Earth to Comegys and Shields - Evidently People Do Care

I'm not usually one to talk of reader stats. I tend to leave that to my friend Joe Albero. However, after last night's live blog of the Salisbury City Council AND recent comments by the likes of Tilghman sycophants Gary Comegys and Shanie Shields to the effect that people don't care about what the Tilghman RUBBER STAMP (plus Councilwomen Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen) are doing, I decided to do a little research.

Yes Gary, it's true that council meetings are sparsely attended and relatively few people get up to speak. It's also true that there is no accurate method to determine how many people are at home watching on PAC-14. But I do know how many people bothered to tune in to our live blogs:

May 12, 2008 -

253 Unique Viewers
265 Read Replay
live telecast on PAC-14

May 21, 2008 -

91 Unique Viewers
288 Read Replay
no live telecast of Budget Public Hearing

May 27, 2008 -

229 Unique Viewers
93 Read Replay (within less than 12 hours of end of meeting)
live telecast on PAC-14

These Live Blog Events (concurrently published on Salisbury News and Delmarva Dealings) were not publicized ahead of time (maybe a few hours in the case of the Public Hearing, which had the lowest number of unique viewers). It also appears that there is a strong correlation between having a live telecast and having a larger number of viewers of the Live Blog.

It appears that Comegys and Shields are wrong. Evidently a fair number of people do care. They just don't want to show up at a meeting to be berated by the likes of you or Louise.

I also want to thank our good friends up north at CoverItLive. These are the folks who provide us with the technology to put on Live Blogs.

Change is here, Shanie, Louise and Gary--get it through you thick skulls that citizens are fed up. Keep tethering yourself to Barrie and carrying her water is going to send you down a bumpy path. Get on board with the real thinkers on the Council--Campbell and Cohen. They are supremely intelligent and understand that citizens are demanding the old guard of Barrie is not tolerated any longer.

Shanie don't care about no zoning laws. She only cares about the scumlords continued support.

I watch pac14 regularly, I've watched every live blog also...at the same time {but have not commented or partisipated in either} I dont live, work or own property in the city limits. I was born and raised here {am pushing 50} I can hardly belive how bad and how fast these folks have distroyed our city, let alone how long these crooks are allowed to retain their seats.
I can somewhat understand Shanies concern about hardship on some people {4-2} but if she couls apply a tiny bit of brain matter, instead of just rebelious grunts...I believe there could be made some exceptions, such as, neighborhoods were there are nothing but rentals, exceptions for elderly and disabled. Times are getting tougher...just to survive. Please Shanie, work with Cohen and Campbell, work with the positive people, work for the good of the people. We beg you Shanie, dont continue to sit there and do nothing at all and/or vote with the liers and crooks destroying our city....

Shanie is the one that said that the citizens are lucky to be able to get up and comment, they do it as a favor to us because they remind us that they don't have to have public comment at all.

I don't dislike Shanie, she's just hanging out with the wrong crowd. I am very glad to see new faces get up and speak, Mr. Leer (Was great) was allowed all the time he wanted to get his point across and I'm surprised that he didn't get the gavel. They are scared of him for some reason.

The Meagher gentleman whom I sure I graduated with his brother, that was another new face and lets hope the trend continues. Work has kept me away the last couple of days so seeing someone else to take our place once in a while is welcomed.

Tim, Tim, Tim,

Louise let Stu Leer go on and on and on because he is a SAPOA member, a landlord. Was Insley there? Bet he was. How about TJ Maloney? Did he make it? I didn't catch who all was in the audience.

While I watched and liked that Mr. Leer beat the pants off I-write-laws-to-favor-landlords Wilber -- representing himself! -- the fact is, if Mr. Leer had just been Tim Chaney going on for that length of time, Louise would have cut him off.

I did note that she let Mr. Chevalier go on, but even he didn't compare with Mr. Leer's time. And it was, after all, a REQUIRED public hearing (that's for you, Shanie, just so you don't think you did the public a favor that time).

While Mr. Leer bashed the mayor (can't blame him!), maybe that's to improve SAPOA puppet Comegys' chance for becoming our nex' mare.

And if you praise Mr. Leer too much, the mayor will say you all have turned and are now in bed with slumlords.

Mark my words!

Stu Leer sent a very loud and clear message to Barrie Tilghman and Gary Comegys. His message to Gary was to put pressure on Jim Caldwell to get rid of Russell Taylor and to remove Randy Taylor from the HDC.

His message to the mayor was that she should not consider running for office again, SAPOA will not be supporting her. That was the only message in his lengthy diatribe.

I do appreciate him making it public knowledge of Barries threats and intimidation tactics.
