That Time the Media Dubbed Michael Avenatti ‘Savior of the Republic’

Democratic attorney Michael Avenatti is facing spending the rest of his life in prison in New York and California for a wide array of financial crimes, including fraud, embezzlement and extortion. A year ago, he was a human Excalibur who could possibly vanquish Donald Trump once and for all.

In 2018, one couldn't turn on the news without seeing his face while promoting himself and his client Stormy Daniels's case against President Donald Trump, which delved into a non-disclosure agreement and hush money payment over an alleged 2006 affair she had with Trump. In addition to being a near-daily guest on CNN and MSNBC, Avenatti appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Real Time with Bill Maher, CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Today, The View, The Circus and more, racking up hundreds of millions of dollars of free media. On May 3 last year, he appeared on 10 different shows in 24 hours.

Avenatti won accolades from liberal media members for his aggressive style and promises of bringing down Trump—he repeatedly has predicted Trump won't serve out his first term—such as MSNBC contributor Eddie Glaude, Jr. calling him a "beast" and claimed historian Jon Meacham called him the "savior of the republic." MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle said she had to offer Avenatti an apology for doubting his ability to combat Trump, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell said Trump was "terrified" of Avenatti, and The View‘s Joy Behar said he was "saving the country."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘psycho’ class war

To what extent is income inequality a genuine concern for our society as a whole, and to what extent are people using income inequality as a mask for being angry at the rich for being rich and especially at the super-rich for being too rich?

Everybody’s favorite political phenom, income-inequality obsessive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, may have given the game away this week with a tweet that revealed how much of the emotion on the left regarding wealth is based in the idea that private-sector gains are ill-gotten and that the getters should not only be stripped of their lucre but punished for their insolence in daring to accumulate it.

She was responding to a weird article published on CNBC’s website about how some entrepreneurs have qualities also associated with psychopaths. It’s a piece so idiotic it should never have been published.

Reportedly, Bo got a box of Jiffy Cornbread Muffin Mix and tried to leave the store.

KAMALA HARRIS SAYS SHE OWNS A GUN — MEANWHILE SHE WANTS TO BAN THEM

California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris said she owns a gun for “personal safety” Thursday, adding she wants to protect the Second Amendment after leading efforts to ban assault weapons.

“I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do — for personal safety,” Harris told reporters after attending a party with supporters in Des Moines, Iowa, according to Business Insider. “I was a career prosecutor.”

The 2020 hopeful also said she believes she can solve gun control issues, mentioning a lack of leadership.

“We are being offered a false choice,” Harris continued. “You’re either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone’s guns away. It’s a false choice that is born out of a lack of courage from leaders who must recognize and agree that there are some practical solutions to what is a clear problem in our country.”

Shouldn't Nancy Pelosi want detainees released into her sanctuary city?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., would consider it punishment were her city saddled with more undocumented migrants while they await their court hearings.

The thrust of a Washington Post report on Friday, citing anonymous Department of Homeland Security “officials,” was that the White House had asked Immigration and Customs Enforcement about unloading illegal immigrants detained at the border in places proudly known as “sanctuary cities.”

Pelosi’s office said the suggestion exposed the administration’s “cynicism and cruelty” in “using human beings … as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants…”

The whole point of sanctuary cities, from the standpoint of their lawmakers, is that illegal immigrants need a safe place to evade deportation. Illegal entrants and asylum seekers, after all, are only here to pursue a better life for themselves and their families (and all the better if Democrats can load them up on welfare).

Remember Murietta? Dumping unvetted migrants into the cities of political foes was done by Obama first

President Trump's trial balloon of sending migrants surging across our border to sanctuary cities has been derided by Democrats as 'cynicism and cruelty' as well as 'a new low' by Trump, but it has a precedent: President Obama.

Back in 2014, when the migrant surge of that year brought tens of thousands of "unaccompanied children" and "moms and kids," into the Rio Grande Valley, overwhelming the Texas processing facilities, President Obama inexplicably targeted small- and mid-sized cities (same as the Trump officials' emails) as their next destination of choice. And instead of talking about it, they really did try to bus the unvetted migrants into small cities such as Murietta, California, Yuma, Arizona, and a conservative area of New Mexico, bringing crime, disease, and a high need for social services. without consulting those communities.

The residents protested, and the Obama administration declared them 'racist' in a bid to scare them into line.

I was on the ground at Murietta during those protests when I was an editorial writer at Investor's Business Daily, and spoke to the citizens of that city, who were not only far from racist, they were actually multiracial themselves. They told me this:

Child Attack Suspect Had Previous Mall of America Arrests

A 5-year-old boy plummeted three floors Friday after being pushed or thrown from a balcony at the Mall of America, according to witnesses, and a 24-year-old man with a history of causing disturbances at the mall was in custody.

Bloomington Police Chief Jeffrey Potts said police don't think there is any relationship between the man and the family of the child, who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was being treated at a hospital, but no details on his condition were immediately available.

Witnesses told police that the child may have been pushed or thrown from the mall's third level to the first floor, Potts said. He said the suspect immediately took off running but was quickly found and arrested at the mall.

A witness said a woman screamed that her child was thrown from the balcony.

Brian Johnson told WCCO-TV the woman was screaming, "Everybody pray, everybody pray. Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge."

Shocking ruling from liberal 9th Circuit Court hands President Trump huge immigration victory

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which has traditionally ruled against the Trump administration, handed President Donald Trump a rare immigration victory Friday night.

What are the details?

The appeals court issued a stay against a lower court decision — which came just four days earlier — that blocked the Trump administration from enforcing a policy that forced migrants to wait in Mexico while U.S. authorities processed their asylum requests.

However, the stay was only temporary. The court will consider extending the stay sometime next week, according to the New York Times.

The court gave civil liberty groups until Tuesday to submit arguments for why the policy should be overthrown, while giving the Justice Department until Wednesday to submit arguments for why the policy should remain in place.

Amnesty Advocates Help Illegal Immigrants Get College Scholarships While 44.7 Million Americans Saddled with Student Debt

A growing movement of progressives is helping illegal immigrants get into college and white-collar jobs, giving them an advantage over many young Americans who are struggling to get into good colleges and to pay their college tuition and student loan debt.
The movement shows itself proudly and openly online.

One of those websites, Top Ten Online Colleges, features a list of 25 of these scholarships:
Scholarships for undocumented students will fund the “American Dream” for foreign-born nationals who entered the U.S. without inspection or authorization. Most qualify for college under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy because they’ve entered the country before their 16th birthday.

Educators for Fair Consideration estimates that there are 11.2 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., including 1.1 million youth under age 18. Pew Research indicates that undocumented immigrants represent 5 percent of America’s total civilian workforce at 8 million. Most are originally from Mexico, but others come from Central America, Asia, South America, and even Europe. For instance, the estimated 50,000 Irish immigrants living undocumented nationwide break the notorious stereotype. Yet only around 7,000 of the U.S. undocumented population is enrolled in higher education.

Congrats, VA Residents: Some Of Your Tax Dollars Are Going To An illegal Alien Legal Defense Fund

There’s Northern Virginia and then the rest of the state. That’s how some folks describe it—and they’re right. Leave the northern liberal enclaves and you’ll find normal Americans. You’ll find Republicans. You’ll be in Trump country. And like liberals elsewhere, the supervisors in Fairfax County, who dominate the board, are putting on their Trump resistance hats by creating a legal defense fund for illegal aliens who want to fight their deportations from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It’s going to start as a $200,000 pilot program (via WaPo):

Fairfax County is considering creating a taxpayer-funded legal defense fund for immigrants caught in deportation proceedings, part of a growing effort by local governments to counter the Trump administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

At a county Board of Supervisors budget hearing Wednesday, advocates argued that a proposed $200,000 pilot program aimed at assisting low-income immigrants — both undocumented and those in the country legally — would send a strong message that Virginia’s most populous jurisdiction doesn’t agree with the spike in immigration arrests that has spread fear in local communities.

Michael Avenatti to Be Indicted on 36 More Criminal Charges for Defrauding Clients

Federal prosecutors are expected Thursday to announce three dozen more criminal indictments against celebrity lawyer and #Resistance bae Michael Avenatti.

Avenatti, best known for representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in her litigation against President Donald Trump, was arrested in March for attempting to blackmail and extort Nike for $20 million. Shortly after his arrest in New York City, the Department of Justice announced he was also facing criminal charges in California for wire fraud and bank fraud.

Weeks later, the U.S. Attorney's office for the Central District of California has scheduled a press conference to announce further charges against Avenatti. The Internal Revenue Services will also be present at the Thursday press conference, likely indicating that Avenatti faced tax charges as well.

Ohio governor signs law banning abortions after detection of fetal heartbeat

House Democrats have acknowledged that there is a crisis at the southern border, and blame President Trump for aggravating it, according to Reuters.

Speaking from a Leesburg, Virginia Democratic party meeting on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said bipartisan immigration reform is still the solution - and in fact, "inevitable." Pelosi insisted "I'm not giving up on the president on this," adding "I still say to him, 'We've got to have comprehensive immigration reform'."

Translation; Bernie Sanders just said he's opposed to open borders which would cause an influx of migrants, so Pelosi - who has vehemently opposed every Trump border security policy since day one - now wants to appear as if she cares about stopping unchecked migration.

High School Suspends Students for Gun Range Photos on Social Media

A New Jersey high school has come under fire for its decision to suspend two students over their decision to post photos from a gun range on their Snapchat account.

The ACLU has filed a complaint against a New Jersey high school that suspended two students over their decision to post photos from their weekend trip to a gun range. Lacey Township High School in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey, decided to suspend the two male students after someone reported that they had posted photos of guns on Snapchat. Each boy received a three-day suspension and a weekend detention session.

“When I was pulled into the principal’s office for something I shared with my friends privately, outside of school, over a weekend, it felt like I had no place where I could truly speak freely,” one of the students said. “I’m filing this suit so that no one at my high school in the future has to feel like the First Amendment wasn’t meant to include them,” the second student added.

Police: Teen killed herself with gunshot through her mouth while hands cuffed behind back

(KUTV) — According to the medical examiner's office in Virginia, a 19-year-old woman died from a gunshot wound through her mouth while her hands were cuffed behind her back. It was ruled a suicide.

The finding matched the account of Sarah Wilson's death by the Chesapeake Police Department that said she shot herself while officers were trying to detain her boyfriend.

Wilson was the passenger of a car pulled over by police on July 25, 2018. The 19-year-old's boyfriend, Holden Medlin, 27, was driving when they were stopped by two police officers, one patrol and one from narcotics. Separating the two from the car, one officer handcuffed Wilson while the other struggled to detain Medlin, who was reportedly combative and tried to flee the scene, as reported by WAVY in August.

Senator Eckardt End of Session Wrap Up

Senator Addie Eckardt, District 37

End of Session Wrap Up

April 12, 2019

The Maryland General Assembly adjourned on April 8, 2019 in memory and honor of House of Delegates Speaker Michael Busch, who passed away the day prior to Sine Die; Mike Busch was strong leader, a dedicated public servant, and most importantly, a good man. I served with Chairman Busch for eight years on the House Economic Matters Committee as well as under his leadership as Speaker for twelve years when a member of the House Appropriations Committee. We will forever remember and cherish the legacy he leaves the great State of Maryland.
Thank you to all who participated in making this year’s legislative process so successful. Despite some areas of disagreement, both the Administration and the General Assembly were able to find common ground and work in a bipartisan fashion on many important policy initiatives to benefit Marylanders during this productive session. Below, please find a summary of key legislation that I sponsored or supported, as well as other bills of interest from this legislative session. During the interim, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office to discuss recent or future legislation.

Fiscal Year 2020 Operating Budget

Again, I am proud to serve on the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee to help allocate funding for the final FY 2020 budget ($46.6 billion), a product of compromise between both parties, the Governor, and the legislature. There is an increase in state spending by 3.31% over fiscal year 2019 but this increase is below the 3.75% target cap set by the Spending Affordability Committee. There is an increase in the state’s Rainy Day Fund to 6.0% of general fund revenues, previously  5%, and is in line with the recommendations of the Spending Affordability Committee but below the 6.5% proposed by the Governor. Including the surplus left in the General Fund ($118.2 million), cash reserves are 6.7% of general fund revenue.

How You Can Be Certain That The US Charge Against Assange Is Fraudulent

Julian Assange sits in a jail cell today after being betrayed by the Ecuadorian government and his home country of Australia. A British judge named Michael Snow has found the WikiLeaks founder guilty of violating bail conditions, inserting himself into the annals of history by labeling Assange “a narcissist who cannot get beyond his own selfish interest.” So that tells you how much of a fair and impartial legal proceeding we can expect to see from the British judicial process on this matter.

But the real reason that Assange has been surrendered by the Ecuadorian government, imprisoned by the British government, and ignored by the Australian government is not directly related to any of those governments, but to that of the United States of America. An unsealed indictment from the Trump administration’s District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, accompanied by an extradition request, charges Assange with “conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer” during Chelsea Manning’s 2010 leak of government documents exposing US war crimes.

This charge is premised on a fraudulent and manipulative distortion of reality, and you may be one hundred percent certain of it. Let me explain.

NY Post cover told the TRUTH about 9/11 and Ilhan Omar’s comments. Leftist politicians and journalists are angry about it

The New York Post responded to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s comments about 9/11, and some folks on the Left aren’t pleased at all about it.

In response to Omar’s recent description of the attack as “some people did something,” the newspaper ran a cover with a sobering image of the 2001 terror attack on the World Trade Center that said “Here’s your something: 2,977 people dead by terrorism.”

While many heralded the newspaper’s decision to run the cover, others took issue with it, claiming that it incited violence against Omar and other Muslims and that the Minnesota congresswoman’s statement was taken out of context. (It wasn’t. At all.)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who represents a district in New York City, called the cover “horrifying” and “hateful.”

Georgia Ethics Chief to Subpoena Stacey Abrams’ Gubernatorial Campaign

Georgia’s newly minted director of the state ethics commission said Thursday his agency will subpoena the bank records of failed Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and groups that assisted her with raising campaign funds.

David Emadi, a former Douglas County prosecutor who started Monday as head of the ethics commission, announced plans to look into the Abrams campaign during a press conference on general agency business with reporters.

He did not provide specifics on what kind of possible wrongdoing officials are looking into.

“What I can say about the investigation into the Abrams campaign is, in the relatively near future, I expect we will be issuing subpoenas for bank and finance records of both Miss Abrams and various PACs and special-interest groups that were affiliated with her campaign,” said Emadi.

Limbaugh: Trump’s ICE Detainees-Sanctuary City Proposal a ‘Great Idea’

Friday on his nationally syndicated radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh praised President Donald Trump’s reported proposal to release Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees in so-called sanctuary cities.

Trump later acknowledged he was seriously considering the proposal on social media.

….The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy – so this should make them very happy!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 12, 2019

Partial transcript as follows (courtesy of RushLimbaugh.com):

LIMBAUGH: "Folks, there is a story out there today that I just love. And the story is being pooh-poohed. And it’s disappointing that it’s being pooh-poohed to me. Here’s the headline: “White House Proposed Releasing Immigrant Detainees in Sanctuary Cities, Targeting Political Foes.”

"Now, what this is, the Washington Post claims to have seen some memos from the Department of the Homeland Security where White House officials — i.e., Stephen Miller — supposedly tried to pressure immigration authorities to release detained illegal aliens onto the streets of sanctuary cities.

"What a great idea! They say they love them, they say they want them, they’ve got their borders open, so send them there. What a great idea! The Washington Post claims it was planned as a way to retaliate against Trump’s political adversaries. Even better! Even better. This is exactly the kind of stuff we’re up against each and every. What a great idea."

WATCH: Daily Wire's Knowles Sprayed With Bleach-Like Substance By SJW Protester During Speech At University of Missouri-KC

Speaking at the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday night, The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles was attacked by a masked protester who used a super soaker to fire liquid at him that appeared to be glitter-colored bleach; police later said that the liquid merely smelled like bleach. Knowles’ speech was titled simply “Men Are Not Women.”

Hecklers consistently interrupted Knowles and yelled at him, prompting Knowles to respond, “I know, you’re so oppressed, my dears. I know, life is so hard for you. You have to live in the richest, most equitable, most just country in the history of the world. You have to get a college education; you have to voluntarily go to lectures; it’s so awful. I can’t imagine.”

As the protesters stood up and started leaving, Knowles continued, “People who are in war-torn nations; they must truly pity you. Goodbye. Goodbye.” The crowd started clapping; Knowles said, “Thank you gentlemen, for your support. I’m not that intimidated by these guys … There’s a course being taught right now at an American university on angry white men. When I look at who’s angry, I’m not so sure …” The hecklers started yelling again, prompting Knowles to reply, “I know. I seem so hateful. You guys seem lovely and sweet. You guys seem so compassionate and lovely." Turning to one protester, he replied, "You hope that what? Well, it’s very difficult to use my platform when people use the hecklers veto to try to shut up any opinion that disagrees—"

Then all hell broke loose, as the protester tried to squirt what appeared to be bleach at Knowles.

Ocean City To Consider Parking Authority

OCEAN CITY — While efforts to tweak the resort’s multi-million-dollar parking system continue, it is becoming apparent Ocean City is leaning toward a single entity or individual as a parking authority.

In the interest of taking a broad look at Ocean City’s complicated municipal parking system including a potential expansion of paid parking in certain areas, Mayor Rick Meehan earlier this year appointed a task force at the request of the council. The task force, directed by noted parking consultant Dan Kupferman along with City Engineer Terry McGean, has met three times over the last several weeks.

In the meantime, there appears to be support for creating a separate department, or perhaps a smaller department within an existing one, to act as a parking authority for the town. Ocean City’s current municipal parking system is complicated to be sure with paid on-street parking in certain downtown areas, paid municipal lots throughout town and, of course, the Inlet lot, which is somewhat an entity all its own.

Exclusive–Steve Camarota: Every Illegal Alien Costs Americans $70K Over Their Lifetime

Every illegal alien, over the course of their lifetime, costs American taxpayers about $70,000, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steve Camarota says.

During an interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Camarota said his research has revealed the enormous financial burden that illegal immigration has on America’s working and middle class taxpayers in terms of public services, depressed wages, and welfare.

“In a person’s lifetime, I’ve estimated that an illegal border crosser might cost taxpayers … maybe over $70,000 a year as a net cost,” Camarota said. “And that excludes the cost of their U.S.-born children, which gets pretty big when you add that in.”

A senior aide said that the president wants a “battlefield commander” who will take the fight to the border and not get stalled or sidelined by agency and congressional politics.

“We have to have somebody in the battlefield on a day-to-day basis, in like a forward theater, that’s actually making decisions in real time to meet deadlines and meet targets,” said the official. It is "very difficult to direct that ... from a distance,” said the official.

'It's taking from everyone in the oyster industry': Watermen disappointed by Maryland vote

John Page Williams is our guide. He’s a naturalist with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and wants us to see how a restored oyster population here is making the bay healthier.

It's hard to see on the surface but underwater it becomes clear, literally. Oysters filter the water, and cluster together provide habitat for crabs and fish.

All of which is why about 10 years ago this area and several others were set aside as sanctuaries. No harvest allowed while millions is spent on adding young oysters.
