Just How Many Days Do Local Businesses Have To Take This Crap

When the Eastern Shore gets crippled by a Great Depression and the state decides it's going to use an extremely slow minority contractor to repair sidewalks, WHY do they not coordinate such repairs at NIGHT so these businesses can remain open?

When you start blocking off entrances like this, well, the tens of thousands of people diving by every day won't give you a second look. I feel for Vinny and ALL of the other businesses just trying to stay alive.

  1. Looks like they are replacing all of the storm drains on that side of rt 13, most of which goes on at night. Sidewalks appear to be replaced on new drains during the day. This should have been done in the summer.

  2. Not just local businesses, what about us, the tax payers that have to travel that road all the time.

  3. That's what happens when we elect a teacher to be mayor!

  4. Vinnys should sue the city.

  5. Vinny's biggest mistake was not sucking up to the Board of Ed and the Executives Office.

If he had he could be a very wealthy man. In fact he could be nicknamed Mr. Gift Card.

  6. Seems Vinny's ALso supports Mathias so I couldn't care less that the sidewalk is messed up.

  7. The original article states the primary issue...selection of a contractor by criteria other than capability to accomplish the task as contracted.....

  8. Sorry, everybody, but Business 13 is a State roadway.

  9. 1:30 The mayor has nothing to do with a state road.

  10. Remind them State work that is contracted... It will be done when its complete! Duh!!!

No, it will be finished when the union says it is, and not before.

  14. The other day one guy was working and four or five were standing there watching?

  15. The State Highway Administration (SHA) has to co-ordinate with city officials and local contractors as to how and when this will be completed. Yes, it's a burden on everyone at the time the roads and drains are being repaired, but the complaints are Endless and Loud prior to work getting started and then completed. So, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. It should be finished up soon and then for all you complainers out there, you can start complaining about the work that is to be done on North 13.

  16. Karma Vinny! Cheat your customers, and this is what happens!

  17. I don't think Vinny actually tries to cheat his customers. He just serves food that is...umm...not that great?

  18. This project has nothing to do with the county or the city it is a state roads project. The contractor is a "we will pay you when we damn well feel like paying you contractor"! I have first hand knowledge because I have done work for them on this project and will never again make that mistake! They are SLOW and do not care how their actions affect other people involved

  19. 8:32 were they awarded the contract because they're good and the price was right or because they're a minority contractor?

  20. 8:06 That was uncalled for, just because you don't like it don't mean its bad food, They have been around a long time, must not be to bad.

  21. It wouldn't hurt for Vinny to be closed for a few days. So he could clean that filthy place.

  22. 10:24pm you are an idiot! That has nothing to to with these common s.o.b.'s paying there bills which is what 8:32pm was referring to. Who cares about them being low price or a minority contractor as long as the job is done correctly.

    1. 7:48 the purpose of the question was to determine why the contractor has the job. Apparently they don't know what they're doing or they'd be done by now. They could have been awarded the contract simply because they're a minority contactor and not due to merit. Sounds to me that you're an idiot and the comment clearly went over you intelligence level.

  23. We ate at Vinnys and it was dark, dirty, and nothing special. They don't change the table clothes!!! Yuck!!!

  24. Sounds like 7:48 is either stupid or has no knowledge of the situation. THE "JOB" IS OBVIOUSLY NOT BEING DONE CORRECTLY! Had it been done CORRECTLY it would be done by now. Wake up!

  25. You would think these businesses would welcome your business. I called in an order to lil Caesar's went to pick it up, the order was screwed up and I asked about it and the front counter person, quote"its not my area, I work up front not in the back." When I walked in a women seated up front was complaining how long she had been waiting. One other person left while I was there complaining about their order? So it's a two way street.

  26. It's interesting the road crew waited ALL SUMMER when college was not in session and then bam, school's in, let's tear up 13 -- and for what, God only knows. It's not like they can make the highway bigger there. There's absolutely no wiggle room so what's the deal? It is just another way for city hall to jerk people around and try as they can to destroy local businesses from making money. What do they care? Right!
