8:50 a.m. Update
We continue to ask students and staff on campus to shelter in place, and request that anyone off campus please stay away until the situation changes.
Jacob is believed to still be in Pennsylvania, but if you have any contact with him, please notify Public Safety at 410-778-7810.
7:32 a.m. Update
We received notification early this morning from the parents of sophomore Jacob Marberger that he had returned home and retrieved a firearm. The parents have not been able to reach him and do not know where he is or where is he is headed.
Due to an abundance of caution the college has decided to close campus for the time being and asks all students and staff on campus to shelter in place. Anyone off campus should stay away from campus until further notice.
Public Safety has requested and received support from local law enforcement who are now on campus. A sweep of the parking lots and campus buildings is being conducted.
Updates will be shared as they become available.
Very smart move.
ReplyDeleteI am confused. Is this person a threat? Why do they think he is a threat? You cant just post something like this and expect us to not ask questions. Did his parents say he was distressed? Is the fire arm his? There is no info in this release the should make anyone worry. There is clearly more to the story and I refuse to criminalize someone going to there home 2 hours from the the school they attend to get a gun? You closed down a whole college because a guy picked up a gun 2 hours away? Has this country lost its GD minds? Did the guy make a threat? If so publish it. BTW did anyone see the description as "light skin"? I would love it if this kid got pissed with school, went home to get his gun, went straight to the firing range to blow off some steam. I hope he then comes back to school tomorrow to call the WC admins a bunch of racist reactionaries. But seriously, can someone please explain this action?
ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you, parents.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he is out hunting with friends and turned phone off as to not disturb the hunt or battery died.
ReplyDeleteHe must have been in a distraught way for his parents to report him.Good for them.
