California Proposes Ban On Judges Linked To Boy Scouts

You know, because tolerance. But, in Liberal World tolerance is a one way street, and you will be made to care. And comply. Free association and free thought are Not Allowed.

(Daily Caller) California is proposing to ban members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) from serving as judges because the Boy Scouts do not allow gay troop leaders, The Daily Caller has learned.

In a move with major legal implications, The California Supreme Court Advisory Committee on The Code of Judicial Ethics has proposed to classify the Boy Scouts as practicing “invidious discrimination” against gays, which would end the group’s exemption to anti-discriminatory ethics rules and would prohibit judges from being affiliated with the group.

The committee is, in fact, a government entity, and is essentially determining that the Boy Scouts are a “hate group” for refusing to allow inclusion of gay men, as that lifestyle goes against what the BSA stands for. Furthermore, there is always the concern, fair or not, about gay pedophiles spending lots of time with young boys, especially on camping trips.

CATTLE SHOT, BURIED ON BUNDY RANCH

The Nevada rancher in a fight with the federal government over grazing land his family has been using since the 1800s is revealing some of the damage he blames on the U.S. government: cattle shot and killed and then dumped into trenches and buried.

Cliven Bundy and his family members have been in a standoff with the federal government, specifically the Bureau of Land Management, for years over fees the government is charging them to use the same land on which their ancestors grazed cattle centuries ago.

It reached a flashpoint recently when the government moved in armed officers and started rounding up the family’s cattle – with the apparent intention of selling them off and taking the money.

Muslims at Cleveland Airport Refuse to Drive Cabs Advertising Gay Games

As a Cleveland native, I couldn’t help laughing at this story: local Muslims are refusing to drive cabs advertising the “Gay Games.” (Don’t worry, I didn’t know such a thing existed either–until my hometown decided to host them. I assumed gay people play sports the same way other people play them, and therefore never conceived of a “gay Olympics.”)

This is a real dilemma for the politically correct crowd. On one hand, they insist that anyone who wrinkles his nose at the Gay Games is a “homophobe”–but also screech that anyone who criticizes the Religion of Peace is an “Islamophobe.” (Or the old standby, a “racist.”) They’re really trapped here, aren’t they?

Roughly 25 Muslim drivers dispatched to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are refusing to drive cabs adorned with advertising for the region’s upcoming Gay Games, citing religious reasons…Two of the three companies operating at Ohio’s largest airport were informed by the drivers — one-third of the airport’s total fleet — last week that they will no longer participate in the airport’s dedicated taxicab program. The companies, Ace and Yellow Taxi Cab, were told by the drivers that their decision was based on religious reasons, airport spokeswoman Jacqueline Mayo told FoxNews.com.

Ann Gynn, a spokeswoman for the Gay Games, said she believes the protest is an “isolated” case and not indicative of the beliefs held by most residents in Cleveland and Akron, where the Gay Games will be held on Aug. 9-16.

PETA Hits BLM Over Mass Cattle Grave

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is criticizing the Bureau of Land Management for apparently euthanizing an unknown number of cattle at the Bundy Ranch.

“These animals shouldn't be killed either by the government, or by the rancher who plans to send the cows off to slaughter. The best thing anyone can do to stop the suffering of animals is to go vegan,” PETA's Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said in a written statement to Breitbart News.

The Bundy Ranch Facebook Page, run by Cliven Bundy’s daughter Bailey Bundy Logue, posted photos on Saturday night of a mass grave of their livestock found in a large hole in the ground on the land where the BLM was impounding Bundy’s cattle.

When Is Your State’s ‘Tax Freedom’ Day?

Tax Day’s already come and gone, but for many Americans, April 21 marks a lesser-known — and likely more appreciated — “Tax Freedom Day.”

According to calculations from the D.C.-based Tax Foundation, April 21 is the day on the calendar when a typical worker will have earned enough to meet their anticipated annual income tax obligations to federal, state and local governments.

According to the Tax Foundation, federal income taxes eat up 33 days, taking the typical taxpayer from January into early February to earn enough to pay in full.

OBAMACARE SPAWNING 'MEDICAL HOMELESSNESS' CRISIS

California Obamacare enrollees are struggling to find doctors who accept their newly purchased health insurance plans.

UCSF Dr. Kevin Grumbach calls the phenomenon "medical homelessness."

CBS San Francisco says that many of the health care clinics for low-income individuals that helped people enroll in Obamacare are now seeing those same people "coming back to the clinic begging for help."

"They're coming back to us now and saying, 'I can't find a doctor,'" Rotacare clinic staffer Mirella Nguyen told CBS San Francisco. "What good is coverage if you can't use it?"

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION READY TO GRAB CONTROL OF MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PRIVATE LAND

The EPA is already out of control and we hear constant stoies about its abuses of American property owners. If this goes into effect they will have incredible control over how many homeowners and businesses use their private land. Land of the free is ever less free!

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION READY TO GRAB CONTROL OF MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PRIVATE LAND

April 18, 2014 by Dave Jolly

Do you own any land that has any stream, creek or wash running through it? What about a dry wash that only flows after a heavy rain?

If so, be prepared to learn that the Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency plan to take control of that part of your private property. In March, the two organizations proposed a new Waters of the United States rule that would clarify which streams and wetlands, including those that are intermittent, seasonal or rain-dependent, would be protected under the Clean Water Act.

What exactly would that mean? It would mean that Waters of the United States would allow the EPA to have absolute power and authority over any stream, creek or wash that has been dry for hundreds of years, throughout the US. The authority would not only be for those waterways on public land but also for every one on private property.

$1,000-a-day Hepatitis C Drug Approved To Treat Prison Inmates In Illinois

Illinois prison inmates will now be able to get a new and effective -- but incredibly costly -- drug for hepatitis C.

The Herald-Review reported on Friday that the state Department of Corrections has approved the use of Sovaldi for hepatitis C. The medication has a cure rate of 95 percent.

The drug costs at least $1,000 per day.

Corrections officials estimate that as many as 3,750 prisoners in the state have hepatitis C, a life-threatening blood-borne infection that's linked to tainted needles. Chronic hepatitis C, often called a "silent disease," causes cirrhosis and often requires a liver transplant. Illinois routinely screens inmates for hepatitis C when they are admitted to prison, unless they refuse.

USAID Documents Cite Hillary Clinton In Chaos Of Afghan Aid

In internal government documents with potential repercussions for the 2016 presidential election, top officials at the U.S. Agency for International Development repeatedly cited former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for setting into motion a policy to waive restrictions on who could receive U.S. aid in Afghanistan, resulting in millions of dollars in U.S. funds going directly into the coffers of Afghan ministries known to be rife with corruption.

References to Mrs. Clinton’s role in the policy first appeared in a November 2012 USAID action memo, which outlined how U.S. officials made a “strategic foreign-assistance decision” two years earlier to provide “at least 50 percent of U.S. Government assistance directly to the” Afghan government.

The decision was “reaffirmed by Secretary of State Clinton” in July 2010, according to the memo, which highlighted her actions as justification for why USAID should waive an internal policy that otherwise would have required the agency to first assess the risk that such “direct assistance” might be lost to fraud, waste or outright theft.

CLINTON ADMIN FEARED INTERNET'S ABILITY TO DEMOCRATICIZE NEWS 3 YEARS BEFORE DRUDGE BOMBSHELL

Three years before Matt Drudge changed the world and how news would be consumed, President Bill Clinton's White House feared that the Internet was allowing average citizens, especially conservatives, to bypass legacy gatekeepers and access information that had previously been denied to them by the mainstream press.

The infamous 1995 "conspiracy commerce memo" tried to demonize and discredit alternative media outlets on the right to mainstream media organizations and D.C. establishment figures.

The memo notes that the "Internet has become one of the major and most dynamic modes of communication" and "can link people, groups and organizations together instantly."

CLIVEN BUNDY AND THE ORIGINS OF THE AMERICAN ABUNDANCE REVOLUTION

Today, in the year 2064, as we look back over the last 50 years, it might seem as if the Abundance Revolution was inevitable, since so much wealth was involved. After all, it was wealth just waiting to be unleashed.

Yet paradoxically, on the eve of the Abundance Revolution, many of America’s leaders, on the right as well as the left, were preaching a strict doctrine of overall austerity.

Indeed, as we look back and study the events of 2014, we can see the results of the Green elite’s ideologically-driven effort to squelch even the relatively small amount of prosperity that Americans were then enjoying. That is, it was the Green elites who unwittingly opened the door to the Abundance Revolution and the fantastic increase in wealth that Americans have since realized over the last half-century.

We can point to three events, all occurring in April 2014.

High school senior forms petition against Michele Obama

If expanding the guest list to include Michelle Obama at graduation for high school students in the Kansas capital city means fewer seats for friends and family, some students and their parents would prefer the first lady not attend.

A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate.

For others, it was the notion that Obama's speech, tied to the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education outlawing segregation in schools, would overshadow the student's big day.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office

On 04/20/2014 at approximately 1530 hours, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to a residence on Grays Corner Rd, Berlin, Worcester County, Maryland for an assist EMS call. Upon arrival, Deputies learned that Anna Harbeson had been inside of her residence cleaning the bathroom. While cleaning the bathroom, Ms. Harbeson had possibly mixed two bathroom cleaners and then became sick and had trouble breathing. Ms. Harbeson became unconscious. Mr. Harbeson began CPR and called EMS. Ms. Harbeson was transported to Atlantic General Hospital and was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that Ms. Harbeson had mixed bleach and "The Works" bathroom cleaner together.

During a search of the residence, investigators were able to locate both "The Works" cleaner and the bleach in the bathroom. Both of these cleaning agents were found to have instructions on the back advising never to mix the agents with one another.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner was contacted and Ms. Harbeson was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Investigators contacted the poison control center and learned that these two cleaning agents create chlorine gas if mixed, which can be very toxic and dangerous to lung and lung tissue.

Always read the product’s instructions. Never mix products. Always work in a well ventilated area.

Bombshell Report Links Hillary Clinton To Missing State Department Billions…

According to an Inspector General’s report, a staggering $6 billion dollars in State Department funds is missing—“misplaced,” in the words of Hillary Clinton. In one case, Hillary Clinton wrote a $50 million check for “services performed.” The paperwork for what exactly the “services performed” were has also been “misplaced.” Just for the Iraq Embassy in Bagdad, a staggering $2 billion is missing! Obama’s response to Hillary Clinton “misplacing” $6 billion dollars?

“What difference does it make!”

But Hillary Clinton has bigger problems than a few billion dollars missing: It has now come out that her 2008 presidential campaign was illegally funded by businessman Jeffrey Thompson, with Clinton crony and former DNC chief Minyon Moore pulling the strings.

A Letter To The Editor: Arcade at Ocean Downs

Let us all be realistic okay? The first two letters should have been handled a little better. There will be no name calling just cold hard facts! First: the heat is downright extreme. Yes, farmers and watermen have hot jobs but they also have the choice of a/c. Tractors come equipped these days I know for a fact I own two John Deere harvesters. Also boats come equipped with a/c. The employees have no choice but to stand there and sweat. I've seen on numerous occasions guards get yelled at for standing outside for long periods of time. Just down right wrong. Secondly: when it rains I've seen many leaks and pieces of ceiling tiles in trash cans! The carpet by the cashiers is always soaked. I'd hate to see how much mold and mildew is under that. Thirdly: state lottery officials, what are they there for? If other employees are complaining about these things do they just turn a blind eye? I for one am concerned. If someone went to the labor board with these complaints why won't they do anything? I really hope things change for the better out of this. But as many of you faithful readers have said no body truly cares. For the employees and staff of this business I hope for the very best for all of you. Now for some real truth:

1. William Rickman is a penny pincher.
2. Air intakes were deliberately taken off the heating units on the building in direct violation of building code.
3. Happy players and employees are key to a successful business.
4. If things are bad at Ocean Downs, I wonder if things are bad at Delaware Park? Rickman owns that also!
5. His contractors should really call the health dept for their living arrangements. Roach, rat, and mice infested houses behind Ocean Downs.
6. I'm a farmer and a very very observant employee!

10 Worst States to Retire In

No. 7: Maryland and Vermont (Tie) Maryland and Vermont rank among the worst places to retire on Bankrate's list for a variety of reasons.

Both have relatively high costs of living and high state and local taxes. Maryland's crime rate also is worse than the national average, and Vermont's weather could be tough on a lot of retirees. Temperatures have been an average of 43.1 degrees in Vermont from 1981 to 2010, making it one of the coldest states in the country.

Of course, those drawbacks may not be enough to dissuade lovers of Maryland crab cakes or Vermont's rolling blue-green hills.

Corn Biofuels Worse Than Gasoline On Global Warming In Short Term – Study

• $500,000 study paid for by federal government
• Conclusion: 7% more greenhouse gases in early years

Biofuels made from the leftovers of harvested corn plants are worse than gasoline for global warming in the short term, a new study shows, challenging the Obama administration's conclusions that they are a much cleaner oil alternative and will help combat climate change.

A $500,000 study – paid for by the federal government and released Sunday in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Climate Change – concludes that biofuels made with corn residue release 7% more greenhouse gases in the early years compared with conventional gasoline.

While biofuels are better in the long run, the study says they won't meet a standard set in a 2007 energy law to qualify as renewable fuel.

These Are America's Most And Least "Taxing" States (And Everything Inbetween)

One of the most consistent debates emanating out of Washington in the past 6 years has been that dealing with income tax. Whether high, low, "fair" or "unfair", said discussions, however, focus solely on tax paid at the Federal level, and largely ignore that "other" key tax: state. Which is surprising, considering some states such as California demand a total contribution amounting to a third of the highest marginal Federal tax bracket, which could make some wonder if those bracing sea breezes are really worth it. But what about the other states? Here is the full breakdown of the states with the top income tax rates, those with the lowest, and all the states inbetween.

As Bloomberg reports citing Tax Foundation data, as of Jan. 1, nine states don't levy income tax on wages, and eight have a flat tax. Brackets in which taxes kick in differ by state, as do exemptions.

Here are the highest "taxing" states in the US:
California 13.3%
Hawaii 11%
Oregon 9.9% (a, b)
Minnesota 9.85%
Iowa 8.98% (b)
New Jersey 8.97% (a)
Vermont 8.95% (tie)
Washington, D.C. 8.95% (tie)
New York 8.82% (a, c)
Maine 7.95%

a) Local income taxes are excluded.
b) Allows "some or all federal income tax paid to be deducted from state taxable income," according to the Tax Foundation.
c) The Tax Foundation notes that New York has "'tax benefit recapture, by which many high-income taxpayers pay their top tax rate on all income, not just on amounts above the bracket threshold.”

Feds Draw Criticism For Selling Wyoming Horses For Slaughter

The Bureau of Land Management rounded up a horse herd that had roamed for decades on federal land in northwest Wyoming and handed the horses over to Wyoming officials.

They, in turn, sold the herd to the highest bidder, a Canadian slaughterhouse.

Wild horse advocates are incensed, saying they should have had a chance to intercede in the March roundup and auction. But the BLM says that the horses were abandoned, not wild, and that it publicized the sale beforehand.

"It would take very little to do this in a more effective way so that horses are not just sent off to slaughter indiscriminately," said Paula Todd King, of The Cloud Foundation, a Colorado-based advocacy group.

Sea Gulls close regular season with 11-9 win over Mustangs

The No. 3 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team closed out its regular season with an 11-9 victory at No. 2 Stevenson University in Mustang Stadium on Saturday night.

Senior midfielder Greg Korvin put Salisbury on the board with the game's first goal, picking up a ground ball off a save of his initial shot and putting the ball in the back of the cage at the 12:18 mark of the first quarter.

The Mustangs scored two straight in a 16-second period to take a, 2-1, lead, but junior attackman Mike Kane would tie the score with 5:48 left in the quarter with a shot on the crease on an assist from senior attackman Luke Phipps.

Glen Tompkins regained the lead for Stevenson, 3-2, before two-straight Sea Gull man-up goals to end the quarter gave Salisbury a 4-3 lead heading into the second.

With the extra-man chance, Phipps found senior attackman Rhett DePol on the crease for the score. After the score, two more Mustang penalties gave the Gulls a six-on-three advantage, as senior midfielder Donovan Lange capitalized with a shot from the right wing, giving Salisbury the lead.

Three-straight Mustang goals to start the second quarter put Salisbury in a, 6-4, hole, but the Sea Gulls were able to tie the score before halftime.

Sophomore midfielder Thomas Cirillo drove down the middle and shot low for the score to bring the Gulls back to within one.

With nine seconds left in the half, senior midfielder Brandon Kendrick ripped a low shot from the left wing to knot the score, 6-6, at the break.

At the half, Stevenson led in shots, 22-15, but Salisbury led in ground balls, 21-19, and faceoffs, 7-of-13.

Kane started the second half with his second goal, collecting the ground ball off a save and redirecting the ball back into the cage.

Starting with Kane's score, the teams traded two goals each in the third quarter, with Lange adding his second for Salisbury, to enter the fourth tied, 8-8.

The Sea Gulls took control of the final quarter, as penalties continued to hinder the Mustangs, scoring three-straight man-up goals to take an 11-8 lead.

At the 13:23 mark of the fourth, Phipps gave Salisbury the lead, taking a pass from Lange and ripping a shot from the right wing.

He than returned the favor, feeding Lange the ball for a goal from 20 yards out to gain a two-score cushion.

Phipps then capped the win on another Lange assist, finding the cage, again, from the right wing.

Lange finished the game with a team-high three goals, while Phipps added team highs in assists (four) and points (six).

The Mustangs added their final score, but Salisbury's defense stood tall, with senior goalkeeper Alex Taylor making key saves in the final minutes.

Taylor earned the win, making 13 saves and playing all 60 minutes.

Salisbury now looks forward to the Capital Athletic Conference tournament; the Sea Gulls will host a semifinal game next weekend, having earned a first-round bye as the tournament's No. 1 seed. The Gulls will play the winner of a first-round game between No. 4-seeded Frostburg State University and No. 5-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Rascovar column: The Political Isolation Of Garrett County

There is nowhere in Maryland more isolated and cut off from the rest of the state than Garrett County.

Distance (200 miles uphill from Baltimore) and the Alleghany Mountains present formidable barriers for the hardy souls who inhabit the state’s western-most county.

It is a large, forested county with prime tourist attractions in the summer (Deep Creek Lake) and winter (Wisp ski resort).

But its tiny population, not surprisingly, is shrinking. Help from Annapolis has been modest at best.

NJ Driver Sues After State Rejects Her “8theist” License Plate

A woman in New Jersey claims the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission is biased in favor of Christians after rejecting her request for a vanity plate that reflected her atheist beliefs while allowing plates that express a driver’s Christian identity.

According to the South Jersey Times, the plaintiff attempted to use the MVC’s website to obtain a personalized plate that reads “8theist,” but her request was allegedly rejected for being objectionable.

However, claims the woman, when she tried “Baptist” on the MVC site, she says it was not flagged by the system.

“There is nothing offensive about being atheist,” she tells the Times. “I should be able to express my sincerely held beliefs with a license plate just like everyone else.”

The United States of SWAT?

Military-style units from government agencies are wreaking havoc on non-violent citizens.

Regardless of how people feel about Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the federal Bureau of Land Management over his cattle’s grazing rights, a lot of Americans were surprised to see TV images of an armed-to-the-teeth paramilitary wing of the BLM deployed around Bundy’s ranch.

They shouldn’t have been. Dozens of federal agencies now have Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams to further an expanding definition of their missions. It’s not controversial that the Secret Service and the Bureau of Prisons have them. But what about the Department of Agriculture, the Railroad Retirement Board, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Office of Personnel Management, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service? All of these have their own SWAT units and are part of a worrying trend towards the militarization of federal agencies — not to mention local police forces.

Franklin Graham is right. Sharia law has no place in a free society:

“We should be afraid of sharia law” in America, and Muslims here who want to practice sharia should go back to where they came from, “to those nations that recognize sharia law,” said Rev. Franklin Graham, head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

In a recent interview with the Charlotte Observer, Graham was asked, “Some say you demonize Islam, and Christians in this country have opposed building a mosque or are worried about Sharia law. Isn’t it –”

Chicago Math: Three is Only Two

On WLS AM 89 radio in Chicago political reporter Bill Cameron featured an interview with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel that shows just why math is soooooo darn hard for politicians.

The interview was about Rahm trying to get hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to be set aside and wasted–er, bestowed–on a presidential library for Barack Obama.

In the radio clip Rahm says the following:

“I have been to both the Lincoln library, the Carter library down in Atlanta, President Clinton’s library in Little Rock, and seen the economic and cultural energy that’s created.”

So, Rahm has been to “both” of all three locations?
