Do Not Smoke Within 50 Yards Of This Building

It looks like half the Health Department Bldg. is unhealthy, (smoking wise) and take not smoking next to their building seriously. I happened to pass by and saw all these people taking a cigarette break. Too Funny!

Joe, in all fairness, most of the people you see smoking on the third level each day are NOT Health Department employees but rather they are "clients" who are being seen at the Health Departments Addictions and Mental Health Clinic. I guess they take one addiction at a time.

or trade one for another...anyone who's ever been to an AA or NA meeting knows there are plenty of "legal" addictions, i.e caffeine and cigarettes.

I am in agreement with the previous statement. I am a Health Dept. employee and not one of those smokers work at the Health Dept.

huffing cigarettes and gas fumes must be a good buzz

Who cares if they are employees?
They are not smoking in the building!

With all previously said, and whether they are health department employees or not, you would be alarmed at the number of health care professionals who smoke. My wife is an RN at PRMC, and tells me that more nurses smoke than don't. Now that PRMC is totally smoke free, and the nurses have to actually punch out and leave campus to smoke, many are finding work in other places.

You are supposed to smoke no closer than a certain footage to any entry door. Not for certain how far away you are supposed to be, if I'm not mistaken this is in the wording of the law banning all indoor smoking.

Joe,
You are such an a**hole!! I wish I had a fraction of the spare time you seem to waste. It just so happens those are clients, and not employees (no wonder you are being sued). And, even if they were, who cares!! The law says they must be 20 feet from the door. They are well beyond 100 feet. Get a life instead of looking for trouble.
