this is just an opinion) the County Executive is going to lose.

It truly is time for new leadership in Wicomico County. Bob Culver is a proven and successful businessman who can and will lead the County in the right direction.

If Pollitt does in fact win, well, (in my honest opinion) the election was rigged, period.

A Liberal Comment Worthy Of A Post

I truly HATE this blog because it so one sided politically and personally. Some opinions are censored.

This blog allows so much hate, lack of respect and disdain against the President Obama and the federal government.

This blog do not respect the opinions of all people. Just the blogger and it's friends who think overall, republican.

I can't wait until this blog gets shut down in the future and for good.

This blog is so much about politics that it is boring. All this copy and paste news from all over the country and not enough local or eastern shore news.

You all need to clean up your own house, instead of wondering what's going on in other states.
Joe, your blog is so one sided, some of us are tired of your news.
Peace be with you.

Josh Hastings Illegal Sign On Rt. 13 Bypass

Another illegal Josh Hastings sign located this time in the median of State of Maryland Rt. 13 Northbound Bypass near the 35 mile marker. This guy has no regard for Maryland Laws as well as the safety of citizens and travelers of this stretch of Highway in Wicomico County. Not only is this sign illegally posted in the median, but it is dangerous because it is a distraction to motorist.

Josh Hastings did not get permission to post his sign in that median strip and chances are if you see a Josh Hastings sign posted anywhere it was posted without permission.

It was also dangerous and illegal for this clown to get out of his vehicle to post this political sign in the median. He could have been struck and killed or he could have caused a bad accident killing a car loaded with family members trying to dodge him on that highway. He broke the law because no pedestrians are allowed on that bypass.

Not only is he a liar as pointed out several days ago, but he is obviously a law breaker. He broke at least 2 laws just posting that sign. This guy is desperate, delusional and dangerous and this guy wants to represent you the citizens of Wicomico County. DO NOT VOTE FOR JOSH HASTINGS!

I am a candidate for public office. Do I need a State permit to advertise?

NO. Political signs do not require a permit, but they may not be placed in the median, along the shoulder, or anywhere else within SHA right-of-way, just as other advertising signs are prohibited.

Mayor Jim Ireton Creates New Position For Close Friend Chris Demone As Salisbury's New PIO Officer

Christopher M. Demone
Public Information Officer

Your tax dollars/increases hard at work! More evidence that Liberals continue to GROW government rather than cutting back.

Think about it. Does Salisbury actually need a PIO Officer?

Now You See It, Now You Don't! Royal Farms Turns Against Senator Jim Mathias

Local representatives from Royal Farms have been following Salisbury News, (since no one else covers local politics) and made the firm decision, take down Jim Mathias campaign signs.

Just more evidence, Mathias and Conway only retain credibility at the Willards Lions Club where they have delivered huge tax dollars for non profits who do NOT pay taxes.

As I said, the lights are all turning out for the Mathias/Conway Duo and YOU should do the very same.

Clearly enough customers told Royal Farms, you keep supporting this guy and we'll take our business elsewhere. Enough Said!

Who Owns The Road?

When I was younger I spent a very large portion of my youth going places on a bicycle. Yes, I even belonged to a Bike Club.

We knew the rules of the road and quite frankly respected them. The alternative was getting hit by a ticked off driver.

These two jackasses decided they not only owned the road, when they turned right onto Bi State Blvd. the shoulder becomes extremely wide and wouldn't you know it, rather than moving over one of them rode the white line of the road and completely stopped traffic until the vehicles coming in the opposite direction cleared so we could safely pass them.

As many of you know, I ride motorcycles and we regularly ride in the same lane while riding in groups. There's plenty of room, just like there is on that road for bicyclists.

Fortunately I'm one of those drivers that's not in a hurry to get anywhere. However, not everyone is like me.

Child Found in Possession of Heroin at Selbyville Daycare

**Correction - Tull released after posting bail**

Selbyville, DE – Troopers are currently investigating an incident in which a 4 year old child brought heroin into a Selbyville daycare and began passing it out to other children.

Troopers and medical personnel were called to the Hickory Tree Child Care Center located at 2 Hickory Tree Lane around 11:45 a.m. this morning after daycare providers observed some children with small bags of an unknown substance. The white powdery substance, which was still enclosed in the bags, was removed by the teachers and immediately taken to the Selbyville Police Department where it was determined to be heroin.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 4 year old girl unknowingly brought the small bags of heroin into the childcare in a backpack that her mother gave her after hers had become ruined by the family pet sometime through the night. Upon thinking the packets were candy, she began passing them out to her classmates. Several children who came in contact with the unopened bags were transported to area hospitals as a precautionary measure and were released after being examined. A total of 249 bags of heroin weighing 3.735 grams was located in the backpack.

Ashley R. Tull, 30 of Selbyville, the mother of the young girl, was contacted by troopers when she responded to the daycare and taken into custody shortly after being interviewed. She was later transported back to Troop 4 where she was charged with Maintaining a Drug Property and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Tull has two additional children, a 9 year old male and an 11 year old female, that reside in her residence along with the 4 year old female. She was arraigned at JP2 and released after posting $6,000.00 secured bond. A no contact order was also set in place with her three children, all who are in the custody of a relative.

Detectives are continuing to investigate this case and more charges may be forthcoming.

Just How Many Days Do Local Businesses Have To Take This Crap

When the Eastern Shore gets crippled by a Great Depression and the state decides it's going to use an extremely slow minority contractor to repair sidewalks, WHY do they not coordinate such repairs at NIGHT so these businesses can remain open?

When you start blocking off entrances like this, well, the tens of thousands of people diving by every day won't give you a second look. I feel for Vinny and ALL of the other businesses just trying to stay alive.

Obamaphone use up 100-fold in Maryland

The use of consumer-subsidized “Obamaphones” in Maryland grew 100-fold in three years, to 645,000, twice the number eligible for the program, Washington Examiner reports.

Officially called Lifeline, the federal program, administered by the Federal Communications Commission, provides free cell phone service to qualified low-income customers. Cell phone companies that sign up low-income customers are reimbursed $9.25 per customer through universal service charge fees on other cell phone customers’ monthly bills.

In testimony before the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the Committee on Energy and Commerce last year, a telecom consultant testified that:

“The greatest increase in Lifeline subscribership has occurred in Maryland. In the third quarter of 2009, there were only 6,504 Lifeline subscribers in Maryland, representing only 2 percent of the eligible low-income households in that state. By the third quarter of 2012, the number of Lifeline subscribers in Maryland had risen almost 100 fold to 645,000. Moreover, the current number of Lifeline subscribers in Maryland is almost double the number of low-income households in the state, as shown by the graph. The dashed red line is the number of eligible low-income households. The blue line is the number of Lifeline subscribers by quarter.”

D.C. Councilmember David Grosso Suggests Disarming City Police, Says Officers 'Shouldn't Have Guns'

A D.C. councilmember says city police officers "shouldn't have guns."

Independent Councilmember David Grosso made his comments Wednesday night at a hearing on the use of stop-and-frisk and other tactics by District of Columbia police.

Grosso said his staff has urged him not to express the opinion, but nonetheless, he said, "I think we ought to get rid of guns in the city and that police shouldn't have guns."

Democratic Councilmember Tommy Wells pointed out that some police officers in other countries don't carry deadly weapons.

The terrible truth about cannabis

A definitive 20-year study into the effects of long-term cannabis use has demolished the argument that the drug is safe.

Cannabis is highly addictive, causes mental health problems and opens the door to hard drugs, the study found.

The paper by Professor Wayne Hall, a drugs advisor to the World Health Organisation, builds a compelling case against those who deny the devastation cannabis wreaks on the brain. Professor Hall found:

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley Says Younger Generations See WiFi Access As A 'Human Right'

Maryland Gov.O'Malley, who is reportedly considering a run for president, said that he sometimes feels closer in spirit to his 20-something daughters than to the baby boom generation that he is a part of.

"I am noticing a generational shift," the 51-year-old Democrat told CNN in an interview that included his view that younger generations see WiFii access as a "human right."

O'Malley gushes about the re-birth of American cities, a renaissance he said is driven by young people who "have an awareness of our interdependence" and chafe at hierarchies and top-down leadership.

A Letter To The Editor: Who owns the road?

Regarding the article and photo of the 6 Oct article and accompanying photo of two bicyclists using the publicly owned road.

They are clearly following another vehicle at a safe distance and riding legally. There is no shoulder in the photo, just the sidewalk. It's pretty doubtful that the local law allows bicyclists to use the sidewalk.

Now, I would ask what if instead of bicycles, they were two small motorcycles riding side by side and they happen to be slow drivers. Pretty doubtful there would be any argument in a public forum.

So, the anger is not with the clearly legal and safe bicyclists, nor is it with who owns the road, it's more a question of involvement.

The bicyclists own as much of the road as a motorcycle rider, car driver, pickup or 18 wheeler drivers for that matter. All residents pay for the road via taxes.

If a bicyclist breaks the law, they need to be held accountable with a traffic violation.

If they're using the road safely and as directed by law, then what is the problem?

If the residents decide bicyclists must follow each other in single file at the edge of the road, the residents would see the law changed and the bicyclist would obey or get a ticket.

It's not the bicyclist's fault if the police do not ticket them, talk to the local police. And if someone would petition the local government to enact tighter bicycle laws, it would benefit the bicyclist most of all.

Beats looking like a whiner any day.

They're among the brightest young minds in the country... and they think America is a bigger threat to world peace than ISIS

Harvard video survey reveals the value of a $60,000-a-year education
So much for the best and the brightest!

Harvard students believe that American is a bigger threat to world peace than ISIS, according to a recent survey of attendees at the prestigious Cambridge university.

Campus Reform, a self-styled 'campus watchdog' for conservative students, carried out the interviews in the quad at the Ivy League school on Saturday and asked: ‘Who is the bigger threat to world peace, ISIS or the U.S.?’

The students featured in the video were overwhelming in their belief that America and its interventionist foreign policy is a greater threat than the group of Muslim fanatics that have gained global notoriety in recent months through a series of video of Western hostages being beheaded.

Let's Help Send the Limousine Liberals Back Home

Wicomico's taxpayers will soon get a chance to express themselves at the polls on November 4th.  Here in Wicomico we have all witnessed a massive exodus of businesses, a significant reduction in our local area workforce.  Taxes have skyrocketed, fees have been imposed - (flush tax), drivers licenses & tolls have all increased and now it is time for us to take the matter to the polls.

Whose hands are dirty:  Our current slate of elected Democratic Delegates have certainly had their dirty hands on the steering wheel - let us examine some of the legislation that has been thwarted or promulgated to the detriment of Wicomico's businesses and citizens.

1.   House Bill 966 - Elected County School Board
HB 966 was to allow the people to decide who would represent them on local school issues.  The issue was to be put on a public referendum.  Certainly - Norman Conway's inaction on the issue was a deterrent to allowing free public choice.

2.  House Bill 1522 - Hotel Rental Tax and User Fees Increase
This legislation was sponsored by Norman Conway and has resulted in an increase in the hotel rental tax rate in Wicomico County - (5% to 6%).  But that was not the only increase that Wicomico residents have suffered - buried in the legislation were also provisions to increase ticket prices by imposing surcharges on events being held at the civic center.  This represents another 'blow' to our citizens pocketbooks.

3.  House Bill 1412 - Education - Maintenance of Effort (Repeal or override of the County's Revenue Cap)
This piece of legislation strikes at the very heart of Wicomico's residents - as more than 70% of the voters passed the grass roots effort to put a halt to run-a-way real estate taxes.

At SBYnews our hope is that there are still enough 'William Wallaces' out there who will educate themselves on the issues - and correct the current political imbalance.  The battle cry has been sounded - and the choice will soon be yours to determine your destiny.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 10-10-14

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "FOP Calls Out County Executive Rick Pollitt As Dis...":

I think some of you are confused as to what transpired between the F.O.P. and Rick Pollit's staff. The county offered a fair and very solid contract. All parties agreed to the contract as presented by the County. It was not until after the County started removing funds to maintenance the said contract did the F.O.P. learn the contract had major changes in the language and benefits. When the F.O.P. brought this to the attention of Rick's office they refused to removed a social security offset they inserted in the contract, that would greatly diminish a young deputies benefits if injured in the line of duty. Again the F.O.P. was not asking for anything absurd just disability for line of duty injury that results in the deputy being unable to work as a law enforcement officer.

It should be noted in this negotiation there is five attorneys and seven Sheriff's deputies in room. the truth will come out. This being said why on earth would the F.O.P. walk away from such a great contract. People this does not add up. It was a classic bait and switch by Pollitt's Office. In knowing Rick Pollitt the way I do I have to believe he was misled by his staff and no one had the balls to admit to their mistake to him. I think we all know who screwed up.

The fact is the deputies have been more then patient waiting for the County to do what the people of this great county told them to do in 2006. The deputies of this county have been asking for a disability that is comparable to other law enforcement through out this nation. In line of duty disability nothing more. Anyone who can fault these men and women who go out daily wearing body armor to serve and protect is living under a rock. They deserve the peace of mind knowing their loved ones will be taken care of.

Deputy Thomas Funk and Sheriff Mike Lewis are on the record presenting these very facts to the County Council over a year ago. This was right after Deputy Funk was shot by a very violent felon. The County stated the disability was "better" then L.E.O.P.S. and attempts to discredit these men came soon after. The fact is the disability fails in so many ways. I suggest all county employees take a hard look at what the county offers in the way of work related disability. People you will not be able to thrive on the benefit. Your family will suffer if you are injured working for the county.

I think some people in Human Resources owe a huge apology to Sheriff Mike Lewis and Deputy First Class Funk. These are men of integrity who presented hard facts to the council and were discredited by a member of the Human Resources Office. I am not saying it was intentional, but just the same it happened.

Joe thank you for putting this information out there. The truth will come out and I can assure you the F.O.P. will continue to fight for the benefits these men and women deserve. Again thank you for getting news out that the liberal media refuses to print.

Here's Another Great Reason To Vote Out LIBERALS In November

TELL THE MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING COMMISSION: REVOKE MIKE LEWIS' CERTIFICATION

Wicomico County, Maryland Sheriff Mike Lewis recently made headlines in the state when he suggested he might not enforce new state gun laws that he believed were unconstitutional, despite court rulings to the contrary.

Sheriff Lewis then took things a step further, threatening “civil war” if the federal government attempted to enforce gun laws in Wicomico County. Speaking to News21 in August of 2014, Lewis stated:

As long as I’m the sheriff in this county, I will not allow the federal government to come in here and strip my citizens of their right to bear arms. I can tell you this, if they attempt to do that, it would be an all-out civil war, no question about it.

Despite these comments, Sheriff Lewis is still certified as an instructor by the Maryland Police Training Commission, a state agency with a mission of “ensur[ing] the quality of law enforcement…through the establishment and enforcement of standards and the facilitation and delivery of training, education and prevention programs.”

A Letter To The Editor: Conway - Anderton debate

Joe,

Today I watched Mayor Carl Anderton thoroughly debunk the myth that Delegate Conway has been a good representative for our area. The differences between the two were stark. Anderton offered details. He gave the audience accurate unemployment numbers for both Wicomico County and the Salisbury area. He gave two different job creation initiatives. He talked about how Conway goes along with budget increases, new taxes, increasing old taxes, the rain tax. I learned that the state has raises $9 billion in new taxes but turned around and spent $10 billion. How in the world do you increase spending by $9 billion and still run a structural deficit? And if Norm is so powerful in Annapolis, why didn't he stop any of this? Where is his power? Sounds like a crock to me.

Back to the debate. Why did Anderton offer two job creation plans?

Because he’s a smart enough leader to know that it doesn’t matter how good the plan is, if the Governor vetoes it. So he had a plan designed for a Hogan administration and a plan designed for a Brown administration. To me, that shows great foresight. Conway had no answer. Why didn't the Daily Times print this?

What did Conway offer?

He read from a prepared statement. Delegate Conway should thank his lucky stars that there was no Q&A portion, because Anderton was obviously knowledgeable and had a grasp of all the issues with data to back it up. However, I did learn that Conway was a lifelong resident of the eastern shore (so is Carl) and that he was friends with many fine people who are no longer in public service. That was about it. Norm’s argument seemed to be that people should vote for him because he’s an incumbent. He offered zero in plans to help create jobs. Zero details on how to curb spending. Zero details on taxes. Zero defense of raising taxes on people during the worst economic environment since the great depression. All he had was stories. I was shocked, disappointed and a bit angry. Who could possibly vote for that his non-platform or his record of tax and fee increases and job killing policies?

What else did Mayor Anderton offer?

His personal cell phone number, while Norm Conway said that email was “the wave of the future” (even Jeremy Cox’s slanted article couldn’t resist mentioning that ridiculous statement). Carl is the rare public servant that puts his personal cell phone number on every piece of literature he hands out. If Conway thinks email is “the wave of the future” I’m not sure he even has a cell phone. Conway also said that he talked to the Montgomery County delegation meeting and said he wanted to the eastern shore to be a part of the "silicone valley of the east".

How do you suppose a delegate who believes that email is "the waive of the future" will bring tech jobs?

In addition, Carl is responsive to the residents of Delmar and if anyone has a problem they can and do call him directly. You don’t have to email a generic email address and get a form letter back from a staffer. You don’t have to call a person in his office and wait for a response. While Jim Perdue recently made news wondering why the poultry industry doesn’t have a “seat at the table” I wonder why Norm Conway has never given the residents of Wicomico County a seat at the table!

This is my takeaway:

Delegate Norm Conway is living in the past, has no plan to create a better future for the eastern shore and could never be counted on to bring tech jobs to the area.

Mayor Anderton is passionate about being our representative, is engaged, engaging, knowledgeable, and has a plan to bring sorely needed jobs to our area.

I’m voting for Mayor Carl Anderton and I hope your readers will as well.

Aurora, Colo., Theater Shooter James Holmes Converts To Islam

The man who shot up an Aurora, Colo., movie theater during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” last summer has reportedly converted to Islam and prays up to five times a day.

A prison source say the beard James Holmes sported in court last months represents his new-found faith. The source said Mr. Holmes has turned Muslim as a way of justifying his horrific crimes on July 20 which left 12 people dead and 58 people wounded, the Daily Mail reports.

“He has brainwashed himself into believing he was on his own personal jihad and that his victims were infidels,” the source told the National Enquirer.

"Everybody Blames Obama When Gas Prices Go Up"

But no one seems to appreciate or recognize Obama when gas prices go down.

Well, this might be true. HOWEVER, November is quickly closing in, elections are just around the corner and what I personally see as unfortunate is the fact that IF it is possible to LOWER the prices, wouldn't people drive more if gas was a lot less?

There's always an ulterior motive. Stock up while you can.

Passion Vs. Defense

Last night at the Senior Center in Ocean City a large group of Seniors gathered for what can only be described as the most exciting evening they've enjoyed in a very long time.

While Jim Mathias tried calling Mike McDermott arrogant and yelling, the crowd immediately responded by bursting out, "He's Passionate".

Mike McDermott spoke loudly, determined, without a microphone as it was blasting in everyone's ears whenever Mathias spoke. So Mike simply spoke clearly so that the Seniors could hear him.

Throughout the two hour experience, McDermott received an overwhelming applause from the audience. I personally didn't know what to expect because when I pulled up there were cars everywhere in the parking lot with Mathias magnets on them. My guess is that most of them were pulled off their vehicles by the end of the evening because the majority were siding with McDermott.

One of the questions the audience asked was why Mathias supported "Affordable Healthcare".

Jim Mathias stood up and told everyone, because it's law. YOU had the opportunity to not vote for Obama the second time around and Healthcare was what he was running on. IF YOU voted for him and he won, that means the majority of Americans, (YOU) supported Affordable Healthcare. Because he won I chose to support YOU by backing Obama on this law.

McDermott immediately stood up, (after Mathias was done) and said, IF Jim Mathias actually represented YOU he would have realized that the MAJORITY here on the Eastern Shore, (in his district) did NOT support Obamacare/Affordable Healthcare. Therefore he just proved he doesn't represent YOU, he represents his PARTY.

My personal experience there was, Mathias was on the defense the entire evening. McDermott directly answered all questions without excuses and was never in a defense mode.

I really thought McDermott would be uncomfortable being that he was on Mathias' turf. That absolutely was not the case. I'm telling you, honestly, the majority of the crowd there not only supported McDermott, he got TWO standing ovations. ANYONE who was on the fence last night will be voting for Mike McDermott.

Chamber of Commerce May Have Given Conway Questions In Advance, AGAIN

Right now the Chamber of Commerce in Salisbury is hosting yet another forum between candidate Norm Conway and Carl Anderton.

Funny how Norm Conway is reading SCRIPTED answers and Anderton is not.

This organization can no longer be trusted and let me assure you, this is coming from a candidate who was OFFERED the questions in advance but I refused.

UPDATE: Carl Anderton is eating Norm Conway alive. You people need to familiarize yourselves with this young man. I have stated for many years now, Anderton is the future of politics for the Eastern Shore and today he is absolutely proving it. It looks like the Conway/Mathias run is pretty much over.

(Please consider sharing this information.)

For the second time in a week, a man impersonating a police officer has pulled over a female driver over.

The first incident occurred in Salisbury, Maryland on Route 50. The woman was severely beaten and required medical treatment at a trauma center.

The second incident occurred outside DC. The female in this incident was suspicious and requested a uniformed police officer to respond.

Police believe that these incidents are related. Police describe the vehicle as a dark colored unmarked Crown Victoria with lights in the dash driven by an black male in plain clothes.

Our advice:
- First, in Maryland, make sure the lights flashing in the "cop car" are blue, or red and blue. Police in Maryland are the ONLY people allowed to use BLUE lights. If there is no BLUE, DO NOT pull over!
- If you are being pulled over by an unmarked police car, and you are suspicious, turn your flashers on, call 911, and have them verify the authenticity of the police officer. Do not pull over until the officer has been verified.
- If you decide to pull over, LOCK your door, and CRACK your window. Ask for the officer's agency, badge, and if he is not in uniform, and ask that uniformed officer respond.
- Lastly, if the "officer" starts acting oddly when you ask to see his ID -- threatening you, behaving in a non-professional manner, pounding on your door, etc. -- seriously consider putting the car in gear and getting out of there. Tell the "officer" you are uncomfortable and that you will gladly follow him (or be escorted to) to the nearest police station.

Obama For Supreme Court? Liberal Law Professor Thinks So

Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe, a prominent constitutional scholar who taught President Barack Obama and supported his 2008 campaign, thinks Obama would be a great Supreme Court Justice after his presidential term is up.

Tribe made the comments during an interview with the law journal Coverage Opinions. “There are a lot of other reasons why Obama could someday end up a Supreme Court Justice,” the piece reads. “Obama has taught constitutional law. He is reported to be less than fond of political schmoozing. That is not a job requirement. And serving on the Supreme Court — thus in all three branches of the federal government — would have a huge impact on his legacy.”

Tribe enthusiastically agreed with the interviewer. “That’s not hard to envision,” he said. “He would make a first-rate Justice on every dimension that matters.”

Brown tells another whopper in first debate

ANNAPOLIS, MD – During the first gubernatorial debate of the general election season, which was taped this morning at WJZ Studios in Baltimore, Lt. Gov. Brown told his tallest tale yet when he accused Hogan of calling for a “$450 million cut to school construction.”

"There he goes again, confusing the facts," Hogan responded.

After the debate, Hogan refuted Brown’s latest baseless claim: “I have never called for a $450 million cut to school construction—ever,” said Hogan. “Lt. Gov. Brown cannot pull numbers out of thin air and attach my name to them. It’s just another example of how this career politician will say and do anything to get elected.”

“After eight years, it is clear Lt. Gov. Brown still does not understand the role of Maryland’s independent Office of Legislative Audits, which identifies potential for waste, fraud, and abuse in state government,” Hogan said. “The OLA has identified hundreds of millions of dollars in potential savings, which Anthony Brown has completely ignored.”

“Perhaps if Brown and O’Malley had listened to some of the suggestions of the OLA, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in today,” Hogan added.

Tune in to WJZ-TV (Ch. 13) or MPT at 7 p.m. this evening to watch the debate.

Michelle O’s Lunch Rules Add $1.22 BILLION In New Costs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The School Nutrition Association is claiming the new school lunch and snack regulations are causing administrative costs to explode and wants Congress to take action.

“The cost of meeting new federal nutrition standards for school meals will triple in Fiscal Year 2015,” according to the SNA.

“The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that the new school meal standards will force local school districts and states to absorb $1.22 billion in new food, labor and administrative costs in Fiscal Year 2015 alone,up from $362 million in additional costs in FY 2014,” the association notes, adding its own emphasis.

The spike in costs are related to the “healthy” National School Lunch Program overhaul championed by First Lady Michelle Obama.
