Leader of new U.S. Muslim party once jailed by Chris Christie

One of the leaders of a new Islamic political party promising to be a “game-changing force” in the 2016 elections was arrested and jailed by former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, who happens to be a GOP frontrunner in the 2016 race for the White House.

Mazen M. Mokhtar is a founding member of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, or USCMO, recently created to marshal together Islamic groups and throw their weight behind U.S. elections while grooming Muslim candidates for office.

Wearing a business suit and eyeglasses, the mild-mannered Mokhtar didn’t look or act like a dangerous man when he appeared with other Muslim leaders to launch the USCMO at a Washington press conference earlier this year.

Facebook Slams The Door On Political Campaigns

An upcoming code change means Obama’s groundbreaking 2012 outreach on the site won’t happen again

WASHINGTON —
Barack Obama’s reelection campaign pioneered a pathway for political campaigns to reach voters through Facebook when it released an app that helped supporters target their friends with Obama-related material.

But as the 2016 presidential campaign approaches, Facebook is rolling out a change that will prevent future campaigns from doing this, closing the door on one of the most sophisticated social targeting efforts ever undertaken.

“It’s a fairly significant shift,” said Teddy Goff, who was Obama’s digital director in 2012, and oversaw the effort that helped the Obama campaign gain a Facebook following of 45 million users that year. Goff’s team used Facebook and other tools to register more than a million voters online and to raise $690 million online in 2011 and 2012.

“The thing we did that will be most affected — by which I mean rendered impossible — by the changes they're making is the targeted sharing tool,” Goff said.

America’s Worst University Now Demands To Know Students’ Sex Habits OR THEY CAN’T ENROLL

Florida Atlantic University has found yet another new and exciting way to demonstrate that it is the worst place in America to attend college.

Officials at the taxpayer-funded school are now requiring students to declare how much sex they’ve had (including oral sex) and how many sexual partners they’ve had in the last few months, Campus Reform reports.

Students have reportedly been blocked from registering for courses unless they answered the invasive questions posed by the public school officials.

FBI Warns Ferguson Protesters May Target Electrical Facilities Or Water Treatment Plants

And the media would still call them “mostly peaceful.”

Via ABC News:

As the nation waits to hear whether a Missouri police officer will face charges for killing unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., the FBI is warning law enforcement agencies across the country that the decision “will likely” lead some extremist protesters to threaten and even attack police officers or federal agents.

Peaceful protesters could be caught in the middle, and electrical facilities or water treatment plants could also become targets. In addition, so-called “hacktivists” like the group “Anonymous” could try to launch cyber-attacks against authorities.

10 Supposedly ‘Naughty’ Companies That Are Censoring ‘Christmas,’ According to This Group

The American Family Association has released its “Naughty-or-Nice 2014 Retailer List,” an annual report that offers Christian consumers information about how companies market their products during the holiday season.

The conservative group rates brands on a color-coded scale, with the highest marks going to “5-star rated” businesses that both “promote and celebrate Christmas on an exceptional basis.” This year, some of the companies that fall under that category are Lowe’s, Sears, Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart.

On the lower end are companies that the American Family Association claims “use ‘Christmas’ sparingly in a single or unique product description” and that, overall, purportedly do not adequately recognize the holiday in newspaper advertisements and TV and radio spots.

Feminist Author Says Don’t Prosecute Football Players For Any Sexual Assault Because They Are All Black

Sometimes I read something that is so incredibly stupid, it makes my eyes bleed – this is one of those times. I don’t give a crap what color they are. These boys knowingly and deliberately sexually assaulted and hazed another boy. Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time. To let them off due to race is the height of lawlessness. Throw the damned book at them and let it serve as a warning to others that this type of barbaric, animalistic behavior will be subject to the full extent of the law and punishment will follow appropriately.

If it’s true that all seven of the football players arrested for hazing in the Sayreville, New Jersey, War Memorial High School locker roomare students of color, that is one more reason not to prosecute them as sexual felons.

I don’t mean not to prosecute them in adult court. I mean not to prosecute them at all.

If they’re guilty, they should be disciplined by the school, kicked off the Bombers team, and held accountable to their victims by making amends in words and deeds.

But the punishment the state will mete out far outweighs the transgression. For kids who are 15 to 17 years old, it will be life crushing.

ALL 50 STATES HIT FREEZING TEMPERATURES OR BELOW

All 50 U.S. states, including President Barack Obama’s home state of Hawaii, dropped to freezing or below on Tuesday, reports the National Weather Service.

Hawaii’s dormant volcano, Mauna Kea, experienced 30 F to 32 F temperatures.

In New York, western parts of the state had four feet of snow — and three towns near Buffalo had to declare states of emergency.

Northern Florida is bracing for record-smashing low temperatures expected to drop below 20 degrees F near the state’s capital.

Milwaukee’s high temperature was 20 degrees F.

The Real Reason Gas Prices Are Falling

American workers and motorists got some badly-needed relief this week when the price of oil plunged to its lowest level in years. The oil price has fallen by about 25 percent since its peak back in June of $105 a barrel. This is translating to lower prices at the pump with many states now below $3 a gallon.

At present levels, these lower oil and gas prices are the equivalent of a $200 billion cost saving to American consumers and businesses. That's $200 billion a year we don't have to send to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other foreign nations. Now that's an economic stimulus par excellence.

There are many global reasons why gas prices are falling, but the major one isn't being widely reported. America has become in the last several years an energy-producing powerhouse. And sorry, Mr. President, I'm not talking about the niche "green energy" sources you are so weirdly fixated with.

Oil prices are falling because of changes in world supply and world demand. Demand has slowed because Europe is an economic wreck. But since 2008 the U.S. has increased our domestic supply by a gigantic 50 percent. This is a result of the astounding shale oil and gas revolution made possible by made-in-America technologies like hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. Already thanks to these inventions, the US has become the number one producer of natural gas. But oil production in states like Oklahoma, Texas and North Dakota has doubled in just six years.

Imam insulted Christians, Jews in National Cathedral

Islam is hard-wired with a “conquering” mentality that dates back to its earliest days, says a noted author, and that mentality was on display Friday at the Washington National Cathedral.

Even in a service billed as a symbolic olive branch to Christianity, celebrated inside an iconic church, Islam’s air of supremacy could not help but leak out, says Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of several books on Islam including “The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims” in 2005 and “The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History” in 2008.

Not that anyone in the Episcopal cathedral cared to notice.

“After viewing Friday’s ostensible exercise in ‘ecumenism’ at the National Cathedral, it is impossible for me to discern whether the Christian event organizers are more ethically, or intellectually cretinous,” writes Bostom in his blog at AndrewBostom.org.

Think Obamacare’s Affordable? You’re Stupid

Before he became the Obama administration’s least favorite overpaid expert, MIT economist Jonathan Gruber was its darling. He appeared in an Obama campaign ad saying, “I helped (Massachusetts) Gov. (Mitt) Romney develop his health care reform, or Romneycare, before going down to Washington to help President Obama develop his national version of that law.” The false portrayal of Romneycare and Obamacare as practically identical fueled the Democratic delusion that Congress had drafted the Affordable Care Act to appeal to rascally Republicans.

Now Gruber is in the doghouse because he was captured on video being brutally honest. In 2010, Gruber told a panel, “Barack Obama’s not a stupid man, OK?” Obama knew the public doesn’t care about the uninsured, Gruber said. “What the American public cares about is costs. And that’s why even though the bill that they made is 90 percent health insurance coverage and 10 percent about cost control, all you ever hear people talk about is cost control.”

Ergo, candidate Obama’s 2008 promise that his universal health plan would “bring down premiums by $2,500 for the typical family.”

What happened to those savings? Josh Archambault, senior fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability, a free market think tank, answered, “We have not seen them yet.”

Neutering Religious Holidays

Folks, our country is heading down a slippery slope. We have to stop it before it is too late.

We haven’t even hit Thanksgiving, and already the war on Christmas is underway. This time, one of the largest public school systems in the U.S. is eliminating every mention of religious holidays on its official calendar.

The Montgomery County Board of Education in Maryland has cut Christmas and Easter, as well as Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana, from next year’s school calendar. No religious holiday will be mentioned by name.

NPR reported on the origin of the decision: “The path to the board’s decision started about two years ago on something that was somewhat unrelated. Members of the county’s Muslim community — roughly estimated at around 10 percent of the more than 1 million population — were seeking to have two of their religion’s holy days added to the calendar of days off. They wanted Eid al-Adha the most.”

Instead of adopting new religious days for Muslims, however, the board approved the removal of all Christian and Jewish religious holiday references by a 7-1 vote. The students will continue to get the same religious days off, but there will be generic references to them, such as “winter break.” Board members have even gone so far as to reinterpret the historical recognition of the holidays by saying that the days off are not meant to observe those religious holidays.

The board’s president, Phil Kauffman, explained, “The best way to accommodate the diversity of our community is to not make choices about which communities we’re going to respect in our calendar and which ones we’re not going to respect.”

UPDATE: Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash on State Route 24, Lewes

Lewes, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early this morning on SR24.

Preliminary investigation indicates the incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. Wednesday November 19, 2014 as Jason A. Jewell, 36 of Seaford was operating a 2002 Dodge Ram Van westbound on John J. Williams Highway (SR24) just east of Camp Arrowhead Road. William McCafferty, 75 of Lewes, was walking in a southwesterly direction on SR24 in the traffic lane without a flashlight and reflective or light colored clothing when he was struck by the van. After the impact, Mr. McCafferty was thrown into the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jewell was able to bring his vehicle to a controlled stop after the collision. He and his 33 year old male passenger from Seaford were not injured in the crash.

John J. Williams Highway (SR24) in the area of Camp Arrowhead Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this incident.

“Troopers remind pedestrians to use caution and safety when walking on or near roadways. If you must cross a roadway utilize appropriate cross walks and make sure to look left, then right, then left again before proceeding. When walking near a roadway always make yourself visible to drivers by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials. Pedestrians that are walking at night must carry a flashlight for added safety.”

Pitts, Harris Press NIH For Answers Regarding $2 Million Awarded to Dr. Jonathan Gruber

Congressman Harris is the only member of Congress who has performed research funded by the National Institutes of Health. He is the only physician serving on the Appropriations Committee and serves on the subcommittee that oversees NIH funding.

Ron Paul: Internet Gambling Ban A Losing Bet for the Rest of Us

Giving government new powers over the Internet will inevitably threaten all of our liberties

Cronyism is where politicians write laws aimed at helping their favored business beneficiaries. Despite public opposition to cronyism, politicians still seek to use the legislative process to help special interests.

For example, Congress may soon vote on legislation outlawing Internet gambling. It is an open secret, at least inside the Beltway, that this legislation is being considered as a favor to billionaire casino owner, Sheldon Adelson. Mr. Adelson, who is perhaps best known for using his enormous wealth to advance a pro-war foreign policy, is now using his political influence to turn his online competitors into criminals.

Supporters of an Internet gambling ban publicly deny they are motivated by a desire to curry favor with a wealthy donor. Instead, they give a number of high-minded reasons for wanting to ban this activity. Some claim that legalizing online gambling will enrich criminals and even terrorists! But criminalizing online casinos will not eliminate the demand for online casinos. Instead, passage of this legislation will likely guarantee that the online gambling market is controlled by criminals. Thus, it is those who support outlawing online gambling who may be aiding criminals and terrorists.

A federal online gambling ban would overturn laws in three states that allow online gambling. It would also end the ongoing debate over legalizing online gambling in many other states. Yet some have claimed that Congress must pass this law in order to protect states rights! Their argument is that citizens of states that ban Internet gambling may easily get around those laws by accessing online casinos operating in states where online gambling is legalized.

Even if the argument had merit that allowing states to legalize online gambling undermines laws in other states, it would not justify federal legislation on the issue. Nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government given any authority to regulate activities such as online gambling. Arguing that “states rights” justifies creating new federal crimes turns the Tenth Amendment, which was intended to limit federal power, on its head.

Gun Sales Explode Near Ferguson, MO In Advance Of Grand Jury Decision

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Some suburban St. Louis gun dealers have been doing brisk business, particularly among first-time buyers, as fearful residents await a grand jury's decision on whether to indict the police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown.

Metro Shooting Supplies, in an area near the city's main airport, reports selling two to three times more weapons than usual in recent weeks — an average of 30 to 50 guns each day — while the jury prepares to conclude its three-month review of the case that sparked looting and weeks of sometimes-violent protests in August.

"We're selling everything that's not nailed down," owner Steven King said. "Police aren't going to be able to protect every single individual. If you don't prepare yourself and get ready for the worst, you have no one to blame but yourself."

The store's waiting list for private lessons and concealed-carry training classes extends into 2015.

Sitting Ducks: British, Dutch Kill Poultry to Fight Bird Flu

Chickens were being killed in the Netherlands, and Britain was preparing to kill ducks, after two cases of bird flu were discovered in Europe — but officials insisted Monday that the risk to public health was very low.

British officials said they were investigating a case of the H5 bird flu virus in northern England, but noted it's not the more dangerous H5N1 strain. They said all 6,000 ducks at a breeding farm in the Driffield area of East Yorkshire will be killed and a restriction zone was being set up to prevent further spread of the infection. Tests were also being carried out at nearby farms.

The U.K. government food agency said there is no risk to the food chain and British Chief Veterinary Officer Nigel Gibbens told BBC the risk of the disease spreading is probably quite low.

It was the first bird flu outbreak in Britain in six years, officials said.

Dutch authorities identify highly contagious bird flu strain

Outbreak in South Korea meant millions of farm birds had to be slaughtered to contain the outbreak...

Dutch authorities said on Sunday they had found a highly contagious strain of bird flu at a poultry farm in the central Netherlands and set about destroying 150,00 chickens.

The strain, H5N8, has never been detected in humans, but an outbreak in South Korea meant millions of farm birds had to be slaughtered to contain the outbreak. Cases have also been reported in China and Japan, although the strain was first reported in Europe, on a German farm, in early November.

The Netherlands imposed a 72-hour ban on transportation of poultry products, including birds, eggs, dung and used straw to and from poultry farms across the country, which is the world’s leading egg exporter.

The European Commission said it expected to adopt urgent interim protective measures on Monday to contain the outbreak, including a ban on selling poultry products from the affected areas to EU and third countries.

All Aboard The Instability Express

The mentally-challenged kibitzers “out there” — in the hills and hollows of the commentary universe, cable news, the blogosphere, and the pathetic vestige of newspaperdom — are all jumping up and down in a rapture over cheap gasoline prices. Overlay on this picture the fairy tale of coming US energy independence, stir in the approach of winter in the North Dakota shale oil fields, put an early November polar vortex cherry on top, and you have quite a recipe for smashed expectations.

Plummeting oil prices are a symptom of terrible mounting instabilities in the world. After years of stagnation, complacency, and official pretense, the linked matrix of systems we depend on for running our techno-industrial society is shaking itself to pieces. American officials either don’t understand what they’re seeing, or don’t want you to know what they see. The tensions between energy, money, and economy have entered a new phase of destructive unwind.

The global economy has caught the equivalent of financial Ebola: deflation, which is the recognition that debts can’t be repaid, obligations can’t be met, and contracts won’t be honored. Credit evaporates and actual business declines steeply as a result of all those things. Who wants to send a cargo ship of aluminum ore to Guangzhou if nobody shows up at the dock with a certified check to pay for it? Financial Ebola means that the connective tissues of trade start to dissolve, and pretty soon blood starts dribbling out of national economies.

One way this expresses itself is the violent rise and fall of comparative currency values. The Japanese yen and the euro go down, the dollar goes up. It happens in a few months, which is quickly in the world of money. Foolish US cheerleaders suppose that the rising dollar is like the rising score of an NFL football team on any given Sunday. “We’re numbah one!” It’s just not like that. The global economy is not some stupid football contest.

Film subsidies trap Maryland taxpayers in ‘House of Cards’

ALEXANDRIA, Va – Maryland politicians cast their film incentives program as the only way to lure productions like ‘House of Cards’ and boost the state’s economy.

Yet it could be that star-struck politicians and Hollywood producers are deceiving taxpayers just like the characters do in the popular fictional television show, which dramatizes the cunning trickery and cutthroat tactics of Washington, D.C.

From fiscal year 2012 to 2016, Maryland will have doled out $62.5 million in refundable tax credits for the film industry, with 96.5 percent of that total going to the production of two television series — ‘House of Cards’ and ‘VEEP.’ And yet, despite all of those breaks for Hollywood and claims of economic growth, a new study by the state’s legislative watchdog arm recommends the Maryland General Assembly allow for the subsidies to sunset in 2016.

Obama: Gruber 'Some Advisor Who Never Worked On Our Staff'--Gruber: President Personally Crafted ObamaCare Deception With Me

President Obama said Sunday that the architect of Obamacare, MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, was just “some advisor who was never on our staff.”

Jonathan Gruber was paid nearly $400,000 by the government for his role in helping craft the law.

President Obama personally crafted a major Obamacare deception with Jonathan Gruber at one of Gruber’s numerous White House meetings, according to a 2012 Gruber interview with PBS.

MIT professor Gruber, who served as a top Obama administration consultant during the writing of Obamacare, garnered national condemnation this week after The Daily Caller published a video in which he credited a lack of transparency for Obamacare’s passage. Gruber said the law survived an existential threat posed by “the stupidity of the American voter.”

Gruber had a powerful partner in his effort to spin or conceal politically vulnerable aspects of Obamacare from the public: the president of the United States.

Obama Twists Economics and Rewrites the Law to Suit

President Obama has a peculiar approach to public policy. Listen to what the radical left wants, or political expediency requires, then make up the facts, twist economics and rewrite the law to suit.

Here are four examples:

1. Obamacare

When the president shaped the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the country needed to provide healthcare coverage for millions of uninsured and bring down costs, which are 50 percent higher than in Europe.

Economics tells us achieving those goals — dramatically increasing demand by extending coverage and lowering costs — conflict, unless the supply side is dramatically altered by radically changing delivery systems and how prices are set.

The Germans, Dutch and others with insurance-based payment systems have taken such radical approaches to drug and medical appliance pricing, while still rewarding innovation, but the ACA does not.

A principal architect of the law, economist Jonathan Gruber, has admitted the ACA paid scant attention to cost controls, even as the administration touted it would indeed lower costs. And the White House recruited the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to put over the ruse.

Now Medicare's actuaries project the nation's total healthcare costs will rocket the balance of this decade — witness the big insurance premium increases for 2015.

Holder Takes Death Penalty off Table for Gang Members Charged with Killing Cop

On November 14, federal prosecutors made it clear that Attorney General Eric Holder has “taken the death penalty off the table” for four men charged in the gang-related murder of Waynesboro, Virginia, police officer, Captain Kevin Quick.

The Daily Progress reports that 45-year-old Quick was reported missing on February 1. His body was found days later. Siblings Daniel Mathis, Shantai Shelton, and Mersadies Shelton have been charged in the death. A fourth person, Kweli Uhuru, has also been charged. All four “belong to the Bloods gang set 99 Goon Syndikate.”

Prosecutor Timothy J. Heaphy says Holder is responsible for making the call on death penalty cases. He said, “[The AG] reviews each potential death penalty case at his kitchen table, often late at night. I have known [Holder] for years and continue to have great confidence in him and his judgment.”

Halisi Uhuru and Anthony Stokes have also been charged in connection with Quick’s death.

EV-D68: The Mystery Illness That’s Not Actually A Mystery

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is one of over 100 non-polio enteroviruses, according to the CDC. For most people infected, it causes flu-like symptoms, mild to severe. Itspreads just like the common cold virus, through coughing, sneezing, handshakes, or touching a surface touched by someone with the infection.

Over this past summer and fall, the United States, “has experienced a nationwide outbreak of enterovirus D68,” according to the CDC. For most infected persons, it’s just another cold. But “more severe infections can lead to hypoxia, meningitis, eye problems, heart involvement, and rarely paralysis.”

This sudden surge in EV-D68 cases is perplexing to the investigative sleuths in the media. USA Today calls it “unexplained” while noting 1,116 cases in 47 states, mostly in children, with 12 deaths from the virus. Up north, the CBC calls the recent surge in infections, including at least six cases in Canada a “mystery.” My hometown newspaper theDenver Post is also stumped about this “mystery” afflicting eleven children in Colorado, one of the first states reporting cases. Meanwhile ten children have been hospitalized in Denver for unexplained paralysis.

‘Bracing’ for Violence in Ferguson

Encouraged by Sharpton and other agitators, too many see rioting as a black entitlement.

Beleaguered store owners in Ferguson, Mo., are boarding up their shop windows again; police departments throughout the area are purchasing riot gear; and the governor of Missouri has declared a state of emergency, a condition precedent to activating the National Guard — all in anticipation of the grand jury’s imminent decision on whether to indict Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in August. These depressing precautions are considered normal. Fifty years after the cataclysmic riots of the 1960s, rioting is still regarded as virtually a black entitlement. No one is “bracing,” in press parlance, for white riots or police violence should Officer Wilson be indicted. Nor were there preparations for Asian riots last month in Los Angeles as a jury heard a murder case against a 22-year-old thug from South Central L.A., who, along with an accomplice, had shot two Chinese engineering students attending the University of Southern California in 2012. That murder, as the Ph.D. candidates sat quietly in their car near campus, was part of a horrific pattern of attacks on Asian students at USC, one that has not resulted in either the threat or the reality of Asian “unrest.”

The fear of riots in Ferguson has grown more intense because of a growing sense that the grand jury might not deliver a murder indictment. Why might it not indict for murder? There is no hint of jury bias or biased prosecution, despite the groundless and incendiary claim to the contrary by a Brown family lawyer. Rather, the jury might not indict for murder because the evidence might not support a murder charge. The story offered up by Brown’s friend Dorian Johnson about the shooting — that Wilson had grabbed Brown without provocation and tried to choke him, and then had ruthlessly shot Brown when his hands were up — was always unlikely. Forensic evidence supports Wilson’s claim that Brown had repeatedly punched and scratched Wilson in his car and tried to grab his gun, putting Wilson in fear for his life. One might think that it would be good news if Wilson did not initiate the violent encounter or shoot Brown in cold blood: It would mean one less instance of alleged police brutality. Instead, the possibility that there might be no basis for charging murder apparently increases the risk of violence, since the conviction that Brown was the victim of murderous police racism is unfalsifiable.

The Cruel Injustice Of The Fed's Bubbles In Housing

As the generational war heats up, we should all remember the source of all the bubbles and all the policies that could only result in generational poverty: the Federal Reserve.

Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen recently treated the nation to an astonishing lecture on the solution to rising wealth inequality--according to Yellen, low-income households should save capital and buy assets such as stocks and housing.

It's difficult to know which is more insulting: her oily sanctimony or her callous disregard for facts. What Yellen and the rest of the Fed Mafia have done is inflate bubbles in credit and assets that have made housing unaffordable to all but the wealthiest households.

Fed policy has been especially destructive to young households: not only is it difficult to save capital when you're income is declining in real terms, housing has soared out of reach as the direct consequence of Fed policies.

Two charts reflect this reality. The first is of median household income, the second is the Case-Shiller Index of housing prices for the San Francisco Bay Area.

I have marked the wage chart with the actual price of a modest 900 square foot suburban house in the S.F. Bay Area whose price history mirrors the Case-Shiller Index, with one difference: this house (and many others) are actually worth more now than they were at the top of the national bubble in 2006-7.

Climatologist: 30-Year Cold Spell Strikes Earth

With nasty cold fronts thrusting an icy and early winter across the continental U.S. — along with last winter described by USA Today as "one of the snowiest, coldest, most miserable on record" — climatologist John L. Casey thinks the weather pattern is here to stay for decades to come.

In fact, Casey, a former space shuttle engineer and NASA consultant, is out with the provocative book "Dark Winter: How the Sun Is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell," which warns that a radical shift in global climate is underway, and that Al Gore and other environmentalists have it completely wrong.

The earth, he says, is cooling, and cooling fast.

And unless the scientific community and political leaders act soon, cold, dark days are ahead.

'I've made it a mission to make sure that I fulfilled my dream of becoming a city firefighter and following in my father's footsteps,' she said, crying shortly after the service ended.

IG Report: 44 Lax Judges Wrongfully Awarded $2 Billion in Disability Checks

A forthcoming inspector general's report reveals lax judges wrongfully doled out disability checks that cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion, and a projected $300 million more next year.

The Social Security Administration report says the agency's lackluster oversight of judges who green light unusually high numbers of applicants seeking taxpayer-funded disability benefits is partly to blame.

"In failing to take meaningful disciplinary action at the Social Security Administration, even after the most egregious cases of mismanagement, taxpayers are left to wonder who is looking after their tax dollars," said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

A raid, multiple tasings, two arrests, and a home ‘ripped apart’: Can you guess the suspected crime?

Police carry out rampage after illegally entering home

If you guessed “underage drinking,” stumble to the head of the class. And all of that doesn’t really even begin to describe all that went down in Damascus, Maryland. Here’s more from local newspaper editor Brian Karem:

The events in the 9400 block of Damascus road on January 4 came after a pizza delivery driver tipped officers about some “young-looking” people drinking. Jumping to conclusions and using questionable methods, Smalley and Durham then took fellow officers on a thrill ride through a private party, ripping apart a home, tasing an accountant, his son and arresting his wife and other son. In the process they put others at risk – including other officers and civilians . . .

When they were done raiding the home two people had to go to the hospital and many more – according to charging documents – apparently left the scene of the party without being detained.

Last week defense attorneys Rene Sandler, Chris Griffiths and Terrell Roberts challenged the entire raid as a violation of a homeowner’s Fourth Amendment rights. Circuit Court Judge Steve Salant agreed with them and suppressed the evidence gathered in the raid.

Students in Colorado are fighting to learn about – and exercise – their right to protest

After the Jefferson County Board of Education decided to censor history textbooks, students immediately staged a walk out. When school board officials refused to back down on their plan to make textbooks more "patriotic," students took the fight straight to their door. Earlier this month, more than a dozen young people used civil disobedience to show that they value learning about our national history of protest. At that meeting, board members refused to let students speak, so the kids stood up, one after another, and recited historic acts of civil disobedience from their unedited history textbooks. When that group was asked to leave the meeting, another group of kids stood up and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. After all of the students left the meeting to protest outside the building, someone inside turned on the sprinklers to try and make them leave – but the kids refused. This amazing action by the students of Jefferson County shows exactly why civil disobedience and our nation's history of protest are so important.

Medicare Part G- Have you signed up?

You're a sick senior citizen and the government says there is no nursing home care available for you. So what do you do?

Our plan gives anyone 65 years or older, a gun (part G) and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot four Politicians.

This means, of course, that you'll be sent to prison where you'll receive three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating & air conditioning, cable TV, library and all the health care you need.

Need new teeth? No problem. Need glasses? That's great. Need a hearing aid, a new hip, knees, kidney, lungs, sex change or heart? They're all covered.

As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you at least as often as they do now!

And who will be paying for all of this? The same government that just told you they can't afford for you to go into a home. (And you can get rid of 4 useless politicians while you're at it)... And because you're a prisoner, you don't have to pay anymore income taxes.

Is this a great country or what?

US pension insurer ran record $62B deficit in 2014

The federal agency that insures pensions for about 41 million Americans saw its deficit nearly double in the latest fiscal year. The agency said the worsening finances of some multi-employer pension plans mainly caused the increased deficit.

At about $62 billion for the budget year ending Sept. 30, it was the widest deficit in the 40-year history of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., which reported the data Monday. That compares with a $36 billion shortfall the previous year.

Multi-employer plans are pension agreements between labor unions and a group of companies, usually in the same industry. The agency said the deficit in its multi-employer insurance program jumped to $42.4 billion from $8.3 billion in 2013.

By contrast, the deficit in the single-employer program shrank to $19.3 billion from $27.4 billion as the economy strengthened, the PBGC said.

As Sharpton Rose, So Did His Unpaid Taxes

Rev. Al Sharpton, the MSNBC host and occasional White House liaison, has “regularly sidestepped” taxes, rent and other bills, according to a new New York Times investigation.

Sharpton has more than $4.5 million in tax liens against him and his businesses, the investigation found. His non-profit organization National Action Network owes some $1.1 million in overdue payroll taxes. He has repeatedly not paid hotels, travel agencies and landlords. He has even relied on friends and his non-profit to pay for his daughter’s education, and been sued twice by his landlord for a cumulative $98,000.

Sharpton told the Times that he is working on paying off the taxes and his outstanding balances are lower than they appear.

“You can say I’m not a great administrator,” he said. “You can’t say that I’m not committed.”

Weeping mom arrested for abandoning kids while she went to a job interview

'refused offers of work and spent donation money on making a rap album'

A mother who won public sympathy - and donations of more than $114,000 - after claiming that she had no option but to leave her two little boys in a sweltering car so she could attend a job interview has been accused by an ex- supporter of refusing job offers and wasting the money donated to her.

One of Shanesha Taylor's her biggest supporters following her arrest in March was civil rights leader Reverend Jarrett Maupin, but he now says his patience has run out.

‘We're trying to separate Shanesha Taylor from her mistakes, and that has proved to be perhaps an insurmountable obstacle,’ he told ABC15.

Following Taylor’s arrest and tear-stained mugshot, the 35-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona quickly raised $114,000 after support poured into an online fundraising account.

Part of a deal with prosecutors to avoid charges for Taylor included her putting some of the $114,000 raised into a trust for her children.

Man who fathered 23 children by 17 women in Tenn. has more kids

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man who fathered 23 children with 17 different women in Shelby County now has three more children across the river in Forrest City, Arkansas.

Three women in Forrest City went to court asking for child support from 50-year-old Terry Turnage. He didn't show up.

“That's too many baby mommas," said Forrest City resident Darlene Jackson, who calls men like Turnage "sperm donors."

Jackson says the father of her surviving triplets never paid his due.

“He was a ho," she added.

People in Forrest City know Turnage as an apparent serial womanizer. In his Facebook photos, he wears flashy, large jewelry, holds pricey liquor, and stands in front of expensive cars.

How a baby boom of Hispanic, Asian and black children is going to reshape the US by 2050

A new baby boom of Hispanic, Asian and black children is coming to America - and it will make whites a minority by 2050.

The surge is not due to new immigrants coming to the United States - but instead stems from the immigrants who are already here having children, according to Brookings Institution demographer William Frey.

His new book, Diversity Explosion, recounts how falling white birth rates and rising birth rates for minorities will change way the United States of America looks - and votes - forever.

Main St Gym fights in Annapolis MD.

Three MainSt Gym Boxers were back in action Saturday evening (11/15/2014) in Annapolis MD.

Leading off for Main St Gym was 15 year old Renaldo Mesadieu, a student at Wi Middle School. Mesadieu outpointed his Hagerstown opponent in the heavyweight division, to garner the win in his debut bout.

Corey Moore a senior at Wi Hi took to the ring next dominating Jimmy Lawson of the Navel Academy in Annapolis.
The three round bouts had Moore ahead on all three score cards.

In Main St Gym’s third fight of the night, Ryan Watson, battled in the light-heavyweight open division. Although Watson landed cleaner shots, his Washington D.C. opponent out of the Woodlawn Boxing Gym was awarded the victory, with the judges seeing more punches scored by the Woodlawn fighter.

Coach Hal Chernoff commented on the night by saying, “it was a good night, we had not competed in a while and our guys were getting their competition feet back under them. Sparring in the gym is the best preparation, but it is still different than the actual bout. All three guys did very well and Ryan looked very sharp and composed, though he did not get the nod. I am very proud of all of them and they represented Salisbury and the Main St Gym in a big way. We now are looking at the next fight in Baltimore on Nov 29th at the Myers Pavilion. Then we will bring it back home for our Festival of Fights on Dec 13th at the Main St Gym. On that show we will have a “Guns and Hoses” part of the show where Firefighters will match up against Police Officers. “

Why Do Airfares Keep Going Up While Airlines’ Fuel Costs Go Down?

The bad news: While the price of jet fuel is dropping, planes are still packed full of people and airfares are still on the rise. But is there a silver lining of good news for travelers, or are airline bosses just rolling around on beds made of money and laughing at us as we grumble about a ticket home for the holidays?

The good news is that no, airline executives aren’t making cash quilts to snuggle up under every night. So why aren’t those savings from jet fuel isn’t passed on to the customers in the form of lower fares? Instead, Scott Mayerowitz of the Associated Press explains, airlines are using that money in a way that could benefit consumers by way of newer, more fuel-efficient jets and to pay investors.

With airlines selling a record 85.1% of their domestic seats, they don’t really have any reason to lower fares when the money can be spent on things like an airline’s operating costs: There are salaries and benefits to pay, lease payments for airplanes, maintenance and fees for landing at airports, food and drinks, marketing, and the cost of a reservation system.

Airlines are not only buying newer planes, they’re updating and investing in airport terminals and computers, with U.S. carriers spending about $10.2 billion on capital improvements in the first nine months of this year, according to trade and lobby group Airlines for America. That’s the highest pace since the 9/11 attacks, adds Mayerowitz.

2/3 of Americans are Limiting Spending

Americans are feeling better about their finances than at any time since the Great Recession of 2007-09, but that doesn't mean they are ready to go on a spending spree.

Despite a sharp decline in layoffs since the recession and progress paying down their debt, 41 percent of Americans told researchers in a Bankrate.com survey that their top financial priority is getting caught up on bills or staying current on living expenses. Two-thirds say they are limiting spending because they haven't had a bump in pay or they need to save more.

The bitter experiences of the recession have left people preoccupied with the need to save rather than spend, and only 20 percent said they are more comfortable now with their level of saving than in the past.

SHOCK FLASHBACK: Obama Says Illegal Immigration HURTS ‘Blue-Collar Americans,’ STRAINS Welfare

President Barack Obama once declared that an influx of illegal immigrants will harm “the wages of blue-collar Americans” and “put strains on an already overburdened safety net.”

“[T]here’s no denying that many blacks share the same anxieties as many whites about the wave of illegal immigration flooding our Southern border—a sense that what’s happening now is fundamentally different from what has gone on before,” then-Senator Obama wrote in his 2006 autobiography, “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.”

”Not all these fears are irrational,” he wrote.

“The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century,” Obama noted. “If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole—especially by keeping our workforce young, in contrast to an increasingly geriatric Europe and Japan—it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net.”

MARYLAND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY EARNS NATIONAL REACCREDITATION

REISTERSTOWN, MD -- The Maryland Emergency Management Agency joined six other varied programs from around the county when it recently earned accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). MEMA received reaccreditation after originally being accredited in 2009.

"Our reaccreditation shows that MEMA and our partner agencies have again met the rigorous standards put in place to make sure we are prepared for any type of hazard," said Ken Mallette, MEMA Executive Director. "After thoroughly reviewing the State's plans, procedures, and other documents, the evaluators determined MEMA met all of the benchmarks for accreditation."

When our nation’s emergency management is strengthening in professional preparedness from the local level to a national scale, accreditation represents a significant achievement. MEMA continues to offer original and innovative programs through its “Center for Preparedness Excellence,”including the Maryland Emergency Preparedness Program, the Maryland Preparedness Training Certificate Program and the Private Sector Integration Program.

Shameless Saints fan steals football intended for woman in Bengals jersey

After scoring a touchdown, Cincinatti Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham celebrated by throwing the football to a woman in the front row.

But the intended recipient's joy quickly turned to disbelief when a Saints fan plucked the ball from her - and refused to give it back.

And the football player couldn't believe the lack of chivalry either, pointing to the woman to show it had been been meant for her.
