Week Seven: Minimum Wage, Tax Cut Hearings

The seventh week of the 2014 Session of the Maryland General Assembly starts Mon day in Annapolis, with the Senate Finance Committee holding a hearing on Governor Martin O'Malley's plan to raise the minimum wage.

Monday afternoon's hearing had been rescheduled from last Thursday, due to the snow storm.

The governor wants to increase the minimum wage incrementally from $7.25 to $10.10-an-hour by July, 2016. He also wants to tie future increases in the minimum wage to the federal cost of living index.
