Social Networking Should Have Delivered More Signatures
Now that the Daily Times can no longer pimp Mayor Ireton like they used to in the past, WMDT has picked up the slack and is helping the Mayor pimp his on line petition by keeping old news at the top of their Website.
Clearly Kathleen McLean, (General Manager of WMDT) isn't aware of all the details involved but like a pit bull she goes after those things she feels passionate about. While that is her right, she is custom designing the news.
Back when Jim Ireton held his Press Conference on the alleged phone spoof, her Staff refused to turn their microphones in my direction to ask me what my thoughts were on the investigation. I contacted Kathleen immediately following and she sounded quite upset. As you'll recall, she assured me her Staff would be down at my Office to discuss my side and they never arrived.
Now look, I understand we should support the Mayor in Office but going so far as to defame the Council Majority in her position because she clearly doesn't like them is NOT how the MSM should be operating. I'll not get into any details as to how I know this to be a fact. I'll simply tell you I know this to be a fact.
Considering the petition has been out there for a few days now and Ireton has only pulled in 300 signatures, (most of which are out of Salisbury and mainly out of state) it's kind of a slap in the face. They have over 3,000 people on their list and only received 10% of the signatures. In fact, Ireton claimed his goal is 1,000 signatures. Why so little Jim? Heck, we can get over 200 comments on a single article about Jim Ireton in just a matter of hours.
Jim Ireton is doing everything he can to defame Debbie Campbell and have her replaced in the next election. He's pulling out the old Tilghman Administration stunts. Heck, they're even trying to investigate me AGAIN. Its probably the lawsuit I filed against him.
300 signatures is a joke. Watch out Jim, I think we're going to get bombarded with tee shirt customers again this week.
Black Pastors: Let's Reject Obama!
A group of black pastors is blasting President Obama for his support
of homosexual marriage and calling on black pastors across America to
stop supporting him.
“By embracing gay marriage, President Obama is leading the country down an immoral path,” said Rev. William Owens, president of the Coalition of African-American Pastors, in a statement. “The black church has always been the conscience of America, and today we are calling on black pastors and black Christians to withhold support from President Obama until he corrects course.
The Coalition of African-American Pastors, or CAAP, has launched a marriage petition at 100000Signatures4Marriage.com. The group describes itself as “a grass-roots movement of African-American Christians who believe in traditional family values such as supporting the role of religion in American public life, protecting the lives of the unborn, and defending the sacred institution of marriage.” It notes that it “is not affiliated with any political party or denomination.”

Farah: 'Spy Drone' Buzzed my Home
His private property was scouted by a drone that sounded “like a
lawnmower buzzing over my head,” WND Editor and CEO Joseph Farah
revealed on the July 5 Alex Jones Show.
“I’m taking my dog for a walk and guess what I see right over the tree line right above my head is a drone,” he said. “I don’t live in the city, I don’t live in a populated area, I live in one of the most rural places you could possibly live in Northern Virginia and there could only be one thing that this drone was spying on and that would be me, that would be my property because there’s just nothing else around except woods and deer.”
Farah joked that the drone might have been spying on him because he qualifies as a “terrorist” in a new Department of Homeland Security report that defines “extreme right-wing” terrorists as Americans who are “reverent of individual liberty.”

Army Manual Outlines Plan To Kill Rioters, Demonstrators In America
A newly leaked US Army Military Police training manual for “Civil
Disturbance Operations” outlines how military assets are to be used
domestically to quell riots, confiscate firearms and even kill Americans
on U.S. soil during mass civil unrest.
More
The document (PDF),
which is dated 2006 and was used for a self-learning course at the U.S.
Army Military Police School at Fort McClellan, makes it clear that the
operations described in the manual apply to both “CONUS and OCONUS,”
meaning inside the Continental United States and outside the Continental
United States.
The document outlines how military assets will be used
to “help local and state authorities to restore and maintain law and
order” in the event of mass riots, civil unrest or a declaration of
martial law.

OC Employees Turn In Union Petition
If enough of the Ocean City Employee Coalition’s number of submitted
signatures turns out to be true registered Ocean City voters, the group
will be in the clear to have a referendum on forming a union placed on
this year’s ballot.
The Ocean City Employee Coalition has submitted a petition requesting a referendum be placed on this ballot in this November’s election asking the question to whether general city employees have the right to collective bargaining or not.
Last month city employee Barbara Dahan said the petition would be wrapped up by the end of June and as of Sunday, July 1, she announced the petition’s submission. Dahan issued a statement this week.

School Retreats Spotlight 'Kinky Sex,' Plastic Genitals
Men pretending to have homosexual intercourse, discussions of “kinky
sex,” hats with plastic testicles and cross-dressing: It was all part of
an official California public-school district retreat, a lawsuit says.
School administrators from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District have participated in the annual retreats since 2008, according to court documents.
The Press-Enterprise, a newspaper in Riverside, Calif., reported that an assistant principal has had enough, claiming she was the victim of sexual harassment, discrimination and a hostile work environment.
Kathryn Jones, 42, said the retreats were not optional; administrators were required to attend the events held at Coachella Valley hotels, where district leaders allowed and participated in the risqué behavior.

Violent Dispute Over $10 Leads To 10 Years In Jail
An Ocean City man convicted of first-degree murder after running over
a convenience store employee with his vehicle multiple times during a
dispute over $10 was sentenced this week in Circuit Court to 20 years in
jail, half of which was then suspended.
Richard L. Edwards, 65, of Ocean City, was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder and other serious charges after an incident last June 9 during which he ran over north-end 7-Eleven employee Michael Curry multiple times after a dispute about the change he received following a transaction. In April, Edwards reached a plea agreement during which he entered an Alford plea to first-degree assault, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in jail.
Back in court on Tuesday for a sentencing hearing, Edwards was sentenced to 20 years in jail, with 10 years then suspended. He was also placed on supervised probation for five years upon his release and was ordered to pay restitution to the victim in an amount as yet undetermined by the court.

Alaska Aquarium Cares for Abandoned Beluga Calf
SEWARD, Alaska (AP) - Marine mammal specialists from across the
country have descended on an Alaska aquarium to help care for a baby
beluga whale that became separated from its mother shortly after its
birth.
The male calf is under 24-hour care at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, being fed by a stomach tube while learning how to suckle from a bottle.
"He's currently doing very well, swimming on his own and he has been from the first time he got here, learning to take food from a bottle, which has been challenging," said Tara Riemer

Solid Reviews For OC’s New Fireworks Vendor
OCEAN CITY – The 4th of July fireworks went off with the usual oohs
and aahs Wednesday, albeit with a different supplier than years past.
This year Ocean City chose to go with a three-year contract with American Fireworks of Hudson, Ohio versus Zambelli, which had provided the city with the 4th of July fireworks for a number of years.
American Fireworks was chosen due to a savings of a little over $22,000, charging a total of $45,000 for the two 4th of July fireworks displays on Wednesday downtown and Northside Park uptown. Zambelli came in with a bid of $28,750 per show.
At the time, the Mayor and City Council found making the change a tough decision since the town has had so many years of experience with Zambelli.

DELAWARE MAN CHARGED IN WORCESTER COUNTY MURDER
(Whaleyville, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have charged a Delaware man in connection with the murder of Nicole Bennett who was found dead in Worcester County last month.
The accused is identified as Matthew Burton, 28, of the 30,000 block of Power Plant Road in Dagsboro, Delaware. Burton is charged with first and second degree murder. He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown, Delaware pending an extradition hearing.
The victim, Nicole Bennett, 35, of the 33,000 block of Windswept Drive in Millsboro, Delaware, was found deceased on the morning of June 15, 2012, in an embankment off of Swamp Road in Worcester County. An autopsy conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore determined Bennett was murdered and had been asphyxiated. Autopsy evidence also indicated she was already dead when her body was left in the embankment off of the dirt road.
Shortly before 9:00 a.m. on June 15, 2012, Worcester Central received a 9-1-1 call reporting the body of the deceased victim in an embankment off of Swamp Road, a dirt road east of Nelson Road. The caller told police he was in the area walking when he noticed the woman’s body.
During the course of the initial investigation, police learned Bennett was the subject of a missing person’s case being investigated by the Delaware State Police. One hour before she was found, Bennett’s husband had called 9-1-1 reporting her missing. She had not returned home from a church in Gumboro, Delaware, where she was reportedly working late.
Delaware State Police responded to the church and found Bennett’s vehicle parked on the lot. It was locked with her personal belongings inside. Police learned Bennett had been alone inside the church with a custodian, identified as Burton. Burton was subsequently located and interviewed by investigators.
State Police homicide investigators executed search warrants and processed the homes and vehicles of both Bennett and Burton. Several interviews were conducted with numerous family members, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Investigators sought video surveillance footage from area businesses and from the church which is located approximately six miles from where Bennett was found. Anyone with information was asked to call the Worcester County Lower Shore Crime Solvers.
DNA evidence gathered by crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division connected Burton to the crime. After consultation with the Worcester County State’s Attorney, an arrest warrant was obtained.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. this evening, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, a warrant apprehension team, located Burton driving on Route 1 near the town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Burton was apprehended on a subsequent traffic stop and taken into police custody.
Investigators have not yet confirmed the scene of the initial crime. A motive for the murder remains unclear at this time.
Investigators with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware State Police and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene. Crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division and crime scene technicians from the Delaware State Police responded to gather and analyze evidence. The Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation, and the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation also assisted with the investigation.
The investigation is continuing.

Farm Parody of 'Sexy and I Know It' Goes Viral
Kansas State University student Greg Peterson and some friends were unwinding at a drive-in restaurant when LMFAO's song "Sexy and I Know It" came on the radio. He groaned.
But as the chorus droned on, the 21-year-old found inspiration. He switched "sexy" to "farming" as he began rapping. Then he started coming up with lyrics. It would be fun, he thought, to do a video parody with his brothers when he returned home to the family farm in central Kansas.
Peterson said the brothers aimed the video at their city friends on Facebook because they "hardly knew anything about the farm." They ended up educating the world. "I'm Farming and I Grow It" video has become an Internet sensation with more than 3.2 million views since it was posted June 25 on YouTube.

County Hopes To Meet With State On Watershed Plan
SNOW HILL -- As per last month’s decision to protest the requirements
in the state-written Phase II Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP), the
Worcester County Commissioners sent a letter of concern to the Maryland
Department of the Environment (MDE) on June 29. At their meeting this
Tuesday, the commissioners briefly reviewed what issues they have with
the proposed WIP as well as highlighting the steps the county has
already taken toward reducing its negative impact on the Chesapeake
Bay’s watershed.
In the letter, which was sent to MDE Water Quality Protection and Restoration Program Manager Dr. James George, the commissioners discuss eight requirements proposed in the WIP and list concerns associated with each.
“We also tried to point out our strengths,” said Director of Development Review and Permits Ed Tudor.

Salisbury News Has An Outstanding Friday
When the final numbers came in this morning referencing Friday's traffic I couldn't believe it. Friday's always start off with a bang but once we hit about 3:00 or so things start to really die down. That was not the case at all yesterday. In fact, we enjoyed the best Friday Salisbury News has ever seen.
So what made Friday so special. To me, the idea that people are truly interested in what Mayor Ireton and his Staff are doing seems to be the hot point. We're seeing unusual and new traffic because the voters now have an option. They have a place in which they can go to see what the current Mayor is up to and what the new Mayor can do. (LOL)
To all those petitioners out there with their left wing agenda, do tell everyone the TRUTH behind Mayor Ireton's proposal. Tell everyone WHY the Council majority turned it down. They turned it down because the Mayor wants to sell ALL of the parking lots and create subsidized housing projects, (inner city projects).
Look, the Council wants to build bike paths from SU to Downtown. What's there to do when they get there????? The answer, NOTHING. A Mayor can't take 30 year old plans that many other Council members threw in the trash because they knew it wouldn't work and come out fresh saying if it was good enough 30 years ago it should be even better today. NO JIM, that's crap.
The Downtown needs to be well planned. Just because Ireton heard I was going to run, because Ireton knew I had a great Downtown plan, (much better than his will ever be) he came out with this instant, (out of nowhere) plan. He knew it would get thrown in the trash so now he wants all this attention with a petition drive that has no substance. Little puppets are following their leader, (not many of them and most of them out of state) to the land of nowhere. What will you provide once they come Downtown Jimmy? NOTHING!
People are coming to Salisbury news because they know I've got the goods. I have a plan that will revitalize the Downtown with FREE PARKING everywhere and not at the taxpayers expense. My plan is inviting and doesn't even think of moving people from the west side into Downtown. I say, IF a developer wants land on the west side, buy it without the City's help. We have more than enough to fix and work on right now. The African American neighborhoods should be on high alert and run away from this Mayor just as fast as they can.
Yeah, Joe Albero is a scary name to a LOT of people in Salisbury. I tell it like it is, I do not lie and my only interests are actually where they should be, protecting the very taxpayers that hire me. Go figure, that's a new concept, isn't it.
"This is not Joe Albero's election to lose, it's the citizens election to lose"
Thanks for visiting Ladies & Gentlemen.
UPDATE: At 12:30 PM today we have already surpassed a normal Saturday, (for the entire day)!

Police Probe Grandparent Scam After Woman Bilked Out Of $2K
Ocean City police are investigating a new variation on an old scam
that snared an elderly resort woman last month and bilked her out of
over $2,000.
Last month, an 84-year-old Ocean City woman got an early morning call from an individual claiming to be her grandson, who was in trouble and in dire need of financial assistance. The caller told his “grandmother” he was in St. Lucia for a wedding and that he had been in an accident, had broken his nose and was in jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The caller told the victim he needed $2,000 to get out of jail and get medical attention for his injuries.
The unsuspecting grandmother, sensing one of her own was in trouble and needed immediate help, wired the $2,000 requested to the individual at the appointed place and time and also paid the $115 to complete the transaction. She later learned the caller was not her grandson, who was safely home in the U.S. and was not in a dire situation. On the other end of the transaction, an unknown individual picked up the wired money and completed another successful scam.

Utah Speed Traps Spur Police Probe
Small-town speed traps are legendary among travelers, who often suspect police of targeting tourists from other parts of the country to help fill local coffers. But officers in tiny Springdale, Utah, may have used their radar guns to pocket cash from foreign drivers they stopped, according to the state auditor.
Three police officers in Springdale, a popular gateway to Zion National Park, collected $11,640 from overseas visitors they stopped from January through October of 2011, a report from Utah State Auditor Auston Johnson found. The auditor maintains the collections during the stops were a violation of state law.

George Zimmerman leaves Fla. jail on $1M bond
Former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman was released
from jail Friday for a second time while he awaits his second-degree
murder trial for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman left the Seminole County Jail a day after Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester granted a $1 million bail with strict conditions. He wore a white shirt and dress jacket as he walked out and got into an SUV, ignoring shouted questions from nearby reporters.
The judge is requiring Zimmerman to stay in Seminole County. He was allowed to leave Florida after his first release in April. Now he must be electronically monitored, can't open a bank account, obtain a passport or set foot on the grounds of the local airport. He has a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Smoke-Free Beach Streets Pitched For Ocean City
The Mayor and City Council have voiced a consensus to move forward in creating smoke-free areas on the beach by next summer.
Terry Steimer of the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and chair of the Ocean City “Leave Only Your Footprints” campaign received permission this week from the Mayor and City Council to continue a program to place cigarette butt cans along the resort’s beach and Boardwalk.
In the last year, the foundation has initiated a pilot program to place cigarette butt cans along the beach and Boardwalk to educate smokers in the responsible areas to smoke.

Larry’s Trading Post is Full-Line Gun Shop with Scopes, Targets, Other Accessories
Larry Friedman has specialized in fine sporting firearms for more that 25 years.
Friedman started his business in the Washington, D.C. area and has done a majority of sales through the Internet. He also met clients by appointment, one-on-one, as his business focused on high-end clay target shotguns. “I’ve had an awful lot of repeat business,” he said.
He and his wife, Lynè, have had a condo in Ocean City for several years and they would come to the beach nearly every weekend, Friedman said. They both had grown weary of living in the Washington, D.C. area and thought the resort would be a nice place to call home.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 7-7-12
There have been many tales regarding children under school age. I think the best age for a young child is about four. By this age, they can carry on the conversation that only a four year old can give you. They can feed themselves and dress themselves, often with humorous results. The old adage of “children should be seen and not heard” is depriving some adults of some memories that will last for the rest of their lives. They are not in school yet and subjected to the influence of other children. They only reflect what they have learned at home, either from their parents, siblings or the bane of all civilization, television. Some shows on television are very good for the average 3-5 year old and they can learn a lot from them. It is the shows that project things that are too violent or have language that is inappropriate for the young fertile mind from which they should be insulated.
The best of times are when you engage a four-year-old in a one-on-one conversation. The more you let them believe that what they are telling you is true is when their little mind runs wild. Growing up next to a four-year-old gave me the opportunity to have many a conversation with him. Did you know they have grasshoppers in Texas that are four feet long? I know this because he told me so. He was just delightful in his imaginative narratives. By the way, he is now a doctor. So, you never know what that little mind will develop into.
My granddaughters are two and eight. Before the young one was born, I used to call her sister “my girlfriend”. She was six and in kindergarten when her sister was born. I used to ask her if she had a boyfriend at school. She told me that she did but he didn’t know it! I sadly told her that I guess I would just have to have her little sister as my new girlfriend. I will never forget her reply, “She can’t be a girlfriend because you have to be six to be a girlfriend”.
When she started losing her teeth, it was time for the ‘tooth fairy” to leave the customary quarter under her pillow to replace the tooth. Her father decided to leave one of the new “golden dollar” coins. When she got up and found it she didn’t know what it was and went to her Daddy with it. He said “Gosh, that’s a dollar; I only got a quarter when I lost my first teeth”. She told him that the “tooth fairy” must like her better than him to give her a dollar. Ah, little minds.
Throughout the years, a lot of what children learn is learned from a child that is somewhat older. A lot of the hand-me-down knowledge is taboo to parents and any person over the age of eighteen. Children’s secrets are precious to them because it gives them knowledge of something that “old” people don’t know. It is up to the parents to teach the child the difference between keeping a secret and being sneaky. One will benefit them in later life and the other will be a detriment to their adult personality.
The young, fertile mind is like a clean slate. Years ago, children were not encouraged to just be themselves. They had to start acting like a grown-up from day one. Worcester Leads Md. In Incoming Taxpayer Migration
Worcester has seen the greatest incoming migration of taxpaying
citizens among all jurisdictions in Maryland, and subsequently the
largest percentage of growth in the assessable income tax base, over a
recent two-year period, according to an independent study released last
week.
According to study released by Change Maryland, based on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) figures, more taxpaying citizens migrated to Worcester County over a two-year period from 2009 to 2010 resulting in the largest percentage growth in assessable income tax than any other jurisdiction in Maryland.
The inflow of 2,528 tax filers and their dependents into Worcester over the two-year period resulted in an increase in the county’s gross aggregate income of $72.2 million. While an almost in-kind number of tax filers and their dependents, 2,408, leaving Worcester over the same time period, resulted in a decrease in the county’s gross aggregate income of around $50 million, the net result is an increase in the county’s aggregate income of over $22 million, the highest level of increase in the state.

The Real-World Middle Class Tax Rate: 75%
If we include all taxes, the real-world tax rate is much higher than the "official" income tax rate.
For those Americans earning between $34,500 and $106,000, the real-world middle class tax burden in high-tax locales is 15% + 25% + 5% + 15% + 15% = 75%. Yes, 75%. Before you start listing the innumerable caveats and quibbles raised by any discussion of taxes, please hear me out first. Let's start by defining "taxes" as any fee that is mandated by law or legal necessity. In other words, taxes are what is not optional.
If we include all taxes, the real-world tax rate is much higher than the "official" income tax rate. These "other taxes" vary from nation to nation. France, for example, has a "television tax." It is mandatory, and since virtually every household has a TV this operates as a universal tax. The argument that this is "optional" is specious.
In every other advanced democracy, basic universal healthcare is paid by tax revenues. In the U.S., healthcare insurance is "optional" but this too is specious: in the real world, private healthcare insurance is mandatory because the alternative--having zero insurance--places your entire net worth and income at risk of catastrophic loss.
