SFD Calls For Service 5-24-14
One Blogger Mentally Challenged
I got a phone call not long ago telling me that JT put up an article about the Daily Times and their spending practices.
It seems this Idiot, (once again) just couldn't accept that Salisbury News was WEEKS ahead of anyone else on this information and because it is gaining popularity, he has to put in his mentally challenged two cents.
I say mentally challenged because when you look at the BOE and the Executives Office expenses, IT IS FUNDED BY THE TAXPAYERS.
JT, (so I'm told) is going after the DT's expenses. A PRIVATELY HELD/OWNED COMPANY. They have NOTHING to do with taxpayers and the DT's only has to be accountable to the owner of the company and the IRS.
So please, someone help me out here. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GUY DOING? Did I miss something here? In fact, their expenses are PRIVATE and NOT public information. I'm starting to smell a lawsuit and I hope they do go after JT for possibly stealing corporate inside information.
Being that JT is already on disability and collecting monthly checks for alleged physical problems, he may be eligible for a mental illness check to boot. In fact, after today I'm confident he qualifies.
My guess is this will be yet another one of those posts he puts up and then takes down because it shows just how stupid this guy is and or because he lied and possibly broke the law..

The Daily Times Finally Gets On Board
You have to give them credit, at least they're covering a very important story for once.
Salisbury News has been delivering detailed expenses within the Board of Education and the County Executive's Office.
Because of the popularity of that information we clearly placed pressure on at least one other local news source to start covering their side/view of these expenses. It's unfortunate WMDT and WBOC still haven't picked up on it.
Even though the Daily Times is more than SIX WEEKS behind Salisbury News, we feel it is just as important their viewers are informed.
Yesterday they covered the Board of Education and today they covered the County Executive. For those of you who have read these two articles, do you feel they were fair or do you think they favored Fredericksen and Pollitt?

NFL to Democrats: Thanks For The Letter, But The Redskins Are Keeping Their Name
But will they stand firm if the left turns up the heat?
It's encouraging as far as it goes that the NFL did not immediately wilt under pressure from Democrat senators to change the name of the Redskins. They could have pulled an Adam Silver and immediately leapt in reverence of their politically correct masters, and they didn't do that. One cheer, I guess, for the NFL:

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has opposed the name change, and his team has launched its own public relations campaign issuing comments by Native Americans that continue to support the name.
The NFL has stood behind Snyder and issued its own response Thursday to the news of the senators' letter.
"We have not received the letter, but the NFL has long demonstrated a commitment to progressive leadership on issues of diversity and inclusion, both on and off the field," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement. "The intent of the team's name has always been to present a strong, positive and respectful image. The team name is not used by the team or the NFL in any other context, though we respect those that view it differently."
Busy Cruisin’ Weekend Launches Summer Season With Huge Crowds, Major Traffic Backups; City Officials, Promoter To Review Event
OCEAN CITY — A lively debate ensued among the business and residential sectors this week over the Cruisin’ event with critics maintaining it needs major changes and supporters welcoming it as one of the busiest times of the year.
Throughout the course of the weekend and early part of the week, Ocean City residents vented on social media their frustrations over massive traffic backups, infrastructure damage to roads caused by the thousands of classic cars in town spinning out and the massive amounts of litter left behind by irresponsible visitors. In fact, one long-time Ocean City resident described the event in a letter to the editor as “broken” and in need of massive changes before the town hosts it again.
“Why are these people allowed to flaunt our laws? We have an ordinance for noise (broken), an ordinance against public drinking (broken), an ordinance against speeding and reckless driving (broken), and an ordinance against illegal trailer parking (broken). I wouldn’t want to be the one to explain our hypocrisy to visitors charged with those same violations later on this summer,” wrote resident Gabriel Mancini. “The business of Ocean City, that is to say, our image, our “brand”, is suffering from this ill-planned, poorly executed event. How many people didn’t come down because of the Cruisers? How many people will never be back? This weekend was an embarrassment to the Town of Ocean City.”

Unanimous Recall Vote Approves Salisbury Port Strategic Plan
SALISBURY –Working on a tight budget, the Wicomico County Council was hesitant to fund a study to analyze what the market would bear to expand the Port of Salisbury, but officials ultimately did agree to provide matching funds for a state grant.
A resolution authorizing the County Executive to accept a grant award from the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) in the amount of $26,500 and appropraite matching funds in the same amount approached the County Council on Tuesday morning.
The resolution reads, “The Department of Public Works desires to prepare a local economic development Strategic Plan to develop the River port, and has submitted an application to DBED and has been awarded a grant in the amount of $26,500, with required local funding in the amount of $26,500, for a total cost of $53,000.”

Muslims Crucify Two Teen Boys for Being Christians
In another example of Islamic savagery, rebels in Syria (President Obama’s allies, remember?) have tortured and murdered many Christians in recent days. The reports of their violence are escaping the war torn nation in whispers and hushed rumor.
One such rumor comes out of the town of Maalouli, which is just north of Syria. Reports state that two young Christian boys were tortured and crucified by a Muslim mob for refusing to renounce Christianity. One of the young men was crucified in front of his father, who was then also murdered by the Muslim monsters. A similar incident took place just a few months ago - it seems crucifixion is becoming a favorite method of murder for the Islamists.

Even if you're not Catholic
When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no hospitals. Today, one out of five people in this country receive their medical care at a Catholic hospital.
When the Catholic Church was founded, there were no schools. Today, the Catholic Church teaches 3 million students a day, in its more than 250 Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High Schools and its more than 5000 Catholic grade schools.
Everyday, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than any other organization in the world.
The new Obama Health Mandate could end all this and the tax payers would have to make up the loss. Also, all Catholic adoption services would come to an end a human disaster.
There are more than 77 million Catholics in this country. It takes an estimated 50 million Catholic votes to elect a president. I am asking all of you to go to the polls in 2014 and be united in replacing all Senators and Reps with someone who will respect the Catholic Church, all Christians, and all Religions with the exception of Islam.
**Mr. President, you said**, "The USA is not a Christian Nation". You are 100% wrong we are a Christian Nation founded on Judeo-Christian values allowing all religions in America to Worship & Practice Freely. Something Islam will never do.
Oh, by the way, on MUSLIM HERITAGE IN America ....
Have you ever been to a Muslim hospital?
Have you heard a Muslim orchestra?
Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade?
Have you witnessed a Muslim charity?
Have you seen Muslims shaking hands with a Muslim Girl Scouts?
Have you seen a Muslim Candy Striper?*
Have you ever seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life?*

Chipotle pleads with customers to leave firearms outside
Fast-food chain Chipotle has asked its customers not to bring firearms into its stores after it says gun rights advocates brought assault rifles into one of its restaurants in Texas.
The Denver-based organisation has said it traditionally complied with local laws regarding open and concealed firearms.
But in a statement yesterday, the company said 'the display of firearms in our restaurants has now created an environment that is potentially intimidating or uncomfortable for many of our customers.'

Citing N.B.A. Example, Senators Urge N.F.L. to Act on Redskins’ Name
WASHINGTON — Fifty members of the Senate have signed a letter to the N.F.L. to urge its leadership to press the Washington Redskins to change the team name in the aftermath of tough sanctions against the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers for racially charged comments.
The position embraced by half of the Senate, and the willingness of the lawmakers to sign a formal request to Commissioner Roger Goodell, escalated the fight over the name and represented an effort to put increasing pressure on the league, which receives a federal tax break, and the ownership of the team.
“The N.F.L. can no longer ignore this and perpetuate the use of this name as anything but what it is: a racial slur,” said the letter, which was circulated by Senator Maria Cantwell, Democrat of Washington, and endorsed by Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, the majority leader. “We urge the N.F.L. to formally support a name change for the Washington football team.”

TIMOTHY R. BRUMBLEY CONVICTED OF HOMICIDE BY MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL
On May 21, 2014, Timothy Roland Brumbley, age 49 (D.O.B. 09/19/64), of Wicomico County, Maryland, was convicted after a jury trial in the Wicomico County Circuit Court of Homicide by Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol Per Se, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Per Se, Negligent Driving, and other traffic offenses.
On February 19, 2013, a Delmar Police Officer and tow truck were assisting a disabled tractor trailer on North Bound Route 13, just North of Connelly Mill Road. The Defendant, driving a Silver Honda Accord struck the tow truck and then a guard rail causing extensive damage to both the tow truck and the Defendant’s vehicle. When Cpl. Keith Hecook from the Delmar Police Department made contact with the Defendant he exhibited signs that he was under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, there were several empty cans of beer present in the vehicle’s driver and passenger compartment. The Defendant had two male passengers in his vehicle who sustained injuries in the crash, one of whom was Thomas M. Hitch, age 54, of Salisbury, Maryland. All three men were transported by ambulance to P.R.M.C. for treatment. Ultimately, because of the seriousness of his injuries, Thomas Hitch was transported by helicopter to University Hospital (Shock Trauma) in Baltimore, Maryland. Hitch died at University Hospital on February 24, 2013 from the injuries that he sustained in the crash.
The Defendant’s blood was drawn at P.R.M.C. the night of the crash and the blood sample was analyzed by the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division to determine his blood alcohol concentration. Upon analysis, the Defendant’s blood was found to contain an alcohol concentration of 0.19 grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood.
The Court ordered a short-form Pre-Sentence Investigation upon accepting the jury’s verdict and revoked the Defendant’s bond placing him in the Wicomico County Detention Center pending sentencing. Sentencing will occur in approximately 30 days. The Defendant was previously convicted of Driving while Intoxicated in 1993 and of Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol in 2000.

Cummings, Other Democrats To Participate In Benghazi Committee
House Democrats will participate in the special, Republican-led select committee investigating the deadly 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, despite serious concerns within the party that the inquiry is an election-year ploy to energize core GOP voters.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced on Wednesday that she will appoint the full complement of five Democrats on the 12-member panel, tapping lawmakers who have been deeply involved in previous congressional investigations of the Sept. 11, 2012 assault on the U.S. diplomatic outpost.
Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, died in the attack when militants stormed the mission. Republicans have accused the Obama administration of misleading Americans about a terror attack weeks before the election.
"I believe we need someone in that room to simply defend the truth," Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the top Democrat on the Oversight panel, told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference.

Wrongly Convicted Former Track Star Reflects On Death Penalty Abolition
Immediately after the judge declared him guilty, the courtroom erupted and the chanting began.
“Give him the gas and kill his ass! Give him the gas and kill his ass!”
Kirk Bloodsworth, an honorably discharged Marine who aspired to attend this university on a track scholarship, was convicted of the brutal 1984 rape and murder of 9-year-old Dawn Hamilton — a girl he had never met. At 23 years old, he was the most hated man in the state, he said.
But he was innocent.
This month marks one year since this state became the latest of 18 states to abolish the death penalty — an anniversary that holds special meaning for Bloodsworth, who championed the movement after spending almost nine years in a state penitentiary, two of them on death row, before being released in 1993.

NAACP Officials, Supporters Fire Back At Sussex Council
Sussex County councilmen Sam Wilson and Vance Phillips came under fire from NAACP members and others during the May 20 meeting.
Reaction was strong to comments made by the two councilmen during and after the May 13 meeting regarding a $500 councilmanic grant to the Lower Sussex NAACP Youth Council.
During discussion about the grant, Wilson said he did not know what NAACP stood for. “Take my name off. I’m not giving anything unless you describe what that says. What does NAACP stand for?” asked Wilson, R-Georgetown. “I don’t understand. We are voting for something we don’t know what it stands for. It sounds like discrimination to me."
Phillips, R-Laurel, voted for the grant but said the organization was directed at a certain race. "It strikes me as inappropriate in this day of racial equality," he said.

A Letter To The Editor: "Moment of Silence"
I would say the wrong choice was made 5 years ago. I will give a copy of this and all my other emails to Bob Culver and the blog sbynews. With proof showing Mackes and Polltit were very aware of the ramifications of there actions or lack of actions from as long as 3 years ago. 99,000$ from the taxpayers when you were told about this problem years ago. You still have done nothing to change the program that's the best part of the whole story. You two schmucks continue to destroy a program then turn around and ask the taxpayers for 1 million dollars and continue to operate the program as if nothing is wrong with it. You two are going to be the laughing stock of Wicomico county. This election can't come soon enough.
It's been a year almost to the day since our last email. In which you said you would get back to me and to be patient things like this take time. None of you contacted me with a resolution to the program. Your Window of opportunity has closed for you to rejuvenate the softball program. It closed about a year ago.
Sorry,
Trey Stokely

You ask for patience. I have emailed you starting 5 years ago regarding this program. Nothing has been done in 5 years. You have actually raised the rates from what they were 5 years ago. If you or anyone else can afford for the county to lose the revenue from the activities that take place at Henry S. Parker complex then continue to take no action continue to hold meetings about what your going to do next year. I implore you to take action show the current members of the league your not doing nothing show them you care about the future of where their kids will play and grow into honest tax paying adults. Show them you care that there will be 25 teams this weekend that will pay thousands of dollars on hotels foods and other locally owned businesses that will all be returned to Wicomico county. I cannot stress enough the amount of money that will be lost the amount of people that will lose employment because you want patience. Again this will be my last email to your county I have made my point as clear as I can make it. I apologize for using up your time.
You can continue to do nothing and lose everything.
You can choose to take action and try to save a program that needs saving.
The choice is yours.
Hope you make the choice you and your county can live with/afford.

Trey,
As we work on solutions, it’s important to know Wicomico County is challenged by the recent recession and tax revenue cap imposed by the citizens over 10 years ago. Due to declining tax revenue the County had to reduce subsidy to schools, roads, police, etc.
Recreation and parks was no different as funding was reduced by $250,000, over 33%. On a cost per citizen basis, our department receives about $11/citizen and is the lowest of the 8 Eastern Shore Counties. The 8 county average is $23/citizen.
It’s unfortunate fees needed to be increased to continue services.
Funding reductions gave us 3 alternatives, eliminate programs, close parks or increase fees! We chose the latter.
As I conveyed in an email to you on Saturday, we’re looking into alternatives. In the mean time I suggest being patient until you hear from us.
Gary W. Mackes

Again this will be my last email to your county I have made my point as clear as I can make it. I apologize for using up your time.
You can continue to do nothing and lose everything.
You can choose to take action and try to save a program that needs saving.
The choice is yours.
Hope you make the choice you and your county can live with/afford.

Thank you for your first real response in 5 years.

Trey,
As we work on solutions, it’s important to know Wicomico County is challenged by the recent recession and tax revenue cap imposed by the citizens over 10 years ago.

Wicomico County Council Decides Not To Change The New Housing Tax
At a work session held this afternoon, it was apparent that the suggestion by Councilmen Culver and Joe Holloway to reduce or suspend that County’s “impact fee” on new homes is a dead duck with the current Council majority. Led by Stevie Prettyman, the majority was not receptive to even a partial reduction.
Instead, it sounds like they favor the proposal by the Pollitt administration to subsidize the impact fee by using county funds to give “grants” to cover the fee, although the precise details were not decided upon at the work session. However, it appears that to offset the heavy burden put on the construction and sale of new homes, the tax will be paid by the general public in FY 2015, but it may require that Mr. Pollitt’s proposed budget must be revised for that purpose.
Other counties and many towns, including Salisbury and Fruitland, have already reduced their impact fees or imposed a complete moratorium, and Dorchester County is in the process of deciding whether to suspend its excise tax on development. If it does, none of the surrounding counties will have any special charge on development.

TASK FORCE DISRUPTS SIGNIFICANT DRUG DISTRIBUTION NETWORK ON EASTERN SHORE
(CENTREVILLE, MD) – A combined local, state and federal law enforcement partnership has led to the disruption of a cocaine distribution network operating throughout the Upper Eastern Shore and the arrests of two dozen suspects.
Police believe three suspects were involved in directing the operation. The first suspect is identified as Adrian L. Reed, aka “Slick,” 37, of the 2200-block of Pondtown Road, Chestertown, Md. He was arrested May 12, 2014 and charged on a 35 count indictment of drug related charges including conspiring to import cocaine into the state, conspiring to distribute cocaine, conspiring to possess cocaine, conspiring to manufacture cocaine, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He is currently being held on $250,000 bond.
The second suspect is identified as Baraka Z. Chauka, aka “Rock,” 37, of the 1400-block of Barclay Road, Barclay, Md. He was arrested May 19, 2014 and charged on a multiple count indictment of drug related charges including conspiring to import cocaine into the state, conspiring to possess cocaine, conspiring to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
The third suspect is identified as Carlos J. Cain, aka “Cain,” 40, of the 100-block of Washington Street, Centreville, Md. He was arrested May 8, 2014 and charged on an indictment with conspiring to import cocaine into the state, conspiring to possess cocaine, and conspiring to distribute cocaine. He is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
The more than six month investigation began in the fall of 2013 when the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force, the Maryland State Police, the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, and the Queen Anne’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, began an intense investigation of a cocaine distribution ring operating in Queen Anne’s County. During the investigation, it was learned the three suspects listed above were importing large amounts of powder and crack cocaine from Delaware and Pennsylvania into Queen Anne’s County.
Investigators believe they were importing and distributing more than three pounds of cocaine within a two month period. They were then using a network of distributors to sell the cocaine in Queen Anne’s, Kent, and Caroline counties.
During the ensuing investigation, police served 18 search warrants in Maryland and two in Delaware. Police obtained felony indictments on 14 persons, including the three listed above. In addition, police made six on-view felony arrests and four on-view misdemeanor arrests. They recovered more than $14,000 in drug related money and eight vehicles believed to be involved in, or the fruits of, the drug operation. Police recovered various amounts of marijuana, powdered and crack cocaine, and heroin.
The Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Maryland State Police, The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, the Queen Anne’s County Office of the State’s Attorney, the Centreville Police Department and the Maryland Natural Resources Police, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations.
Investigations like this one highlight the multi-jurisdictional nature of drug crimes and how the close working relationship between the Maryland State Police, the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and numerous allied law enforcement partners both in and out of Maryland, are helping stem the flow of illegal drugs coming into Queen Anne’s County.

Tennessee city creates law that makes wearing saggy pants illegal
Standards - and pants - have been slipping in the Tennessee city of Pikeville, where the mayor has decided things have gotten as low as they can go.
Mayor Phil Cagle is the author of an ordinance that will soon see anyone wearing their pants 'more than three inches below the top of the hips' fined for public indecency.
Pikeville is just the latest place in the U.S. to take issue with where young men position their trousers.

College Wins US Debate Championship By Repeating the N-Word Over and Over, Speaking Incomprehensibly
On March 24, Towson University won the 2014 Cross Examination Debate Association’s national championship. Towson defeated the University of Oklahoma. What was Towson’s strategy? Inexplicably using the N-word over and over again in an incomprehensible tirade.
Here is an actual excerpt (with profanity redacted). See if you are able to tell what Towson is arguing in favor or against:
They say the n*****s always already qu***, that’s exactly the point! It means the impact is that the that the is the impact term, uh, to the afraid, uh, the, that it is a case term to the affirmative because, we, uh, we’re saying that qu*** bodies are not able to survive the necessarily means of the body. Donald Sterling’s Response to NBA’s Deadline on Ownership Decision
The NBA charged Donald Sterling on Monday with damaging the league and its teams with his racist comments, setting up a June 3 hearing after which owners could vote to terminate his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers.
The league also said the banned owner has engaged in other conduct that has impaired its relationship with fans and merchandising partners.
“All of these acts provide grounds for termination under several provisions of the NBA constitution and related agreements,” the league said in a statement.

Michelle Obama Would Like Students to Monitor Family Members for Racial Insensitivity
First lady Michelle Obama is encouraging students to monitor their older relatives, friends and co-workers for any racially insensitive comments they might make, and to challenge those comments whenever they’re made.
The first lady spoke on Friday to graduating high school students in Topeka, Kansas, and in remarks released over the weekend, Obama said students need to police family and friends because federal laws can only go so far in stopping racism.
“[O]ur laws may no longer separate us based on our skin color, but nothing in the Constitution says we have to eat together in the lunchroom, or live together in the same neighborhoods,” she said. “There’s no court case against believing in stereotypes or thinking that certain kinds of hateful jokes or comments are funny.”

Dianne Feinstein calls GOP push for more Benghazi probes a 'lynch mob'
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein has called the demand by Capitol Hill Republicans for more Benghazi investigations a "lynch mob," saying the matter already has received sufficient congressional oversight.
"I think it's ridiculous. I think it's a hunting mission for a lynch mob," said the California Democrat during an interview with CNN's "State of the Union" that aired Sunday.
Feinstein said several congressional committees, including her own, already have investigated the 2012 attacks that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. And despite Republican accusations that the Obama administration has lied about its response to the attacks, she suggested those reports showed no maleficence by the White House.

The Doctors Note
This past weekend I unfortunately broke some bones in my hand. I've been told by the Doctor I cannot use my right hand for four weeks, NOT.
Nevertheless, trying to do ANYTHING on the computer is not only extremely slow, it's actually quite painful at the moment.
That being said, I will do my best to publish stories but I'm going to slow things down a little bit until I'm more comfortable.
Thanks for understanding.
