Late Sen. Byrd’s FBI Files Reveal CIA Leak Uproar

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd obtained secret FBI documents about the civil rights movement that were leaked by the CIA and triggered an angry confrontation between the two agencies in the 1960s, according to newly released FBI records.

Byrd, who died in June 2010 at age 92, had sought the FBI intelligence while suspecting that communists and subversives were guiding the civil rights cause, the records show. Decades before he became history’s longest-serving member of Congress, or gained the title “King of Pork” for sending federal funds to West

Virginia, the Democrat had stalled and voted against major civil rights legislation in the mid-1960s.
He also belonged to the Ku Klux Klan while a young man in the 1940s, and the FBI cited that membership while weighing his requests for classified information, the records show.

Atheists Continue Threats Over ‘Unconstitutional’ RI Firehouse Cross & WWII Memorial (But City Isn’t Backing Down!)

Months after atheists first demanded that a World War I and II monument be removed from in front of a Woonsocket, Rhode Island, fire hall, the debate is nowhere near over. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), the atheist group at the center of the debate, is refusing to back down, as citizens continue to defend the monument’s presence. In a second letter to local leaders, the FFRF is, once again, urging officials to remove the cross.

In April, TheBlaze first reported about the group’s demand that the monument be removed from public lands. As you may recall, one week after the story broke, a fierce response erupted, with an estimated 1,500 people assembling against atheists’ demands and in support of the monument.

Obama and Romney Should Debate Lincoln-Douglas-Style

The presidential and vice-presidential debates will be held in October. While political observers and enthusiasts look forward to this, many Americans view the debates as the bane of their existence.

Modern political debates rely heavily on scripted questions and short buzz clips designed to upset an opponent’s demeanor. Language and prose are no longer important tools. It’s simply a matter of who can generate the most meaningful attack for the evening news. That’s why people switch the TV channel so often during presidential debates or don’t watch them at all.

However, there’s a ray of hope. Last week, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced a major change to the debate format. According to Washington Times reporter David Hill, “three of its four debates this October will include time blocks of as long as 15 minutes during which candidates will debate a single topic.” This is an exciting development because the new format hopefully will encourage each presidential candidate to provide well-thought-out answers to difficult questions. For the first time in a long time, intellectual discourse will replace buzz clips at a presidential debate.

Company That Dumped Limbaugh Over ‘Flukegate’ Admits: Yeah, That Hurt us More Than we Expected it Would

Remember when the mainstream media and leftists everywhere flew into a rage because Rush Limbaugh associated 30-year-old Georgetown student Sandra Fluke with a rude word?

Do you also remember when the CEO of long-time Limbaugh sponsor Carbonite announced that his company could no longer associate itself with the EIB Network? Sure you do:

No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency.

$465 for Amnesty: Obama to Make Illegals Legal Before Election Day

There's no question America's immigration policy, especially with respect to Mexico, is a mess and in need of reform. The lines are too long and the process is something Kafka might have designed. And as someone who would definitely sneak across any border if it meant a better life for myself and my wife in America, I have no desire to deport the illegals currently among us who have stayed out of trouble and truly embraced the American dream. There's a way to make this work (but only after we forever seal the border).

But as someone married to a woman born in Mexico, who as a young woman waited in line and followed the law to earn a citizenship she cherishes more than almost anything -- the thought of allowing line-jumpers is maddening enough. But for Obama to do this for divisive, cynical, political reasons -- that he is CHOOSING to ignore the law of the land he swore an oath to uphold -- is perfectly outrageous.

Former NAACP Leader Defies Racial Politics In New Movie, 'Runaway Slave'

If Barack Obama weren’t black, would most black voters really have reason to support him?

Rev. C.L. Bryant, a former chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, is boldly challenging whether the expanding government programs and progressive ideals espoused by Obama and his allies are actually helpful to black people or whether “the sons and daughters of former slaves traded one form of slavery for yet another.”

“Black people are very uninformed,” Bryant told WND, one of the key reasons he has made “Runaway Slave,” a powerful new movie blowing the lid off racial politics.

Chicago: One of US's Least Gun-Friendly Cities Now One of World's Deadliest

The city of Chicago is one of the least gun-friendly cities in America, if not the least gun-friendly altogether. The city went decades with an all-out handgun ban, which necessarily took away the option of using such guns for self-defense, until the Supreme Court found the ban unconstitutional in 2010 (via McDonald v. Chicago).

VIRAL CHICK-FIL-A PICTURE CLAIMS CHRISTIANS DON’T FEED THE POOR — BUT WE HAVE PROOF TO THE CONTRARY

This week, hundreds of thousands of Americans rallied to support Chick-fil-A amidst a firestorm of controversy over the fast-food chain’s views on gay marriage. As Christians and free-speech advocates rose to defend the company’s right to stand in support of “traditional marriage,” some critics waged attacks on those lining up for the so-called Chick-fil-A buy-ins.
An image that was making its rounds on social media had a strong and condemning message for the mass number of Christians lining up at the restaurant.

Biofuels Boondoggle

The Pentagon pays less than two dollars a gallon for jet fuel.

Under President Obama's half a billion dollar 'green energy' initiative for the military the Navy spent $26 a gallon for biofuel made from algae.

Think that's expensive?  That's nothing.  The Air Force recently spent $59 a gallon for biofuel made from sugar.

The negative impact of using sugar for biofuels is that it causes a rise sugar prices, driving up the cost of thousands of food products.  Hitting every American family in the pocketbook.
