Adele's '25' Is Coming. Where You'll Hear It Is A Mystery For Now

This Friday, music fans will finally get to hear one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Just where and how they'll hear it, however, remains an open question.

That's because pop superstar Adele (whose last album, 21, continues to shatter sales records nearly five years after its release) has yet to confirm whether her new LP, 25, will be "streamable" — that is, available to hear on-demand from services like Spotify, Rdio and Tidal.

As part of the regular segment "Words You'll Hear," host Michel Martin speaks with Piotr Orlov, a contributing editor with NPR Music, about the economic gambit of withholding music from streaming platforms, and what Adele stands to lose or gain this week. Hear their conversation at the audio link.

O’Malley: Donald Trump an ‘Immigrant-Bashing Carnival Barker’

Governor Martin O’Malley called Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump an “immigrant-bashing carnival barker” and said that America’s “symbol is the Statue of Liberty” and “not a barbed wire fence.”

O’Malley took a shot at the Republican presidential candidates, specifically Donald Trump, and discussed immigration during the second Democratic presidential candidate.

“The fact of the matter is, and let’s say it in our debate because you’ll never hear this from that immigration-bashing carnival barker Donald Trump— the truth.”

“The truth of the matter is net immigration from Mexico last year was zero–fact check me” he said. “Go ahead, check it out.”

Fast food workers stage protest for $15 hr. wages

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - The fight for a wage of $15 an hour and for union rights for fast food workers continued Tuesday morning. Workers across the nation walked away from drive-thru lines and took to the streets in protest.

Here in metro Detroit, several gathered in front of Southfield City Hall in hopes of getting officials to listen up during this election season.

"When we cry out for elected officials to stand with us, here you have the city of Southfield's mayor, Mayor Siver, standing with us saying, 'You all deserve $15 an hour and a union,' and this is why we're here today," says Pastor W.J. Rideout, who helped organize the protest. "We're going all over to let elected officials know that if you do not stand with the 54,000 workers, that we're not going to stand with you at the polls."

Mizzou Activists Complain About Paris Stealing the Spotlight

Campus activists in America showed their true faces during an international tragedy last night: they are the selfish, spoiled children we always knew they were.

Black Lives Matter and Mizzou protesters responded to the murder of scores of people in Paris at the hands of Islamic extremists by complaining about losing the spotlight and saying their “struggles” were being “erased.” Their struggles, remember, consist of a poop swastika of unknown provenance and unsubstantiated claims of racially-charged remarks somewhere near Missouri’s campus.

So debased has the language on American campuses become that these incidents, which many observers believe to be hoaxes, just like previous campus scandals celebrated by progressive media, are being referred to as “terrorism” and a “tragedy” by moronic 20-year-olds who have never been told, “No.”

Salisbury City Council Update

Jack Heath, President
Laura Mitchell, Vice President

What President Obama said JUST HOURS before Paris attacks is UNCONSCIONABLE

We’ve never accused President Obama of being having a plan to confront ISIS. Even so, what he said just this morning — a mere hours before the worst terrorist attack France has ever seen, at the hands of ISIS — is may be a new low.

Via Breitbart:

Friday on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” President Barack Obama seemingly downplayed the threat of ISIS in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that aired on Friday’s broadcast of “Good Morning America.”

Stephanopoulos asked Obama if ISIS was gaining in strength, to which Obama denied they were.

“I don’t think they’re gaining strength,” Obama responded. “What is true is that from the start, our goal has been first to contain and we have contained them. They have not gained ground in Iraq, and in Syria they’ll come in, they’ll leave, but you don’t see this systemic march by ISIL across the terrain.”

“What we have not yet been able to do is to completely decapitate their command and control structures,” he admitted. “We’ve made some progress in trying to reduce the flow of foreign fighters and part our goal has to be to recruit more effective Sunni partners in Iraq to really go on offense rather than simply engage in defense.”

Essay;Blizzard of Lies This is from 1996! How soon we forget.

Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our First Lady -- a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation -- is a congenital liar.

Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that she is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit.

1. Remember the story she told about studying The Wall Street Journal to explain her 10,000 percent profit in 1979 commodity trading? We now know that was a lie told to turn aside accusations that as the Governor's wife she profited corruptly, her account being run by a lawyer for state poultry interests through a disreputable broker.

She lied for good reason: To admit otherwise would be to confess taking, and paying taxes on, what some think amounted to a $100,000 bribe.

2. The abuse of Presidential power known as Travelgate elicited another series of lies. She induced a White House lawyer to assert flatly to investigators that Mrs. Clinton did not order the firing of White House travel aides, who were then harassed by the F.B.I. and Justice Department to justify patronage replacement by Mrs. Clinton's cronies.

Now we know, from a memo long concealed from investigators, that there would be "hell to pay" if the furious First Lady's desires were scorned. The career of the lawyer who transmitted Hillary's lie to authorities is now in jeopardy. Again, she lied with good reason: to avoid being identified as a vindictive political power player who used the F.B.I. to ruin the lives of people standing in the way of juicy patronage.

3. In the aftermath of the apparent suicide of her former partner and closest confidant, White House Deputy Counsel Vincent Foster, she ordered the overturn of an agreement to allow the Justice Department to examine the files in the dead man's office. Her closest friends and aides, under oath, have been blatantly disremembering this likely obstruction of justice, and may have to pay for supporting Hillary's lie with jail terms.

Again, the lying was not irrational. Investigators believe that damning records from the Rose Law Firm, wrongfully kept in Vincent Foster's White House office, were spirited out in the dead of night and hidden from the law for two years -- in Hillary's closet, in Web Hubbell's basement before his felony conviction, in the President's secretary's personal files -- before some were forced out last week.

Carson asks Congress to block Syrian refugees coming to U.S.

HENDERSON – Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is calling on Congress to terminate all public funding used to resettle Syrian refugees and migrants in the U.S., citing the terrorist attacks in France.

Carson said Monday he wants that funded ended immediately, stopping all Syrian refugees from entering the U.S.

"There is currently no ability to vet these people," Carson said told reporters in Henderson, adding that bringing them to the U.S. puts the American people at risk.

In a letter Carson sent Monday to House Speaker Paul Ryan, Carson expressed concerns that President Barack Obama has said the U.S. would accept 45,000 more Syrian refugees in 2016-2017.

Eating Garlic Makes Men Smell More Attractive: Study

Chalk up another benefit to eating garlic. New research out of Prague suggests the body odor of men who eat garlic is attractive to women.

For the study, researchers from the University of Stirling and Charles University in Prague asked 42 men to eat raw garlic, garlic capsules, or no garlic at all. They then invited 82 women to judge the men’s body odor on overall pleasantness, attractiveness, masculinity, and intensity.

The findings showed the women found the men to be “significantly more attractive” after consuming the pungent staple of Italian food than when they hadn't eaten it, Medical Xpress reports.

What’s more, the more garlic the men ate, the more attractive they became to the women.

Why? Lead researcher Craig Roberts suggested garlic may somehow influence women’s perceptions of the men’s overall health, which may make the more attractive to the opposite sex.

Hospitals turning to 'last-resort' antibiotics as drug-resistant infections continue to rise

Hospitals are increasingly turning to “last-resort” antibiotics as the number of drug-resistant infections continues to rise.

More people suffered a “significant antibiotic-resistant infection” – both in hospitals and the community – between 2010 and 2014, a new report from Public Health England (PHE) shows.

Rates of bloodstream infections caused by E. coli jumped 15.6 per cent and Klebsiella pneumoniae increased by 20.8 per cent from 2010 to 2014.

E. coli can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea that may be bloody, and in serious cases can lead to kidney failure and death. Klebsiella pneumoniae causes urinary-tract infections and pneumonia but can also lead to blood poisoning.

Maryland Carry Law Unconstitutional

LETTER TO
Governor Larry Hogan

Maryland Carry Law Unconstitutional

The headline says it all, Maryland concealed carry permit laws are unconstitutional. Us as the residents of Maryland need to come together and make a change. Make Maryland a safer state to live. Allow law abiding citizens to carry out their 2nd amendment right. The recent terror attack in Paris is no reason to attempt to make a change now but only showing what could of been stopped if residents were allowed to carry. The crime rate in this state will drop. Is that really a bad thing to want to change? The murder rate in Baltimore City will go down. People won't have to worry about getting robbed walking down the street at night. People kill people, guns do not. Lets all come together and try to show Maryland that we there residents deserve the right to bear arms that they are unlawfully keeping from us. Thanks for your support.

Snowflakes or Fascists?

There was a much-beloved quote circulated among leftists, often attributed to Sinclair Lewis, that “when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” In light of recent episodes of mob action on American campuses, the quote needs updating: When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in “diversity” and demanding “safe spaces.”

Demand is the key word. It marks the essential authoritarianism at work here. At the University of Missouri, students “demanded” that (now-former) university President Tim Wolfe write a “handwritten” letter of apology acknowledging his “white, male privilege.” Among his alleged sins was apparently not doing enough to shield so-called “marginalized students” from feeling upset after a black criminal, Michael Brown, was killed by the police officer he had assaulted. Another sin was driving away when a mob surrounded Wolfe’s car at homecoming festivities. Wolfe has since apologized, groveled (“my apology is long overdue”) and resigned. Good riddance.

Events at the University of Missouri were a perfect American storm: the confluence of fascistic student and faculty behavior, viral rumors of white racism and the almighty dollar. That’s right, the dollar, because as an American university administrator, you can offend every principle enshrined in the Bible and the U.S. Constitution, you can make a mockery of higher education by offering courses on Martha Stewart’s whiteness or “Fifty Shades of Grey,” but don’t mess with the football team. That’s where the real power resides. When the black football players threatened to boycott this weekend’s game against Brigham Young, the university president had to go.

Ohio Man Arrested for Soliciting the Murder of Members of the U.S. Military

An Akron, Ohio, man was arrested today on federal charges that he solicited the murder of members of the U.S. military.

Terrence J. McNeil, 25, appeared in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Ohio after being charged with one count of solicitation of a crime of violence.

The charge was announced by Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach of the Northern District of Ohio and Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony of the FBI’s Cleveland Division.

“According to the allegations in the complaint, Terrence McNeil solicited the murder of members of our military by disseminating ISIL’s violent rhetoric, circulating detailed U.S. military personnel information, and explicitly calling for the killing of American service members in their homes and communities,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “ISIL and its followers continue to use social media in an attempt to incite violence around the world, including in the United States. The National Security Division's highest priority is counterterrorism and we will use all of our tools to disrupt threats and acts of violence against our military members and their families.”

Audit Draft Finds Salisbury in Strong Financial Position

Audit Draft Finds Salisbury in Strong Financial Position
City Auditors Say "No Findings of Concern" in Early Audit

Salisbury - Mayor James Ireton, Jr. is pleased to announce that the draft audit of the City’s finances will be completed earlier this year than in any previous year. Preliminary financial results for FY15 indicate the City is in a strong financial position, with over $9 Million dollars in unassigned surplus in the General Fund, and $5.6 Million dollars in Unrestricted Net Position in the Water and Sewer Fund.

While the final audit is currently in review at Barbacane Thornton & Company, draft financial statements have been completed weeks ahead of previous years. Each year the auditors summarize their recommendations and concerns in a report which accompanies the audit. As of this time, Barbacane Thornton have indicated that no new findings or concerns are anticipated.

“I am happy to turn over the reins to Mayor-elect Day with the city in good fiscal position as we see the draft audit returned even earlier than it has been in the past,” said the Mayor. “The completion of this document is two months earlier than it was when I took office. Mr. Cordrey reports that we are in sound financial shape in the General Fund and the Water & Sewer Fund, and the city anticipates no additional concerns as indicated by auditors Barbacane Thornton. I am proud of fiscal stewardship of my administration, with the help of the Internal Services staff and the vigilance of the Salisbury City Council.”

Autism Diagnosis Rate Doubles In US

Autism affects one in 45 children in the United States, almost twice the rate from a few years ago, said a survey Friday that uses a new approach to assess the frequency of the developmental disorder.

The latest figures may reflect a more accurate picture of autism spectrum disorder, said the report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics, and so does not necessarily mean that there is a ballooning autism epidemic.

In fact, the study found that while autism spectrum diagnoses are more frequent than in the past, the overall number of people affected by neuro-developmental problems has not risen, but has remained steady over time.

"What we call an autism spectrum disorder now is a much wider group of symptoms than what we called autism in the past so I think that captures a larger number of children that might have received other diagnoses in the past," said Katie Walton, an autism researcher who was not involved with the CDC survey.

ISIS SMUGGLER: ‘We Will Use Refugee Crisis to Infiltrate The West’

As the migrant-train standoff entered its second day in Hungary, with thousands of mostly Syrian refugees seeking passage to Germany, it’s time the West recognized this shift in Muslim populations for what it is, say American activists who have been warning of a “fifth column” for years.

Author Robert Spencer wrote Sept. 4 in Front Page Magazine, “This is no longer just a ‘refugee crisis.’ This is a hijrah.”
Hijrah is the Islamic doctrine of migration, which is a form of stealth jihad.

“To emigrate in the cause of Allah – that is, to move to a new land in order to bring Islam there, is considered in Islam to be a highly meritorious act,” Spencer wrote. He cited the following Quranic text:
And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many locations and abundance,” says the Quran. “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful” (Quran 4:100).

Cruz, Huckabee: US Must Rethink Admitting Syrian Refugees

The Obama administration should reconsider plans to bring thousands of Syrian refugees into the Unites States after at least 127 people died in Paris in gun and bomb attacks claimed by Islamic State, two Republican candidates said on Saturday.

"President Obama and Hillary Clinton's idea that we should bring tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees to America, it is nothing less than lunacy," Senator Ted Cruz said in an interview on Fox News.

"Now on the other hand, Christians who are being targeted for genocide, for persecution, Christians who are being beheaded or crucified, we should be providing safe haven to them," Cruz added.

Islamic State claimed responsibility on Saturday for the Paris attacks, saying it sent militants strapped with suicide bombing belts and carrying machine guns to various locations in the heart of the capital.

The White House announced plans in September to increase to 10,000 the number of Syrian refugees accepted in the United States during fiscal year 2016, which began Oct. 1, up from the less than 2,000 accepted last year.

ICYMI: Maryland Should Lead on Redistricting Reform

From The Star Democrat

Editorial Board - “The nation needs redistricting reform, and so does Maryland. So let Maryland lead the way."

“Maryland’s congressional districts weave and dip in bizarre shapes, looking more like they were scrawled by a 2-year-old on a sugar high than drawn by people serious about Maryland’s vote. The state might be better served by selecting its representatives with a game of darts in a pub.

“So when Gov. Larry Hogan appointed a panel to make recommendations on how to fix the system, it was about time. No matter what the panel came up with, it would likely have been better than the current system. …

“The current districts, drawn during the administration of Gov. Martin O’Malley, do no harm to the interests of the state’s Democratic Party, which promptly blasted the panel in a partisan and clearly self-serving statement.

“‘Larry Hogan’s hand-picked commissioners received their marching orders on the day they were appointed. The outcome was predetermined by a small group of Republican insiders, the process lacked transparency, and the recommendations are fundamentally flawed,’ the Democrats said.

“What were these fundamentally flawed suggestions? …

“The Democrats did not explain what was so fundamentally flawed about this idea. …

“The Democrats were not finished with their righteous indignation, though.

“‘Congressional districting is a national issue, and it deserves a national solution. Republicans drew the lines in six of the nation’s ten most gerrymandered states and eight of the nation’s ten most gerrymandered districts. If Larry Hogan is serious about reform, he should ask his allies in the GOP-controlled Congress to schedule hearings on legislation to provide a national solution,’ they said.

“So the logic here is that Republicans do it too, and we should wait for the federal government?

“Democrats did not offer a similar critique to Gov. Martin O’Malley when he failed to wait for federal action on gun control, a move that he now touts as groundbreaking. So their current objections are transparently petty. …

“If the governor gets to appoint the nonpartisan members, that would compromise the commission’s fairness. But the recommendations are not final. So if Democrats have any serious input they’ve been saving for later, they should bring it out now.

“We can’t think of a single compelling reason to refuse to make changes on the state level until the federal government goes along. The nation needs redistricting reform, and so does Maryland. So let Maryland lead the way.”

The Recessions Are Underway

"People's confidence that the consumer can somehow offset this industrial recession that we've had is really being shaken to the core with the disappointing numbers from some of these major retailers"

- James Abate, CIO of Centre Funds.

Recessions Are Underway

China drove the recent economic boom, just as it is behind the recent malaise. A turnaround in Chinese demand would certainly change things but the current data does not look promising.

For China’s trade partners, it means recession today. Only Germany and the US look positioned to weather the storm. Expect the next macroeconomic leg down to start in January. Between now and then, data will continue to weaken incrementally. Expect urgent Central Bank intervention in Taiwan, Korea, Brazil, and Australia.

It’s Not a US Recession… Yet

The US economy may be only 30% dependent on exports, but a sudden drop still hurts. Especially when GDP is growing only 2%.

The domestic hit this year from the downturn in commodities is well known. Falling prices and production immediately led to lower capital expenditure (CAPEX) spending on pipelines, extraction equipment, and so on. That extended to basic industrial component suppliers like pumps and fasteners, among others.

US exports pulled down as global customers got whacked.

Sister Souljah: Hillary Reminds Me of ‘The Slave Plantation’

Author and recording artist Sister Souljah on Thursday blasted Hillary Clinton’s public persona.

“She reminds me too much of the slave plantation white wife of the white ‘master,’ ” Souljah said, according to Time.

“She talks down to people [and] is condescending and pandering,” she said of the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Souljah’s remarks continue a feud with Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton that began more than a 20 years ago.

Then-Gov. Bill Clinton (D-Ark.) memorably chastised Souljah for remarks she made calling for violence against whites in 1992.

“If black people kill black people every day, why not have a week and kill white people?” Souljah asked after the Los Angeles race riots that year.

“If you took the words ‘white’ and ‘black,’ and you reversed them, you might think David Duke was giving that speech,” Bill Clinton responded in June 1992, referencing the former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard.

Souljah dismissed the former president’s remarks during her interview over the incident Thursday.

“If you ask my view, even if it’s not your view, you have to handle that,” she said. "Don’t tell me I hurt your feelings. I’m not your kindergarten teacher.”

Black Americans more susceptible to nonfatal force by police, DOJ says

Black Americans are more than twice as likely as white Americans to experience nonfatal force or the threat of force from police, according to a new Justice Department study.

The study, which was released Saturday, found that an annual average of 44 million U.S. residents older than 16 had at least one face-to-face contact with police between 2002 and 2011. About 75 percent of those who had encountered force from the police perceived the force to be excessive.

For the purpose of the study, nonfatal force by police officers was defined as anything from shouting and cursing to using an electroshock weapon or pointing a gun. The report “looks at the characteristics of incidents involving force, including the type of contact, type of force used, and whether the contact involved a personal search.”

McCarthy: Hard Left Has Taken Over Higher Education

The protests at the University of Missouri that led to the resignation of President Tim Wolfe this week proved that the nation's higher education system has been "totally taken over by the hard left," former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"Forget about trying to reclaim the campus," he told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "That ship has sailed.

"We're not going to reclaim the campus, not any time soon — and the way to do this is to blow up the model, not to try to reclaim it," he said.

"We can do education better with more quality and a whole lot cheaper by doing things like online courses and the like. That's where we ought to be going.

"It'll be better for the kids and it'll be better for the country."

Blame The Mommy Wars For The Ongoing Mizzou Insanity

Kids who don't learn to self-regulate become angry, emotional wrecks.

Lots of keyboards have been mutilated in efforts to explain why college students are so darned oversensitive. Talking like them is like crossing a sea of trip wires. The Mizzou and Yale events are only the most recent in a long series of absurd outrages. My colleague Rob Tracinski rightly places an onus on school administrators and professors; but I wonder if another source also exists, a much more primary source. In short, I wonder if it’s fair to assign some blame to our nation’s mothering crisis.

The plain biological reality is that children develop their base of emotional security particularly through a secure attachment to their biological mothers from in the womb through the first three years of ex-utero life. They also learn their interpersonal habits from watching their mothers (and fathers, but mostly mothers) handle stressful family situations.

Children who have less-sustained interactions with their mothers in their early years (and in general) are more likely to be nervous, agitated, and hard to calm down.

Even children who have, thankfully, not been subject to overt neglect, have a very strong and human need for “felt safety.” In short, one of the major things that happens during a child’s crucial first years is learning, through thousands of episodes where he gets frightened or angry or sad and mommy comforts him, that when bad things happen, he will be okay.

A Master’s Degree in ... Masculinity?

Michael Kimmel stood in front of a classroom in bluejeans and a blazer with a pen to a whiteboard. “What does it mean,” the 64-year-old sociology professor asked the group, most of them undergraduates, “to be a good man?”

The students looked puzzled.

“Let’s say it was said at your funeral, ‘He was a good man,’ ” Dr. Kimmel explained. “What does that mean to you?”

“Caring,” a male student in the front said.

“Putting other’s needs before yours,” another young man said.

“Honest,” a third said.

Dr. Kimmel listed each term under the heading Good Man, then turned back to the group. “Now,” he said, “tell me what it means to be a real man.”

This time, the students reacted more quickly.

“Take charge; be authoritative,” said James, a sophomore.

“Take risks,” said Amanda, a sociology graduate student.

“It means suppressing any kind of weakness,” another offered.

“I think for me being a real man meant talk like a man,” said a young man who’d grown up in Turkey. “Walk like a man. Never cry.”

14 Syrian refugees resettled in Louisiana this year

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Gov. Bobby Jindal has told the White House he wants to know how many Syrian refugees have been placed in Louisiana. The Republican said he wants that and other information “in hopes that the night of horror in Paris is not duplicated here.”

Jindal released his letter Saturday, a day after the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for attacks that killed 129 people and wounded 350 in Paris.

Fourteen Syrians have been resettled in Louisiana: one in Baton Rouge and the rest in New Orleans and suburban Kenner, the State Department told WWL-TV (http://bit.ly/1PuLFY6) on Sunday.

A spokesman for President Barack Obama said Sunday that the administration is continuing with its plan to thoroughly vet and resettle up to 10,000 Syrian refuges in the United States in 2016. The State Department said they’ll be spread across the country.

If We Don't Change The Way Money Is Created and Distributed, Inequality Will Trigger Social Disorder

Centrally issued money optimizes inequality, monopoly, cronyism, stagnation, low social mobility and systemic instability.

If we don't change the way money is created and distributed, wealth inequality will widen to the point of social disorder.

Everyone who wants to reduce wealth inequality with more regulations and taxes is missing the key dynamic: the monopoly on creating and issuing money necessarily widens wealth inequality, as those with access to newly issued money can always outbid the rest of us to buy the engines of wealth creation.

Control of money issuance and access to low-cost credit create financial and political power. Those with access to low-cost credit have a monopoly as valuable as the one to create money.

Compare the limited power of an individual with cash and the enormous power of unlimited cheap credit.

Let’s say an individual has saved $100,000 in cash. He keeps the money in the bank, which pays him less than 1% interest. Rather than earn this low rate, he decides to loan the cash to an individual who wants to buy a rental home at 4% interest.

There’s a tradeoff to earn this higher rate of interest: the saver has to accept the risk that the borrower might default on the loan, and that the home will not be worth the $100,000 the borrower owes.

The bank, on the other hand, can perform magic with the $100,000 they obtain from the central bank. The bank can issue 19 times this amount in new loans—in effect, creating $1,900,000 in new money out of thin air.

Student Newspaper 'Dissents' From Campus Protests

A student newspaper at Claremont McKenna College has published an op-ed dissenting from the current protests occurring at the school and others across the country.

The editorial board of the Claremont Independent, described as the conservative-leaning student paper, wrote they were "disappointed" in many of the protesters and campus administrators who gave them their way.

The editorial board wrote they were disappointed in Dean Mary Spellman, who was forced to resign due to the protests. Spellman had written an email to a student that was judged as discriminatory, and she was chastised for not doing enough to create a "safe space" for minority students on campus.

"We are disappointed that you allowed a group of angry students to bully you into resignation," the editorial board wrote. "We are disappointed that you taught Claremont students that reacting with emotion and anger will force the administration to act."

The editorial board also expressed dismay toward Claremont President Hiram Chodosh, because he and Spellman didn't protect an Asian student who was heckled by the protesters for sharing her own stories of racial discrimination and suggesting that "black people can be racist" as well.

"These protesters were asking you to protect your students, but you didn't even defend the one who needed to be protected right in front of you," the editorial board wrote.

Syria Refugee Crisis: U.S. Opens Centers To Speed Vetting

Screening outposts to be set up in Iraq, Lebanon as U.S. urges Arab nations to do more

The Obama administration is moving to increase and accelerate the number of Syrian refugees who might be admitted into the United States by opening new screening outposts in Iraq and Lebanon, administration officials told Reuters on Friday.

The move comes after President Barack Obama pledged in September to admit an additional 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016, torn by four years of civil war and disorder.

The U.S. State Department confirmed the plans to open a refugee settlement processing centre in Erbil, Iraq, before the end of 2015, and to resume refugee processing in Lebanon in early 2016, said spokeswoman Danna Van Brandt.

The White House would not say how many additional refugees it may take in beyond the 10,000, but two senior administration officials said they are seeking ways to increase the number.

"We want to be in a place where we can push out really ambitious goals," said one of the officials, who spoke to Reuters on the condition of anonymity.

Toll violators running out of time to avoid civil penalties

MARYLAND —Toll violators have until Monday to pay their debt to avoid civil penalties. A special waiver program offered by the state ends that day.

The Maryland Transportation Authority's one-month waiver program allowed toll violators to pay off their debt without facing more civil penalties. After Monday, the MDTA will refer those who have not paid their tolls to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

This can lead to the flagging and suspension of vehicle registrations, with toll debt being sent to the Maryland Central Collection Unit, as set by 2013 legislation.

The First Amendment Is Dying

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;Unless we’re talking about a white chocolate-paneled cake for a gay wedding or perpetual funding for ‘women’s health’ clinics, because it’s the ‘right thing to do.’

Or abridging the freedom of speech; unless that speech is used by boorish climate change denialists to peddle dirty fossil fuels and run capitalistic death machines that wreck the Earth; by anyone engaging in upsetting hate speech or other forms of ‘aggression;’ by a wealthy person supporting candidates who undermine ‘progress;’ by a pro-life protestor who makes people feel uncomfortable about their life decisions; by a cisnormative white male who displays insufficient appreciation for the “systematic oppression” that minorities experience in places of higher learning; or by anyone who has a desire to undermine the state-protected union monopolies that help fund political parties. And so on.

Or of the press; unless the press invades safe spaces designated by mobs or writes about incorrect topics at incorrect times.

And to petition the Government for a redress of grievances; unless they are members of pre-designated special interests groups, they should report to the IRS before doing so.

That’s pretty much the state of the First Amendment today. Climate change. Abortion. Gay marriage. Race. Taxes. What have you. Even in mainstream political debate, these interests outweigh your piddling concerns about the First Amendment. So the notion that a bunch of students and leftist professors would agitate to shut down free expression in a public space in Missouri because they feel their special issue trumps your antiquated list of rules is not particularly surprising.

'Safe Spaces' On College Campuses At Odds With First Amendment

So-called "safe spaces" -- where students can shield themselves from uncomfortable or dissenting viewpoints -- might be all the rage on college campuses, but they would not have been too popular with the founding fathers, say Constitutional law experts.

"I think the problem is they're trying to use this word 'safe' – which conveys the image of a violent attack – and turning it into safe from ideas and statements we find offensive," said UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh. "There is no right to be safe from that."

"That is directly contrary to what universities are all about," Volokh told FoxNews Friday.

On Oct. 30, Erika Christakis, Yale faculty member and associate "master" of Silliman College -- a residential community within the university -- sent an e-mail to students in which she questioned an earlier missive by the university that urged students to "take the time to consider their [Halloween] costumes and the impact it may have" -- including feathered headdresses, turbans, wearing "war paint" or changing the color of one's skin tone.

"Dear Sillimanders," Christakis' e-mail began. "I don’t wish to trivialize genuine concerns about cultural and personal representation, and other challenges to our lived experience in a plural community. I know that many decent people have proposed guidelines on Halloween costumes from a spirit of avoiding hurt and offense. I laud those goals, in theory, as most of us do."

"But in practice, I wonder if we should reflect more transparently, as a community, on the consequences of an institutional (which is to say: bureaucratic and administrative) exercise of implied control over college students," Christaki said.

Referring to her husband, Silliman College "master" and Yale professor, Christakis added, "Nicholas says, if you don’t like a costume someone is wearing, look away, or tell them you are offended. Talk to each other. Free speech and the ability to tolerate offense are the hallmarks of a free and open society."

Christakis' e-mail spurred outrage among a large group of students at Yale, who staged a massive protest.

Paris Suicide Vests Mark Change of Tactics and New Threat

The suicide vests used by Friday's attackers in Paris -- a first in France -- were made by a highly skilled professional who could still be at large in Europe, intelligence and security experts say.

All seven of the militants wore identical explosive vests and did not hesitate to blow themselves up -- a worrying change of tactic for jihadists targeting France.

Unlike the attacks in London in 2005 where the bombers' explosives were stored in backpacks, Friday's attackers used the sort of suicide vests normally associated with bombings in the Middle East.

"Suicide vests require a munitions specialist. To make a reliable and effective explosive is not something anyone can do," a former French intelligence chief told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"A munitions specialist is someone who is used to handling explosives, who knows how to make them, to arrange them in a way that the belt or vest is not so unwieldy that the person can't move," he added.

"And it must also not blow up by accident."

‘Clinton Cash’ author demolishes Hillary’s self-defense

Grave incompetence or brazen dishonesty?

Those are the only two conclusions one can reasonably come to after reviewing Hillary Clinton’s stunning Sunday interview on local New Hampshire TV.
When WMUR local TV host Josh McElveen asked Clinton why her State Department greenlit the transfer of 20 percent of all US uranium to the Russian government, Clinton claimed she had no involvement in her own State Department’s decision to approve the sale of Uranium One to Russia.

“I was not personally involved because that wasn’t something the secretary of state did,” said Clinton.

The transfer of 20 percent of US uranium — the stuff used to build nuclear weapons — to Vladimir Putin did not rise to the level of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s time and attention?

Beyond being an admission of extreme executive negligence on an issue of utmost national security, Hillary’s statement strains credulity to the breaking point for at least three other reasons.

BREAKING NEWS: Suspected ‘mastermind’ behind Paris attack identified

Sources close to the investigation of Friday’s deadly attacks in Paris tell the Associated Press and Reuters that they have identified Belgian national Abdelhamid Abaaoud as the suspected mastermind behind the shootings and bombings that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350 others. A French official also tells AP Abaaoud has been linked to an attempted attack on a high-speed train from Amsterdam to Paris this past August that was foiled with the help of three Americans who attacked a gunman.
