NAACP Wins On "Nigger" In Dictionary.

GO HERE for official article.

NAACP wins on "nigger" in dictionary. We must now win on “nigger” with our own people.

A Small Victory...A Giant Step…The battle is not over!!
There has been a change in Webster's Dictionary. Thanks to Kweisi Mfume, former President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The word nigger will no longer be synonymous with African-Americans. It has been duly noted that it's a racial slur and not what African-Americans them-selves are. Along with this, all racial and religious slurs will finally be indicated for what they really are - cruel and evil slurs too often used to degrade people.
Now the challenge is to stop our young black men and women from using it.
According to Modesto/Stanislaus Branch NAACP President Wendy Byrd, the “N” word is a racial slur no matter how you try to manipulate it.
The recent Don Imus incident where a 66 year-old white male talk show host felt comfortable enough in calling the women of the Rutgers Basketball Team “Nappy Headed Ho's” is an indication of the need to examine the effect of racial slurs and attitudes in general.
We cannot hold others accountable for using derogatory and degrading terms against us when it is acceptable for us to use it against ourselves. This is a double standard, which is just as painful and unacceptable.
There is a need to educate black youth, in particular, about the history and legacy of the Civil Rights Movement. The “N” word was used to dehumanize, insult, control and profile African-Americans for over 450 years. Our Ancestors died to give us the right to hold a microphone, enjoy freedom of speech and equal opportunity for employment. We are indebted for this privilege and should not counteract the movement. In other words, don’t cut the hand that fed you.
Please join the NAACP’s around the country in discouraging the use of the “N” word and other derogatory terms that offensive and self-destructive. It all begins at home with each and every one of us. You must teach someone, and teach them to teach.

A Mirror Can Only Reflect The Image You Put Into It!

Real fuuny Joe.

What am I trying to imply? That they were black? Maybe I was maybe there where!

Do you see this kind of actions happening on Riverside Dr? Hell even the college students are better than this. They just hang beer boxes on the mail boses that someone knocked down. You even posted that.

So why are you putting a headline like this up?

Joe im not scared of you nor anyone else. Have I used the "n" word, yes I have. It stands for a ignorant person! I refer it someone that pulls out in front of me in traffic or acts like an ass. Or someone wearing their pants down to their knees. Did I ever say the a white or black person was the "n" word. NO i did not. It can be any color person out there.

This is what you need to understand. If I was one of the black persons that you are trying to use as a pawn to get what you need I would be pissed. Because really YOU are the one calling them the "n" word!

By the way.. Im not just a fire fighter, Iam a proud father, owner of a cat, a red head, and someone that likes hamburgers. You didnt put all that in your post.

You a ones sided son of a bitch! I hope the mayor and police chief kicks your ass in court!

Sounds like they are fighting to get in the door over there. (FUWB)

It Comes From The Top

As many of you have seen, there are far too many people within the Salisbury Fire Department, (and others) who have obviously shown their true colors when it comes to racism.

I allowed anonymous comments, (as much as I truly didn't want to) because I wanted this community to clearly see, (without recourse) just how bad things are around Salisbury.

That being said, allow me to tell you a brief story about the process in which I personally took years ago and why I have titles this Post, "It Comes From The Top."

Years ago when my Wife was working for the Salisbury Zoo, far too many animals were dying at an extremely rapid rate. Some was because of poor care and some died because of extremely poor management decisions. I'll not bore you again with the details about that situation but I will tell you that as my Wife tried to get this information up the ladder all the way to the Mayor's Office, it fell upon deaf ears.

I took it upon myself to make an appointment with the Mayor with all the documents and information necessary to make an unbelievable case against what was actually going on at the Zoo.

I met with Barrie Tilghman and John Pick and clearly convinced them that this was a very serious problem. I also expressed some of the other issues my Wife was experiencing and some of the things upper management at the Zoo had been doing to her. I then stated to the Mayor, "You can't fix something you're not aware of." I expressed how I thought this "Chain of Command System" sucked, as you could NOT get ANY information to the Mayor! The system only allowed employees to go to their immediate supervisor, then perhaps to his Boss. To get to the next level you have to file a grievance and it would still fall way short of getting all the way to the Mayor, EVER!

The Mayor responded with, I am a woman working in a man's world, I completely understand what your Wife is going through. She then expressed how her Husband almost got into a fight at one of the Council Meetings because of some very harsh things people has said about her, so she also understood that part as well. I then stated, IF you don't do anything about this, we would sue the City.

The long and short of it is, the Mayor refused to respond once she found out how serious and real the problem was. Rather than doing something about it, they went into damage control mode and ultimately fired my Wife because she couldn't perform her duties 100% with an injured back.

For those of you who were not around a year or two ago when this whole story was still fresh, my Wife was making all of the diets for the animals and Zookeepers so they could clean exhibits and she was also doing much of the catch up work on reports the Zoo was YEARS behind in. Also note, it would take years to catch up on that information, even at the rate she was concentrating on it with. Also note, the AZA wrote them up in a BIG way for the extremely poor record keeping and demanded the Zoo change this or the AZA would drop them.

I mention that because there certainly was room within the Zoo Staff to keep her on board and do some wonderful work. However, the Mayor would NOT recognize her dedication and actually used the information I shared against us.

OK, all that being said, do ANY of you actually believe there's NOT a racial problem within SOME people at the Salisbury Fire Department? Would you agree that after all that has been said about this issue that it would be really cool if the Mayor, Chief See, Deputy Chief Gordy stepped up to the plate and said, you know what, there is a problem here and we need to do a better job resolving it and boost morale?

Instead, they send their pawns here and go on the attack to attempt to take credibility away from the main issue. I personally think the Citizens should demand better for their Employees and their future.

I'd like to add, what does it say to those people who work hard for the City and actually go back to school to better themselves in the hopes of being promoted. The idea of doing so is to better their lives and enjoy better financial gains from such hard work. That is not the case for Lorenzo Cropper and Larry Dodd. Instead, this Administration says, IF you're NOT one of the Good Old Boys, if you're NOT a yes man, you're going nowhere with us.

I can assure you Ladies & Gentlemen, these people are so darned afraid that a Black Man and another much better educated White Man would make them look stupid and they're in fear for their own future.

Then I'd add, Lorenzo has been in the Department for 13 years now. He's on the fence, wouldn't you agree? If YOU were on the job that many years, would YOU rock the boat at this point? Sadly, Lorenzo will NOT be promoted under this administration no matter how hard he works. He'll always just be one of the guys, like it or not. This is why I have brought this to every one's attention. It's not right. It's not fair and we shouldn't be stepping back 100 years under this administration, we should be moving forward.

We have experienced first hand what this administration will do, even to the point that they'll sue me just to try and shut me down. It is what it is Ladies & Gentlemen and through elections YOU can make a difference. I have clearly proven I am not afraid of these people. Start rallying behind these movements and let them know you're not going to take this any more.

Thank You.

ANOTHER Fire Fighter Response!

"Joe just compared a job at the zoo to being a firefighter. Now you guys and girls see why I am here for laughs!"

At the Salisbury Zoo, Zookeepers, (especially my Wife) didn't sit around 8 hours a day on their asses WAITING for something to happen.

In TOTAL support of each and every Zookeeper, especially years ago when they had no loading dock, everything was physical, especially for the women.

My Wife dead lifted full wheel barrel's all the way up into a Dump Truck. They'd lift and carry 35,000 lbs. of frozen meat & fish that was delivered to the Zoo. They never used aerial cranes for anything, up until recently. Everything was done by hand and hard work. Hence 3 herniated disks in her back and then FIRED after they were through with her because she couldn't perform 100%. Yes Barrie Tilghman really takes care of those injured on the job, even former Fire Fighters.

Several times a year they would unload 150 bails of hay, not including all the 50 pound bags of feed brought out and around the Zoo daily.

Please don't even think you people do a quarter of the work than those employed at the Zoo. I'm NOT saying there weren't some extremely lazy Zookeepers, (men) that acted like little girls when it came to doing real work at the Zoo, because there were a fair share of those there and the women picked up the slack. I have plenty of photos to prove that. Fortunately, many of those people are gone.

Nevertheless, your comment is ridiculous. Oh, washing a Fire Truck is hard work, I forgot. NOW, that being said, herniate three disks in your back, (ON THE JOB) and do any one of your duties around the Fire Department and let's see what kind of men you really are?

Maybe the Mayor turned you down on pay increases because she knew how bad things are around the Fire Department? You obviously didn't earn/deserve a pay increase, right? The Police got their increases. The Zoo got all of their increases. Oh, that's right, you got a $10,000,000.00 Fire Station, I forgot.

Director Of Dlite, (Jim Rapp) Is Still Mooning People!

Talk about a classic! In today's Daily Times I found this article posted above and thought, this is a glutton for punishment. How appropriate that they don't mention Jim Rapp's name connected to such an event? The second photo is from a deposition and are the words of Jim Rapp himself. Perhaps they'll give it another name next year? Only in the mind of Jim Rapp could you connect a FULL MOON and Dlite!

Paddle, eh, thank you Sir, may I have another?

Is This Really A Color Photo?

Something about the color balance seems to be WAY OFF, wouldn't YOU agree?

The Price To Visit Their Zoo

A select few people want to bitch and complain about the Salisbury Zoo ever charging an entrance fee at the doors. Well, take a good hard look at what it cost PER PERSON just to visit their Zoo! A Family of only 3 is $213.00 A DAY!

I know, I have a GREAT idea. Pass it on to ALL the taxpayers to foot the bill for everyone coming through the Salisbury Zoo, even those visiting from Delaware.

Ron Alessi should be ashamed of himself for putting these expenses on everyone elses back. Think about this Ladies & Gentlemen. YOU have people on that Board making decisions for every taxpayer in the City, yet many of them, (including Alessi) DON'T LIVE IN THE CITY OF SALISBURY!

Isn't that like having a Mayor for Salisbury who lives in Somerset County? Oh, I'm sorry, that's more like your Police Chief, right? It's no wonder the City of Salisbury is so screwed up!

Today's Wildlife Photo

Yes, I took this picture. When you visit Disney and go to their Zoo, they have animals Americans want to see. It doesn't stink and everyone there waves and says hello at every opportunity they can. VERY refreshing!

I'm Calling It A Night

Considering a select few have chosen to post nasty comments, I'm turning off anonymous comments for the evening. I will continue to do so while I am away from the computer for periods of time. Thank You for understanding. I'll add, ANY more comments with curse words will also be deleted from here on out. Do as I say, not as I do. LOL

The Best Post Ever

Not only did this Post kick butt in only being up for 24 hours, there are already 121 comments and growing. Sadly however, Fire Fighters have become so angry and rude they have been attacking my Wife with sexual disgusting comments I've had to delete.

GO HERE to see the comments but you better have the time to do so. I enjoy the fact that I slammed each and every Fire Fighter who could be guilty of being racists and the comments will clearly prove many of those Idiots need serious help, yet Barrie Tilghman couldn't care less. She only reads and saves the comments that are against her personally for her lawsuit.

I don't think I have ever seen a Post anywhere else with that many comments. I'm NOT saying it hasn't happened. I'm saying "I" haven't seen it happen elsewhere. Are you proud of your men now Chief See and Deputy Chief Gordy? You've done a wonderful job and it clearly shows they haven't let you down on just how you educated them and trained them.

The Lighthouse Diner On S. Salisbury Blvd. Closed?

The word on the street is that the Light House Diner on S. Salisbury has been shut down by the EPA. Something about a bad pipe that hasn't been fixed in a timely manner? I have been told, BUT NOT CONFIRMED allegedly, "the EPA shut down the Lighthouse Restaurant for suposedly dumping sewage into the creek/stream/river."

I tried calling their business, 410-749-5515 and there's no answer. Considering I called at 11:30, one would think they would be eager to answer for the upcoming lunch business, so it must have some credibility.

I'll look into it more and keep you updated.........

Gilchrest Accused Of "Dirty Tricks'

GO HERE for original article.

October 26, 2007

By Tom LoBianco - ANNAPOLIS - Supporters of state Sen. Andrew P. Harris' campaign to unseat Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest say the incumbent's top aide pushed another candidate into the Republican primary to dilute support for Mr. Harris.

"This is [Mr. Gilchrest's] insurance card that he doesn't lose the race," said state Sen. Nancy Jacobs, Harford County Republican. "It's dirty tricks. It's what goes on behind the scenes. But to get caught with your hand in the cookie jar."

Mrs. Jacobs and other Harris supporters say Tony Caligiuri, Mr. Gilchrest's chief of staff, asked Robert Joseph Banks to enter the race.

Mr. Harris is the strongest challenger to Mr. Gilchrest, who has held the 1st Congressional District seat for nine terms.

Although Mr. Gilchrest has fended off strong challengers before, his vote against the Democrat-backed Iraq war resolution in March and a redistricting plan in 2002 have made him more vulnerable to defeat.

Mr. Gilchrest has further alienated the Republican base by supporting full congressional voting rights for the District, frequently siding with environmentalists and testifying in 2004 against a proposal by Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. to legalize slot machines.

Mr. Ehrlich, a Republican, recently gave his support to Mr. Harris, Baltimore and Harford counties Republican, who spent four years working for votes for him in the Democrat-controlled General Assembly and helped raise $180,000 for Mr. Ehrlich's unsuccessful re-election bid last year.

State Democrats restructured Mr. Gilchrest's district in 2002 to include metropolitan Baltimore, which cuts into his Eastern Shore base.

Eastern Shore lawyers Frank M. Kratovil Jr. and Christopher R. Robinson are running for the Democratic nomination. The primary is Feb. 12, and the general election is Nov. 4, 2008.

Mrs. Jacobs said one of her former staffers now working for the Gilchrest campaign told her about the plan to enlist Mr. Banks, a technology executive.

Mr. Banks yesterday denied the accusations.

"Absolutely not," he said. "It sounds like a vast right-wing conspiracy."

Mr. Banks entered the race this month, increasing the number of Republicans to five and thinning the chances for a challenger to defeat Mr. Gilchrest.

Mr. Caligiuri denied asking Mr. Banks to run and said Mrs. Jacobs is "really kind of losing it."

"She's swinging at shadows at this point," he said yesterday. "Last I heard, Banks was criticizing Gilchrest."

Mr. Banks is the only candidate who does not live in the district. He lives in Baltimore City, but federal law does not require a candidate to live in the district they want to represent.

Mr. Harris' campaign calls Mr. Banks' entry into the race an attempt by the Gilchrest campaign to confuse voters.

"This is the worst form of dirty tricks campaigning," said Chris Meekins, Mr. Harris' campaign manager. "Sadly, that is what we have come to expect from Wayne Gilchrest. This is exactly why Republican voters are looking for new leadership."

Whether Mr. Banks was asked to enter the race remains in dispute, but he clearly opposed Mr. Harris' bid this summer.

He said Mr. Gilchrest was the Republicans' best chance to hold the seat.

"I feel that to risk bruising up one of our guys and weaken him for a general [election] or knocking him off in a primary and fielding a strongly conservative candidate may open the doors for an unknown to pick up this seat," he said in an e-mail to the Harris campaign obtained by The Washington Times.

His run has prompted former U.S. Rep. Helen Delich Bentley, a Republican and Harris supporter, to ask him to drop out.

Mrs. Bentley also thinks Mr. Caligiuri pushed Mr. Banks into running.

"That is the general feeling," she said. "Whenever you get a lot of people in the primary, the incumbent usually wins."

Local Farmers Compete To Pimp Their Rides!

If any of you are wondering why the cost of Dog Food, gas and so many other items have gone through the roof recently, take a good hard look at your local Corn Farmer and ask him/her, WHO PIMPS YOUR RIDE?

It seems to me this Wicomico County Farmer is loving life. Perhaps it's about time?

Around The Blogosphere

The pickins are becoming more and more slim any more. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Today, when you look around the local Blogosphere there are fewer choices. Many of the Anti Albero Blogs are disappearing.

Bill Duvall isn't worth reading any more, seriously. What used to be the best Blog on the Eastern Shore is nothing short of, GO HERE and CLICK HERE information created elsewhere.

Delmarva Dealings has been just like a car running out of gas. Every so often it kicks back and sputters, acting is if it's going to come back to life again, then it dies out.

The few remaining Anti Albero Blogs have simply lost credibility and people have grown tired of the bitching and complaining about one single person, Joe Albero. They offer no news at all and they've dropped in comments and posts like there's no tomorrow.

Could it be that Salisbury News has no competition any longer? Will my only real competition be The Daily Times Blogs? I have only gone there once, (honest to God) since they started them and I have yet to ever hear or read that anyone else has remarked about a single story in them.

It is very time consuming to do a decent Blog and of course there's always the threats of a lawsuit. I love the one about the Anti Albero people threatening a Class Action Suit against me. Here's the funny part. These people are "anonymous" and they think they're going to sue me. Now that cracks me up. Or as Larry the Cable Guy says, Now that there is some funny stuff. Hey anonymous, you're an a hole. I can't wait for that lawsuit too. LOL

Then there's the one guy who claims I'm a Terrorist. Love the Towel Head picture too! Robinson has a Blog, then he doesn't have a Blog. Then he gets pissed off again and starts up another Blog, then he shuts it down again. He should get to know Doug Church better because Doug does the exact same thing on a regular basis. Charles Jannace has finally given up the ghost, (from what I can tell) and he's still got his Blog but he hasn't posted anything in several months. I'm happy to see he's moved on and grown up.

Anyhow, although the pickins are getting slimmer, we still have Michael Shwartz who tells details like there's no tomorrow but doesn't have very interesting Posts. He's more about politics and does in fact cover it well. However, people tend to fall asleep arriving into the second paragraph. Then he covers stuff like local Bands. I'm sorry but people in our age groups are raising kids and have many other things to do than to go out to Night Clubs and watch the local Bands.

I can tell you that there will be a pleasant surprise coming to Delmarva starting next week. I can't tell you what it is but I will say that you're going to see a LOT more of Salisbury News being exposed through the Media and partnerships being born to create the Blog Industry in a much bigger way.

As a matter of fact you'll even see television commercials promoting the local Blogs in the very near future. The Daily Times has no idea what's coming. All I can tell you is it is a win/win situation for Salisbury News. Wanna buy some ad space? LOL

IF you have a Blog and want to participate you'll need to make Posts each and every day. You'll need to have been around for at least 90 days and your Blog will need to be informative about local information. If you'd like to get involved just contact me and I'll see what I can do to get you on board as well.

I wonder what will become of this Post and if we might see a few more Blogs kick up out of nowhere now? Remember, it's a lot of work and if you're just going to sit around and pick on me, you're not going to survive. Even Bill Duvall gave up on me after a while because people just couldn't stand it. Good Luck!

Prices

Last night I made a run up to Sam's Club to pick up a few items we were running low on.

When I got to the Pet Food Isle I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Dog Food rose 25% almost overnight!

Look, this is just getting crazy! I love my animals and I'll pay whatever it costs to keep them happy as well. However, a 25% increase is just ridiculous out of nowhere. The last time I believe I said something it was about how they made the cat food bags smaller and the price of it went up a good 25%, if not more.

I just wonder when Americans are going to freak out, yes, even over something so stupid? There has to come a time when everyone says enough is enough. Just look what we're paying for a gallon of milk or a pound of meat. These are tangible items too.

Oh well, if you can't afford it any more, more than likely crime will go way up and people will simply start stealing it. No, I don't mean 50 pound bags of Dog Food. I mean like the Mob stealing the entire truck load.
